Daily WoF Designs - A Retrospective
Here we are! Three hundred thirty one designs, eleven months, and one very, very tired high schooler. I’m writing this at two am after finishing Freedom’s design and wow. Just. Wow.
In case you dont want to read all my sappy stuff and just want to know about the future of the blog- I WILL be posting new designs if any new characters are introduced in new books (the dragon guide, any future winglets, etc). I will also answer any asks. There just wont be any more designs for a while.
Onto the sappy stuff!
I got the idea of this while working on my Sirens animatic, because I thought to myself that a reference would be useful to have right about then. About a month later, I saw someone mention that one of those “drawing every warrior cats” blogs had finished (ive looked and cant find it anymore, but im sure I saw that post!). So, I got the idea in my head and wondered if this was a good idea because- really? four hundred designs? (in concept I was going to do the humans too. I decided against it partway through book 2)
So, who better to ask than my hashtag besties who I’ve known for years?
Tumblr media
I immediately disregarded her, of course. But it’s the principle of the matter.
This was a project I started on the tail-end of quarantine, and it gave me something to do with myself once the school year started up and I went back to in person school for the first time since eighth grade. It was something to keep me grounded. I knew that if I had nothing to do, I could always knock out a few designs while listening to a video essay.
Even if theres some designs I’m not so proud of (looking at you, tsunami and deathbringer), I always enjoyed it. Trying to figure out how to make every character look interesting, how to go beyond “brown scales” or “black wings”. It helped me improve my character designing skills, that’s for sure. If I were to go back to some of my book one designs, I’d probably do things differently. But I know if I go back to redo book one, I’d end up redoing EVERY design. Best let sleeping dogs (or dragons!) lie.
Anyways, now that I’m here, I’d like to shout out followers (or just those who frequently interacted) that I noticed a lot. If I missed you, I’m very sorry- theres just SO many of you and I’d like to keep it short haha.
@neozoid You reblogged nearly every design! That’s just impressive dude.
@fugivitus-from-gerard You’ve been here since the start and I appreciate that.
@seawing-vibes As your name suggests, you always seem to enjoy my seawing designs. You were also one of the first blogs to actually reblog with compliments instead of just liking the post! It really inspired me to keep going
@belovedisaster You mostly reblogged my darkstalker art, but you always had something nice to say.
@lunathemeifwawitch You don’t really comment much in the tags, but you reblog everything very consistently and are usually the first to reblog the design of the day.
@mothpawbs Dude. I’m pretty sure you went from my main to this blog instead of the other way around, which is VERY unusual. Normally people find my main from here (then they unfollow my main in like, a week because I don’t wofpost daily like i do here LMAO). Anyways, you’re cool.
@nach0 I always notice you in the notes. Hi.
@lettuce-tv Hi bestie!!! I didn’t know you followed this blog but you were my first follower on here. Congrats? I think?
There’s more, of course- In fact, theres 373 of you! And I appreciate each and every note I get.
I just want to say that this project has meant so much to me, and I’m glad all of you appreciate it too. Thanks for coming along with my journey of drawing a years worth of dragons and supporting this silly little pet project of mine. (Also please join my map i desperately need more members lmao)

Have you today?
Looked in a mirror? Not on purpose. We just have several mirrors in the house that I unavoidably pass by and look at.
Watered a plant? Not today, but my dad has asked me to do it a couple of times in the last week.
Worn denim? I haven’t worn outside clothes in almost a monthhhhh. And that includes denim.
Washed your hair? Technically yes. I took a shower at around 1 AM? before heading to bed.
Been in pain? Kind of. My left eye has been irritating me almost every night/morning since the year started; sometimes it gets incredibly swollen, sometimes it just feels like something is stuck in my eyelid. Either way it’s always uncomfortable and painful.
Had a nap? Haha, not yet. But since the lockdown started I’ve been having an afternoon siesta everyday. Brushed your teeth? Yeah, it came along with the ^ above 1 AM shower. Kissed someone? I haven’t been able to kiss my girlfriend in almost three weeks now and I’m miiiiiserable.  Used a cheese grater? Nah, I haven’t used one in a while.
Eaten something sweet? Not yet. I might eat a few pieces of chocnut later though. Spoken to a stranger? Not today, but we did have a village guard knock on our door earlier to give my dad a quarantine pass – it’s to confirm that he’ll be the only one in the family allowed to leave the house in case we need to go to the groceries or something. I peeked by the front door to listen to the interaction, but I didn’t speak with the guard myself. Dropped something? Sure. My bottle of eye drops. Felt upset in some way? You can say that. There’s a new trend on Facebook where groups are created so certain universities can just trashtalk one another as a joke. It was funny at first but there are some posts that have gone too far, personal, or both, and it obviously hasn’t been good for my mental health lol. Drank coffee? Not yet today. I usually have it in the evening. Walked for more than thirty minutes? I also haven’t walked much in three weeks. That’s kinda what’s supposed to happen when your entire city is put on lockdown. Signed up for something? No. I’ve logged in to certain sites, though. Travelled in a car? I also haven’t been in a car in the last couple of weeks. I was able to ride with my dad the night before they imposed the lockdown – we were visiting my grandpa in the columbary because it would’ve been his 80th birthday that day. Opened a can? Nope. Thought about doing something crazy? At the back of my head I always think of driving up to see Gab because I miss her a lot, but it just remains a crazy thought in my head. Listened to a new song? Yeah. I have a couple of saved playlists and I don’t know like 94% of the songs in both of them, so I’m always listening to a new song everyday. Written in a notebook? I haven’t. I’ve written on a piece of paper, though. Fed an animal? Yup, my dog needs his breakfast. Checked your emails? LOL NOPE, and I don’t plan to check them any time soon. Told someone you love them? Yeah, before we both turned in at like 3 AM lol. Made a phone call? Yeah I also called my girlfriend earlier.
Have you in the last week?
