Aw, that's cute! I don't really know anything about Once Upon A Time but I like your story so far!
I'm actually gonna go on a separate tangent here but it's still storybook/fantasy related,,,
There's a game called Night of the Full Moon where (depending on the game mode) you play as Little Red Riding Hood. Your best friend is the Little Carpenter, aka Jerry. In the original game, you're trying to discover the secret of the Black Forest and why people are disappearing/turning into monsters/find your Grandma. In the normal ending, you cycle through fighting a Witch, A Priest (those two are working together to kill you because you have magic blood and you're the only one that can purify the corruption they cast), a Werewolf (who keeps insisting he didn't take your grandma and he doesn't want to fight you), and the final boss is the Cursed Werewolf (who initially possesses your Grandmother to kill the Priest, and then tries to get you to join him to kill the Priest's congregation, who are all either cluelessly complicit or malicious). The True Ending involves you discovering Jerry is actually the werewolf (the son of the Cursed Werewolf, but neither of them are aware of it). You have to defeat the corrupted Forest Spirit in order to purify the forest/save everyone. Jerry (who is in love with Red but was always too afraid to tell her) sacrifices himself to protect you from the Forest Spirit's spell, and the story ends with him dying.
The sequel (called The Wishing Night) starts talking about how Red knows Jerry isn't really gone, and she'll stop at nothing to find him. A map is delivered to her (we don't know by who, but I have some guesses) that details a magical cave that's accessible on the night of the full moon. Deep within the cavern is a Wish God. If you can defeat him, he'll grant you a wish. There are two bosses you have to fight; the first is the Wolf Illusion. The illusion uses Jerry's voice and some of his voice lines from the original ('I don't wanna hurt you!' 'Don't push me!' etc) aND ALSO ONE OF THE LINES IS 'Little Red Riding Hood... I-' AND THEN IT FUCKING CUTS AND I KNOW HE WAS GONNA CONFESS BUT THEN HE FUCKING DOESNT AND I SCREECHED A LITTLE THE FIRST TIME I HEARD IT BECAUSE I WASNT EXPECTING IT AND IT HURT MY HEART. AND THEN THERE'S ANOTHER LIKE WHERE HE SAYS 'WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS TO ME?!' AND I BAWL. Anyways once you defeat the Illusion, you learn it was actually the 'Wish God' who was trying to trap you in an illusion to steal your powers. But since you won the fight, he offers you a wish. You wish to see what happened to Jerry and you just see him getting killed by the Forest Spirit again. You ask where Jerry is now and the Wish God says he'll give you one more chance, so you have to go through the battle map again. When you do, you get the option to fight The Eye Of Truth. When you beat him you get this message
Tumblr media
Which is the end of Wishing Night and now we're waiting for the next chapter. There's also a whole concurrently-running plot where the Queen of the kingdom (who we're just meeting for the first time so we don't know much about her) enters the Wish Cave to try and find a cure for her ailing husband, the King, at the same time as Red. Apparently she has an enchanted voice and the Wish God wants her power, so he takes the form of the King to trap her in an illusion. When you defeat the Eye of Truth, you get this message
Tumblr media
Which I'm assuming sets us up for whatever the next chapter is gonna be.
So. Uh. I've maybe scribbled up an AU where Sage is Jerry and MC is Red. Alternatively, Lucan could be Jerry and Sage could be Red.
Anyways I'm back from dealing with my grandparents, which was frustrating and depressing. Hope classes are going good!

"Shhhh. The kids are sleeping."
Line art of some characters from Night of the Full Moon in a sleep pile. Little Red Riding Hood and Bunny are fast asleep on the Tin Man's chest. The Magician is on the Tin Man's shoulder. The two of them are smiling at one another.
This summer I kind of finally figured out my own brain, that I'm really too ADHD and autistic to enjoy writing novel length things, however I can write short stories. Also that selling my work stresses me out. So I finally decided to just write the things I wanted to write the most.
I've been working on a series of short stories about the enemy characters in Night of the Full Moon, mostly centering around the Tin Man and the Magician who, at some point, I decided wanted to be my final ship. Pictured is a peek into what kind of peace they might know in the future, in which they have each other and the affection of children.
