"Mierda" Epiphany groaned as she pulled her face back from the drool-drenched pillow. The blaring of her alarm stopped as she crashed her fist against it. 3 p.m. it read. "Fuck!" she quickly shot out of her mountain of covers and rushed to the bathroom. The process of freshening up and getting herself decent for auditions felt like a blur. She hadn't even gotten a proper breakfast; just stale nachos and salsa. One minute she was in her shared bathroom and the next she was rushing into Sweet P's gentlemen's club which was located eight blocks from her apartment.
"Well if it isn't my fave party animal, my main squeeze." Annie Boland greeted as she approached the hungover college student, "You look like shit, dude."
"Oh I feel like shit too, trust me." Epiphany replied after she caught her breath. "Sorry I'm lat-"
"Auditions are over."
Epiphany was cut off by an uppity voice that she wasn't familiar with. Which caused her to turn her attention towards it. The college freshmen came face to face with a heavy busted red-haired woman who looked to be in her mid-forties. Her aesthetic screamed Stepford wife. Maybe it was her cardigan or her layered sidebang hairstyle. whatever it was, she just screamed suburbia.
"Aw Beth come on, let her audition," Annie replied with a groan.
"No." Beth said quickly before looking at Epiphany up and down, "Sorry, we've already picked our set of girls."
Epiphany scoffed with a roll of her eyes before she snickered "Oh you mean Gene's ol girls? Good luck with that." Her attention shifted over to Annie once again, "See you around Annie." and with that turned on her heel.
"And you think you can do better, kid?" How old are you? another voice called out causing epiphany to look over her shoulder.
"She's from Vegas, of course, She can do better, Ruby!" Annie vouched.
She hadn't known Epiphany very long, only two months to be exact but Annie had made great friends with the college student. The two clicked instantly after meeting and chit-chatting at the mini-mart. The two bonded over liking balsamic vinegar and onions over their french fries.
The hefty-set umber-skinned woman sighed before she turned her attention to the strawberry blonde, "Let her audition Beth. The more women that can bring in profits the better."
Beth pursed her lips as she sucked in a scowl. She looked between Ruby and Annie for a few moments before shifting her attention over to Epiphany. "How old are you?"
A look of amusement flashed across Epiphany's face as she watched the women in front of her, "I'm twenty-two." she replied before asking, "Have any of you got any dancing experience? Ever worked in show business or the strip club before."
"No, of course not!" Beth snapped, "What does that have to do with anything?" she proceeded to ask.
Epiphany took a few steps forward as she shrugged her shoulders," It means you aren't qualified to be hosting auditions. And I doubt you even enjoy going to strip clubs to watch the performances."
"I have," Annie spoke up with a grin as she raised her hand. "Have you guys ever seen a pair of boobies covered in glitter bounce? looks like two light bulbs from heaven."
Epiphany eyed Annie and shook her head as she bit back laughter. " A glorious sight ain't it?" she goofed. her expression turned serious as she then turned her attention back towards Annie's busty sister. "How about I just perform opening night and if you magically don't like it, I'll leave." she propositioned.
"That's not a bad idea Beth. I'm tired and need to get home and start on dinner." Ruby spoke up. The mother of two already had a bias towards strip clubs and sitting in one for the last two hours made her skin crawl.
Beth's lips formed into a straight line as she scrunched her nose and closed her eyes. Her fists balled up at her sides as she rumbled out an exaggerated groan. "Fine!", the moment she opened her eyes and shot Epiphany a slight glare. "Be there an hour before and not a minute later." The college student paid the strawberry-haired woman no mind and instead smiled when Annie cheered and clapped. "Woohoo! Yes!" Annie cheered before high-fiving Epiphany with both hands. 'We're totally gonna celebrate after…I say Chick-fil-A"

Opening night came quicker than Beth and the girls would've hoped. Beth had been betting on Rio not showing up but unfortunately for her…he did. He and Mick had arrived just a few moments after the club got packed with eager men who were ready to spend their money. The mother of two did her best to ignore him as she sipped on her strawberry margarita. Her shoulders relaxed as the vodka settled her down. Friskily she adjusted her the cleavage of her v-neck blouse lower than its proper fit before her green eyes settled over to where he sat. Her breath hitched when their eyes met. He had been already looking at her when she turned to look at him. Rio was the type of man to cause shivers to run across her skin. Her palms grew sweaty and the valley between her thighs grew even more moist. She couldn't help but shift in her seat.
Meanwhile, Epiphany had arrived late with rollers in her hair while dressed in a fluffy pink 'Playboy Bunny' robe as she rushed into the club through the back door. Speed walking to the locker room, her fuschia-pink kitten heels clicked loudly behind her. Bags under her eyes from cramming in back-to-back study sessions after a long night to early morning house party hopping. The girl was beaten but that was nothing that her favorite concealer couldn't fix. Once she'd removed her robe and carried her Prada cosmetic bag to the lined vanity in the dressing room; Epiphany worked quickly in the mirror to apply shimmery fuschia and gold eyeshadow.. She then sprayed her thick thighs and perky breasts with glittery golden bronzer. A bubbly voice quickly caught her attention causing Epiphany to look up into the mirror. A topless brunette smiled widely at her. "Hey, what's up?" Epiphany greeted her.
"Hi! I'm Krystal." She grinned, "You must be the new girl Annie's been talking about. Definitely Gorg, you're totally giving Selma Hayak vibes from that vamp movie. Beth didn't think you'd show. She and Annie wouldn't stop fussing over it, total bummer."
The woman was an endless chatterbox and Epiphany wasn't able to get a word in. So, instead, she focused on undoing her rollerset and teasing out her curls until she achieved her desired look. As she switched her kitten heels for stilettos the beat of her introductory song started to play and Epiphany sashayed her way onto the stage. The place was packed with men.
Their lust-filled eyes fueled her ego. The coke-bottle-shaped Latina swayed her hips and arched her back to wiggle her ass to the crowd. With a swift motion Epiphany wrapped her right leg around the pole as she grabbed onto her breasts. She swirled down along the pole as if she were licking along a lollipop. and as the beat of the music sped up her negligee tugged off. The roaring of the crowd and the rain of money arose as she fondled her breasts and rocked her hips against the pole. Her bra dropped the moment the beat did. Epiphany worked her body around the pole like a snake. Slow and sultry. Her plump ass in the air generously jiggled towards the crowd like jelly freshly spread on toast. The hibiscus scent of her hair flowed throughout the air as she flipped her bombshell curls around.
"Jesus, she's pretty vulgar huh?" Beth grimaces to Annie and Ruby.
'Dude she's hot." Annie sighed with dreamy eyes.
When Epiphany flipped her head back and eyed the crowd she was met with dark brown eyes. To put it plainly, The man seated at the back table was devilishly handsome. She could feel his eyes on her. Fuck he was hot. His type of hot stood out in any crowd. A heavy hitter. Epiphany wasn't like most girls growing up who fawned over pop stars and Disney stars. No. She yearned for men like Tony Montana. Her life changed the day she saw Scarface at the tender age of twelve. Men with power, drugs, and the promise of a diamond-studded lifestyle were what fueled her. She yearned to spread her legs like butterfly wings for him.
Curving the corner of her lips, Epiphany sent him a sultry smirk. Swirling around the pole she stood on her right leg as she slowly rose her right in the air. Empathizing the curve of her hips she buckled forward with her hand gliding down her sweaty, glitter-glistening skin. Her gaze locked into his as she slipped her hand into her shimmery lavender g-string. A teasing peak at her waxed kitty kat as she rolled and shook her hips. The way the eagle-neck-tatted gangster bit his lip as he watched her made her pussy wet as she toyed with her strings. She yearned to spread her butterfly wings for him.
Epiphany had blown him a kiss directly before twirling off stage as their eyes met once more. His cocky grin made her heart flutter with glee. "Omg that was fucking awesome girl!" Krystal squealed as soon as Epiphany had gotten into the dressing room. "Can you show me how to do that butt jiggle thingy you do? Looks wild."
Snickering, Epiphany nodded as she went to retrieve a water bottle from the mini fridge,"Yeah sure". she replied breathlessly before quenching her thirst. The two women exchanged numbers before they'd gone back to occupying themselves. Epiphany freshened up in the bathroom with her feminine products before she had changed into a mini wine-red babydoll dress.
She reapplied her lip gloss as she made her way outside to the bar. The dancer barely made it to one of the stools before being engulfed into a tight hug by Annie,``Dude that was epic! you gotta show me some of the moves to work on Kevin." The youngest boland sibling took a seat on the bar stools beside Epiphany.
"Ew Annie, not the homeless dude."Epiphany grimaced, "Maybe we can teach him those moves so he can get on the pole and earn some cash."
"You know that'd actually be pretty hot?" Annie agreed with a laugh before she ordered a beer.
Her eyes skimmed around the crowded area until her attention narrowed in on the handsome gangster conversing with Beth. Fires of desire flamed her eyes, matching the fire in between her thighs, "Who's that?" she asked with a soft nudge to Annie's shoulder. Beth's sister followed Epiphany's gaze, her nose slightly scrunching.
"Oh that's Rio." Annie proceeds to take a sip of her beer, "Or as i say gang friend. Well…my gang  friend. Beth's kinda dating him now,,.unofficially."
"Yeah right." Epiphany snickered before taking a sip from her Corona, "She's way out his league." her chocolate brown eyes ranked his slim frame. He looked so delicious in black. She  wanted to just run her tongue across his neck tattoo.
"Hey. What happened to feminism? dude? Us girls have to stitch together." Annie frowned, "That isn't nice, Beth's a total milf."
Epiphany let out a melodic sinister laugh as she flipped her curls over her shoulder, "Feminism is a fucking joke Annie, No offense to your sister. But no one hates women more than other women. It's like in our DNA to be territorial and competitive." she took another sip of her beer before proceeding,"He's simply too divine for me not to indulge in." sighing dreamily she looked at Rio once more.
Annie kept quiet at first before her eyes widened, "You're gonna seriously get at him?"
"And swallow him whole." Epiphany winked before slipping out of her seat.
Making her way through the crowd she could feel eyes on her as she briefly passed by both RIo and Beth. The sound of the music and chit chatter died down as she walked down the hall that led to the dressing rooms. Her clicky footsteps were masked by heavy footsteps.
"Hey superstar…that was some performance." His voice was smokey despite his arrogantly teasing tone. Deep, aged like fine whiskey. His touch was warm despite his fingers only brushing at her wrist. Which caused her to turn around to face him. The two eyed one another like two lions who'd caught their prey. Under the blue lights the mutual feeling of raw-primal desire made the air grow thick. Hotter.
"Well I had a captivating audience to motivate me." Epiphany replied as she looked up at him. Breathing in his scent as he got closer; she couldn't but breathe him in. He smelt of a deep and rich musky aroma like cuban tobacco yet also sweet. Like vanilla. A milky vanilla similar to that was soft and comforting. Similar to the scent of coconut milk put through a milk frother
"Oh yeah I bet you did." he let out a rasped chuckle as his eyes flickered from her eyes down to her body. "What's your name?"
"Epiphany."
"Your mama gave you a beautiful name, Epiphany." The way her name rolled off his tongue like smooth butter made her want to come undone.
"Not much else." The light in her eyes dimmed for a split second before she smiled at him, "What's yours? Bet I could guess."
"Be my guest." he nodded.
"Rio." His name sensually purred off her lips.
"I see you've been asking about me then." Rio let out a deeply rumbling laugh as he edged closer to her. Her chest pressed against a few inches above his waist.
"Nah I'm just psychic." Epiphany teased.
The two shared a chuckle before he licked his blush-pink lips. "So, you need a ride?"
"On top of you or in your car?" Her challenging yet teasing banter caused Rio's left brow to rise. And nothing was more alluring than his laughter she was convinced.
"Both."
No other words were uttered nor needed to be said after that. Ephipany allowed herself to be whisked away by him. The pair left the back entrance and got into his Benz truck. A night of their bodies saying everything words weren't good enough to say was in store.

