My dsmp Tubbo and Tommy canons (I can do whatever I want and these are canon facts to me)
Tubbo:
-smoked cigarettes a lot during the Schlatt administration to get away from all of the… everything. Fundy was the one who started this for him.
-hates alcohol because of Schlatt and Wilbur. Before being part of Schlatt’s cabinet he had to deal with Wilbur being drunk and mentally ill too.
-is Wilbur’s adopted brother, calls Phil by his name instead of “dad” even though he was literally raised by him. Also doesn’t call Wilbur his brother unless it’s brought up in some way.
-Tommy is his best friend. He is Tommy’s favorite person. Their conversations are very monotone.
-has breathing problems due to smoking. Has tried to quit, but can’t. Instead smokes weed every so often because it’s better than nicotine.
-has bipolar disorder, when he’s manic he wakes up at 5 am and does yard work. When he’s depressed, he can’t get out of bed for days. He knows he’s bipolar, many people do, but it still was a reason his marriage fell apart (not his fault)
-he did not get custody of Michael when he and Ranboo divorced, because he didn’t fight for it because doesn’t think he can really raise a child with all his personal issues (in a “I would never have kids because I’m too mentally ill and traumatized” way)
-bonded with Quackity during the Schlatt administration, is maybe the only one who knows to what extent Quackity was fucked up by Schlatt. They have a weird relationship that’s similar to a mother and son. Don’t question it.
-I’m a fan of dadschlatt so in my brain Tubbo is Schlatt’s biological son, and they only find this out when they’re working together and Schlatt grills him on his family history and it strangely matches up with that one time Schlatt decided to leave the girl he accidentally impregnated and fully skip town. So when Schlatt and Quackity get married Quackity is basically Tubbo’s stepmom.
-he and Wilbur are like 12 years apart, when Fundy is born, Wilbur is 20. When Fundy and Tubbo meet for the first time, Fundy is 8 and Tubbo is 16. And, yes, Tubbo went to live with Wilbur when he turned 16 for reasons and was like “Wil who the fuck is this child” and Wilbur is like “oh that’s my daughter” ???
Tommy:
-trans girl.
-met Wilbur before she met Tubbo. They lived in the same place. When Tubbo went to live with Wilbur he was immediately bombarded by a strange hyperactive fifteen year old.
-Tommy’s parents left her. She didn’t believe that they did at first, but they did. (By the way I’ve decided L’Manburg was a commune) Because her parents have left her alone on the commune, she’s sort of raised by all of the adults and herself. This is how she knows Wilbur.
-has bpd and severe abandonment issues. Originally attached herself to Wilbur before meeting Tubbo and becoming close with him. During the Pogtopia era, Tommy goes insane and completely attaches herself to Wilbur again.
-When Wilbur dies during war, Tommy’s whole personality switches and instead of being majorly depressed she pretends that it didn’t happen and stays completely delusional for like a month.
-during Exile, she had time to think about herself and her identity and it’s when she comes out to herself as trans. Dream is also the first person she actually comes out to. And I can’t decide if Ghostbur is a hallucination or not, but Tommy doesn’t know either it’s ok.
-very delusional. Like, schizophrenic. Genuinely believed during Exile that Dream was her best friend and wasn’t like beating her and destroying her stuff every single day. Dream doesn’t understand if she’s being serious when she’s like “hi bestie” so he keeps doing worse and worse wondering how much it’ll take to break her.
-gets therapy and takes antipsychotics now. Always brings up the stories of the wildest delusional episodes she’s ever experienced. During exile she was certain she had like 5 girlfriends at once.
-when she ends up trapped in jail with Dream she almost kills herself before Dream does it for her. The pain of being trapped with him again was worse than emotional. Worse than ptsd.
-has complicated feelings towards Quackity, will never forget the time she watched him and Schlatt argue. She’d never heard a “loving couple” sound that angry before. Though she doesn’t know every little detail about the relationship.

cellbit dsmp.... could be a saving grace or a living nightmare depending on when he joined
like early l'manberg? saving grace. He's got the paranoia that cWilbur had yet to earn, I genuinely think there's a good chance he would have been able to spot Eret going turncoat. And it wouldn't have hurt to have a guy who could actually fight in this faction (cccellbit's pvp abilities aren't that noteable but qcellbit is a renowned killer so we can pretend). Maybe things would have turned out differently. Maybe the Final Control Room would spare some lives, leaving Wilbur or Fundy or Tommy or Tubbo with one extra
But if he joined during elections era? More complicated. Just looking at how he was during the QSMP elections, I think he might have been a SWAG supporter? Non-zero chance that he would have been cQuackity's vice president, which is funny to me. Also, based on how he tried to handle the Federation I think that when/if Schlatt won he would stay in L'Manburg and try to spy, leading to a Manburgian cabinet like
Tubbo 🤝 Fundy 🤝 Cellbit: I Sure Hope They Don't Realize I'm The Only Spy Here
If he joined when Pogtopia v. Manburg was already in full swing, I think he would have gone for Pogtopia. cWilbur spends the whole time thinking he's an assassin hired to kill him and is just waiting for that knife to the neck. Never happens, though. He's on board with the Kill Schlatt cause, if not Wilbur being in charge- not personal, but he wouldn't want himself to be in charge either, and he has objections to Wilbur on similar grounds. Which probably makes things just that bit more stressful and worse, in the long run
For the life of me I can't figure out how he'd feel about the Butcher Army stuff
Would have supported cQ eating Schlatt's heart 100%. In general I think he and cQuackity would vibe, no matter where he appears on the timeline. If he joined before November 16th he'd understand the weight of Q eating Schlatt's heart and be tactful about it, but if he joined after he'd be like. A fellow enjoyer of cannibalism! What are the odds! And just assume that they had a shared hobby, not knowing that was a one-time thing
Could have quite the time getting possessed by The Egg
There's no way that he has a good reaction to the prison torture stuff, no matter what happens. Actually really interested about what he'd think of it, being on the one hand someone who suffered in the prison system, and on the other hand considering how he reacted to BBH capturing Ron. Non-zero chance he could get onboard and involved. Just depends on when he joins and how much he knows about the guy
I think Las Nevadas would unsettle him and if he joined as late as s3 I think he wouldn't go for any of the factions. Might put that paranormal research to use and go against The Egg
And also if he'd been there during ho16 he would have gotten a folding chair or something to put on that pressure plate. Bam. No Ranboos were harmed in this pyschocompetitive rivalry
OH this is an older ask but i am rotating it in my mind on loop rn. i am THINKING about this. ik i talked about cellbit being around for lmanberg but i like to imagine he would have joined around the time ranboo and puffy did, right after nov 16. he never knew wilbur as he was and met ghostbur a handful of times, which would make him meeting revivebur later on sooo much more interesting. he would be so standoffish with this guy. like oh you're the guy i keep getting compared to. nice to finally met you. so i heard you blew yourself the fuck up and destroyed your country and made your father kill you. what was that about huh. and wilbur would HATE him he would detest this man. you know how when two people are so similar but just different enough that they clash horribly??? that's them. they go about things the same way but have very different things that they want to do so they disagree on everything and are equally stubborn about it. they would drive everyone around them INSANE.
