This is my impression of the people who make movies/shows talking about their representation of visibly disabled people.
“Since we’re so nice, we’ll give you one (1) disabled character. They will be a manual wheelchair user and conventionally attractive. We do make exceptions for evil characters, who are allowed to have a cane and a limp or maybe are missing an eye. They will probably have a facial scar. If you’re really not feeling the wheelchair user you can also negotiate for a sidekick that uses forearm crutches instead. :) isn’t this great :) aren’t we so fantastic :) also notice how they all have lines ! Don’t question why :)”

forget me not
Stray Gods || Grace/Persephone
She can’t bear to face anyone since she dropped out of college. She had to talk to her parents, obviously, but it’s been almost a year since they spoke. She was expecting them to yell at her, tell her she was wasting her life, tell her she’d never get anywhere without a college degree, that she was almost done, so why couldn’t she just wait it out another couple of years and then at least she’d have finished something?
But they didn’t yell. They both just seemed…sad. Tired. And that was so much worse.
It was like they had given up on her.
Grace doesn’t know how to explain. She still hasn’t quite managed to explain it even to herself. Would anyone understand? Freddie never demanded an explanation—she loved Grace no matter what—but Grace was sure she wouldn’t get it. Freddie was passionate about so many things. Freddie was the sort of person who would probably go on to get a Master’s and a Doctorate or maybe two or three, because she just couldn’t decide what she loved the most.
And Grace?
Grace barely even felt like a person in college. She tried to do all kinds of things, join clubs, meet people, take classes she thought might be interesting. She tried to distance herself from Freddie, even, and she was not gentle. She tried to destroy herself over and over again, and make something entirely new. She tried to forge herself into someone interesting, someone worthwhile.
But in the end, the truth always came crashing back to her. She can’t escape herself. She can’t escape how utterly unremarkable she is.

It always seems like such a good idea in the moment (Patreon)
The first four are in reference to a great idea I had of - since I’ve finished my lower-limit page number testing for making books; shorter fics take up less page space, and just increasing the font size isn’t as handsome! - simply making a mini book! All it would take would be to halve the pages again, right? Just cut them right down the middle! Easy peasy!
As I’m sure you can tell by the second, no. Not easy peasy. Difficult painful un-fun >:(
Obviously I still did it tho! What do you take me for, someone who could have the idea of an even tinier book and then not do something about it?? No
It’s also the only one so far to have a paper bookmark rather than a ribbon!
All told it’s a bit smaller than your average manga (I love the monochrome covers on these under their dust jackets haha <3) - you can see even with effectively doubling up the pages by halving their size, it was still very small-spined!
A quick shot while it was still being made hehe ♪ It’s Out! Paired here - and the earlier one, just without its dust jacket haha - with my Zarla SC2 collection (ft. Family, Negotiations are Going...Well, and With No Obligation) - I absolutely kicked myself after the fact for not including Out as the run-up to everything, I was really trying to make a full collection in probably-chronological order! Out would’ve been a perfect start! And it only would’ve taken like four pages!!
Ah well, it was still quite a learning experience - I probably wouldn’t make another standalone of under 4k-ish just for formatting reasons but I did get some good ideas of how to do so if I wanted to! Although, my next project is going to be even more of a formatting nightmare........I’ll get there when I get there! Lol

Dude you should be so so so so so proud, literally one of the best pieces I've ever read. It's the angst and complex characterization of Baldwin's Giovanni's Room meets the research behind The Alienist (the book, obvi- haven't actually seen the show yet). I adore how you maintained the characters' personal values even though I don't like them most of the time, and I now know way too much about the military in general because I would wikipedia something every third sentence. (Also thanks for that because coincidentally I'm working on a research project on how low-level fighter jet training affects marine animal behaviour, and I actually passed my first oral with flying colours because of the random knowledge I have acquired while reading/because of your fic.) That being said, I desperately want a physical copy on my bookshelf- would you ever feel comfortable distributing one or letting us go get it printed professionally? If not, I totally understand and am more than happy with what we have access to now! Seriously, thank you- it's incredible.
thank you thank you thank you for the ask!! just gonna answer by point
1. i am very proud!!! just extremely editorbrained ie have been trying to fix all the flaws for the last two months straight, and now all i see are problems & flaws that i couldn’t fix…. you guys should see my hard copy of this fic every single page is basically black with pencil. just ripped it to shreds. it’s just a writer thing i think, i am my own worst critic :(
2. if by personal values you mean political opinions … I wish it were like socially acceptable to post my extremely in-depth headcanons about random shit like this because i am so deep in it that i literally wrote out ice and mav’s voting records since 1980. Tldr: conservaDems. registered R but consistently vote D. mav would vote libertarian if his husband weren’t standing over him threatening divorce. after 1/6/21 change their registration to D & are basically just neolib shills. only reason they don’t vote obama in 2008 is that mccain was a navy vet.
3. thank you for the compliment but i am literally BEGGING you guys not to take anything i say/claim in this fic about the military to be true. there are certainly elements of the truth but many of the details i literally just made up. or altered to make plot sense (see IRST discussion ch 9, IRST was SUGGESTED by Boeing in 2007/8, not implemented until 2010ish). so much of the plot simply would not happen in real life. i can make a whole post about this sometime if people are interested cause there is actually so much I could say about real life accuracy in this fic/implications of real life shit…
4. no way???? that research project sounds so interesting??? congrats on passing ur oral!! idk what that means but congrats!!!! coincidentally i am also working on a research project—it’s why i have to stop working on this fic at some point. my senior research thesis is a novel about USAF CSAR chopper pilots so ive been doing so much research over the last 5 months… but about the USAF not the USN. my navy research HAS helped though. so maybe it’s a mutually reciprocal relationship :) i would love to hear more about ur project!!!

@ your business card collection: how many do you have? Do you have a favorite?
I actually haven't counted? But it's a recent thing so I have like 100 distinct regulation-sized cards and a couple dozen fun ones
my only aesthetic opinion is that people need to stop making business cards too big for wallets.
my friend has a really cute card, a hughlight of the collection!
(it's hard to see in photos but it's all neon and so irl it really stands out)
