big things that are coming
in case you want to mark your calendar.
astrological new year - the sun into aries marks off the equinox, and the start of a sort of new year, as it goes from the beginning of the zodiac back around for another trip.
lunar eclipse - and that new year kicks off with the start of another eclipse season shortly after! so this will be a major period of change and upheaval, broadly speaking focused on relationships vs the self (although of course it always depends on your personal natal astrology.) this one is a full moon eclipse in libra.
mercury retrograde in aries - this retrograde goes from the 27th degree of aries to the 15th and goes from april fool's day (seriously) until april 25th. be very careful around hotheaded people and in situations where accidents may occur. apply your mercury retrograde protocols (review, revise, introspect, etc) to aries themes as much as possible.
solar eclipse - in aries on april 8, whereas the lunar eclipse focused on relationships this one is focused more on the self. it is volatile energy, so it is not necessarily advised to set any intentions you're really attached to, but rather have a willingness to change and be changed.
jupiter-uranus conjunction - this is exact on april 20 but you will likely feel it for a few days on either side, longer the more taurean/jovial/uranian you are natally. it is a sudden and/or major change, socially and/or personally, in a way that taurus is not typically associated with being a sign which is slow and stubborn to move. but jupiter helps ease the transition, and make it a good one rather than traumatic. so go with it! uranus is for the future. it will be pulling us, forcefully if need be, out of the past and into a new sort of mini-age. this happens only every several years and in taurus even less often. the last one in taurus was in 1941. taurus wants natural changes - i hope to see a shift or a major law passed towards something positive to do with sustainability, the climate, or the quality of food we are fed.

𝒊. 𝒘𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒊𝒔 𝒂 𝒓𝒆𝒕𝒓𝒐𝒈𝒓𝒂𝒅𝒆?
when a planet is in retrograde (rx), it appears to be moving/rotating backwards from our point of view on earth. it's important to note the planet is not actually moving backwards - it just looks that way because of its position in relation to earth and the sun. with that in mind, the sun and moon cannot be in retrograde.
Tumblr media
𝒊𝒊. 𝒘𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒅𝒐𝒆𝒔 𝒊𝒕 𝒎𝒆𝒂𝒏 𝒘𝒉𝒆𝒏 𝒂 𝒑𝒍𝒂𝒏𝒆𝒕 𝒊𝒔 𝒊𝒏 𝒓𝒆𝒕𝒓𝒐𝒈𝒓𝒂𝒅𝒆?
when a planet is in retrograde, often it makes it harder to deal with its energy. it could cause a lot of internal conflicts that also impact connections with people throughout one's life.
having a planet in retrograde in your natal chart is not a bad thing or a bad placement - it just means one has to work a little harder to understand and harness the energy of the planet compared to ones that are direct.
technically, this post was made to read for natal retrogrades, but it can also be useful if you want to know general challeneges that can occur during transit retrogrades also!