and if we're keeping cellbit's backstory the same as q!cellbit's then he's already got a history with bbh, so he might be tempted to join the badlands. he would LOVE the egg arc omggg he would go crazy for that shit. he would be obsessed. since cc!cellbit wanted to be a villain when he joined the qsmp (and got distracted by Gay Roleplay) i think he would love to act the part of an egg infected villain :3 i like to think the egg would be able to sense his bloodlust and try to manipulate him into helping it. and i think he would for a bit!! whether he's actually infected or just pretending so he can gather information and betray them later, idk, but he'd certainly play a part in the eggpire somehow, that's for sure. he'd fit right in with them :3
HOWEVER i do think that after the red banquet, or even during it, he would denounce or betray the eggpire (which would be insane, imagine hannah betraying the pro-omlette team and then cellbit immediately going HA YOU THOUGHT!! and betraying the eggpire, the plot twist would be crazy) and i think he would join the syndicate right after. he'd be sooo good in the syndicate i am so serious. cellbit himself is kinda friends with ranboo and they click so well so i think they would have a great time roleplaying together!!! imagine him escaping to the end with the rest of the syndicate +kristin AAAAAA syndicate cellbit...... save me syndicate cellbit
and i would LOVE to hear the insane homoerotic way wilbur would write him into hitting on 16. you KNOW cellbit would be involved in las nevadas/the burger van arc somehow. we'd have a three way homoerotic psychocompetetive rivalry going on. idk what he would even do to get involved but you just know he would involve himself somehow. i think quackity and wilbur would fight over him a little bit and cellbit would be a little shit and tell them he'd join the country/faction of whichever of them could give him the best offer in terms of riches or weapons or other benefits or whatever and then he'd leave them to fight. he loves stirring shit up <3 but i think he would get involved because he'd be friends with ranboo and wants to make sure they're doing okay. the syndicate sticks together!!!! i do think he'd ultimately get more involved with las nevadas as cquackity's vice bc i think cq would offer him a chance to torture cdream in prison and cellbit would be like. absolutely vibrating with excitement. he would accept immediately. when cq is tired he sends cellbit in his place and cdream DREADS those days, bc at least quackity is methodical and clean with his torture. cellbit just goes absolutely ham and gets very close to killing him multiple times. oh cellbit would have such a blast beating the shit out of dream <3

I would enjoy protégé au if it was Tubbo because that would slap
Dude I crave c!Tubbo and c!Dream team-up content so bad coz on some level their motivations are similar?? Both want peace tho for Tubbo this desire is limited to his circle of friends. And they have a lot of similar characteristics. Like I see a world where c!Dream manages to get c!Tubbo around to his way of thinking (partly because they already have some similarities partly because he finds him in a vulnerable position and takes advantage of it), especially if the AU takes place during Exile when c!clingy's relationship is shattered and c!Tubbo has a strained relationship with his cabinet.
As with any such AU you do have to ask why c!Dream would decide that's a good means to an end and how it'd affect the plan but it's fun to ponder.

Tubbo yelped, narrowly missing the edge of the cabinet and falling, his arms instinctively moving to grab something, but they never did. The rope his leg was secured to went taut with a harsh snap, a spasm of pain shooting through his leg while he hung there, his cloak beginning to block his sight. The lightheadedness of being upside down kick in, along with the half-lidded eyes and numbness of his leg. He could feel conscious slipping from him inch by inch, and before he knew it he was just a beat away from passing out.
Until he wasn't.
He hadn’t properly registered what was happening, except for when something warm enveloping him from under. Shit. Tubbo tried to scramble back, only to be stopped by the rope. “Stop, stop, stop!” Tubbo yelped, pushing the fingers away from him. “I’m not going to hurt you, just stay still,” Ranboo instructed, his words soft. “Ranboo, please, stop,” Tears pricked at his eyes while he helplessly laid within the human’s grip, squirming occasionally against the fresh wave of pain moving throughout his numb leg.
His vision was cloudy, his throat hurt, and his eyes were threatening to close. He couldn’t, though. Not when he’s vulnerable in a human’s grip. “Please, calm down.”
“Stop..” Tubbo whined, nearly yelling again as his leg was free, pins and needles moving throughout his leg while it returned to its normal- no, abnormal position. It was broken. “Fuck…” Tubbo whined, placing a hand on his broken leg. “Put- put me down.” Tubbo tried, and surprisingly, the cold counter was soon his holder.
Ranboo crouched down, his hands curled against of the counter while his covered face stared at him blankly. “Fuck, fuck, fuck.” Tubbo whined again. “I- I could help you?” Ranboo offered. Tubbo rapidly shook his head. “I can do it fine, just leave.” Tubbo choked on his words, tears now streaming down his partly-scarred cheeks. “Sure, right, okay.” Ranboo stood and backed away slowly before fully leaving the room with a click of the door.
Tubbo sat on the counter quietly, a hand clamped over his mouth to stifle his hiccuping sobs. He pressed his lips in to a thin line then placed his hands behind him. It was slow, but he could manage pushing himself backward towards his makeshift medical supplies in the wall.
It was a lousy cast, and was really just medical tape wrapped tightly around his leg, but it would be fine. Right? He’d just stay here for a while. Maybe he should go stay with Tommy? No. He should treat this on his own, he doesn’t need someone to help him. He’s been solo for a year now, he doesn’t need to break that.
It wasn’t helping. It was a bit, but not much. He couldn’t walk, and more importantly, he couldn’t get food, which was taking its affect on him now.
“Hey, um, this is really stupid, I- I don’t even know where you’re at, or if you’re still here… but, I just wanted to ask how your… leg is doing, is it- you know, healing?” Ranboo’s voice beamed from outside the wall suddenly. . . he was showing genuine concern for the borrower.
“I’m fine.” Tubbo announced.
“Can- can you walk yet?”
“No.”
Ranboo didn’t respond for a bit. Tubbo sat in anticipation for the next words, but they were late to come. He started to believe the human had left after disappointment washed over him over the fact his little snack couldn’t walk yet.
“There’s medicine out here if you want it.” Was all he said.
Tubbo had never had human medicine before. A lot of borrowers will mix random herbs and call it medicine. But they weren’t pills like humans have, they had a lousy soup-like thing. He didn’t even know if he could eat a human-sized pill. He could try, but what if it was a trap? He couldn’t escape from it due to his leg.. gods he’s overthinking. “It’s not a trap if you’re thinking that.”
“To be fair, you saying that makes it more suspicious, bossman.”
Tubbo heard Ranboo sigh in amusement. “It’s here if you’d like it.” He said again. Tubbo made a small noise in acknowledgement. He doubted the human heard it but he really didn’t care right now. Sleep was pulling at his eyes and before he knew his heart beat had dropped and conscious slipped out of him.
Leg pain had woken him up. Tubbo groggily propped himself up against the dusty wall and rubbed his eyes with the palm of his hand. Ranboo’s past words repeated in his head. There was medicine set out for him, right. No. It was a trap. . . or poison. Not medicine. A human would never do that for his kind.
He knew this, and still, in the back of his mind, he pondered on what was actually out there. Maybe there was nothing and Ranboo was just toying with him, trying to get him out onto the counter and vulnerable so he could overpower him. Would he be eaten? Kept as a pet in a jar or a cage? Flattened? Cooked? Endless endings.
And that was why he continued to lay in bed. And lay, and lay, and lay for weeks. He slept through most of it, and if he hadn’t been sleeping he was either having a short conversation with Ranboo or salvaging the last of his food. He’d run out three days ago and it was starting to affect him badly.
Nearly six weeks had passed, Tubbo had been without food for almost a week now. He hadn’t gotten up in a bit, the last time he did he could manage a short walk with a bad limp. Perhaps he should try it again.
He could move his leg better than he could a week ago, and it definitely felt better to walk on now. He had a limp, but he could manage with going out to get food.
He limped through the room to the rope he’d set in the back of the cabinet. Shit. He couldn’t climb this, it'd fuck his leg up again, right? He supposed he could go on the counter… but he’d need a rope for that as well. He could go a bit longer without food, maybe.. or maybe Ranboo could help? No. Just climb the rope and get food.
It wasn’t as bad as he thought it would be, truth be told. His pace was a bit slow while he tried to keep his leg steady and not move it quickly or drastically, but within moments he’d found himself in the dark cabinet. He felt around for any type of box or bag, a wave of relief washing over him as he brushed over a familiar box. Hopefully.
He maneuvered though it, breaking the cracker into four to store easier. He stuffed the last quarter into the now-full bag. The cabinet door opened, catching Tubbo off guard. “Fuck,” Tubbo frowned, gazing at the masked human ahead of him. He looked relieved.