...and Domestic

...and Domestic
We were reminded again yesterday of the growing threat domestic terrorism poses. From the AP:
A failed Republican state legislative candidate who authorities say was angry over losing the election last November and made baseless claims that the election was “rigged” against him was arrested Monday in connection with a series of drive-by shootings targeting the homes of Democratic lawmakers in New Mexico’s largest city.
Albuquerque Police Chief Harold Medina held a news conference Monday evening hours after SWAT officers arrested Solomon Pena at his home.
The AP also noted:
Police said Pena, an election denier, had approached county and state lawmakers after his loss claiming the contest had been rigged against him despite no evidence of widespread voter fraud in New Mexico in 2020 or 2022. The shootings began shortly after those conversations.
The shootings began Dec. 4, when eight rounds were fired at the home of Bernalillo County Commissioner Adriann Barboa. Days later, state Rep. Javier Martinez’s home was targeted. On Dec. 11, more than a dozen rounds were fired at the home of Bernalillo County Commissioner Debbie O’Malley, police said.
The final related shooting, targeting state Sen. Linda Lopez’s home, unfolded in the midnight hour of Jan. 3. Police said more than a dozen shots were fired, including three that Lopez said passed through the bedroom of her sleeping 10-year-old daughter.
Fortunately, no one was injured in the shootings, but four families have been traumatized, or perhaps I should say four more as they are hardly alone.
Many politicians seem to want to keep at least part of the nation in a state of fear. Trump throws threats around like candy, knowing that often, his devoted MAGA followers will take him up on the suggestion and attempt to make the threats real. Campaigns, such as ones run by Lauren Boebert, Marjorie Taylor Greene and others, show the armed legislative hopefuls making threats against opponents (and, by extension, their supporters) or against various beliefs or causes many Americans support.
Threats regularly roll into the offices of officials who extremists have called out for various offenses, frequently falsely. According to Forbes
The number of threats against members of Congress has skyrocketed in recent years. More than 9,600 threats poured in to Capitol Police in 2021—over ten times the 902 threats reported in 2016, just before Trump took office
Eric Swalwell has released tapes of death threats that he’s received, and Nancy Pelosi’s husband was shot in his home by someone looking for Nancy.
Even private citizens have faced harassment, such as Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss, election workers who trump claimed had been behind part of the alleged (but non-existent) fraud in Georgia that cost him the election. Both were driven from their jobs and Ruby had to leave her home. Not only were they getting calls, but there were even people coming to their door to harass and threaten them. During the 2017 anti-Semitic march in Charleston, VA, one person, Heather Hoyer, was killed and others injured when a participant in the march drove his car into a group gathered to protest it.
Of course, the biggest domestic terrorism attack in recent years was the January 6th, 2021 insurrection. As much as it was an attempt to overthrow the government, it was also an attempt to make lawmakers fear the opposition, to let them know that the opposition could get to them, even in the presumably secure Capitol building, and that if they didn’t do what this group of domestic terrorists wanted, their lives could be forfeit.
Yet nothing has been done about any of this. Yes, there have been trials and punishments for people who participated in the insurrection, but those who organized it have, so far, gotten away with it and many keep amassing more power.
Members of the House Freedom Caucus
Several of the Freedom Caucus members who held Kevin McCarthy’s speakership hostage until he caved in to seemingly all of their demands, consequences be damned, supported the insurrectionists, and yet will now be given positions on important committees, able to wield power over a government they tried to help destroy.
In the aftermath of 9/11, Congress got right to work creating various laws to shield us from foreign terrorists But no such laws or policies exist to combat domestic terrorism, not even following 1/6. And if you go back further, nothing was done the last time the right wing began engaging in domestic terrorism, which was during the Clinton administration. In 1995, we suffered our worst domestic attack in the country’s history. The Oklahoma City bombing killed 168 people, and no domestic terrorism laws were passed then, either.
The extreme right wing – which is almost becoming something more of a near centrist position in the Republican Party – finds terrorism useful. They know that keeping people afraid – of those who are “different,” of the minorities coming to “steal your jobs,” schools “indoctrinating your children” by teaching them the sometimes harsh truth about our nation or “grooming” your child to become gay by exposing them to the mere knowledge that homosexuality exists, and so on – as they promise to take out these threats keeps people voting for them, giving them the power they so desperately crave. And they hope, eventually, to have enough power to keep a permanent majority, essentially turning us into a one-party country.
One reason we survived the wave of domestic terrorism in the 90s was the 9/11 attacks. For a time, foreign terrorism was a great source of fear, uncertainty, and doubt. And, in the 90s, there was much less of a visible connection between elected leaders and the right-wing white supremacists, militias and “patroits” (who are actually more anti-government than anything) who were the ones primarily carrying out the attacks. But after we hadn’t suffered any foreign attacks for a while, the right-wing turned back to their old friend, domestic terrorism. Only this time, their leaders aren’t hiding their connections to those who are committing the attacks nearly as much.
All of this is, of course, a threat to our Democracy. The more power the right-wing gains and the more its followers can scare people away from running for office, serving as election workers, speaking out about what they believe or even voting, the easier it becomes for the right-wing to make a power grab. So, what can we do? Regrettably, I don’t have the answer for how to get us out of this situation immediately, but maybe we can hold the Republicans at bay for the next 2 years if we refuse to let fear get the better of us. We need to make our voices heard, hold more large-scale protests, pressure legislatures to push back against the Republicans, and join or otherwise support pro-Democracy groups. We also need to pressure the DOJ into acting against the leaders of the insurrection, all the way to the top.
If we can make it to 2024 with our Democracy intact, then the best thing we can do is vote for Democrat candidates in such numbers that we give them a sufficient majority in the House and Senate *and* keep the White House so that they can enact domestic terrorism legislation as soon as possile, and then we need to push them until they do.

Tumblr media Tumblr media
. . .
First, you were yelling for Ruby. He insisted on you sharing a siblings dance, as the last time you actually got to dance with him was at your own quince, but that had been years ago.
Then, you’re forcing Ruby to spin ninety degrees so your back is facing the hooded figure, who you instantly recognized as Latrelle, the man who had pulled a gun on you and your boyfriends brother, Cesar, nights before.
By the time, time could catch back up to you, the bullet had already pierced your upper shoulder, and sent your mother, Geny, into a state of panic, her screams the only thing in your ears when you collapsed.
“Mija!” Geny forced herself up to her feet and ran across the dance floor, dropping to her knees beside Ruby, her hands trembling as they fidgeted on where to grab, “Mija! Mija, baby-,”
“Someone call 911!” Your father shouts, but they almost fall on deaf ears, “Call 911!”
“Call Oscar!” Ruby looks over his shoulder, gaze frantic before they land on Cesar, “Now!”
“Mija!” Geny pleas, your teary eyes shifting up to her, when her hands slide to your face, desperately, “Stay with me, okay? Baby, my baby!”
“Mama,” You murmur, Geny nodding, not looking away even after hearing sirens,
“Mamas here. I’m here, mija,”
“Mama,” Your eyes pinch shut at the sudden pain in your back, crying out, “Ruby. I-is he okay?”
“Yes, he’s okay,” Your father heaves, eyes glossy, “You did a good job. You did such a good job, mija,”
Your heaving chest slows, Genys desperate yells fading as your eyes finally remained shut, grip on Cesars hand falling limp,
Present
A week after New Years, Geny stands at the kitchen sink, silently washing the sink full of dishes in front of her, almost not acknowledging the figure that steps up beside her, fearing it was Amber, Mario’s pregnant girlfriend,
“Are you mad at me, mama?” Your voice pulls her out of her trance, her eyes shifting to you, your arm that wasn’t in the sling picking up a clean dish to dry,
“Of course not, Mija,” Geny sets down the bowl back into the soapy water, turning to face you so your eyes shyly met hers,
“But you’re mad at Oscar,” You point out, your mother sighing and closing her eyes, hand propped on the sinks counter,
“I’m upset about the Santos dragging my daughter into their rivalry,” She corrects, and you set down the clean plate, body facing her,
“Mama, the Santos protect me. With Oscar as their leader, they’d never let me in harms way,”
“Oh yeah?” Geny hums, eyebrow raised, “Look how that went,”
“Mama,” You plea, eyes glossy, “Oscar and the Santos had no part in the shooting. It was a irritable Prophet trying to get his point across,”
“Well he did,” Geny hisses, narrowed eyes softening when the kitchen light gleams in your eyes, “Mija, you’ll only understand when you have your own children. You, Mario, Ruben, the twins; you’re all my beautiful blessings,”
You smile, weakly, when Genys hand grazes your cheek, “From the moment you took your first breath,” A small crack in Genys voice pulls your lips into a frown, “From what could have been your last, I just want you and your brothers and sister safe,”
“I just need you to trust Oscar as much as you trust me,” You whisper, blinking away the burn in your eyes, “And I know that feeling,”
Genys brows pinch in confusion,
“When I saw that Prohet with the gun,” You recite, sucking in a deep breath, “Ruby was the only person in that moment. I had this sudden swarm of urgency to protect him, because he, and Olivia, were in the line of danger,”
Your face twists at the sudden wave of emotions that hit you, “But I couldn’t protect Olivia, mama, and the more I think about it, the more guilty I feel because Ruby has to go on without the girl he loved,”
“Mija,” Geny whispers, arm reaching out to slide around your shoulders, “Bebe, you are a hero, understand?”
“How am I a hero when I let Olivia die?” You whimper, your head sucking down into her shoulder so Geny tangled a hand in your hair, shushing you, softly,
“I trust him, Mija,” Geny whispers, thumb brushing over the side of your head, gently, “He is your familia, and any familia of yours is apart of mine,” She leans back, hands at your shoulders, “But it’s going to take time for me to fully believe he is the right man for you,”
You press your lips together, nodding, letting Geny press her lips to your forehead, and squeeze your shoulders,
“Hey, Y/N?” You pull away in time for Ruby to stick his head in the kitchen entranceway, his eyes snapping between you, and Geny wiping her cheek, “Bad time?”
“No,” You copy Genys actions, sniffling, “What’s up?”
“Uh, the school called. They’re looking for volunteers for the Valentines Dance. Do you maybe wanna chaperone?” Ruby holds up his phone, and you glance at Geny, eyebrows raised,
“What’s in it for me?”
Ruby pauses, tapping his chin, “You get free food and drinks?”
You mock his pause, sharing a smile with your mother at the interaction, “I’m in. Get me an application form,”
“Yes!” Ruby thanks you, then darts to his room.
“I’m proud of you, Mija,” Geny murmurs, and you look back up at her, smiling as a sign of thanks, “Go have fun,”
. . .
Fun. Funny. You haven’t heard that word in months. It definitely wasn’t what you were having right now.
You discretely remember the song playing the night of Olivias quince. Other than your mothers screaming, it had been the only thing you heard before you passed out.
You never thought you’d have such a negative reaction to a song. But as it played loudly through the speakers at the Valentines Dance, all you saw was the blood, all you could hear was the screams of fear from Olivia, shouting for you as you laid near her,
“Y/N!” Ruby’s sudden voice pulls you out of your thoughts, his hands grabbing at your wrists, and you now realize your hands are tight in your hair, and your breaths are uneven,
“Come on!” He orders, loudly over the music that blasted above you. He drags you towards the doorway of the gym, Monse suddenly beside you.
You drop down onto the steps of your brothers high school, gasps becoming wheezed as Cesar dropped to a squat in front of you, “What happened?”
“The song,” Monse answers, “It’s the same one from the night everything happened,”
“I’m so sorry Ruby,” Your arms slide around said boys shoulders, his own comfortingly wrapping at your dressed hips, “I’m so sorry I couldn’t protect her,”
“I’m gonna call Spooky,” Cesar stands up, Monse squeezing your arm before following Cesar back inside, briefly explaining the situation to a confused Jasmin,
You sniffle, cheek resting on top of Ruby’s head, focusing on his regular breathing to match your own, “I’m sorry, buddy,”
“You don’t have you be sorry,” Ruby answers, instantly, squeezing your hip when Jasmin seats herself as your other side,
“But I do,” You mutter, voice weak as your eyes pinch shut, “I could’ve protected you both from that Prophet. But I didn’t. And it’s in my conscience that I let Olivia get hit by that bullet,”
Ruby slides his hand up your back in a soothing motion, allowing your hand to tangle in his hair for your own comfort,
“I know you don’t want to talk to me, Spooky,” Cesar runs a hand down his face, eyes firm on Monse standing in front of him, patiently, “But I’m not calling for my own entertainment,”
“Then why the hell are you?” Oscar grunts, Cesar clenching his jaw at his brothers harsh attitude.
“It’s Y/N,” A moments pause, “She’s freaking out and you and Ruby are the only ones able to calm her down. But I don’t think Ruby can hold her steady for much longer,”
“Where are you?”
“The school dance,”
“And why the hell is Y/N with you?” Oscar growls, and Cesar can hear the distant slamming of his car door,
“She was chaperoning!” Cesar protests, almost as if Oscar was setting the blame on him, “They started playing the song that was playing the night of the quinceañera, we took her outside for air,”
“I’m on my way,” Oscar hangs up with a dull click, Cesar dropping his arm to heave a sigh, almost instantly hearing the loud roar of Oscars vehicle,
“Well that was quick,” Monse mumbles, peering out the door to see Jasmine stand up and step away from you, when Oscar rolls down the window to his car, your eyes shifting to look up at him,
“Hey mamas,” He calls, your lips pulling only slightly at the nickname, “C’mon, we’re going for a ride,”
“But the dance,” You murmur, glancing down at Ruby, who shakes his head and smiles,
“Go. I’ll tell the principle we had a family emergency or something,”
You nod, pulling him into you for a small embrace, before you push to stand up, pulling off your heels before climbing into the front seat of the vehicle,
“I’ll make sure to have her home by curfew,” Oscar winks, and you roll your eyes, watching Ruby copy your action and wave effortlessly, turning to following his friends back inside,
Four beats of silence fills the car halfway down the street, your hand mindlessly pulls at the bandages at your shoulder, which itched your skin more than the dress you wore,
“What’s on your mind?” Oscar finally questions, gaze leaving the road to look at you, legs pulled to your chest and eyes straight ahead. His hand not on the wheel touches your thigh, pulling back slightly at your tense flinch, waiting for you to relax before settling his hand back in its place,
“I’m seeing it again,” You speak, voice quiet, “That prophet, Olivia, me being in the hospital,”
Oscar draws his thumb across the skin of your thigh lightly, glancing at you when the car is stopped by a red light, “You know that’s all over,”
“It doesn’t matter, Oscar,” You lift a shoulder, turning your head so you were looking back at him, “You’re used to the gunshots and the different sides. I’m not. Watching my brother almost get shot, watching Olivia get shot, it’s traumatized me, as much as I fucking hate to admit it,”
“Faćil, mamas,” Oscar squeezes your thigh, car rolling to a complete stop just outside of the neighborhood you lived in, “You know I’m always gonna protect you. You’ve went through some shit, I get that. But you’re a strong ass woman, and you’re gonna let some song deflate you?”
“No,” You murmur, glancing down at where you finally stopped picking at your bandage and dropped your hand into your lap, “I’m just tired of everyone treating me like I’m vaso,”
“Then you gotta show everyone that that Prophet don’t mean shit,” Oscar orders, and you smile, shaking your head,
“How can you be so demanding yet therapeutic at the same time?”
“I’m just like that, maravillosa,” Oscar grins, ignoring your teasing roll of eyes as you sit up, glancing out to the road in front of you,
“Take me back to your place?” You murmur, Oscar chuckling as his hand slides up to grip the hemming of your dress,
“Don’t gotta ask twice,”

