Robin can't find her jacket.
She felt naked without it. It was her armor. And one of the few pieces of clothing that didn’t yell “English Professor!” at the world. But most importantly, it was hers.
And she can’t find it.
She’s looked everywhere for it. Closet. Drawers. Eddie’s place. Steve’s place. Max’s room. Joyce’s diner. The Outback. It’s like it’s vanished in thin air.
The room is a mess, like a tornado came through and left all of her clothes in its wake. Robin knows she probably looks like a maniac searching for the thing, she can’t help it.
It’s at that exact moment when Nancy walks by, head craning to watch Robin’s manic state. “Robin? Is…everything okay?” Nancy asks, leaning against the doorframe.
Robin sits on her knees, running a hand through her hair. “Yeah, it’s just,” she pauses, the ridiculousness of it all now crashing down on her, “I can’t find my jacket,” she deflates.
Nancy’s face doesn’t change. She simply asks, “The blue one?”
Robin nods.
“Oh,” Nancy says, pushing off from the frame, “I have it.”
Relief washes like a wave over Robin. “You do?” She asks, before her brows knit together, “why?”
“Mhm, come with me.”
Robin gets up, letting Nancy lead her to what Robin can only assume is Nancy’s bedroom.
This is the first time she’s seeing it. She’s been living with Nancy and Max for the last month now, and it’s the first time she’s seeing Nancy’s room. Nancy’s seen her room dozens of times, (mostly because Robin’s door is always open) but Nancy’s more reserved than Robin is. This feels…more intimate somehow. A room is often a reflection of one’s mind, of their personality, so for Nancy to be showing her this…it feels like they might finally be friends.
(At least, Nancy might finally consider them friends. Robin has considered them friends since they got stuck in the Enchanted Forest, because who rips out a heart like that for someone you were supposed to hate? They shared stories around a campfire like they were fucking Girl Scouts desperate for a new merit badge. Nancy saved Robin in the Enchanted Forest. She considers that to be pretty high on the friendship ladder.)
Nancy walks through the door, Robin close behind, and straight to her closet. Robin takes a moment to observe the room. It’s so quintessentially Nancy that Robin has to flex her fingers, fighting the itch to reach out and touch things, committing them to memory and filing them away to the ‘Nancy’ folder in her brain.
Nancy pushes past her clothes, pulling the dry cleaning bag from her closet. Robin can see the familiar blue before Nancy’s got the bag fully out of the closet. Robin stares at her, dumbfounded. Nancy smiles sheepishly at her.
“After that last battle I noticed it got pretty banged up, so I had Max snatch it when you weren’t looking so I could get it cleaned properly. I know it means a lot to you and I didn’t mean to cause a panic like that it was just the least I could do…” She trails off, handing the jacket back to Robin.
Robin can’t wrap her head around it. One, Max is a traitor who snatches her jackets when she’s not looking. Two, does Nancy…care about her? Consider her a friend? This is a woman who, not even six months ago, was actively trying to make Robin’s life a living hell.
Robin pulls her in a tight hug, eliciting a small, “oof!” from the brunette. Nancy relaxes into the hug, and Robin tries not to think about how perfectly hug-sized Nancy is. “Thank you,” she whispers, squeezing one last time before letting go.
When Robin lets go, she ignores the way Nancy’s face glows a brighter shade of red, and stammers, “Oh—it’s…it’s nothing, you know. I just—“
It’s adorable.
Warmth blooms through her chest, waves of it washing over her. She smiles.
Nancy was a queen. An evil queen. And now she’s caring for Robin’s things and fumbling over her words and blushing and Robin wants nothing more than to just—
No. No, not here, not now. She will not ruin this, whatever it is they have going, because of her stupid feelings.

Evermore (Chapter 04)
( Masterlist || Ao3 Link )
Content Warnings: discussions of of grief/death, mentions of puppets, mentions of (assumed) dead parents, mentions of pregnancy.
Author's Note: These bitches gay! Good for them!
Beetle was curled up on top of the attic bed when Ruby found them.
After the funeral they’d gotten Emma to give them a lift back to her  parent's place (it’s where they’d chosen to hold the wake), and hadn’t moved since going upstairs and lying down.
(Everything had gone to custard. The thing with Ruby, and now their dad was dead? Life truly didn’t have it in them to give her a break, it seemed.)
Then, there was a quiet knock on the door.
‘Hey.’ Ruby said, quietly. ‘May I come in?’
‘Sure.’ Beetle mumbled, not rolling over.
Ruby wandered over and sat herself down in the space next to Beetle.
‘Don’t worry, I’m not here to say anything to you. I don’t think words are the right thing, and I’m sure you’ve heard everything everyone could possibly tell you a bajillion times over.’ Ruby said.
‘Yeah. You got that right,’ Beetle replied. ‘But, I don’t think bajillion is a real number, Red.’
‘Well, maybe it should be!’ Ruby laughed.
Beetle sat up then, now properly looking at her.
(She was so cute when she smiled.)
‘Ruby, what are you really here for?’ Beetle asked, after a beat. ‘What have you got to tell me?’
‘I--’ Ruby mumbled. ‘I think if you'd been there. I would have kissed you instead.’
‘Oh.’
‘Oh? That's all you have to say? Just, oh?’
‘Well, it's a lot…’ Beetle sighed. ‘I mean, don't get me wrong, it's really good to know that you do - in fact - like me back---’
‘Wait….back? What do you mean, back?’ Ruby said, interrupting Beetle.
‘Rain said that the kiss brought my feelings to the forefront. Perhaps, they'd always been there? Belle, isn't going to be a problem…my feelings for you were what was confusing me.' Beetle explained.
‘Okay, well, then we can take it slow?’ Ruby asked, after a beat.
‘Yes. I’d like that.’ Beetle confirmed, taking her hands.
(Gold's Antiques Shop)
Rain was leaning against the shop walls when Belle and Rumple got there.
(Sure, they could have picked the lock like August had taught them to, but they really couldn’t be bothered.)
‘What are you…?’ Belle asked, when she noticed them. ‘Why are you outside the shop?’
‘I’m here to arrange for Geppetto’s parents to be picked up by August. They’ve been gathering dust for a while, it’s the least I could do.’ Rain replied. ‘Would you please, let me in?’
The door to the shop then clicked open, and Belle and Rain followed behind Rumple. Abruptly they stopped, shocked, staring at the interior of the building.
It had been completely totalled.
‘What happened here?’ Belle questioned.
‘Hook. This is why he attacked you.’ Rumple stated, stepping through the debris to make his way towards the counter. Behind him Rain walked to the stand that had the dolls on it, and picked them both up.
‘Creepy little things, aren’t you?’ Rain muttered, then paused. ‘Uh, I’m sorry, if you can hear me -- as you’re sort of my in-laws….I suppose? But, we don’t want to get into that now.’
Rain then shoved them both quickly into their bag, and turned back to look at Belle and Rumple; only to see that they were now by the opened safe and smashed counter.
