Another episode of I'm someone who can't rid of anything that might be useful because everytime something ends up useful it just boosts my confidence in saving things:
My favorite hair scarf that was my very first one and i already bought it old as shit got a stain on it, and my grandma was hand washing it for me with just water because it is Delicate and the water itself put holes in it it was that worn/old. However I'm a sentimental fool who loved the stupid thing and it was my Literal Favorite so we had a big picture frame with a piece of art my grandma was going to toss (it was mass produced not an original, she bought it off of QVC once upon a time) and i just wrapped the head scarf around the back of the old print and it actually looks really good we both love it even with the hole in the scarf. I'm also a sentimental fool who was thinking that maybe it'll get passed on one day as "grandma's/aunt's/sisters favorite head scarf" but idk I'm just a fool 馃槀

If we really want to reduce plastic bottle useage we need to fix the pipe systems around America.
For a lot of people it isn鈥檛 pickiness. They cannot drink their own tap water because it's unsafe to consume.
If we really want people to stop buying bottled water, they need to have water safe to drink in the first place. And a reusable cup, no matter how good, does not fix your bad water supply. The people who need better water will not get it by filling these cups with more bad tap water.
If we want to get rid of these insane companies selling water, we should try to put pressure on fixing our pipes and our resiviors. Not just in America but worldwide.
Not only is there over buying of expensive cups for clout, but that doesn't help at all. I don't blame people for buying a cup or two. (The people who bought 30 Stanley's I am not happy but it's not a moral thing.) I have reusable bottles. I like the smaller ones.
Mentioning Stanley cups I don't like them for a few reasons but, I am autistic and I have trouble with spacial awareness. I am knocking these over all the time because they are big and bulky. And unlike my cylinder metal bottle, the Stanley is open, so the water spills everywhere. And they are too big. They hurt when they fall on my feet or hit me in the hallway.
I think we should try to put more focus on fixing the pipes and the water ways. Everyone is supposed to have a tap in their home, (where I live) and yet I have friends who can't use it for anything but showers and dishwashing. One of my friends brings jugs of water home from water fountains or taps in public places because they can't afford to buy bottled water, but they can't drink their own water.
Personal filters would help, we should use them. But it's another thing not everyone can afford.
If we have a right to drinkable water, why do so many of us not have a source of water we can drink from in our homes?
I'm not doing a "we MUST DO THIS or you're a bad person! You're doing activism wrong! You are looking at the BAD kinds of work and not doing this RIGHT ONE."
That's not what I'm doing.
I'm tired of plastic water bottles and of giant cups. I just want to be able to drink my water.
It would solve a lot of problems if people could just drink from their taps safely.

Since its emergence as a symbol of Remembrance after the First World War, poppies have taken on various shapes and sizes.
From handmade silk and cotton poppies to wartime poppies, 2023 sees the biggest change in the poppy鈥檚 design for a generation.
Made entirely from paper, the new plastic-free poppy is available alongside stock of the existing poppy to reduce waste and can be recycled in ordinary paper recycling collections.
As we approach Remembrance Sunday, please wear a poppy to show the Armed Forces community you care and help us raise vital funds to support Serving personnel, veterans, and their families all year round.

People be out here saying "don't get the free plastic bags from the store, just buy reusable ones!" as though my parents haven't been using the same 10 free plastic bags for the past seven years.
Most things are reusable if you have enough determination.
This is a shitpost I support environmentalism and also people who need disposable shit for health reasons I just thought this was funny please don't hate me-

I need some ideas on what to do with old canning lids. I save them to put on dry goods and when I'm canning for any extra that won't fill up a jar so I can toss in the fridge without using a good lid, however I only need so many for this purpose and I am swarmed. I will take any ideas

omg dying to know your thoughts about the fact that sparkling water is what comes out of public drinking fountains in paris??
Well, I mean, it's only like what? 10, 12 fountains across the whole city who do deliver sparkling water? (edit: alright there are 17 all in all as of today's google search lol) And thanks heavens and what not, they are SO heavily advertised as such there is no risk of ever mistakenly getting The Worst Water Ever instead of the fresh nectar of the gods that is fresh plain water 馃槍馃憣
Couldn't deal with it being the standard though, like why would you ever do that to people, I ask. No one deserves this 馃様