Update: I skipped this survey the whole day and now it’s 10:30 in the evening, and I’ve already done a bunch of stuff I said no ^ to earlier lmao but am too lazy to change. Let’s gooooooo
Travelled on a bus? Nah. The bus personally isn’t my main mode of transpo and I only get to ride them when I’m in a group and there’s no choice but to ride a bus, like for field trips or for group itineraries during vacations.
Washed your face? Yeah. I did this today because my face was feeling annoyingly oily. Put a face mask on for the first time in a long time.
Used a blender? No. I don’t think we even have a blender at home, cos no one ever makes stuff that needs to be blended.
Received a phone call? Sure. Gab and I called several times in the last week, and my grandma has also called from time to time to check up on us because the lockdown has kept us from seeing her regularly.
Talked to someone you dislike? I...don’t think so. If I did I’d definitely talk to Gabie about it, and I haven’t done that with her haha.
Consumed alcohol? Ugh, bleck. Yeah. I wanted to get buzzed last week and a bottle of Jack Daniel’s is the only thing we have in the house so I had a small sip and just... disgusting. Whiskey is just not my thing, so never again.
Eaten pasta? Spot on. We had spaghetti for dinner tonight.
Planned for an event? There is no event to plan, and it’ll stay like this for the next 3-4 months probs.
Asked someone for a favour? Sure, I asked Gab to be the one to write the write-up that’s going to be on my college yearbook.
Watched something funny? I’ve been watching tons of these to fight off boredom during the break.
Trimmed your nails? Yep, they were getting long and uncomfortable so I got rid of them.
Browsed Reddit? Also yep. School kept me busy for a couple of months and I wasn’t able to use Reddit then because I’d usually pass out by evening. But right now I have more than enough time to browse it, so I’ve been doing some catching up.
Talked to yourself? I guess? Not as much as before the lockdown though, because I’ve already been usually by myself throughout this break, and don’t feel the ~need to talk to myself.
Purchased tickets for something? Nah. They cancelled almost all future events up until May or June...there’s no tickets to be bought at all to begin with.
Felt like you were annoying someone? Meh, it happens every now and then.
Cleaned a toilet? I’ve never done this at all.
Reminisced about the past? LMAO yeah. Someone created a Facebook group that lets alumni from my high school just shit-talk the school and bring back (and reveal) old drama, scandals, and controversies. It’s hilarious, it hasn’t pissed me off, and past students exposing teachers who turned out to be trash and/or perverts is so satisfying.
Used headphones? I haven’t had headphones in a while.
Laughed with a friend? Yeah, but just virtually. I haven’t heard most of my friends’ voices in a while.
Cooked dinner and then didn't feel hungry? Nah. I HAVE helped my dad make dinner a few times this week, which is like huge baby steps for me in learning how to cook haha.
Written a list? I don’t think I have in the last week.
Played an instrument? Nope. Felt jealous or envious? It happens. Ignored a text message on purpose? Lol yeah I guess. There were times I got fed up with Gab being such a slow replier that when she replies, I stopped wanting to open my inbox. Congratulated someone? I just did! UP’s med school results were released a few hours ago and I congratulated my friend Michelle for passing. Her decision was super clutch – she initially passed med school as early as high school but she declined it so she can take journalism instead, because it’s what she thought she liked at the time. Four years into the course and she realizes she hated it, so she made the really clutch decision to review for med school exams and she ended up passing every single one she took, UP being the icing on the cake. Honestly I wish I had balls like her.
Have you in the last month?
Made a piece of art? I don’t think so.
Rewatched one of your favourite tv shows or movies? I rewatch Friends at least once or twice a month, so ya got me there.
Called a plumber? We haven’t needed to do this.
Been to a see a doctor? Yup, an optometrist. Something’s been going on with my left eye for a while, so I went in to have a checkup a couple of weeks ago.
Finished a book? I did :o I had to read an entire book to make an essay for my business news class. It’s an investigative piece on the fast food industry, which I honestly dig, so I didn’t have a hard time reading and finishing it.
Had a crush on someone? Sure.
Travelled on a train? Definitely haven’t done this at all, except for that one time three years ago when I had to do it with Jum to go to the House of Representatives in Manila.
Worn heels? I don’t think I did, no. Been to a friend's house? Yeah, I was at Gabie’s a couple times before the lockdown started. Shared a bed with someone? ^ Just her. Been to see a movie at the cinema? Haven’t been to since Knives Out last December. Paid attention to celebrity drama? Nah. High school drama though, I’ve been all over that the last couple of days lmao. Felt anxious? I feel it at least once a day. Taken an elevator? Sure. Given someone the cold shoulder? Only when I don’t reply to Gab because she takes too long to reply, lol yeah. It doesn’t last too long though; it’s just a playful tantrum thing. Purchased a new book/game/movie? Nah, I think I find most of my content on YouTube/Netflix anyway. Applied for a job? Hahahahahahahahahahhaha not yet don’t rush me. Used a printer? I don’t think so. Had lunch in a park? But do we have parks at all? Lmaooooooooo Gotten a manicure or pedicure? Definitely not into those. Made an appointment? Ish? If the one with the optometrist counts. Had a blood test done? Not since 2010. Suffered from a major bruise? Lol dude I haven’t moved a lot in the last few weeks, there’s absolutely no reason for me to get a bruise. Researched a topic in-depth? Yes. I am in school, after all.
Have you in the last year?
Been to the beach? Yep, but it’s been a literal year and not less than, and I am haaaaaardcore missing the beach. No idea when I’ll be coming back.
Visited someone in the hospital? No and I hope I won’t have to for now, given what’s been going on.
Played pinball? Ooh I just did earlier this month! Gab and I went to BGC for a whole night of partying, and when everyone went home we stayed so we can go bar-hopping, and there’s a place called Barcade that’s...well, you get the name. ANYWAY they had sooo many vintage arcade games and a couple of pinball machines, and we didn’t waste time playing each of them. It was sooooo fun.