Suddenly, Rumple brought his cane down on the counter - throwing away a small model ship. The glass shattered, and fell to the floor with a loud crash. Besides Rumple, Belle flinched.
‘Rain,’ Belle asked, moving closer towards them. ‘Could you please walk me back to Emma’s?’
‘Of course I can.’ Rain replied.
‘Wait, Belle!’ Rumple called out, reaching down and pulling out a gun (of all things) from the drawer under the cabinet. ‘Before you go, could you please take this?’
Seeing this, Rain grabbed the gun from him before Belle could touch it, and checked to see if the safety was off.
‘Really?’ Rain said, handing Belle the bag with the dolls in it, so they could clip the gun onto their belt. ‘She doesn’t even know what a gun is!’
‘But-’ Rumple protested.
‘No!’ Rain stated fiercely. ‘I’m taking Belle and leaving before I cave and decide that I should shoot you with this.’
So, they took Belle’s hand and led her away from him. As the door closed behind them Rumple placed his head in his hands.
‘Bloody fairies.’ He groaned.
(Emma's House - Again)
Confident that Belle would be okay on her own upstairs, Rain plonked the dolls down on Emma’s counter (next to the salad and Archie’s memorial photo).
Emma’s house guests had gone now (after leaving various condolence cards for August and Beetle), so now it was just August, Beetle, Belle, Ruby, and Rain left.
‘What the hell are those things?’ Emma asked.
‘Archie’s parents.’ Rain replied, deadpan. ‘I was going to give them to August, but then I thought that might be one thing too many to pile on him today.’
‘Understandable.’ Emma laughed, awkwardly. ‘He’s over there, against the couch if you want to see him.’
‘Thank you, Emma.’ Rain said, with a soft smile.
(Storybrooke Docks)
‘Oh, I am so sorry.’ Rain sighed, when they realised where exactly they’d stopped. ‘I did not think this through at all, I just wanted to get us someplace quiet.’
‘No, I think it’s quite funny really.’ August laughed. ‘It almost seems appropriate. You, bringing me to the sea, where I died, on a day like today. Like fate can’t let us go.’
‘Fuck fate!’ Rain moaned.
‘I very much agree.’ August commiserated. ‘Now, what did you want to talk to me about?’
(For a moment, Rain considered mentioning their recent positive pregnancy test, but thought better of it.)
‘Putting it simply,’ Rain replied, swinging their arms up and down. ‘I thought you needed a break.’
‘I certainly did, today has been a lot. Most of them being on the not-particularly-good side of things.’ August said, taking Rain’s hand in his. ‘I’m glad you’re here.’
‘Yeah, I’m just sorry it took so long.’
++
Elsewhere Belle was reflecting on her (rather odd) day, as she walked along the docks searching for Hook's ship.
(So far she wasn’t having any luck.)
Behind her, in bug form, Beetle was following; ready to act as back up if Belle needed.
‘Where is it?’ She asked.
Then her attention was caught by the sound of creaking rope. Pausing in her tracks she looked around once more, and saw some seagulls fly into view and land on something invisible.
Belle then stepped backwards and opened the sandbox to her left, taking a handful and throwing it in front of her. This action revealed a set of stairs, presumably leading onto the ship.
‘Found you.’ Belle gasped, tentatively stepping up and onto the boat.
++
Reaching the end of the stairs Belle found herself in front of a wooden door, which she pushed open cautiously.
‘Hello?’ A muffled voice cried out.
‘Uh, hello?’ Belle asked.
Beetle took this moment to circle around the room, antennae twitching. Then, they transformed back with a flash of red light and pointed to the middle of the deck.
‘How do you know?’ Belle questioned.
‘Like August said to me the other day, I can feel the vibrations.’ Beetle replied. ‘I think whomever is in here is under the floorboards.’
‘Down here!’ The voice called out again.
‘Dad?’ Beetle muttered, reaching down and opening the covering.
Inside the space, tied up but very much alive, was Archie.
‘Oh, thank god!’ Archie celebrated.
‘Dad!’ Beetle gasped, suddenly overcome by a wave of relief. ‘You’re okay?’
‘Yes, I am.’ Archie said. ‘It’s good to see you both. Now, can you, uh,’
So, Belle took a nearby sword and cut his ropes with it. He then stood up and got out of the confined space, moving immediately towards Beetle and embracing them in a hug.
‘I’ve missed you so much.’ Archie gasped.
‘Go, find Rain.’ Belle ordered. ‘Tell them I’m here on the ship.’
‘What? You’re not going to come with me?’
Footsteps then sounded overhead, causing them to jump.
‘Go, go, go, there’s no time to argue.’
‘Dad, come on!’ Beetle said, taking hold of Archie’s arm. ‘I saw them sitting at the docks, they’re not far.’
++
By the time Beetle had made their way back to Hook’s ship with Rain (Archie had opted to stay behind with August for a proper reunion), Rumple had gotten there before them.
He was looking down at the prone body of a beaten and bloody Hook, while holding a small beige rag. Belle was standing over to his left; having not moved out of fear and the shock of seeing Rumple’s sudden violence.
‘Oh, and Beetle’s here too with their friend, how fun. Come to watch me suffer, have you?’ Hook cried out weakly, shifting his gaze to them. ‘You know, I saw your mother the other day.. I wonder what she’d think about all of this?’
At this remark Beetle reached into their pants pocket and pulled out a handgun, firing two shots into the mast above Hook’s head.
‘Don’t ever mention her to me again!’ Beetle yelled.
‘Was that really necessary?’ Rumple asked, voice steely as he turned to look at Beetle.
‘Yup.’ Beetle replied, grinning. ‘Now step away from this crime scene, or I’ll shoot you too.’
‘On what grounds?’
‘Well, there’s harassment and assault to start with..’ Rain stated, counting with their fingers before looking over to Belle. ‘Belle, do you have anything to add?’
Cautiously, Belle shook her head.
‘But what about him?’ Rumple questioned angrily. ‘Doesn’t he have to pay?’
‘Yeah, but we have to get him to a hospital first.’ Beetle replied. ‘Then we’ll think about it.’
(Later)
Emma had chosen to take Rumple to the holding cells after talking to the others about what had occurred. But, since there was no way in hell Emma would have also taken Hook in her car with Rumple, that task was left up to Rain. Which, unfortunately, led to several long hours of waiting and piles of hospital paperwork.
Now, however, they were seated in Granny’s diner alongside Archie, August and Ruby.
‘I am going to need so much therapy after this.’ Belle sighed, resting her head against Ruby’s shoulder.
‘Well, then it’s good my dad isn’t dead then, isn’t it?’ Beetle joked.
‘BEETLE!’ Rain groaned at the same time as Archie muttered ‘Really?’
‘Yeah.’ Beetle laughed. ‘You heard me, I went there.’
Rain just shook their head.
‘Good to see everyone happy again, isn’t it?’ August asked them quietly.
‘Yeah,’ Rain replied. ‘It is.’
