Are the reasons why dlcs don’t require or advertise other dlcs for their content to work or show up because of potential compromised sales, as well as being fare to all customers who buy them?

The most important rule for selling any product is "make it as easy as possible for your customer to buy your product". Putting in roadblocks like "you must own DLC A in order to use DLC B" might get a small number of people to buy DLC A (begrudgingly), but a significantly larger number of other players who would have bought DLC B on its own would choose not to buy it at all. Putting in advertisements for other DLCs is fine as long as it isn't too much , because that typically won't drive (many) players away. It isn't worth it to shoot our own sales in the foot like that.

I am never inclined to make fun of tumblr's cheesy attempts to make money and generally support them even if you consider them cringe. Websites need money to operate and tumblr needs to find a way to make money consistently or it will cease to exist. I do not want tumblr to cease to exist, and the most common alternative method of making money is to collect and sell all of our personal data, which I do not want either. Websites that can support themselves via people willing to spend $25 bucks to commit to a bit is a sign of a brighter and more sustainable version of the internet.

#people are so weirdly averse to the idea of tumblr making money lol #like...websites need money to pay for things. your blog costs money to host and operate #the version of the world u want--where everything is perfectly free always but also never takes your data or asks anything of you #does not and cannot exist unless it's run on donations or something #and if tumblr tried to ask for donations you would eat them alive #so let them sell crabs and blue checks. this is the better universe. i promise

Neopets is so funny right now. It's a 24-year-old website and half its pages haven't been updated in 15 years. Its ostensible audience is children. The core active audience appears to be nostalgic 20-40-year-olds. Old code means no accounts or pets can ever be renamed. The virtual pound is full of virtual pets named after Justin Bieber. It has an economy and inflation is rampant. New ownership is combating this with the stimulus of random super-rare items via daily quests and events, while the equivalent of Neopian Upper-Crust complain that their investments are deflating. You can't say seaweed or grapes.