Travelled on a plane? A couple of times.
Worn a costume? I was Dora for Halloween, so yup.
Been thrift shopping? I don’t...think so?
Thought about getting pregnant or got pregnant? Hell no.
Made a big life decision? Not really. Hasn’t everyone’s lives been put on hold because of this stupid virus?
Changed a lightbulb? Never had at all, really.
Framed something and put it on your wall? Nah. I’m not really that kind of person.
Been stargazing? I’ve been doing this a lot recently cos I’ve been staying at the rooftop at night more often. And with everyone at home, the light pollution has been clearing up and the stars have been so much easier to see.
Made a new friend? If the new applicants for our org count, then yes.
Added to a collection? I don’t have any.
Been to the dentist? Oh yeah. I had a really bad toothache throughout December but the dentist took it all away ahhdkjfhdjsfhsf I’m so grateful lmao.
Broken up with someone? Nope.
Held a baby? That’s a bigger nope.
Created a budget? Nah lmao I would never be able to follow it.
Confessed feelings for someone? Already did.
Had surgery of any kind? Nope and I hope I’ll never need one.
Quit a job? Never had a job,
Been in a car accident? NO thank god hahahahahahaha Purchased something worth over a grand? Yep, one of my Christmas gifts for Gabie was well around two grand. Pesos though, so that’s like roughly $40. Been on vacation at least 500km/300mi from home? Yeah, we always do at least one of these when my dad’s home. Applied for an academic course? Does enrolling count? I’m still in college lmao. Had your photo taken by a professional? I had my grad shoot taken last January.

Dog Days Are Over (Or Not)
or, the uni student!Lucas and tattoo artist!Eliott fluff you didn’t ask for
Lucas is in the middle of a crisis. That’s the best way to describe his current situation.
He just got back home from uni and discovered he had 1) failed one of his most important exams 2) managed to forget an essay due two hours ago 3) remembered he has 2 essays due to the next week that he hasn’t started yet and another exam coming up this week that he hasn’t started revising for either.
In conclusion, he is well and truly fucked.
Naturally, the only logical thing for Lucas to do is go out on a stroll through the streets of Paris with the only thing Lucas managed to keep safe from his disastrous self: his cute little pomeranian, Ouba.
He walks her daily on their neighbourhood and she’s very popular over there, probably because she’s the only dog in their area, probably because she’s as chaotic as her owner. Lucas doesn’t really know, just knows that everyone seems to love her and spoil her with gifts and cute little doggy clothes on a daily basis.
He’s walking around their block with her, mind wandering far away from all things university related when he sees another guy, probably his age, maybe a bit older, walking towards them with his own dog. When the guy comes near them Lucas notices two things: 1) The guy is absolutely breathtakingly beautiful 2) his dog is a pitbull. A beautiful one at that, with black fur and the greenest eyes Lucas has ever seen on someone. But still, a pitbull. And Lucas fears for his precious dog’s life. He knows it’s stupid, but once again, its Ouba he’s talking about and that dog is at least twice her size.
The dog comes to a stop in front of Ouba and that makes them both stop too. The dog starts sniffing Ouba and it’s owner just smiles at their dogs and lets them resume their sniffing.
Ouba being the fierce little dog she is, just like her owner, starts barking at the pitbull’s face. Lucas doesn’t quite believe what he sees when the pitbull starts backing away almost shaking, bless it, because it seems terrified of Ouba.
“It’s okay, Luna, she’s just excited to meet you, right….?” Luna’s owner gets down on his knees to calm her down.
“Lucas”, Lucas offers with a small smile, nodding and looking down at Ouba.
While getting down on his knees to kindly tell Ouba off for scaring her potential new friend Lucas explains the situation to the stranger. “Ouba’s not really used to other dogs, you know,….?” He uses the same tactics the boy used on him in hopes to finding out his name. It does the trick.
“Eliott. I’m Eliott.” Eliott offers his hand and Lucas grabs it and shakes it gently. And as cliché as is it sounds Lucas feels his hand tingling at the touch and judging by the way Eliott’s eyes zero in on their hands he feels the same.
They quickly let go of each other’s hands and look at their dogs, who now seem to be having the time of their lives with each other, rolling on the ground and licking each other like they weren’t just having staring match 15 seconds ago.
“Maybe she could use a friend, then.” Eliott says.
Lucas agrees with a nod and a smile, getting up. “Maybe we could grab a coffee and go to the park? You know, so Luna and Ouba can get properly acquainted?” he suggests shyly, rubbing the back of his neck.
“Right now?” Eliott looks troubled, suddenly, getting up from the ground as well.
“If you’re free, of course.” Lucas is quick to add.
“It’s just. I have to go back to the parlour to close it in like, half an hour.” Eliott looks almost sad.
A tattoo artist, then. Okay.
“It’s alright. I, we, uh, we can do this another time. It’s no problem….”
“No!” Eliott almost shouts. “I’d really like to do this now, actually. Do you mind walking back with us to the parlour? It’s a 20 minute walk back and it’ll only take a minute to close it.” He looks almost desperate now.
Lucas smiles. “We’d love to.”
Eliott looks relieved when he smiles back.
So off they go, Luna and Ouba guiding the way.
Later, when Eliott drops him off at his flat with a kiss on his cheek, the promise to do this again tomorrow and his number saved on his phone under Eliott/Luna, Lucas thinks to himself that maybe deciding to walk Ouba in the middle of a crises was the best idea he’s had in a long time.
-
This is for @loca-over-luca because ilu and because you’re the most patient person with me when I come up with a thousand elu fic ideas that I end up not writing, so thank you for telling me I could do this and cheering me on.
This idea came up to me when I was getting home from uni and saw a man and a woman waiting for their dogs to stop sniffing each other at the sidewalk so they could go on with their lives, lmao. I’m sorry for the lack of creativity regarding Ouba’s name it’s just I can’t see a pomeranian with a name that’s not Ouba.
