Biden adds transgender veteran to presidential transition team at Department of Defense / LGBTQ Nation

The Biden transition team has named several LGBTQ people to oversee and review various public agencies – and transgender veteran Shawn Skelly has been tapped as part of the group that will evaluate the Department of Defense.

President Donald Trump banned transgender people from serving in the military. Joe Biden has pledged to immediately undo the ban.

Skelly, a former special assistant to the Undersecretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology, and Logistics, was director of the Office of the Executive Secretariat at the Department of Transportation under the Obama administration. She was the first trans veteran to get a presidential appointment.

Dave Noble, an out former Obama appointee to NASA, has also been tapped to join the transition team. He will be part of the group evaluating the agency’s state after four years of Trump rule.

Lesbian Chai Feldblum, the former Equal Employment Opportunity Commission member targeted by the religious right, has been chosen to be part of the team reviewing the Department of Justice.

A release from the campaign specifically notes, “The Department of Justice team will also review the Federal Election Commission, the U.S. Election Assistance Commission, the Commission on Civil Rights, the National Council on Disability, the United States Access Board, AbilityOne, the State Justice Institute, and the Legal Services Corporation.”

“Our nation is grappling with a pandemic, an economic crisis, urgent calls for racial justice, and the existential threat of climate change,” Ted Kaufman, co-chair of the transition team, said. “We must be prepared for a seamless transfer of knowledge to the incoming administration to protect our interests at home and abroad.”

“The agency review process will help lay the foundation for meeting these challenges on Day 1. The work of the agency review teams is critical for protecting national security, addressing the ongoing public health crisis, and demonstrating that America remains the beacon of democracy for the world.”

Trump’s administration has so far refused to work with the transition team to ensure a smooth transition of power.

Can’t believe all the dnc apologists on this site lmao. Biden has been accused of sexual assault and there is video footage of him being a creep which should be enough for you people to not want to vote for him.

But if that’s not enough. He wrote the Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement act which had a financial incentive for jailing minorities.

He was the head of the Senate Judiciary Comittee that punished drug users which also disproportionately affected minorities.

He voted for the Secure Fence Act which funded construction of fencing along the Mexico border (sound familiar???)

As a senator he supported banning gay people from the US military. Sure he reversed his position (because he wants money) but he’s no advocate for LGBT rights let’s be clear.

In 1981 he voted for states to be able to overturn Roe V Wade. He voted to end federal funding of abortion for victims of rape and incest.

Also his foreign policy is fucking horrendous and I’m not going to get into that but holy fuck.

You can say maybe he switched his positions on things, and you can say he’s better now. whatever makes you feel better but he has a track record and the DNC didn’t care. Pretty much all the other candidates had better track records. But this is what the DNC did. They screwed Bernie TWICE, Andrew Yang, tulsi gabbard... all the candidates that COULD have beat trump and we would’ve been okay with. All candidates that didn’t have shady pasts, that were well spoken and not tainted by years of bad voting that’s eerily similar to trump’s ideas. ALSO why did everyone forget how long it took voter counts to come out the first few times? Fuck the DNC

I’m not here for it. You shouldn’t be either. He’s not better just because he has a D next to his name instead of an R.

Why is the Democratic Party so dumb? Literally tulsi Gabbard is the only one who has maybe a shot at winning against trump. Yang might have too. Those are the only 2 candidates that republicans can look at and go, okay, they don’t suck, and they’re actually smart!

But you have fucking Bernie Sanders basically winning the first primary and caucus. Anyone with conservative leanings is not going to vote for a socialist even if they don’t like trump. The DNC doesn’t like him either. Odds are he’s gonna get fucked over again anyway, but whatever.

Buttigieg is boring and literally doesn’t say anything new plus his policies suck.

Biden is a fucking creep and just talks about Obama every five seconds.

Klobuchar is an idiot, sorry! But she’s kinda just female Buttigieg to me. Not that she’s gonna win anyway...

Warren wants to be Hilary Clinton so bad. I feel sorry for her kinda. But she sucks. Her policies suck, she flip flops and she’s a bitch to Bernie for no reason. Like, I hate bernies policies but he’s an okay guy.
