merthur shippers are always like "tee hee I could take you apart with one blow :) do you know how to walk on your knees?? gay!" meanwhile merlin is going around casually dropping lines like "his life is worth a thousand of mine" and "I know him better than I know myself" and "magic isn't just a part of me it IS me. and of course I use it only for arthur"
I absolutely understand the desire for asexual representation and I really do think that that's something that deserves to be represented in more "mainstream" gay media (how much gay media is actually mainstream is debatable but you know what I mean), but at the same time I just can't get behind posts like, idk, lamenting the loss of potential asexual representation because two guys on TV had nasty gay sex, bc gay sex on TV is not "the norm" no matter how you slice it. Whereeeee is all the media filled with nasty gay sex. Can I see it
what people assume i'm thinking while i'm working on rekindled: "GRRR I HATE LO AND RACHEL!!! I HATE HER SO MUCH!!! THIS WILL SHOW HER AND HER FANS! THIS WILL SHOW ALL OF THEM! I HOPE RACHEL SEES THIS AND CRIES!!!"
what i'm actually thinking while i work on rekindled: "man i'm having a great time working on this but i can't wait to be done with this panel that's driving me nuts. i wonder how i can get that cool splatter effect rachel did in S1. bright colors make brain go brrrr. i can't wait to get to the part where hades clowns on himself. oof i'm hungry, i need to figure out what to have for dinner tonight. oh look, an 11 hour retrospective on the simpsons-"
Controversial question maybe?? But I don’t get the people wanting Keigo’s arc to finish up realizing he can be a hero without the quirk. Like yeah sure, but tbh, you can’t really be a good hero without the quirk so I’m just confused as to why some people want that to be his conclusion
"can’t really be a good hero without the quirk"
uhh im not sure I agree with this. In fact, I think you need to like....reread something.....it's my hero academia, here's chapter one.
sometimes I think we’ve made the “kink in public” debate more complicated than it needs to be by making it entirely a consent thing, because an inevitable consequence of going out in public is you’re going to see things you didn’t consent to see and it’s not the end of the world. I didn’t consent to seeing a dude shit on the sidewalk that one time in seattle but I sure did, and frankly I would have been less upset to see someone walking their partner on a leash because that wouldn’t have caused there to be shit on the sidewalk. seeing something you don’t like passing by isn’t going to irreversibly traumatize anyone. it’s just a side effect of Living In A Society(tm)
the reason you shouldn’t do a kink scene in public is the same reason you shouldn’t watch tiktoks at full volume with no headphones on the bus: it’s just kind of rude and obnoxious, and there’s a time and a place, and the grocery store is not it. people are trying to get to the cheez-its and you’re distracting them and impeding foot traffic.
which, incidentally, is one more reason why kink at pride is fine.
honestly, i think the urge to dunk on someone who has terrible opinions on some form of media sometimes make people go too far and emit opinions under a utilitarian lens that diminish the importance of art as a whole. it's like, sure, some people do lose perspective sometimes and need to 'touch grass' when that happens, but it's definitely not because they dared to care about a work of fiction in some meaningful way
“Kingdom Hearts being an epic slow burn gay romance would be incredibly impactful to people both personally and as a landmark in queer representation by extremely popular and established characters. It has decades of legitimate buildup and has the potential to be both incredibly validating to queer fans everywhere and even possibly sway the minds of those who love the characters but may not have much contact or knowledge of queerness.”
and
“The Kingdom Hearts series is honestly kind of unique in its unabashed emotional sincerity. How it treats friendships and non-romantic bonds as being both extremely important and powerful, never giving the impression that friendship is lesser to romance, is depressingly still somewhat of a rarity in media. This is very important and validating to many, particularly aromantics but also most everyone who is just Tired of how friendships and romance are often presented in tiers of importance.”
Can I join the club of wanting the darkling to be more monstrous and an eldritch horror cause damn if that isn’t super fun to explore
hhhhh yes!! eldritch horror darkling is so interesting like I am always thinking about just how far his powers can go and the effects being a shadow summoner could have on him at a deep, primal level. like I love the idea of him acting just this side of human, but he always knows when you're approaching he can feel you in the air he can grab you from anywhere he is a shadow creature but not because he is master of shadow and they all bow to him. anyways...
i have never done one of them tumblr videos but winter is the prettiest season here and i wanted to share the extremely specific sight of snow drifting off conifers and being caught in the afternoon sun
my goal craft-wise as a burgeoning little words doer is to be able to describe something like this and do it justice
incredibly cold take but i really do not understand how bl*od/weave became the most popular origin/origin ship, both for each character or like. just in general. like they both make way more sense in a romance with wyll than with each other and more compelling cases could also def be made for gale/shadowheart (both having a crisis of faith and struggling to define their identity outside of said faith) and astarion/karlach (touch-averse vs touch-starved and jaded pessimism vs boundless optimism). hell i'd even see gale/lae'zel before i'd see gale with astarion. they simply do not like or respect each other. it's literally anders/fenris all over again tbh.
I love when I tell people I’m from Colorado and they’re like “oh Colorado’s gorgeous” oh buddy not where I grew up. I still think any area with non-planted trees feels exotic
im realizing lately i really am like utterly & completely terrified of people leaving me either for no reason . or for something i think is a good enough reason to suddenly hate me & want to throw rocks at me & hit me with sticks & crucify me upside down & skin me & spit on me etc. , But really its like either not a problem at all or its just a regular problem that gets better from talking
remember when matpat was like "BY THE AMOUNT OF MINIMUM WAGE MIKE IS MAKING WE CAN DEDUCE THIS GAME TAKES PLACE IN 1987" youre fucking INSANE dude. THE CHECK LITERALLY SAID "20XX" ON IT
maybe its just cause i stopped reading during avos but im so tempted to just nuke most of the post oots background characters and just do my own nextgen style au
Well in the end it comes down to recognizing when you can’t have a good faith conversation. I can understand the arguments being made and where it comes from but I fundamentally disagree with some of the foundations of these beliefs and will not budge. Nuance necessitates some alignment, I think.
