You may have seen this recent addition in the Billy tag but oh my goodness people have no brain cells anymore. Here’s just a part of the post
Tumblr media
I couldn’t fit all of the buffoonery in this post in one screenshot and it took me so much self control to just block the user and not leave a comment on their grammar or their logic.
Like, dang, ignoring that Jason literally shot at and beat Lucas up, reducing Billy to nothing more than an asshole racist, AND saying that Jason was a good boyfriend when Chrissy felt like she couldn’t even talk to him about her problems?
Yeah, I've seen it 😃🤌
It's all over, my friend 😑
I was hoping after that scene with Jason and Lucas, perhaps antis would give it a rest... but then I started seeing Jason apologists pop up.
Now, Jason is a fictional character, like Billy. If people want to... like him... they can. What really upsets me is their hypocrisy, and the unwillingness to acknowledge that the Duffers' shitty writing also applies to the characters they just love to hate.
If you want to like Jason, you can. But despite the tiktok edits, love didn't make him crazy. He wanted an excuse to go after Eddie, and I'm certain he would have gathered up a mob for he and Lucas even if Chrissy was alive.
I'm glad you brought up the fact that they're saying Jason is a "good boyfriend". Yeah, he's so great that he doesn't notice something is off about her. What he cares about is that Eddie (someone he hates) was who she chose to confide in.
I think Chrissy was afraid of Jason, and I say this because Jason has a vendetta against "freaks", and she doesn't want anyone to know about her visions because she doesn't want to be another "freak" in Hawkins.
No hate to Jason's actor, he did great. But Jason Carver is worse than Billy. I'm actually disturbed about how antis aren't using critical thinking.
They're so used to hating Billy, that it's a learned thing, and as you mentioned they clearly lack the brain capacity to unlearn that behavior.
Jason scares me more than Billy ever could- because we don't see Billy gathering up a fucking mob to kill people. We don't see Billy unleashing the basketball team on Erica and Lucas.
Jason's behavior is eerily similar to that of racist extremists and right wing movements, and for people to ignore the fact that what Jason was ordering Lucas to do is straight out of a fucking cop's mouth mind boggling.
I've seen enough dashcam videos of racist cops on the news that when he pulled out that gun and started talking I forgot this was a Sci fi show.
My point is, Jason felt real for a whole another reason than Billy did.
The Billy Hargroves of this world don't scare me. It's the Jason Carvers and the Neil Hargroves that do. And people that go on rants about hating a teenage abuse victim with no proper grammar.
Antis can't make this connection because the Duffers aren't able to either. They are as smart as their audience. They wouldn't have thought of making Robin gay without Maya. They wouldn't have thought of Billy being abused without Dacre. That brings me to my next point; THEY DON'T THINK.
Stranger Things is not as complex as they think it is. Notice how complex, real characters with any hint of a troubled life are shown (Billy, Eddie, Chrissy etc) they're killed off. Because the Duffers cannot write complex characters. And by extension they cannot write social issues.
Racism is not an aesthetic. If you bring up even a hint of it, you cannot gloss over its ugly effects. Once the Duffers attempted to bring social issues into a Sci fi story, they could have gone into depth about it. But like I said, this is a Sci fi story. And it was never supposed to feel real. If that was their intention? They failed.
I related to characters like Billy and Max more than I did El, and not because El has powers. Because Billy and Max (and their sibling dynamic) brought a new kind of darkness to the show that the creators didn't know how to handle- reality.
In a show about monsters and kids with special powers, Billy and Max were among the only characters who were more than stereotypes. They had real issues, and as I mentioned, the Duffers gloss over social issues.
The difference between them and say, Stephen King? For one, King can write and address social issues and still scare the pants off of readers. Because reality is scarier than any fictional monster. Plus he didn't try to humanize characters like Pennywise. He actually spent more time on developing his main characters, and he didn't gloss over their trauma.
In all seriousness, I blame the antis' lack of critical thinking on the Duffers. They backtrack everything. They wanted Steve to SA someone. They wanted Billy to say the n word. But if this had happened... I still wouldn't trust the Duffers to know how to handle either.