“Are you sure it’s okay that I stay over? I don’t want to be a trouble for your mother or abuelita or the twins or your-“Your worrying was quickly cut off by Ruby’s finger being placed on your lips to shush you.
“Princesa, my family loves you. Stop worrying,” he smiled, putting a reassuring hand on your shoulder and rubbing it gently.
You smiled at his comment and leaned in to peck his lips quickly. Ruby blushed wildly at your gesture and leaned in towards you to kiss you slowly but he was quickly interrupted. Both of your heads snapped towards the door to see his mother leaning against the door frame.
“Time for bed, lovebirds,” she smiled, causing both Ruby’s and your face to turn a bright shade of pink.
“Goodnight,” Ruby muttered before quickly shoving his mother out of the room and closing the door.
A small smile crept onto his lips as he watched you try to stifle a laugh. The two of you began to get ready for bed. Once you were ready, Ruby turned off the lights and crawled into bed. You quickly followed his actions and awkwardly laid down next to him.
For a few minutes, you both laid side by side, not daring to even touch each other. Slowly, you felt Ruby put his arm under your neck and draped it over your shoulders. Your heart was racing, and your pretty sure Ruby’s was as well. You smiled and rolled over, so your head was resting on his chest. You listened to Ruby’s heart rate slowly fell back into its normal pattern.
You felt slender fingertips brush through your hair gently before Ruby muttered, “Goodnight, my princesa.”
The next morning, the two of you didn’t wake until an interruption. While you were sleeping, your head resting on his chest and his arm cradling the back of your neck, Monse and Jamaal were making their way to Ruby’s house.
“Have you talked to Y/N in the past day?” Monse asked as they walked into the garden of Ruby’s house.
“I texted her but she didn’t reply. What about you?” Jamaal asked as he purposely tried to trip up the steps of his porch.
“I tried calling but she didn’t pick up,” Monse rolled her eyes as Jamaal picked himself up from the ground.
The two friends knocked on the front door. One of the twins swung the door open, holding a barbie doll’s head in their fist. Jamaal raised his eyebrow before stepping inside.
“Where’s Ruby?” He asked the small child, patting his head.
“They’re in his room,” he stated before running away.
Monse and Jamaal shared a questioning look before Monse said, “They?”
Jamaal shrugged, assuming that the toddler just didn’t know how to use the correct pronouns yet. They made their way to Ruby’s bedroom. Jamaal turned the cold doorknob and swung the door open, making it hit the wall. The sudden noise awoke the couple that were lying happily in the bed. As Ruby and you suddenly sat up, startled by the noise, you both hit your heads together. Ruby shared a look of confusion with you while you were rubbing your temple.
“Oh my god,” Jamaal screamed, causing Ruby to squeal and snap his head towards the doorway where Monse and Jamaal stood.
“You and her? Him and you?” Monse exclaimed, wagging her finger between the two of you.
Ruby sensed you tense up beside him. You had always been worried about the reaction the gang would have and you would have definitely chosen a different way to announce the relationship. Ruby’s hand inched towards yours, that was hidden under the blankets. His fingers laced with yours and you shot him a weak smile.
“Yes, me and her,” Ruby sighed, scratching the back of his head with his free hand.
“Hey, guys- Woah! What’s going on in here,” Cesar said as he entered Ruby’s bedroom.
“They-They’re, they are um- “Jamaal stumbled on his words, still astounded at his new discovery.
“Dating, we’re dating,” Ruby spoke up, rubbing his thumb over the back of your hand.
“How long?” Monse asked, crossing her arms over her chest.
“Three months,” Ruby stated.
The group erupted into a loud scream. All three of them flailing their arms about, yelling at their two friends that have kept a secret for such a long time. You sharply inhaled, squeezing your eyes shut. Ruby squeezed your hand, causing you to look at him and he kissed your forehead gently. The group of friends yelling abruptly stopped as they witnessed the gesture.
“Damn, you guys really like each other,” Monse said, a small smile playing on her lips.
“Yeah, we do,” Ruby smiled, not breaking his eye contact with you.
“I’m going to throw up,” Jamaal stated, holding his stomach.
“Least you have another excuse to get out of football,” You joked, causing an eruption of laughter.
“Anyways, I’m happy for you guys. I was just joining in on the trend of yelling,” Cesar said, giving a lopsided smirk.
“Oh, sure you were,” Ruby said, rolling his eyes.
“Okay, enough. You two get out of bed because we’re going to be late,” Monse ordered.
“Okay, okay,” Ruby said, letting go of your hand and climbing out of bed.
You quickly followed him out of the room. Just as you were about to enter the bathroom, Ruby pulled you aside in the hallway.
“Is everything okay?” He questioned, not breaking the loving gaze the two of you had.
“Yes, because I can finally kiss you in public,” you smirked.
Ruby smiled back and quickly closed the gap between you. Your arms found their way to his neck, pulling him closer towards you. Ruby’s grip tightened around your waist, deepening the kiss.
“Okay, now I really am going to throw up,” Jamaal stated, causing you to laugh into the kiss.
Ruby hesitantly pulled away from you, “We should probably get ready.”