Monday I go back to work. I have full time and summers finally and I'm feeling quite at ease. More stories about these two are planned but I'm not sure if I'll keep up with it. I did want to make a little piece of art to commemorate how much my little projects each summer mean to me.

Hello hi Notfm fandom, how alive are we? Just redownloaded the game after like a year because I was tempted to and I forget how much I loved the characters of this game.
All I'm going to say is that Croc Dad low-key made me cry despite the fact that the devs are trying to retcon it. Sorry but it'll always be Croc Dad and Wolf Son in my heart. Lumberjack you're still get to be dad 2 however.

Took me a while to notice, but the new playable character in the new NoTFM campaign is an enemy from the original. Nice. I wonder if we'll get more mooks-to-playable-characters in the future.

Night of the Full Moon Character Reviews: The Big Bosses(Minus Werewolf)
Hello again
I know I said I’d be talking about the Hunter, Old Mage, Fallen Priest and so on today, but I realized that those characters were actually more interesting in the context of other characters, so I put them off for later.  I decided instead to talk about the main bosses of the game, as it so happens, are the closest people to Red Riding Hood.  Because this game wants to be an ironicy soap opera/anime that way.
Tumblr media
When I say Big Bosses, I mean that you always fight one of these characters at the end of the game.  Unless you’re like me and you start all over at the end because you’re bored and tired of all four of them playwise.
Werewolf
Tumblr media
Wait, no, never mind.  This is another one of those characters who’s more interesting in the context of different, non-Red Riding Hood Characters.  We’re saving this boi for later.  But, you shouldn’t too surprised, if you read the title.  Instead, I’ll just use this space to talk about a mechanic.
Throughout the game, you can get ‘courage’ and ‘reputation’ points by talking to characters.  Very very generally speaking, you get courage points by doing brave things, and you get reputation points for doing nice things.  You also can get courage points when a character talks shit about the werewolf, and reputation points when a character talks shit about the witch.  So naturally, if you have more courage in the end, you get to fight the wolf, and if you have more reputation, you get to fight the witch.  I guess what they’re going for is only a meanie would fight this doggo?  And the witch is who any empathetic person would hate???
I feel like the latter is not the case, but more on that later.
Witch
Tumblr media
“Only your Hope family can lift the dark magic curse.  This is what the priest is most afraid of.  That’s why monsters run wild on full moon nights. First they made your grandmother disappear and then they drew you into the forest...but they never anticipated that you would make it this far.”
By the way, you’re part of a prophecy.  Only someone in your family can lift the curse on the forest.  jsyk
Yeah so, as you see, the Witch’s description does not really tell us much about the witch herself.  This description also pretty unique in that none of the other character descriptions go into the second person like this.  The description also kind of hints that Red dies in the timeline where she fights the witch, so that’s depressing.
Nah, to figure out what the witch is about, you have to delve into the fragments around her.
So, you actually do encounter the witch earlier in the game.  In the third or sometimes second chapter, she will recruit to find some magic apples she lost.  She makes a mention about suspecting a queen of stealing them.  The apples, I guess, are just lying around on the forest floor, and you bite into each of them bc you’re a dumb lkid.  Each apple changes your stats by a few points and the witch does not at all seem upset that you hand her a bunch of bitten fruit at the end.  In fact, she offers you the choice of two random buffs, so that’s fun.
You’re likely to hear about her way before that, though, depending on who you talk to.  Generally anyone who’s been cursed feels like it’s the witch’s fault.
Tumblr media
But if you choose to fight her(or you might not get a choice in the matter) she accuses you of stealing said apples.  She’ll also talk to you throughout the battle until you defeat her- a trait that only the big bosses and a few of the newer ones have.  Her lines...make her sound pretty unhinged.  She’s speaks of disbelief that you would do such a horrible thing, and threatens you with with her magic, and talks about how misunderstood she is.
When you defeat her, she’s got a really interesting line, tho.
“No!  I don’t want to fight you!  I can’t!”
Huh.
Before I move on, let me talk about this other witch character.
Tumblr media
Yep.  That sure is the art style this game is going with.
So this is one of the shopkeepers.  There are four different shops you can find along the way, only two of which have characters you can see in them.  This character is known as the Witch Apothecary...but you can only see that on the outside of her store.  Otherwise she’s just called “Witch”.