I love how fans are just now realizing how shitty the writing is- but it's not just because of Byler or Stancy. Apply the same logic you use on Eddie and use it on Billy. These characters are only amazing because of the actors, and they need to realize that.
Where was this defense of Dacre when he was being harassed online for playing Billy? The creators (and I use that term loosely) just sat back and let him take the blame for a character they only wrote to be Henry Bowers 2.0.
They wanted Dacre (as Billy) to say a slur, and he didn't. The writers wanted Billy to be racist so that he could be hated. They wanted him to spice up the story line, and further Max's character (which they failed).
This is a knock off of Stephen Kings method: that only irredeemable characters are racist or homophobic. He tells readers from the get go what characters to root for by doing that.
Plus reducing Billy to what the writers wanted him to be? They really should appreciate Dacre's push to make him more.
Also good for you, because self control is something I myself struggle with when I see this bullshit from antis. You're better than I am. I personally hate it when someone not only rants with no sense but bad grammar 😭

Hey! Do you rp? :)
I haven’t in a long time, but I’ve thought about trying it again. Last time I rp’d Itachi was still alive and Madara was just a stone statue in the anime lol

In my opinion, Bruce should be above average height or at least average. But since he surrounds himself with demi-gods, aliens, meta humans, etc, he's just dwarfed next to them. Like maybe about 6'1 or 6'2, but that's NOTHING compared to Diana '7'3 feet tall' Prince. Or Clark '6'9' Kent.
All the tabloids claim he has to be at least 5 feet tall because the only photos they can get of him are when he's next to his giant ass friends.
It is also my personal headcannon that all the robins stay shorter than him, except Jason, who should be at least 4 inches taller.

you don't know how much comfort your dragon king bkg drabble has given me ever since you posted it!! i keep reading it i love it sm 🥹
as it turns out, the man bakugou is — a bit harder to handle.
he sleeps like a heathen; you once thought the dragon bakugou to be a bit lazy, with how often he tended to curl up in the fields of grass, warm under the sun, but now — it would seem his little human form needs significantly less rest.
almost up all hours of the day, and when he does finally lay down, he's everywhere. a mess of limbs: one thrown carelessly out to the side and the other bent at an angle you can't believe doesn't hurt his joints. his head stays tucked into you somehow, either buried in your neck or pressed against your ribs — or you'll wake to find him nose-to-nose with you. he still snores like a dragon, however.
you're also beginning to wonder if there is a bottom to the pit of his stomach. he ate much before, whole fields of things, but you expected that appetite to dwindle, at least a little, now that his stomach has decreased considerably in size. and in number ? you're not even sure how many stomachs a dragon has; that's not something that was mentioned in the fairytales.
it burns through him quickly, gives him more energy than he needs, and it doesn't ever seem to affect his weight much. already, he's huge and thick with muscle and eating as much as he does never dulls the severity of his cut abdomen. not that you're looking all that much.
— not that you have a choice not to, as he seems to have little-to-no understanding of —
the door to the bathhouse kicks open, with enough force that you already know who it is without ever turning to look. you try not to shriek when you see him, because he seems to like that in some evil, impish way.
you've been alone to wash so far, thankfully, as the inn you'd managed to find was small and far enough out from the nearest kingdom that the occupancy was low — enough for you and your little brute.
the man bakugou comes to stand in front of the bath, blinking and huffing against the steam. finding clothes for him was — nearly impossible, and so the trousers you'd found hanging on someone's line outside fit above his ankles, a bit too tight around his waist. instead of a shirt, you've wrapped him in a scratchy linen, swaddled him up like a baby to cover the small smattering of scales that decorate his body, almost like freckles from the sun, though they gleam just as bright and red as they ever have. no matter his form.
a horn has started to sprout, on the right side of his forehead, and you've done your best to cover that, too.
you have no idea how long this man thing will last. if it's permanent or if he even has control over it. the last thing you need is for him to switch back, somehow, while you're in the middle of feeding him, absolutely demolishing whatever tavern you're in and calling all of king todoroki's guards to attention.
bakugou grunts, almost sleepy, and tosses a fat, weighty sack onto the edge of the bath. it jingles a certain jingle that makes your heart stop.
