Once again mentally transporting the dnd party into a piece of media that I like (this time it is monster hunter)

#specifically imagining them as one of those npc groups you can meet sometimes in the villages #sir reginald would have very bulky armor of some kind and have a hammer #chag dag bragston would use either a bow or a bowgun and her armor would have to be easy to move in #also ideally would have a scarf #and extra ideally her weapon would be part of the food weapon set #auris my beloved auris. dual blades or bow. mostly for inflicting statuses. his armor should look flowy #narin would be dual blades or light bowgun. g rank pukei pukei armor but with a plague mask like the hr male pukei armor gets #reginald is a damage dealer 100% but sometimes he remembers life powder exists #chag does insane damage and is really good at well timed dodges. loves foraging #auris is something of a trap master #and narin is their information specialist. studies monsters. crafts a lot of their items. and in battle she runs max wide range #so shes more support than damage #yknow what yeah auris gets a bow he is not built for close range #chag has super high affinity. reginald has incredible defense and pretty solid attack. auris has good affinity #and good skills for inflicting ailmemts and draining monsters stamina and stuff. and narin is also good at ailments and has ok affinity #you meet them and reginald clearly thinks hes the main character/leader #but when you talk to them the others are like yeah actuall narin is the competent one.#they seem dysfunctional but then they're like yeah actually we just took down a gore magala the other day.

MK Characters Intro Banter With Monster Hunter Reader!

In this scenario the Reader is a monster hunter from the Monster Hunter game franchise! I love, love, love MH, and I also love, love, love, MK! So why not bring them together!? Reader is gender neutral and is simply called 'hunter' in these.

Tags/warnings: Language, talk of violence (against people and animal-like monsters), Monster Hunter termanology and references, Reader is a funny monster hunting badass!

Liu Kang

You: "Y'know, I hunt dragons for a living."

Lui Kang: "Is that a threat, hunter?"

You: "Just a friendly heads up."

Liu Kang: "What are those blades made of?"

You: "My dual blades? These are made from the parts of Rathalos and Rathian I've hunted."

Liu Kang: "They are pulsing with both flame and poison..."

Liu Kang: "My dragon fire does not effect you nearly as much as others."

You: "These talismans aren't for show, Liu."

Liu Kang: "Let's see if I can't knock them off!"

You: "I'd love to see you get into a kick-off with a Seregios."

Liu Kang: "A Seregios? Another monster of yours?"

You: "Just imagine a golden parrot with knives for feathers. ...They also kick really hard."

Scorpion

You: "Never thought I'd meet someone as angry as an Odogaron."

Scorpion: "My rage cannot ever be sated."

Raiden: "What are these Elder Dragons you speak of?"

You: "They are the scientifically unexplainable monsters that roam my world. I have fought and slain many."

Raiden: "Impressive. We could use your skills in defending Earthrealm."

You: "A Zinogre would be a good companion for you, Raiden."

Raiden: "I have no interest in pets."

You: "Not even a dragon dog with natural thunder abilities?"

Raiden: "I must admit, you are hard to strike with my lightening."

You: "I had to get good at dodging thunder attacks when a Kirin went berserk back home."

Raiden: "Your world has made you versatile indeed."

You: "Raiden, help me test out my new weapon!"

Raiden: "Are you welding an axe or a sword and shield?"

You: "Both, baby!"

Johnny Cage

Johnny Cage: "Damn, you take hits like a tank!"

You: "Armor and food, Johnny. Armor and food."

Johnny Cage: "What are those cats feeding you!?"

You: "Ready to face the music, Johnny?"

Johnny Cage: "Wait, you mean that's not a hammer?!"

You: "I'm gonna play the Ninja Mime theme while bludgeoning you to the pavement!"

yoyoyo i'm comin right at ya with a nother group drawing project.

This time; Monster Hunter!!

Originally this was just going to be the hunters in their armor sets but I wanted to have an excuse to draw my mega floofer (banbaro my beloved) so I let everyone pick a monster as their partner in the same way as in monster hunter stories!

I changed the appearences of some of the creatures a little to make them look younger as my whole idea was that they are the more juvenile versions which is why banbaro has smaller antlers, mizutsune has smaller fin-flap-thingies and rajang has been un-wrinkled.