(So why couldn't they shake the feeling that something was about to go wrong again?)
(The Outskirts Of Town)
‘Hey!’ A mechanic called out. ‘How can I help you?’
‘Just a cheap car check-up is fine.’ The man replied. ‘Now, tell me, where can I find Regina Mills?’

Random AU idea that’s been percolating slowly in my head, but loose Once Upon A Time AU?
Tumblr media
Basic idea is Lyta doesn’t give up on trying to get Daniel back at the end of Sandman, but goes even further hardcore and breaks into the garden of Destiny and straight up takes him on and thru some sort of magic + heartbroken madness+ righteous fury takes his book and rewrites her story to get Daniel back.
But beyond that Lyta wants all these beings that hold themselves so high to know the true pain their actions can inflict on mortals, and uses the books power to flips all the Endless out into the world as Humans with no memory of their past lives—and brings Morpheus back with them.
And now they’re all living miserable lives that have some sort of link to their function but in a way that makes them miserable but they can’t seem to break away from (like, Death is a doctor but always seems to lose the patients she gets close too? Desire is out there being ignored and never wanted by anyone and is separated from Despair, ect. Sorry it’s been a crappy couple weeks so my brain is shot for ideas on this exact part 😅)
There is one hiccup in this—Daniel, back to being a little boy, still has a connection to the Dreaming, and manages one night to bring the book The Sandman back with him from the Library. It’s not the full book, he doesn’t know his and Morpheus’s canon fates but between the book and his odd dreams he knows something has gone wrong with reality and the Endless and that he needs to find the Dream King and put things right with the world.
So he manages to find Morpheus and now has to convince him he’s the Dream King and his estranged siblings are the Endless and they have to find their sigils that have been scattered in the Real World to fix things.
Neither of them realize at first what putting things back to how they were will mean for them both, but eventually they do and are faced with the dilemma of fixing the world meaning Morpheus dying and Daniel losing his individuality/family (Lyta is not evil btw just really really scared to lose her kid and desperate to stop this Murphy guy who seems to be threatening her life) and trying to find a way to fix things without ending it the same way.
And Hob’s here somewhere too but I’m not sure which part I’d want him to take? Maybe he’s the Charming stand in to Dream’s combined Snow White role and he’s in a coma cuz he was dreaming of Morpheus when Lyta rewrote reality and it scrambled his brain? So he’s kicking around in the Dreaming trying to fix th8ngs from that side too/keep the kingdom from crumbling again?
(Destruction is probably also out there still as himself and can still remember the old reality)
((Tempted to have the Corinthian in a Hook-ish role and have it be a Hobrintheus AU))
Honestly this whole thing happened due to listening to this fan song while thinking about Sandman and it all scrambled in my head and poof xD
youtube
For reference to how the song AMV’d into my head: Daniel =Emma’s part, Hob and Dream = Snow and Charming’s part, Lyta= Regina’s part, Corinthian =Hook part and really don’t have a Rumplestiltskin part😅 Loki maybe? Oh! Maybe he as vengeance for Dream sending the Corinthian after him tells Lyta how to screw with Destiny’s book? With her not realizing he was the one who even stole Daniel in the first place oooh I like that it makes Corinthian as Hook work even better yeah!
(If anyone wants to do anything with this please feel free !)

These hands to let it go free and this love came back to me / OUAT FanFic AU ⚔️
Tumblr media
Pairing: Charming!Nikolai & Snow!Amelia
Tumblr media
Summary: What happens when your brother crashes your wedding with an unexpected gift that made you question your love and worth? A curse.
Characters mentioned : Ben Barnes as The Dark Prince, Liane, Cole, Ethan, Cassandra, Jeremy, Cherik and etc
Note: There was a time when the couple was on the run hiding from the royal forces, going as Nicholas & Amara
—-
The wedding bells were ringing in the heavenly lit castle with guests from all over cheering as the couple dressed in whites and browns smiled being newly announced as husband and wife.
Snow in her pure feather dress with red edges to give it an accent as Charming was dressed in browns and blacks, his captain hat styled with a deep green feather attached to the inside.
Just then, the doors banged open and in swung the dark prince of crime, a king of shadows you can say holding up a playful fireball as he giggled. The crowd gasped, some yelled and others knights raced in protection as the prince with a flick of his wrist threw the guards back then glared at the couple.
Tumblr media
“How cute. Didn’t think of inviting your brother to the wedding?” Yelled the dark prince of crime.
Charming held his wife closed and pointed his sword as he spat, “Get out!”
“Relax, brother. I’m here to offer you a gift for your precious little wedding and you’ll like it.”
“I don’t want it! Get out, Alexander. Your not king anyone, only a mere prince.”
“Oh hush, you never let me finish. Here’s my gift, this whole day will be a peaceful one, I’ll even give you the week. But starting Sunday at the tip of midnight, I will destroy your happiness, if it’s the last thing I do.”
Charming ordered the guards to get up and lock the castle, as he threw shadow sword straight at his brother, in a cloud of smoke older man disappeared. But he left with a cut on his right arm as the shallow sword dropped.
———
Weeks—months past as Charming and Snow, also known as Nicholas and Amara when on the run, have gotten that news with their friends and found family. As they tried to all search for the prince, regroup and find a way to stop whatever cursed plan that is coming their way.
Nikolai was searching one night, stressing about it in the king’s office of their castle as he spoke with Marlene and Melissa about it. Princess Liane, sat down trying to figure out how it can play out.
His wife stole him for a moment, telling everyone else to rest as she stood in the castle’s kitchen making him a sandwich as he sat down listening to her words. He adored that she was always supportive and there to ease his emotions with a couple of smoothing words, even when he felt he had the entire weight of world on his shoulder.
She placed the sandwich on the table telling him to eat as she listened to his worries and rubbed his shoulders, pressing a kiss to his cheek.
“My heart, you’re in need to sleep and regroup later. You’ve been practicing your sword fighting all week and if not, you’re scouting with Marlene..” She said with a sigh, “He’s just trying to get into your head.”
“He’s not. He once held me captive in his chambers underneath the castle because he thought I was a better sword man than him. Poison me with a stupid apple and gave you a sleeping a curse..” He replied taking a bite out of the sandwich humming.
“If he hasn’t inactive since the wedding, he won’t be now. He’s petty and narrating a path that will lead him to more hate towards you. He wants to get in your head and not feel worthy of your title.”
“Am i worthy of this?”
“You married a farm girl, who was thrust into a world of royalty. You showed me and others kindness despite all you faced, so yes. Your worthy. And our child will see that to be true.”
He pressed a hand to her belly and rubbed small circles at catch their little prince or princess attention. He whispered a few sweet nothings to her belly and smiled getting a small kick in return.
Then he thought of something and smirked, “Your child. I want to ensure their safety if it’s the last thing I do..and will have to ask Cassandra to do so.”
She gave him a confused look with slight fear, “I-is that asking of too much? What if she says something that isn’t true?”