You were awoken by the sound of notifications going off loudly. You stirred around on your bed, trying to ignore the cacophony of dings your phone kept emitting. Groggily, you made a mental note to silence your phone from now on. When you could finally look at the screen without it blinding you, you scrolled through the seemingly endless string of texts Ruby had sent to the group chat, “The Gnomies”. Yes, Jamal came up with it. Yes, everyone tried to change it, but he just kept changing it back so they gave up. You groaned as you read the messages. ‘Be here at one on the dot,’ the last message read, ‘mandatory meeting’. That was less than half an hour from now. Lazily getting out of bed, you started getting ready. After brushing your teeth and making your hair look somewhat presentable, you threw together an outfit that resembled a picture you had seen on Pinterest after looking up ‘grunge aesthetic’. You liked trying out different styles constantly, feeling like every single one of them suited you, but none of them could get you to commit to them for more than a month. Satisfied with the way you looked, you left your room, grabbed your keys and skateboard, and started to skate your way to Ruby’s house. Midway, though, you decided to take a detour and get some food—junk food, to be precise—knowing that you would not be able to handle a hyperactive Ruben on an empty stomach.
You left the joint with two bags full of food, hoping bribery would get you out of being lectured by Ruby about punctuality. You balanced the bags on both hands like a scale as you focused on not falling from your board on the way there. Making the last turn to Ruby’s house, you miscalculated the speed you were going at and had to hop off the board, letting it crash against the curb. Though you fell on your ass, you made sure to hold the food up keeping it safe and sound. Holding both bags in one hand, you retrieved your skateboard and walked up to the door, but it flung open before you could even think about knocking. Ruby stood on the other side with a scowl. You smiled sheepishly, extending one of the bags to him.
“You’re very late! Did you get me fries with that? Also where are the others?!" Ruby said all in one breath.
"First of all, I know I'm late, but I'm sorry to inform you that you are not more important than food.” Ruby scowled and was about to protest, but you kept speaking before he could utter a word. “Secondly, yes, I did get you fries, you impatient goblin. I mean, what do you take me for? A monster?” You pretended to be offended, but Ruby simply looked annoyed by the dramatic display. “Just know that when I win my first Oscar I will not be thanking you, Ruben.”
“Yeah, yeah if you say so—also don’t call me that. Can you get to the most important question now?”
“Damn, someone hasn’t had their daily handy.” You laughed in astonishment, amused by how much irritation Ruby had in him.
“Seriously, Y/N, this is serious!” His voice raised an octave, causing it to crack, and you had to bite back a laugh.
“A la jaula, bestia, a la jaula,” you began, laughter causing your words to come out like wheezes. Ruby spared you one death stare, and you somehow found your composure. “Look, I have no idea where everyone else is. I, honestly, thought everyone was already here and that you were waiting on me.”
“So, you thought they were here and didn’t think to bring them food?” Ruby questioned.
“Do I look like I have enough money to feed todos esos trogloditas? I brought you food with hopes of getting out of the ‘Punctuality Lecture’, but seeing as they aren’t here, guess that spares me.” You dropped the skate on the entryway, pushing past Ruby to sit on the couch.
“And here I was beginning to think you favored me from the rest.” Ruby sighed with disappointment before raising his voice dramatically. “When in reality, it was just BRIBERY!” he exclaimed, his voice cracking once more as he fake sobbed while clutching the food. You clapped as you opened your food, ready to dig in.
“Damn, man, I better watch out, otherwise you’re probably going to win that Oscar before me,” you said as you began stuffing your face.
“Are you calling me dramatic?” He placed his free hand over his heart.
“Oh, without a shadow of a doubt, now sit down and eat.” With your fork, you pointed at him then towards the couch. Instead of sitting, he started pacing around the coffee table, and you watched him as you munched on your sandwich and fries. He stopped for a second to place his bag of food down, yet he didn’t sit down to eat it. He kept going around the small table at a pace too quick for your eyes to keep up without feeling dizzy. “Wow, man, slow down. Me mareas con tus vueltitas.” He only huffed. “Ruben, seriously, I did not buy that for you to let it go to waste. At least breathe and stress eat.” He whipped around at the mention of his full name.
“I thought I told you not to call me that,” he reminded you exasperatedly. “Anyway, I can’t eat right now. I have many thoughts whirring in my brain, and it’s making me sick. Do you know why I called you guys here? Well, if you’re here, you must have read the messages—” Ruby was rambling on and didn’t even stop in between sentences to take a breath so you cut him off.
“RUBEN!” He ceased all movement so abruptly that a skid mark could’ve possibly been seen in the spot where he stopped. “Could you get to the point,, please? You’re making my head hurt.” You completely ignored his previous statement and pressed the tips of your fingers to your temples. Rolling his eyes at you he sat on the other end of the couch and took his food out. After a few angry munches, he turned to face you, the grease of the food that was plastered on his mouth drawing your attention to his lips.
“Alright, since the others aren’t here yet, I’ll just start telling you my new ideas for income.” He stopped eating and started chattering and chattering and chattering…
You don’t know when it happened, but at some point, he stood up and began pacing around the living room again. You stopped listening about half an hour into his ramble, zoning out and staring blankly at him. Your mind got the best of you, and you started to remember why you liked Ruby. What brought this on? You didn’t know. Maybe it was how much passion he put into his pointless arguments, or maybe even that you found it totally adorable that he was practically unable to lie because he would start sweating like a pig on a stick. Maybe it was the way he smiled at you, the tendency he had to correct everything you said matter-of-factly, or maybe it was his dangerously absurd perfectionism. It could be one of his many qualities, good or bad, you didn’t care. Your eyes trailed to his lips once more. They were so full and pink it was hard not to stare—slightly chapped too, but that wasn’t a problem to you. You imagined running your thumb over them, pulling them close to yours and then just crashing them together. Your breath hitched in your throat at the thought of you and Ruby making out. It wasn’t an uncommon thought of yours, seeing as you’ve been dreaming about it happening almost every night since you discovered what hormones could do.
There was always Cesar, you thought. He was the “face” of the group after all, but that got to his brain sometimes. Nothing more dangerous than a cholo who’s aware of his good looks. You grimaced slightly. Cesar’s ego was one of the many reasons why you never developed an emotional nor carnal liking to the boy. You’d rather leave him to Monse, plus you wouldn’t dream of getting caught in the middle of their toxic and manipulative games. But that’s beside the point. You were abruptly brought back to reality by Ruby waving his hands in front of your face, occasionally snapping his fingers. Shaking your head to shake out the thoughts, you noticed Ruby was now standing on top of the coffee table, being careful not to step on either of your foods.
“PAY ATTENTION TO ME, (Y/N)!” Ruby whined. You held back a chuckle at how funny he looked. His small body barely added to the coffee table’s weight. Deciding to play it cool, you shrugged nonchalantly.
“What’s your fuzz? I am listening to you. Have been for the past hour and a half.”
Ruby squinted his eyes at you. “No, you weren’t. I know that face. You were very deep in your thoughts. What’s going on in that pretty, little head of yours?” You freaked internally.
He’s onto us, you told yourself. “Yes, I am onto you, (Y/N), that’s why I asked. Keep up.” He looked at you like you were stupid. Wait how did he—Can he read my mind?  Blink twice if you can read my mind. Ruby blinked twice, and you felt like a rock dropped in your stomach.
“Oh shit,” you whispered under your breath.
“Before you throw up on my couch, I’ll have you know I can’t read your mind. You were just speaking out loud.” You threw yourself backwards unto the couch, grabbing a pillow to cover your face. After making a mental note to slam your head against the nearest wall later, you decided you were not going to make a further fool of yourself.
“I wasn’t not paying attention; I was just—”
“I am the king of bad excuses, babe, so spare me your lies.” You blushed at the nickname and prayed he wouldn’t notice. “Now since there is obviously something more important on your mind, speak,” he demanded.
You weighed your options. You could either try to lie and hope he’d let you off the hook, which was not likely, or you could tell him the truth and risk your friendship being awkward from now on if he didn’t feel the same way—and with your luck he most likely didn’t. A few more silent seconds passed before Ruby spoke once more, “Don’t make me take drastic measures on you, (Y/N). I will have no mercy.” He eyed you with determination. You scoffed in disbelief.
“What could you possibly do to torture me, Ruben?” You mocked him, stretching out his name. Ruby smirked.
“Oh, you’ve done it now.” He jumped from the coffee table, landing on top of you and successfully pinning you to the sofa. You giggled and tried to get away from his grip, but it was surprisingly strong. Ruby chuckled at your failed attempts to break free. “Now, you’re going to tell me what I want to know, or else,” he brought his lips close to your ears, “you’ll pay for it with your melodious laughter.” Your eyes widened in realization as his words sank in.
“No, not the tickles,” you begged him playfully. He nodded while mischievously smirking.
“One last chance, are you gonna talk?” You shook your head.
“In your dreams,” you defied.
“I was hoping you’d say that.” In seconds, his hands went to your sides and laughter erupted from your throat in loud cackles.
“Stop, Ruby—Stop!” you tried to articulate between laughs. He shook his head no.
“Not until I get what I want.” He said between laughs as well, since in retaliation, you had managed to start tickling him as well. The sound of his own laughter mixed with yours was like music to your ears.
“N—Never!” You still mutinied. His fingers only increased their pace and not in ways you’d like. Your stomach was starting to hurt and you were running out of breath, leaving you with just one option. Well, it was now or never.
“I WAS THINKING ABOUT KISSING YOU,” you blurted; his movements ceased, “I have been since we were in middle school.” You closed your eyes, concentrating on catching your breath. Ruby released you and got off of you, running his hands through his hair in deep thought. You sat up and covered your face with your hands. “This is going to be so awkward now,” you muttered through your hands but it came out like an incoherent jumble of sounds. You moved your hands to sneak a peek at Ruby. Your muffled words didn’t even faze him.
“Ruby?” You looked over at him. His eyes met yours, and he struggled to bite back a laugh. Great, you thought, he thinks I’m a joke now.
“About time.” He grumbled and sighed.
“What?” You were very confused. What could he possibly mean by that?
“I said ‘about damn time,’ (Y/N).” His suppressed laughs turned to a shy grin. Still confused as ever, you tried your best to gather your thoughts and form a coherent sentence.
“Wait, YOU KNEW?” You felt sick to your stomach now. All this time, you thought you had been successful at keeping your feelings hidden and sealed away, but now it turns out even he knew.
“Well, yeah, I’ve known for a couple of months now.” He shrugged it off as if it were obvious.
“Months?!” This was unbelievable. You abruptly stood up and faced him, hands on your hips. “So, you’ve known for months and you didn’t think for one second to tell me? At least, have the decency to confront me, damn it.” You found yourself feeling dumbfounded, feeling toyed with. Ruby reached out to you, holding on to your forearm and pulling you back to sit on the couch. You let him.
“Cesar and Jamal implied it once during one of our guy’s nights, and ever since then, I kind of started paying more attention. Ergo, leading me to the conclusion that you liked me,” he explained. “If it makes you feel any better, the clues to your feelings were very subtle so, I would have probably never noticed if it hadn’t been brought up.” Ruby was trying his best to cheer you up, but you still felt extremely embarrassed by the fact that your secret crush wasn’t so secret.
“Why would they even bring that up, in the first place?” you questioned, annoyed.
“Well, I may or may not have made a comment about how I thought I was starting to develop feelings for you and the guys just jumped on that and told me that you liked me too,” Ruby admitted shyly, rubbing his neck awkwardly.
“So, if you like me back, then why didn’t you say anything or make a move when you figured out I actually felt the same way?” You felt bad for interrogating him like that, but you were in dire need of answers.
“I just didn’t know how to bring it up, and even if I did, I wouldn’t have known how to say I liked you back without, probably, choking on my own saliva.” He chuckled lowly, afraid that if he laughed too loud, he’d set you off again. “You know I’ve never been good with the ladies, (Y/N).” You grimaced at the memory of all of Ruby’s failed love attempts.
“Well, you already knew I liked you—it was a matter of saying three words, eight letters,, and I would’ve been yours months ago.” You pushed his shoulder playfully, the anxiety and embarrassment you had felt washing of and making room for the still-settling realization of having confessed your feelings. Ruby leaned back into you, your legs brushing, causing you to take notice of your proximity. Your hands fell upon each other’s, and you looked up to meet his eyes. You started leaning in, maintaining eye contact as you got closer.
“Ruby,” you started, but he shook his head.
“Don’t think, act,” he said as he grabbed the back of your neck, crashing your lips together. All your late night fantasies crashed at once, the real thing surpassing each and every one of them. Kissing Ruby felt like a kaleidoscope of butterflies got loose in your stomach—it felt like your heart alone was running a marathon. Kissing Ruby was soft and messy, your lack of experience shining through-. Ruby kept pressing himself to you, making sure there was absolutely no space between you. You had to resort to lying down, pulling Ruby on top of you, not once breaking the kiss. Due to the new position, one of his hands made its way to rest on your waist and the other cupped your cheek. Your hands around his neck were pulling him impossibly closer, and in that moment, your body felt like it was exploding with fireworks, warm all over. You didn’t break away until you needed to  breathe, a goofy smile plastering itself on your face. Ruby held the same expression as you as he looked down at you. As you started leaning in for another kiss, the door burst open. You pushed Ruby off of you, causing Ruby to fall on the ground with a thud.
“Uh, what’s going on here?” Jamal asked.
“Told you guys it would work.” Cesar had the biggest, cockiest smirk on his face. You and Ruby shared a confused look and stared back at the very late rest of the crew.
“Yep, just like you said. A couple of hours alone, and they were all over each other.” Monse said, trying her best to refrain from laughing.
“I think our little man, Ruby, just popped his cherry.” Cesar wiggled his eyebrows. Monse’s eyes widened and she broke down laughing.
Irritated enough, you finally spoke up, “Slow your roll, Little Spooky, we’re not like you and Monse.” You shot at him defensively, and Monse choked on her laughter. “No offense,” you added, not wanting to stir up any drama.
“None taken,” Cesar assured. Ruby got off the ground and reclaimed his seat beside you.
Leaning over, he whispered, “Why can’t we be like them?”
“Keep it in your damn pants, Ruben.” You nudged his side and he raised his hands in surrender.
In retaliation, though, Cesar sat between you and Ruby. You shared a look of annoyance before Cesar asked, “Are you going to finish that?” referring to the forgotten leftover cluttering the small table.
“Go crazy.”
“Suit yourself,” you and Ruby at the same time.
As Cesar dug in Jamal spoke up, “Can we just skip to the part where Ruby yells at us for being late and starts talking non-stop?”
“No, man, not today.” Everyone looked bewildered. “Cesar why don’t you take that home? Yes, okay, bye,” Ruby dismissed him.
“Wait, woah, the hell man?” Cesar questioned as Ruby used all his might to get him off the couch.
“You can all come back tomorrow, on time, and we’ll talk about my idea.” He said shooing them all away.
“Are you freaking serious?” Monse got angry quickly.
“Hey, not my fault you decided to play cupid and be late on purpose.” Cesar, Jamal, and Monse shared looks of pride at Ruby’s statement. “Now if you’ll excuse me, I have some wasted time to make up for with my new girlfriend so, bye!”
“Whatever you say, man,” Cesar said as he opened the door with one hand, the leftovers in the other. When Jamal and Monse were outside he said, “Just remember sin gorrito no hay fiesta.” He immediately shut the door after himself, but that didn’t stop Ruby and you from yelling after him.
“Fuck off, Cesar!” You both yelled with smiles on your faces as you looked at each other. With everyone else gone, Ruby cupped your cheek once more and tenderly kissed you until you had to head back home. That night you slept peacefully, no longer having to dream and wonder about how kissing Ruby would feel like.