𝒊𝒊𝒊. 𝒓𝒆𝒕𝒓𝒐𝒈𝒓𝒂𝒅𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒓𝒐𝒖𝒈𝒉 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒑𝒍𝒂𝒏𝒆𝒕𝒔
𝐌𝐄𝐑𝐂𝐔𝐑𝐘
this retrograde is what's most known when people talk about retrogrades. with this planet in retrograde natally, you could find it hard to communicate with others. this could be in that you have a stutter, or you could be too harsh or too passive when addressing others (depending on the sign). you could be too impulsive in your actions, or you could overthink and inhibit yourself from taking charge in your life. i could also see people with this planet in retrograde finding it hard to write and learn new languages.
𝐕𝐄𝐍𝐔𝐒
you could find it hard to fall in love and/or to find, be in, and maintain relationships of any kind - but especially romantic ones; it could take a long time for you to start dating compared to others. this planet in retrograde can also make it hard for people to develop and sustain self-love and self-attraction. you may not see yourself as handsome or beautiful and/or others may look down on you or ignore you because of your looks. this is another planet that could make it hard to get along with people because venus is also associated with harmony overall, but the issues with beauty and love are more prominent.
𝐌𝐀𝐑𝐒
you could find it hard to bring your drive and passion to the surface. you could find it hard to be self-motivated and may prefer to take things slow throughout life and see how things pan out versus taking control. if you know the musical hamilton, you could be similar to aaron burr in waiting for things to happen to or for you versus making things happen. i could see natal mars retrograde manifesting as someone being asexual and/or having a low libido. you could have issues with bottling up anger, creating anger issues; if underdeveloped, i could see this leading to self-harm or other violent tendencies - this is not absolute
𝐉𝐔𝐏𝐈𝐓𝐄𝐑
it could be hard for you to recognize your luck and/or you may feel as if you have no luck even if you actually do. this is a "the glass is half empty" type of placement. you might have taboo beliefs, and people may make you feel as if you’re weird or wrong for them. although people may make you feel that way, your belief system may still be strong depending on your jupiter sign. there's a possibility of not being fit for tradtional higher education. you may feel like you have to create your own luck and could have trouble trusting the universe and your guides to provide for you.
𝐒𝐀𝐓𝐔𝐑𝐍
you could be too harsh on yourself when it comes to having structure. you may burden yourself with responsibilities no one else is giving or expecting of you. you may put more boundaries and limitations on yourself than is naturally expected of you. i could see this placement manifesting as asceticism in some people. you might feel like people never live up to your expectations, or they always let you down, so you only trust yourself to get things done. with this placement, there's an emphasis on self-motivation and high ambition.
𝐔𝐑𝐀𝐍𝐔𝐒
it could be hard for you to express your individuality outwardly. maybe you’re too worried about how much you’ll stand out amongst others, and so you try to fit in with the majority instead of recognizing how different you can be. you may be more cautious about expressing your rebelling views. you could be more focused on individuality on a more personal level versus on a societal one. in the case of rebellion and innovation, you may feel the need to rebel against yourself and ideas you put on yourself versus ideas society puts on you.
𝐍𝐄𝐏𝐓𝐔𝐍𝐄
your dreams could be more intense and grandiose than other people's dreams are - this could be in visual dreams you get while sleeping and/or in terms of life goals. you could be deeply spiritual and in tune with your intuition; you might even be able to predict when things will happen to you, or you could get deja vu often. you could overly daydream when it comes to personal goals and ideals; you might use daydreaming and other forms of escapism as a way to constantly ignore everyday life. the idea of realism could be foreign to you.
𝐏𝐋𝐔𝐓𝐎
you may go through life transformations regularly. you could change your appearance often, or explore different religions all throughout your life, or your beliefs could change drastically as you get older. you could have strong power over yourself and possibly others - even unkowingly. you could find comfort in traditionally taboo things, espeically the occult and/or horror and things of that nature. in addition to constantly going through transformations, you could have fond memories of the past and have a deep connection to the concept of nostalgia. you could constantly look to the past in order to change who you are in the present or future.

People always ask me if I think it's a good idea to cast magic during Mercury retrograde. I definitely cast magic during Mercury retrogrades.
Protection magic is an obvious yes. Mercury does not impact that. Death work? 100 percent, Hermes was one of the only gods to enter the land of the dead and return to the upper world. A communication spell? Suuuuuure, if you're okay with it getting real weird. Retrogrades don't stop energy. They redirect it. They go at it from an unusual direction. (like the back of a Volkswagen)
Mercury is so changeable that trying to define their energy is challenging anyway. Your spell will manifest differently than when the planet is in direct motion.
That might even be the result that you are looking for. (if you've tried it all and nothing is working, maybe work with a retrograde, ya know?)
If you're a control freak, tho. Then nah...maybe just wait.

