Friends, Relatives, Countrymen, we come to play bingo.
Yesterday I went out to Sheila's hometown to play bingo with many of her relatives and other people we know. It was an annual get-together to remember one of the cousins who passed away from cancer a few years ago.
My BIL's dog had been at my house. I started the day by bringing Stella home. She howled with happiness when she saw Bill. A friend of ours was at his house. Bill made pancakes before we headed off to the VFW for bingo. Sadly, Sheila was under the weather and missed the day's events.
The last several times I played bingo it was with Sheila. I didn't win any games. Yesterday, without her, I won $99. Hmmmm.
My SIL Paula and her daughter were at bingo. The daughter just turned 18 and is new to bingo. Paula knows I like to do laundry and gave me this box of wonderfully scented detergent strips to try. My washer is broken (repair person comes Monday). I'm more than eager to use some of these strips. To thank Paula I taunted her when I won a game and she went home empty handed.
I sat with a monther-daughter pair of relatives I've seen many times over the years but never really talked with at length. We had a lot of fun at our table. Our laughter might have been a tiny bit loud. The daughter got a friendly warning from the bingo caller. After the session the mom told me she enjoyed getting to know me. I was flattered. Another of Sheila's cousins was at our table along with her husband. She won a round of bingo too.
Afterward most of us barhopped in the small downtown. At the first bar a waitress with a small computer on her wrist worked the open floor area. She did an excellent job alleviating thirst.
I didn't drink at the second bar but joined everyone in conversation. Our final stop was the bar with the best food. My BIL ordered several large appetizers and told me to help myself. I grazed on chicken and onion rings as I talked and talked and talked.
When I got home my brain was still in talk mode. I passed along the many well wishes that had been offered to Sheila. We settled in for the evening and started season 5 of Fargo. I saw the movie but none of the previous TV seasons. Someone told me season 5 is excellent so that's why we started it. So far it has not disappointed.
I may need to try some of the older seasons (they are all unrelated, so it doe not matter to watch them out of order). The petite actress who played Keely in Ted Lasso is a main character. She's English but does a good job doing the North Dakota/Northern Minnesota accent.

Sophie Part Three
Sorry this one is so short; I am trying to post more often and as such some posts may be a little smaller. I am about to remaster an old story of mine, that will be up here first!!
If you want to read up to part six early you can head over to www.Patreon.com/BabyCory1
Her mother quickly got to work, pushing her baby girl backwards onto her bad, putting her in a good position for a diaper change. Sophie didn't try to fight it, instead she was more worried about the squish she felt as she landed on her padded rump.
"Ewww Mommy its squishy," she said trying to avoid thinking about the mess she now had all over her bottom.
"Honey, you're just a baby now, there is no reason nor privilege to be worried about what kind of mess you make in your diaper, do you understand!" Her Monther said silencing her, while also giving her a stern look.
"Wes, mommy," Sophie said while looking away from her mother, too scared of what the punishment might be if she tried to back talk her like she had done just earlier that week.
"Good Girl!!" Her mother said going from stern to beaming in just a few moments. Then without further waiting her mother lifted her ankles and began untapping her daughter's diaper, noticing the mess her hand instinctively went to grad a baby wipe, only to find none where she was expecting them.
"Baby where are your changing supplies?" Her mother asked while turning her head, looking for the changing supplies while holding her daughter's ankles up in the air.
"I don't have any mommy," Sophie said going red, hoping that she would just let her go shower instead.
"Well, that won't do, i guess there is no helping it then," With a sigh of relief Sophies mother let her daughter's legs down. But before she let Sophie up her mother began taping her daughter's diaper back up.
"Umm mommy why are you taping my diaper up," Sophie asked in confusion as her mother finished up.
"Well, I can't change you diaper without wipes baby, so I decided we will go get you some, and as you can't be trusted to go around without a diaper, you'll stay in this one while we go out." Her mother said while picking her daughter up from the bed.
"Now, do you want to wear the pink dress, pink skirt or no pants at all," her mother asked while smiling and grabbing the pink dress at the same time.
"If you don't answer I'm goanna, go with no pants, I don't want to deprive the world of such a cute baby now would I," she said as Sophie sat there unable to conjure up the words.
'Umm ... Pink dress mommy, "Sophie finally croaked out.
"Good choice baby!!" Her mother said while already putting it on her.
"Ok time to go out then," and just like that her mother began caring her out to the car, no shoes, no pants, only a dress on and a very messy diaper.