“Sorry,” The two muttered in unison.
Tubbo looked down in embarrassment, then back up with a genuine, small smile, while Ranboo huffed in amusement again. He did that a lot. "It’s good to see you’re… doing better,” Tubbo nodded, the grin gone. “Right, well, I’m doing a stream in the kitchen, you may want to… lay low?” Ranboo suggested.
“Okay,” Tubbo nodded again, taking a hesitant step back.
**
Ranboo closed the cabinet door after their encounter to allow the tiny his privacy. He hadn’t completely grasped the whole borrower concept yet, probably from Tubbo’s neglect for telling him information and Google’s unhelpful results.
Not that he could blame the borrower; someone as small on him clearly wouldn’t feel safe sharing information on his species. If he was really that desperate for information, he could ask Wilbur, given that he had a much closer bond with Tommy than Ranboo had with Tubbo.
He had time before his stream, he could probably squeeze in a visit to Wilbur’s? No, that would be stupid to go there just to get advice on how to win Tubbo over. They’re making progress; it won’t take too long. Hopefully.
The stream went fine, Tubbo assumingely stayed.. wherever he was. The walls, maybe? That seemed like the most logical option. He remembered Wilbur briefly muttering about it to Tommy on a call. Whatever.
He idly typed ‘good stream’ in Ranmail then began cleaning his… terribly messed up kitchen. He frowned at the sight of raw egg from the subgoal, and countless wrappers and unclosed bags. Flour was everywhere, and a partially eaten cake was in the middle of it.
“Hey, bossman,” Tubbo’s voice was quiet, but he managed to hear it. Ranboo turned, his eyes landing on the small form on the counter. He crouched, curling his hands around the counter. “Hey, what’s up?”
“I- I um… gods this is stupid, but I- I just wanted to.. thank you for talking with me for- for the past few weeks and- um- untying me.”
Ranboo smiled even though it wasn’t visible. “Did Tommy put you up to this?”
“What? How do you even- no, he didn’t…”
“Alright, well, you’re welcome. You seemed like you could use the company.”
Tubbo fiddled with his thumbs while thinking of a response. “Yeah, Tommy’s been so worked up with his human lately. A- And I’m also sorry that I was so… quippy? with you. My- my kind really aren’t supposed to talk, or even be spotted by a human, so-“ Ranboo shook his head. “I get it.” He said softly. “So- uh.. yeah, thank you.” Tubbo smiled genuinely. Tubbo took a step back, and Ranboo nodded shortly. A beat of silence passed before the borrower spoke up again. “So…uh, what’d you do to your kitchen?”
Ranboo looked back at the kitchen island then back at the tiny. “I don’t even know.” Tubbo huffed in subtle amusement, but it was there. The borrower opened his mouth to speak again, but was cut off.
“Tubbo!” Tommy’s muffled voice called from (assumingely) the walls, catching both Tubbo and Ranboo’s attention. “Now he comes. Hold on,” Tubbo muttered, holding a finger up as a sign to wait, then disappearing beyond the walls. The two’s probably quieted conversation couldn’t be heard from out here, so Ranboo returned to cleaning while he waited.
**
“Tommy?” Tubbo called out as he maneuvered though the dark hallway until he spotted Tommy “Hey, big man!” Tommy grinned, but it fell a moment later. “Why’re you limping?”
“Oh, I- I uh… broke my leg,”
Tommy gaped at that. “You fucking what? Shit, Tubbo I’m sorry I didn’t visit you- I, uh, was giving you space because of what happened the last time I came,” Tommy fretted. “It’s fine, you worry too much." Tubbo paused for a moment. "What’re you here for, bossman?”
Tommy stayed quiet for a moment or two. “I wanted to visit you.” Tommy shrugged.
“I’ve got a human to attend to, so, ma-“
“You’ve what? You’ve made peace with Ranboo?” Tommy said, a shit-eating grin plastered upon his face. Something about his eyes said he was about to bolt through the tunnels and straight out onto the counter to talk to Ranboo. He did.

Speaking of Fundy did we
Ever get to know why he got recruited?
Like foolish is strong, Purpled is Bedwars, and when he sought Fundy out no one knew about his prophetic dream stuff
There's a few reasons why!
For one thing, c!Quackity and c!Fundy were friends during the Manberg and New L'Manberg administrations. They were in c!Schlatt's cabinet together and had close, complicated relationships with him in different ways. They worked under c!Tubbo together, and very often agreed on what decisions the president should make. They were both part of the Butcher Army, and planned their moves together. c!Quackity would have known that even though c!Fundy might not have the most impressive skillset compared to some, he does have experience being part of a country and all the intricacies of navigating that world. They've worked together, they're fond of each other, and they know each other well: he's an easy recruit.
Another, potentially darker reason is that he knew to some extent what state of mind his old friend was in. Remember, after Doomsday, c!Fundy was completely alone. He isolated himself away from everyone because he felt both overwhelmed and as if he had been abandoned, but this didn't really bring him peace of mind. c!Fundy is desperate to be loved by someone, particularly by an authority figure. And while c!Quackity didn't do anything overtly malicious to get c!Fundy's attention like he did with c!Foolish or c!Purpled, he definitely played on the issues and doubts he already knew were there.
I wouldn't say that this was entirely cold and calculated manipulation on c!Q's part, though. He tends to project his insecurities on other people, which is at its most blatant during the events of Las Nevadas 3. c!Quackity, like c!Fundy, is scarred by abandonment even as he willingly isolates himself. I think he saw c!Fundy going down a lonely and bitter road, similar to the one he was on, and wanted to extend a hand to someone he genuinely saw as a friend by offering coping mechanisms and a sense of purpose he thought (or wanted to think) were working for himself. Unfortunately, we saw from Into Pogtopia just how well those attempts at helping him worked.

Izuku wasn’t sure how he got here, in what was apparently a drug van with a bunch of random people.
“ Potions become highly addictive with long term use, which is why it’s important to regulate their intake.” And that was apparently Wilbur, the blond boy’s brother. The older man had been ranting about the drugs, which they also called potions, which he apparently made? They didn’t look very familiar to Tommy, but he wasn’t very knowledgeable about that sort of stuff so he wasn’t sure.
“ You’re boring the shit out of us Wilbur.” The blond, Tommy apparently, deadpanned. Wilbur’s face screwed up in annoyance as he tossed a crumbled piece of paper at Tommy, who swatted it out of the air with a screech. The child, was it even moral to have a child in a drug van Izuku didn’t know, laughed at the pair’s shenanigans. His tail, similar to a fox’s, was wagging furiously behind him.
Izuku really hated to break the good mood, but-“ where am I?”
Wilbur paused, his eyes glancing at him from behind round frames as he said,” You’re in L’Manburg! The home of the free!” He tacked on some jazz hands in emphasis, which was mockingly repeated by his younger brother.
“ Right, and where is L’Manburg?” Izuku questioned slowly, earning confused looks from the other three.
“ The Dream SMP?” Wilbur replied just as slowly, giving him a careful but considering look.
Izuku’s heart began to speed up as he said,” I have no clue where that’s at. I’m from Musutafu, Japan-“
”-Is that like Utah?”
“ What’s Utah?”
“- and I just magically appeared here.” He finished desperately.
Wilbur frowned thoughtly, leaning back on a counter as he contemplated the situation.” I don’t know where Musutafu Japan is, but I might know someone who does?”
“ Do you mean grandpa?” The child asked, his ears drooping slightly as his tail slowed to a nervous halt.
Tommy seemed just as nervous, eyes darting between Izuku and Wilbur with a tenseness in his shoulders that startled the green-haired boy.