The thing is, along the way, characters will talk about the Witch and, they don’t specify that it’s not the one with the white hair.  They just talk about The Witch like she’s the only witch that matters.  So is this woman not really a witch?  A witch wannabe?  Nah, we already have one of those characters.  Could it me that the shopkeepers don’t actually exist in the story of the game?  That would bum me out, bc there’s this lesbian owl I want to be real.
But...I think they’re the same person using shapeshifting.  Or if you want a really wild theory, maybe there are time travel hijinks and she’s the Magic Apprentice grown up.  But I’m going to go ahead with the former.
Anyhoo.  I like the witch.  I’m gonna give her 🍎🍎🍎🍎 four apples
Priest
Tumblr media
“They mistakenly thought that on the full moon night they could help the monsters quietly eliminate Little Red Riding Hood and her grandmother.  Once the Hope family was wiped out, the legend of lifting the curse on the Dark Forest would disappear completely.  However, they didn’t expect they would have to go personally and pay such a high price to fight their enemy. When the priest fell, the cursed monsters reverted to their human forms and the Dark Forest was no longer covered by snow all year round, but the church’s blind greed still remains.”
Again, not much is said about the priest himself.  The most interesting thing here is that he apparently is the keystone holding the curse together.  Interesting, because he seems to be letting the witch do all the work for him.  Usually in these stories, you have to kill the person who casts the spell to break the spell, not just their friend.  Is it because he, himself, is a stone?  That is to say, he turns into a statue sometimes.
Why the heck is he having her turn all his enemies into cartoon monsters instead of killing them, anyway?  Don’t tell it’s to make the game family friendly, bc in one of these timelines a child kills another child.
Honestly, the priest/church just doesn’t make a lot of sense to me.  His big plan is selling everybody from his town as slaves.  Gross.  And the way he accomplishes this is by...making it snow all the time, and turning people into vampires and fire bears?  What?
He is.  A delight to fight.  I’m being sarcastic.  He’s a religious edgelord who likes to go on about how humans are sinners and everyone deserves to be punished.  Also she cheats by turning into stone.  Eh.
It feels like someone just spun a wheel for of evil traits and just stuck them together haphazardly.  His evil plan is...human trafficking!  His personality is...self righteous!  His means is...tf!  His super power is...turning into a statue!
He’s the biggest of bads but also not that thought out.  He’s super important to the over-arching plot and yet I have no idea why this guy does what he does.  I’m gonna give him 🗽🗽 two statues.
Mystery Men
Tumblr media
idek why this person is called “Mystery Men”.  I’m guessing it’s supposed to be mystery man?  Or mysterious person or something?  I know I haven’t talked about the art much but, I do appreciate how much their face looks like a dog snout and her hood looks like dog ears.  It’s a neat touch.
Tumblr media
This description was actually changed.  The new text is longer and more awkwardly worded.  I don’t like it!  And I don’t get why it happened.
But, yeah.  The very last enemy of the game- who you can only reach by playing through at least four times and defeating all three others- is your Grandmother!  Le gasp!
So what exactly went wrong with her?  Oh, nothing, she just has a big wolf growing out of her back(told you the concept was backed up by canon)
Tumblr media
Is this her daemon or patronus or something?  I have no idea.  I’ve been calling her a werewolf sometimes, tho, bc she’s better at being a werewolf than the titular werewolf.  Which is to say she can revive instead of just healing.  Her buffs and deck change throughout the fight.  She’s a long battle, fun, except for her ear piercing voice.  She sounds a bit possessed.
I’ll give her 👁️👁️👁️ three big eyes.  She’s a fun battle, but I always mute it.  Also not real big on how the text got changed for the worse.  But she does add some good details to the story.
In Conclusion...
Grandma’s text tells us a few things.
1. Not only is the Hope family connected to this prophecy, but family members actually have the power to control the curse.  That leads me to believe that the person who got the curse started was a Hope themself.
2. The church came along long after the curse was in full swing.  So the priest is not responsible for it.  Whether he’s a Hope himself is not relevant.
We also know these things:
1. The witch is still the one casting all the tf spells, which is part of the curse.
2. There are two timelines were Red has a natural gift for magic
3. In the Little Witch timeline, the Witch is teaching Red magic.  On top of that she’s v patient, which is surprising, for some reason.