soft. oscar diaz
word count: 1073
warnings: NONE pure FLUFF
requested: “Hey. Please could you do a lazy Saturday/Sunday Oscar Diaz imagine? I love your writing!"
plot: movie night with oscar
masterlist
you were spending your saturday night at home, with oscar. usually he would be out with friends or at a party, but you talked him into hanging out with you instead. you were happy to spend time like this with him, just the two of you, because it didn't happen very often.
"i'm gonna change into something comfier," you announced, untangling yourself from him. he just nodded, his eyes remaining on the film you two had been watching.
you splashed your face with some cold water to keep yourself for falling asleep just yet. you promised you'd stay awake for movie night, that was the one condition of oscar spending his saturday night at home. he always teased you for falling asleep in the middle of a film, because you did it every time.
you changed out of your clothes and into some pyjama shorts and one of his t-shirts. his clothes always seemed much comfier than yours. it didn't know how but you didn't question it. you were happy lounging around in his clothes.
"do you want another drink while i'm up?" you asked upon re-entering the living room. he gave you a quick yes his eyes still clinging to the tv, he was really into this film.
you grabbed him a drink, and one for yourself. handing oscar his, his eyes glanced towards you as be mumbled a quiet thank you. but his eyes quickly moved back to where you were standing in front of him now, his t-shirt hanging just above your knees, engulfing you entirely. he wore a soft smirk when he saw you. you noticed, rolling your eyes.
"stop staring," you climbed under the throw and repositioned yourself next to him on the couch. you could still feel his eyes on you.
you turned to face him, a small smile on your face when you saw the way he was looking at you. he lifted his hand to your face, pulling you towards him gently and kissing you. it was soft and quick. the kind that gave you butterflies. it didn't matter how many times you kissed him, it always made you a little bit nervous.
"eres hermosa," he muttered against yours lips, only pulling away slightly. you wore a bigger smile now, you couldn't help it, he was sweet.
"stop," you blushed, though he couldn't see in this light. you pushed his face away from yours. his hands moving to your stomach, holding you loosely in place.
"i like my shirt on you," he wore a soft smile, he could look at you all day. "looks better on you, in fact."
you hummed. “it's comfy," you shrugged. it was the truth. you shuffled down the couch a bit, before laying down, resting your head on his lap. his hands moved from your stomach to your hair. your eyelids fluttered as he tangled his hands in your hair, you could see yourself falling asleep at this rate. "this is nice."
he hummed. you loved days like this. just the two of you, no interruptions. it was rare you got oscar to yourself for a whole day, so you appreciated him even more when you did. he was a softie around you. his attitude, his entire demeanour changed with one look from you. you always looked full of love and understanding when you looked at him, it made him weak and soft and he kinda liked it. it was a break from his harsh reality whenever he was around you.
he moved one hand to yours, interlocking his fingers with your own, while his other hand remained tangled in your hair. you wore a soft, happy smile as you eyes fluttered shut the longer he held you like this.
"i love you," you mumbled, quietly. he could barely hear you. he could tell you were falling asleep pretty quickly in this position, but he didn't want to disturb you. you looked so comfy and happy. he leaned down, pressing a kiss to your temple, and whispering a quiet i love you too into your ear. your smile grew wider with his words. you felt pretty lucky to have him.
"you think you can make it to bed?" he spoke softer, mindful of the fact you were almost fast asleep and feeling a little groggy and spaced out. you just hummed, snuggling into his lap. he let out a small smile and whispered an ok then that's a no.
he carefully shifted you onto your back and tucked one arm behind your back and the other underneath your legs. with great difficulty he managed to pick you up in his arms and carry you to bed. you tucked your head into his chest, your eyes still closed as he carefully placed you under the duvet. you rolled over onto your side, your eyes not opening for even a second. oscar knew this was how the night would turn out. you could never stay awake to watch an entire film, especially late at night. he had anticipated that this would happen even when he made you promise to stay awake.
he didn't mind though, he liked that you trusted him enough to fall asleep on his lap and carry you to bed. he liked that you wore his clothes cause they were comfy. he liked that you instinctively clung to him in your sleep. he loved you. you could do no wrong in his eyes.
oscar changed into some comfier clothes before joining you in bed. you let out soft snores, lying on your stomach, your legs stretched out and your face smushed up against your pillow. he watched you sleep for a little while until he grew tired himself. he leaned over carefully, pressing a kiss to your forehead. a small half-smile reached your lips, and instinctively you lifted your arm and draped it across his stomach. he shifted closer to you, rolling onto his side and resting his hand on your waist. you snuggled into his chest while he held you.
he always made you feel safe no matter what state you were in. he was the safest, kindest guy you knew and you loved him. he was it for you. you couldn't imagine life without him at this point, the two of you were joined at the hip. he was just as much in love with you as you were with him. everything was perfect.

No Warning Just Cute and Funny :)

Reader's P.O.V
Benito took Me,Jamal, Ruby and Cesar to get icecream because I wanted icecream. On the way back Jamal points out "A dog"
Ruby "Aw its lost"
I'm looking at it as we are driving past and it gets farther away.
"Stop the car."
Benito slows down and says "What you feel sick?"
"No. That puppy"
Benito rolls his eyes and keeps driving. So I do what any.... Crazy. Animal. Lover would do.
"Cesar scoot over to the middle for a second please"
Cesar does as I ask. I pull the lever to lift up the seat and open the door. The all yell my name but I'm already rolling. Out the car. Yes. I jumped out the car. I couldn't just leave the poor baby.
I knew Benito would throw me over his shoulder and put me back in the car so once I stop rolling I jump up and start running. I heard someone say shit. I'm assuming Benito and he probably got back in the car to stop me but I ain't leaving without the dog.
I get closer to the dog and see it's just a puppy and a beautiful one at that. I'm slowly walking towards it. I hear the car pull up behind me and them get out.
Ruby and Jamal run up next to me, holding my arms to stop me from getting closer to the dog.
Jamal says "You can't just walk up to it."
"Watch me" they pull me back
Ruby says "The dog could have rabies"
Cesar walks up and says "He called Oscar"
"Why"
He shrugs and I say "He should of just called my dad. He would understand. I get my Crazy Animal Love from my mom."
"PUPPY" I yell which makes Jamal and Ruby look at me like I'm crazy. Which I mean I am but they apparently haven't realized that.
The puppy stops, turns around and looks at us. Me and Cesar both say "Awe" We both crouched down putting our hands out. The puppy stares at each of us for a while then fully turns towards us which makes me smile.
It slowly starts walking towards us. Me and Cesar look at each other, smiling. When the puppy get to us it inches closer sniffling our palms. It finally let's Cesar pick it up after we sat there letting him warm up to us.
Benito finally walks up to us "I got off the phone with Spooky. He's gonna call your dad to meet us at the house"
"Ok. But we need to stop and get dog food and water first"
He stares at me like really. No.
♡♡♡♡♡♡♡
We got some dog food, water and 2 bowls. Benito is smoking while me and Cesar watch the pup eat and Jamal and Ruby..... I think they're talking about how stupid this is but oh well it's my decision and its already done.
♡♡♡♡♡♡♡
Ruby,Jamal and Benito are in the front and me and Cesar are in the back with the pup.
Right now we are pulling up to Cesar's house and from 5 houses down I can already see the guys waiting. As we get closer I see my dad.
Benito shuts off the car and gets out. Jamal gets out then Ruby gets out, lifting the seat for me and Cesar to get out. "You hold him and then let him go when I call him. Okay?" Cesar nods and I get out after taking a deep breath.
My dad is the first to speak "What is this I hear about you jumpin out a moving car?"
"It was to help a puppy."
Oscar "The car was moving."
"Yes. I know. I was there. Very much so there actually." I roll my eyes then look back at my dad. Once I see he looks pissed I yell "Churro!" then give him an innocent smile. They look at me confused till the. We found out a Fox Red Lab. Jumps out the back of the car.
The guys either "awe" or say "wow" and bend down to let Churro smell them
Sadeyes "Boy or Girl"
"Boy" I say proudly
"We'll take care of him"
I look at Oscar confused. So he Continues "He'll live here."
"No the hell he won't. He's mine. I don't live here and he will live where I live."
"Well we can change where you live. No problem." Oscar says with a smirk
I roll my eyes and say "No Oscar.
I jumped out of a car for him."
Everyone laughs
Benito "Shit. Yeah she did." He looks at me and says "It was stupid as hell but" he bends down to pet Churro "We got this cute little bastard"
"He is NOT a bastard. A bastard is a kid who's parents aren't married"
Most of the Santos say "Really"
"Yes and" I bend down to pick up my Churro "that isn't the case for Churro because he has only ever had mommy" I say in a baby voice
Oscar clears his throat "I'm right here"
I look him up and down then say "Yeah. I see you."
Oscar rolls eyes and says "He's my son"
"No he's not"
"He's Santo property"
Me,Ruby and Jamal all gasp with a hand on our chest. Jamal covers one of Churro's ears before saying "He is NOT an object"
Cesar smirks and says "I thought you didn't like him"
"He's not that bad" Jamal say petting Churro's head
Ruby "Yeah and he makes The Princess happy"
They all look at me holding Churro like a baby and smile. Till Churro licks Jamal's face. Jamal backs away before saying "Okay. Now that. We're gonna have to talk about."
We all start dying of laughter. Once we all calm down my dad says
"Fine. You can keep the dog BUT you and Spooky have to discuss custody arrangements"
I look Spooky dead in the eye and say with a straight face "Take me to court bitch"
He raises a eyebrow while everyone laughs.
The End💙🐶