Wilbur just sighed, setting his head back to lightly hit the cheap wooden cabinet behind him.” Yeah. If anyone knows where “Japan” or whatever is, it’d be him. I’ll write up a letter and send it to him. No promises of a reply though Midori”
Tension rippled through the room, setting it In awkward silence that rang like warning bells in Izuku’s chest. Wilbur, probably noticing his anxiety, smiled thinly” you guys can go out and play or whatever. I think I overheard Tubbo talking about getting a bee farm set up- how about you guys help him?”
“ That’s a great idea Big Man!” Tommy stood up with a burst of energy before darting out the door. Fundy, to Izuku’s private amusement, rolled his eyes before jumping off of the couch. He outstretched a hand for Izuku to take, leaving the older boy to fumble for a minute before pathetically reaching his own out. Fundy gently took his hand, tugging him towards the door before waving back.
A quick glance was all he got before they were out the door, but it was enough to catch the tired look in the man’s eyes and his crushing grip on an odd looking pen.
Izuku recognized that look- he’d know it anywhere. It’s the same look that was always in his mother’s eyes. The kind that simultaneously shredded his own heart, and made him feel incredibly small.
He hoped Wilbur was okay.

hey so uhhhh Late-August made a new dsmp animatic ( “Desolate” ) and it’s literally so beautiful please watch it. anyways, if you didn’t know, their first animatic ( “Innocence” ) really blew up (and you should watch that too, it’s also amazing) and i’m kinda a little bit maybe obsessed with both lol. so uh i just wanted to make this post pointing out some of the parallels i could find between Innocence and Desolate. i might be totally overthinking this, and this got really long (oops) but hey it was fun to think about.
this is kinda messy, possibly incoherent, and looping all over the place, but i tried my best to keep it in roughly the order of events in Desolate. there will be a | [innocence / desolate] under the picture(s) that says where they’re from, to hopefully minimize confusion.
let’s begin!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
innocence
Tumblr media Tumblr media
desolate
tying the two animatics together really nicely, to start it off. the end of Innocence has tommy, tubbo, and the other survivors grimly looking on at l’manberg’s remains, while Desolate opens up with tommy, tubbo, quackity and fundy (the cabinet and main-ish characters for dsmp season 2) surveying the damage in the aftermath of the war. very smooth. perfect for watching the two animatics back to back, and a nice reminder for people who watch them separately.
Tumblr media
desolate
Tumblr media
innocence
ghostbur wakes up in a forest! nice little callback to the beginning of Innocence, where wilbur spawns in a forest. the scene from Desolate is also more washed out and gray, presumably because ghostbur is. well. a ghost. he’s dead, and the general vibe isn’t as hopeful/happy as it was in Innocence, before all the war and insanity and bloodshed.
Tumblr media
desolate
Tumblr media
innocence
bit of an obvious one, but i think it’s really cool how Late-August showed ghostbur remembering his death. not to mention, this also emphasizes his character’s color as blue.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
innocence
Tumblr media Tumblr media
desolate
interesting how the tables have turned, isn’t it? in Innocence, wilbur was looking down on dream, confident in his independence and proud of his country. and in Desolate, it was dream who sat on the wall, looking down on tubbo -- looking down on the president of l’manberg.
Tumblr media
innocence
Tumblr media
desolate
another reversed scenario. tubbo was put in the box by schlatt at the festival, and subsequently executed by techno -- someone he trusted not to hurt him. and now tommy’s the one behind bars, awaiting tubbo’s judgement. and tubbo’s choice was to exile him. tommy was banished from his home, the one he fought so hard for, by his own best friend. ouch.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
innocence
Tumblr media Tumblr media
desolate
not quite the same now is it?
in both scenes, tommy’s sitting and tubbo looks at him. the composition is pretty similar. but in the scene from Innocence, tommy’s wearing his l’manberg outfit: a symbol of rebellion, and a symbol of freedom. tubbo looks at him with care and worry in his eyes, the lighting warm. he’s wearing his normal clothes; this is who he is at his core.
meanwhile, in the scene from Desolate, tommy’s in his normal clothes, behind bars. he’s his raw self, without all the weight of fighting a revolution. tubbo, however, is in his suit; he has all the responsibility of being president of a country just barely beginning to recover from a war that literally destroyed it. he looks at tommy with his gaze hard and his expression guarded. what is tubbo feeling? it’s difficult to say, but he’s not nearly as open as he used to be. he has to be professional now. here, the lighting is cold.
Tumblr media
innocence
Tumblr media
desolate
and of course the iconic parallel, the one everyone is screaming about in the comments (not really, but you get what i mean). i’m honestly not sure what to say here, but like. just look at it. isn’t this wonderful.
in Innocence, tommy shouts at dream, furious and frustrated. dream stands there silently, impassively, his body language showing nothing.
but in Desolate, dream’s the one shouting. he’s finally had enough. he grabs tommy’s shirt and snaps. this is the first time in both animatics that dream has expressed any sort of outward emotion. tommy is slack in his hold, shocked at this outburst. and i mean, that encapsulates the feeling of watching that go down in the smp pretty well, doesn’t it? we were all pretty shocked too.
Tumblr media
innocence
not quite a parallel but very cool detail; in Innocence, there’s this shot of tommy pointing a crossbow at schlatt while an older version of him, wearing wilbur’s coat, appears behind him. it really highlights the canonical parallels between them, and hints at tommy falling down the same path wilbur did. pretty neat.
but it does tie in quite nicely with...
Tumblr media
desolate
tommy and tubbo with wilbur’s hat and schlatt’s horns respectively. a beautiful illustration of the parallels between the generations, so to speak. plus, wilbur’s hat is blue?? not only is it a nice contrast to schlatt’s red, but it also continues ghostbur’s color theme in Desolate: blue.
not to mention...
Tumblr media
innocence
the compositional contrast...it hurts. in Innocence, tommy and tubbo are looking at each other, care in their eyes and smiles on their faces. tommy casually has a hand on tubbo’s shoulder, showing him that they’re fighting together. but in Desolate, they’re turned away. tommy and tubbo face opposite directions, backs turned on each other, as they go down different paths.
and instead...
Tumblr media
desolate
now techno’s the one with tommy. techno’s the one taking tommy in, giving him support and a place to stay. techno has his hand on tommy’s shoulder, letting him know that he doesn’t have to fight alone. (also sbi feels lol.) and tommy realizes that he doesn’t have to be strong all the time. he doesn’t have to rely on only himself, or dream. and that’s important for him, because he just escaped an exile where he was alone with nobody but his dead brother and the one who ordered him exiled. now, someone’s got his back. now, tommy can fight for his discs and know that techno will help him, not out of pity, but because he wants to.
Tumblr media
innocence
Tumblr media
desolate
uhhh idrk what to say but. different discs; one is being let go of, one is being clung onto. interesting how, in Desolate, tommy’s holding blocks and not mellohi or cat. in Innocence, tommy gave up mellohi for l’manberg’s independence, and now all he’s got is another disc to remind him of what he’s fighting for.
Tumblr media
innocence
Tumblr media
desolate
the composition is exactly the same!! wilbur and tommy are both watching their home be destroyed; wilbur watches the van (and later l’manberg) blow up, while tommy watches logstedshire go boom. draws even more parallels between wilbur and tommy’s characters. pretty neat stuff.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
innocence
Tumblr media
desolate
alright, this is a little more difficult to explain, but imma try my best.
the only parts with this sort of moving, spreading-out animation/transition in both animatics (which unfortunately is not capturable in a screenshot) are here: once with the dream team (the enemy), once with pogtopia (the heroes), and once with the butcher army. the butcher army thinks they’re saving l’manberg by going after techno, but are they really? techno certainly doesn’t think so.
Tumblr media
innocence
Tumblr media
desolate
more compositional parallels! :D
(my original point was phil watching his sons lose their lives and/or what they sought to protect, but then i realized the first pic was wilbur not phil. lol oops.)
both wilbur and phil are standing on the right third of the scene, their figures shadowed, watching something get destroyed; in wilbur’s case, he stands by as l’manberg explodes, while phil watches techno’s execution. the interesting thing, though, is that their intentions/reactions are entirely different. wilbur watches as l’manberg blows up from the tnt he planted, a result of the button he pressed. but phil is stuck on the sidelines, unable to do anything as the butcher army prepares to drop an anvil on techno’s head.
