Pleant experts of tumblr, I need some advice
Tumblr media
This is Karlach. I have had Karlach since at least 2017, though it's very possible I got her back in 2016/2015. I found her at a Walmart on the back of a shelf in a very tiny Valentines themed heart-shaped pot (it was mid-March), and despite my horrendous luck with plants, I decided to buy her. She's somehow survived a possible 9 years with me, most likely because I kept her on the filter of my fish tank by the window for most of those years, so she had plenty of water due to condensation. I have no idea what Karlach even is. Her tag was missing, and all that came up when they scanned her was 'succulent'.
I've been trying to decide whether I should get her a larger pot, as she has grown far more than I ever expected, and I'm worried she will/has grown too big for her pot. She seems perfectly fine currently, but the flowers she grew started to wilt not long after they grew, which Im worried might be a result of her planter being too small.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'm hesitant to move her if not nessecary, because despite her living this long, I still have horrible luck with plants, especially succulents, and I don't want to mess with her if I don't have to.
If anyone can give me some advice on whether or not I should transplant her to a bigger pot, or if you have any idea what she might be, it would be greatly appreciated.

Ops I did it again... propagated a plant
Tumblr media
I couldn't resist and I asked for permission to take it 🌿
I seriously got lost in the game of propagating plants for free 🤷🏻
It bugs me SO MUCH that the leaves are "upsidedown" because I had to stick it in water but I can't place water on the ceiling
Or can I... If I put it in soil and through the drainage holes it might work...

Plant people of tumblr, does anyone know what's going on here?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
For context, I got this little guy in the summer for free (technically. I left five dollars), and it was doing great for a while, but then I started noticing a lot of the base leaves were drying up and withering. It was a lot fuller when I got it. I tried giving it water, I've not watered it in case it was too wet and needed time to dry out, neither really changed anything. Maybe it's the light? I only have an east facing window, and being in the upper northern hemisphere we aren't getting as much light right now, but my other succulent and other plants have been doing fine with this amount of light.
Any advice?

The BIGGEST piece of houseplant advice I wish I’d known sooner:
Use a soil moisture meter!
It’s a LIFESAVER to quickly check whether a plant needs water yet or not. (Usually it doesn’t yet!*)
Many plants have their own “tells”** that you can learn to read with experience, but it’s just SO much simpler (and more accurate) to check (or double/check) using the meter. I cannot stress highly enough how much easier it makes taking care of your plants when you can remove that guesswork.
That said, there are two things to keep in mind while using a soil moisture meter:
1. If you get a cheaper one ($10 or less), in my experience it may wear out and become unreliable after a few to several months. You may be better off spending a few more bucks for one that will last longer.
2. If you have a lot of plants in different rooms or stories of your home, I highly recommend getting more than one for the sake of convenience.
3. Wipe or rinse off the meter probe off in between each plant! Houseplant pests can leave larvae in the soil, which can then be spread to whichever unlucky plant you use the moisture meter on next. (I learned this the hard way!)
* My golden rule is: When in doubt, wait a few more days. With very few exceptions, most houseplants will tolerate and bounce back from underwatering (too-infrequent watering) whereas overwatering (too-frequent watering) is often be a death sentence. Most houseplants (especially succulents, cacti, snake plants!) prefer to have their soil dry out completely or almost completely in between waterings.
** often things like its leaves that are drooping, curling, or wrinkling, or they’re feeling/looking thinner and more pliable. Or the soil looks and feels dried up, the pot feels lighter, etc.

Hi tumblr, this is sort of not what I normally do or post but if anyone would be able to tell me what's going on with my plant that would be great. I've done some research and have found nothing and, in hopes of saving my plant, have come here. For some background I have this plant identified as a Cupid Peperomia but am pretty sure it's not. Technically they're two plants but as far as I know they have grown together as one. I have moss in the pot that I'm still working on identifying but my theory is that it's of the family Distichium (Fire Moss is of this family) (though this has been growing with them for almost a year and nothing as such has happened it even seemed to help). There is also a small plant growing next to them that looks similar to a grass? <- not my area of expertise. They come from a father plant of the same species, off shoots of his roots. Also their pot (while not having draining) has a lower half that water collects in.
Here are some photos

And no they are not aphids.

BERRY UPDATES
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Today (October 26th) marks the 87th day of the life of Berry The II.
His sibling, Berry, was born July 26th so 3 months ago. But sadly he never actually was alive so I buried him some time after a month and a half.
I need Berry The II in a glass jar with moist paper towels and a plastic cover with tiny holes for oxygen and temperature regulation.
We've had some ups and downs, as most things in life have, and about a month ago I treated its roots with apple cider vinegar to keep the mold away.
I'd say Berry is thriving, alive and well. I'll keep you updated 🌱💚🥑

ok so i have this pothos n joy, and i’m not sure if she needs a repotting? i got her about a year and a half ago, and i left her in the original pot. i know pothos like to be rootbound, and i’d rather be safe than sorry, plus she seems pretty happy right now. i have noticed that i need to water more often, which might be a sign that the roots aren’t absorbing the water as well.

Help! Has anyone ever seen this happen to an aloe plant?
Tumblr media
It's got these extremely distinct brown rings with brown spots in the centre. I can't find anything online beyond a single forum post with no answers.
I'm worried it's some kind of fungal infection. It appears to only be affecting the new growth.
There's a pup I could separate and possibly rescue but I've had this plant for ages and I don't want to get rid of it if I don't have to.

I need an advice from any of my flower loving fellows. If the plant grows very strong leaves on one side because that's where it faces the sun, is it ok to turn it around so the smaller leaves grow bigger too? Bc maybe it'll slow the growth a little bit, she'll get less nutrients than she could've. She's been doing so good lately, I don't want to disturb her progress.

Repotted some of my children (and my adopted fiddleleaf fig bc my dad only pays attention to the family heirloom philodendron)
Question for any plant parents, my begonia (Bill) just grows like that and I tried to prop it up w sticks but failed, is there stuff at the store made for that? I’ve had him over a year and didn’t expect so much growth and I’m kinda inexperienced.
Also I live in a semi-tropical climate should I leave the babies out here for awhile once they get over the shock of moving? It’s shady and warm.