English isn’t my first language so sorry for any mistakes.

Have you ever been served breakfast in bed? >> Maybe once or twice? A long time ago? What is the most challenging meal you have ever cooked? >> I make a point of avoiding challenges in cooking, unfortunately. I’m really averse to fucking up food, for multiple reasons. I’ll get over myself eventually, but it’s just not a priority right now.
Are you one to approach others, or let them approach you first? >> I mean, in what sense... What was your favorite thing to do as a little kid? >> Well, my paracosm at that time was a city called Jacana Heights, and Eden Long and I would perform in movies for the entertainment of the populace (I think they like, thrived on it... like, in a sustenance sense? I’m not sure of the logistics because I didn’t think that deeply about the worldbuilding of things back then). So I did that a lot. Here on Earth, I kind of just... cut out clothes for paper dolls for hours at a time, built things with building sets, played with my dog, and later on, played computer games. Are holidays as fun for you now as they were when you were younger? >> I didn’t get any holiday experiences at all as a child, except for when I was thirteen and then it was actually horrible lmao, so actually... I have a lot more fun with holidays now.
Do you find non-fiction to be boring? >> Nah, unless it’s a subject I literally don’t care anything about. Like... Republicans.  Are you a punctual person? Or are you always late? >> I’m not always anything. Do you own a thesaurus? Do you actually use it? >> Nah, Google is my thesaurus. What is the longest essay or research paper you have written? >> Ten pages about Jim Morrison in junior year. Do you ever write your own short stories? >> Hell yeah. Sometimes I even still do. Have you ever been close to drowning? >> Twice. Have you ever had a panic attack? >> Yes. Do you find it easy to relate to other people? >> It gets a little easier as time goes on, and as I meet more people. But I think it’s part of the human condition to always feel a little set apart. I just try not to give that feeling too much credit, because it doesn’t exactly know what it’s talking about. Are you ashamed to leave the house when not looking your best? >> No. Are you modest? >> Nah, not really. Do you ever worry about your loved ones dying? >> Not especially. Like, I don’t actively worry about it, since grief doesn’t particularly frighten me as much as other things do. That doesn’t mean I’m like “oh cool whatevs” at the idea of people I love dying or anything, it’s just... not a worry. Do you watch any Japanese anime? >> I’m coming around to it. I was talking to someone on Discord and they mentioned that it seemed like the older a Western person is when they’re introduced to anime, the more time they have acclimating to the differences from Western media. So really, I’m not alone in how much I struggled to like, connect with anime the way people who have grown up with it do. I was out here thinking there was something wrong with my brain meats because no one had ever presented it that way to me. Damn. Anyway, the ones I’ve liked so far are Kill La Kill, Ouran High School Host Club, Mahoutsukai no Yome, Kuroshitsuji, Puella Magi Madoka Magica (is that even the right order lmao), and... yeah, I guess Axis Powers Hetalia, although overall I connected to the fandom more than the anime itself. Is there a foreign culture you are interested in learning more about? >> You damn right. Do you have your own laptop computer? >> I have two. Will this week be a good one? >> I mean, it’s a week. I suppose it’s all right, as far as weeks go. Who is the last person that texted you? >> Sparrow. When is the next time you work? >> I don’t. Where did you get the shirt you’re wearing? >> It’s an undershirt, I have no idea. What are you going to do next? >> I’m not sure. Maybe another survey, maybe I’ll go back to my dashboard, maybe I’ll randomly start breakdancing, who the fuck knows. Do you currently have feelings for anybody? >> Sure. Do you enjoy eating veggies? >> Very much. Do you know the difference between a vegan and a vegetarian? >> Yes. Who did you text most today? >> I didn’t text anyone. Do you have a reason to frown right now? >> Sure, I suppose. I have reasons to do any facial expression at any given time, because like... life be like that. What brand is your straightener? >> --- Do you own any Converse? >> Nope, they hurt my feet and fuck up my gait because of my pronounced arches. Are you wearing socks? >> Nope. Do you enjoy long car rides? >> I enjoy a lot of things about long car rides. The freedom of the open road is one of those “quintessential American(tm) things” that I actually deeply understand and yearn for. I enjoy being in cars, probably because I spent so much of my childhood around them and in them. I like talking to the people I’m in the car with -- a lot of good conversations are likely to happen during car rides, especially on highways, because there’s not a whole lot of distractions, just you all and the road. However, I don’t like being stuck in the car for hours at a time without a chance to stretch my body, and sleeping in the car is a fuck. So, you know. Downsides. What’s the last thing you drank? >> Water. Who was the last person you talked to before you went to bed last night? >> Hallie, online, and Can Calah, here. Are you one of those people who are always cold? >> No, I get hot much quicker than I get cold. Are you wearing any clothes that don’t belong to you? >> No. Do you paint your nails? >> Occasionally. Do you like doing laundry?