Tumblr media
innocence
Tumblr media
desolate
the obvious parallel is that they’re both techno’s bunkers, but look at the hand in the second pic.
Tumblr media
innocence
remind you of anything?
the hand is guiding, welcoming. pogtopia was a shelter for tommy and wilbur (and techno, and the rest of pogtopia); it was a place for them to rest, and train, and gather their strength so they could build up a resistance force. same with techno’s retirement bunker: it’s a safe haven for tommy and techno, a place for them to recuperate and fuel them for the coming battles, and a place for them to fall back to if needed.
-------------------------------------------------
uhhhhh so yeah! that’s my take on the parallels between Innocence and Desolate. there’s probably more that i haven’t thought of yet/couldn’t put into words, but i figured these were the main ones i wanted to talk about. hope my rambles made sense lol. again, kudos to the artist, Late-August, for making these masterpieces. go watch them if you haven’t already :)

I know you write about parental stuff for a lot of characters in the Dream SMP, but I was wondering if you could write something for Quackity?
I’ve seen some writers write about Philza finding a winged child with their wings clipped, and since everyone seems to headcanon Quackity as a duck hybrid with wings that were clipped by Shlatt during his presidency, I thought it would be interesting to see how Big Q would react to finding someone did something similar to a child.
Plus I just like the thought of him as Papa Duck, and calling his kid “Duckling”. It’s just really adorable, okay? I’m in a fluffy mood, and there’s ducks/ ducklings in my yard all the time, so needless to say I’ve grown to really like ducks over the years.
Ducklings are so cute!
However, this went a bit more angsty than planned...I still hope you enjoy it! There is fluffy parts in there!
Duckling
Pairings: Parental! Quackity x F! Child! Reader
Warnings: Blood, Harm done to a child, Implied Past Abuse, Wounds, Angstish
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
        It was any other day in New L’Manberg.
        Quackity woke up, tended to his wounds to make sure they healed properly, changed into a clean outfit, then walked out of his home with his usual smile. He was able to have usual banter with his friends, laughing a true laugh making him feel relief each time as he didn’t have to hold anything back. Going to have his daily meeting with Tubbo and the rest of the cabinet was when his day changed drastically.
        He was walking to the building when he saw a small sagging figure. Straightening up, he carefully went over.
        “Hello?”
        The figure looked up and he froze seeing the pain-filled face of a little girl. She stared for a moment before starting to fall.
        “Help…be free…”
        Her eyes closed as she fell to the ground and Quackity quickly rushed forward and caught her. As he did, he winced at the wet feeling as he held her back.
        “Oh please.” He muttered before carefully moving her in his arms.
        His blood boiled as he went pale.
        The back of their shirt was soaked completely in blood and he could easily tell that she was still bleeding.
        “Shit.” He scooped her up completely.
        He ran as fast as he could to the meeting building, bursting through, scaring everyone inside.
        “Quackity, you’re la—” Fundy started.
        “What the hell is that?!” Ranboo jumped up seeing the blood-soaked shirt that was starting to coat Quackity’s hands.
        “She’s losing blood fast,” Quackity said, putting the girl on the table. “I need help.”
        Fundy rushed to grab potions as Tubbo took off his jacket, Ranboo shuffling next to Quackity as he took the little girl’s shirt off.
        “Is that—” Ranboo gripped onto the front of his shirt as the other two eyes went wide looking at Quackity.
        “She’s losing blood!” Quackity snapped at all of them and everyone worked past their shock to help him.
        On the little girl’s back were two large wounds, very similar to the ones on Quackity’s back. He couldn’t think about it though, she was losing blood and he couldn’t let his anger control him at this moment.
        Everyone worked quick and by the end, the potion had slowed down the bleeding enough for Ranboo to close up the wounds and cease the bleeding. Finally, they could all breathe as they stared at the little girl, who they had wrapped in Fundy’s jacket.
        “Someone did that to her.” Tubbo finally said, the weight crushing the room.
        “…Doesn’t matter anymore,” Quackity spoke up. “She lives in L’Manberg now and won’t see whoever did it again. She’s free.”
        “She’s a kid Quackity, someone’s going to have to take care of her.” Fundy reminded him. “And what if she has parents—?”
        Fundy couldn’t get out another word before Quackity shouted. “If she does, where the hell were they when the monster did this?! If she does have parents, they just lost their rights as parents.”
        He felt the wounds on his back ached as he remembered the day, he lost his wings, his jaw clenching before he took a deep breath.
        “I’ll take her. I know how to take care of her wounds and I’ll be able to help her.” Quackity finally told them.
        “Are you sure?” Tubbo asked carefully.
        “Positive.” He nodded with confidence.
        He didn’t know what he was doing really when he came home and laid the little girl down on his bed for now. It was all a mystery really but he did believe that no one besides him could take care of her right. They had something horrible that connected them but he was hoping to help her through the pain better than he had dealt with it.
        From there, he worked on making his home a bit tidier, really trying to keep his mind busy from the anger he felt to whoever did this to her. If he ever found out who did this, there’d be no mercy. As he was putting away a few potions’ bottles, he heard a small squeak and he went back to his room. The little girl was sitting up, face screwed up in pain.
        “Hey, kid,” Quackity said quietly and she looked at him startled. “It’s ok, I’m the guy you ran into remember?”
        She thought for a moment before nodding as he nodded as well grabbing a regeneration and health potion.
        “A few friends and I healed and stitched you, you’ll need to take it easy for a long while so you don’t irritate your wounds or open them again. You mind if I put a bit of these on them to help them heal?”
        “What are they?” She muttered.
        “This is a regeneration potion; it will help your wounds close a bit easier so it won’t take months for them to close. This is a healing potion; it will help with the pain and keep you from getting sick because of your wounds.”
        She stared at the shining liquids before slowly nodding again. “Ok.”
        He came up behind her and lifting the jacket, reminding himself to return it to Fundy, before carefully first pouring the regeneration on the wounds. She winced and whimpered in pain.
        “Yeah, I know kid. It’s going to hurt for a while.” He mumbled as he finished on the other one as quickly as he could but making sure it got done before using the health potion. “This should help a bit.”
        “How do you know?” She asked curiously as she winced again.
        He paused before putting the jacket down. “It’s a long story. Now you’re probably starving. Let’s get some food.”
        It was a lot to process in a short amount of time, but, process Quackity did.
        To start, Quackity made a spare room he had into her room. He set her up a bed to start and said, whatever else she wanted in there, he’d figure out. After establishing a space for her, he got to know her a bit better past the wounds on her back. Her name was (Y/N) and she was nine years old and she ran away from home. She liked books but she also liked to run around outside.
        Knowing that Quackity asked to borrow more simple books from Ghostbur and would let her run around close by as he’d do his daily days. He tried to make her happy and she often was, the small shell she had breaking when around him. Slowly, but surely, she loved to follow him around and enjoyed talking with him, to which people would joke calling her his little duckling.
        He supposed that was where the nickname came from as he had started to call her that after a few short weeks of her living with him.
        It was a bit awkward for him to transition into taking care of two people instead of one for a while but he eventually got the hang of that too. With that, he also transitioned his days differently. In the early morning, he’d take care of his wounds before helping her with hers a couple of hours later.
        The two had a bit of an unspoken rule. He never asked what happened to her wings if she didn’t ask how he knew how to take care of her wounds.
        It changed though when he was doing the daily potion ritual. She had accidentally slept on her back and irritated her wounds a bit so it took a bit longer than usual. With him spending so much carefully taking care of the wounds, she wanted to talk about them.
