mobius stands outside his home watching a life he cannot have. he is lost without his purpose. we watched a whole season of this man making room for loki in his life, giving him a chance to prove his worth. this man slept on his desk! he loses trust in loki after the “backstabbing” only to realize the organization he spent centuries defending, trusting, believing he’s doing good by pruning variants were built on lies, so he could only trust his loki. we see he cannot stand to see loki time slipping because of the anguish on his face, we watch him deal with the stress of possibly losing the only man he could trust and risk his skin. he lingers on the gangway after o.b. tells him it’s too late because he needs loki. not only to help with the tva, but because he unveiled the truth. he betrayed him and came back. he wanted him in S2 but now he needed him in S2. he confided in loki that he never had intentions on returning to his place in the timeline, why would he face what he loss? he expected loki to still be there after everything. he only returned because he had nothing left in the tva and learns he has nothing in his timeline either. without loki he belongs nowhere, so he has no choice but to let the time pass.

Soooo late on this but I love how much robby and sam genuinely like demetri and enjoy being friends with him in s2??? like they're all hanging out outside of miyagi-do, they find his neuroticisms funny but they're not laughing at him? A thing about trying to plot out QS canon-divergence fixit where the marriage is averted is that the obvious solution to “she was already pregnant before they knew the truth” is, well, end the pregnancy. The wider world doesn’t seem to know that she’d conceived prior to marriage, so can’t be more than a month or so along as of the wedding for it to be plausible. People have been inducing abortion in dire circumstances despite physical risk and moral stigma throughout history. QS has magic at her disposal and the means to remove herself from society unnoticed during the recovery period, and even if it’s taboo, is it more taboo than incest?

Like i said it felt really tropey and by that i meant that it’s just Everything Good Happens forever and…..that’s it ? like idk we were building up to this huge catharsis sort of thing and then we got to it and it was so sudden and not a good payoff and just kind of nothingburger of an ending . the fact that everyone just forgives siffrin bothers me, or at least the fact that they don’t confront them about the shit they’ve said and done. call me a mental illness villainizer but i think if you’re a fucking asshole and doing the most insensitive things to the people you care about then hey, i think those ppl have a right to fucking tell you off for it. likeeee idk being at your lowest point …… not an excuse …. not feeling it chief ……. like sure the message is to move past your mistakes or whatever but ? that doesn’t mean just getting away with it ??? and i just really don’t understand Why everyone forgives him. honestly at the end of the day the ending is just one problem, the root of which are the characters. everyone feels like trope cardboard cutouts. oh, this is the smart one. this is the smol bean. this is the himbo. and they all care for each other btw. the last unicorn post from earlier has me thinking about the master. that yana is still in there, you know? is still someone he was, if even for a brief flash across the life of a time lord. there’s no way to unlive that life. there are ways to twist it later, sure, to make utopia into hell on earth. but the life was lived. in much the same way that the doctor can remember, can feel, the love he held onto as john smith even as that life is ripped out of his hands. the doctor choose denial and then grief and then to shutter it all away. and so john smith died, and so professor yana died, and the doctor and the master live on. the doctor has done this before, and he lives in orbit around humanity, trying to keep the best parts of them and hold them deep enough to take root (which he can pretend he gets to choose, as a time lord. as a human, it all floods in and can’t be dug back out.) but what about the master, right?

to borrow a turn of phrase: i think there are two time lords left in the universe, and they both learned how to regret.