Most of the armor sets are from monster hunter world or rise because those are the games that all of us had installed an could reference the easiest. I was also lucky enough to have some of the monsters as 3d models in mmd so I could premodel some of the poses and save myself a lot of time.

The monsters and armor sets featured are:

Rajang and full pukei pukei armor and comission dual blades

Mizutsune with master rank great girros armor, leather head piece and pukey pukei kinsect glave

Pukei pukei with mizutsune gear

Tigerstripe zamtrios and full anjanath gear

Astalos and astalos gear and i got no fucking clue what that sword is

Pyre rakna kadaki armor and crimson fatalis tonfas

Banbaro with a mix of spring blossom, paolumu, banbaro and ingot gear with paolumu light bowgun

Paolumu with full leather gear

Another WIP coz I have a problem. Here's progress on a MonHun x LOZ au. Because I should totally be working on this instead of everything else I started this week (sarcasm).

Though, feel free to pester me ab any of my aus or characters or smth. I'm always looking for a reason to info-dump or doodle smth for y'all.

Speaking of info-dump... below the cut is my brain vomit! Feel free to ignore it or idk read it if you want my over-excited brain garble.

His name is Sapphire (for now). And the au is kinda based around Worldborne but also has a lot of elements from the older (and even recent) games. This also does mean there's worldborne mechanics (like the slinger for example) or just general stuff the 5th gen as a whole introduced.

I'm still in the process of worldbuilding tbh. Smth smth Hyrule has changed a lot over the years. Smth Smth monsters everywhere. OR its a new section of Old World MH that was founded and named Hyrule. The urge to put it all in seliana/hoarfrost is way too strong and I feel like I'm losing my mind writing all this. I'm that guy from the Pepe Silvia meme pointing at the board trying to figure out where this au would take place.

Moving on to save my sanity (and yours) his armor so far. In case it garners interest: - Coral Pukei-Pukei Helm - Anjanath Braces x Viper Tobi braces - Coral Pukei-Pukei Waist - Brigade Legs

Most pieces are based off the female versions of the armor, except brigade which y'all aren't seeing here. Also the brace pieces are sorta hybrid-ed, combining the fluff from anjanath's braces with Viper Tobi's base. Combining them and making them work and look natural drove me nuts. But tbh I'm liking where it's going :)!

Sapphire has been in my brain for a few months now, so its refreshing actually starting his ref. But thing's are subject to change as always! I'll probs share more progress on Ko-fi if I can force myself to document it all for ✨the supporters™✨

Okay now that I've had time to marinate after watching the last two episodes of Fionna and Cake, I'm ready to infodump about my Monster Hunter absintheshipping au because I'm insane.

Burgh is a born and raised Wyverian who has a special interest in bug and bug-like monsters. This specific group of Wyverians that he grew up with resides within a lush forest teeming with life. They set themselves apart from humans and human culture for the most part, opting to instead connect more with nature.

Many of these Wyverians are "riders", which means they befriend monsters and work together with them to ensure the safety of their people and maintain balance within the ecosystem. They typically try to avoid killing monsters and will always first try to drive out any invasive species before killing it. However, sometimes this is inevitable.

Burgh's main monster (his "ace" in Pokemon lingo) is a Seltas Queen that he befriended when he was small, but he also has a Nerscylla and Astalos that he brings out every so often. All three of his monsters are very mild-mannered and calm. They often don't look for a fight and prefer exploring with Burgh instead, but will not hesitate to protect him or listen to him when ordered.

Burgh is very skilled with an insect glaive (specific one included in the link) and has a very strong bond with his kinsect (<- a bug companion that assists insect glaive users in battle). He switches between the Pukei Pukei armor set and the Rhopessa armor set. (Not taking armor or weapon skills and strength into consideration because I don't have brainpower for that.)

Burgh doesn't have much of an interest in hunting monsters or participating in missions, he typically finds himself exploring surrounding areas instead. He enjoys being one with nature as well as painting and sketching small bugs and bug monsters that he finds. His life goal is to paint every bug and bug-like monster out there.