        “My dad took my wings away.” She muttered and Quackity froze in his work. “They were a lot like mommy’s…he took them away so I stopped looking like mommy…”
        He was trying to keep his breathing under control as his thoughts went wild. He was hoping that maybe, as horrible as it was, that she was alone and some cruel person out in the world had done it. Yet, it was her father and it infuriated him so much, that he wanted to hunt this bastard down. However, …
        (Y/N) sniffled and he pulled her shirt down before sitting next to her, putting his arm around her.
        “Hey, little duckling, you don’t have to worry about him anymore. He’s not your dad if he did something like this to you. I’m sorry he took them away from you, I know wings are very special.”
        “They were fluffy.” She murmured as tears started to streak down her face.
        “I bet they were. If I could get them back for you, I would. Instead, though, we’ll live like this and smile on the ground because even without any wings, we’re still pretty special.” He told her, rubbing her arm.
        He promised he’d destroy the man that use to be in her life, but today…
        She hugged him and he squeezed her back.
        Today was all about her.
        Weeks passed and Quackity was smiling as (Y/N) ran ahead, bouncing as she looked back at him.
        “Come on papa duck! I want to see the new books!”
        “I’m coming, you’re just too fast duckling.” He put a hand on his chest dramatically.
        She giggled as she turned around, going to where Ghostbur was waiting outside the entrance to the sewer. The ghost eagerly showed the little girl the new books he had “found” and Quackity merely stood to the side, pleased with the excitement (Y/N) had coursing through her. Ghostbur lent her one of the books and Quackity nodded to him.
        “Thanks, Ghostbur.” Quackity waved as he walked off with the little girl.
        He never thought he’d be doing something like this in his life, but he didn’t mind. It was a nice change of pace.
        Ghostbur smiled as he watched them walk off. They were always so adorable together, even with the black transparent wings on both of them. As they walked away, one of the wings was wrapped around (Y/N) as her tiny fluffy ones flapped in excitement. Very lovely.
It’s really once again hitting me that c!Fundy has basically no one. He’s surrounded by people, yes, but he’s still incredibly alone. He has absolutely no one, really.
The Butcher Army split up and left him with very few friends. Niki, the person he thought he could run away with, his campaign partner, the person whose pet he fought an entire war for, abandoned society and slipped into a mental health spiral, saying that she no longer trusted him. Schlatt, somebody he looked up to despite eventually not liking, died of a heart attack in front of him. Ranboo, one of his dearest friends, caught Fundy while Fundy was in a mental health spiral and distanced himself for his own safety, not ever really speaking to Fundy again. Wilbur, his father, the man who promised to protect him and at least showed him some form of love, left everyone behind and died. Phil, the last living family member that Fundy has left, disowned him and rarely even wants to associate with him. c!Fundy is painfully, and sadly, completely alone. He has acquaintances, but nobody left to really look out for him, or care for him, or give him the sense of love from an authority figure that he craves. Everyone else has best friends, or even family members. c!Fundy has nobody.
And yes, some of this can somewhat be attributed to Fundy’s own actions, whether intentionally harmful or not. He verbally disowned Wilbur, who was already close to breaking, and this played a large part in Wilbur’s spiral that eventually lead to him hating Fundy (although Fundy didn’t intend for it to). He pretended to do a lot of pretty bad and hurtful things as a spy, and although he had good intentions, he was most likely too young, naive and new to spying to see how this could alienate those he cared about from him. And although he wasn’t doing the best mentally at the time, his speeches and words his about plans freaked out Ranboo a lot, and Ranboo distanced himself for his own safety (which Ranboo is totally justified in doing, just to make clear). But despite all of this, the fact that c!Fundy is so alone is such a tragedy. Yes, he made mistakes, but his relationships were usually destroyed by a large amount of miscommunication rather than anything he did himself, He’s still canonically pretty young, and very naive in nature. He usually wanted what he thought was best for everyone, even if he was often mistaken or incorrect. And he was still failed by a large amount of authority/guardian figures. I don’t want to excuse some of c!Fundy’s more hurtful actions, but regardless of what he did, he was still hurt by many, and he still was abandoned by many.
c!Fundy has barely anybody to rely on, or lean on, now. And we know that c!Fundy is a character who very much craves the support and affection of family or guardian figures. Right now, he thinks that he has nobody there for him.
Which brings me to this point: Since c!Fundy has nobody, he’s going to be actively looking or searching for somebody to lean on, somebody to care about him, somebody to give him external love and support as a friend. And we know that Fundy’s lore is most likely going to be linked to somebody else’s, somebody else who, in the past, has been a friend to Fundy, came to Fundy FIRST about their new Butcher Army plan, and has many shared experiences with Fundy...Quackity. Quackity and Fundy have A LOT of history. They were in Schlatt’s cabinet together, Fundy was the first person Quackity told about the Butcher Army, they were in Tubbo’s cabinet together, and they usually had pretty similar ideologies and goals.
We know that, in the future, c!Fundy is apparently going to be trusting somebody, joining somebody, that he shouldn’t be joining, despite how nice it would initially sound to join them. What if, one day, for whatever reason, Quackity offers Fundy a business deal? A deal that involves them working together, accomplishing a goal together. And, of course, after having nobody for so long, Fundy sees an opportunity to have somebody to trust and to rely on again, to have a companion again. Regardless of whatever nefarious motives said companion may or may not actually have...Fundy has to trust him, after all, he finally has somebody, right?
Just a thought.
Swog 2020 au (created by @enderrealms as far as I’m concerned)… things because I’m so soft for it:
(Inspired by this wonderful wonderful thing that I managed to misunderstand cuz that’s just the president uniform and I somehow mistook it for the l’Manburg ones) Wilbur actually gives Q his spare L’Manburg jacket for their campaign as if to say that they both stand for the true values of the country. In actuality, it’s because seeing Quackity in this thing that is not only his as in in his possession but also represents his creation, his ideals does… something to him. (He washes it beforehand and tells Quackity it’s an access one they had, so Q knows none of this tho)
When they’re actually presidents Will has the same jacket Tubbo wore
I always imagined that Quackity’s suit was kinda weird, tight and objectifying to fit his position in the cabinet so here it’s pretty similar but a more comfortable fit. He’s not in there for his ass, you know?
When Wil and Tommy find out that Quackity’s Mexican (a fact he hid from from them while the election was happening in canon) Wilbur easily explains that’s it’s more about the “non-American” than the European (as he had mentioned once)
When they first get elected Wilbur definitely hogs the spotlight and pushes Quackity to the side cuz he doesn’t think his co-president is actually that invested in the fate of the nation. (No one can compare to his passion and all that shit)
Quackity brings it up a few times but mostly just kinda lets it happen (as he did with Shlatt)
But one time when Wil almost falls asleep during a meeting (I heard somewhere that he canonically had trouble sleeping while he was president, so I’m going of off that) and Quckity takes over the talking he finds out his CP is incredibly capable
From there on he tries to make sure that he gets both perspectives before making a decisions and listens to what Q has to say
And starts sleeping better and taking care of himself in general because he doesn’t feel like he has to carry a whole country on his back and also because Q starts forcing him to leave him cabinet “Because it’s two in the morning, you asshole! You actually do need sleep to survive, like it or not!”
The L’Manburg walls expand and thanks to Quackity’s efforts full visas or even citizenships are given out on a personal basis (he gets Tubbo to make puppy eyes at Wil to let Karl in. They succeed after 3 days and it’s easier from there). Dream never gets one though because every time he tries, his papers come in with “suck it green boy” written across half the page
If you don't mind me asking, and feel free to ignore this if you've been asked it already, but what's your take on the argument that c!Wilbur is/was abusive? (towards c!Tommy is the take I've usually seen, but there's also been people saying he's abusive towards c!Tubbo or c!Fundy).
I've been seeing the take a lot on Twitter, usually in response to someone saying c!Dream is abusive as a sort of 'gotcha' moment. But I've never seen anyone explain why c!Wilbur isn't abusive so I'm curious to see what you have to say since you're the c!Wilbur expert in my mind.
