This is a rant and I apologize if I am coming off strong in the following unorganized mess...but I had to get this off my chest.

So I went onto the TVXQ hashtag on Twitter, as I sometimes do, to catch up on the most recent news about TVXQ/Tohoshinki and came across a little thread that got me…perturbed.

In the original post, some B*S fan was raving about B*S’ top sales numbers for their recent album in Japan, putting B*S in the number one spot on the “Top Selling Foreign Artist Album” list, and pushing Tohoshinki’s 2010 “Best Selection” album down a notch to number two. This fan is exclaiming that B*S has now beaten Tohoshinki, destroyed their records in Japan and are more popular than Tohoshinki in Japan and worldwide.

I do not have a Twitter because I do not like fandom drama…I never have. I don’t have any desire to be a part of it. BUT….BUT….I will want to say something if I feel like TVXQ/Tohoshinki are being disrespected and/or the wrong facts are being spread because I want to ensure the legacy of TVXQ/Tohoshinki remains in-tact. I have been a Cassiopeia/BigEast since TVXQ’s debut, I have gone through the highs and lows of fandom, I watched everything seemingly fall apart in 2009-2010….so I am not here to watch newer kpop fans bash all the groups that were successful prior to their knowledge of the industry.

ANYWAY.

So here I go, putting my two cents here…where no one will read it but WHAT-FUCKING-EVER…what do I have to lose?

Just a little background context on me so that you know why I feel I can speak about these things as honestly as I am right now: I have loved Japan and Japanese culture since I was a child. I have been surrounded by and involved in learning about the Japanese culture since I was younger than 8 years old. I have studied Japanese language for 10 years. I lived in Japan for 2 years. I still work directly with Japanese exchange students on a daily basis and have connections in the BigEast fanclub. Of course, I am not Japanese but I think I know enough to say what I feel about Tohoshinki’s popularity and influence in Japan.

1. Tohoshinki built themselves from the ground up in Japan starting in 2005. They learned Japanese fluently, practiced cultural sensitivity and embraced the fact that they would have to work hard to achieve success. So when you say that Tohoshinki are irrelevant and/or not worthy of the fame they have now, it is incredibly insulting.

2. TVXQ/Tohoshinki may not have expanded their popularity into the West, but they were the second successful kpop act (following BoA) to gain incredible success in Japan, which is the second largest music industry in the world. Just because B*S is famous in Western countries, it doesn’t mean they are the best kpop group out there, nor does it mean they are all that accepted by the general audience in Japan.

3. TVXQ have filled arenas and stadiums all over Japan and have sold more concert tickets than any other foreign artist. They sold out three days in Nissan Stadium (for multiple tours) in under 5 minutes. They’ve sold out tickets during every tour. SOLD OUT. This means they fill to capacity every theatre, concert hall, arena, and stadium every single year. Overall they have sold nearly 2.5 million tickets to their concerts and that number is just a low estimate. They are popular in Japan and believe me…I’ve been to two of their Japan concerts IN JAPAN….TOHOSHINKI ARE HUGELY POPULAR.

4. Again, I lived in Japan for two years and again, I went to two of their Japanese concerts. One in Tokyo and one in Nagoya. TOHOSHINKI ARE VERY VERY VERY POPULAR IN JAPAN. When their “With” tour came through Nagoya, their faces were fucking everywhere. Posters plastered in train stations, on buses and inside trains….their music blasted in the shopping malls and in the downtown district, their tour trucks roaming around the city getting people hyped with their latest single. All the CD and music stores put out Tohoshinki displays and fans were dressed in red all over the city. The concert itself was full of people of all ages, in front of me there was a line of high school girls and behind me were some old grannies and a few fanboys.

5. Just to fully get you to grasp how popular they are in Japan: Tohoshinki are respected as a jpop group…not just a kpop group that makes Japanese music. They are jpop. To have that consideration given to you in Japan is a FEAT! Tohoshinki is consistently rated as one of the BEST groups, alongside legendary jpop groups such as Arashi, EXILE and Kat-tun. Arashi members have specifically stated how much they “adore and respect” Tohoshinki and think that HoMin are two of the kindest, hardest working guys in the business. THAT KIND OF SHIT DOESN’T JUST HAPPEN Y’ALL.

6. At the Japan Gold Disc Awards, Tohoshinki has won 16 times for various different categories, including Best Asian Artist, Best Asian Album and Album of the Year. At the Billboard Japan Awards, Tohoshinki won Top Pop Artist in 2012 and was nominated in the same category in 2013.

7. I am not going to sit here and say that B*S isn’t popular at all in Japan or in the West, because OBVIOUSLY that isn’t true. But I do not believe they are popular in the same vein as Tohoshinki. Japan is riding this same wave of kpop interest that the West has been on. Anything that gets popular in America will usually become popular in Japan a little later (with some exceptions of course). The same kind of shit happened with Justin Bieber and Bruno Mars….they got famous in America and about half a year to a year later, they gained popularity in Japan.

8. I am also not going to sit here and say that B*S isn’t talented and doesn’t deserve the success. They are talented and I am happy they are expanding the reach of kpop internationally, especially in the West. This does not give their fans the right to bash the groups that laid down the foundation their biases are now walking on. BoA and TVXQ/Tohoshinki walked in Japan so that B*S could run. Same with how I feel all other kpop groups are going to now try and follow the path B*S has set for Western expansion.

Ultimately, the final word here is this: DON’T BASH ANOTHER GROUP, ESPECIALLY A SENIOR GROUP, TO MAKE YOUR GROUP LOOK OR SEEM SUPERIOR. Especially with false facts.

I am not sitting here bashing B*S to make TVXQ/Tohoshinki look better. I could, since I have had so many bad experiences with fans of this group…but I won’t because I am trying to be nice here.

Without Seo Taiji and the Boys, Shinhwa wouldn’t have existed. Without BoA, Chungha and Sunmi wouldn’t exist. Without Shinhwa, TVXQ wouldn’t have existed. Without TVXQ, B*S wouldn’t have existed. It’s just how the system works. Each have built off of the other. All are influenced by each other. Also, B*S has the luxury of having the world more open to them to expand than any of the groups in the 2nd Generation of kpop. Back when TVXQ debuted (2003-2004), expanding in the West wasn’t even considered an option.

TVXQ has worked too hard and too long for this kind of shit.

You do not have to like TVXQ because they are “old/irrelevant” to you or whatever, but dear good god, at least show a fucking sliver of respect.

My Review of Sarazanmai

How did I get into this anime? I heard “things” about this anime. 2019 was a weird time to be alive apparently. You know, before 2020 happened! As much shit as I give 2020, at least they didn’t give us kappas eating people’s asses.

Yes, I just said “kappas eating people’s asses”.

Be afraid. Be very afraid!

Kazuki Yasaka is a young boy who must carry around a box wherever he goes and follow specific directions day-by-day. Toi Kuji is a delinquent that breaks into cars and commits other crimes throughout the city. And Enta Jinnai is a childhood friend of Kazuki…He’s there too! These three boys have been chosen by the kappa prince, Keppi to help restore the Kappa Kingdom to its former glory. Kazuki, Toi, and Enta can now transform into kappas by being eaten ass first by Keppi and then shit out. Yes, I said eaten ass first and shit out by a kappa! These boys then must eat the inner-most desires of these kappa-zombies that are causing Keppi trouble. And these inner-most desires are located…in the ass. But there are those from the Otter Empire that cause this trouble for the kappas by turning folks into kappa zombies and causing havoc in the real world.

I would not expect any less of a mind-rape anime from the great Kunihiko Ikuhara.

BETWEEN THE SUB AND THE DUB: Even playing a kappa, Junichi Suwabe still finds a way to give me an erection.

Okay, let’s try that again and not make it sound disgusting, Medea.

Right! Let’s talk licensing. FUNimation is the licensors of this fine product. Seriously? Eating ass is fine, but you frown upon the likes of Interspecies Reviewers? Yes, there is a dub to this and believe it or not, I pretended it didn’t exist. Not because it was bad or anything! It’s just that this anime had the likes of Mamoru Miyano, Kouki Uchiyama, Rie Kugimiya, and Mr. Sex-in-a-Voice Junichi Suwabe. Let me state that my infatuation with Suwabe is like John Oliver’s infatuation with Adam Driver.

That…totally doesn’t help my case! Here’s what you might recognize these folks from.

JAPANESE CAST: *Kazuki is played by Ayumu Murase (known for Minami on Yuri on Ice, Luck on Black Clover, Asuto on Inazuma Eleven: Aries, Madoka on Shounen Maid, and Shinichi on SAO)

*Toi is played by Kouki Uchiyama (known for Yurio on Yuri on Ice, Soul on Soul Eater, Rui on Demon Slayer, Ikuya on Free!, Benedict on Violet Evergarden, Midnight on Fairy Tail, Yuu on Charlotte, and Ichijou on Nisekoi)

*Enta is played by Shun Horie (known for Kazuya on Rent-A-Girlfriend)

ENGLISH CAST: *Kazuki is played by Alejandro Saab (known for Leon on Pokemon Journeys, L’Arc on Shield Hero, Kuga on Food Wars, Yamazaki on Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card, and Takezou on Kono Oto Tomare)

*Toi is played by Ricco Fajardo (known for Koutaro on Zombieland Saga, Itona on Assassination Classroom, Karim on Fire Force, Natsuya on Free!, and Kyousuke on Danganronpa 3)

*Enta is played by Justin Briner (known for Deku on My Hero Academia, Yukito on Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card, Shou on Fire Force, Luck on Black Clover, and Ryouta on Danganronpa 3)

SHIPPING: Well…we got our BL kiss by the third episode. That’s quite early for an Ikuhara anime. Ooh boy, Enta loves him some Kazuki. He REALLY loves Kazuki! There’s a lot to be said of a boy that would sniff and fondle items owned by his lover and kiss his unconscious lover. I can understand why Enta would care for Kazuki. I mean after hearing that he’s truly his first friend after a childhood of traveling around and not making many friends, you want to feel for this kid. Key word here is “want”. But this boy goes too far sometimes and his jealousy does get the best of him to a point where I’m just saying, cut ties with the megane brat. But Enta ends up screwing things up again by taking a bullet for Kazuki and throwing all that anger out the window.

And then we have Reo and Mabu! God damn Reo! We’ve got shark teeth, an arrogant attitude, homosexuality, and the voice of Mamoru Miyano. This is just a Rin Matsuoka of a different color! If Reo and Mabu’s otter dance isn’t a dead giveaway, they totally love each other. To a point where they would sacrifice each other for the one they love.

POLE-DANCE ALERT: I don’t know why I always find random pole-dancing moments in animes so alluring. I guess I can blame the likes of Grell from Black Butler. But this moment was so random that it came right the fuck out of nowhere. Then again, this entire anime is an enigmatic brain-fart that it was only a matter of time before a kappa prince starts randomly dancing on a pole.

There we go, Medea’s love for random crap will never die!

ENDING: Throughout the series, Kazuki, Toi, and Enta were gathering these dishes in order to get a wish granted by Keppi. And each time they’ve gone up against a big bad otter, Reo and Mabu are usually the ones to bring out the kappa zombies. But everyone has a plan for using the dishes of hope for their own wishes. Enta wants to use it to stay with Kazuki so the two can remain the golden duo. Reo and Mabu want the dishes to be with each other and save one another after an incident nearly killed them. And Kazuki originally wanted to use the dishes for his baby brother’s own sake, but changes to wanting to help Toi (who ends up leaving with his older, criminal of a brother). And shit goes crazier than what I’ve just mentioned. Enta fucks up by stealing the collected dishes and really fucking up his relationship with Kazuki! Toi ends up leaving town with his criminal brother.

Reo and Mabu, the otter cops shoot Kazuki, but Enta takes the bullet and is hours away from dying. But then we learn that Reo and Mabu were actually kappas who worked under Keppi. It’s just that the otters have been manipulating these two. Mabu is just a hollow body created by the otters because of some accident that happened prior to the events in the anime. The otter gives Mabu a mechanical heart to keep him alive, but in order to stay alive, he cannot say he loves Reo. Unfortunately for these two, Mabu ends up saying he loves Reo and dies right in front of him and vanishing from his memories. Reo is then shot by Toi who comes in at the last minute.

Toi’s back. We all knew it wasn’t going to last. His older brother got shot dead the episode before. So Toi is going to use the dishes to resurrect his brother from the dead. This leaves Kazuki in shambles as he was going to use it on Enta before his body expires in like 10 seconds. In the last minute, Kazuki used the dishes on Enta and he’s going to live. End of story right? No, we still have a demented otter on the loose. And the otters have a dark Keppi that he’s been storing for just this sort of moment. And now it grabs Toi and Toi accepts. He wants to erase his existence from Enta and Kazuki’s lives. Problem is if he does that, Toi erases giving Kazuki the ankle bracelet that’s been a staple in Kazuki and Enta’s relationship when it comes to soccer. But the boys were able to connect, destroy the otters, bring the memories of Mabu and Reo back, turn Keppi into a kappa prince, and save the town from OTTER-destruction.

Yeah, if you watch this series, you’ll hear a lot of puns involving otters. I mean when you’re not smothered in sexualized otters and kappas.

The ending credits show Toi getting sent to juvie for three years. And it’s quite sad to see his dejected face while the ending song blasts. When the lyrics literally say “stand by me” it gets quite sad. Three years pass and Toi’s out of juvie. He goes to the bridge and jumps off. Keep in mind this is an Ikuhara anime, Toi’s not gonna die. Enta and Kazuki jump in and join Toi and welcome him back to society.

Good lord Ikuhara-san! I didn’t think you could out-gay an anime after the likes of Yuri Kuma Arashi. But good fuck, you found a way! This anime was…INSANITY. Pure insanity! Then again, this is the same director that did Revolutionary Girl Utena, Yuri Kuma Arashi, and Mawaru Penguindrum. Yes, connection and desires are a big take in not only Sarazanmai, but a lot of the other animes Ikuhara does. It’s just that Sarazanmai is the strangest acid-trip of them all. And that’s saying a lot because Yuri Kuma Arashi has sexy bears that say “Shaba-da-doo”. ALSO VOICED BY JUNICHI SUWABE! But people getting turned into kappas by being eaten ass first by another kappa and stealing spirits inner most desires, conveniently stored in their asses is some wonky-ass crack-fest. Recommendation wise, I would say watch some of the other animes Ikuhara has directed to get your feet wet in what you might expect in this kind of anime. After that, pop in a few Bakemonogatari episodes just for good measure. And after you do all that, take some CBD gummies and let-a-rip with Sarazanmai.

Humble Pie Concept: Hereau Timeline

Okay so its 4am when I came up with this concept it was too hot for me to sleep so forgive me, if it's sound too weird.