“It will be. We can resting knowing they will be alright, protecting them from my brother and his dark plans will be worth it. She can see the future!”
“If she says I’m twins I’m gonna be freak out.”
With that he laughed and pressed a kiss to her cheek. He always planned on day having at least 3 children with her, especially knowing that she will be an amazing mother.
Within 48, Cassandra they arrived at the castle after guarding her flowers and spells to tell them all the truth behind the plans. Her eyes turned white and held up a finger with a odd look on her face.
Tumblr media
She sat at the round table and spoke softly, “..The dark prince is casting a curse to spend us all to a land without magic, helpful dreams will never arrive. It will take over as much land as possible. He is teaming up with..the prince of mischief and Shaw to help with his spell.”
Those words caught Erik and Charles attention, as they sat the round table with their children Cole, Meira and Ethan. Erik grunted and looked at his husband who sighed already thinking of what can be done to protect their young.
Liane sighed looking at Ethan and then Nikolai, as she heard Cassandra speak softly what she can see. 3 villains all in one go, but the main one was Alexander who caused the grand curse as to destroy everyone at play. She wanted to protect her soon niece or nephew from all of this just as much as the parents did, hell she wanted to protect her found family along with herself. Alongside her crush, that was Ethan.
Cassandra opened her eyes as if her flashes were over as she said, “I didn’t see much but we all don’t survive this smoking dark curse. But we can save ourselves once it’s hit.”
Nikolai groaned pinching the bridge of his nose as he shared a look with Cole, and asked, “How? My child is a stake here, Cass! My brother will be..”
“Relax! We can send a few into the curse with knowledge of it all.”
“I’m not risking that. Erik come on, our friends likes are at stake and we only half will know.”
Erik sighed and grunted, “You think I like this? I don’t. But if we can go with Cassandra’s plan find a safe spot and do a few thing, it will work.”
Cole scoffed, “Yeah, sure dad, with what?”
“The Enchanted Forest is filled with trees of all kind, if we crave one with elements of magical escape, we can send all of that.”
Liane asked, “You can’t be serious. What? Are we gonna make a wardrobe out of a tree?”
“She’s onto something. Yes that can work! Melissa can help carve it.” Ethan added as Meira nodding knowing where to find such tree.
Cole and her disappeared in a cloud of smoke with Erik to go search for it with a second to spear. Amelia was quiet the entire meeting, rubbing her husband arm as she leaned into her chair. Liane noticed wondering what exactly she is thinking as she noticing her friend look at her husband with worry. Melissa share a look with the other girls.
“Mia relax. It’s gonna be fine..” Liane spoke, fixing her tiara with a smile, “I heard stress is bad for the baby.”
She sighed, “I have not given up hope..but who will go through the wardrobe is my worry..”
“Depends on the magic it can hold. My heard my father say it sometimes take up to 3 people or more..”
Nikolai looked down at his wife and kissed her cheek, “I got everything under control. And if we can’t find one, we will still find each other.”
“And your brother? Honey, you got bags under your eyes..we all do.” She asked with so much concern for him and their friends.
“If he shows up, I’ll let him know that he will have to wish he never enacted the curse in the first place.”
“Cole will try to kill him along with you…”
————
3 trees were found, as Melissa and Cole’s husband Jeremy carved it in the at the man’s workshop. Jeremy was a pirate first, builder second as he grinned.
The idea that wardrobe might protect memories and because children are most likely to believe in fairytales, they will remember once the reach the land. The adults might not remember every single thing, or so they think.
Rick, Roch and Luna planned on bringing their kids into one.
Bruce and Natasha suggest it would be for the best. Everyone single of them had their own plans and businesses to take care of that they kept a secret from each other.
Cole being the wiser one of the crew, knew if he didn’t make it into any wardrobe he would remember and know everything, by hearing the sound of any one of the kids names he will snap out of the trance and enact his murder to Alexander. He may not like Nikolai too much but Amelia was like a sister to him.
Tumblr media
Beside that, Cole and Alexander had their own problems together in the past before he even knew that he was Nikolai’s older brother.
Suddenly the curse hit as cloud of smoke started to wash over the land as the crew started to fight for their lives, bringing any children to safety to the crafted wardrobes. At one of the castles, knights were coming as Erik was fighting them off with Ethan as he out of his own reasons, pushed his son into one of wardrobes closing it knocking him out cold.
Let’s just say Ethan arrived to the real world due to being knocked out cold without as many memories of his past near the woods of a city. It was rather fuzzy for him but he was fine, going on his merry way. Creating a bit of trouble that will come to bit in him the ass later on, in the future being a daughter named Belladonna.
The kids however arrived at the real world as well but somewhere else as the curse it them, waking up in their beds within a town. Where their parents there with them of course, but given cursed memories of not being fairytale characters.
———
Meanwhile in the Enchanted Forest, as the curse was slowly washing over the woods into the rest of the land, Amelia was panicking a bit more than she thought she would. Not as much as Nikolai, who was preparing himself for a possible war with Cole, if any arm came to anyone in the castle.
Amelia placed a hand over the belly, looking at the small bassinet nearby that was meant to their son. She looked over at her husband, not feeling like a princess but a little farm girl in worry as she said, “I’m ready to leave you..”
Nikolai placed his sword on the table and cupped her face, “You won’t be alone, my brother will pay for this.”
She sighed, “I know he will. But Cass and Cole predicted we will see everyone again on his 18 birthday..the closest thing is 16th. He will need his father.”
“And he will, tell him tales about me. How I slayed a dragon on my first try or how I became my time sailing a ship with Captain Hook.”
“You are so confident in this whole thing aren’t you?”
“I have courage and compassion, I learned that from you. Mainly, i have my wit, my charm and my powers..”
He about to say something else when he sensed a pressure in the air, then sudden his wife gripped his hand tightly muttering that they had bigger things to deal with it.
They were about to have a small surprise.
A few short moments later, Amelia was on the bed screaming in pain and cursing out how she can’t have the baby now. Nikolai held her hand trying to hush his wife’s worries, yelling for the doctor to do something.
The whole castle was abuzz with chaos. Liane fighting against the evil guards outside, Marlene flying about trying to give her wife time with any additional stuff to the wardrobe. Cole was on the rooftop of the castle with a murderous glare as Alexander and his curse reached closer than ever, trying any protective shield.
That was when Jeremy raced into the bedroom, with sword in hand telling Nikolai that the final wardrobe was ready, about to help get his friends to the nursery. Nikolai about to carry his wife and move her out to the wardrobe when the doctor told him to not take any chances, as their son was about to be born now.
Alexander reached to castle with his guards surrounding the place on the rooftop fighting Cole as Nikolai’s chuckled softly at his son being born and placed into his wife’s arms.
The curse is here, they basically failed. He was leaning towards the two pressing a gentle hand on his head hushing his cries as Amelia smiled with tears in her eyes humming a tone.
He was so small yet so beautiful, wiggling and whispering a little as his cries calmed down.