I've talked about it once before, but I'll be "really brief" with this answer.
c!Dream methodically abused c!Tommy in exile, intentionally and repeatedly. Therefore, the act is instantly worse than any time c!Wilbur hurt him, because c!Wilbur has never set out to hurt or control another character in a similar fashion. But, let's put that aside for now.
Here's a bullet often used by those who push this point: Abuse can be unintentional. Someone might emotionally abuse someone in the misguided attempt to keep them safe. But, even then, I don't really think that what c!Wilbur did was... abuse?
He's hurt c!Tommy's feelings a few times (the President comment, the Pit, etc.). But the idea that those were abusive acts totally ignores the contexts (c!Tommy had just endangered the entire ravine, and the Pit was one big manic breakdown - and maybe the only solid example of serious hurt). One instance of hurt does not an abuser make.
Someone's feelings being hurt isn't indicative of being abused, and for the most part these scenes aren't played as abuse. You wouldn't call c!Tubbo calling c!Tommy selfish (and hurting his feelings) pre-exile emotionally abusive, and the circumstantial contexts were near identical (friend lashes out due to stress about the safety of a nation).
When it comes to roleplaying abuse, c!Tommy clearly plays the role of being a conflicted victim. His response solidifies c!Dream's actions as abusive. But, this kind of behaviour is absent from his behaviour with c!Wilbur. c!Tommy seems to see c!Wilbur as someone who was once great, and can be great again if given the chance. Which makes it hard for me to believe that they were roleplaying an abuser and his victim.
Every example used, I find, is poor at best, and taken out of context at worst.
c!Wilbur scaring c!Tommy with his deteriorating mental state (Oct 8th "Am I the Villain?" speech, Oct 17 Button Room incident) is not abuse. Mental health is scary. c!Wilbur claiming that c!Tommy will hate him for what he'll do (Nov. 16 pre-War conversation) is not abuse, it's a pre-emptive apology.
Some parts used as evidence are just not canon, and if they were, are more proof that "they're like brothers" is real. c!Wilbur and c!Tommy bickering over the diamond blocks and the accidental piston trap is not abuse, that's just normal-ass sibling behaviour.
And that's just c!Tommy. I am not sure where the c!Tubbo claim comes from - c!Schlatt abused him, why are you looking at c!Wilbur?! - and it's so nonsense I don't know how to tackle disproving it. An one off instance of c!Tubbo feeling hurt by c!Wilbur is not abuse.
As for c!Fundy. c!Wilbur was, if anything, overly protective of him. c!Wilbur was driven to depression by his position on the L'Manberg cabinet - fellas, is it abusive/neglectful to try and prevent the same thing happening to your son by not giving him a title?
After Pogtopia, c!Wilbur thought he'd been disowned. Fellas, is it abusive/neglectful to try and respect the wishes of a son who's disowned you by staying away from him?
how I'd turn the events of the DSMP into a more linear story- Season 1
basically these are the changes I would make if it was my job to turn the DSMP into a tv show or ya series or something. I'll probably do this again for season 2 and 3.
L'Manburg Revolution
SBI family is canon, therefore Tommy and Wilbur are brothers. Fundy is still Wilbur's son.
The story mainly follows Fundy and Tommy, either could be marketed as the protagonist.
Dream has his first canon death during from the minecart.
Niki and Jack are there the whole time.
Important L'Manburg characters and ages: Fundy 12, Tommy 14, Tubbo 15, Wilbur 30, Niki 25, Jack 18, Eret mid-20s
Important Greater Dream SMP characters: Dream, George, Sapnap, Punz
The Badlands as a faction is established. All badlands members are non-humans and magic users. They stay out of the conflict at this point.
Fundy and Tommy and a brotherly relationship. We find out about the discs by Tommy showing them to Fundy. There is a lot of emphasis to show how similar Fundy and Tommy are as people.
Tommy and Tubbo are still BFFFLs.
Dream's obsession with Tommy is heavily implied.
The story plays out as it did on the DSMP- Jack and Niki are absent from many scenes because they are off doing different work for the war.
Dream is the king of the Greater DSMP and GNF is his "queen" (promise i'm not a dnf shipper, it just works for the story)- that's why he says he's going to give George the crown even though it ultimately went to Eret after the final control room.
When Tommy duels Dream, Ned Stark style Tommy dies for real. It's his final canon death. He had told Tubbo the actual terms of the duel and he gives Dream the discs and Dream gives L'Mangburg their technical independence.
epilogue/post-credit scene with Ghostinnit. He is the opposite of Ghostbur and is always crying.
Election/Pogtopia War
The story stays mostly the same except Fundy takes Tommy's place.
Ranboo is introduced as Niki's running mate in Coconut 2020, Ranboo becomes a member of Schlatt's cabinet and begins forming a bond with Tubbo.
Techno grieves Tommy.
Tubbo seriously considers betraying Pogtopia and putting his loyalties with Schlatt but choses to stay with them after his execution.
Ranboo officially stayed on Manburg side during the war but never showed up to the battle.
Right as Wilbur is dying in Phil's arms Ghostinnit shows up. This is when Phil first learns about Tommy's death.
If you read this far and have thoughts or questions or think this was done terribly wrong let me know because I'd love to discuss!
part 2
Wilbur is not the main villain of this arc
Hear me out, because I dont think that Wilbur is manipulating Ranboo, or at least not in the way people say.
I am NOT a Wilbur apologist, but saying that his manipulation of Ranboo is driving this arc forward, or that he is manipulating Ranboo's decision is not exactly correct.
A big part of manipulation comes from need & intention, and in all honestly, Wilbur has neither of those. Ranboo is not only more powerful than Wilbur but also more liked. People tend to trust Ranboo, and he is the minor on the server with the most allies.
Wilbur is not stupid enough to try and use him, or at least not in the same way he uses Tommy.
Because Wilbur did the opposite of what Dream did. He took the people who had no one other than him, he molded the people who had nothing and became their leader very easily. He is not manipulating or controlling Ranboo, because Ranboo sees Wilbur as his equal.
For Ranboo, Wilbur is Philza's son, the guy who blew up a country, and now? He is his business partner. Ranboo doesn't see Wilbur as superior, he doesn't worship or trust Wilbur.
"Oh, but he lit the TNT" "oh, but he blindly trusts Wilbur" No, that's just Ranboo being Ranboo.
He is a person pleaser, but he would do the same he did for Wilbur for almost anyone else.
Do you know who is actually a villain on this arc? Because there is a character who is not only manipulating one of the minors, but is also following a repeating pattern of abuse?
Quackity.
Quackity is using Tubbo, he is luring him with empty promises of freedom, just to belittle him for a simple mistake like "being late". Quackity is positioning himself in a place similar to the one he occupied in the L'manburg cabinet, where he and Tubbo were supposed to be equals in power of desition, but it was Quackity the one who showed the most control.
Quackity treated Tubbo as useless, and he knows that Tubbo is important to Ranboo. The same Ranboo that exploded his restaurant and whom he wants revenge against.
Quackity did promise Tubbo a life like the one he lived in L'manburg after all, even if Tubbo doesn't remember how it was like.
can you imagine being c!tubbo rn?
from the very beginning, tubbo hasn’t truly processed anything in character. he’s been thrown from one tragedy to the next ever since the start of l’manburg with no break, no brief intermission to just heal. that’s resulted in tubbo sort of just being… numb to everything.
