So I once read a crackpost on here that said that Todd hated Ballister because he had a crush on Ambrosius and was jealous when the two got together and now I can’t get it out of my head.

You bet I’m not complaining though.

Todd watched from a tree as Ambrosius threw his arm around Ballister. Ballister jumped at first, but soon melted into his boyfriend’s arms. Todd balled his fists and felt his face heat up.

Ballister came from no notable families, no wealth, he didn’t even have a sponsor. Todd was descended from one of the original knights chosen alongside Gloreth herself. If Ambrosius and Todd married one day, they could join their two families, adopt a few children with wealthy backgrounds, and become parents to some of the best knights ever known.

Instead? Ambrosius had settled for a street rat. His hair hadn’t even been trimmed when The Queen first plucked him from obscurity, and now he had Goldenloin wrapped around his finger.

As Ambrosius whispered something in Ballister’s ear, Todd wondered what he saw in him. Obviously, not his reputation. Wait…his reputation. The public hated Ballister, but he was skilled. He had kicked Todd’s, and even Ambrosius’ arse in training. He was at the top of their class.

But…he couldn’t be the best if he somehow injured himself, could he?