4. The Witch seems a little out of touch with reality.  She sends you to find apples, and then yells at you for stealing them.  Almost like she thinks you’re another person.
5. The witch verbally expresses her desire not to fight you when she realizes who you are.
I have to conclude that the Witch is a Hope.  A Hope who’s close enough to have a fondness for Little Red Riding Hood, and is invested in her well being/education.  And yanno, is turns her enemies into pig people because she can.
She helps you on your quest by giving you one of her own.  But earlier on, she takes on the form of the other witch offer you potions and the like.  She even gives you the first one in each chapter for free.
“My potions can change your appearance!”
Of course she can’t get too close to you.  She can’t reveal that she’s helping you.  Hence putting on a new face when she’s a ‘good’ witch.  One wonders if she’s trying to hide her identity from you, or the people she’s allied with.
Hey can we look at her description again?
Tumblr media
Red doesn’t get addressed in the second person in any of the other descriptions.  There is a character who talks about his life in the first person, and we’ll get to him.  But this is odd to me.
What if Red isn’t being addressed here?  What if it’s someone else?  What if it’s the Witch?
What if the Witch was captured and ensnared in the priest’s plot?  What if he messed with her memory?  So then who is she?  Red’s sister?  It seems like she’s been working with the church a lot longer than Grandma’s been missing.  Also Grandma went into the woods on her own accord.  You could say that the grief the church caused her *made* her go out, but it seems weak.
So maybe a Hope in another generation, who lost her grandmother to- either the church or monsters?  Was it this other Grandmother who *started* the curse?
Dude, what if she’s your Mom?
What if instead of killing her the priest did...something...scared her enough to get her to work for him.  And messed with her memory so she couldn’t conceive a way out?  And sort of had her transfer the power of the curse to him so that people had to kill him to break it?
Tumblr media
What if he had the Church Doctor scoop her brain out and put it in another lady’s head?  Who knows.
I’m not certain about the witch being your mom.  I think I would like that to be the case because it’s fun, but I’m not quite convinced yet.  I AM certain, tho, that the Witch is a Hope, and she cares about you.  She’s not just this cackling meanie turning people into flowers.  She’s...complicated.  And she needs help just as much as all the trapped monsters.

The Werewolf of Border Village
Yep, I’m still writing notfm fic. I wrote this just after the werewolf update came out.
The only difference is I decided to put this on ao3.
Jerry still has gay dads. Deal with it.
He was nine years old the first time.
Not that he hadn’t reacted to the moon before.  Child Jerry seemed to get a little more preoccupied and energetic that one day of the month, or so he heard.  His dads laughed and said that Jerry was storing up energy for these ‘rambunctious periods’.  Being muscular lumberjacks who had been hell-raising kids themselves, they weren’t daunted by a little boy who suddenly took to gnawing on the furniture.
But everything changed that day in the woods.  Jerry woke up particularly energetic and ready to do an honest day’s work.  It was the first day he cut a tree all the way through without one of his dads finishing or starting it for him.  It was a thing skinnier than him, but he was proud.  His dads cheered and he went on his Papa’s shoulders.
It was while chopping the tree up into logs that he got itchy.  Like, terribly itchy.  Bugs on his skin and under it.  His dads were in midst of some kind of argument.  His Father had broken the handle to his axe and Papa was telling him he had to be more careful, and Father shouted back that he was being careful.
“Dads?”  Jerry said weakly, but the lumberjacks got heated and the boy’s words couldn’t be heard.  He groaned, and glanced up into the sky.  Huh, the moon was up early.  It was pretty up there in the blue, like a weird eye.  An eye looking straight at him- inside of him, even.
He couldn’t stand it anymore.  He ran off toward the closest trees.  Things got tight and even more unbearably itchy, and then suddenly, release.
Jerry ran.  He ran faster than he had ever run before.  A stream came into his path and he leaped over it with grace.  He could smell the world around him- trees and squirrels and water.  Everything looked and sounded beautiful.
He climbed a tree and howled with joy.
The howl took him by surprise.  His howls had never sounded like that before.  Actually, they had never felt like that before.  He put his hand on his throat, but there was hair in the way.