(i don’t remember the l’manburg vods bc i didn’t watch them all the way through so i can’t touch on those, but—) when tubbo got shot at the festival, he forgave techno almost immediately. tommy was the one who was angry about it (and rightfully so), but tubbo simply didn’t care enough to be. l’manburg was blown up by wilbur and he suddenly became president, so he threw himself into his presidential duties, started rebuilding immediately, just… moved on. he had to exile tommy and rather than realizing that in doing so he’d be losing a friend, he turned off his emotions, using pure logic for the good of his country. he became a part of the butcher army because that was what his cabinet wanted, not because he genuinely cared one way or the other. hell, he was threatened with death and faced it with nothing more than indifference.
the only time i remember him actually having an emotional reaction to something (aside from immediately after both of his own deaths, but i’m not counting those bc,,, both of those reactions quickly faded to something more indifferent anyway and also bc i feel like your own death can be an exception for a bit yk) was when he saw tommy’s pillar, when he thought tommy had genuinely died. he ended the stream abruptly and began mourning. he didn’t do that for Anything Else. tommy’s death was the one thing that literally made him Pass Out.
(he also had a similar reaction to losing his “your tommy” compass if i remember correctly, but i’m not 100% sure on that bc i wasn’t there. even still, if that is the truth it only furthers my point.)
anyway. he only had a strong emotional reaction to tommy’s final life being taken.
so why is it different this time?
(for the sake of this, i’m ignoring the fact that it’s probably just bc tubbo Wasn’t Prepared To Be Thrust Into Lore, but—)
he’d already mourned tommy’s death. he’d distanced himself ever so slightly from tommy after that, did you notice? they were never really the clingy duo again after tubbo thought tommy had died. he built a new town away from everything—he didn’t even live with tommy when he was asked to. the final disc war with dream was the last time they were really together, and that was only out of necessity, because dream asked tubbo to come along.
now, i’m not saying tubbo doesn’t care about tommy anymore. quite the opposite, actually. i’m saying tubbo cares too much.
maybe he was scared of how he reacted to tommy dying for the final time, maybe he just didn’t want to feel that pain again, it could be for any number of similar reasons (it might not even be deliberate, i might be reading into it too much, this could very well just be over analytical brainrot), but his actions as they are still stand.
so now he’s in ‘denial’ over tommy’s current death.
and the thing is, tubbo’s actively choosing denial. by definition, that’s not denial. so tubbo knows and understands that tommy’s dead, but he’s choosing not to mourn it. he’s choosing to play it off as a lie because he doesn’t want to come to terms with what he’d feel if it were the truth. i don’t think we’ve realized how truly, deeply tragic that is.
Techno takes I find baffling seem to be based largely on like, the predication that he sees ideals over people, but that’s not... true. That’s literally the opposite of true. That’s literally the source of the conflict with people on the server
What ppl seem to think? is that Techno’s interactions with people are informed by his anarchist ideals, when it’s the other way around. He reacts to government the way he does because he’s seen what it does to people? He’s seen it hurt him, he’s seen it hurt Phil, he’s seen it hurt Ranboo, he’s seen it hurt Tubbo, he’s seen it hurt Tommy, he’s seen it hurt Wilbur, he has evidence for it hurting Niki, and the list goes on
People keep acting like Techno’s ideology starts with “oh nooo my ideals are hurt,” which I think comes from him flipping on L’Manberg after the Manberg-Pogtopia war, but that’s because Techno clearly came in with an anarchist ethos (and pretty traumatized already; “the only universal language is violence” alone raises a lot of red flags that are all screaming “trauma”). How his anarchist ethos develops is clearly reactive and this is obvious from even immediately after this -- he sees blowing up L’Manberg didn’t stop them from starting a government, and retreats to try to take up pacifism and establish an anarchist commune in the north. He sees this fail w/ the Butcher Army and leans harder into reciprocity, and after blowing up New L’Manberg (in perceived self-defense primarily, I would argue) he decides to directly codify aforesaid ethos and develop it. And what does he emphasize when he does so? The lack of any leadership position. The fact that no member will be used or coerced. This is directly from what he’s seen government do -- corrupt its leaders with power and the search for more until they broke like Wilbur or did awful things like Tubbo, and use people like him as weapons, coerce them to take action against others against their will like they did w/ Ranboo and tried to do to Techno. Technoblade’s anarchism is clearly a reaction to his interactions with other people, not the other way around
I think another source for the “Technoblade values ideals over people” misread is the fact that he actually doesn’t value ideals and things that much, which he states, but because a lot of the fandom identifies and sympathizes with characters who do value those ideals, that disregard comes off as personal. Take L’Manberg, or the discs -- those are things that are, for better or for worse (I would argue in most cases for worse, but ofc there is nuance and that’s a different discussion anyway), incredibly sentimentally important ideals to characters like Tubbo and especially Tommy “attachments are actually the thematic core of my character” Innit, which a lot of people sympathize with. Those things aren’t people, but because of the value that characters place on them, they feel to those characters like an attack on them is an attack on an intrinsic part of their identity. This isn’t a paradigm that Techno operates on -- the closest he comes is when they form a government in front of him and he joins in the destruction of L’Manberg, but even then it’s a more consistent read that he did it in some misguided attempt to warn them. It all comes back to Technoblade caring about people, even people who’ve wronged him and whom he disagrees with -- I’d go so far as to call that a primary motivator. The problem arises when those people work on a paradigm where they care deeply about ideals that often harm them, and Techno doesn’t have the emotional finesse nor the understanding necessary to take that into account with his “warnings,” which often only end up causing more trauma in effect. That doesn’t mean he does things because he “doesn’t care” or has a “victim complex”; it just means that he doesn’t understand the sentimental and emotional importance that that kind of attachment to an inanimate ideal has. He sees people do terrible things in the name of some strange idea of a country -- how can a country be more emotionally important to them than the person being hurt? -- and when he reacts in the way he knows how -- which, because of the other trauma he clearly already has, is violence -- he doesn’t take into account the real emotional effect that losing that country has on someone, and because the emotional effect of an attachment like that is in fact really huge, especially if you, like some characters, define yourself by that attachment, those characters and people who sympathize with them can feel like it’s an attack on something that makes them human (and that leads directly into “oh Techno is inhuman!” stuff which is. Incredibly ableist because it’s literally calling someone inhuman because they interact with ideals differently and usually also ties into calling him “emotionless” for. How. The creator. Who has ADHD. Naturally emotes.)
If we want more nails in the coffin, just. Look at how he interacts with Tubbo? There’s a repeated sub-sentiment of the stuff I’ve talked about here that Technoblade only sees Tubbo as a government stand in and fails to see the person, but how Techno talks about/to him says the actual opposite most of the time. He’s gone on record saying that Tubbo is possibly a good guy but has been corrupted by his position during the RaccoonInnit arc, the one time he took a canon life from Tubbo was under coercion, and just today in the Snowchester stream as soon as Tubbo made it clear that, despite his big scary words and nukes, Snowchester was not intending to or probably capable of oppressing its citizens, Technoblade and the Syndicate decided that Tubbo wasn’t going to be a problem and never acted personally slighted, even though 2/4 (arguably 3/4 but no one’s ready for that conversation) of them arguably had reason to committing what Tubbo’s administration actively did to them. Technoblade doesn’t have a problem with Tubbo, the person; he has a problem with the position of a presidential cabinet, which he almost certainly sees (correctly) as something that was in fact harming Tubbo the person (Phil has even said as much explicitly, I’m pretty sure Techno has as well though perhaps in less direct terms, and Ranboo almost certainly has alluded to similar). Honestly all things considered Techno and co. are all being incredibly forgiving toward Tubbo (as they largely should be!!! Honestly I think their takes irt that are mostly correct considering Tubbo’s situation but I am also very very soft and will lie down and apologize about anything so)
Tl;dr: People saying that Technoblade values ideals over people actually have it entirely backwards, because - Techno’s ideals are actively reactive to his interactions with other people rather than the other way around - largely the issue is that Techno doesn’t recognize the value people place on ideals  - Techno has seen the damage that those ideals + holding them has done to people which is in fact his main motivator  - Techno’s interactions w/ Tubbo all point to Techno not having a problem with Tubbo the person but rather with the government position he occupied, which hurt Tubbo the person too  - have we been watching the same streams