“Hey Joshua..our little love..” Amelia whispered smiling.
Nikolai used the back of his finger rubbing his child’s cheek and smiled, “..welcome to world, you couldn’t wait a few more hours could you sweetheart?”
“We failed..that’s okay..”
“But at least we’re together.”
Amelia paused for a moment and sighed wishing her husband’s strong wit and clever beliefs didn’t rub off on her but it did. She looked at him and said, “Go fight your brother..”
“What?” Nikolai said, holding his son in arms now fixing his baby blanket to keep him warm.
“..take him to the wardrobe with Jeremy and go help Cole..”
“No. Darling, no I can’t leave you like this right now. And not our son!“
“You said it yourself! We need to have courage and believe we will be okay, he will come back to us. It’s a risk, I know…”
“But we have to take it. We have to give him his best chance no matter what it takes. I hate it when I’m right.”
She pressed a kiss to her son’s forehead, telling Joshua to be a trooper for his daddy as Nikolai smiled softly hearing her, kissed his wife quickly grabbing his sword and rushed out. He joined Jeremy in the hallway who was fighting his brother’s knights and raced down the hall, defeating them to fight more keeping Joshua relaxed in his arms.
Jeremy lead the way to the nursery, as he rushed off to kill some guards that were coming to Amelia’s room to find Melissa trying to wake their friend up but she was knocked out cold.
Nikolai raced into the nursery, stabbing a knight and dropped his sword to create a shadow to knock a few other guardsmen out cold, hell he made sure they were dead.
With a flick of his wrist, he flung open the wardrobe’s doors and placed his son inside safety pressing a kiss to his forehead telling him to have courage and find them soon as he closed the doors.
Just as he did, in a cloud of green and black smoke appeared Alexander and Cole neck and neck trying to kill one another. Nikolai stood up with a shadowy smile and glared blasting his brother to a wall, as Cole pinned the man to the wall shouting at him.
Two verse one, as the 3 of them fought and as the smoking clouds from the curse becoming a storm, that rip off the top of the ceiling as Nikolai gasped pinning his brother to the ground holding up a shadow in his a hand.
Cole was behind him, trying to block the storm and yelled, “Where are we going?”
“Somewhere horrible.” Alexander said smiling with a glare.
“No shit dipshit.”
“In a few moments you won’t remember you were fighting me.”
“Very specific.”
Nikolai with a last minute stitch to leave a mark, pulling his sword in front of him and cut his brother in the same place he did months ago during his wedding day. A way for his brother to remember, that matter what happens he will never fully destroy his spirt. Alexander shouted in pain and pushed his brother away, causing him to storm back then attack Cole with a blast.
That was when cloudy spoke louder, engulfed the whole castle sending everyone to a town called Fighter-town, Maine.

Note
do you have any headcannons on mentally illness, disability or neurodivergency for ouat?
This isn't quite what you're looking for, but @kingofbr00klyn and @silver-the-phoenix and I have this au/possible headcanon that whenever someone dies but comes back, they often return with ptsd related to the way that they died. Some examples:
In S1:Ep1, Charming effectively died from a stab wound while putting Emma in the wardrobe. Now, whenever he's holding a baby, especially in that arm, he gets flashbacks
In S3:Ep11, Gold dies by stabbing himself and Peter Pan, and He gave Peter Pan a hug to do so. Hugs are no longer a comfort to him.
In S4:Ep22, Killian is snuck up on and stabbed in the back. People sneaking up behind him startles him a lot more than is warranted.
In S5:Ep8, Killian is given a would-be-fatal slash to the neck with a sword. He's now very sensitive about his neck- he won't wear a scarf or a turtleneck or a tight necked shirt (not that he had a habit of wearing shirts with a close-fitting neckline 😉) He also can not wear a seatbelt with a shoulder strap, because it makes him feel like he's gonna die again.
Feel free to add on some of your own!

The Pirate and His Conjurer (OUAT AU!)
Tumblr media
Pairing: Rumpel! Cole x CaptainHook! Jeremy
Fandom: Marvel, OUAT
Warnings: none
Summary: A treacherous trickster turns mutineer and seizes control of a pirate ship, but finds himself longing for the captain's affections.
Cole struggled against his bindings as the pirate crew hauled him aboard their massive vessel. Their raid must have gone south if they were taking prisoners, but little did they know he was more than just a simple trickster. As he was shoved unceremoniously onto the deck, Cole took in his surroundings, filing away any details that could later prove useful in a daring escape.
That's when he saw him. The pirate captain was bellowed orders at his men while scrutinizing the captured ship in the distance through a spyglass. Even from behind, Cole could sense the power and swagger oozing off the man. Then he turned, and Cole found himself drowning in a sea of piercing blue eyes.
This must be the infamous Captain Hook he'd heard tales about in taverns and ports - as daring as he was deadly handsome. Not that Cole would ever admit to being distracted by a pretty face, of course. As Jeremy stormed over, Cole schooled his features into an amused smirk.
"Well hello, Captain. I do apologize for crashing your little party uninvited," Cole purred, giving the ropes binding his wrists an exaggerated yank.
Jeremy's stoic expression didn't waver, but Cole saw a flicker of interest in those eyes. "Who are you and what are you doing sneaking around my raid?" he demanded.
Cole mulled over concocting a lie but then decided the truth may serve him better, for now. "Names Cole. I'm just a simple merchant traveling these waters when I happened upon your...activities. Isn't pillaging what pirates do best?"
Jeremy snorted. "Nothing simple about you, I'd wager. Men, take him below deck until I decide what to do with our stowaway."
The crew hauled Cole towards the hatch but not before he shot the captain a wicked grin. "I do hope we'll continue our charming conversation later, Captain. I so enjoy learning more about ambitious pirates like yourself..."
His taunt earned him a glare from Jeremy that sent a thrill through Cole's gut. Oh this was going to be fun indeed.
Tumblr media
The pirate crew tossed Cole unceremoniously into the hold below deck. But he landed lightly on his feet, already scheming his next move. He paced around the confined space, running his fingers along the damp wooden walls inspecting for any weaknesses.
After what seemed like an eternity of waiting, Cole heard footsteps approaching in the hall outside, followed by the creak of hinges as the door swung open. Backlit by lantern light, the silhouette that filled the doorway could only belong to one man.
"Cozy quarters you have here, Captain," Cole greeted Jeremy with a sly grin. "And to what do I owe the pleasure of your company?"
Jeremy snorted. "Don't flatter yourself, trickster. I merely came to see what manner of man has the gall to stowaway aboard my ship uninvited."
He studied Cole intently, as if trying to peel back the layers of mystery shrouding the stranger. Cole met his gaze unwaveringly, enjoying their tempestuous rapport.
"See anything you like?" Cole purred, giving a little spin to put himself on display.
Jeremy's stoic expression cracked ever so slightly, a glint of grudging amusement in his eyes. "You're a tricky one, I'll give you that. But it'll take more than smiles and pretty words to earn my trust. Why have you really come aboard my vessel?"
