meet my sleepy short son: my shenlong gijinka! 🙈

i will gush about him under the cut

it feels weird to be showing him off like this, but it also feels weird that when i go looking for what I've posted of him so far there's like almost nothing. especially nothing showing his personality.

i'm planning a story (comic) centered around him and the dragon balls being in peril, but i'm afraid to start working on it for real because you never know when new DB--as in the object--lore will drop. even the Super manga drops tidbits like nothing. 😖 (toyotaro you nerd, i know you want to dive into DB lore so badly!!!)

anyway! Ya Boi Shenlong:

grumpy by nature

overtired from being summoned nearly every year for the last 30 years or so

has no current hobbies other than sleeping (can you blame him) but enjoys puzzles of any kind

straightforward, to the point. not afraid to speak his mind (with mortals anyway)

loves drinking coffee while he's on Earth (he has sleepy bitch disease due to being overworked)

he has not spent a lot of time on Earth in this form in general, and is quickly getting sick of most interactions involving people going AHAHA HOW ARE YOU THAT SMALL

honestly i always planned to have him show deep respect for Piccolo and Dende as his creators and caretakers, so I'm so happy Super Hero made that canon!!! huge W for me 🐌💚💛🧡

I just deleted 3 more paragraphs of info dumping cause I'm pretending I have self control, but i will say: I've had this gijinka for over a decade, and I care a lot about him and love drawing him. so i will likely continue to share more about him even if i don't kick off my comic any time soon. (this mini-comic was just an exercise really--his initial meeting with Goku in his humanoid form is a little different in the Real Story 👍)