He barked, noticing his body.  It wasn’t the way he recognized it.  It was big and muscular, but not in the same way of his dads.  Grey fur covered everything.  His nose so long that it was always in his vision.
“Aia ray roof!”  He said out loud, but it seemed that he couldn’t speak.  I’m a werewolf.  Somehow, it all seemed to fall into place, to answer a question he always had had.
He just had to show his dads!  He jumped down from the tree and landed on confident paws.  He realized that he was unfamiliar with this part of the forest.  The trees had hard, bulbous bark and it seemed particularly close to the the source whatever it was that made it snow all the time here.  He was scared until he realized he could smell his own trail.
He followed it back, and over the stream again, which he realized was more like a brook.  He stopped himself and sniffed it.  He could never leap over this without wading when he was just Jerry…
He howled again because he was happy.  It felt good to express how happy he was, so he howled again, and again.  Then he followed the trail again.  It wasn’t long before new scents entered his nostrils.  Father and Papa!  He had never smelled this before, not consciously, and yet now he knew that this was their smell.
He rushed toward it, into a clearing where the two men were standing back to back, holding their axes.  He loped up to them, wagging his tail.  “Roo rarr ree!”  He ran a circle to show off his new form.
Papa gasped, “There it is!”
“What’s that on it’s neck?  Is that Jerry’s shirt?”
Huh? Why were they calling him an it?  “Rawr?  Ra-ra?”
“It hurt Jerry?”  Father’s teeth showed, “I’ll skin it alive!”
Jerry yelped, and ran.  His dads followed with determination.  Jerry was faster, but every time he would take a rest, his dads would show up not long after.  At one point he lost his shirt.  It continued until dawn broke and Jerry was just too tired to keep running.
He woke up warm, but bruised and beaten.  His fathers were over him.  They cried and they hugged him and admonished for going off alone in the cursed forest, “Thank god we saved you from the werewolf in time!”
“But Papa-” Jerry said weakly.  Everything about him was weak, and small.  In a way, he hated how he was now that he had gotten to be a wolf.  But at least he could talk.
Father cut in, “If I ever see that werewolf again, I’ll turn it inside out and roast it on a spit!”
Jerry jumped.  Father noticed and embraced Jerry, “It’s OK, son.  You’re safe now.”
Jerry hugged him because he’d been robbed of words.
Everything was different after his first transformation.  Although he still looked like a skinny little boy- no relation to either of his bear fathers- he found it easier to carry logs for longer and his reactions were faster.  Even his wolfy sense of smell seemed to stick around, and he identified the unique scents of just about all the residents of Border Village.
His friend Little Red Riding Hood noticed, and she asked him to be a sparring partner.  Jerry was clumsy was a sword, but easily bested her and hand to hand.  He was particularly apologetic one day when he gave her a black eye.  “I shouldn’t fight you anymore, I’m sorry.”
“No, please do!  You’re really strong, Jerry.  If I practice against you, I’ll just keep getting stronger,” she hissed as her grandmother pressed a cool steak into her eye, “I want to get as strong as I can possibly get.”
Jerry stopped going into the forest, though.  It was suggested by his Dads.  Jerry still wasn’t talking about his encounter with the werewolf, and his dads thought that he might be traumatized.  They graciously offered to let him stay with with Granny Hope and Red while they went into the woods.
A door was open, and Jerry couldn’t close it.  He couldn’t put away his strength or his sense of smell in a box.  Neither could he pack away the transformation.  At first he was able to push it off until after his dads or the Hope family were asleep, but it creeped in earlier.  Using herbs he’d gotten from the apothecary, he made his family get sleepy earlier on those nights.
Being a wolf in his or the Hope house was unbearable.  There was the self loathing about what he was, the anxiety that he would be found out.  Granny Hope had a shrugging attitude about werewolves, “They’re just creatures, like crows or cats,” she’d say.  But somehow Jerry didn’t think she’d have that same attitude if she discovered him.
The wolf, too, was anxious on these nights.  His paws would hurt because he wanted nothing more than to run freely. Well.  Of course that’s not what he wanted, but his body wanted that.  He also got hungry on these nights.  Painfully hungry.  He could stave that off by taking second and third servings for supper.  His choice of space also kept his wolf self from being anxious.  If he was free to wander the house, or even confined to his room as a wolf, he felt more anxious.  He was much more comfortable when he put a blanket down in a closet or something, and locked himself in.  Tight spaces soothed the beath.  Sometimes he could even manage to in the closet.