Okay, so what if Beau never met Beau (walk with me to this pier before you throw me off), but instead Beau met Hera...

Hera is character from my other blog , but she exists in Humble Pie, as a famous all star athlete. She's not only know for being a talented athlete but also a beautiful athlete as well. Beau knows of Hera and is a semi fan of hers, her poster was one of the only ones he didn't take down when he was redoing his room. Anyways, Hera is also known be to a very cool and spicy athlete often called the Mona Lisa of sports because she never smiles in pictures and she has a very cool girl, competitive and cocky persona in public. But in actuality, Hera is a nervous wreck whose real dream is to break from her cool girl persona and become a cutesy idol girl.

Where as Bonnie and Beau are interesting as couple for how different they are, Hera and Beau are interesting for how similar they are, both trying to break from personas, that they made for themselves out of protect and want to be a more honest verison of themselves, and I could see them help each other through it.

Beau and Hera's relationship is more mellow than Beau's and Bonnie's chaotic relationship, like for example, Bonnie won't really have the patience to go fishing with Beau--like just watching him fish, but Hera wouldn't be really mind it, she would actually find it really calming, and would enjoy watching Beau along with playing with the cats near by.

Beau is less snarky with Hera and more gentle because Hera can be really hard on herself when she makes the slightest mistakes, and tends to fall into stress loops.

While in Beau and Bonnie's relationship, Bonnie is the one usually to make Beau laugh and cheer him up, in Hera and Beau's relationship, Beau is the one to make Hera laugh and is more goofy with her. Mostly because Hera doesn't rub it in like Bonnie does, like when Beau acts goofy around Beau too much for too long , Bonnie is basically like "You like Krabby Patties don't you, Squidward?" If you know what mean, but Hera is more is more like "Thanks, I need that" and doesn't mention again in mocking or teasing way.

Beau and Hera also have a few more things in common, they both like sports (duh) and they both grew up with fathers who weren't the best dads outside of sports. Hera's father wasn't nearly as physically abusive as Beau's dad, he was more neglectful and ignored Hera anytime she wasn't talking about or practicing some type of sport, Hera's dad secretly wanted a son and kind of was depressed when he found out Hera was a girl, and ever since she could walk he always pushed her to more masculine interest than feminine, he would completely ignore her if she wanted to show her dad and new song and dance she made up in her favorite Ariel dress but she would have his undivided attention if she finally prefected her volleyball serve. Bonnie never knew her father because everytime she would ask her mom what he was like she would say "He was a useless p@#$ who couldn't handle my energy, so I got rid of him", Bonnie's mom would as end the conversation there never really elaborating any further.

How Beau and Hera meet is basically the same how Bonnie and Beau met, but with Hera the meeting has a more 90/80s sitcom feel like "All Star Athlete, Hera Grace? What are you doing here?" But less sitcom y because Hera as a nervous breakdown at the same time her car broke down. So, not only is Beau trying to help fix her car, but is also trying to comfort Hera, while at the same time trying figure out what is All Star Athlete, Hera Grace doing in his small town driving a beat up car.

At first, Hera tells Beau that's she just in town for vacation...

Beau: "So, out of all the places you could go as All Star Athlete, Hera Grace, you chose a small southern town?"

Hera: "I guess I just like the humble aesthetic... heh heh.."

Beau:" Okay.."

Beau (internally): Grandma was right, famous people are weird..

Beau and Hera continue to meet to work on Hera's car, and people don't recognize Hera because (a. Small town folk wouldn't really believe some one THAT famous would just plop into town (b. Using superman logic, Hera wears sunglasses so nobody can recognize her. So yes, Beau and Hera are sunglasses stunting couple 😎😎

Anyways, Beau and Hera start spending more time together and get closer, there is that scene where Hera walks in on Beau playing and being goofy with his siblings, but since Hera isnt as teasing as Bonnie, Beau doesn't feel as embarrassed about it.

There is a moment where Beau walks in on Hera doing a Disney number in one of her cute idol dress, she has another breakdown when she realizes Beau is watching, Beau comforts her again, and that's when Hera reveals that she actually made a deal with her father that if she can at least start her idol career in a year, then she could quit her athlete career and become an idol full time. The reason why she came to Beau's town because all the big city entertainment and music companies literally shut the door in Hera's face, Hera suspect that her dad was behind it and was purposely making harder for her since he wasn't going to help out at all with her idol career, which is why he gave her the best up car, there's a small but ambitious entertainment company in Beau's town looking to start an idol group and since it's not connected to a big company Hera felt like she actually had a chance. Hera begs Beau to keep this a secret and she isn't ready to go public with it.

Hera: "Please, keep this a secret, if-if anyone finds out, I'll--ill--"

Beau: "Hey! hey! It's okay, I know what it's like to keep a secret, but at least yours is actually really cute.."

Hera:" (Blush) heh...heh.. thank you, that really means alot to me, Beau"

While Bonnie's hyperfixation is mascots, Hera are idols, idol culture, Idol anime shows/games, and Disney. She often info dumps about Idol stuff while helping Beau work on the car.

Hera: "Oh! Oh, there's this another idol group I like called Arashi, they're were the first idol group I ever seen, and they have this one song that oozes sparkle energy, and they're still really cute and fun despite being kind of old for idols, and --oh, I'm sorry, rambling again.."

Beau: "No, no, it's fine, you smile for real when you talk about that stuff, I like it.."

Hera: "(blushes) UMMMM!..okay, so where was I-- oh, yeah.."

For money, Hera works at a cat cafe, she was gonna work at the same maid cafe Bonnie did but Hera was still shy about preforming in front others on the spot like that, so she picked the cat cafe that was two stores down, she also coaches softball at the local rec center.

Hera is no where near as flirtatious as Bonnie, since Hera spent most of her life practicing sports, and trying to literally win her dad's affection, she didn't really think about boys in a romantic sense, although she is comfortable around guys platonically, Beau was the first guy to treat Hera like a normal girl, not one of the guys or a sports goddess, just a normal girl, Hera is used to being call Beautiful or Sexy, but when Beau calls her Cute, she considers that flirting.

Since Hera is so used to holding masculine energy and qualities and being praised and recognized for it, it's nice to allow herself to be more feminine and being recognized and complimented for it.

While Beau is more sparing but loving with his kisses with Bonnie . With, Hera he uses his kisses to comfort her and/or to stop her from falling into stress/aniexty loop, usually holding her or hugging her or at least holding her hand and say "It's Okay", "I'm here", "Don't worry about it"

Okay, that's about all I have to say for this timeline/AU, I still love both Beaunnie and Hereau equally, I like Beaunnie for it's chaotic energy, I like Hereau for it's neutral good energy, I like both Bonnie and Hera, we can stan multiple queens in this household thank you very much...

Kissed one of your friends? She scratches at her cheek. ”Kind-of? Roger was a friend first. So that counts.”

Danced on a table in a bar / tavern? She shakes her head. “No..never have done that..”

Ever told a lie?

“Does lie by omission count? If those do, sometimes. Sometimes it’s better to just not mention something that would hurt or upset someone..right?”

Had feelings for someone you can’t have?

She shakes her head, then pauses. “Maybe a small crush here and there. But nothing that could be called love. At least..not romantic kind.”

Ever kissed someone of the same sex?

“Romantically? No. But if Roger was a girl, would still love the same. Who a person is..is the most important thing.”

Kissed a picture? She fidgets a bit. “Y-yes.”

Slept until 5pm? A look of shocked colored her features. “5pm?! How can one sleep THAT late. Oh no, usually come up with the sun unless it was a very, very late night.”

Worked at a fast food chain / restaurant “Oh yes. Had a part-time job at Stellazzio’s as a server and hostess. Sadly, the parlor moved owners..but still remember my time there fondly. Still cook and serve at the lodge sometimes. Thankfully, that tavern isn’t nearly as busy.”

Stolen something? “Well. Borrowed. There was a very interesting book at the Astrologicum. So..just borrowed it. Roger said those books weren’t to leave without special permission so Roger took it back.” she pouts. “Was going to put it back..”

Been fired from a job? She shakes her head. “No, not really. Guess the proper term would be laid off? Think some of the staff moved along with Stellazzio’s, but don’t think as many were needed.” she laughs. “Besides, with everything else, might be for the best.”

Done something you regret? She lowers her eyes. “Yes..many things.”

Laughed until something you were drinking came out of your nose? She covers her nose with her hand. “That sounds painful! No..never.”

Caught a snowflake on your tongue? “Oh yes! Snow is such a rare thing, whenever it does happen..it’s a must to make time with Roger to play in it. Build snowmiqo’tes, try to catch snowflakes, make aurangels. That kind of thing.”

Sat on a roof top? “On a chocobo stables roof! Sometimes would sit with Roger and talk for many bells.”

Kissed someone you shouldn’t have? She lets out a nervous laugh. “Maybe Roger? At the time..don’t think it was what Roger needed.” she waves her hand. “But that was many, many years ago.”

Sang in the shower?

“Oh yes! All the time. It makes for good practice.”

Been told that you’re beautiful by someone who totally meant what they said? "Think so..at least feel like it wasn’t meant. Roger was one of those people. Even when don’t feel so beautiful, Roger says very beautiful.” she thinks a long moment. “But that is a question for others. Can’t really prove that it was meant or not.”

"....what is the definition of stalked..?” (She 1000% followed Roger around alot..in her early days)

Thought about murder? “N-no. That would be..very, very wrong.”

“T-that’s even worse than ONE murder. No!”

Gotten so angry that you cried? She looks mildly annoyed. “Sayo has a good record of pushing the right buttons. And yes..to a point of crying.”

Tried to stay away from someone for their own good? “Yes..long, long time ago..Roger was very conflicted about Roger’s heart desire. So tried to stay away, to make things easier..but..” she lets out another nervous laugh. “That didn’t work out.”

Thoughts about suicide? She shakes her head no. “There are too many people that would be sad. Sisters, Arashi, Roger. Don’t think could put everyone through that, even at the lowest of lows.”

Had a girlfriend / boyfriend? “Yes! Hopefully husband someday. Roger asked to bond two Starlights ago, but..things just have kept coming up and up. Arashi is home now! So maybe..soon?”

Gotten totally drunk during a holiday? “Yes..not last Starlight, but the one before. There was a small party at the lodge, for friends, family, that sort of thing. Did the lodge’s drinking game “The Summoning” and many got..very drunk.” she plants a hand on her chest. “Very much included in that.”

New OC time!!

Meet Arashi Mitsuha. His quirk is that he can control the weather around him, he can summon thunder and lightning, turnados, tsunami’s basically any type of weather he’s your guy.

Appearance: He has Howl’s hair from Howl’s Moving Castle when it goes black and stormy blue eyes that Denki is constantly getting lost in. He also has double earrings two studs in his ears one of them Denki buys for him it’s a pair of thunderbolts.

A: What are/were this character’s best subjects in school? Arashi loves science!! He absolutely loves to learn about how weather patterns work funnily enough since that is his quirk. It’s one his main special interests and he loves to learn about how the weather works.

B: Do they have any allergies? He isn’t allergic to anything actually but he isn’t the best at dealing with other people and tries his best to get through the day.

C: Can they swim well? Shi loves to swim!! It’s one of his favorite things to do, he’s actually really great at it.

D: How do they react to being flirted with? He is not good when it comes to being flirted with (which ends up very bad for him when he meets Denki because let’s be honest here there isn’t a more flirty boi in class 1-A). He blushes just about every time Denki so much as winks at him let alone if he actually flirts with him he’ll be praying for a quick and painless death.

E: How are they with children? He has a younger sister that he loves more than anything at all and she is the light of his world. At least before Kaminari comes into his world with memes and jokes and a flirty wink.

F: What’s one thing they’re really bad at? He is really bad with names, he can’t remember names to save his life so most of the time he’ll wind up repeating their names until he becomes more comfortable around them to remember their names.

G: How do they flirt? When Arashi does flirt it’s usually in the honest way, he’ll tell Denki that loves the look in his eyes when he’s really passionate about something (it never fails to make Kaminari’s day though when he does flirt.)

H: What is their deadly sin? His deadly sin is probably gluttony, he has a second stomach for sweets and desserts and Denki loves to tease him about it (Isn’t that your second helping of strawberry cake? Shuddup this is rewelly good he says with his mouthful.)

I: On a scale of 1 to 10, how much do they love themselves? On a scale of one to ten he loves himself at a solid seven. He’s a little bit lonely but he knows that he is happy with the way that his life is. Or at least he thought that he was until our favorite electric boy came into his life.

J: What’s their sense of humour like? His sense of humor is something that Denki loves, it’s a lot of word humor and verbal jokes. He loves to laugh at pretty much everything that his boyfriend does and sometimes it has resulted in him being stunned stupid more often than not.

K: How do you know when you’ve upset them? He will probably yell at you which is rare but he has the temper of a thousand thunderbolts. He gets easily peeved when you insult one of his friends or his boyfriend for that matter.

L: What is their favourite board game? He loves puzzles if those count as board games and frames his favorite ones in his dorm room after glueing all the pieces together.

M: What is their favourite dessert? He is obsessed with cheesecake of all kinds though his favorite is lemon with blueberry syrup on top.

N: What do they usually eat for breakfast? His go to breakfast is usually just a piece of fruit since he isn’t very hungry in the morning.

O: What would it take to break them, inside and out? For Denki to leave him for another person (he hates watching him flirt with other people it makes him want to puke and it’s a long standing argument between the two of them at first. It takes Kaminari a little while to learn to rain it in and save the flirting for his boyfriend.)

P: How do they handle money? He is very professional when it comes to money (until he sees a cute weather themed thing, stuffed animal or astronomy thing for his dorm room)

Q: Are they patient? I think that when your boyfriend is Denki Kaminari you are going to need to be a very patient person to put up with all the jokes and memes.

R: What are their hands like? His hands have little scraps and calluses on them from using his quirk too much growing up

S: How stealthy are they? He tries to be stealthy but in reality he sucks at it. He also can’t keep a secret to save his entire life

T: Where are they ticklish? He is ticklish literally everywhere and Denki loves to get into tickle fights with him

U: What’s their voice like? He has a naturally soft voice until you get him passionate about something “Hey Amasawa, what’s the weather like today? Well if you really want to know it’s sunny with a chance of clouds but it shouldn’t turn into anything too bad and you just wanted to hear me ramble again didn’t you Kaminari? What can I say it’s cute!!” (This is before they started dating he would mutter into his pillow about how he called him cute for the rest of the day.

V: What’s the easiest way to annoy them? The easiest way to annoy him is to sneak into their room and use their computer without asking, his sister does it all the time.

W: Can they dance? He can dance actually and it’s something that he loves doing!! He’s always loved the feeling that he gets with a pair of tap shoes on.

