It’s impossible for me to express just how excited I am to celebrate this anniversary, or how grateful I am to everyone who’s been with me on this journey. It’s been a wild ride so far, and I’ve accomplished a lot with this story over the past year. But I couldn’t have done it without everyone’s support and encouragement.

I couldn't stop thinking about the newest chapter and I just had to start drawing this scene.

Not gonna lie, this is probably the best drawing of light effects I have done so far, I am very happy with this! although I'm not sure about the rest of the drawing (it feels almost too cluttered)

btw cave's eyes are static. but it doesn't show up very well

(side notes: I tried doing some other effects but I couldn't get the plugin in krita to work. I also planned to have a glitched out cave with the jumpsuit and portal gun looking angry but I felt it wouldn't fit without it being confusing. Still have the drawing tho)

my friend pondered a highschool au for their ttrpg ocs, and then i went 'hmm. interesting. what if my ocs?' and then, well,

Lan-Furen's Case and Lan Zhan

A couple of days ago I came across an excellent meta on Lan Xichen over how by not "wanting to know" who is in the right and who is in the wrong, he is able to maintain a schrodinger's cat syndrome and assume the best of everyone. I thought more about what that then meant for Lan Wangji who visited his mother publicly every month.

Lan Wangji is an extremely righteous character. He has a temper against those that he deems as unrighteous. He can absolutely not take it if someone is using their privilege to oppress others; or if, someone is killing innocents for baseless, useless reasons.

Someone like Lan Wangji would not continue loving a person even if they act for their own gains, petty revenge or selfishly. Simply stating, he can't continue loving a person who has left the road of righteousness.

In his mother's case, it doesn't seem as if bigger forces (such as sect politics) were involved; but it was something personal. We do not know what that something was, thus we cannot judge. Thus, he cannot judge.

I believe his coming over to the Gentian House every month shows perhaps the most important characteristic of his:

Lan WangJi slowly shook his head, “One should not comment without understanding the whole picture.”

I find Lan Wangji and Nie Mingjue's insistence upon their sense of justice similar. Even in dire situations, where it seems stupid to act upon your sense of justice, when everyone around you is acting unjustly, they will insist - Lan Wangji stuck in a cave, injured, protecting someone who is being harassed by those who hold power, hunted down by enemies who are much higher on the social ladder, own much more money, and are many in numbers, despite knowing, inevitably it may cause his own demise and fall. Yet, he doesn't care about that. This happens twice. That's his sense of righteousness and justice. Similarly, Nie Mingjue is ready to kill himself as punishment for killing someone who saved him, yet he must kill Guangyao for killing his clansmen and stuff (so much killing with this guy.)

But Lan Wangji is better, as his justice is embedded with empathy, patience and true efforts to understand the entire story before placing his judgement. He's not free from making false judgements, and societal judgement does affect him.

But, he's not holding to any particular judgement to the ends of his life. He is willing to accept new facts and reform his opinion, reframe his thoughts. He's like that guy on twitter who tweeted something tone-deaf in 2012, but is completely against that in 2023, as now he has new information.

So, Lan Wangji doesn't incriminate people. He doesn't hold personal grudges. He is prone to hatred, jealousy and the stuff - that is what makes him human. But he rarely acts upon it, preferring to remove himself from the situation.

He is such a person.

So, it cannot be known whether the glass was filled and then emptied, or whether it was empty and then it was filled; what I mean is we can't judge from just a half-full/half-empty glass of what the context was; similarly, we can't judge from just the other's actions and situations alone of what the intention, purpose, reasoning, etc was. We can't judge evil or bad that easily, and with all those who were involved in Madam Lan's case - all their souls dispersed, and Lan Qiren being Lan Qiren, Lan Wangji can only judge on what he knows.

What he knows is that his mother was a lovely woman and he was happy to see her; so he visits her still. He is not accepting her actions, or incriminating them, as she is not there to defend herself or to accuse others. He doesn't know if the clan was wrong or if his mother was. I believe, with Lan Wangji's character, that he's strong enough to face the actions of those who he loves.

It’d be inconvenient for him to be more specific, such as Lan XiChen or Lan QiRen.

Lan WangJi answered assuredly, “No.”

Wei WuXian was quite confident in Lan WangJi’s answer. To him, Lan WangJi wasn’t the kind of person who’d hide or run away from the truth. If he denied it, that meant it must have been wrong. He didn’t like to lie, either. In Wei WuXian’s opinion, if someone asked Lan WangJi to lie, he’d rather silence himself and not talk at all. Thus, Wei WuXian immediately excluded the possibility of the gravedigger being these two.