Cole circled closer, lowering his voice to an intimate murmur. "Let's just say I'm...invested in ensuring your latest raid goes according to plan, Captain. I may surprise you yet with how I can...assist you."
He traced a finger slowly along Jeremy's lapel, feeling the pirate captain's resolve wavering under his brazen touch. Their lips were mere inches apart now, tension crackling in the heated atmosphere.
Then Jeremy blinked and the trance was broken. He grabbed Cole's wandering hand sternly. "We'll see about that. For now, stay put like a good little stowaway until I return."
And with that final warning, he took his leave, leaving Cole alone with naught but fantasies to entertain himself. Things were certainly becoming more...interesting indeed.
Tumblr media
Days passed as The Jolly Roger sailed onward through misty waters, its captain keeping Cole locked away below deck all the while. The trickster grew bored of his confined quarters, pacing like a caged animal and imagining all the mischief he could wreak if given free rein of the ship.
Late one night, Cole heard a commotion erupting on deck - shouts and clanging steel. An ambush? He strained his ears but the thick oak door muffled the sounds of battle. Then suddenly, footsteps pounded down the stairs and the lock scraped open with a gritty shriek.
Cole tensed, ready to pounce on his potential rescuer or assailant. But it was the captain himself, breathing hard and bloodied but triumphant. "We're under attack. If you've any magic up your sleeve, now's the time to prove your worth, trickster."
Cole smirked. "It's about time. Lead the way, Captain."
He followed Jeremy topside to chaos - another pirate vessel grappling with The Jolly Roger, boarders attempting to overtake the deck. Cole watched Jeremy cut down two men with fluid strikes of his namesake steel hook before joining the fray himself.
With a flick of his wrist, Cole sent two swordsmen tumbling overboard with spectral claws at their throats. He whirled, catching another across the jaw with a spinning kick before finishing him with a fireball. Jeremy stared, equal parts impressed and wary of Cole's prowess.
Together, they fought back to back, an unstoppable force. Cole's magic gave the pirates fits while Jeremy rallied his men with rousing cries. Slowly but surely, they gained the upper hand, clearing the deck of all invaders at last.
Panting amidst the carnage, Cole turned to Jeremy with a bloodthirsty grin. "Well Captain, it seems you have an...asset aboard after all. Do with me what you will now."
Jeremy eyed the trickster, his hatred for magic warring with newfound respect kindled in battle. "You've earned your keep for now. But don't think this changes anything between us, trickster."
Cole's smile only widened as he bowed low, dripping with insincere obedience. "As you command...Captain." Their tempestuous dance was only beginning.
In the aftermath of the battle, Jeremy retreated to his private quarters to tend his wounds. But he hadn't accounted for a certain trickster also seeking him out below deck.
Without bothering to knock, Cole swept inside and locked the door behind him. "Let me help with those injuries, Captain."
Jeremy glared, in no mood for games after the fray. "I don't need your magic, trickster."
"Hush now." Cole swatted away Jeremy's protests and set to work, gently cleaning and dressing the gashes with surprising care.
Jeremy watched him suspiciously but didn't pull away, captivated as always by Cole's mercurial nature. The trickster's touch sent sparks jolting through his veins, reawakening feelings best left dormant.
Cole sensed the shift and glanced up through thick lashes, smiling slyly at the pirate captain's turmoil. "You continue to intrigue me, Jeremy. Such a stalwart adversary one moment, vulnerable as any man the next. It's...fascinating."
His hand lingered at Jeremy's rugged jaw, thumb brushing softly over stubble. For a suspended heartbeat they wavered on the precipice, thirst and reason warring within.
Then Jeremy moved, closing the space between them in a crushing kiss that stole Cole's breath away. All the tension and passion they'd kept caged sprang forth in a wild torrent, clothes hastily discarded in their fervor.
After, they lay entwined, coming down from their high amidst the wreckage around them. Jeremy felt unmoored by the trickster once more, but for the first time allowed a glimmer of something bright and perilous to take root in his guarded heart.
Cole curled against him, sated and silent in the aftermath, though scheming as always. He'd gotten exactly what he wanted from the pirate captain at last.
Aboard The Jolly Roger, rumors had begun to spread about the pirate captain and the mysterious trickster now also claiming the ship as his own domain. The crew gossiped in hushed tones about the marks they'd spotted on Jeremy's neck, or the smug smiles Cole couldn't contain.
Jeremy's first mate was the first to confront him. "With respect captain, some of the men are startin' to doubt who's really in charge around here. That magic trickster has got you under his spell, if you'll pardon me sayin'."
Jeremy glowered, unwilling to show weakness. "Cole is...an asset. And what goes on between us is none of your concern. This is still my ship."
But deep down, even he questioned how long he could keep up the charade - or resist the lure of the chaos Cole represented. Their games had grown more private and intimate lately, as the trickster planted seeds of rebellion in the captain's mind.
That night, Jeremy sought Cole out in his quarters aboard the hold once more. "Your little games have gone on long enough. The crew questions my command. Give me one good reason why I shouldn't cast you out."
Cole grinned like the cat who got the canary. "Because without me, this ship would be utterly boring, darling. Admit it - you've grown...accustomed to my peculiar brand of entertainment."
He waved a hand, conjuring dancing lights that swooped through the dank air. "With me at your side, you could accomplish so much more than merely pillaging vessels. We could plunder entire kingdoms...together."
Jeremy couldn't deny the appeal of unrestrained anarchy. And really, why should he continue to deny himself what - who - he wanted? With a growl, he pulled Cole in for a bruising kiss.
"Very well, trickster. We do it your way. But the first sign of treachery, and you walk the plank. Do I make myself clear?"
Cole chuckled darkly against Jeremy's lips. "Perfectly clear, captain. You won't regret this, I promise."
A wicked idea took form in his devious mind. He would need to fully cement his control, to stamp out any lingering doubts about where Jeremy's true loyalties lay.
The next morning, Cole summoned the crew to the main deck with a loud cracking of magic. When they arrived bleary-eyed, they found Jeremy bound to the mast, struggling in vain against the enchanted ropes.
Tumblr media
"What's the meaning of this, Cole?!" Jeremy roared.
Cole smiled innocently. "Why, I'm merely taking the initiative, darling captain. We had an agreement to do things my way from now on, if you recall." He turned to the anxious onlookers.
"Your captain has grown soft, led astray by weakness and sentiment. But I aim to bring back the chaos and terror you pirates thrive upon! Who's with me?"
An uncertain murmur rippled through the men until Jeremy's first mate thrust forward, glaring daggers. "We don't take orders from scoundrels like you. Now release the captain before..."
"Before what? You'll mutiny?" Cole cackled. With a wave of his hand he flung the first mate overboard, ignoring Jeremy's howl of fury.
"Any other dissenters?" Silence met him, the crew cowed into submission. Cole snapped his fingers, freeing Jeremy.