X: What’s their most petty little secret? His most petty little secret is that he has a collection of Kaminari’s hoodies because they smell like him and during the longer nights when he can’t sleep and his boyfriend can’t be there he’ll pull one of them on and just breathe in deep.

Y: What is one question they’ve always wanted an answer to? The one question that he has always wanted the answer to is why his dad left him when he told him about his sexuality. He had always known that he was gay from a young age but didn’t truly start to crush until his first boyfriend before Kaminari who didn’t treat him right and made him really self conscious of his hobbies.

Z: How do they sleep? Arashi has a hard time sleeping if he isn’t wrapped up protectively in Kaminari’s arms with his own personal heater. Without him he’s really cold and he can’t get a full night's rest if he isn’t warm enough. Eventually Denki buys him a weighted blanket with clouds on it and it makes the nights where he isn’t there a lot easier.

1. Do they sleep with a stuffed animal? He has a bunch of weather related stuffed animals (A puffy big white cloud that he also uses as a pillow, a shooting star with a rainbow, a shining sun and a snowflake that he loves.)

2. Can they take care of a plant? What about a pet? What about a child? He has a cat named thunder and a dog named lighting back at home and thunder comes with him to the dorms since Vlad let’s him come.

3. Ask them to describe their love interest. Shi would describe Denki as his beam of sunlight constantly shining down on him. He’s the optimist that he never knew that he needed until he literally came crashing into his life. He loves his bright and sunny personality. It doesn’t mean that he can’t fall or that he doesn’t have anxiety and he’s had to learn how to make studying more interesting so that he can pass his classes. They bonded over a shared love of music together and he learned that he doesn’t have to be shy with the things that he loves. He would also describe Kaminari as underrated. He’s not just a flirt or a perv but a person with a really big heart who would do anything for the person that he loves. Most of the time he lovingly describes Denki as a golden retriever puppy much like lightning that he misses back at home.

4. Do they look good in red? He actually loves the color red, his favorite sneakers are that color and he has to wear red reading glasses (he has to wear them anyways but he wears contacts most of the time. Denki always loves when he wears his glasses because he thinks that they look adorable on him and that he should wear them more often.)

5. Speech! Speech! Speech! Speech! It would be a late night one where Denki had a really bad day in class when Jiro had accidentally gone too far with a joke telling him that he was so lame that Ari would eventually learn that he was way above his pay grade date wise and that he deserved better. Ari would put his arms around him and be the big spoon for once because he knew it was exactly what his boyfriend needed. He would tell him how much he loved him for the first time that night, that he was the light of his life and that he wouldn’t be nearly as happy without him in his life.

6. Who will they take advice from, no matter what it is? Who won’t they take advice from, no matter what it is? Arashi would always take advice from his mother and his younger sister (who while she might be six is wiser than most would expect her to be. Her quirk is that she has the ability to give the perfect puppy dog eyes that her brother is weak towards, she’s actually quirkless but she jokes that it’s her special quirk that nobody has ever heard of before.) His mom gives the best advice in the entire world and she always knows just what to say to make him feel a lot better. He would never take advice from his homophobic father who left when he came out to him when he was 10.

7. Describe them in three words. Now let them describe themselves in three words. I would describe Arashi as relentlessly kind, quirky and just an all around incredible boyfriend. He would describe himself as an overly romantic nerd, somebody who can tell you the type of weather to expect everyday by smelling the sky but who still watches the weather and somebody who loves to laugh.

8. Do complex puzzles intrigue or frustrate them? He absolutely loves puzzles!! To him the perfect day is cuddling with Denki, watching movies or playing video games, working on a puzzle and sharing earbuds with his boyfriend.

9. Do they empathize with non-sentient things (dolls, plants, books…)? Ari has a special attachment to his shooting star stuffed animal because it was something that his grandma gave to him when he left for the dorms and he loves it more than anything.

10. What age do they most want to be right now? He wants to stay the age that he is in the prime and happiness of his youth, spending time finally enjoying his teenage years with his starlight.

11. They’ve won the lottery. Spend, or save? Spend it on a new and bigger television so that him and Denki can snuggle in front of a bigger screen.

12. Do they like romance in the books they read (or in the book they’re in)? He is the first to admit that he loves Fruits Basket like a lot. It's his favorite manga that he collected all of the collectors volumes and the one good thing to come out of his last relationship that ended with a lot of emotional abuse ironically. He had wanted a boy like Kakeru when he had read the manga and little did he know that his ball of chaos and energy was out there waiting for him.

13. Name one thing their parents taught them. His mom taught him about the idea of soulmates which she eventually found in his stepdad whom he adores. His stepdad taught him that it was okay to be who you are and that having passions is okay as well.

14. Would they agree with the term ‘guilty pleasure’? He could watch the same weather report over and over until he’s tired of it. He loves learning about the weather and the way that the stars work and the way that everything comes into place in the universe.

15. What would they consider a waste of time– other than school or work? Arashi has a problem with turning his brain off so that he can relax. Denki loves to calm him down with warm cuddles and a soft voice to get him relaxed. Also making him laugh is a surefire way to get him all chilled out and putty in his hands.

16. If money wasn’t a limit, what would they wear? He would probably wear the same thing that he always does, he has a soft spot for jeggings and quirky shirts but Denki made him this leather jacket that says I’m your weatherman that he loves. It’s black and has a cartoon sun with a raincloud, a rainbow to celebrate his pride as gay and a snowflake to show that he’s different

17. Do they like children? He loves children!! He always is willing to babysit his baby sister whenever his mom needs him to so that she can go out for date night with his stepdad.

18. Kissing: tongue or no tongue? He actually has learned to love all types of kissing!! Before Denki he hated kissing his ex-boyfriend because it just never felt right. When Denki first kissed him he could feel literal zings of electricity that he at first thought was because of his quirk but after talking with Mitsuki he learned that everyone just felt that way when they were with a person that they loved.

19. Do they study before tests? Practice before job interviews? She always has this need to study for tests even though everyone around her encourages that she’ll ace it with flying colors because she is just naturally highly intelligent.

20. What do they like that nobody else does? Nobody listens to the weather report, at least not unless they have anything else to do that day like a trip to an amusement park or a date day and the forecast has been all over the place all week.

21. What would it take for them to break up with someone? What would be the last straw? Once they got over their anxieties and confessed their love to each other about six months into their relationship nothing can tear them apart.

22. Do they like being called pet names? Do they call other people pet names? What’s their go-to? Oh god these two are literally the pet name couple. Denki: Babe, baby, sweetheart (that’s Ari’s Favorite and he uses it all the time), sunshine which is Denki’s favorite, darling and sugar. Arashi: Starshine is his favorite but also uses hun, love, goofball in the loving way, he’ll call him his prince if he’s feeling like teasing him just a little bit.

23. Stability or novelty? Stability all the way.

24. Safety or possibility? Safety, he’s always been apprehensive of the unknown and it gives him lots of anxiety. With Denki around it gets a lot better and he’s a lot more open to the idea of possibility and going with the flow.

25. Talent or effort? Effort all the way. He has always been the one to try their hardest at everything that they did and even if it meant that he exhausted himself he still loved trying his best.

26. Forgiveness or vengeance (or…)? Forgiveness.

27. Would they date a fixer-upper? He would date a fixer upper!! His favorite movie growing up was Beauty And The Beast and that movie is perfect for showing that love is about what you see on the person inside rather than looking at their physical features.

The Marshall’s

The Marshall’s are quite a complicated family. Riddled with issues, they’re typically too much for most people to handle. When Chloe Marshall was still young, she gave birth to the first of the nine siblings known as Grayson. Born to an abusive and alcoholic father, his parents only remained together for a year before he ran off, fled the state completely in order to avoid paying child support or having anything else to do with his son. It wasn’t long after that that his mother began to drown herself in vodka. Grayson doesn’t remember much of that time, just knows that he typically ended up in the care of the elderly woman a few houses down at night, when his mother was too drunk to tend to him and was found passed out in the house.

When he was two, his mother ran off for several weeks, no one knows where she went and it had seemed like she too had abandoned the toddler at the neighbors home. Just when social services were about to get involved, she reappears, fresh and clean, swearing she was done with drinking. It didn’t last and it was found out that shortly after she had left, she became pregnant once more. Chloe managed to stay sober for most of the time, even got herself a job and things had seemed to be looking up. Then when little Savannah was born, she spiraled once more. She went on a bender, drank herself into the hospital as the elderly neighbor now watching both of the children.

Slowly but surely, she created a pattern. Always claiming to get clean only to fall off the wagon once more after each kid was born. Again and again, she let her kids down until there was barely anything but a shell of the woman she once was remaining. Most of the kids don’t even know who their father is, some have an idea but their mother is never willing to confirm nor deny it. Over the years, the Marshall kids have endured quite a lot. The elderly woman who looked after them passed away, the only person outside of themselves that treated them like family. Countless boyfriends came and went of their mothers, some bad, some good, some even worse.

Endlessly bullied as they grew up, though Savannah was one that got it nearly the worst. Because of how her mother is, she’s gained a reputation herself without ever having done anything to earn it. Claims of anything and everything from her being a slut, riddled with diseases to even as fertile and cursed as their mother. Nobody wants to touch a member of the Marshall family line. Not unless they wanted to take on all the baggage that comes with it.

As the years have passed, their mother is barely in the picture. Usually, she’s only home when she’s blackout drunk, sleeps off the hangover then heads right back out to start all over again. It’s mostly Savannah, Micah, and Grayson who take care of the rest. The siblings are a rough and tough family who look out for each other and will do anything to keep each other safe. Their methods may not be the best or the most morally aligned but they do what they must to survive.

Some call her a stone-cold bitch, untrusting of anyone outside her family and certainly doesn’t trust anyone with her siblings. While she’s harsh, cold, and distant to others, she’s loving and warm to her family. They may be her siblings but they’re more like her kids. Even though rumor has it that little Zachary is actually hers, he’s not. She’s the first one that doesn’t know who her father is, only that she’s half Asian but no idea beyond that.

Now he’s out of work, no one wants to hire a DJ that doesn’t have his own equipment but he tries to make up for it by pitching in around the house and stealing what he can to either sell or provide for the others.

Chloe essentially cursed her fourth born to forever carry the story of his birth by giving him such a name and when even one of the nurses at the hospital tried to convince her otherwise, she refused. Christian is another that’s bullied quite a lot. He’s quiet and introverted, hates having the attention on him and though he’s not very good at it, he tries his best to help out where he can around the house.

Bio: Zachary is the baby of the bunch, at only 18 months he has no idea of how their life is and since he was practically raised since birth by Savannah, he calls her Mommy instead of their actual mother. She doesn’t mind, and she doesn’t try to stop the rumors that she was the one who actually had Zac instead of her mother. She loves them all like they were her kids anyway. She just tries to make the best of their situation that she can.

Another 7SEEDS rant

All my hopes and expectations...

A first-impressions rant, after watching the first 3 or so chapters. This does not bode well.

Well. The pacing is officially terrible. I could have understood them cutting some things out, but I was 100% done by the time Botan just jumped into the water, SHANKED the crocodiles like they were nothing more than basic bitches, and... that was it? No getting bitten, no Mozu saving her by pelting the crocs with fruit? And then, instead of climbing to the top of the island and realizing there was NOTHING around them, thus nearly falling into despair (which explained them thinking Natsu had gone crazy when she jumped into the water), they jump straight to them realizing "oh hey, this isn't saltwater, so it must be a lake!". It's awfully rushed, and just... no.

Also, the scenes with the wild rabbits were almost hilariously sudden, like, suddenly they were talking, and then, WILD EVIL RABBITS, SHANK 'EM. No emotional build-up for the little one Mozu kills, either -- just suddenly a rabbit appearing out of nowhere. And since they couldn't bother to mention or animate the rabbits cannibalizing each other, we get no trace of Mozu's awesomely dark lines, where he implies humans will also turn to cannibalism if they have nothing else to eat but each other.

Regarding Natsu, there were changes that just seemed... pointless. Like Arashi yelling instead of her, wtf? That was supposed to be her first, awkward fumbling step towards gaining some confidence! Then, at the scene where they're supposed to be looking for food, they SHOW one of the strips she's using to avoid losing her way, but don't show her reflecting about it, actually THINKING FOR HERSELF, or examining her belongings, finding the book, and using it to pick mushrooms that look edible. Instead, it's Arashi using the book (WHY!?), and generally making it seem like Natsu found a single random mushroom-looking thing, which then turned out to be poisonous. Also, is it just me, or is her crush on Arashi a lot more sudden here!? It almost gives me the impression that she's creeping on him, especially when she ran after him after hearing Botan's story. It's kind of lame that she seems more worried about him than about never seeing her family (or even her cat) again. Why not have her mention her realization about her last meal being a farewell?

And don't get me started on Team Spring! At least Summer B's characters had a little more personality, but Spring's have been totally pushed to the side. Goodbye to Fujiko's cleverness and Chisa's gentle firmness. It's strange, because I feel it wouldn't have taken much to, say, have a scene with Haru refusing to do manual labor (and coming across as a jerk), only for him to later reveal he was a pianist; which, of course, would have given the reveal a lot more weight.

To be fair, I've gotta add that I liked the scene with Yanagi's death, with the bugs ripping out of his face. Delightfully disturbing, just as it was supposed to be. Other than that, however, the escalation of conflict between Hana and Yanagi felt too forced and rushed. The animation of her face when she was worrying about having killed him looked too dumb to be taken seriously. The rape attempt was too sudden and then seemingly sweeped under the rug.

Finally, I didn't like Team Summer A's introductory scene. Like another user mentioned, without all the background context, that scene is just... pointless. The characters' expressions are a far cry from the original, where they legitimately looked like they were on the brink of madness. Ango's eyes aren't even "glazed over", though, after looking at Hana's dumb "trauma" face, perhaps he was better off that way.

I understand they were limited, but if that was the case, maybe they shouldn't have tried to bite more that they could chew. This could have been so much better (as it does have a few good scenes) if it had actually followed the pace of the manga. As it is, the random back and forth just sucks the tension out of the scenes.

This is... disappointing :( I'm not even looking forward to watching the rest of it. ... I'm gonna go re-read the manga. *Snif*

(Probably more to follow by the time I have time to reflect more on the subject. Not sure if I will keep watching, though, especially after reading some comments here. Only 16 minutes to cover the Winter Arc, seriously!?!)