How to get through Mercury retrograde :
the easy way …
First things first! Figure out where in your chart Mercury will be retrograde. Once that’s done, ask yourself how this area of life may be affected.
For example: Mercury is going retrograde, April 1st-April 25th from 27 degrees Aries to 15 degrees Aries, in my 1st house. This is going to deeply impact me as a tropical Aries Ascendant/Sun/Mercury/Venus. Yeah…ya girl is hella Arian in the western system. When I consider the impact this will have on me, I will look at it through the lens of it impacting each aspect of my individuality. That is, myself as in my physical being, the way I show up in the world, my sense of self/individuality, and my relationships with others, and most importantly with myself.
Once you can discern the way Mercury will be impacting you, here is what to do to mitigate these effects.
Figure out the aspects and planets that are most supportive for your chart. Sure Mercury may be retrograde and this one in particular all up in my face. But, there’s also Jupiter conjunct my 2H Mars.
*Any energy I apply at generating positive energy toward my finances will be supported. I may have to double check things and ensure the details are squared away, but you get the gist.
My words may not be too well received if I don’t think them through. My sense of self and the way I show up in the world, and toward others may need an adjustment. But there are positive aspects still occurring. In the meantime, I will utilize them to benefit my greater good. The way any good astrologer would.
Furthermore, check where the Moon is at and how it impacts your chart.
*If Mercury is going retrograde in your 7th house and the Moon is in Leo and happens to be making a trine to Mercury, well then it’ll be a good time to have any difficult or potentially expressive conversations.
If said Moon is in Capricorn (it is as I’m writing this), you may want to postpone those conversations until better weather.
Mercury Do’s
Think twice
Speak politely but with confidence
Be mindful of any outgoing tendencies
Plan accordingly
Don’t let your emotions or ego sway decisions set in stone, if things have to change, let it be done wisely
Mercury Dont’s
Don’t text your ex (speaking to myself here)
Don’t rush, be patient
Don’t let yourself get too lazy or forgetful, write things down ✍🏽
Have the common sense to not push peoples buttons, they may respond by saying things out of character
Don’t say things out of character
Be open to suggestions
Do a short meditation daily if you have the capacity
Keep physical activity light, and not strenuous, aka don’t bite off more than you can chew
Best wishes to you guys (and to myself because this retrograde is already acting up)
Your friendly, funky-astrologer,
-S. 🤗🤍🌙

7 planets are in retrograde right now, tonight is a blue super moon in Pisces. This can entail wild dreams, escapism tendencies, and hard realities that you may dig very deep to find. If you’ve been going through something since the Pisces new moon in mid February this full moon will help resolve the feeling you have had about you experience. Stay safe out there my friends, and remember keep your heart open for new realities to begin.

All other planetary bodies in the Solar System also appear to periodically switch direction as they cross Earth's sky. Though all stars and planets appear to move from east to west on a nightly basis in response to the rotation of Earth, the outer planets generally drift slowly eastward relative to the stars. Asteroids and Kuiper Belt objects (including Pluto) exhibit apparent retrogradation. This motion is normal for the planets, and so is considered direct motion. However, since Earth completes its orbit in a shorter period of time than the planets outside its orbit, it periodically overtakes them, like a faster car on a multi-lane highway. When this occurs, the planet being passed will first appear to stop its eastward drift, and then drift back toward the west. Then, as Earth swings past the planet in its orbit, it appears to resume its normal motion west to east. Inner planets Venus and Mercury appear to move in retrograde in a similar mechanism, but as they can never be in opposition to the Sun as seen from Earth, their retrograde cycles are tied to their inferior conjunctions with the Sun. They are unobservable in the Sun's glare and in their "new" phase, with mostly their dark sides toward Earth; they occur in the transition from evening star to morning star.
The more distant planets retrograde more frequently, as they do not move as much in their orbits while Earth completes an orbit itself. The retrogradation of a hypothetical extremely distant (and nearly non-moving) planet would take place during a half-year, with the planet's apparent yearly motion being reduced to a parallax ellipse.

