OH BOY, I'VE JUST WATCHED THE LAST EPISODE AND I'M IN A PUBLIC PLACE SO I CAN'T SCREAM BUT I WISH I COULD!!!
1) Emmett opening the door to find Travis and Eli was in my Bingo card and I enjoyed it so much, yay to the awkward scene I needed! (Of course I feel bad for Eli, cheating is always wrong and Travis should've done... Something but sue me, my fangirl heart is screaming.)
2) The "it was a mistake" scene was in my Bingo card too and it's so funny that they lasted for what, ten minutes? before doing that same mistake all over again because they can't keep their hands (and something else lol) off each other.
3) I'm sorry but the not-so-accidental hand touch?? And the way Emmett glanced at Travis? I'm losing my mind your honour.
4) The closet scene I DON'T EVEN WANT TO START RAMBLING BECAUSE I COULD GO ON FOR HOURS
5) I get why Travis was upset but Emmett didn't say anything wrong, Travis needs to talk to Eli and end things with him and now I need an emotional scene between Travis and Emmett where Travis makes a GREAT SPEECH and they get back together
Random thoughts: I wonder what Emmett's gonna do now... Is he flying back to Italy? Or is he planning to stay in Seattle a little more? UHHHH I need to know so I can start making theories

Yeah, I feel similarly about Kendall winning with Matsson and Mencken, like it makes sense and all but it's just not narratively interesting to me and I hope there's a little more to it than that.
yeaaaa like it’s the most Logically Sound While Still ~Twisty~ Outcome i can think of (twisty in that instead of US CEO being shiv they end up asking ken and he says yes etc… not very twisty but ya know. not entirely predictable. i guess) but it’s just not a super, like, interesting one. im lowkey really at a loss for how it’ll end honestly — any ending i can think of that isn’t kendall hollow pyrrhic victory would ring false and feel like a forced twist that doesn’t really track very well, but kendall hollow pyrrhic victory is not only predictable (which in theory i’d be fine w) but an insanely common prestige tv trope that succession wouldn’t be doing anything new with and idk it would kinda feel like a letdown to me. i don’t want a Massive Twist like it’s not that kind of show (and thank god) and they always value character/narrative/meaning > shock value, but i’m just not sure what a satisfying ending would be even with that in mind because ken pyrrhic victory just feels a little too neat almost. i do think it’ll be open-ended but mostly re: like long term stuff as in relationships, well-being, “””redemption””” etc; i think that we will probably get a clear answer to the titular question, at least for now (like, could change in the future, but at present the outcome is ___) — saw something from mylod alluding to certain shots of a certain character hinting at who the successor will be, which makes me think there will be a successor (and it would be so cheap for there not to be). idk i’m rambling but yeah i’m just very curious to see how jesse will try to resolve the dilemma he’s somewhat written himself into where everything except for one outcome feels off, but that one outcome feels cliche/obvious and wouldn’t say anything other shows haven’t…. please stick the landing jesse i beg of you