Planned | M. Martinez
Tumblr media
Pairing: Mario x Diaz!Reader
Timeframe: Season One
Summary: Y/n and Mario say goodbye to their families, before leaving for college
masterlist
A/N: I wrote this as a build up for another fic, so stay tuned! I have lots of other imagines coming as well :)
Ever since our relationship got serious, in the summer after our Sophomore year, Mario and I had planned on going to college together. And when we both received our acceptance letters, it seemed that this plan was becoming a reality.
However, despite how meticulously I mapped out my plans for after high school, I had forgotten to take into account the trouble my brother’s involvement with the Santos would entail. When he was arrested, everything I had planned seemed impossible. There was no way I could leave Cesar.
Then, much to my surprise, Oscar got out the same time I received my acceptance letter. Shortly after, I also received the news that my scholarship application was successful, and suddenly everything I had planned stood a good chance of happening.
“Y/n,” Mario called out to me, from where he parked his car. HIs family, my brothers, Monse, Jamal and I were standing on the Martinez’s front porch. Mario walked up to where I stood, and kissed my forehead, before turning to everyone. “We’re good to go now.”
I said goodbye to Cesar’s friends first, starting off with Monse. The four of them had gotten into so much trouble together for as long as they had been friends. However, they also stuck by each other more loyally that any other group of friends I knew.
“Good luck at Cal, Y/n,” she said, as we hugged.
“Thank you,” I replied, as I pulled away and smiled at her. “By the way, I know... About you and my brother.”
“Wha-” she sputtered, taken aback that I knew about the one thing she and Cesar had been hiding for over a few months.
“Relax, I won’t tell anyone,” I assured her. After nodding, she looked up at me, as if waiting for my verdict- whether or not I was okay with her and my brother. “But, I hope you two sort out whatever it is you got going on.”
I moved on to saying goodbye to Jamal and Ruby.
“And you two,” I began, as I stretched my arms out and wrapped them around each of their shoulders. “Please... por favor, try and stay out of trouble while I’m gone... Especially since you can’t count on me anymore to forge your parents’ signatures... or pick you up from the cemetery at 3 in the morning, Jamal.”
Ruby’s eyes widened as he stared at Jamal for an explanation.
“Oh don’t look at me like that,” he scoffed, taking offence at Ruby’s reaction. In his defence, I spent an equal amount of time picking them both up from bizarre places at bizarre hours. “At least I’ve never given Y/n food poisoning.”
Ruby remained sheepishly silent, and I moved on.
“Goodbye, Mrs Martinez,” I said, as I hugged Geny tightly. Even when Mario and I were just friends, she had always made it a point to make me feel loved and welcomed. She was more of a mother to me than my real one.
“Ay mija,” she cried, rubbing my back gently, before pulling away. “If you need anything, just call me, okay? Anything.”
I nodded, smiling warmly at her.
Saying goodbye to the rest of Mario’s family was unexpectedly hard. It dawned on me how much time I had spent in their house, and subsequently how close we had gotten. However, after saying goodbye to Abuelita, I realised the most painful was yet to over.
“I’m gonna miss you, ‘mana,” Cesar said softly. I pulled him into a hug, cherishing the moment for as long as I could, before pulling away.
“I’m gonna miss you too,” I replied honestly. I glanced over at Oscar, who laughing at something Mario had said to him, and sigh softly. “You ever get sick of Oscar, just gimme a call okay?... Don’t do anything stupid.”
Cesar chuckled, but nodded nonetheless, understanding how much I meant what I said. Whenever him and Oscar butted heads, they both always ended taking things too far. I wanted Cesar to know that I would always be there for him, no matter the distance.
“Hey,” I whispered, before placing my hands on Cesar’s shoulder. He looked up, tears brimming in his eyes, and I knew he could sense what I was gonna say next. “If I can get out, you can too... I’ll make sure of it, okay? Just focus on being a kid for now.”
He lifted his hand to wipe his eyes, which I took as an opportunity to pull him in for another hug. Ever since Oscar was forced to give up his culinary dreams to support Cesar and I, I did everything I could to find a way out. When I was awarded my scholarship, I could tell what this meant for Cesar, much less Oscar. It meant that he had a shot of getting out too, and that Oscar’s sacrifice was not in vain.
After pulling away from Cesar, I made my way to my other brother.
All of a sudden, I felt my eyes begin to sting. Facing Oscar made me feel confronted by the reality of what I was doing. I had spent a majority of my life dreaming of the day I could leave Freeridge and pave my own path, away from my family’s affiliation and involvement with the Santos. It only just hit me how much this could impact my brothers.
“Hey,” Oscar said, taking a step towards me, and placing his hands on my shoulders, ironically just as I had done to Cesar. “Why you crying for? This is a good thing.”
“I know, but...” I cried, sniffling as I lifted my head to face my big brother. “It just kinda feels like I’m abandoning you and Cesar.”
“‘Mana...” Oscar pulled me into his chest, scuffing my hair teasingly, before pulling away again. “Me and Cesar? We’ll be okay... You just focus on chasing your dream. You deserve that... more than anyone.”
I nodded, shoving my hand in my pockets. I glanced over at Cesar, who was busy staring indiscreetly at Monse. I wondered how that would turn out by the time I came back for Christmas break. I wondered how much things would change by the time I came back home.
I huffed, slumping my shoulders as I focused back on Oscar. I knew change would be inevitable. It felt like just yesterday Cesar and his friends started middle school. Now they were about to start high school. And who knows what would happen then. What kind of trouble they would find themselves in.
“Promise me...” I had to inhale for a moment, before finishing my sentence. Oscar watched me intently. “Promise me you’ll go easy on him. You can’t just walk out when he starts acting up... Not while I’m gone, okay? You’re all he’s got.”
“Since when have I ever walked out?” Oscar responded, a heavy undertone of aggression layered in his voice.
“You know I don’t mean it like that,” I replied softly, trying not to diffuse the argument before it became one. “I just... I need to know that you’re gonna be here when Cesar needs you to- that you’re not gonna let your anger or let being Santo get in the way of that.”
He had just gotten out of prison, after being locked up for over a year. The only reason I accepted my scholarship and even applied for college was because he told me he was getting out early. I was counting on him to stay out of trouble while I was away, for Cesar’s sake.
“I’m not gonna get locked up again, Y/n,” he stated, softening as he realised where my concern was coming from.
“You don’t know that,” I said quietly. Oscar sighed, knowing I was right about that. He hadn’t planned on getting locked up at all, but that still happened.
“...I’ll go easy on him,” he said, shoving his hands in his pockets, his expression sheepish. When I still looked uneasy, he knew the exact phrase he needed to use to put my mind at ease. “... Promise.”
I smiled, a wave of relief washing over me. That was enough. Knowing that he would go easy on Cesar while I was gone was enough for me to be content. He and I had to share the responsibility of looking after Cesar, but out approaches were always different.
Oscar was always the first to get angry, whilst I let Cesar get away with almost anything, which is good. We balanced each other out. When Oscar went to prison, I had to change my approach. I had to hold Cesar accountable for a lot of the things I used to let him off the hook for. I had to ensure that balance. I needed Oscar to do the same while I was gone.
After exchanging a tearful goodbye with his mom, Mario made his way to where I stood. Without saying anything, he took the bag hanging on my shoulder and slung it over his. Oscar inhaled sharply, before resuming his signature glare as he took a step towards my boyfriend.
“Take care of my sister,” he said, phrasing it as more of a threat than a request. I knew he liked Mario and respected him, but that never seemed to stop him from threatening him as often as he could.
“Of course,” Mario answered, trying to conceal the fear that was ridiculously evident through his expression. He wasn’t exactly good at suppressing his emotions, but I loved him for that exact reason.
After a prolonged moment of silence, Oscar held his hand up, and Mario grabbed it, initiating a bro hug. In the language of my brother, that was physical confirmation of respect.
As Mario and I entered his car, and began pulling out of the driveway, and heading towards the outskirts of our neighbourhood, I stared out my window and tried to enjoy as much of the view as I could. Tried to bask in the familiarity of our block and all the people that resided in it.
For all I knew, everything could be wildly different the next time I came these streets. Somehow, I knew in my bones that they would. Nothing ever stayed the same around here.
Without realising, I placed my hand on Mario’s hand that rested on my thigh, and gripped it. He was the one person I could always count on staying, despite all the people that left me. Now he was the only one coming with me on the new adventure we were about to embark on.
“Y/n?” His voice was soft, yet concerned. He kept his eyes focused on the road, but his expression was uneasy. “You okay, baby?”
“Yeah,” I answered, without having to think about it for longer than a second. I loosened my grip, but kept my fingers intertwined with his. “I have you.”
He smiled, taken back for a moment, because I wasn’t typically as affectionate as him. Nonetheless, he gripped my hand a little bit tighter. And when I leaned against shoulder lightly, he kissed my forehead gently.