The werewolf turned out to be an excellent excuse for itself.  When his dads or Granny Hope found him naked on the floor of the closet, he could just say that he was scared of werewolves because of that encounter.  This also served fine, as the years went out, to keep him away from the forest.  Even during the broad daylight, Jerry would stay home.  This perturbed Papa.
“How will he ever support himself if he never learns a trade?”
“Have you seen his craftsmanship?” Father said, “The boy’s an artist.  He doesn’t need to cut wood like us.”
And indeed Father was right- Jerry was growing a love of carpentry.  Every piece was a little more adventuresome- a little more intricate.  His pieces starting fetching good money from the adults of Border Village.  Jerry starting working commission.
And so Jerry persisted, maintaining a delicate balance of training and herbs and closets.  He was happy, he told himself.  Yes, he was surrounded by people who loved him- or part of him, anyway.  And he could make beautiful things.  This was more than a werewolf deserved.
Everything got worse when Father died.
Jerry was thirteen.  Papa came home and Father didn’t.  Papa was panting and wild eyed, and embraced Jerry, “Thank god you stayed here, thank god!”
The lumberjacks had been bringing wood back when they walked into a wolf pack.  They defended themselves as best they could but the pack was out for blood.  Then the forest Witch appeared in their midst, laughing, and created an explosion.  One wolf was knocked back in the blast, hitting Papa who was knocked out.
When he came to, the wolves were gone.  The Witch was gone, too, but there was a giant, bloody lizard chewing Father’s axe.  When the lizard saw Papa, it rushed him.  Papa attacked it with both axes and chased it under the water where it got away.
“What are you saying?” Jerry’s voice shook, “The lizard ate Father?”
“No son, don’t you get it?  The lizard was just a scavenger.  It was the werewolves.  With that Witch!”
The Witch, of course.  Jerry had heard rumor of terrifying blue haired woman who control a pack of werewolves for murder and mayhem.  Werewolves...
It was the thing Jerry wanted to hear the least.  Papa took him by the shoulders, “Oh Jerry, I’m so glad you stayed here with your friend.  Jerry, you can’t ever, ever encounter a werewolf.”
“I won’t,” Jerry said weakly.
“You have to promise me you’ll never go into the forest!”
“But I don’t!”
“Promise me,” Papa had tears in his eyes, “not for any reason.  Just stay home.  Make your father proud.  Make beautiful furniture.”
Jerry nodded, and cried into his Papa’s breast.
The wolf was bigger.
It was lots of little things that made it bigger.  Like Jerry’s temper being shorter.  He had no patience for the children on the schoolyard or the teachers.  He was known to get into fist fights.
“What are you trying to prove, Jerry?” Papa said, “Life doesn’t need to be any harder for us right now.”
“I know that, Papa.”
“Then why can’t you just settle?”
Jerry couldn’t answer that with words.
He was so angry he hurt Red again, much to his dismay.  Red forgave him, though, and Granny Hope called for a break.  She offered the kids a warm berry tea.
“Strength isn’t all swordfights and matches,” she said as she removed the teabags, “this is strength, too.  One must know when to mend oneself.”
“I’ll be fine, Grandma,” Red said, “it’s just a bruise.”
“I know that, Little Red, and I wasn’t talking to you,” she turned to Jerry, “you’ve suffered a terrible blow, recently.”
“My Father,” Jerry said, and put on a strong face, “I’m OK, though.  It’s my Papa I need to worry about.”
“I can tell you do,” Granny Hope said, “and he worries about you.”
“Well, he shouldn’t,” Jerry said quickly.
“And why is that?”
Jerry couldn’t say.
“I worry about you, too,” Red said.
“Why?!”
Red and Granny Hope both looked a little off put by that exclamation.  Jerry gritted his teeth and let himself drink a gulp of hot berry tea.  Mmmm.  This really did feel good.