 >> I mean, more than other chores, sure. There aren’t a lot of steps, it doesn’t involve icky things, and it’s not very time- or energy-consuming (the machines do most of the work). How about the dishes? >> Eh. I prefer doing the dishes in a sink with a window over it... anyway, we use the dishwasher. Do you even like doing housework? >> No. That’s probably really clear, lmao. Don’t you hate being blamed on? >> Of course. Do you even care about politics? >> Not the bits that don’t immediately affect me. Have you ever met anyone famous? >> Yeah, I met... multiple musicians, and Criss Angel once. And Julianne Moore! I keep forgetting about her. Do you check your email everyday? >> The Gmail Checker app in my browser alerts me whenever there’s new email, so I just... rely on that. Do you have a membership to the gym? >> I do, and I really need to fucking terminate it, but the legal bullshit is so overwhelming (gyms can be really fucking cagey and I wish I’d known that before I gave them my fucking bank account information to open a membership) that I never do it. Ugh. Do you tan? >> No. What is your natural hair color? >> Dark brown. Is it that right now? >> Yep. Do you prefer guys with dark hair or light hair? >> I can’t be bothered to care. When was the last time someone gave you flowers? >> Valentine’s Day. Do you expect to be married in the next two years? >> Yes. Do you have someone who is protective of you (father, brother, etc.)? >> No. Would you ever get implants? >> Probably not, unless it was subdermals. Have you ever dated someone of another race? >> Obviously. What did you drink at the last party you went to?: >> What was the last party I went to... Does the last person you text messaged have any tattoos or piercings?: >> Tattoos, yeah. Someone asks if you’re okay, but you’re not. Do you tell them the truth?: >> Depends on who’s asking. If it’s some person on the internet that I don’t really talk to, then they don’t get those kinds of details. Do you know anyone whose birthday is today?: >> No. How did you meet the last male you text messaged?: >> --- Where was the last place you went, that you hadn’t been to before?: >> Chicago in general. Last person to text you? >> Sparrow. Are you mad at anyone right now? >> No. How do you feel about your hair right now? >> It’s there. Being hair.  Are you wearing jeans, shorts, sweatpants or pajama pants? >> I think these are considered sweatpants. What are you doing tomorrow? >> I don’t know, chillin, I guess. Is your hair up or down right now? >> It’s not anything. Do you know how to play poker? >> I’ve forgotten by now. Have you ever had an ear infection? >> Nope. What’s your favourite thing to order when you get Chinese food? >> I like chicken satay and lo mein or like... I don’t know, something with a lot of crunchy vegetables. And seafood. What did you have for breakfast this morning? >> The first meal I ate was the veggie burger. Are your nails painted a dark or light color? >> No. What color was the last fish you had? >> Like... as a pet? I’ve never had one. Have you ever read in the bathtub? >> No. Have you ever put ice cubes in milk? >> No. What do you use to remove your makeup at night? >> If I happened to be wearing makeup at some point, I’d use Burt’s Bees face cleaner wipes to remove it. Do you use the Facebook chat often? >> Nope. Do you have any baby pictures of yourself on your computer? >> Digital photos didn’t exist when I was born, and I’ve never scanned any physical ones. Do you eat onion rings? >> Rarely. When did you last go to the zoo? >> I don’t remember. It was probably the ElectriCritters thing with Hallie. I really don’t go to the zoo that often, lmao. How many cardigans do you own? >> Two. One has a big skull on the back and the other one’s a Slytherin cardigan. Do you own a robe? >> Yeah, it’s a Ravenclaw one. (I’m a Slytherclaw, lol.) Music is playing right now, isn’t it? >> It was, but I paused it to listen to the rain. Do you have a little sister? What’s her name? >> No. What kind of shampoo do you use? Does it smell amazing? >> I use conditioner sometimes, and it smells like peppermint, so yeah, amazing. Have you ever buried a time capsule with a friend? Did you dig it up yet? >> No. How many pairs of shoes do you have? Are they under your bed? >> Two, not counting rain and snow boots, and no, they’re by the apartment door. Have you ever had to be put to sleep at a hospital? Why? >> I misunderstood that for a second because “put to sleep” is what people say about euthanising animals, lol. I was like, “uh, I’m pretty sure no one’s killed me at the hospital, brah” and then I realised. No, I’ve never been given general anaesthesia, but I have been sedated. When are you planning on moving out of your parents’ house? >> I did that already. Do you like crust on pizza or do you cut it off?
 >> I don’t eat it, usually. What was the last song you listened to? >> I don’t remember now, but False King by Two Steps From Hell is playing. What is your favorite lunch meat? >> I like chicken breast or turkey on a sandwich. Why aren’t you texting the last person you kissed? >> Can Calah doesn’t have a phone. He doesn’t need one. Who was the last person you texted? >> Sparrow. Do you have any sisters? >> Yeah, two. Do you have to watch yourself in the mirror while you brush your teeth? >> Yeah, because like... I drool toothpaste everywhere when I’m brushing my teeth, lmao. So I gotta pay attention. Who in your phone has a heart after their name? >> No one. Do you think anyone has feelings for you? >> Yes. Does everyone deserve a second chance? >> Sure, even if it’s not necessarily from me. I don’t believe in condemning anyone.

Reality Bites vs. How to Make An American Quilt: A Cross-Analysis (sort of)
I wasn’t going to post this but @free-winona made me. Peer pressure is bad
So I’ve always gravitated towards Reality Bites and How to Make An American Quilt in terms of movies that Winona Ryder has made. And why not? They’re pretty great films, and to me, they showcase Winona’s acting abilities the best. Here she is, playing characters her age, characters that could easily be incarnations of Winona if she hadn’t chosen to pursue acting. And moreover, her characters are everything we wish we could be in our twenties, even if they’re ordinary people: they’re smart, kind, dedicated, passionate, and (frankly) adorable. They’re disorganized and unfocused and awkward at times, but people still love them. And I, as a twenty-something, can relate to these spirited twenty-something characters.
But recently, I’ve realized how similar these two characters really are. And what does an academically-driven person do when school is out? Write a fucking essay. Here’s my cross-analysis of Lelaina Pierce from Reality Bites and Finn Dodd from How to Make An American Quilt (thanks Kayla for pushing me to do this).
Now the first and most obvious similarity is the fact that Winona did these movies one after the other, with only Little Women between the two. Winona apparently got a lot of flak for playing the same character over and over again, and maybe these two movies is where that comes from. And maybe I’m biased, but I really don’t see the validity in that argument. Here’s a brief timeline of that part of Winona’s career: she did three period pieces in a row (Dracula, The Age of Innocence, and The House of the Spirits), then came Reality Bites and American Quilt with another period piece in between the two, and two movies after that, she did another period piece with The Crucible. Yes, you can argue that characters can be similar even though some wear corsets and participate in high society drama while others wear muscle tanks and drink Diet Coke like it’s their job, but it just seems irrelevant to compare them and to allege that Winona acted herself into a corner, so to speak. She was a twenty-something at the time, so I think it’s natural for her to gravitate towards roles that she can relate to. Anyway, I’m done with this point, moving on.