“Sunflower.” Ruby x Reader OnMyBlock
Tumblr media
Based on: “Hello, I would like to a request a Ruby x Reader fanfic where y/n just moved to Freeridge and is feeling homesick.”
Author: Alana
You woke up not feeling the best. Your mind replaying memories of your friends back home.
Your mother kept telling you that with time, you would feel better about living in Freeridge. Yet, you’ve been feeling worst the longer you’ve been there.
You have to get over it, (y/n). You reminded yourself, sliding out of bed to get your day started.
You were hoping you would feel better as the day went on, but that didn’t happen. You tried distracting yourself in different ways, but found yourself getting more upset.
There was only one person you wanted to talk to about what you were feeling. Ruby. Throughout the past few weeks, he had done his best to invite you to hang out with his friends, even when you repeatedly declined.
He would even stop by your house to check on you, often bringing you food. That led to you bonding with him, more than you realized. Because you would then invite him in to share with you.
This time together allowed you both to get to know each other better. Though you didn’t realize it, Ruby was becoming your first friend in Freeridge.
You anxiously walked down to his house. Gingerly knocking on the front door quickly. Please be here, Ruby.
The second Ruby opened the door, you pushed past him and made your way to his couch. You sat down, fidgeting with your hands.
Ruby closed the front door, watching you worried. “(y/n), what’s wrong?” He asked, sitting next to you on the couch.
You sat there trying to get your thoughts together. The more you tried to find the right words, the more tears welled up in your eyes.
You looked down at your hands, letting the tears stream down your face. “I just miss home. I miss my friends. I miss everything that was familiar to me, but now that’s all gone.” You let out a quiet sob, placing your hands over your eyes and wresting your elbows on your knees.
Ruby watched you helplessly and placed his hand on your lower back.
“I just feel alone now..” You whispered out, dropping your hands and looking over at Ruby, who was now rubbing your back.
He let out a quiet sigh and turned his body towards you on the couch. “But you’re not alone, (y/n). You have so many people here who want to be your friend. You just have to let them in..” he smiled softly at you.
You looked back down at your hands, taking in Ruby’s words. He was right, you have to let others in. That was your worst habit, you were never one to open up a lot. You only trusted very few people.
Ruby gently pulled you into his arms and looked down at you, your head now laying on his chest, “Okay, how about this, tell me some things that you miss about home?” He encouraged, laying his head on yours.
You wiped your face and took in a deep breath. You noticed the cologne Ruby was wearing and it had a soothing affect on you.
“Um..” You started, clearing your throat, “I miss the large open fields we had back home. Everything here is so cramped and bustling constantly.” You looked up at Ruby and smiled softly, “My friends and I use to visit this sunflower field all the time. It always reminded us to stay together because Sunflowers represent loyalty..” you found yourself smiling more at remembering all the time you spent at those fields. “We would spend all day making food so that we could go have a picnic under the stars.. it was so beautiful..” you whispered the last part, mostly to yourself.
Ruby watched you amazed, not used to you talking this much about anything, especially at once. It was really nice seeing you smile like this. He suddenly got an idea.
“Hey, (y/n), how about we meet tonight for dinner? I know it’s last minute, but I promise you that you’ll have fun. I just want to help distract you; show you that you aren’t alone here.” He smiled huge, his brown doe eyes sparkling with excitement.
You blushed a little and nodded, “Okay, why not, Ruby.. and thank you for being here..” you spoke softly, wrapping your arms around his shoulders and hugging him.
Ruby hugged back, smiling to himself, “You’re welcome, (y/n). Now go home and relax until I come get you for dinner.” He ordered jokingly, pulling away from the hug.
You let a soft giggle escape your lips, “I didn’t realize you were this bossy, Ruby Martinez.” You playfully rolled your eyes, heading towards the door. “I’ll see you tonight.” You gave a small wave, exiting the house.
-
As soon as you left the house, Ruby ran to the garage, in search of his abuela.
“Abuelita, I really need your help right now.” He began coughing and swatting away the smoke that was filling the garage.
Abuelita’s eye widened and she quickly put down her bong. “Aye, qué pasa? What do you want? I’m busy.”
Ruby ignored the fact that she was smoking her bong in the garage again, “I need your help. I want to do something nice for (y/n), but I need you to drive me around to some flower shops.” He pleaded, biting his lip nervously.
Abuelita groaned softly, “I don’t know, Ruby-“
“I won’t tell mom and dad that you never threw out your bong.” He bargained, narrowing his eyes at her a bit.
Abuelita glared at Ruby a bit, “Fine. Go get my keys, estúpido.” She said, tucking her bong back into her hiding spot.
-
“By the way, I also need some money...” Ruby added on once they pulled up to a floral shop.
Abuelita let out a loud sigh and grabbed her purse, “Why can’t you be more like Jamal?” She grumbled, handing Ruby cash.
Ruby let out a soft laugh and got out of the car eagerly. He walked into the floral shop and straight to the florist behind the cash register, “Do you have any sunflowers? Like a lot of sunflowers?”
The older woman gave Ruby a sweet smile, “Of course I do, sugar. But sunflowers are not cheap.. they’re about $2.40 per flower.”
Looking down at the money he had in his hands, he thought for a moment. Yeah, this was about to be crazy expensive, but if it made you feel less home sick then he would do whatever it took.
“I’m doing this for a friend who’s missing her home. She’s worth the cost.” He smiled at the florist.
The florist smirked a little and walked around the counter, “Follow me.” She ordered, walking towards the back of the shop. “So do you like this friend more than a friend?” She questioned, picking out Sunflower bouquets.
The question caught Ruby off guard, causing him to blush and to stutter through his response. “W-why would you ask that? What makes you think I l-like her?” He asked back, scratching the back of his neck in embarrassment.
“Well for starters, not a lot of young men come in here to buy flowers. Especially not to help a girl feel better who is homesick.” She reasoned, walking back to the counter to place the flowers at the register.
Ruby grabbed a few more bouquets and followed the florist back to the cash register, “Well that doesn’t mean that I like her.” He scoffed quietly, the blush still evident on his tan cheeks. “I mean, sure she’s beautiful, and so funny when you can get her to talk to you. And she does this little lip bite thing when she thinks of a funny joke. You can always tell when she’s about to tell you a joke.” Ruby chuckled softly to himself, thinking about you.
The florist watched Ruby with adoration, “You’ve got it bad, sweet pea..” She paused for a moment, watching Ruby. “Listen, since you clearly have a thing for this girl and you’re a sweet kid, I’ll give you half off on all the flowers. I hope you can make this girl’s year.” She smiled more at Ruby, beginning to ring up his flowers.
“I’ll help you take these out to the car.” She offered, taking the cash Ruby held out to her.
“I really appreciate all of your help, ma’am.” He said, giving her his charming smile and gathering as many bouquets as his arms could hold.
The florist gathered the rest of the flowers and followed Ruby out to the car, “It’s no problem, sugar, really. And a bit of advice,” she started, setting the bouquets in the back seat, “once you get the girl, never stop trying to make her feel at home here.” She said, closing the back door as Ruby got into the front seat, holding the bouquets in his lap.
“Good luck, kid.” She winked, closing the passenger door for him.
Ruby pondered over what she had just said as Abuelita pulled out of the parking spot, “Are we done? Can we go home now? I’m missing my show, Ruby.” Abuelita huffed out.
“Yes, Abuelita. We can go home now, but I need one more favor.” He looked over at his grandmother.
Abuelita groaned softly, “I’m beginning to like Jamal more and more.” she raised an eyebrow over at Ruby, “What do you need?”
“I need you to help me make some food.. you’re the best cook I know, Abuelita.” Ruby flattered her, batting his eyelashes.
-
You opened the front door and watched Ruby confused, “Do you have to pee or something..? Why are you bouncing like that?” You questioned.
“It’s called excitement, (y/n). Now come on!” He grabbed your hand, pulling you outside of the house.
You quickly pulled your front door closed and walked along Ruby’s side. “I’ve never seen you this excited before? It’s only dinner, Ruby.” You reminded him, not realizing that you both were now holding hands.
Ruby smiled more to himself. He knew that this was going to be more than dinner. He knew that this could possibly change the way that you view Freeridge and even making new friends.
All he had to do was not ruin the surprise as you both walked to the football field.
“I know, but I’m starving. So I’m excited to eat.” He smiled over at you, barely swinging your hands back and forth.
You looked around at your surroundings, confused as to where you guys were going to eat.
“Speaking of eating... where are we eating?” You questioned as you both approached the football field.
“Here.” Ruby said, dropping your hand and motioning to the scene in front of you.
Your jaw dropped at the sight in front of you.
There, in the middle of the field, a large picnic blanket laid, sunflowers placed strategically over it. On top of the blanket was a picnic basket that had sunflowers woven into it. And as you looked across the field, even more sunflowers could be seen spread amongst the horizon.
You stared at the sight in front of you in awe. Your eyes instantly being drawn to the beautiful yellow flowers. “Sunflowers..” you breathed out, a huge smile making its way to your lips. You looked over at Ruby, “What is this..?” You asked, making your way over the picnic blanket.
Ruby reached into the basket and pulled out a bouquet of sunflowers. “My failed replication of your sunflower field back home.” He chuckled softly, placing the flowers into your arms.
“I wanted to do something to show you that you aren’t alone here, (y/n).” He smiled nervously at you, “So I checked the weather to make sure the sky won’t be cloudy tonight, so we can see the stars. I found an open place where it’s not busy and bustling, as you said. And I helped my Abuelita cook..” he finished, a hint of pride in his voice.
You were still taking in everything around you, not yet saying a word.
This caused Ruby to frown and he looked at you nervously, “Did I overstep..? I swear I wasn’t trying to overstep, (y/n). I was just trying-“
“I love it.” You finally looked over at Ruby, “I love it so much, Ruby.” you hugged him tightly, angling your body so you wouldn’t squish the flowers in your arms.
You could feel Ruby relax as he hugged you back.
You spoke softly, not pulling away from the hug, “No one has ever done anything like this for me.. not that I was expecting it, but this really means so much to me.” You expressed, slowly pulling away from the hug.
That proud smile returned to Ruby’s face. He grabbed your hand again and sat down on the blanket. “I’m really glad you like it.. you know what else you’ll like?” He asked, reaching into the basket and pulling out food.
“Hm??” You watched what he was pulling out of the basket.
“My Abuelita’s empanadas. They’re to die for.” Ruby praised, handing you a plate and opening the container that contained the empanadas.
You both sat there eating and enjoying each other’s company. Watching the sun set, you both laid back on the blanket and looked up to the sky.
Ruby wrapped an arm around your shoulder. He watched as the sky darkened gradually, allowing the twinkling stars to be able to show.
You leaned into Ruby’s side and kept staring up at the stars, “You were wrong.” You told him, not breaking your stare.
Ruby turned his head in your direction. He knitted his eyes in confusion, “About what?” His voice laced with curiosity.
You turned your head towards him, “This wasn’t a failed attempt. This was perfect, Ruby.” You smiled over at him, now seeing him in a new light. Maybe he wouldn’t always be just a friend. Maybe one day it could be more than that.
Turning over to grab a sunflower from the grass, Ruby turned back towards you and tucked the flower behind your ear. “Good, because you deserve nothing less than perfection, (y/n).”

Oscar Diaz-Birthday Bash Pt.1
(Momma Bear Series)
“Birthday party today mommy.” Angel cheers as he is the first one awake out of the whole house, him and Alexander sleeping with you and Oscar like usual. He climbs on to your chest and grabs at your cheeks, wiggling them in his tiny hands,”Wake up mommy. I turn treeee.” He sings, your eyes opening slightly and a smile forming on your face.
“Three?” You ask, faking surprise,”Are you sure about that? You look like a baby to me.” You say as you tickle his sides causing him to giggle loudly.
“Yes! Party today, I’m a big boy.” He says before covering his mouth quickly,”Shhh daddy and Alex are sleeping.” He reminds as he looks over at them and then back to you with big eyes.
“That’s right.” You whisper as you stand up with him in your arms, letting him cling to your neck like a monkey as you walk out of the room,”Want to help mommy make your birthday breakfast?” You ask him, already knowing the answer as he shakes his head in agreement eagerly.
“I always help you silly goose.” He laughs joyfully, causing you to laugh as well.
“Silly goose?” You grin and press your forehead to his,”You’re the silly goose.” You tell him, he doesn’t reply and gives you a messy kiss on the mouth, laughing again seconds later. When you reach the kitchen you set him on the counter, his legs swinging back and fourth as they dangle,”Don’t jump.” You tell him seriously as you walk over to the fridge.
“I know mommy. Angel no jump.”
“Good boy.” You praise and pull open the door,”Now bacon or...sausage?” You ask him as you rummage through what you could make for your large family.
“Both!”
“Okay, only cause it’s your special day.” You smile and place both items next to him before going back to pull out what else you would need.
“And I want beans mommy! With skinny bread.” He smiles
“It’s called tortillas.” You laugh but nonetheless agree with his choices
“Skinny bread.” He retorts as you push him down further away from the stove before you light it up.
“Fine. Skinny bread, but don’t let daddy hear you say that. He’ll go on a whole rant about how it’s pronounced tortilla.” You say, the last word in a exaggerated Hispanic accent. Angel making a tight lip smile and acting as if he was sealing his mouth closed before throwing away the fictional key,”Lets get to it, I’m sure your brothers are going to wake up very soon.”
You get started on the very grand breakfast-cheesy scrambled eggs mixed with potatoes, beans, bacon, sausage and home made tortillas. Even going as far as making a pot of Abuelita Chocolate, all of your kids however preferring it cold so you mixed it in the blender with ice. As you come to a finish and pour some of the drink into Angel’s cup, a tired Oscar walks in with a very happy baby in his arms.
“Morning.” He yawns and comes over to give you and Angel a kiss on each of your heads,”Happy birthday Mijo.”
“Thank you papa.”
“I already changed him, but he wants some teta.” Oscar says as he stands behind you, the baby being held at arms length now.
“Let me see him.” You smile and take the now seven month old from him, pulling your top down just enough to feed him as you work on putting the final touches on everything,”Go wake up those kids of yours.” You tell your husband, doing as you asked with no questions. You hear him walk up the stairs, banging on Junior’s door first.
“Wake up huevón!” You hear him call out to your eldest son, pushing open the bedroom door and turning the light on,”Your mom cooked and it’s your brothers birthday so downstairs in five minutes.” He orders, moving onto Carlos and Anthony’s shared room next and doing the same.
“Wake up! I told you to not be up all night on that video game bullshit.” He says and shakes them awake, tossing the blanket off the both of them as they protest. You shake your head in amusement and serve the plates one by one, a bit hard since Alexander was literally attached to you. Oscar rejoining you a minute later and getting Angel set up in his booster seat before taking Alexander back and putting him in the hand me down high chair you’ve had since Carlos. The rest of the kids coming down together as they sit around the table, all of them thanking you and wishing Angel a happy birthday as well.
“Let me grab his food.” Oscar says and goes back into the kitchen to grab a jar of baby food for Alex, sitting back down when he returns. He feeds himself and the baby, you focusing on your own plate and occasionally helping the birthday boy make a taco with all of the items on his plate.
“It’s really good mommy.” Carlos smiles through a mouthful of eggs, Anthony giving you a thumbs up when you look his way.
“Yeah mom. I want pancakes when it’s my birthday though.” Junior grins before scarfing down some more food.
“Noted.” You smile, taking a bite of your beans when there is a sudden knock on the door,”I got it. It’s probably the water slide company.” You say and wipe your mouth quickly before going over to the door, your guess correct as two older men stand at the door with a big truck parked at the end of your driveway. You talk to them for a bit before showing them the side gate that they could use to set up in the backyard, making sure Oscar already payed before you head back in to finish the rest of your food.
“What time is Uncle Cesar coming over?” Anthony asks excitedly
“Soon, he’s showing up with Ruby so they can decorate for the party.” You reply as you grab your fork.
“Baby shark right mommy?” Angel asks
“Yes, Ruby knows you wanted a baby shark theme.” You laugh
“Wash your plates off if your done.” Oscar orders the older boys, doing as told one by one when they finish.
“Junior! I need you to go pick up the cake in a bit from the bakery.” You tell him, Junior groaning before Oscar gives him a look and he stops the words that were going to come from his mouth.
“It’s a five minute walk, you’ll be fine.” You tell him as you let Angel get out of his chair when he finishes, running over to the window and watching the water slide being inflated.
“Okay.” The teen says with a forced smile before trudging up the stairs, Anthony and Carlos following behind.
“Are you full papi?” You ask Oscar,”There was still a bit left on the stove, do you want it?”
“Yes please.” He smiles, putting a spoonful of the green colored food into Alex’s mouth. You get up with your empty plate and grab Oscar’s as well, placing yours in the sink before loading his up again.
“Here you go.” You say and place the plate down in front of him.
“Thank you mamita.” He grins and swiftly pulls you onto his lap causing you to laugh,”Can I have a piece of you too?”
“Mhm always.” You smile and peck his lips lovingly.
“Kissy for me too?” Angel asks as he walks over.
“Just one.” You joke as you stand and pick his small body up, giving him a peck as well before dipping him down so Oscar can do the same,”Now let’s let daddy finish eating in peace.” You say as you place him back down so you can grab Alexander.
“I’m going to put them in the bath while I shower. You better pick up after yourself.” You playfully warn before heading down the hall to your master bedroom. When you enter the bathroom you turn the water for the tub on, making sure it’s warm. Angel already undressing himself and hopping in. You undress Alexander as well before sitting him down next to his brother. The water not even reaching their belly buttons as you turn it off. You just decided it would be easier to put them in so you could shower real quick and get ready for the day while keeping them occupied,”Mommy’s going to shower, you watch Alex okay?” You tell the toddler, not really meaning it since the shower was two feet away and was made of glass.
“You got it mommy.”
You undress and throw all the discarded clothes into the hamper, tossing the diaper and pull up away as well before getting under the hot running water, your eyes on the boys at all times. You’re just about to finish up when Oscar walks into the bathroom,”Slides all set up.” He informs as he walks over to the sink so he can shave his face.
“That was fast.” You comment back, rinsing the conditioner out of your hair, both kids still splashing about in the tub,”Can you hand me my towel?” You ask nicely a minute later
Oscar stops his actions and reaches for your towel, waiting until you step out to wrap it around you,”Thanks.” You smile and dry yourself off as best as you can before pulling your silk robe on and tying it securely, the towel now wrapped around your hair and sitting on your head.
“Did Junior go already?” You ask
“Just left.” Oscar says, focusing on not cutting his face,”What did you have them make?”
“A tres leches cake and chocolate cupcakes.” Angel shouting in glee when he hears that,”Don’t take too long, your ass needs to fire up that grill.” You smirk at your husband as you join him in front of the mirror, pulling your make up bag from the drawer.
“Ya lo se, I’m hurrying. I gotta look good too, not just you.”
“Just saying.” You smile as you pull your stuff out to do a quick beat, Oscar mumbling something incoherent.
“Oooh make sure my burger is well done. Extra cheese on that shit.” You tell him as you prime your face, pushing his buttons every now and then being one of your favorite hobbies.
“Any other request reina?”
“Actually yeah, I’m going to want a hotdog. So make sure that it’s included on my plate.” You smile sweetly, Oscar putting down the razor as he looks over at you smugly.
“Tengo un hot dog para ti right here mami, all you gotta do is ask.”
“You always gotta make shit dirty.” You laugh as you continue on your face,”Almost twenty years together and your mouth still surprises me...don’t even say anything.” You say when you realize that he can also make a joke out of what you just said.
“You make it too easy.” He laughs, wiping his face off with a wet hand rag after, you just giggle in response. You let Oscar get the boys out and change them into their matching swim trunks. Oscar changing into a pair of cargo shorts and plain white tee since it was going to be a rather hot day and he would be outside, his outfit reminding you of when you guys were younger. Some would say simpler times but those words being the complete opposite for you guys.