Red took his hand, “When I was a little girl, my mom- didn’t come home,” Granny Hope looked away, “I was so scared and so upset,” she chuckled, “I tell everybody the reason I want to become a great sword fighter is to kill all the monsters in the Black Forest.  But really, sometimes I feel like if get to be good enough, maybe my swordsmanship can bring her back.”
“Red,” Granny Hope said, and Red put up a hand.
“I know, I know,” she said, “it doesn’t work that way.  But it feels that way.  It’s been so long, Jerry, and there’s not a single day that I don’t want her back,” she squeezed his hand, “you know, if you ever feel ready to talk about your Father, you can talk to me.”
Jerry was terribly moved by this.  How wonderful his friend was.  He loved her.  He wanted to tell her everything.  How could he?  He couldn’t even mention his Father’s death at the teeth of werewolves without having to talk about werewolves in general and-
“Do you hate werewolves, Red?”
“Of course,” Red said, “after what they did to your father, how could I not?  I’ll slay any werewolf I see on sight.”
“Well then,” Granny Hope said, “it’s a good thing you’ll never see one- you’re never going into the cursed Black Forest.”
“Of course, Grandma.  But if they came here-”
“That’s enough brave talk out of you.”
Jerry gulped down his tea.
The full moon came and Jerry did what he always did- herbing his Papa to sleep and locking himself in the closet.  But the next day there were scratches on the door and blood on the wood.
“Jerry, this has gone on long enough.  You have to stop it now.  You’re not a little boy, you’re a man.  No more closet sleeps,” Papa said, scrubbing the blood out of the floor, “don’t you realize this makes it harder?”
“I’m sorry,” Jerry choked.  He didn’t remember scratching at the door.
The next full moon, he tried sleeping in his room.  When he woke up the next day, the window was open, there was a dead, partially eaten chicken on the floor, and a gross feeling in his stomach.
He washed the blood out and got rid of all the evidence, but the chicken kept him rolling in his bed all month.  He had hurt a chicken.  He had hurt and killed a living thing with his jaws and he didn’t even remember it.
“Why won’t you talk to me, Jerry?” Papa asked, “I can’t help you if you won’t talk to me.”
“I’m fine, Papa, really.”
“Jerry, you smashed the fruit bowl when I asked you about school.”
Jerry had gotten a cut on his arm from crushing the bowl in his hands.  He tried not to touch it.
“I’ll save up money to get you a new one.”
“No- Jerr- that’s not-” Papa sighed, “please just tell me what’s wrong.  I’m scared.  I feel like I’ve lost you just like I’ve lost your Father.”
But it was impossible to Jerry to talk.
The next full moon, he broke his promise.

Obsessed with her tbh... the necklace... the tattoo.... the cunty pose.... the lil fucking bow on her head that doesn't really fit the aesthetic but DAMN she makes it work.... the gloves, the drink, the way she holds her drink with her pinky out all fancy AND her being covered in blood ties it all together. Peak character design. Peak woman, actually.

Alright, I've updated my Masterlist and formally updated my pinned post to remind everyone I won't be posting fics every other day. Next person who asks if I'm still writing is getting the steel chair (/lighthearted).
I also actually put the fandoms I do there, since I don't think anyone actually reads the request rules (I'm not stepping away from LL at all but sometimes a bitch needs some variety). I'll put them in this post too just to make sure everyone sees it:
Last Legacy (Fictif)
Isle of Enchantment (Fictif)
Monster Manor (Fictif)
Roadkill (Fictif)
Pokemon (PLA or anything else)
The Owl House
Most Disney stuff in general
Bullet Train (movie, haven't read the book yet)
Night of the Full Moon (game)
Evangelion (Original/EoE/Rebuilds)
Marble Hornets (original, not CL44)
And the occasional OC stuff
Anyways. That's it. Bye.

Guess what I had an idea for art but I'm posting it here instead of my artblog because this is just me crossposting my stuff to Tumblr. This is just generally for a weird fan comic idea I had but I'm probably gonna try and do something more with it, at least write a fanfic with it
Tumblr media
Basically my weird shower thought was 'what if instead of Red I just make the protag of Notfm my batsh*t crazy persona and let her run wild?' I'm making her Lady Knight because it's funny to think about but not really, she starts off with a knife not a sword.