"The ship is ours, my darling. Now, where shall our reign of anarchy begin?"
Jeremy surged forward the moment the ropes fell away, grabbing a fistful of Cole's shirt with a snarl.
"You've gone too far this time, trickster," he spat, blue eyes blazing. Cole merely smiled wider, thriving off Jeremy's rage.
"Come now, it was all part of the plan!" Cole cooed, untroubled by the pirate's wrath. "We stand united before the crew as their unquestioned leaders. All according to your wishes, dear captain."
Jeremy gave Cole a rough shake. "I never wanted a mutiny against my own men! He was loyal, and you cast him aside without care."
Cole's smile faded as irritation seeped in. "Loyal to you, perhaps, but not to our cause. Some sacrifice was required to cement my authority."
"Your authority?" Jeremy laughed harshly. "This was never about ruling together, was it? You planned to usurp me from the start, trickster."
He shoved Cole away in disgust. The crew watched warily, unsure who to side with in this volatile power struggle.
Cole's eyes darkened. "Need I remind you which one of us holds real power here, captain? I gave you a gift in letting you keep your petty title, but don't delude yourself into thinking you still command anything."
Jeremy went still, expression shuttering. When he spoke, his voice held a deadly calm. "We'll see about that. Men! This mongrel thinks to steal our ship. I say it's past time he walked the plank."
Tumblr media
Cole grinned darkly, fear melting into sinister mirth as the crew closed in on him. How cute they thought a few pirates in shirtsleeves posed any threat.
With a lazy flick of his wrist, inky shadows materialized on the deck, rising into hulking forms twice the size of a man. The shadow creatures hesitated, awaiting their master's command.
"Gentlemen, I'd advise against coming any closer," Cole purred. His eyes shone with malice as he scrutinized the crew one by one.
"You there - with the gaudy earring. Let's start with you." The shadow creature lurched towards its target, seizing the man effortlessly despite his struggling.
"Please, have mercy!" he begged. Cole cocked his head, feigning consideration. Then with a scowl, he snapped his fingers. The shadow's claws dug deeper, wrenching a howl from its prey as his leg twisted at an unnatural angle.
Cole surveyed the crew's horrified faces, relishing their dread. "Let that be a lesson. Any other volunteers to cross me?” His shadows growled in warning, hovering protectively by their master's sides.
Jeremy could only watch helplessly, powerless against Cole's sorcery for the first time. Their game had taken a vicious new turn, and innocent blood now stained the conjurer's hands.
The trickster was unmasked at last - a heartless monster lurking beneath the charm. Jeremy vowed then and there he would destroy Cole, or die trying to reclaim what was rightfully his.
With Jeremy and the crew cowed into obedience, Cole had all but officially claimed The Jolly Roger as his domain. Yet despite attaining the power and fear he so craved, a festering seed of doubt lingered in his heart.
Whenever icy blue eyes met his from across the quarterdeck, full of loathing and resentment, Cole felt a pang deep in his core that unsettled him. He told himself it was mere wounded pride at Jeremy's insolence in the face of his defeat.
But in solitary moments, when no mask or bravado could deceive even himself, Cole was forced to confront an alien emotion that left him hollow and aching. He missed their games and wordplay, the thrill of anticipation whenever Jeremy would indulge one of his schemes.
All he'd wanted was control and adulation as his due. So why did subjugating the captain leave him feeling so unmoored and fragile inside? Nights were the worst, an eternity of loneliness in his chamber as strange memories drifted through his mind.
Laughter echoing through shadows. The glint of sunset on steel. A calloused hand brushing his cheek, as blue eyes looked upon him not with hatred, but...something else. Cole clutched his head, cursing his sudden fits of weakness.
What was happening to him? How could one man undo him so completely without even trying? Cole knew then he had to find some way to win back what he'd lost, and understand the bitter yearning that now ruled his every waking thought. Even if it meant unraveling the tricky game they'd played from the very beginning.
Cole paced his dimly lit cabin like a caged animal, gnawing resentment and confusion warring within. He needed answers, and there was only one person who could provide them.
With a snap of magic, Cole transported himself to the captain's quarters in a swirl of shadows. Jeremy shot up from his cot, instantly on guard at the intrusion.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"What do you want, trickster?" he spat, calloused hand flying to the dagger at his hip. But Cole held up his hands in a gesture of peace, much to the pirate's surprise.
"I come without threats or charm for once, captain," Cole said slowly. "I merely wished to...understand."
Jeremy barked a harsh laugh. "Understand what? That you've ruined any chance of loyalty or trust with your manipulation and blood magic?"
Cole flinched, the blows landing deeper than any dagger ever could. Still, he met Jeremy's hateful gaze steadily.
"Why do I care what you think of me?" he demanded softly. "Your hatred should be of no consequence. Yet...it tears at me in a way I don't comprehend."
Jeremy studied him suspiciously, seeing the rawness lurking beneath Cole's guarded veneer. For a long moment they simply breathed the same air, waves of emotion rocking between them.
Then Jeremy sighed wearily and gestured to the bed. "Sit. It seems we have much left to discuss, trickster, and daylight will reveal truths the dark obscures."
Cole went without question, hope and uncertainty stirring anew in his turbulent heart. He perched cautiously on the edge of the captain's narrow bed, feeling strangely vulnerable under Jeremy's steady gaze. A multitude of thoughts and feelings swirled within, just below the surface, clamoring to be freed.
"When first we met, I thought this was merely another game to amuse myself," Cole began hesitantly. "But somewhere along the way...something changed within me that I don't comprehend. Your hatred cuts deeper than any blade ever could."
He lifted remorseful eyes to Jeremy's stony face. "I only wanted power, yet subduing you has brought me no joy. Each rejection chips away at something vital I didn't know I had until now. I must understand - why do you haunt me so?"
Jeremy studied the trickster keenly, seeing past the mask of pride to glimpses of raw humanity seldom revealed. Yet still doubts lingered, walls erected through betrayal that could not fall so easily.
"You toyed with my crew, wounded men under my care," Jeremy rumbled. "Give me one reason I should trust your aim is true understanding, and not more manipulation."
Cole extended empty hands, pleading. "You have every right to loathe me, captain, yet I am at your mercy. Use me as you see fit to find the answers we both seek. I vow no magic or deception - only the truth, as best I can offer it."
A tense silence passed as hope and skepticism warred in Jeremy's gaze. At last he nodded once. "Very well, trickster. Let our talk begin."
Cole let out a quiet breath he didn't realize he'd been holding. Now came the difficult part - opening himself up with raw sincerity, something deeply uncomfortable for one used to masking vulnerabilities.
"For so long it was just me against the world, relying only on my wits and magic to survive each day," he began. "I witnessed humanity at its worst - the greed, cruelty, indifference. It was easier to view others as playthings rather than fellow beings."
His lips quirked ruefully. "And then I met you, Captain. A man of passion and principle, yet unafraid to bend rules when it suited. You were...a challenge, unlike any I'd faced. I found myself wanting nothing more than to unravel the mystery of you."