Retrogrades in Astrology
Retrograde planets in Astrology are like spaceship countdowns 🚀.
Countdowns begin days before, to ensure, with many tests, that the ship is ready & has all it needs. You might even say these tests are putting the ship through the illusion of flight.
Much like how the spaceship is going through tests, the planetary body (or rather, its associations) will also be tested. The body is only seemingly moving backwards, which is similar to the illusion of flight.
A planetary body stations at a degree, then it goes Rx and counts DOWN in degrees. Then when it’s done, it stations again and then goes direct and counts UP. So it’s like this:
The ship is built based off of what we know prior to countdown. Now its going to go through a testing period/countdown— In this period its going to be put through the illusion of flight, so that it is given a chance at the real thing. And then the time for the real thing comes and we have to rely on the tests we endured in the countdown.
Having retrograde planets in your chart can point to how you will be tested on a personal level. Its almost like in this lifetime you’ll have to work on this area routinely (but don’t stress it, do your best to get used to it). **reply with your natal retrograde planets for a deeper look into them(include house +degree if you would like)
Astrology teaches us that what’s happening around us from the moment we are born, affects us. Living through retrograde planets can test us as a collective, while also challenging us as individuals when related to our natal charts. The planets you have retrogrades in may be areas of your life that affect you deeply, as they were themes of the time you were born. The development of them is the ideal world, though. To some, it may be considered unfavorable to face these necessary challenges and tests. It can, however, be rewarding to pass them, if the end goal suits you.
So, retrogrades are not “bad” but they just challenge us to work on ourselves and reach great lengths 🚀🌕
Also sorry I didn’t post last week I was sick! <3

Pluto and jupiter in retrograde
Natal
Can you tell us about this ?
I usually read retrogrades in charts as energies that are hidden or that cause you some issues. For example, if you have Mercury in retrograde (especially if it is a weak Mercury, like in Pisces or in Sagittarius) it can be very difficult for you to express yourself to others.
As for Pluto and Jupiter in retrograde, it's very important to look at the sign that they're in (and the house!). If they're in a not so favorable position with a lot of negative aspects and they're in the fall sign (Pluto in Taurus, Jupiter in Gemini) it could cause some troubles for the individual.
Pluto in retrograde: being uninterested in transforming your belief system or being uninterested in spirituality, avoiding thinking about death or afterlife, avoiding scenarios with power play and asserting dominance, having issues with standing your ground, having a too dominant figure in your life, being too radical or rigid (depends on the house the Pluto is in, for ex. if it is in the 9th house you might have radical philosophical and political views that you don't want to change), being too obsessed with gaining back your power
Jupiter in retrograde: believing that you're unlucky, depending on the house - having only few options in that field, luck that comes with a price, hidden luck in specific areas, reaching achievements later in life
Thank you for your ask!