Okay so, bad news-ish. My laptop charger has finally decided to give out on me. I’ve had my laptop and the charger since middle school - I’m 20 now. I’ve had to replace the battery once, and now it seems as tho my charger has finally given out on me once and for all. I’m gonna try and get a charger soon, before my little vacations starts, but my laptop is ancient so I just have to see where they sell the charger that I need. I’m so sorry, I’m so upset. All I want to do is write lmao. If it comes down to it, I’ll write what I have to on my phone! 😭

Oo for the meme! Brio in a regency setting!! For the prompt like imagine them at a ball!! The outfits the pining 🥺
Ohhh my gosh, anon, you've caught me in such a mood for this, hahaha. Okay okay okay, imagine Beth and Annie have both debuted, and Beth was quickly chosen by Lord Dean and they've gotten betrothed and everything's going pretty well, only then Beth discovers that Annie's pregnant to Lord Greg, who's betrothed to Miss Nancy. This is a SCANDAL, and Beth can't have anyone find out her sister is with child and without husband, so puts her engagement plans on the backburner to try and get Annie married ASAP.
They end up going to every ball in town while Beth tries to get her sister lined up with a real prospect, which is how they end up at the the Dowager Duchess Rosa Martinez' ball and Rosa figures it out quickly but agrees to help them because she likes them and doesn't want to see the two Marks sisters in scandal. She herself though has two eligible sons, the Duke, Nick, and the Marquess, Rio, and it's not long before they get, ahem, involved~
An excerpt beneath the cut!
-
Noah bows forwards, a hand at his slender stomach, as Annie casts Beth an amused look over her shoulder. It belies the light flush on her sister’s cheeks though, and Beth can’t help the lurch of hope in her chest – the image that forms too quickly of a future in days, weeks, years. Noah’s of a good family, and is set to inherit well – an estate and a modest title as a Baron – and if Annie were to find a match in him, if he were to make an offer in the next few weeks…
No.
She mustn’t get ahead of herself.
Beth nods, and watches as Annie offers her gloved hand to Noah and allows herself to be swept up across the ballroom floor as the music changes to the Miss Bass Waltz.
From her vantage point by the stairs, she can see most of the Dowager Duchess’ ballroom – the arched windows overlooking moonlit gardens casting a hazy, dusky glow across the room. Annie’s gown isn’t as refined as Miss Nancy’s or as modern as Miss Diane’s, but the beadwork Ruby had helped Beth lay at the bust and the sleeves (a distraction from the starting outline of Annie’s growing belly) catch the candlelight, and her laugh is bright and melodic and seems to catch the ear of some of the other men on the floor. Beth makes notes in her head – Lord Cohen, Lord Bristow, even perhaps the Marquess’ friend, the Baron Mick – they all seem to take note. If she can get them on her sister’s dance card, if she can fill the thing, surely one will be a real prospect.
She’s so intent on her scheming, she doesn’t realise anyone’s beside her until she feels a tug at her wrist.
Beth blinks, swivels her gaze to the side and feels her breath catch.
It’s not that she didn’t expect to see the Marquess Rio here (it’s his grandmother’s ball after all), but still, she rarely feels prepared to see him. The elegant lines of him, the darkness of his eyes, the fullness of his lips – she wets hers as he lifts her wrist by the dance card neatly fastened there.
The rustle of the paper is loud in her ears as his long fingers fan the thick pages, and she watches his gaze dart over the blank lines of it, her own gloved hand hanging limply between them. After a moment, Rio just hums, arching an eyebrow up at her in a wordless criticism of her empty card, and Beth flushes, tugging her wrist away.
“In case you are forgetting, I am already betrothed,” she tells him, turning her attention back to where Annie glides across the dance floor, feeling rather short of breath when Rio doesn’t move on, but instead turns to stand properly beside her.
The smell of sandalwood and gunpowder fills her nose – a sure sign he has been hunting earlier in the day – and Beth blinks rapidly, remembering the week earlier, when he’d shot the clay pigeon Dean couldn’t, and - - the way he’d looked at her. Beth swallows, and as if he’d read her mind, Rio says:
“Yeah? And where is Lord Boland tonight?”
“He is…” she trails off, uncertain. Her gaze flicks across the floor again, but she still can’t see his broad shoulders, or his slightly lumbering gait.
“Not on your dance card,” Rio says smoothly, and Beth turns around again, blinks up at him, speechless, when suddenly, he grins, mischievous, and offers her a hand. “So if he ain’t here, and your sister’s on the floor already, seems the next waltz is probably ours, darlin’.”
And she should decline, she should say no, should remind him that it’s improper, but he has not dropped his hand and she looks at his face and swears she sees something almost earnest beneath the edge, beneath the charm and mischief, and before she knows it, she’s reaching up to place her hand on top of his and oh, there’s something to it.
The way he closes his fingers around hers, his grip the perfect sort of warmth, even through the fabric of her silk glove, and vaguely, she wonders what his skin might feel like against hers.
Her heart seems to stutter at the thought.

————————————Teaser———————————
The parents were hesitant as they dropped off their children at your house, but you assured them, you will be there to monitor the whole time while Oscar will be there to protect them, they weren’t fans of him, to say the least, so leaving eleven years olds with him wasn’t an option, not really.
Cesar was dressed up as a skeleton, it was the only thing you could find at such short notice, Monse was dressed as a cat, Ruby was a robot and Jamal was a Viking, you were a mummy and Oscar was... well, he was himself.
“I’m so excited, this year we’ll finally go out and trick or treat!” Cesar exclaimed “that if the Prophet$ don’t murder someone, Santos don’t steal something and 19 Street stay in their lane” Ruby corrected “I don’t wanna get shot! I’m a black kid, death rates in conflict are twice as high for black kids!” Jamal said nervously “Jamal! Enough being drama!” Monse rolled her eyes “nothing bad will happen to us, that’s why we have Y/N and Oscar to protect us” Cesar beamed looking at the two of you.
You smiled and ruffled the boy’s hair “come on now, let’s get it over with it” you heard your man speak then opened the door, as he did, he heard a gunshot from distance, the children were standing at the door, you as well, watching countless people run in different directions and scream, Oscar looked at you, his phone rang, he picked it up, it was sad eyes telling him about the conflict in the Prophet$ area, later you heard police cars roaming in the streets and implementing a curfew, you immediately pushed the children and the Santo inside.
The frowns on their faces were unignorable, yet, you couldn’t do anything about it, your phone started ringing, their parents calling to check on them, you assured them that they are okay and that instead, the trick or treat had turned into a sleepover, Oscar wasn’t very keen about it but it would make Cesar feel less crappy about not going on a candy hunt, he truly thought this year would be different.
“Did you see how everyone was running? This could’ve been us! We are in a Santo’s house! What if the Prophet$ decided to raid the house? What if they come for more blood?” Ruby rumbled nervously, breathing heavily “nothing will happen” Monse rolled her eyes “that’s right! Oscar and Y/N will protect us!” Cesar stated, looking at you both “don’t mean to disrespect you, Spooky sir or your wonderful partner, but the only way they can protect us is by giving up military helmets, pads and bulletproof vests!” Jamal argued, the four ended up quibbling, Oscar was getting irritated, they were giving the already stressed Santo a headache “Enough” he shouted.

Heyyyy!
Can you do a one shot where Oscar and Cesar have a sister that is 14 and she likes ruby older brother maybe the oc could be jake t Austin and that they don’t want her dating but they both walk in on them making out and the rest is up to you.
Ofc, love!! I'm sorry I'm just getting to these🙈🙈
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The life of the little sister of the Santos leader and "Lil Spooky" was a hard one when it came to dating, even though you were only younger than Cesar by two minutes. Your love life was basically nonexistent because your brothers wanted to scare off every guy that even glanced your way. However, you didn't really mind until you got to know Jake Martinez, the second oldest of the Martinez bunch. He was a sophomore while you, Cesar, and Cesar's friends were freshmen.
It was casual conversation and texts that turned to phone calls and secret hang outs with each other. Just two people getting to know each other more and falling for each other by the second, but with the big obstacle of your brothers in the way. There were several instances of almost getting caught, but luckily you guys never did until...
Jake had taken you back to your place and into your room that you shared with Cesar. Your brothers weren't supposed to be back until hours later so you determined that it was safe for the next at least two hours. This lead to Jake sitting on your bed with you straddling him as the two of you make out like there is no tomorrow, not taking note of the door opening and the quiet footsteps to the bedroom door.
The door opened which made the two of you jump up and put your hands behind your back. Oscar stood there with his scowl with Cesar next to him with his arms crossed and a disappointed and angry look to his face.
"What the fuck did I just see? I know damn well I didn't see this cabron kissin' you, (Y/N)," Oscar spat out.
"Now, bubs, please calm down," you pouted, "I love him and he loves me,"
"Let me talk to him. Both of you, go out to the living room," Oscar glared at Jake.
"Please, don't hurt him! If you do, I'm never forgiving you for it," you plead as you walk to the living room with Cesar.
After a couple minutes, there was punches being heard so you jumped up with Cesar and bust the door open to see Oscar punching Jake, but Jake wasn't punching back.
"Oscar!" you yelled and pushed him off with all your strength with minimal results, but managed to stop him as he stood up and wiped sweat from his head, "what was that for?!?" you rushed and got the first aid kit from the bathroom and started cleaning Jake up.
"Ok. The two of you can see each other," Oscar said, you started beaming at him, but stopped when he started again, "but if I see even her eyes glossy, I'm coming for you,"
Jake's eyes widened as he shook his head in agreement profusely, "yeah, Spooky. You got it,"