The Weekender: Rise & Fall Edition
I’ve been cooling it on the Auto Chess testing lately because one of my personal favourite board games is getting its digital release next week, and I’ve been taking the Android version out for a spin.
Raiders of the North Sea is essentially a worker placement game, but it has a cool twist on the usual gameplay and has some pretty amazing artwork. Also: Vikings. The app seems very slick so far, so I’m looking forward to getting our full review out. I’m not sure we’ll make it in time for launch, but it’ll definitely be ASAP.
Meanwhile, in the world of mobile gaming…
Out Now
Civilization 6: Rise & Fall Expansion (iOS Universal) (PC Review)
We’ve been wondering when Aspyr would be getting around to porting the Civ 6 expansions to mobile. Rise & Fall released to the PC audience last February, so it’s been well over a year and we’ve had a second PC expansion (Gathering Storm) in the time since then. Rise & Fall isn’t the most impactful expansion, but it definitely elevates the base game out of the mundane and so in many ways is a bit of an essential purchase if you’re a Civ 6 fan. Along with new leaders and civs, new mechanics emerge in the form of Emergencies, Golden/Dark Ages and Governors. You can head on over to our sister website for a full overview of the expansion.
It’s a shame it’s so expensive ($29.99!), although as part of the release all of the existing IAPs have been made cheaper. You can now pick up the base game for $10, for example. Gathering Storm is supposedly on track for release alter this year as well, and together they make the base Civ 6 experience a better challenger against Civ 5’s comfortable domination of the franchise.

Stick Fight The Game Mobile (iOS & Android)
I mention this one because I’ve played the PC version and it is quite fun, if you’re looking for a cheap and cheerful party game. You control stick men on 2D battlefields and you have to jump around, try to pick up weapons and be the last stick standing. The physics are hilarious and the action surprisingly tense. It’s only for three players and one disadvantage of the mobile version is that you can only play online (versus all crowding around a single PC, for example), which is a shame.
The mobile version has gone free-to-play with a single $1 IAP for something called ‘Diamond’, but I imagine this is more of a token gesture to monetise the mobile game, rather than true ‘freemium’ design although you never know with NetEase involved.

Upcoming Games
Pokémon Masters (iOS & Android)
Pokémon GO’s time as the most popular Pokémon game on mobile might be coming to an end, as more games are about to land on our phones. Free-to-Play Pokémon Rumble Rush released this week, but you can also pre-register for Pokémon Masters, a 3v3 battler where three trainers each take a Pokémon each (known as a ‘sync pair’) into a head-to-head battle with another team. Pre-registration is available on both app stores, and there’s an overview video you can watch that goes over the basics:

Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes (August 1st, 2019) (iOS & Android)
This digital party game has been on our radar for a while, but we weren’t sure when the mobile version was planning to release – turns out it’s next week! This is a co-operation game where one person has ‘the bomb’, while everyone else has the manual that can disarm the bomb. The carrier will need to be able to describe what they can see, while the rest of the team will need to be able to succinctly advise the carrier how to disarm the bomb based on what they’re told. What could go wrong?
What’s good about this one is that only one person needs to ‘own’ the app as only the carrier will need, while everyone else can consult the bomb manual directly from the official website. It’s coming to both app stores and will cost $9.99.

Updates
Not many updates making a splash this week – Star Traders: Frontiers has been updated again, naturally, and the various Auto Chess games have all had extra tweaks and updates, depending on your poison.
In other news, Night of the Full Moon was updated to Version 2.0 this week. This is a larger update than most, and ]comes with it the inclusion of a new DLC – The Red Hood. NotFM is a pretty solid CCG/RPG hybrid which, while it didn’t blow us away when we first looked at it in 2017, has continued to go from strength to strength in the years since. It’s got plenty of DLC now to pick up if you’re interested, and the price for entry is currently ‘free’ on both iOS and Android.
Sales
In addition to the Civ 6 and Night of the Full Moon promotions mentioned above, there are a couple of sales that might be of interest this week:
Tides of Time (iOS | Android), which is a fun and quick 2 player card drafting game, is currently $0.99 – it’s first price-drop since launch.
Tactical RPG Avadon 3: The Warborn is down to half price again this week, only the second time this year.
Seen anything else you like? Played any of the above? Let us know in the comments!