So, this. If Lan Wangji felt any of Wei Wuxian's actions were uncalled for, or unrighteous and cruel, he wouldn't have loved him. But, even by the logic of Great Grudges, Wei Wuxian had every right to kill the Wens (the SSC ones).

But that's beyond the point. The point is that Lan Wangji is stuck in a situation where he can't cast judgment, but still, his actions reflect what he knows and has gathered first-hand; what his actions show is pure love, patience, a strong, but sensitive heart waiting for another chance to understand the truth, yet knowing and accepting that it will never come, and being at peace with that.

Aperture Science is itself an example of schrodinger's cat. The facility is simultaneously alive and dead. The entire system is automated, run by AI. Yet you have cores and turrets and GLaDOS herself who are full of personality and character. Aperture Science sings. It's devoid of human life in the sense that nothing stays alive long enough. There are anomalies like Chell that somehow make it, and there are the ghosts of those who came before or survived just long enough like Cave Johnson and Doug Rattmann. But never do humans come across other living humans in the modern Aperture Science. Even the parts of the facility that have been left abandoned are bursting with plant life. This is a place designed to kill you, and yet is buzzing with life.

Anyways I love this game. I am totally normal about Portal. It's my entire personality.

My last thought in my teeny tiny peabrain mind for now

As much as I do really want Till to do a 180 and beat (or pummel) Luka in the final round, I geniunely wouldn't be surprised if Luka is the only character that's alive by the end of the series.

All of the character's that are (in their own ways) rebelling against Alien Stage are dying or getting greivously injured left and right.

Sua->Dead (went in knowing that trying to tie up the score wouldn't work and sabotaged her own performance so Mizi could live)

Ivan->Dead (Tried to go in giving it his all but saw Till completely gave up, which prompted him to sacrifice himself so that Till could live)

Schrodinger's Hyuna (Tried to break into the arena to save Till and Ivan)

Mizi->Alive but unknown whether or not she'll retreat or press on and become Shcrodinger's Mizi

....But also nearly died that one time 👇🏽 (after saying "fuck the competition, I'll just beat the shit out of you until you die or I get tired)

Till->Alive...physically. Mentally? Emotionally? Not so much.

But was also punished that one time for murdering an Alien in the process of his love confession 👇🏽

Really, Till's only options are to follow Luka's footsteps (finally cave and be the good little human pet) and become the next embodiment of what it means to be a winner of Alien Stage, or rebel one last time and die in the process.

Annnnnd while sabotaging his competitor shows he has the potential to be selfish enough to become like Luka, I do think that Till would lean towards the latter option.

And since Till has nothing left to live for...why wouldn't he just go out with a bang

Luka is the only one completely abiding by the game of Alien Stage, and as a result, his survival is pretty much guaranteed (especially since Hyuna is not in a position to kill him and Mizi probably wouldn't bother because she's already gotten her getback. Plus she's got more pressing matters to worry about. Like not dying). He has survived multiple Alien Stage games after all.

I'm rambling.

Something, something, no one that's rebelled against the Stage has had a good outcome, something something Till either lives to see himself become the thing he hates or dies telling them all to fuck off

Idk if this is anything but it's incredibly telling that Ed hasn't spent any amount of time in the Captains quarters yet. That brief "I'm your captain" conversation was in the hallway, I suppose, but definitely not in the main room.

It was the core home for their friendship in S1 but also the cave of depression and malcontent for Ed during his spiral as the Kraken. Probably a lot of mixed emotions once they're together in that space again.

Not to mention the Schrodinger's Auxiliary Wardrobe situation.

I want season 4 but I’m also sort of scared about it. Right now it’s a hypothetical. Schrodinger’s season 4. Right now it is everything that I’ve dreamed, everything that I hoped for. It is also not real. Intangible. It cannot be experienced. Once it airs it will, of course, be real, and the sweet fruit of new episodes of Succession will, of course, be a far better taste than the faint fog of memory, imagination, and hope I consume now. And yet - its very reality, the thing which makes it so sweet, will also carry with it flaws and disappointments, as all real things do. I know in my heart that this is still better, and yet a part of me longs to stay in Plato’s cave looking at the shadows of the same gifset reappearing on my dash 15 times in one evening, and the ten choice fanfics I read over and over and over. But, when the time comes, I will be brave. I will swallow my fear, I will open my laptop and watch the show, for I know that it is only in braving disappointment that we can taste sweet joys, and also oh my god I miss Tom so much I need him where the hell is he show me his tits he’s been gone so long I need the TITS please please please you’re nothing