To start with, if you're writing fic for me, I love you. I'm going to be happy just to be able to share my fandom love with someone. You'll notice I throw a lot of ideas out-- feel free to take one, take many, take none. I know how hard it can be to settle on an idea once the assignments come in. So I'm offering a bunch of options that I will enjoy. None of these suggestions are hard and fast requirements. They're here to give you an idea of what's going on in my head and what my preferences look like. My current blog is ryuutchi, over on Tumblr. I like: Plot, adventures, banter and dry humor, happy endings, over the top AUs (steampunk, noir, organized crime, rum-runners, harems...), casual physical intimacy, emotional interdependency, bad decisions and poor coping mechanisms, hurt/comfort and whump-with-comfort, loyalty and morality confusion, worldbuilding, identity porn, questionable healthy attachments, seeking out physical affection, accidentally caught feelings, power-play, porn, gen, slash, femslash, het, any rating you feel comfortable with (for violence and/or sex), bittersweet things that are heavy on the sweet, Happily Ever After/Happily For Now endings I don't like: Deathfic, gratuitous angst, character-bashing, introspective character pieces, five times fics, mommy/daddy kink, A/B/O universes, contemporary social issues as the main focus/issuefic, sad or hopeless endings. (Also the standard DNWs: scat, watersports, necro, mpreg, homophobia, transphobia, etc) No Game No Life - Kamiya Yuu: Sora, Shiro The Series: They are both NEETs and Hikikomoris… but on the internet, the genius gamer siblings Sora and Shiro are known as the undefeatable “__” (blank). Sora and Shiro’s talents and skills are so abnormally good they are considered as urban legend. One day, they are challenged by the god of games to chess and are victorious. As a result, the god summons them to Disboard, a reality which revolves around games. Intent on maintaining their reputation as the undefeated gamers, Sora and Shiro plan to conquer the sixteen ruling species and to usurp the god of games... NGNL is a series of light novels, of which 6 have been translated (PDFs can be found here, or bought legally at any online bookstore). The No Game No Life anime can be found on Crunchyroll here. Request: The fact that Shiro and Sora literally cannot be separated from each other is one of the dynamics that I like about the series. I really enjoy codependent siblings as a Thing. So I would be happy if you played with that dynamic. Plotty gen for this series would be great-- it's always fun when one of them is much better than the other or they have to separate and execute plans while relying solely on the intuition of what their sibling will do. Alternately, someone kidnapping Sora and Shiro having to play a game to get him back while they both battle their inability to get anything done alone... I'd love background on them, where they tried to separate or were forced to separate and failed to function, or where one or the other tried to interact with other people (maybe a gamer who tracked them down) but were either terrible at it, the other one quietly sabotaged the budding relationship, or the third person got way too freaked out by the way Sora and Shiro act around each other. Future fic would also be great-- King/Queen Blank or even the Gods Blank, after they've beaten Tet. What does that look like? What kind of world are they making for themselves and each other? I ship them, but do not expect other people to, so if you want to write shippy fic (with aged up Shiro!!!) for them, I will be surprised but happy. I will happily admit to wanting kinky sex games. Extra Details: For reference, I've read through volume 8 of the light novel, watched the anime and the movie. I am not precious about spoilers for this series, so feel free to use later information. I know this series isn't everyone's cup of tea, with the sheer amount of fanservice and Sora's utterly otaku personality and the pseudo-incest thing with the 12 year old. Personally, as is probably obvious from the request, I'm less interested in the fanservicey characters, and much more about the dynamics of Shiro and Sora's relationship. I love the way they know exactly what the other is capable of and trust each other completely and whole-heartedly. Whether you write something small and domestic or big and plotty, for me the core of NGNL is that they love, care and respect each other in a way that is beautiful but also extremely unhealthy. If you want to go the shippy route, again, Shiro needs to be aged up appropriately-- it's always been interesting to me that Sora understands that it is inappropriate to sexualize his underage adopted sister, while Shiro goes out of her way to help sexualize other women for Sora's entertainment. There's a part of me that wonders if she's planning ahead for when she is old enough to be an "appropriate" (in age, if nothing else) sexual partner and is trying to get Sora to lose his virginity ahead of time. selector infected WIXOSS: Aoi Akira, Igarashi Rumi | UlithThe Series: WIXOSS is a popular trading card game in which players battle against each other with fighters known as LRIGs, using cards to support them. Certain LRIGs are able to communicate with their owners, and the girls chosen to wield them are known as "Selectors". Selectors are given the chance to have any wish granted by winning battles against other Selectors, but should they lose three times, their wish will be reversed into a curse instead. The main series, selector infected WIXOSS, follows a girl named Ruko Kominato, who becomes a Selector after receiving an LRIG that she names Tama. As she and various other Selectors battle it out for the sake of their wish, Ruko finds herself drawn into the dark, sinister world of WIXOSS, discovering that, win or lose, there is always a price to pay. The anime can be found on Funimation here Request: So, you know how in my "general likes" I said I don't like "gratuitous angst"? In this fandom, there is no such thing as "gratuitous". Darkfic is absolutely welcome here. The thing I am most interested in here is the manipulative, awful relationship that Akira has with Ulith-as-Iona. Like, I love them all, and for some reason in this fandom, that comes out to "please break them". Exploring their adult lives and how their relationships and the Wixoss game affected them in the future would be amazing. What else happened to them? What are their careers like? What are their home lives like? Are they... living together? Does some sort of magic continue to be a theme in their lives? Feel free to write in-universe plot or no-powers universe, or some horrible Madoka or Yurikuma Arashi or other magical girl thing, where they can all be horribly manipulative lesbians together because that's magical and wonderful. OTOH, if you want to write codependent-but-vaguely-functional adult Akira and Iona/Ulith being horrible assholes and having adventures of some sort (magic, detectives, idk) that is ALSO A+. I mean, I like happy endings, and if you can come up with something heartwarming (or "heartwarming") I'm not going to complain. Extra Details: Evil lesbians are Problematic, I know. But Akira was one of my favorite characters from the word go and (if you're paying attention to my fandoms as a whole) I really really like codependent or unhealthy relationships. I love her love/hate relationship with Iona and with Ulith, and the way those two characters sort of get mixed up for Akira specifically. If you want to play with Iona and Ulith's personalities and interactions as well, that would also be pretty fun. I'm also down for other types of AUs, like they have to get their shit together and track down someone who is killing Selectors, or they become selectors as adults and not girls. I know they're young, but given that this is a super-fucking dark canon, I am totally cool with dubiously consensual sex either on or off-screen. FANDOM: Yoroiden Samurai Troopers | Ronin Warriors (Shuu Rei Fuan | Kento Rei Fang, Mouri Shin | Cye Mouri) The Series: Ronin Warriors, known in Japan as Yoroiden Samurai Troopers (lit. "Legendary Armor Samurai Troopers"), is a Japanese anime series and manga adaptation created by Hajime Yatate. It's the story of five teenage boys, given mystical armor to protect the world from the evil Arago. 1000 years ago, Arago nearly succeeded in taking over the human world when Kaosu managed to defeat him. Although Arago's soul is banished to the demon world, his armor is left intact. Kaosu divided the armor into nine separate armor suits. Each armor will choose its bearer, and together they will fight Arago. At least that was the original intent... Although Arago manages to corrupt four sets of the armor, the last five remain safe. It's a bit like Power Rangers, only grounded in more serious traditional Japanese cultural trappings. Being created in the 80s, the art style is a little wonky, but it's an enjoyable thriller and is somewhat more focused and serious than a lot of sentai shows. The anime can be found on Crunchyroll here Request: I love Shuu/Shin with Shin being snarktastic and Shuu being smug and solid and dependable. I used to frequent the Minkland archive back when this fandom still kinda existed, and was forever disappointed that the skinny pretty boys got tons and tons of fic and Shuu was just sort of there in the background. (If you used to read Mink and Jink's fic, I will be so happy I could cry if I got that sort of cracked-out porny fic with Shuu, okay. Due to that formative influence, if you want to GO FOR THE AU, GO FOR IT WITH GUSTO. I've always wanted nanshoku/samurai AU. Or, you know, hooker fic, or dark!troopers fic, or harem fic or something like that. I also like found-family fic, gen-ish mysteries and adventures-- more fighting Massive Cosmic Evil, and curtainfic. Futurefic is also awesome, where they get on with their lives, maybe together or maybe trying to keep their friendships intact when there's no massive Cosmic Evil to keep them close. Extra Details: If you used to read Mink and Jink's fic, I will be so happy I could cry if I got that sort of cracked-out porny, possibly AU fic with Shuu, okay Fics I especially enjoyed from that archive: The Grand One The Clit Club Chronicles The Harem Vinyl Wagashi Cherry Zima Threesome Theater of Magic Due to that formative influence, if you want to GO FOR THE AU, GO FOR IT WITH GUSTO. But I multiship and am willing to run with anything-- I'm a Sex With All Teammates sort of person, so fivesomes and alternate pairings are not a problem for me. Dragon Prince Trilogy - Melanie Rawn: Ianthe of Princemarch, Sioned of River Run The Series: To blatantly steal someone else's review on Amazon: "Melanie Rawn created a world and a people that gives everything you could possibly want in a fantasy world. It gives love, hate, peace, war, magic, royalty, commoners, children to take over the next generation and best of all; dragons." I want to say "if this wasn't the matched fandom you should go out and read them right the fuck now', because I have read these books So Many Times. They're high fantasy novels about politics and the prince of a desert and magical people who communicate via sunlight and can conjure fire. AND DRAGONS. Also a lot of interpersonal and romantic maneuverings. It's a high fantasy politics and romance romp of somewhere ~550 pages. If that sounds interesting to you, pretty much every used bookstore I have ever been to has at least one copy of these books. I think they spawn on bookshelves or something. The books are also available in ebook form here (Kindle) and here (Nook) for 3 bucks. Please read them. (TW for rape in the first book) The Request: I love everything this series chooses to be. It's fun and cheesy and fantasy, which the best thing in the world. I've always thought that Ianthe had a serious hate-crush on Sioned and part of the reason she was so vicious and fucked up was that whole "you must marry a guy and expand the empire or your useless" thing when maybe she didn't want to do that. Ianthe's always been one of my favorite characters because she's brilliant and ruthless and clearly takes joy in clever plans that go well. Of course, being the villain in a cheesy fantasy, she got no depth whatsoever, aside from that whole sexually liberated, taking male consorts thing (which is AWESOME, okay.) Sioned is also awesome and brilliant and kick ass. Her hesitance in the first book while she decided what she really wanted to do was pretty great, as was the fact that she promptly made friends with Tobin and pretty much every character not designated "villain". It seems like up through Ianthe's death, they're playing a game of brinkmanship. (Which isn't to say I don't like Sioned and Rohan together. They're bookTP and totally awesome.) As for prompts, I normally prefer plotty fic to introspection. I feel like the whole sunrunner thing lends itself well to espionage, so political thriller, or murder mysteries or something would be great. If you want to do plot-what-plot involving these two-- either sex or just the sort of dancing around/pigtail pulling that would be great. Threesomes with Rohan-- also acceptable! Hell, if you want to do an AU where they end up together instead of Sioned marrying Rohan-- or alternately, an AU end to the trilogy, where Ianthe never died in the fire and ends up taking over as High Princess and making the Desert monarchs' lives hell and discovering her powers. Or something where she knew about her powers all along. Or Sioned, I don't know, realizing she kind of did think Ianthe was attractive. I also really enjoy Pandsala, but I didn't find her dynamic with Sioned and Rohan quite as engaging, even though she also did some bad-ass stuff in the long run. Her weird push and pull backstabby, politicized sisterly thing was interesting, though. Extra Details: Okay, like I said, I think this series is the cheesiest fantasy series in the WORLD and in a lot of ways it's one of my first nostalgia fandoms. If you haven't read them, they are kind of ridiculously long (Like, GRR Martin-long), but they're quick reads despite that and rather less depressing than a lot of high fantasy. It's silly in the way that "adult fantasy" that takes itself way too seriously can be. A lot of the main protagonists actively enjoy each others' company and that's as much integral to the book as the politics and dragon-slaying. That said, I kinda asked for a semi-serious plotty story. But if you want to run with the "it's cheesy fantasy" and want to write about Ianthe rescuing princesses or Sioned running away to be a knight and abducting Ianthe away from her toxic father, or something silly, I say get down with your nerd self and run with it. I've only read parts of the second trilogy, and the second generation aren't really very interesting to me. If you want to write future-fic, I would prefer that it continues to focus on the original generation (no matter how much I love Andry, Pol just seems like kind of a jerk).

House of M - New X-Men: Academy X: Any The Series: I'm surprised it took me so long to nominate and request this fandom. I love New X-Men and was GUTTED when Decimation forced them into killing off so many of the characters. If you've never read it, New X-Men: Academy X was an X-Man title in the mid-00's, focusing on entirely new students at Xavier's Academy, being taught by the more established characters. Some of the New X-Men have managed to escape and become general Marvel characters in their own rights (David Alleyne, for example), but for the most part, they were just teenagers at school who rarely got caught up in larger plots. 616 New X-Men were about teenagers fighting, and coming to grips with the fact that they're being raised and taught to go sacrifice themselves for a Greater Goal. They're all wonderfully, horribly traumatized teenagers with powers. The plots were fleshed out and realistic, and when they weren't they were still interesting or fun. This request isn't technically for that. It's for the House of M megacrossover from 2009. Wanda Maximoff, mutant reality shifter and sometimes-crazy-lady, decided that mutants should run the world. SO THEY DID. And suddenly the lives of our young students become very different. Half of them after still "New Mutants", working towards peace, and the others are "Hellions", SHIELD trainees in a violently anti-homo-sapien state system. I've always felt that House of M as a narrative concept has been dismissed too easily by Marvel fans, because there are so many pieces of worldbuilding left unbuilt. I'm most interested in seeing it from the eyes of younger participants who are being trained or have been trained for their places. What does that world look like? New X-Men: Academy X can be found online here: https://viewcomics.me/comic/new-x-men-2004. The House of M crossover runs for issues 16-19. The Request: There's a lot here to play with because the authors never really got to play in either the Academy X OR the House of M sandboxes long enough to do all of their ideas justice. So I'm going to lay out some of the stuff I liked most about NXM in general and HoM in particular. The nom is for HoM, but I think HoM is most interesting in conversation with the standard 616 universe, alongside having the fun YA action stuff and the complicated interpersonal relationships. For example: in 616 Josh joined the Reavers and pretended not to be a mutant until he was confronted with Laurie nearly dying. I can imagine a bunch of different scenarios for House of M that would lead to where we see Josh and Laurie in the HoM comics (Laurie undercover with the New Mutants, and Josh working as an interrogator alongside Kevin). Laurie's introversion in 616 juxtaposed against her brazen treachery and clear control over her skills in HoM. HoM shows Kevin in a full decontamination suit, but we know in 616 that his ability is blocked by wearing synthetic fibers (I imagined this to be a interrogator scare tactic, but it could be any number of other things). Kevin and Josh's relationship in 616 is fraught, especially with Josh's previous experiences with anti-mutant activists and the fact that Kevin killed his father when his powers manifested. But they seemed to work together well in HoM. And speaking of Kevin-- how did his powers manifesting actually pan out in a universe where mutants aren't seen as a threat? I have to wonder whether there's some concept of "acceptable casualties" because some peoples' powers clearly manifest first in dangerous situations. Alternatively: Fluffy Josh/Kevin with a backdrop of torture, murder and state violence. I ship mostly Josh/Kevin because rivals-to-lovers and boy-who-kills-anything-he-touches/boy-who-cannot-be-killed is Great For Me. I also love the abuse of powers and manipulation involved in being interrogators/torturers(/murderers?) for the House of Magneto. They work together, they hurt people together, but maybe they also... smooch? THAT SAID! Adding Laurie to that ship is always a great way to fuck up and destabilize them! Especially in HoM, where we know she's already keeping secrets and can and WILL use her pheromones to fuck with people. And David! OH, DAVID. The only real New Mutant in this request. Does he have previous relationships with Josh and/or Kevin? I don't mind David/Noriko, but I also ship David with Kevin and Josh, and also Tommy and Teddy from Young Avengers, if you feel like exploring other parts of the HoM world. I have never considered David/Laurie before, but if you want to give it a whirl, I'm down. As for David-- His responses to state violence (as evidenced by the Hellions and SHIELD) are clearly different from the rest of the requested characters, and it would be interesting to explore David and his experience of this universe. Are his powers still restrained the same way? I know he supposedly dies at the end of the HoM mini-arc, but we never see them die, so feel free to write David managing to crawl off and plan to take down everything and everyone. A specific DNW for this fandom is Josh/Rahne. I don't mind the relationship having existed and impacting the characters, but only as a past relationship.