About THE DRAGON’S PLEA, Part 3 of 3
he observed :
Hmm, it seems that Monther will be well out of everyone's hair for good, unless he manages to sneak back into the kingdom, violating his exile. I somehow doubt he has the bravery to attempt that.
Also, good on the king for allowing his daughter to actually choose her husband, and keep her friend.
Monther will be out of everyone's hair after this, it is true.
As for King Arnot, he has always tried to be a good father by the rules of the general society that they live in. He truly does love Princess Rowan but social conventions did not allow him to show it properly. It took this extreme situation to allow him to break through social conventions and show his true feelings in a way that Rowan could feel too.
Speaking of love, note that when Granmorrigan went after the loot of ex king Bruice, Rowan went with him. Not only did Granmorrigan learn to love Rowan, she learned to love both him AND his love of adding to his hoard! Strong bonds are built of such shared interests!

LANÇAMENTOS MUSICAIS DO MÊS DE JULHO, VENHA CONFERIR!
Avril Lavigne
youtube

“BEING A PART OF THE SHIELD TEAM, A FORMER MEMBER OF THE RED ROOM, AND HAVING A MONTHER-DAUGHTER BOND WITH MAY (AGENTS OF SHIELD)”
requester: anon // request here
From the time you joined, Coulson and May had become your surrogate parents, but you were even closer with May after she started training you
You were already leagues ahead of most agents, and May enjoyed the challenge of training you, even if it was almost... haunting at times?
Because you were so, so young
And yet as lethal as most agents she knew
She didn’t pry into what happened to you at the Red Room, but she had ideas
She noticed how certain things set you on edge-- like the smell of antiseptic when Simmons was trying to patch up a wound on you, or how when she woke you up, you’d be awake immediately, no grogginess
As if you always slept on just the edge of sleep
Ready to be woken at any moment
And unable to relax
She started training you with Tai Chi, something new for you to try, something that she hoped would ground you
Which at first you were resistant to, since you always wanted to be on the move, and hated the quiet and stillness of it
But eventually, it became your favorite time of day
Lots of newer agents (Hunter, for example) made jokes when they found out about your past, which Coulson shut down pretty quickly
Hunter: “Oh, y/n’s one of those widows, right? I’ve heard those stories. You know, if I had the chance to train since I was a preschooler--”
Coulson: “I’m sure y/n would have loved to have a choice in it.”
Becoming close with Bobbi, who somehow just clicked with you, and you felt like she understood you
Like May, she became a key person in helping you adjust to life at SHIELD, especially socially
Especially helping you read social situations, since your time as a spy hadn’t really prepared you for just being among friends
You always felt at ease when she showed up
A lot of your training was helping you make adjustments from the way the Red Room had trained you
Trying to make you a little more self-preserving, not always on the offense, holding back just a little to assess the situation
Sometimes you had nightmares, especially about from when you were taken
Wandering the base one night and running into Daisy, who greeted you with a usual soft smile, pulling up a chair to where she was sitting
Daisy: “What’s on your mind?”
“Sometimes I wonder who I would be if... if I hadn’t been taken. Who my parents were. Where I would have lived.”
Daisy could tell just the thought alone made you upset, even as much as you tried to hold it back.
Daisy: “I grew up without my parents, too. I spent years wondering who they were, and why they weren’t there.”
You: “Did you find them? When you joined SHIELD.”
Daisy: “Yeah. And they mostly sucked. It was complicated. I guess what I’m trying to say is, I’m willing to help. But also, I hope you know that you have a family with us here.”