The second similarity is the fact that both characters are twenty-something’s adrift in their careers. Both Lelaina and Finn struggle to make the right choices, and encounter pitfalls along the way. They both have passion, but it’s a little misguided, especially in Finn’s case. Part of her character arc is “will she or won’t she finish her Master’s thesis.” Lelaina’s main pitfall is that she is easily discouraged. She overhears her boss criticizing her and immediately sabotages her job, and then she applies for a few jobs and immediately gives up when that doesn’t work out.
The third similarity is that both characters are at the center of a love triangle. Yeah, I don’t wanna talk about it either, but it needs to be said. Lelaina must choose between Troy, her slacker, philosophy-douche best friend, and Michael, a career-driven young man who works for a TV network not unlike MTV. Finn must choose between Sam, her sort-of-fiancee (he proposes pre-beginning-of-the-film and she immediately flees to her grandmother’s house for the summer), and Leon, a guy from her grandmother’s town who we never really get much about other than he sells strawberries or something? I don’t know. In the end, they both choose the familiar option, although not the best. And that takes us to our next argument.
The third similarity is that they both chose the wrong guy, at least in my opinion. Troy is somewhat mean-spirited and douchey, and also lazy, but goddammit if he doesn’t have those puppy dog eyes that ultimately win her over. And let’s not forget that creepy song he sang about her in the club in front of everyone (why can’t you get just one kiss? BECAUSE YOU’RE AN ASS, THAT’S WHY). Also that one moment where he says he’s in love with her and then is like “JK, fuck you lmao.” Finn’s fiancee is never really given much characterization other than the fact that he’s a carpenter. But he’s the wrong choice for several reasons. Firstly, when Finn balks at his off-screen proposal, she asks for some time to work things out and work on her thesis and they agree to reconvene in September. But guess who’s back after what I can only assume is a few weeks with blueprints of their new house (which includes a room for a future baby. Yikes). He gets mad at her when she continues to balk about plans for the future, which I can understand. They have their little fight and he drives home and she tries to call him to apologize, but another woman picks up the phone. It’s later explained that she dialed the wrong number (back when no one had cell phones and we actually had to remember phone numbers), but I don’t believe that. From what little we see of him, he seems like someone who doesn’t respect her space, which is a problem I can only see getting worse once they’re married. This does not mean that I think Lelaina should have chosen Michael, or Finn should have chosen Leon. All these men kinda suck in my opinion. In an ideal world, Lelaina should have gone gay for her best friend Vickie and Finn should have ditched both guys and focused on her career.
Yet another similarity is the fact that both see their career crumble. They both have lofty aspirations, but these aspirations don’t win out in the end, which makes me sad. For Lelaina, she graduated valedictorian of her university, but still finds herself as an assistant to an asshole talk show host. She eventually sabotages this job and gets fired with the knowledge that she was going to be fired eventually anyway (a point which NO ONE seems to remember when talking about her actions, I mean come on). She briefly searches for a job, finds nothing, and spirals into a chain-smoking, TV-watching, cheese-curl-eating depression, which also includes running up her phone bill by talking for hours on end with a tele-psychic. It gets even worse when she gives Michael, Love Interest #2, the footage of her precious documentary and he and his evil MTV-esque corporation edit it into unrecognizability. For Finn, she is, I’m assuming, a grad student at UC Berkeley who is supposed to be writing a thesis, but keeps changing the topic. Things are further complicated when she loses her thesis in a windstorm (this was in that unimaginable time when laptops weren’t very popular) and is forced to start over. We never actually see either character’s career pan out, which is my last point.
Last but not least, both characters’ careers are never really resolved. Coincidentally, the resolution is tossed aside to answer the burning question “which guy will she choose,” which pisses me off to no end. In Lelaina’s case, after her disastrous documentary premiere, she falls into the arms of Troy. There’s some angsty back-and-forth, but she ultimately ends up with him and career what? She is seen moving apartments with him at the end and eagle eyes can spot the nicotine patch on her arm which tells us she’s giving up smoking and getting her shit together, BUT WHAT ABOUT HER CAREER. Then there’s the fact that Michael steals the premise of her documentary and recasts it with Lelaina and Troy clones. I guess artistic copyright isn’t a thing. Then there’s Finn, who loses the draft of her thesis in a windstorm and decides to start over, but again WE NEVER SEE THAT. All we get is that she goes back to her fiancee and decides to marry him, despite overwhelming evidence that this is a Bad Idea.
Alright, I’m getting angry, so I’ll stop writing now. All in all, I love these films. I love these characters. The films and the characters have their problems, but it’s comforting for me to see that life can work out okay sometimes.

Yet another HP FT AU
Okay so I know this has been done hundreds of time and well. idk tbh :D. I always see Natsu in Gryffindor, but to me he always felt for like a Hufflepuff, cus the stem for all of his violence and the main point of his actions is family. To find his family, to protect it, and he gets most upset when he sees people disrespecting their family. Not to mention how level headed Natsu can be when he wants to, and the strategy he uses. What I’m saying is that I disagree with fanon Natsu lol.
And ofc if I see Natsu I have to think of Lucy and then this spiraled and welp.
(Shout out to @thehexperiment for letting me beta her own beautiful hp au and planting the seed for me to do this lmao)
Natsu:
Hufflepuff and hoo boy does that child have issues with it at first.
He was raised by Igneel after his parents were killed at the age of 3 by his homicidal and power hungry brother, Zeref, who claimed that Natsu was his by birth right and the only family he had left bcus he’s literally insane
Anyhow
Igneel was a dragon keeper and World Renowned Gryff, an expert and the only one who had ever successfully communicated and had been brought into a nest. He later taught his team of dragon experts the language and they too were adopted.
before The Accident
He lived with Igneel until Igneel died a week after he went to Hogwarts.