Extra Details:

SENSORY DETAILS. When it comes to magic and meta powers-- especially ones that aren't battle-oriented-- is what they feel like. What does it MEAN for David to be able to know anything someone else knows? What does the emptiness and fullness of it do to him? Josh's powers are all tactile and his body actively changes after trauma (in 616, first by turning him gold, then by creating black spots on his skin after he kills someone for the first time). Does his power always alter him, but usually in unnoticeable ways? What can he know and feel from a touch? Same for Kevin-- does withering sate a hunger, or make him feel worse? What would it feel like if he touched Josh? And Laurie... I'd love both her thought-process and the sensory details of what she's doing. Can she smell her own pheromones? Do they ever affect her? What does she feel like when she's manipulating people so subtly that they barely notice a passing smell? If you want to bring in other 616 knowledge and see what it looks like in HoM, that's cool. So is bringing in other HoM storylines. There's a throw-away line in Luke Cage's HoM crossover that the Runaways are known as an organized crime group. Cage himself runs a resistence cell (and given the end of the NXM crossover, David seems like he'd be willing to throw in with that lot). Young Avengers, the other New X-Men who weren't given much screentime in the HoM crossover-- I'd love any of that. Young Justice (Comics): Match, Tim Drake

The Series: Comics are confusing! This request is for the late-90s version of Young Justice by Peter David, which consisted of Robin, Impulse, Superboy, Arrowette, Secret, and Wonder Girl, along with others. It's very much a young-heroes-trying-to-make-their-way. Unlike the newer show, this Young Justice tended to be left on their own without much of a guiding hand. It was a very 90s comic, with very 90s fashion and a lot of nod-nod-wink-wink in-jokes. I love it because it's a series that always wore its humor on its sleeve. It's an affectionate look at young superheroes, and allowed them to react to teen problems alongside the more standard superhero tropes. There's the possibility for angst and darkness (and once they graduated to Teen Titans especially, that came up more), but they were allowed to be both hurt and upset AND fun and cheerful. The comics weren't available collected until last year (it took them TWENTY YEARS JFC), and it's well-worth buying from your local retailer, but you can also find them online here. The character I'm requesting first appeared in Superboy's solo series (starting in issue #35), which can be found here and again in the first volume of Young Justice: Sins of Youth. The Request: SO! I have always loved Match in the original YJ and Superboy comics, and the writers gave him really short shrift. We have a clone of Kon, who is as smart, if not smarter, can pretend to be Kon for extended periods of time— but every time he tries, people get hurt or die. I’ve always wondered how Tim felt that he literally couldn’t tell his best friend from an imposter. And then Match went and ran off and disappeared and no one ever seemed to consider what he was doing, after thousands of his/Kon’s siblings/clones were murdered essentially in front of him and the Agenda fell apart. (I’m not entirely surprised that Kon didn’t pay attention to all of those clones of him dying, but think about it from the standpoint of someone for whom those were supposed to be an army of his siblings. What a way to get survivor’s guilt.) Did Match go to Lex? It doesn’t seem like it, but given that as Kon’s clone, he’s technically Lex’s son too, it’s a possibility. Or alternately! He got himself out of the superhero game and did something else! What was it? I’d also love for a story about him wanting to be a super and have that family that Kon and Clark have, but being shut out of that world because he’s a “villain”. Or him getting that family after so long. Or him showing up at the Kents’ place because “fuck it, if Kon can have this, so can I” and it goes… well or poorly, depending on you. Or him finding his own family in a place that is separate from the who superhero thing, and Kon or Tim or Clark stumbling on him. Or Lex trying to use him— whether or not it works is up to you, although I’d love for it to touch on Match’s need to be part of something larger— after all, he was built and trained to be the vanguard for an army that was summarily murdered in front of him. Tim's refusal to even vaguely hint about his real identity during this time is fun too-- we have two boys who are both hiding their identities in different ways. It makes me wonder if Tim COULD have figured Match out, if the Sins of the Youth plotline didn't happen or was delayed somehow, because he seems to have all of the pieces of information. Or maybe Match-as-Kon was the only person Tim revealed part of his real name too, and has to deal with the ramifications of trust. Actually, Tim and the Issues Of Trust is the YA novel that I'd love to see Tim and Match (and Kon and the rest of YJ) star in. Bring back Mr Sarcastic (PLEASE bring back Mr Sarcastic) and Alvin Draper. Bring back the way that Tim hides by burrowing under identities and performances, and collects information on everyone he knows. I love detective stories and, out of all the Bats, Tim has always struck me as one of the best actual detectives, rather than crime-fighters. So Tim getting lost in a mystery will always make me happy. There's also something interesting about a group of young teens fighting for their own autonomy and identity. At this point in Tim's story, I think he was still thinking of the Robin thing as almost an extracurricular, and probably grappling with how hard it is on him physically, as well as mentally. So, I guess struggling for a coherent snse of self and agency are really interesting touchstones in this fandom. ALSO, MY DEEPLY HELD RARE PAIR FROM THE 90s: Tim/Match! See above, re: Match being present for Identity Crisis instead of Kon. I’d love Match to be trying to follow Kon’s footsteps re: Cassie, and being way more into Tim, which leads to Tim being confused and into Kon. Also any of the above prompts can include Tim (maybe Tim tries to help cushion a meeting between Match and Kon or Clark! Or maybe he just ends up Match’s sugar daddy. I’m down.) Although this request is ripe for dubious identity weirdness with Match pretending to be Kon, I'd really prefer that you focus on Match getting to be his own person, even if there's some pretending-to-be-Kon in there. Extra Details: This has been a lowkey love of mine for literally decades. My absolute favorite gift of all time was original pages from one of the Superboy issues where Match appears for the first time. And as I've grown older, my love for this rare, obscure character has deepened. Also, as I've grown older, I've begun to want more adult!Match, or growing up!Match just because the idea of growing up in the margins of superhero culture after everything that happened to him is really interesting. He was straight-up groomed and brainwashed, and then the Agenda was gone, so how did he cope? What is he doing now? What kind of adult does he make? This request is specifically for the mid-90s comic, so feel free to stick to that. But if you read the 2010-era Teen Titans and want to explore some later story choices-- like Match becoming Bizarro-like, Slade making him part of Titans East, or his fear that Jericho would hurt the Titans in his body, or save Match from Superboy-Prime, I'm not going to complain. (Personal headcanon time: I think Slade was trying to mind control Match with the same stuff he used on Rose, and it caused the Bizarro-like symptoms). I also love Elseworlds and mirror!verse stuff too. As I've said elsewhere in the letter, I really prefer Happily Ever After/Happily For Now stuff, and I prefer my bittersweet fics heavy on the sweetness. Please give Match the love and affection he's always deserved. But also, please feel free to make both Match and Tim HURT first.

by Jenifer Irwin Part 5 "Get off of me," Arashi snarled, grabbing the arm that was just placed around her shoulders and shoving it away forcibly enough to nearly hyperextend its elbow. She folded her arms over her chest and glared at the cold metal floor in front of her, where her royal crown was lying.