Soap Opera Lesbians
Hanging around here reminds me of all the TV lesbians I've known over the years. For some reason, today I'm thinking of Bianca Montgomery from All My Children. Emmerdale in the UK beat the US soaps by 10 years, but in 2000 we finally got our own soap opera lesbian. The daughter of soap icon, Erica Kane, Bianca went on to have almost as many relationships as her monther had husbands. All of them with women who were either straight, confused about coming out, or in some other way unavailable. Let's see, there was:
Sarah Livingston
Tumblr media
Frankie Stone (who was a Bury the Gay victim)
Tumblr media
Lena Kundera (first same sex kiss on American daytime TV)
Tumblr media
Maggie Stone (yes, Frankie's twin sister)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Zoe, the first transgender charaacter to come out and transition in daytime TV
Tumblr media
Reese, for the first daytime same sex wedding
Tumblr media
Marrisa (yes that's a different actress playing Bianca)
And then the show ended with...... Marissa being shot dead. Bury the gay in the very last episode.

Be Inspired
It all starts with you. Are you inspired? Are you grateful? Are you excited by the possibilities and opportunities because of your role as an influencer in the lives of patients and your community? Or, are you just trying to get by? Surviving? I’m reminded of a confession from a recent participant of The Conversation. His 31 years of marriage were good. He put two daughters through college. He was out of debt and his practice was doing sufficiently well enough to put money away for retirement. Most chiropractors would think they were in heaven under these same circumstances. But this doctor wasn’t inspired. He confessed that when he was with one of his many once-a-monther patients, he’d find himself gazing out the window, daydreaming about fly-fishing. While he wanted more of these types of patients, it seemed he took them (and the opportunity to be in their lives each month) for granted. That won’t do. If you have any hope of authentically inspiring others, you must be present to the franchise you have and be inspired by it.

The Lowland Review
Tumblr media
The Lowland by Jhumpa Lahiri is a 340 page Adult Historical Fiction novel set in round 1970's India and USA. I picked up this book in a fairly recent book haul, nad with my interest peaked I wanted to read it as soon as I could.
Information gotten from the marketing of the book.
In this book we follow two brothers, Subhash and Udayan in the time of an upcoming revolution in India. Ever since their youth they had been as close as brother could get, and now the world seems to drive them apart. Udayan sees the events for what they are, and eventually joins the rebels. Subhash on the other hand, wishes not to partake and heads to America for his studies. Will fate bring the brother together? Will they be on the same side, the side of family?
Actual information.
When the youngest of two Indian brothers is convicted and executed, the life of the family changes forever. The monther withdraws into herself, and the father isn't much better. The elder brother, Subhash, has moved to America for his studies, but takes great care of his family as much as he can. The wife now a widow, Gauri, is pregnant with his son unbeknownst to him. The elder brother and the widow make an arangement to take care for the child, a daughter, Bela. Will they find their happy end?
I rate this book 2.5/5 stars, because the marketing was off point and there were various other things that frustrated me while reading.
There were moments that I really enjoyed and moments I was wondering why I was continuing with the story. It's a slow burn from beginning to end, not something I suspected. The story itself was really interesting. We see glimpses of the life in India and USA in mostly the '60 and '70, however with how the book looked, the way the synopsis was written I expected it was fully set in India. To see how one life could impact that of a whole family for generations, was quite the wake up call. At moments I wonder what would've been different in my life were some small detail was changed. I feel that some moments were completely written to shock the reading, giving information out of nowhere to drive the plot forward. The characters themselves feel very round, and because we have various POV's we see into their minds as well. They are established very clearly, and change throughout their lives, for better and worse. Some change from quite likable to completely annoying and unbelievable in their actions. Mostly Gauri in my opinion. I'm not a mother, but to me it's inconciable that a mother would leave their child after 12 years of raising it. She is selfish and inconsiderate many a times. The writing style is also something I'm not quite used to. Many things are thoughts and desciption; often tell instead of show. And I must wonder if the writer has every hear of Quotation Marks for dialogue. How else am I supposed to know when someone is talking? Well, by taking myself out of the story and rereading a paragraph 3 times over for it to make sense in my brain. After some time I got used to it, and it was easier to make the distinction between normal text and dialogue, but it was never as fluid and normal.
My last point is stated at the beginning of this Review as an example. The fact that this book is completely wrong in it's marketing. I think that if it was marketed with the right content that I still woul've picked it up, because the premise does really intrigue me. I also think that I would've had much less frustration with this book than I felt this time around. Would I recommend it? Yes, if one cares for a story that follows characters throughout their lives and to see the impact a family can have on one another.
If you have any questions send me an ask here on tumblr or tweet me. If there are any books that you want to recommend, be sure to let me know!