The sorting hat said Hufflepuff within seconds and Natsu had a loud fight with it before storming away in tears. His last letter to Igneel was one complaining, and he didn’t even ask Igneel how the trip was going
Natsu never forgave himself for ‘being a terrible son’
He remained closed off and had loud but shallow relationships with everyone, bcus no one believed that Igneel was still alive even though Natsu swore it
He was also mocked bcus of his punk hair which was a result of Natsu accidentally spilling one of Igneels dragon scale cleaning potions of his head while trying to get chocolate. It was specialty from an exotic island and it made the person breath fire. It was Natsu’s favourite
He eventually finds friends with all of the Strauss family in his house, and if something explodes/is a minor inconvience they know Natu had something to do with it.
His pet is a salamnder named Happy who he enchants to be able to chnage shape, including having wings and speaking, but bcus the magic is forbidden to anyone under seventh year and Natsu did it in second, well, no one is really allowed to know.
Everyone knows
Happy likes being a cat best, but he can turn into a small dragon.
His best class is Defense Against the Dark Arts, which is taught by Gildarts, and his worst class history of magic bcus it’s just so??? boring??? who cares about the war or who Mavis was.
His favourite class is Magical beasts bcus of his dad, but he doesn’t get the best marks due to constantly cuddling the animals and trying to smuggle the babies back to his room. Does Natsu run an underground beast babysitting service? Who knows.
the answer is yes
He has a room alone due to a lack of boys in his year, which is fine bcus the boy is a hoarder. He also has a painting of Igneel that he talks to in his room, and sometimes its almost like his dad is still there.
Almost.
Lucy:
She comes from a long line of pure blood slytherins
Her mom came from the most prestigious of bloodlines, the Heartfilias, and there was a minor scandal when she married a man from a much lower, tho still pure and respected, family.
When her mother died Jude threw himself into meeting the standards of the family and in turn became cold hearted and ignored his only daughter in favour of his own pride
Lucy became an embarrassment when she broke the long chain of Slytherin by being chosen as Ravenclaw, a decision the hat came to immediately
even though after five minutes there was still a debate with Lucy as she tried to understand if he had a soul or not. The hat considered hufflepuff when Lucy asked if he was doing well, but that was quickly extinguished  by her winding questions and her love of solving riddles/proving her point.
Her father all but disowns her and scoffs at her blue scarf and books, instead setting up marriages to maintain his image and trying to keep ‘her worth’
Is best friends with Levy, fellow Ravenclaw, and is somehow always partnered with the Hufflepuff boy who makes things explode ala Seamus Finnigan
Her fave class is potions bcus she always finds a way to improve them, and is easily led astray by Natsu’s questions until the two have created a new horn cleaning serum that helps with growth rather than the simple potion they were supposed to. Porlyusica loves/hates them.
Lucy’s worst class is also History of Magic, but that’s bcus she gets too involved in it and never actually answers the essay question.
Lucy wasn’t allowed to get a pet and was supposed to use the family owl, but her father banned it from her when she was put into Ravenclaw.
So she enchanted a stuffed animal her mother had gotten her.
Plue constantly shakes, Levy saying bcus the spell is fighting to stay connected. Natsu says it’s cus he’s cold.
Lucy loves her tiny shaky not-dog
Her mother is constantly called the brightest witch of her age, and Lucy struggles to live up to that namesake. Lucy uses her mother as proof that not all Slytherins are bad.
All the celestial professors love her bcus of this, as they were very fond of her mother. Especially Aquarius, the astronomy teacher. (Aquarius hates the dual Astrology/divination teachers, the pieces twins. No one knows why)
Gray:
Slytherin along with Cana. Cana doesn’t really care about bloodlines, and Gray’s father was disowned and torn from the family portait for marrying a muggle born Mika. His parents died in an earthquake that followers of Zeref set off trying to summon their master.
He and Lucy are family friends, as Lucy can relate to being throw aside.
He and Natsu are frenemies and have ganged together to beat up other bullies before trying to beat one another up.
His pet is an owl named Ice Beak bcus he was ten and it is pure white.
He and Natsu get into little passive agressive spats in which Gray will freeze Natsu’s entire room and Natsu, in turn, will pour an entire packet of fire beans into Gray’s soup.
Lucy is Tired
Gray tried to doge Juvia the first two years after she transferred to Hogwarts from Drumstang their third year. She was placed into Hufflepuff as well, much to everyones confusion. They eventually started dating after Gray grew attached to her presence and hopefulness. He still doesn’t know how to show affection, but Juvia has an unmeltable ice heart she keeps beside her bed.
Natsu teases Gray about it constantly.
Gray retaliates every time Lucy has another little fluffy animal poking it’s nose out of her robe pocket.
Erza:
head of Gryffindor house
literally everyone is terrified of her, even those not in her house.
orphaned at a young age and stolen by a group of Zeref’s followers to eventually be used as a sacrifice with hundreds of others to summon Zeref.
Escaped and was taken in by Hogwarts Headmaster Makarov at age 9.
Raised alongside fellow Gryff Laxus
Pet is a red owl that was the runt of the litter. He likes to sleep in Erza’s hair.
No one can find it in themselves to let their fear be diminished as Erza is hunting them with a sleeping owl nested in her hair
Even Makarov is terrified of her when she’s in a rage
Natsu is usually about to die get detention
This got long but whoops it was fun :D

Have you ever been afraid to get up and go to the bathroom? This is usually me between 1 to 4 AM lmao. Do you get any magazines in the mail? No, I’ve never subscribed. When I still collected magazines I’d buy them at the mall, but we never use the subscription leaflet thingies that they’d insert inside. How many websites do you have an account for? Too many to count honestly, but I regularly use around over 15. Have you ever paid for any kind of online membership? I’m part of Spotify and Netflix memberships but I pay for neither. Gab lets me use her Spotify which is paid for by her parents. :(( and my dad pays for our Netflix family bundle. Do you try clothes on before you buy them? No, it’s so time-consuming and uncomfortable. I have a good idea of how my body is built anyway so I just pick up pieces I like and buy them.