The man sitting next to her feigned being emotionally hurt. "Arashi, I've given you everything a woman could possibly want and you still don't want to be my queen," he said, his distinct British accent really getting on her nerves. "What more could you want?" "What I want is for you to put me back on Earth and leave me and Ivo alone," she growled in his face. "We were perfectly happy before you came along, lime-boy." "I see you've picked up some of his mannerisms," the green-skinned alien mused as he remembered how his adversary used to call him that. "But, all that aside, I thought you liked them as evil as they come? I'm more evil than that pile of lard." "You also have no feelings other than nastiness. At first, when I realized Ivo had other feelings, I thought it was blasphemy, but then I realized it added a certain charm to him. I don't like him simply because he's nasty, I like him because he's just... he's just interesting! You're not! You're just a cliché alien usurper! And your 'feelings' toward me are so fake!" "I suppose I could engineer other feelings into my genetic code if you REALLY wanted me to, but they'd be fairly repressed. I don't want to seem almost good like he does anymore." "I wouldn't agree to become your queen even if you did that. I want to be with HIM, not YOU," Arashi growled, then got up and left the room. Takar sighed and leaned back on the small loveseat, thinking. She sure was determined to get back to Ivo, somehow. I hate how love messes up EVERYTHING, the Ykrian King thought to himself, muttering slightly. I'd love to torment Ivo by stealing her away from him in mind and heart as well as physical presence, but it seems I can't do that. Oh well, it's only been a few days, she'll eventually crack. And I'm pretty sure Ivo has given up anyway, else he'd have been here by now. Pathetic weakling. Now I have to build a new adversary, blast it. Takar left the room and went to his private study, starting to draw up the plans for a new and improved source of entertainment. ** Arashi sat in her room on the giant alien ship, face in her hands. Ivo, what's taking you so long? I thought you would have been here within an hour or so of my being abducted... It's been days, and it seems like years to me... Takar is such a fake moron, I hate him... I can't find any way out of this place, I'm depending on you to come and get me, Ivo. I beg of you, don't give up... I love you... Wiping tears from her eyes, Arashi walked over to the reinforced window and stared out into space at the Earth below. ** Dr. Ivo Robotnik was thirsty, hungry and in pain, both physical and mental. He had been hanging from a tractor beam in midair for days, and it was impossible to find a comfortable position. He was so stiff, and it was like hanging by his chest from a meat hook, without the hook. He could only sleep when completely exhausted, because there was no level of comfort to do so any other time. If he didn't get at least some water within a few days, he would lose all of his strength and slowly die. It was so taunting, having the clear river right under him, but he was suspended in the air where no tree branches or anything were anywhere within reach. He doubted he could pull himself off the tractor beam anyway. The beam's projector sat on a rock about 30 feet away, no way he could get to it or affect it. He had struggled quite a bit, but nothing could be done to budge the beam. This... sucks, Ivo thought to himself as he stretched, but it hurt. He rolled his head back and forth, trying to get the stiffness out of his neck. He could only sleep with his head hanging forward, and that played havoc with the muscles in his neck and shoulders. After a while of staring at the beam projector as if trying to will it to stop working, nothing happened, and he slumped forward again with a sigh. He was so hungry and thirsty... if only it rained, but it was dead summer and the region wasn't getting much rain. His leather suit made him sweat a lot, making him lose water even quicker than normal. Suspended in midair, Ivo waited for his inevitable, slow, miserable death. ** Two days later, Arashi sat up in bed, rubbing her eyes. She opened them, hoping to find that maybe it was all a bad dream, but much to her discontent, Takar was sitting on the side of the bed, having come into her bedroom a few minutes before to wait for her to wake up. "Good morning, my queen," the alien said, smiling charmingly. "I'm not your queen; and get out of my room," Arashi muttered. "I still can't understand why you don't want to be the Ykrian Queen! Normal women would leap at the chance, but no, you'd rather stay with that unattractive slob on earth..." "I'm not a normal woman, and yes, I would rather stay with Ivo. I don't care what he looks like, he's a lot nicer to me than you are, and he actually understands me!" Arashi growled and stood up, tugging her shirt and jeans to straighten them out. Being a computer nerd, she was no stranger to sleeping in her street clothes, and usually didn't even have to slip her shoes on in the morning because they were already on. "I'd understand you too if you would actually talk to me," Takar said, pretending to be hurt. "You will never understand me, and nobody will but him," Arashi muttered. The alien stood up and walked around the bed to her, putting an arm around her shoulders. "Ah, come on, give me a chance, will you?" he asked, trying to be a little more casual than normal, and slipped his other arm around her stomach. That was a mistake. Takar went to the floor, gasping for breath, after Arashi viciously elbowed him in the gut, screaming at him. He recovered quickly and looked up at her, growling. "Fine. I only wanted to torment Ivo, and I was more than willing to make your life like a paradise. But you blew your chance." He stood up and grabbed Arashi, quickly getting her into a hold that she couldn't break out of, and dragged her kicking and screaming from the room. With a little assistance from some guards, he carried her to the recesses of the ship, where he threw her into a narrow, reinforced room with absolutely nothing in it and no windows. The door was in the ceiling of the room, which was 10 feet off the floor--much higher than she would be able to reach. The room was about 6 feet long by 6 feet wide. Looking down into the hatch, Takar said, "Like I said, I was willing to make your life great. But now you're going to die. Slowly..." He paused briefly. "Alone." The door slammed shut, leaving Arashi in utter silence and darkness. ** The squirrel scampered down its tree, retrieving a nut from the ground. It munched on the nut contentedly, peering at its surroundings with wide, shining eyes, and hopped away, dropping the nut, its attention span quite short. The furry creature scurried up onto a big boulder, tail twitching slightly as it found something curious there. What was this odd thing? It had a funny light coming out of one side, and strange, circular protrusions on the top. It was about the size of the squirrel's torso, and didn't look like anything he'd ever seen before. Curiously, he nibbled at it, finding it quite hard to chew. Pushing the odd thing to see if it did anything interesting, the squirrel jumped back as it slid off the boulder and shattered on another rock below. A surprised scream nearby mixed with a huge, simultaneous THUD and SPLASH frightened the squirrel, who turned and bolted away, up into his tree. ** Ivo tried to get his bearings in a bit of a panic, raising his head and shaking it vigorously to get the water out of his mustache. ...water... Looking down, the doctor realized he was lying on the bank of the river, half in the water. He was free! Nothing was holding onto him! Something happened while he was sleeping! His entire body ached badly from stiffness, but he didn't care. Greedily, he dunked his head in the water and took huge gulps of it, glad for once that the river wasn't instead filled with oil. Stimulated by the sudden intake of something, his stomach rumbled hungrily, and he got up stiffly but quickly, grabbing a rock and looking around almost frantically. Noticing movement of something that looked alive up in a tree, Ivo turned and hurled the rock with all his strength. Even when ridden with the shakes from hunger, his aim was true, and a squirrel fell out of the tree, dead. Raw meat and the occasional tuft of fur wasn't exactly a gourmet meal, but it sufficed, and helped to get rid of some of the growling of Ivo's stomach. He searched around the area for a moment and found the broken tractor-beam-projector, having shattered on a rock somehow. Thanking his lucky stars, he found his trusty broken screwdriver nearby and managed to repair his Shapechanger within a few minutes. Heading back towards his base, Ivo started to plan his course of action. First, of course, he would have to fill his stomach, which would take about 30 seconds thanks to his pill machine, then he could think well enough to figure out how to get to Takar and rescue Arashi. ** Okay, I can find out all I need right here, Ivo thought to himself as he sipped a Dr Pepper, studying the computer attached to the Life Box that he stole from Takar's underground lab a while back. He hadn't thought to check this computer for the file before, and wouldn't have found it before anyway. He ran a powerful search for the text 'G* Robotnik' on every file in the system and found the file, archived, renamed to a completely different filetype to prevent easy discovery, and flagged hidden. Nothing could hide from a computer expert... When Ivo pulled up the file, he found a wealth of information. Everything from Takar's thought process to his personality to his physical strengths were detailed in his genetic code, and along with the '.box' file he found in the archive was an electronic journal, which was simple to open. Takar wasn't much for passwords, being arrogant enough to think that his little file-hiding trick would be good enough. The most notable entries in the journal were chilling. Ykriat 2382775 Somehow I knew something was going to go wrong on this vacation... Oh well, I'll just have to make do. This looks like an interesting plane of existence. I've never seen one so big, it's a good thing I have instant-warp capabilities. I should find an interesting planet to torment. Ykriat 2603828 The nearest planet I found is filled with small life-forms, no intelligent life yet. However, these are some of the most interesting things I've ever seen, so I think I'll wait for a while to see what it develops into. Ykriat 3280725 These things that call themselves 'humans' develop too fast. I've slowly engineered them to have very random intellects and become collectively stupider the larger the population gets. Then I'll have lots of people to torment and they'll never be able to get rid of me! On a side note, I stashed my Continuation 3000 in the central point of the universe. It's fortunate that this plane of existence is structured similar to what I am used to. I like to call the star Ivo. Nobody will ever find it, because humans will never be able to warp, and nobody would ever live long enough to survive that trip at the speeds I predict they'll be able to travel. On a side note, I'm starting to like the calendar that the humans came up with, so I think I'll be converting to that soon. April 12, 3053 Bother. That was one of the best incarnations of myself that I ever created. Why'd they have to go and kill me? Oh well, I've got Project Shadow under way... now, to make something that will help to execute it the rest of the way... August 6, 3057... Ivo's jaw dropped. August 6, 3057 was his birthday. After a stunned moment, he kept reading. Well, I decided to go through with it. I made a human being that might be capable, someday, of the same abilities I possess. If he's determined enough. These humans just aren't giving me the challenge I want. Sure, I've been defeated, but I was also limiting myself to abilities that only mildly superhuman people could accomplish. Hopefully I can have some real adventure with this one. I call him Julian Ivo. I engineered him to be an extremely evil megalomaniac, an absolute master of everything mechanical, and quite excellent with programming and the like as well. I made a little something to go along with him, something he can practice on and develop his abilities. As I sit here looking at these three, Julian suspended in one chamber, the hedgehog in another and the fox in another, I have a feeling they're going to become quite famous. I'll awaken Julian first, when the time is right, then the hedgehog about 2 years later, then the fox a little bit after that. Still not sure what to name the animals. I'm going to start recreating my own race in case I need help with these three... still, no one must know my true plans and inner secrets, so I need to make up a good cover... Ivo sat, absolutely shocked, staring at the screen. Sonic and Tails were his brothers. ** Strained, exhausted panting could be heard from the floor of the lab, and a white-gloved, trembling hand slammed itself up onto the computer desk, clawing at it, trying to pull its owner up. Ivo slowly made it to a half-standing, half-kneeling position, breathing raggedly, trying to recover from the massive combination stroke-heart-attack he just endured. His hand slipped and he fell back to the floor, wheezing. I won't believe it, I refuse to... but... but it's true, isn't it... "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" The strained, cracking scream echoed through the base, Ivo unable to stomach the fact that his two archenemies were his own flesh and blood... unable to accept that he was just a pawn in Takar's game... unable to accept reality. Clutching his head, Ivo could physically feel himself going insane. It was as if something was welling up in the back of his mind, threatening to explode, threatening to paint his vision the angry color of blood. He knew he would be completely unable to control himself very soon, and dragged himself up into the computer chair, rolling over to a wall-mounted computer terminal and typing something in as fast as he possibly could. SUFFERING. MEDICAL ATTENTION. MUST RETURN TO STABLE THOUGHT. Just as he hit enter, his will to retain control cracked, and he started to violently destroy everything he could find with madly swinging fists. Soon, his gloves started to tear, revealing bleeding knuckles underneath, until finally several robots closed in on him and managed to stop him, injecting him with a powerful tranquilizer that left him slumping weakly to the floor on the spot. With stiff, calculated movements, the five robots tended to the unstable doctor, placing him on an examination table. They diagnosed his problems within seconds of analyzing his pulse, a blood sample and other telltale signs, then went about slowing his rapid pulse and administering some drugs that would speed his recovery extremely quickly. They also injected him with extra-strength Prozac and gave him a few other things that would enhance his thought process. Ten minutes later, Ivo sat up, calmed down to an almost impossible state. He pulled on a new pair of gloves, then dismissed the robots, glad for the advanced AI he had coded into them. He got up and approached the Life Box, stepping inside and closing the doors. The doctor briefly examined a small keypad that was clearly visible by aid of a fluorescent light installed just above it. He pressed the 'Scan' button and stood still, watching a white beam that cut across the Box horizontally move from the ceiling downward, scanning over him, easily giving him a thorough physical examination while it recorded his present DNA structure. The beam seemed to disappear into the floor of the Box and a small green light flashed on the keypad, the digital display reading, "YOU MAY EXIT. THANK YOU FOR USING THE LIFE BOXÔ." When Ivo stepped out, he sat down at the computer, finding his file loaded and changed to fit his present state. The computer had compared this file to all of the other files on the hard drive and successfully isolated Takar, Sonic and Tails' DNA, displaying condensed versions of their files in smaller windows. Ivo directed his file to keep all of the physical enhancements that came from the three, but deleted anything related to the mind that weren't his own qualities in the first place. He did admire the way Takar made this so user-friendly--his own qualities were highlighted in red, Sonic's in blue, Takar's in green and Tails' in yellow. He could easily find and delete things he didn't want. When he was finished, Ivo saved the file, then stepped back into the Life Box and pressed the 'Mutate' button. Several *thunk* sounds were heard as the Box sealed itself to an airtight state, and then a hissing sound echoed off the steel walls. Robotic clamps extended from the walls, holding Ivo in place as the gas started to take effect, and he soon went limp, put into a very deep, coma-like sleep just as normal procedure was supposed to go. The Life Box quickly restructured Ivo's DNA, something that would be very painful if he were awake. Most of the restructuring went on in his neural cells, but there were basic bits of information in every other cell that needed to be changed as well. Within 2 minutes the entire process was finished and Ivo was a new mutation, though nothing about him changed appearance-wise. One of the clamps that kept him standing produced a small needle, injecting him with enough caffeine to make a dead sloth do a quarter-mile in 6 seconds. The caffeine instantly brought the doctor out of his slumber, and the clamps let go of him. He had to take a minute to reorient himself, then remembered what happened and stepped out of the box, sitting back down at the computer. Ivo drummed his fingers on the desk, restored to his normal state of mind, and said to himself, "I really don't want to do this, but I'm going to have to." He placed the cursor over the 'Create!' button on Sonic's file and clicked. The Box churned and groaned, eventually spitting the blue hedgehog out, and Sonic jumped up, finding himself standing 10 feet from Ivo. "Not AGAIN!" the hero whined, sighing as he looked up at the mad scientist, then tilting his head in puzzlement when Ivo shook his head slightly. "You've got nothing to worry about, Sonic," Ivo said as he pulled out his laser gun. The hedgehog cringed, closing his eyes tightly and waiting for a meaningless death, but then he heard something hit the floor with a loud *THOK* and looked down to see the battery cartridge of the gun on the floor. Dr. Robotnik calmly set the disabled gun down on the desk. "Well, I take that back. Presently you have nothing to worry about from me, but... well, have a seat and see for yourself." The doctor pulled up another office chair and opened Takar's journal on the computer, rolling his own chair aside a bit. He leaned his elbows against the desk and locked his hands together in front of his face, sighing and leaning his forehead against them in deep concern. Sonic very dubiously pulled himself up into the chair, moving over to read the journal entries, several of which had been highlighted red. By the time he was finished, his expression was one of unimaginable shock. "I can't believe it either, but you know, it does make sense. You're the only one who's been able to defeat me all these years... who else but a... brother... who holds just as much power as I do?" Ivo asked, stumbling awkwardly on the word 'brother.' He couldn't believe he was using it to refer to his bitter enemy of many years. "Oh, geez... my last name... it isn't 'hedgehog...' My name is Sonic Robotnik!?" Sonic asked, his voice cracking in disbelief, and he leaned his face heavily on one hand, starting to hyperventilate from shock. The doctor twitched slightly. "Please... please, don't put those two names together. Even if it is true... just don't say it. Here, don't have a stroke or something, those are nasty." Ivo reached over to a nearby compartment in the wall and pulled out a Pepsi and a Dr Pepper, handing the Pepsi to Sonic. Soon, the two sat facing each other only 5 feet apart, elbows resting on their knees, digesting all of this information. Ivo was the first to speak after a while. "I brought you back because, for one thing, Takar is incredibly powerful and I want to do this right... If I were to die without bringing you back, you would have never had a chance to come back and destroy him. For another thing, an Evil Overlord can only help save the world so much. I almost went insane after the space-colony incident when I ended up helping out. I need someone to blame saving the world on, and I'm pretty sure you wouldn't mind saying you saved it and I was the big bad villain who caused all the trouble in the first place." He paused. "I know, despite all the problems between us, that deep down you enjoy the adventure just as much as I do... and I don't think either of us are going to want to let Takar ruin that." Sonic looked up at him, considering the situation for a few long moments. Finally, he extended a hand. "Truce till Takar's destruction?" Ivo nodded slightly, taking the hand and shaking it firmly. "Truce till Takar's destruction." The two finished their drinks and started to plan. ** "Okay, we need to collect about 1000 rings each, just to be safe," Ivo said absently as he studied the floor plan for Takar's mother-ship. "1000!? Are you nuts? I might have skills, but not enough to collect THAT many rings!" "Remember, there aren't badniks around every corner, nor am I there every second stage to attack you." "Oh, yeah... Well, I suppose I'll go start collecting," Sonic said, then started running through the base, grabbing rings. I can't believe I'm teaming up with him again, Sonic thought to himself as he ran. Perhaps there's some good in him after all. I thought he would be the type to take the entire world with him in the event that it was going to be destroyed. Course, then there'd be nothing to take over, but I didn't think he'd be about to help anyone do anything. Oh well, no time to dwell on that, I've got to get rings, and we've got to destroy Takar! Ivo memorized the mother-ship layout fairly quickly, then found the exact location of the machine that Takar used to keep himself alive. Indeed, it was the center of the universe, but oddly, no details were given for the star Ivo. The doctor was amazed to find that the Milky Way galaxy was apparently several hundred trillion light years away from the center of the universe. In the center, billions of stars were extremely close together, making him wonder how in the world a ship, much less a living being, could survive the conditions. Furthermore, he wondered how it was possible that there were some stars only a few thousand miles apart. It seemed impossible, but this was all he had to go off of, and he was going to destroy Takar no matter how much it took. While the Shapechanger ran around in the likeness of Ultra Robotnik and collected rings, Ivo continued to research and plan. This is a difficult decision. Heading for the Continuation 3000 would give Takar less warning, but going to rescue Arashi first would ensure that she's safe. Am I willing to risk her death for this? I could just bring her back to life afterward... But there's no need to risk her death for no reason. I'm going to... As the Shapechanger passed by, Ivo got an idea. ** Arashi lay on the floor of the small chamber, trying to fight off the insanity that threatened to grip her. She really was alone. It was absolutely silent in the chamber, and pitch black. All she could hear was the beating of her own heart. That is, until something in her backpack moved. Arashi gasped in surprise as a huge robotic arm burst out of the backpack, clamping onto the wall nearby and pulling the rest of itself out. The room was now quite cramped, and Arashi shoved herself into a corner, unable to see what was going on, but she could clearly hear the humming of some kind of vehicle. Suddenly, a light flicked on in the vehicle, and there were Ivo and Sonic... sitting in the Shapechanger. Arashi couldn't decide whether to be more freaked out about the fact that a 3-ton vehicle just pulled itself out of her backpack or the fact that Ivo and Sonic appeared to be cooperating. She stared at them in disbelief, and Ivo flipped the lid of the pod up, grinning. "Well, don't just stand there staring, we have an alien to destroy," he said in an amused tone. Arashi pointed at Sonic, raising an eyebrow, and Ivo added, "We're in a truce till Takar's dead." Knowing Sonic was a trustable type who wouldn't pull any nasty tricks, Arashi climbed up into the Shapechanger and was surprised to see the hedgehog move out of the seat and crouch slightly behind both of the seats, allowing her to take her place. The pod lid flipped down and the vehicle started to change. ** Takar was staring out one of the main chamber windows at the stars, thoughtfully, when he felt a large amount of energy building up. He tried to figure out what it was, but within a moment, a huge explosion rocked the ship. He whirled around quickly, ordering several guards to check out what was going on, and pulled out his own advanced laser gun, remaining where he was, waiting. The ship kept rumbling and Takar became nervous as he heard a bloodcurdling mechanical roar echo through the entire place. Several guards, many of them charred badly, ran screaming into the room as a column of flame burst down the hallway past the large door. Takar's eyes widened as the entire wall shattered and a huge, metallic dragon appeared, snarling. The dragon's mouth opened and Super Sonic spun gracefully out to the floor, followed immediately by Ultra Robotnik, who hit the floor with a sound *CLANG,* dropping to an intimidating kneeling pose, one hand on the floor. "WHAT!?!?" Takar screamed. "Ivo, you are COOPERATING with SONIC!? AGAIN!?" "Even the most bitter of enemies will join forces against a greater evil," Super Sonic said, glaring at Takar. "And it seems you're a greater evil that just won't go away." "I didn't create you two to be this smart!" Takar wailed, then started to shoot, but knew he was defenseless against the two. They had all of the chaos emeralds and he had none. He should have seen this coming. The dragon threw back its head and let out a long, primal roar, causing the base to shake again. Instead of attacking Takar, Ultra Robotnik and Super Sonic began to attack the walls, ceiling and floor, shattering them, and the dragon rampaged about breathing fire and clawing through reinforced steel. Takar looked about in confusion, but couldn't figure out what they were doing, and decided to run and hide. Instead of getting away, however, he found himself swept off his feet. The dragon held him tightly with its tail as it went about its destruction, and the base started to crumble in a short time. The dragon let go of Takar and swallowed up Sonic and Robotnik, then was enveloped in Chaos Control and disappeared as the entire mother ship, exploding in dozens of places and belching out huge clouds of smoke, descended towards earth. Takar, choking on the smoke and getting knocked unconscious by falling debris, went down with the ship towards the ground. "That ought to distract him long enough for us to make it to his Continuation machine," Ultra Robotnik said as the Chaos Control did its work. The three were inside the Metal Dragon's super-armored torso, and could see what was going on outside by looking at the monitor of the onboard computer. The computer displayed what the dragon's eyes could see, and presently they were traveling through a brilliant tunnel of light. Chaos Control was usually instant, but that was for relatively short distances--to travel as far as they were having to go, it was going to take about five minutes. Arashi watched as the two deactivated their super forms to save on rings, morphing back into their normal selves. The Shapechanger now had a backseat for Sonic to sit in thanks to a few quick modifications, and they sat quietly during the ride, Ivo pulling out three drinks and handing two to the others. Sonic shook his head slightly just after taking a drink and commented, "I'm a little dizzy... I feel odd energy..." Arashi and Ivo replied that they felt something similar, and waited curiously, a bit dubiously, to arrive to their destination. Ivo and Sonic had agreed to send the ship to the outer reaches of the general central point of the universe, where the stars were starting to cluster pretty closely. It would probably be about 25 light years away from the very center. A blast of energy ripped time and space open, and three jaws dropped as their owners dizzily stared at what lay before them. Billions of huge chaos emeralds, most of them the size of planets, floated about here. They shimmered beautifully in the light, and the entire surrounding area glowed brightly, as if the ship was floating in another plane of existence and not the blackness of space. Unimaginable amounts of energy thrummed in the very fabric of existence itself here, pulsing like a giant heartbeat. Just one of these huge chaos emeralds would be enough to provide infinite power for an entire galaxy's population, but they were nothing compared to what lay at the very center of the universe. There, in the direct center, was a red chaos emerald too large for even Ivo to comprehend. He directed the onboard computer to analyze it, and the Shapechanger returned that the 'star' Ivo was five light years across at its widest point and five light years tall from the very top to the very point. From twenty-five light years away, much too far for standard stars to be seen as anything more than pinpoints, the 'star' Ivo appeared against the bright, shimmering 'sky' of this area to be as large as a basketball to the naked eye. The largest star known to man up to this point, Betelgeuse, had a radius that reached from the Sun to Jupiter. The giant red chaos emerald, Ivo, was bigger than the distance between the Sun and its next nearest star four light years away, Alpha Centauri. The three occupants of the Shapechanger had only been here for a few seconds and they were starting to feel extremely weird. It wasn't a bad feeling, but they weren't sure if it was a good feeling, either. It was too powerful to comprehend. Something 'clicked,' and instantly, the three seemed to vaporize, turning into nothing but brilliant, shimmering forms of pure chaos energy--Ivo a brilliant blood-red, Sonic a deep blue and Arashi a rich cyan. The euphoria experienced by the three after that was too great to imagine, and they all three gained powers that could only be described as godlike. It was time to break something. ** No longer in need of the Shapechanger, the three warped themselves into the giant chaos emerald, finding themselves within a base quite unlike anything they'd ever seen. As soon as they appeared, they sensed an alarm system go off. The inside of the Emerald was hollow toward the upper half, the open space continuing for about a light year in all directions before there were solid walls. Red ether roiled about in the hollow space, and there appeared to be absolutely nothing in there, until Chaos Ivo spotted something a few million miles away. Within seconds, the three were next to it, and it was at the very central point of the inside of the emerald. A laptop, with a gamepad attached, hovered in midair. On the screen, the word, "CONTINUE?" flashed, and the 'infinity' symbol was right under it. Chaos Arashi willed the computer to examine the .exe file of the game that was running and found that Takar had hacked the ROM to provide him with infinite continues. "Well, we can't have a cheater running the universe," Chaos Arashi said, and hacked the file, resetting the number of continues to zero. When she was done with that, she saved the file and recompiled it, then destroyed the computer. A brilliant green flash blasted through the area and Takar appeared in front of them, growling. He instantly turned into his own form of pure chaos, nothing but a neon green glow. "Alright... you want to destroy my Continuation 3000? I think I'll just destroy your entire UNIVERSE!" The green light expanded rapidly, and the other Chaos forms teleported out, starting to absorb energy from the planet-sized chaos emeralds. Chaos Takar began to build up immense amounts of energy within himself and the Ivo emerald, causing the very fabric of existence to shake. "We have to contain the energy so he just blows himself out of existence," Chaos Ivo said to the other two, and the three zipped around much faster than the speed of light, absorbing as much energy as they could. It was a race to see who could absorb more power, Chaos Takar or them. Three beats one when all four have the same speed, however, and instead of restraining himself, Chaos Takar decided he was going to die anyway and completely abandoned all reserve, building up power much faster than normal. He was killing himself even as he did it, because the energy was too much for a living being to handle, but he was going to do it anyway. "NOBODY'S GOING TO WIN HERE, IVO! IT ALL ENDS IN TOTAL DESTRUCTION!" the Ykrian screamed madly, letting his energy build up faster and faster. The other three Chaos forms raced to keep up. Chaos Ivo could sense that the enemy was nearing the end of his capacity and he would detonate soon, and signaled the other two to stop absorbing and start containing him. The three surrounded the huge red central emerald and created a ball of energy to enclose it, putting everything they had into reinforcing its strength. The entire universe was shaking tremendously, breaking apart most things closer to the center. A huge crack ripped its way down the giant emerald, ether hissing out of it as it threatened to explode... Just as the three Chaos forms had poured all but a tiny amount of energy into the shield, the huge emerald blew apart in a magnificent explosion that brought a tear to Chaos Ivo's eye. It was the most beautiful expression of destruction that he had ever witnessed, but he only had time to watch it for a few seconds before it slammed into the shield, sending all three flying back extremely fast. The explosion reached outward past the shield, breaking it, but Ivo, Arashi and Sonic knew they'd stunted it enough to keep it from spreading much further than a few hundred light-years, and Earth was safe. Summoning the last of their strength, they teleported themselves, and the Shapechanger, back to the field on Earth where the hole to Ivo's underground base was. They immediately reverted to their normal form and collapsed. ** Several days later, Ivo woke up, finding all the chaos emeralds lying next to him along with Arashi and Sonic. Everyone was intact, but they'd also overloaded themselves on energy and were pretty weak, but could function. Ivo slowly got to his feet and woke the other two up. As Sonic dragged himself to a standing position, Ivo dropped a hand heavily on the hedgehog's shoulder. "Thanks," the doctor said weakly, reaching down with a hand to help Arashi stand up. Sonic wavered and mumbled, "Yeah... no prob..." and started to stumble away, still quite disoriented. Ivo and Arashi stood, leaning against each other, watching the hedgehog stagger off. When he got about 200 yards away, Ivo pulled a small device out of his pocket and smiled, pressing the button. Sonic heard a mechanical whirring on his shoulder, but not for long. Ripped apart by a violent explosion, the hedgehog became nothing more than a crater in the earth. Arashi looked up at Ivo, blinking, confused. "Hey, he only said the truce was going to last until Takar was dead," Ivo stated, grinning. ** Ivo and Arashi stood on the balcony of their underground base, leaning against the railing as they stared at the gem-encrusted walls, enjoying a couple of sodas. "The best part is," Ivo said quietly, "Nobody will ever know that I helped save the world, and Sonic is dead. I killed two hedgehogs with one stone!" He laughed along with Arashi. "So, what are you going to do now?" she asked. "The question is not whether I am going to do anything. It's more like... what are we going to do now? All the technology in the universe... so many things in this world and beyond that we haven't explored yet... I bet there's lots of stuff out there even better than the Ivo emerald was. Of course..." He smiled down at her. "None of it is better than you." Arashi looked up at him, smiling slightly. He slipped an arm around her. The Dr Pepper and Mountain Dew sat on the railing, forgotten, as their owners shared a passionate moment and a long kiss. Well, how did you expect it to end? Looks like Evil Overlords Have Feelings Too, after all.

