Inktober day 4: spirit.

Okay but the new episode really makes a point to show us that Guillermo isn’t ‘not you Guillermo’ anymore, he’s a part of the gang. And there’s no big drama about it either, he’s sitting next to Nandor (closer to the podium than Colin Robinson is) If this were some other season, his ass would be on the side bodyguarding or down next to Sean in one of the pews. No one stops him when he goes to roast Laszlo on the podium because of course he’s allowed to, he’s a member of the household and more importantly he’s Laszlos friend. When they go to rescue Guillermo, no one but the Baron says ‘he’s just a familiar who cares’ and even that statement is withdrawn once he sees how distraught Nandor is. Not to mention, they have full confidence in Guillermo- they’re just trying to stop the Baron from provoking him. Laszlo even snaps out of his bloody trance twice, to help Gizmo out.

This episode really speaks to everyone’s relationship with Guillermo this season. He’s not weak but he’s not a danger to them either, he’s their friend, he’s their little guy, he’s whatever the fuck he is to Nandor (to be read in Nadja voice) he could kill the Baron without mercy but he would also help the Baron out if he felt bad enough. Despite the title he holds, he’s just expected to be around, assisting or causing shenanigans with them. Nothing he does is met with more ridicule than usual because he’s not ‘other’ anymore- he’s just in their vampire pod now and no one’s complaining.

They both grin wildly, eyes squeezed shut, Guillermo's arms flying up automatically as he is rocked back by the force of her embrace. Nadja crows, 'You are, you sweet, dear, stupid boy!' 2. Repeat. Nadja settles into the hug, practically in Guillermo's lap, clasping her hands together over his shoulder and nuzzling her temple against his. Dolly comes into frame to join, smiling and boosting herself up with one tiny hand on Guillermo's arm. Guillermo smiles down at her shakily and puts his arm around her, still seeming a bit startled and touched by the affection. Dolly says, 'I told you it would work.' Nadja replies, eyes still closed, 'Yes, yes, we are a genius.' 3. Close up on Nandor as he recovers from Guillermo's hands on him, brushing fingers against his own cheek and aiming a self-deprecating chuckle at the floor. There is still some smeared blood visible on the left side of his neck where feral Guillermo's claws had pierced him. Offscreen, the Nadjas continue talking. Dolly shrieks, 'We?!' Nadja replies, 'Any brains of yours are brains of mine! I may even have brains you don't.' Dolly snaps back, 'Your brains are cluttered with 500 years of useless skatá!' 4. Repeat. Nandor's hand moves to cup his throat, feeling where feral Guillermo had gripped him. His expression tightens into a frown, a serious or worrisome thought suddenly passing through his mind. Offscreen, the Nadjas continue talking. Dolly says, 'I bet you can't even remember the name of our first donkey!' Nadja mumbles uncertainly, 'Errmm... Gyar... Gaidrr...?' /end ID