Cole met Jeremy's watchful gaze openly. "Somewhere in our games, I stopped seeing you as a means to an end. Your good opinion became of paramount importance, though I've only now begun to understand why. When you look at me with such hatred..."
He faltered, brow furrowing as if physically pained. "It tears at something vital within me. I've never felt so...exposed. So please, if you can offer any insight - why do I care what you think?"
Jeremy held Cole's anguished stare for a long moment, weighing his sincerity. At last, he spoke.
"You care because against all odds, trickster, you've come to see me not just as a rival - but as something more."
Cole blinked, taken aback by Jeremy's words. Something more? The idea was utterly foreign, yet somehow made perfect sense.
"More?" he echoed faintly. Always adaptable, his quick mind was already discarding old assumptions to analyze this revelation from a new perspective.
Jeremy regarded him steadily. "Aye. Somewhere between our battles of will and cunning, a bond was forged whether we wished it or not. One does not crave another's approval so desperately without...affection lingering beneath."
The word hung heavy in the air between them. Cole's brows knit as conflicting emotions warred within - fear and longing, shame and yearning all tangled together.
Was it possible he'd come to care for this infuriating, steadfast pirate in more ways than intended? The idea terrified as much as it drew him in.
After a long moment Cole spoke again, voice thin and vulnerable. "And what of you, Captain? Do you think you could ever...see me as more than a rival?"
Jeremy sighed, face softening with sympathy for once as the trickster's uncertainty. Tentatively, he reached out to clasp Cole's shoulder in an unfamiliar gesture of solace.
"Much has passed between us, 'tis true. But there may yet be hope, if you prove willing to start anew - without power plays or deception." He searched Cole's face intently. "Can you do that, trickster?"
Cole let out a shaky breath, nodding. Whatever this strangeness was between them, he found he wanted nothing more than to understand...and perhaps rekindle what once was, in time.
"I will try, Captain. For you."
Jeremy searched Cole's face, seeing only sincerity in his conflicted gaze. The trickster had come far in baring his soul so openly; redemption would be an arduous road, but hope remained where before was only hatred.
Slowly, cautiously, Jeremy retracted his hand from Cole's shoulder. But instead of pulling away fully, his calloused fingers found Cole's and linked them together - an unspoken peace offering between former enemies turned tentative allies.
Cole stared down at their joined hands, eyes widening in wonder and not a little fear. But he did not withdraw, gripped by unfamiliar yet potent emotions awakened by Jeremy's small gesture of trust.
When Cole met the captain's eyes once more, Jeremy offered a small smile - the merest curl of his weathered lips, yet it lit his sharp features and warmed his azure eyes. "There may be promise of something more between us, trickster. But for now, let our talk continue in kinder spirits."
Cole nodded, returning a shy smile of his own. Words escaped him in that moment, but their clasped hands spoke volumes - of understanding gained, bridges mended, and potential blossoming where only ashes remained before.
As dawn's rosy light began to filter through the cabin's grimy windows, Cole released the nervous breath he'd not realized he was holding.
The golden light of dawn limned Jeremy's noble profile, reminding Cole all over again why he fell for this stalwart pirate. His gaze traced each weathered scar and line of strain, feeling anew the tangled mess of emotions this man alone could stir.
Without thinking he leaned in, following some instinct deeper than magic or guile. At the last moment he hesitated, searching Jeremy's eyes for permission or denial.
What he found was a quiet desire long buried beneath past hurts and suspicion. It was all the encouragement Cole needed to close the final distance between them.
His lips met Jeremy's in a soft kiss, close-mouthed and chaste yet lingering. After the anger and betrayal, such intimacy felt startling yet right - two souls seeing each other clearly at last.
Jeremy's calloused hand rose to cradle Cole's jaw, tracing the sharp angles in a tender caress as they kissed slowly, learning each other anew. No urgency marred the tender moment, only patience and fragile hope blooming where once was only doubt.
When at last they parted, Jeremy rested his forehead against Cole's, breathing the same air in a wordless communion of hearts and souls. Cole had never known such depths of emotion could exist beyond desire and fear.
"This changes things between us, trickster," Jeremy murmured. "No more tricks or power games. If you want this - want us - it must be as equals."
Cole nodded, filled to bursting with unfamiliar yet wondrous feelings. "I understand, Captain. Whatever it takes to earn your trust, your heart - I will do it."
And for the first time since arriving on this ship of scoundrels and scars, Cole felt he had truly found a home.
there we go, hope you guys like the fic! i know it's a bit long but i just had to write one for these two since we already have a lot of OUAT stories with the other couples 🥰

“Robin, what are you—oh!” Nancy shrieks.
Robin scoops Nancy up in her arms bridal style, literally sweeping Nancy off her feet. Robin grins at her, a stupidly boyish grin and Nancy is trying very hard right to not think about how close they are. Or how easy it was for Robin to scoop her up like it was nothing. She fights the blush spreading across her cheeks, and the smile threatening to spread along with it—long enough for her to muster, “Put me down!”
Robin’s still grinning as they begin to ascend the staircase, “No can do, your majesty,” Nancy glares at her, though there’s none of that old malice behind it, “it’s dangerous! Too dangerous for you, my queen,” this time Nancy can’t fight the burning heat spreading through her cheeks. This close, Nancy takes in everything about Robin’s face—her freckles, her bright eyes, her lips…Nancy briefly lets her gaze drop to Robin’s soft lips.
They stay like that a moment. Silent. Staring at one another, like they’re trapped in their own little bubble, their own little world. Nancy feels that…thing…again. That irritated tug in her chest that makes her think about ‘maybes’ and ‘what ifs?’ Dangerous things that she cannot think about right now.
The bubble pops when they reach the top of the stairs, as Robin finally puts her down. Nancy rolls her eyes. “My hero,” she teases, and doesn’t miss the way that Robin’s cheeks flush a pretty pink.
Max decides that this is a perfect time to leave the bathroom, toothbrush in hand. Nancy and Robin freeze. “Ew, moms. Wait,” she starts, eyes widening, “did you two finally kiss?”
“Bed. Now. No video games tonight,” Nancy commands, or fails to command given the smile on Max’s face.
“Boooooo,” Max groans, “you’re no fun.”
Robin chimes in, “Kid, listen to your mother.”
Max slinks back to the bathroom with a shit-eating grin on her face, which Nancy purposely ignores this as Max makes her way back to her bedroom.
Robin breaks the silence first, “Our daughter can be a little shit sometimes, you know that?”
Nancy snorts, and Robin giggles too, and suddenly that feeling is back in her chest, squeezing tighter around her heart. She pokes Robin’s shoulder. “She gets that from you,” she smiles. Robin’s jaw drops, clutching dramatically where Nancy poked her.
“You wound me, Wheeler,” she grins, and Nancy wants nothing more than to kiss than stupid grin off her face.
“Or from Eddie.”
Robin nods, “Definitely Munson’s fault.”