Scandal in the Spotlight: Kyohei Rikudoh Review [SPOILERS]

Ah, Kyohei. One thing you should probably know about me before I get started is that I have been stanning k-pop boyband EXO hardcore for years and there is album art on both my phone and my computer, haha. So to say I was thrilled to learn Voltage Love 365 app has a boy band otome would be a MASSIVE understatement! But how was the route, you ask? Read on to find out!

The world of Scandal in the Spotlight is uh... pretty cut-throat, to say the least. Aspiring MC starts out getting blacklisted from the industry after rejecting Harvey Weinstein her creepy, powerful boss. :( Then her coworker/secret member of popular boy band Arashi Revance, freaking STEALS poetry she wrote for a screenplay and adapts it into Revance’s latest hit (!!!). And then Kyohei, band producer/member and subject of this review, strong-arms/threatens MC into ghostwriting erotic lyrics for their 10th anniversary, in exchange for getting her un-blacklisted afterwards...!!

...Yikes. Poor MC (I hope she got paid for the plagiarism and she’s getting paid for the ghostwriting?! Super important 💰). Anyway, at first glance Kyohei definitely comes across as your typical scary/aggressive and demanding alpha male ("I make the rules here. Anyone who gets in our way will be dropped, no exceptions”). He might not be the official leader of the group, but he sure acts like he is. Kyo is willing to do whatever it takes to ensure Revance’s continued success, including using his professional clout to stifle an up-and-coming rival group (which I found very confusingly attractive, lmao). And with MC, he’s just as bossy, but also SUPER FREAKING FLIRTATIOUS like you have no idea (“If you don't have enough experience...perhaps we can fix that”). And of course the guy has to claim it’s all in the name of inspiring MC to write sexier lyrics and he couldn’t possibly be attracted to MC, lmao.

But much like his giant adorable mop of a dog (named Little Yamada!! ^_^), when it comes to MC, Kyohei is all bark and no bite. From the start, he’s nice to MC his own bizarre, super extra way. When MC’s feeling down about her skills, he doesn’t hesitate to buy out massive amounts of ad space from Shibuya Crossing just to prove a point, lol. And after the turning point in the story, Kyo becomes downright protective of MC, keeping his manager and the other members off MC’s back while she struggles with writer’s block! Aww.

TBH, domineering types tend to be really hit or miss for me. But in Kyohei’s case, it’s a hit (mostly! more on that below). For starters, once Kyohei starts caring about MC he’s never mean ever again (even if he still loves teasing her) and I am so super weak to otome guys who pull off that transition well. I liked his tragic backstory/motivation, cheesy as it was. And finally, Kyohei plays into your typical diva-ish pop star romance fantasy really nicely. It’s all about expectations: a bad boy-type pop star is WAY more interesting than a super nice pop star imho, and this is one of the rare cases where I think a completely nice character wouldn’t be nearly as compelling as someone like Kyohei, who does turn out to be vaguely nice ish, but also has a bit of an edge to him.

Speaking of pop fantasies, I generally enjoyed the plot progression, which was one giant, unbelievably cheesy wish fulfillment fantasy. Poor, sweet MC’s struggles to come up with sexy lyrics tie in really nicely with her growing relationship with Kyohei, and I always do love it when the external plot and romance get intertwined. But one thing that I didn’t like as much is the plot’s main villain, who at once wants to produce for Revance, poach MC, and get in MC’s pants...?! It’s too much!! I personally think the story’s conflict would’ve been much cleaner if his creepy romance subplot were completely removed.

Also, this isn’t really a critique as it is a commentary, but: parts of this story were kind of sad/infuriating to read from a post-#metoo perspective. MC’s screenwriting career was completely screwed through no fault of her own, after all! And much as Kyo did grow on me, he did initially force MC into the whole ghostwriting gig. So, this might sound kind of weird, but I think an AU of Scandal in the Spotlight featuring Kyohei as a villain type would’ve been EVEN COOLER while satisfying my never-ending thirst for revenge against evil guys? Imagine: MC turns down Revance flat, and goes straight to rival group Grenade, romancing one of those boys instead. Her and Boy work together to start a viral internet campaign to take down both Harvey Weinstein and Revance. It becomes an epic tale of MC+Boy vs the world, and in the end Revance and Grenade resolve their differences IkeSen style (though Grenade wins), while former boss gets sent to jail. Now wouldn’t that be satisfying to read. :) (...okay maybe this is why I was rejected from creative writing class in school lmao)

And while we’re talking about #metoo, there is one specific scene with Kyohei that I didn’t like! Early on, he smacks MC’s butt (flirtatiously??). I secretly kind of enjoyed all the other sexy, aggressively flirty things he pulls, but that one’s just straight up harassment! :( Fortunately, later in the route, Kyohei makes it clear that a) he’ll quit the flirting if MC tells him to stop, and b) he asks for consent before actually getting it on with MC. So there’s that... Anyways, this incident is one of the reasons why, mid-way through Episode 2, I was certain I was going to hate Kyohei with a fiery passion and that this review was going to be an extended rant about celebrities. But it really speaks to Kyohei’s character evolution that I ended up forgiving him for his transgressions, mostly.

Overall, if you’re willing to accept a party size helping of cheese in your romance stories (or, if you have ever had a crush on any of 1D/NSYNC/The Beatles/etc), I think you’ll like Kyohei. His route is definitely not perfect, and it certainly isn’t high literature, but it provides some super satisfying wish fulfillment and is generally a fun, sexy read!