Have you seen The Blindside? I tried watching, but it was so unbelievably boring and I never finished it. What's the best movie you've seen this year? Portrait of a Lady on Fire. Do you know how to fire a gun? No. I’ve never held a real one, ever. What would you do if you knew a robber was in your house? Take my dog and hide somewhere. Idk, I have a feeling the neighbors would be pretty unreliable so I don’t think screaming for help would do anything. I’d rather stuff taken than have anyone get hurt. Have you played the Sims 3, yet? I’ve never gotten to play it, no. What's your favorite type of pizza? I will always order quattro formaggi and nothing else.
Do you have a favorite local pizza place? Not really. My favorite branch is Yellow Cab, but I don’t have a favorite independent pizza place. What are you afraid of? Just because I recently got three injections to the roof of my mouth and it reminded me of my fear of these: needles. Have you ever been afraid of falling in love? Yeah. It was very scary for me while it was happening because it was with my best friend, and there was always that chance of our friendship crumbling if I tell her how I felt. Fortunately it didn’t go that route. How do you let someone know that you like them? I like to be straightforward and just tell them I like them. Have you ever asked a friend to ask someone else out for you? No. Who'd you last see in a tux? In any context, Ross Geller from Friends. In real life, it’d probably some dude in BGC since a lot of people there dress fashionably. Were you sad when Tim Urban got sent home on American Idol? I remember the name, but I don’t remember being enthusiastic over him during that season. I didn’t dislike him either though; I guess he was one of the contestants I didn’t particularly keep an eye on.   What about Jason Castro, 2 years ago? He was good but I didn’t like his genre, so I wasn’t too devastated when he was eliminated. Do you record any TV shows and watch them later? My mom did this for us once with a movie that was premiering on the Disney Channel – Jump In – but otherwise, recording shows was never as popular here as much as it was in like the States. Do you have difficulty pronouncing any words? I hate having to pronounce the words beautiful and bureaucracy. Would you rather take a shower or a bath? Bath. I get to do it much less often, but I also find it infinitely more relaxing. How many times do you shower in a week? At least four and at most six. What brand's your cell phone? Apple. Have you ever sexted? In the past. Haven’t in a while though.
How many contacts do you have? I have...too many contacts to count manually. It doesn’t help that at one point, Gabie’s contacts synced to my phone as well so now I have a bunch of her numbers as well. I’ve just gotten too lazy to delete them this whole time so they’re all still just sitting on my contact list. Do you have your own computer? Yep, I’m using it right now. Out of everyone you know, who was the most heart? If you’re talking about kindness, Laurice. If you’re talking about ambition and passion...I’d say probably Tina and Bryan. Who's the bravest person you know? Not so sure about that. I think everyone I know is all scared in their own way lmao. Who would you want to have your back if things got tough? Gab, of course. And she has been having my back. Do you ever make up retarded words with your friends? First of all, dumb word choice. Second, no. Have your friends ever given you answers to homework, last minute? I think we all did these for each other back in high school minutes before algebra period. Have you ever dated someone who was real sportsy? Back in high school, I guess Gab was a little sportsy. I know she played softball and before that, basketball. She isn’t much into sports these days though. Are you any good at writing? I can write mean essays and research papers, but you can’t pay me to come up with a poem or short story. What's your favorite form of writing? I like learning and picking up new info more than anything else so I like reading educational stuff in a Wikipedia-like format, honestly. I’m not sure how else to describe that haha. What do you think about Lil Wayne? The autotune is a little weird but other than that I don’t really care for him. Lil Wayne Vs. Eminem...?? :S Probably Lil Wayne? Eminem has his fair share of problematic lyrics over the years and Lil Wayne has just always struck me as super chill lol. Have you ever given up on someone before? Sure. Did you end up regretting it later in life? Never. I tend to give people so many chances to get better so once I finally cut them out, it just means they’ve fucked up enough for me not to regret finally giving up on them. Have you ever done something terrible, but took forever to feel bad? Yes. Have you ever read Shakespeare? I had to read Shakespeare in high school. R&J for freshman year, Merchant of Venice in sophomore year, Macbeth in junior year, Hamlet in senior year. How come no one knows what MGMT is on here? Sorry to make you feel worse but I had to Google that too just now. What did you dream about last night? Nah, I straight up passed out last night. I was too tired. Have you ever looked up the meaning to a dream? Sure, especially if the dream was a nightmare. Have you ever tried to change someone? No, I don’t think I’ve done this before. Can anyone really change anyone that doesn't wanna change? That’s a pretty deep question, but I’m not in the mood to dive in much so I’ll just say it’ll always be a different reaction from person to person. Do you thnk that anyone currently has a crush on you? Other than my girlfriend, I doubt it. What profession do you admire the most? Those that have to deal with ALL KINDS of people, honestly. Servers, cashiers, salespeople in stores, grocery clerks, etc. Mad fucking respect. I’m sorry for the boomers and Gen X people who flip out over the smallest things, babies who spill shit everywhere, customers who nag way too much, and for all the Karens and the Barbaras of the world. Have you ever made a fake profile, for any reason? I don’t think I ever did this. What's the hardest lesson you've ever had to learn? World doesn’t stop for your grief. What are you wearing right now? I am wearing the blue dress I wore out today because I am too lazy to change. Do you miss your ex? No ex. What's the first thing you notice about the opposite sex? If they are a dick and if they are loud, because most of the ones I’ve encountered tick both of these boxes. Have you ever questioned your sexuality? Yes. I still do these days. If you could change one thing about your life, what would it be and why? Money. We have more than enough and I’m always grateful, but it’s a very human thing to always be wanting more of it anyway, and I fall under that tendency as well.