AND I'M GONNA STOP THERE FOR NOW AND GIVE GRIMSLEY HIS OWN POST LATER BECAUSE THIS BECAME A LOT LONGER THAN I ORIGINALLY THOUGHT-

Adding in some Monster Hunter fanart while I think of it! It's easily one of my favorite games but all the designs are SO detailed that I can't bring myself to do fanart of it often. (I say knowing full well I have a planned fanart involving the series right now.)

In any case, I bring you ALATREON! The best eeveelution and no one can tell me otherwise. No one also can determine if it's supposed to be ice, fire, dragon or some combination of those types.

Next is Nath in Zorah Magdaros armor. I know this set's really good for charge blade but I honestly can't put my finger on what weapon she'd prefer. The Sw/Sh and IG fit her mobility. CB and SA match how much she tends to overcomplicate fights. LBG matches her canon weapon choice best and Bow also leans more towards canon while also matching her mobility... For the record I mess around with all these weapons in game and then some myself.

And finally, Kliv. She's definitely using HH or Sw/Sh because helping others is more important to her than killing the monster but she is NOT a corner healer and they should all be ashamed. She's got the pukei-pukei set and a great girros Sw/Sh from MHW because she's not a very good hunter, paralysis is good support for her team, and the goggles are too fucking cute.

hearthome posting about Skag Domestication & Imported Pets.

Pandora houses (a lot of) predator-class creatures, super-sized insectoid-arachnids, and various megafauna. pretty much all of which are extremely territorial to the point of people openly describing the wildlife as “more than happy to attack you.” (hell, even the plants can be hostile.)

skags are one such creature; kind of a fucked up reptile-dog with a vertical, bisected mouth. they’ll eat genuinely anything, but whatever they cannot digest is regurgitated. (they also eat and defecate out of the same hole. i.e. their mouth. something something, circular/looping digestive tract.) they’re pack animals, similar in hierarchy structure to wolves or hyenas. They communally raise their young, and sometimes split off from their family pack when they’re old enough to mate.

aren't they cute? 💖

within the games, they serve as early, non-human enemy fodder, with stronger variants as you progress. throughout the series, there’s been several instances of clearly domesticated skags. Scrappy, in BL1. Dukino, Willy, and Ol' Pukey, in BL2, and Benjamin Blue in BL:TPS. (there was one or two in BL3, owned by Tiny Tina, but the wiki has yet to list them by name, and I don’t feel like traipsing through the game itself to find out.) this also counts for skags that are used as mounts, in place of a horse-like animal.

so you might be wondering: “Steven! Why in the everliving Hell would anyone want to even get close to these animals, let alone domesticate them?” or maybe not, idk-

to which i answer, uhhHhh, humans will packbond with anything lol

a lot of skags are used for protection, since they're tougher than dogs, armored, and some even have elemental affinities! there's not really any dedicated "domestic skag" breeding programs, as most pet skags are taken from the wild & hand-raised at a very young age.

which got me thinking: Pandora (as well as the border planets in general) visually lacks any kind of common domesticated pets. cats and dogs alike are referenced enough, but are never shown in any of the games. one of Brick’s dogs is shown via a flashback, but only illustrated. there’s no in-game models of cats, dogs, or hell, even birds (aside from Bloodwing, but she’s an alien bird so it doesn’t count).

and you’d think, for a planet teaming with humans that came from other settled planets... that we’d see at least some pets they brought over. right?

in-game, nah. but they clearly Exist on Pandora & her moon, Elpis, and arguably on any other planet in the border worlds, thanks to characters referencing them: Handsome Jack had a cat (or two), several characters mention their love or distaste for cats, Brick as a whole owned two/three separate dogs (that were unfortunately killed, and who’s paws he wears in remembrance), and that’s just stuff off the top of my head!

so like. where are the cats? where are the dogs?

they’re part of the world, but not important enough to the story to be shown in-game. but they are There, and there's a pretty sizeable stray population on Pandora alone; mostly centralized in settlements and cities. in the wild it's generally kept down by all the local fauna. you'll see plenty of "proper" pet cats, dogs, and other pets in corporate-funded settlements and big cities.

metatextuality, they were most likely out of the budget. or it’s possible the writers were like “this would be a good running joke, where we mention earth pets/animals but never have any show up (except in One inspirational poster that, in-universe, might just be a drawn illustration).”

but that's honestly just a guess on my part lol
