They changed her age, thank fuck. This makes it that she was 23 when the crisis started and she joined the army at 18-19. It also means Valentine got married and had Bonnie at 18 which makes sense since it's stated that that she wanted to settle down as soon as possible.

Now they just need to change Kiriko's age and we're all set!

Words:

If you choose to go with her she’ll wake you up earlier than normal. Even as she’s awake much earlier than you.

But you both head out an hour or so later than she usually goes.

Has already packed you both lunch, snacks and water.

Usually has a routine or at least an idea, as her normal sessions are roughly two hours.

She’ll alter that for you though, lowering it down to an hour.

Does a lot more partner / duo activities.

Pulling you into helping her with sit ups, rewarding you with kisses once she sits up.

Play with her hair when she does push ups while on her back please! It doesn’t happen often but she loves it.

Or lay under her during them. Let her kiss you before going up.

If you allow her she’ll give you constant affection, just enough to be unable to brush off a helping or training.

hi! i posted this reddit comment a bit ago, as i thought it was a good reading of sojourn's character, and i'm currently on a long amtrak ride so i've been finishing up temi oh's excellent book featuring sojourn. i have thoughts.

let's talk about sojourn, aka vivian chase!

her cybernetic enhancements were initially the result of an autoimmune disease. even mina liao was surprised by how many procedures she'd undergone by the time she's in the CAF, though. (mina is in this book. we'll get there)

she has a twin sister, valentine, and a niece named bonnie!

she absolutely takes on a lot of perfectionist qualities when it comes to the battlefield.

her favorite architecture style is gothic revival (as a historic preservation girlie, i am qualified to call this based)

a bit of speculation, but it seems like she's very good at shah mat, a variation of chess. she played it frequently with her grandfather.

she's not best friends with mina, but the book makes it clear that they work well together within the canadian front of the omnic crisis.

her arms being protheses are the reason why she uses the railgun---no other soldier can handle its recoil.

she jumps four stories off a heron (a flying anti-omnic weapon of sorts) with relatively few ill effects. (i just think that's cool)

viv says fuck the ship of theseus and she's so fuckin real for that.

anyways!

i really enjoyed the book. it gave me a whole new perspective on sojourn. i know the game and the ephemera authored by other people are two different things, but i've integrated crazier things into my worldview. i think the book cements how much she cares about the people she works with and the work she does. looking forward to seeing this theme rear its head in the future!

someone remind me to scream about mina too later because this portrayal of mina was *chef's kiss* temi oh ily and i am deeply interested in reading sci-fi from the perspective of a neuroscience gal!

"Thank you for making us all treats, we all pitched in cleaning up and we made these for you as thanks, enjoy! ~Genji"

Cole: *smiles, sits down and enjoys his treats*

Hanzo: *walks in holding a whole strawberry shortcake and eating it with a fork* do you like our thank you?

Cole: *eating a slice of pie* yeah, it's great, y'all didn't have t' thank me.

Hanzo: You slaved away for hours to make us all things we enjoy, it's the least we could do, oh and the ice cream was my idea. *smiles and sits across from him*

Cole: *chuckles* good choice, it's the only dessert besides oreos that works deep fried, and it's great on the pie.

Hanzo: I'm glad my stereotype about Americans liking deep fried desserts was correct. *chuckles*

Cole: Damn right... Are you seriously eating that cake whole?

Hanzo: This is but a snack cowboy. *smirks and puts more in his mouth*

Sojourn Cinematic Analysis

Ok, there are going to be a few things I want to talk about so this is just a basic analysis with just my thoughts on the cinematic itself, along with some details I noticed on my first viewing. More Analyses are going to come out cause there are a few things I want to look at in more detail.

So let's get started.

First of all, I appreciate that they didn't dramatize Sojourn. What I mean is that a lot of her appeal to me is that, compared to all the other heroes, she's normal. Just a regular, grounded person. Though to us her being completely cybernetic is cool, in the Overwatch universe that's normal. Hell she didn't even get cybernetics for battle, she got them for her heath and to make living her life easier.

I think a big factor about this for me is the beginning few shots when she's getting coffee;

Both of them have cybernetics and both of them had them either fitted or altered to fit they're occupation. This is a normal thing and I love that!

Not only that but it also disproved what I personally thought and that is Sojourn didn't do any vigilante work and just quietly retired, and though it seems like that was the initial idea, it didn't stay that way. At the very least when Sojourn heard Null Sector was up to something she started to step in, do her own research, collect her own data.

Does that sound familiar?

She is doing the same thing Jack is, but I don't think this make them parallels. I think this makes them foils.

Jack has been gathering data on Talon in order to fuel his crusade, a crusade which multiple people call out as an unhealthy obsession. Sojourn on the other hand gathered this data out of necessity, she knew something bad was going on and she knew that the regular law enforcement wouldn't be able to handle it, so she took matters into her own hands.

Now let's talk about Sojourns guilt about testifying and how the public seemed to react to it. It seems that some people saw Sojourn testifying as inspirational. Meanwhile Sojourn herself sees it as a sacrifice, something she needed to do. A necessity.

Sojourn is one of the three characters we see who join the new Overwatch who were disillusioned from the organisation long before it's fall, the other two being Cassidy and Angela. One of which also testified against Overwatch. All three of them believe that the original Overwatch lost it's way but only two of them needed to be talked back into joining.

Despite everything Sojourn is re-joining without any outside influence, yes, she initially refused the call but as we see in the cinematic, she get quarterly visits from the police. It wouldn't be smart to accept the initial recall because she knows she's being monitored. Again that theme of necessity.

I haven't read her book yet so I might update on this theme after in it's own post but now let's get back into what I thought of the cinematic itself.

As always the lighting, animation and colours were beautiful. I think it functioned really well as a "calm before the storm" type video, meant to show how quickly Null Sector acted while also showing the little seeds of trouble that were brewing beforehand. I was honestly hoping we would see Pharah's dad but that was more of a me thing.

The set up showing that Sojourn knew they were coming for her after what she the night before was amazing. It was a fantastic set up!

Anyway, stay tuned cause there are a few more things I want to talk about because of this cinematic but they might take awhile. So I hope this was enjoyable and I can't wait to continue this analysis in future posts!