“Kyohei...I think I’m starting to get the wrong idea...” “You don’t have the wrong idea.” 💕

Personality: 8/10. I really wouldn’t call Kyohei a nice guy in general, and I have beef with how he acted in the beginning, but Kyohei post-turning point in plot is pretty awesome. The guy manages to be nice to MC and super mega sexy at the same time. Also I love how extra he is. It’s perfect for a pop star.

Appearance: 8/10. This guy’s hair is simultaneously the most and least necessary thing ever, lol.

MC: 6/10. I like how self-aware and determined MC is. However, she was too passive for my personal tastes, especially when it came to the asshole men in her life. (Also girl really needs to learn how to digitize/password protect her lyrics...)

Plot/Payoff: 6/10. I generally enjoyed how gloriously cheesy the plot was, especially with regards to MC’s lyric writing and her relationship with Kyohei, but I do think the main villain ended up trying to do way too much. Also, I really wanted to see the creepy screenwriter get his comeuppance in the story, and I would LOVE confirmation that MC’s getting paid for her troubles! 💰💰

Personal enjoyment: 7/10. I started out really disliking this route because MC gets screwed over way too hard in the beginning, but Kyohei himself really makes this story more enjoyable than it has any right to be! ^_^

And your opinion on ryo from 7seeds?

He’s probably the character I wanted to slap the most while reading xDD He reminds me a bit of Asagi from Basara. Tbh there was much discourse about the summer A team, especially about him and Ango, in the Russian fandom, and I was rly displeased to find out that many people justified their actions by the fact they had such past (and by the shestheonetoblame which i hate even without context) and said they were right in that major conflict of the series and even had RIGHT to do what they did. I never felt this way. Imo, you can EXPLAIN their behaviour like this, but it doesn’t EXCUSE it at all. Seriously, the summer A teachers nearly failed the project as he and Ango would cause another genocide and apocalypse in the future -if not for the summer B team and circumstances.

To put it simply, I don’t quite understand Ryo. My friend and I tried to analyze the logic of his actions and we failed: we didn’t find any explanation better than him being in love too deeply emotionally involved with Ango because I JUST DON’T SEE ANY OTHER LOGIC IN IT. No doubt he’s as deeply hurt and influenced by the same upbringing and events as everyone else in summer A team is, but I felt like he (and probably Nijiko, but she never caused as much trouble) was always a bit/a lot aside and much of a delinquent. And… does he really change throughout the series? Ango surely does, he goes through the summer B therapy and makes progress, Ryo stays where he was. At least it was my impression. When I thought he also made some steps to the beautiful new world, he just came up with another crazy but calculated nonsense (and got slapped by Ango for that, thanks Ango). In short, I have no warm feelings towards Ryo, but he’s needed for the plot to progress. Also, he says funny things sometimes. Funny in a dark way. He’s the author of my favourite 7 seeds joke ever (check page 18 for context). And I genuinely hope he’ll change and adapt to the new world with others’ help (M*****i, good luck!). But anyways, I was thankful to everyone who slapped him and Ango/tried to do so throughout the series (honorable mention of Ango, Arashi (he tried!) and Karita).I illustrated my fav scene with them both some time ago, by the way (after I heard the song Tamura chose for that chapter my life couldn’t be the same again).

Also, once we realized he had a long lost spiritual brother in Neko Mix Genkitan Toraji, his character got way more enjoyable to me xD Let me introduce the Devil Mouse to you. *Devilman no uta playing in distance*

Book Monthly #1 - Starting to talk about all the books I’ve been reading

Intermezzo first!

Hello! :D Finally, I've got time to refurbish this blog after a year with less than a dozen reblogs and—that's it. Let's see, uh ... I don't know where to start... Oh, I've been active in Tumblr since, what, around the 2010-ish? I remember I've been re-blogging a lot of posts, especially Arashi and Kpop, and revamping the look of my blog a few times by fiddling w / those free Tumblr themes (omg bless the people who made them). I've also published a few short stories and sketches, but I don't know how these hashtags work on this site, soo ... Well, guess what? The engagements were very, very low. Aye, it's all right. Nobody knows my blog, anyway:)). It's like Twitter, folks! Babbling about your life ... But it's with less audience. Wait, is this similar to mental health group therapy? But with no face-to-face interaction, and not every single one of them really does care? Whaaa---

Okay, so(!), I've been trying to read a few books in my spare time from the beginning of last year until now. Not much, but at least my second language, English, has improved quite a bit. However, my grammar is still worse *sobs*. You can see the list of books that I've finished reading in my Goodreads profile (<- sidebar links on your left). But don't be disappointed because it's not a lot, and they’re mostly comics (lol). Oh dear, I read comics almost every night before I sleep;;;;

The books that’s been on my mind for these three months are:

The Three-Body Problem by Lixin Ciu;

The Histories by Herodotus;

and that one book about Hellenistic Philosophy from Routledge.

But for now, let’s talk about The Three-Body Problem:

I really don't want to give so much spoilers in this post, but---God, I enjoyed The Three-Body Problem so much, exclamation marks five times. The revelation about the alien race that was planning to invade Earth was astounding. Especially the VR concept that was used as a medium to introduce Trisolaran history and culture. For a book released in 2008 and the story-setting was in the 70s or 80s(?), I guess it's kind of trend-breaking, imagining that hardware technology for VR games today doesn't go that far as in the book.

Um, his effort in interpolating each character's stories maybe not my cup of tea. Every paragraph was so complex, it's not sticking enough in my memory and I need to read the previous three pages to keep me informed. How he shaped the foundation of world-building in his books, such as the physics theories and all the science terms, made me, the ex-science student and now-BA in humanities, feel like a chore but still enjoyable. (Yeah, thank you for reminding me that I had Cs in physics and math in high school, good Sir.)

There's something I need to keep me going, to bait my curiosity in every chapter. However, that's not happening until, if I'm not wrong, in the first ten chapters? It's probably why I experienced a sense of... total surprise(!) when a particular character that I thought, 'Maybe their story is not that important? Should I skip this? Yeah let's skim it,' then ended up being a significant part of the story. Aaah-! I’m not a good reader, am I? 🙈 Okay, losing a little bit of details is manageable. Yes. That’s right. *sobs*

And, I've already been growing an attachment to this Wang Miao (the protagonist), but when I started to read the second book, I felt like the author was giving this character and the others as if they're all dispensable. Not all of them, but nearly all of them. And the second book didn't mention him at all, like how was it after the end of the first book? After all that commotion, did he have a peaceful life? Or do his descendants continue the legacy of protecting the Earth? (I'm still on page 70 LOL sry). But at least, one particular character continue to be his snob(?), confident self to guide another scientist to fight the aliens. (Yes, I’m a Da Shi’s fangirl :DD).

Nonetheless, I do recommend The Three-Body Problem if you want something a bit of realistic sci-fi. If you're bored with stories when an astronaut is stranded at a space station, or humans invade another planet looking for a second Earth, this might be a good reading for you. However, you're going to need a great persistence to finish this. Yes, let me cheer you up on this great journey. A new perspective is going to open for you!!! 🔥🔥🔥

Or you can wait for a series that is planning to be released on Netflix! Given that this story really needs great visual references (and the project announced this early September), I predicted it wouldn't be released for at least another two or three years. Yes, a fan can only hope for the best and not the flop.

By the way, you know who's in charge of writing the script? Do you remember the duo from GoT that made the whole internet cry out in protest for the bad final season? Am I being pessimistic about them being in charge of my favorite book? Should I go start a petition to change those gentlemen? I---

Ahhh thank you! I admit I don’t get as many headcanon requests as I do other things. I do have a few in my inbox though, but not many up because of my…. very slow pace…. im sorry….

I NEARLY HAD A HEART ATTACK!! IVE BEEN WORKING ON THIS FOR A WHILE, AND WHEN I WENT TO COPY IT, I ACCIDENTALLY DELETED THE WHOLE THING ,,, luckily i learned how to undo…. that doesn’t really matter to the request, but there’s a little story for you i guess ?

AH I didn’t realize until after I finished, but I made the pronouns gender neutral out of habit… It’s too late to fix now, so I hope you won’t mind? I’m sorry aaaa !! I hope you still enjoy these ;;;

Leo:

They’re constantly having to remind him about their past as an idol whenever he seems confused. He seems to always forget; but the moment he’s reminded, Leo is the proudest boy in the world! He’ll watch old videos of you, and usually uses it for inspiration. He likes to play dress up with you, too, asking you to wear various idol outfits. Pretty much anything that pops into his head! He’s unpredictable.

His s/o can sing? That’s it, he’s sold. He already gets most of his inspiration from them, but now he can compose songs that they could possibly sing? He’s!! So Excited!!

Leo specializes in improv dance, mostly because he has trouble remembering set choreography. Since that’s the case, he takes advantage of his s/o’s past as an idol. They end up having to teach him his own choreography over and over; usually with him running into them on accident, or start improving his own dance.

Sena:

They had already managed to make him fall for them, since they were already a couple; but once he was told about their old career, he felt… lots of emotions. Why didn’t they tell him before? He mostly seemed annoyed with them. But really, he was ready to die over how cute and amazing they are. Plus, he felt a new, strange connection with them. As he transferred out of modeling, he understood how they probably feel.

His love turned into almost an obsession, in a way. His room transformed to almost look like a shrine for them, covered in posters and pictures of them on stage. But he hangs the most recent pictures, of them as a producer, near his desk. He’s incredibly proud of them; not only for who they were, but who they are.

When he learned how popular they were, and still are, he got even more protective of them. If that was possible. He feels a need to accompany them whenever they go out.

Arashi:

Arashi knew that they used to be an idol without having to tell him- he recognized them when the two first met. Though he brushed it off at first, he eventually realized his suspicions were correct. So when they told him about their past as an idol, he wasn’t surprised.

He constantly worries about them- if something had prompted them to quit their work as an idol, wouldn’t being a producer bring back bad memories? How could a big sis not worry? Even if he’s assured that they enjoy work as a producer, he can’t help but be a little worried.

One of his favorite things to do is watching their old music videos. He always comments about how cute their outfit is, or how pleasant their voice is, or how well they perform the choreography.

If given permission, Arashi loves singing with them! Their voice is just as lovely as it used to be, and he loves getting to perform duets. Even if it’s only them two that can hear.

Ritsu:

Ritsu is pretty indifferent to it. He didn’t give them much a reaction when they first mentioned it. After all, what they used to do doesn’t really matter, as long as they’re happy now, right? Though he was a little curious about it. He ended up watching a few videos, and was pretty shocked by their talent and popularity. He saw how much your fans adored them- causing him to get insanely jealous. The way they smiled at the crowd, and sang for their fans. He’s honestly glad they quit being an idol. Now he can have them all to himself!

Occasionally, he’ll ask them to sing lullabies. Though he doesn’t particularly need it to sleep, he loves having an excuse to hear them sing. Especially while knowing the fact that their song is for him, and him alone.

For some reason, he felt even more intent on keeping them away from Rei. That brother of his used to be a fan. Ritsu makes sure to never let the two encounter. But when they’re not with him, Ritsu loves rubbing it in his face.

Suou:

When they first told him, he was in shock. They were an idol? that idol? He suddenly felt undeserving of them. He admitted to being a huge fan. And also feels pretty dumb for not noticing the resemblance.

After he gets over his embarrassment, and manages to accept, yes, this is his favorite idol, he constantly asks for lessons from them. He strives to become an idol worthy of being with them! Despite them constantly telling him he doesn’t need to earn his title of their boyfriend.

He digs up all his old videos and merch that he had collected during their popular years, rewatching all the videos, and displaying all the items in his room.

Suou would tell everyone, and I mean everyone, that he’s dating the famous idol! He loves to tell others about their skills, and the fact that they are in a relationship with him. That’s his favorite part- the fact that he gets to keep them all to himself.

Eichi:

Having a family that’s very big in entertainment, Eichi knew them before they even really knew each other. They probably saw him randomly around, too. But neither of the two really recognized each other. When they officially met, it was as idols. So he was surprised when they quit their work, and is always asking them questions about it.

He’s always glad to have such an experienced and knowledgeable person as a producer. It’s nice for him to know that he can rely on them. He always lets them know that he counts on them.

He loves to tease them over it; especially over suggestive themes. Whether it be the song, their outfit, or the dance, he’ll poke fun at them. But, to know about any of those, he had to have watched the videos with those… and how many loops of watching would it take to remember the exact lyrics and choreography?

Wataru:

This boy is always spontaneous and unpredictable, and it got even more… dangerous, I’ll say, once he was notified of their past fame. He’s always planning random things, usually without thelling them. It ranges from performing a magic trick on stage, during a live, and make them appear, to putting on unannounced concerts during breaks. He even enjoys dressing them up, as he does to Tomoya. (Tomoya shares a mutual understanding with them.)

As much as he flaunts their talent, he makes sure that they’re well aware that they need to be a capable producer still. Changing careers means changing careers- just because they were a popular idol doesn’t automatically make them an amazing producer! He’s always pushing them to work harder as a producer.

Of course he’s proud, though! But he’s mostly proud of how determined they are now, as a producer, compared to what they did before.

Tori:

Tori was also one of their fans! He’s always complaining to them- why did they quit? How dare they! He loved their singing! His fits usually end up with him sitting on their lap as they sing to him. He’ll get over it eventually. But that doesn’t mean they’ll get to stop singing for him.

He never shuts up about them. Literally every conversation he ever has with anyone, he manages to pop in a few (or more than a few) comments about how he’s dating one of the most popular idols around. Though some people are hapoy that he’s not bragging about himself as much, it got old quick. At least he’s talking about how amazing someone else is this time?

As much as he whines about practicing with Fine, when they’re overseeing the practice, suddenly he’s all fired up. He’ll always call out to them, make sure they’re watching. He gets pretty nervous at times, especially during lives. He reeeaaally wants to impress you…

Yuzuru:

He felt a new sense of comfort when he was informed of their past career. Before, he was worried that they saw him as someone better than themself. So hearing that they used to be an idol as well put those feelings to rest. He loves it this way. He thinks it’s perfect, and always tells them that. He couldn’t ask for a better person as his s/o.

Learning of their work as an idol made him feel slightly stupid, though- how did he not realize? They had so many traits that are generally sought after in idols, and mandatory when working as one. He’s so, so proud of them, though he tends to keep that to himself. He could tell that being an idol built their personality, and he admires their qualities.

Yuzuru can be pretty nervous at times, regarding their popularity. One of his worst fears is to have some fan of theirs finding them out in the public. Who knows what could happen? Though he’ll admit that not all fans are bad; unless you two are trying to be alone. Then he hopes that nobody, even the harmless fans recognize you.