about that last reblog- yeah man, regardless of ur position in that kind of situation, i think it all comes down to communication. god knows i struggle with this myself, but i've been making a huge effort these past years to be honest and direct and to manage my expectations depending on the person, and to know what's fair to expect back depending on what i'm able to provide, even if relationships can still get messy and we can all still fuck up cause we're goddamn emotional beings, not robots
state what you want or need plainly, instead of prodding or testing and assuming the other person's position based on your perception of their answers. they don't know what u rly want or need from them if u don't tell them. likewise, if a person requires certain needs met in a friendship and u know u can't provide as much attention or time as they'd like you to, say as much, as well, from the start. they might decide that doesn't work for them and u have to respect it. state ur ways, state your boundaries, make it clear when something is wrong, if it is, especially if u are a bit of a hermit normally. on the other hand, if you, without prompting or even a hint for it, start love bombing someone or dedicating all ur time to them cause you really crave that kind of affection and attention back, as quick as you can get it, well, some ppl might be okay with it and even return it but others will definitely dissappoint u by no fault of their own. if each other's needs and boundaries clash, then shake hands and walk away and find what you need in ppl that can and want to give it. even then, dynamics shift and ppl go through shit that changes their routines and their ways to socialize, and again, communication helps avoid misunderstandings. and of course, if u state what you need atm clearly and early, especially when ur still getting to know each other, and that is tested or met with guilt tripping or manipulation meant to force u out of ur boundaries, that's on them. and honestly a red flag. likewise, if someone who doesn't usually start conversations or checks in often or just gives back as much attention as they get from u, reacts angrily or hurt when you, the convo initiator, change the routine, that's also unfair. and if someone, when u state ur needs, promises to meet them just so u stay, rather than giving u a fair warning of what to expect from them so u can decide to stay or not, and then fail to do so, further hurting u, yeah. not great either. often all of this isn't even malicious, ppl are just going to be difficult and fail u and disappoint u sometimes, just like u will be the one doing that to others without meaning to or realizing it. we're all still growing up and figuring out what the fuck we want or need. at all times. but yeah, it's about meeting in the middle, walking away or knowing what to expect from each dynamic. communication fixes things or at least lessens the blow, that's all

advice i think we should tell children is that when adults say stuff like ‘now that i’m an adult i get really excited about stuff like coffee tables and bathrooms and rugs etc’ they don’t mean ‘and now i don’t care about blorbo and squimbus from my childhood tv shows anymore’ bc your average adult still loves all the same pop culture stuff they always did; they just have a greater appreciation for the mundane as well. growing up just means you can enjoy life twice as much now. you can get really excited about a new stuffed animal AND about a new kitchen sponge. peace and love

The thing I keep coming back to, with all the *gestures expansively* is that real life doesn't have peaceful epilogues.
Every single win has to be defended. Forever. I'm sorry. It sucks. The Nazis lost until they stopped losing. The US had abortion rights, and then 50 years later it didn't. Empires fall, and then they invade other countries again. Oppressive regimes are overthrown and replaced with other oppressive regimes. You will never finish the work etc etc etc. Which is why it's so fucking important to be able to acknowledge and celebrate progress, when it happens. The people who came before you didn't put in all that work for nothing, and you aren't, either. You can't save it all for the Ultimate Victory because there is never going to be an Ultimate Victory. There's no such thing as a time when everything is good, and ours shall not be the commune of Heaven.

Shocked how many people think you can just turn on a computer and leave it on for weeks or months or years and never turn it off and it'll be fine. Computers need their sleep, and sleep mode does not count

ao3 commenters PSA: even on older fics with a ton of comments the authors still get the notifs for every single comment
re: the person who just left a multi paragraph comment on one of my older fics talking about how much they disliked the ending and detailing several alternate endings they came up with instead that they thought would be better, and ending the comment with "no one is going to see this but oh well" authors see your comments yes even on old fics and it really doesn't feel good to see a comment like that even years after I finished the fic

Not to be self congratulatory but a classmate was doing a study for one of his game design classes and asked if I’d be one of his participants. I like him so I said yes and he had me do a questionnaire and then set me up in front of Street Fighter.
He had me with set parameters and told me to just fight it out so I did. I watched his eyebrows go up when I finished but he couldn’t comment until the end.
He asked if I played Street Fighter regularly and I said no. I told him I played stuff like Bloody Roar, Guilty Gear, Mortal Kombat and Smash Bros growing up socially, but it’s never been my genre.
He asked if I would be more interested to play Street Fighter after this test and I said no.
He started quietly laughing when I finished all the questions and I said, “What? Did I do poorly?”
“No. You finished the fastest out of anyone I’ve tested. You’re also the oldest and have the least interest in this genre of game, it’s just really funny.”
I told him my best friend growing up had consoles but I didn’t. He got to play and practice regularly so he tended to be better than me as a baseline. But. If I won he’d get so furious that he’d turn the console off and we could do what I wanted instead, so I developed an aggressive button mashing technique that has served me well.
