random thoughts abt the prisoner (1967):

first off i just love how unseriously this show takes itself

in the intro when No.6 resigns from the CIA, the letter he slams on the desk literally just says "PRIVATE. PERSONAL. BY HAND."

it's a kind of blink-and-you-miss-it thing, but instead of saying "resignation" or the name of his boss or something, it says this and reaffirms the fact that him resigning is a big deal™ and also just makes the whole intro funnier bc it's obvious that it's meant to be over the top dramatic and absurd

the whole show is about the paranoia that results from people's curiosity spiraling out of control. so of course they make that apparent in the most heavy-handed way possible-- by literally labeling his resignation like a fucked up political cartoon to convey to us how curious the village is as to why No.6 resigned and to make us curious about it too

The rise of "let people enjoy things" is single handedly the backbone of the rise of anti intellectualism

#i need to talk about this #disclaimer : im beyond terrible at putting my point across #so with that being said let me attempt at it #let's take look at the hate and misogyny women receive for liking a certain genre of books #that is so often simply countered with let people enjoy things #but we cannot let that narrative take over a whole as if critical thinking is “bad”?#booktok has made it so that disliking a popular books makes you the person with the superiority complex who should just let people enjoy-#-things #but when did criticizing actively target audiences who like that peice of literature? When did that become the narrative?#its all mindless consumption without a second thought to the actual material which can easily be credited to the tropification of books #the enemies do turn into lovers and the best friends do fall in love 10 years down the line #classifying books into tropes and then fulfilling that promise gives books an illusion of being “good” since it checks those boxes-#-that the reader picked up the book for in the first place #the act of reading has kind of been substituted by the act of being a reader and just owning stacks of books #we have turned away from any form of analysis or criticism #if it scratches the itch then its automatically the perfect book without further thought #i cant help but contribute the mere existence of that “itch” to how mordern books are classified into tropes with set plotlines #intelligenctualism is almost always looked at as elitism #reading only classics doesn't make you an intellectual individual but looking at any book with a critical lens may it be a classic or a rom #-com does #criticizing certain aspects of your absolute favorite books is intellectualism and not bullying people who like anything but classics #that distinction is so far lost in translation that talking about how a popular book is objectively bad is being a “hater”#well then im a hater #this is not a hate post for people who actively enjoy booktock or the more popular books #im just trying to introduce any amount of nuance into the conversation thats all #i can honestly go on forever but i think ill end my ranting here #literary criticism #literature #books #anti intellectualism

Well, I just wanna say, I LOVE YOUR FEMTSUMUGI! I mean, it looks just right, and somehow, the vibe is just so Tsumugi I can't stop loving it. Don't care about them! Do what you love!

I understand that all ES characters have different heights and weights but their body type are not very diverse. It is not a bad thing, since it is really hard to put lots of body types into 51 3D models. Also because of the standards and marketing.

But of course, that doesn't mean we can't have our hc. So, go! Let ourselves be free and have fun!

but yea i get why this is something people are very passionate about, but know ppl not liking my art or the way i draw things doesnt bother me and i most CERTAINLY will not stop doing what i love 💪💪💪 at the end of the day i draw for myself after all main reason i might end up yapping alot whenever this stuff is brought to my attention is just bc im autistic and dont know when to shut up. Plus i wanna try making my points very clear hence the constant paragraph long responses (like im doing rn LOL) so i often end up over-speaking on an issue that doesnt warrant it but thats basically it. i can get a lil heated in the moment as im just in general a more angry person but that doesnt mean its anything super deep in my eyes so FRET NOT!!!

AND YES!! i think people having different hcs is what can make things fun and interesting!! so i really want people to bring their visions to life..... do it for u!

Listen this shit breaks my heart too and I'm 100% willing to drop Wilbur if it's actually him, but the way some of y'all are actively (and very VERY furiously) taking sides about something that is intentionally being kept vague is kind of weird.

I have been through Amino, Wattpad witchhunts, and so much more. But it's so fucking weird how some of you guys are like "There is no doubt it has to be him!" or "There is no doubt it can't be him!" Shelby is keeping this shit vague for a purpose and Wilbur literally hasn't been on his Twitter in months. You guys are on the same level as those weirdos back in 2016 who would speculate about private things between children, stop it.

It's especially weird how you guys are making DEFENSE AND EVIDENCE posts for him. Stop playing lawyer and Sherlock! Just tell people there's evidence pointing to Wilbur if asked why he's involved, link whatever is needed, and stop making your goddamn threads/posts/whatevers!! I know I'm overusing the word weird, but it's the only way I can describe this. You're not helping her by trying to piece together who it is when she probably FEARED THIS HAPPENING, especially if it IS him.