retrograde...retrograde...retrograde...in the natal chart ;)
sooo someone asked me about the retrogrades being in the 11th house. this anon also spoke about having a retrograde in the 6th house too, so yea, we're just going to cover retrogrades in the chart.
So retrogrades!
think of them as internal energy. internal battles is how I like to put it but that's because I have my own retrograde... in the 9th house.
so, in a more simple tense, instead of being able to use that planet in a more outward fashion, it all turns inward. this is even more true if you have aspects to that planet. Like I have moon squaring my pluto -which is my planet in retrograde-.
I would like to say that this mostly just means that you need to dive even more deeper into those lessons because they will not be as easily expressed.
so if you have....
mercury naturally in retrograde, it just means that you'll need to learn how to communicate. how to really think bout whatever area of life this hits.
venus naturally in retrograde, it means that you'll have a harder time with love and developing your relationships. creativity may come harder to you as well.
With Mars naturally in retrograde, this is all about your drive. your energy. so you may be more tired than usual, or you may be more impulsive. it's hard trying to control the energy and where you put that to use.
Jupiter in retrograde just means that things that deal with abundance and expansion...it's harder to come by. maybe you just don't think you'll ever have enough. maybe, depending on the house, you'll struggle to even get a little bit of it.
Uranus is a planet of originality, and expressing yourself in some ways. so with this in retrograde naturally, you may struggle with figuring out your place in this world. I wonder too, if change is harder for you. like maybe it's all just sudden chaos and changes. maybe technology might not work for you or you may struggle to keep up with the changes of it. idk, this last part is just a thought lol.
Neptune is all about dreams and the subconscious. Your spiritual path may be highlighted here, so depending on the house it is in, you may struggle to connect to yourself intuitively, or to others. you may struggle with figuring out the best way to keep yourself grounded as well.
and then we have Saturn. this speaks to us in terms of maturity. when this is naturally in retrograde this could be issues with having to grow in maturity. perhaps having to learn the hard way how to let go of people, places or things. it's all an inward battle right? so perhaps you may even doubt yourself for a long time.
and then Pluto! the one that I have lmao. this is all about transformation in personal power. Diving deep into any subject that this planet rules. Perhaps you may not change the outer world, but you will certainly be changing yours a lot.
Now, how do you see them in your day to day?
Well, I can't really tell you for certain. the anon who spoke to me isn't quite too sure how to deal with their 11th house retrogrades, and to be frank, I still really struggle with my pluto retrograde.
I suppose, the key here is to see where these planets are and then go from there.
for example! I have pluto retrograde in the 9th house, ruled by Sagittarius. so. as one would expect, I have changed a lot in spirituality, in college and by travel.
From a young age, I've been very politically active. I've desired to travel, knowing full well the change it would have on me. my friends, are quite literally, from different walks of life -but I think this could also be attributed to my 11th house placements-. I have changed my religious views and beliefs in general, quite a bit and ... college and higher education has drastically changed how I see the world. AND in general, college has been so fucking rough on me. period.
Now, going off of the anon, they have mars, neptune and Uranus in retrograde in the 11th. retrogrades in the 11th affect friendships, large groups and humanitarian issues.
Having three retrogrades in there could make you someone who struggles with friends. maybe you're just more introverted. people may try to label you and there might be some strong pressure to try to conform to it.
again, this is internal energy. so this could merely be something that you project onto yourself. maybe there are fears about never fitting in or being liked by your peers. with mars, you may struggle to assert yourself in your friend groups
and with neptune being in retrograde, you might just day dream about having the type of relationships that you want. or maybe, you might be very grounded and just worried about people leaving you.
I really feel like with Uranus in retrograde in general, there's a struggle to be yourself. people may see you for something that you aren't and you may be pushed into a stereotype, a label, etc. that you may feel doesn't really define you.
How to Learn the Lessons of Retrogrades
Well, the only way to really learn anything is to recognize the pattern it presents, and then do something about it.
I don't think I really solved the issues with my Pluto Retrograde. I am very spiritual, and I'm trying to grow my craft. I still haven't visited the places I dream of and a part of me worries that something will change when it does.
I am finally going back to college after years of fighting to just go . like. to really understand the lessons of a retrograde, one must just accept the challenges that it provides and learn to cope with that.
If it's mercury in the 6th house, perhaps the best way to overcome that retrograde and to learn from it, is simply to talk more about your routines, change up how you work out, or whom you keep around you.
if it's the 1st house, perhaps being kinder to yourself is the way to go. perhaps in the 11th house, it could be about stepping into your own power when you are in a group . and so on and so forth.
honestly, it's highly individualized for everyone.
but I hope this clears some things up. I hope this helps a little bit. if there's anything to take away from this it's that, retrogrades are internal and while you may see how it happens in real life, it's all about how you deal and grow from it, that ... shows you the lessons that planet is meant to provide for you.
so. yea.
