Drawing the Madurai Meenatchi Amman Temple (the one featured here is the West Gopuram) was definitely a task, but honestly it’s amazing how intricate the architecture is. Really loved incorporating the symbols of the silambu and the two dead fish representing the death of the Pandya King Nedunchezhiyan and Queen Kopperundevi. Kurunthokai-40, The Hero says,

"What could my mother be

to yours? What kin is my father

It is interesting to note that the poet is named after the Metaphor in the Poem.

இயற்கை புணர்ச்சி புணர்ந்த பின்னர், ‘பிரிவர்’ என அஞ்சிய தலைவியைக் கண்டு தலைவன் கூறியது,

என்னுடைய தாயும் உன்னுடைய தாயும் எத்தகையில் உறவினர் ஆவர் ? என் தந்தையும் நின் தந்தையும் எந்த முறையில் உறவினர் ? யானும் நீயும் இதற்கு முன் எவ்வாறு ஒருவரை ஒருவர் அறிந்தோம்? இந்த மூன்றுமே இல்லை என்றாலும் செம்மண் நிலத்தில் பெய்த மழைநீரானது அந்த மண்ணோடு கலந்து அதன் தன்மையை அடைவதைபோல் நம் இரு அன்பு நெஞ்சங்களுக்கு தாமாகவே ஒன்றுபட்டுன.

Mor Kuzhambu - Buttermilk curry. The reference to mor kuzhambu can be seen in sangam literature. குறுந்தொகை - Kuruntokai is a sangam literature anthology written during the period of 300BC-100AD. I came to know about this song when @kryes wrote about it for the Chicago World Tamil conference. முளிதயிர் பிசைந்த காந்தண் மெல்விரல் கழுவுறு கலிங்கங் கழாஅ துடீஇக் குவளை யுண்கண் குய்ப்புகை கழுமத் தான்றுழந் தட்ட தீம்புளிப் பாகர் இனிதெனக் கணவ னுண்டலின் நுண்ணிதின் மகிழ்ந்தன் றொண்ணுதல் முகனே. முளிதயிர் - Curd made with thick reduced milk காந்தண் மெல்விரல் - Fingers like the காந்தள் Kandhal flower (A type of lily) - It is also the state flower of Tamilnadu and national flower of Tamil Eelam. காந்தள் மெல் விரல் - The lady of the house has fingers as soft as the kandhal flower. The song says that the lady of the house (newly married) mixed the thick curd with her soft fingers to make a sour curry. She was in a hurry to finish the cooking, she wiped her hands on her dress. கலிங்கம் - ஆடை - clothes குய்ப்புகை - குய் - Tempering புகை - Smoke She was covered in smoke while she gave a tempering to the curry. புகை கழும - Her eyes were covered with smoke. தீம்புளிப் பாகர் - A sour curry (puli kuzhambu) இனிதெனக் கணவ னுண்டலின் - இனிமை என்று சொல்லி கணவன் சாப்பிடும் பொழுது - Husband enjoyed the food The back story goes something like this. The (செவிலித் தாய்) - care taker / step mother visits the village where the newly weds have started their life. Once she comes back, the family wants to know how the girl is doing. Mainly about cooking as she is new to the kitchen and they want to know how she is managing. The care taker says the following: She mixed the thick set curd with her soft fingers to make a sour curry. Suddenly there was a disturbance in the kitchen. She wipes her hands in her clothes and rushes to the kitchen. In some time, the smoke covers her face and eyes. The lady refers to her eyes as குவளை - Kuvalai flower (water lily). After the husband comes home, she serves the food and he relishes it with much joy!