"oh, allfather—" you move for the edge, awkwardly keeping one arm against your chest despite the fact that he's seen it all by now. when you peek inside and confirm your fears, you lob it back to him furiously, as if it were a steaming potato. "where do you keep getting this stuff?"
things have started to turn up, miraculously. shiny things — like coins and rings and gems. things he could not have simply found rolling around in the dirt.
"go put it back!" you hiss at him, and the tone of your voice makes his frown deepen. you never realized how pouty he was, when he was still a dragon.
you think he understands you, and you're pretty certain he just chooses not to listen; instead of doing what you've told him in the slightest, he simply dumps the coin-purse to the floor, and then lets his linen and stolen trousers cover it as he unceremoniously undresses.
the biggest issue that you would say the man bakugou poses is — his complete lack of understanding of personal space.
"bakugou!" your voice wavers, shocked again by his nakedness. as if you haven't seen it all by now. "no, you — get out!"
but he does the exact opposite, which is hop into the steaming water, ignoring the arm you hold out to keep him away as he saddles up beside you. skin against scales, pressing a nose into your hair to huff out his annoyance, to make it something you can feel.
if anyone were to walk in right now, they would — probably think the lie you'd told the innkeeper was true. that you are a simple traveler and this is your mute, over-sized husband.
regardless, you think this behavior isn't polite. especially in a public bathhouse.
"bakugou," you try again, turning your face away as you speak to the wood-paneled wall. "i'm taking a bath, you have to wait your turn."
all you receive in response is another huff against your ear and a low rumble of disagreement from his chest.
he has yet to speak back, and has only used inhuman sounds as his points of conversation. the only word you've ever heard him utter is oi, which he does when he really thinks he needs your attention. you're starting to wonder if he's named you that in his head. oi.
curiously, you turn back to him and the movement has him pulling his face from your hair, just enough that he can look down at you, too. watch you, with the red-rippled sea in his eyes.
they're — amazing, you will admit. just as bright and detailed as they always have been. fit for a fairytale told by the fire, veiled by the soft-ash of his lashes. he watches you through them, half-lidded, and you wonder if it's something other than fatigue that has them so heavy.
"do you know what i'm saying?" you ask quietly, voice lacking the firm heat you want it to. instead it's heavy, too, weighted by something soft and unfamiliar and frightening. "can you even understand me?"
bakugou doesn't respond, not with a huff or a rumble or ever a purr, like the one he let out on the night he lay over you by the lake. you've only heard it sparingly since then, oftentimes in his sleep when his face is pressed into you.
you try not to frown at his silence, try not to let it disappoint you because it shouldn't; he's a dragon afterall, and you're not sure what it matters. the little horn protruding from his forehead catches your eye and you reach up to touch it gently, watching him blink away the water that drips from your wrist — and then he's turning into you again, too close.
beneath the water, you feel his hands skate up your bare thighs, wrap around your waist until your chest is pulled flush against his. you feel his huff, again, against the damp skin of your neck but it's slower, lighter. not laced with his frustration. some unknown thing you feel guilty for liking.
you drop your hand to his hair, rushing full force into all the damned things you've thought about doing but have been too afraid to. he's soft between your fingers, and you trace your nails lightly against his scalp until he groans quietly; a new noise, one you don't know how to translate.
your fingers stop when they brush upon little spines that have grown at the base of his skull, that have started to trail down the center of his back.
suddenly, tangled up in the bath with him, you wonder how much time you have left.
bakugou huffs again into your skin, a little fiercer this time, and it's because of his light jostling that you realize how rigid you've gone. you try to relax so that he will, too, though you must not do a convincing job, because a sharp nip comes to your earlobe.
"ow!" you squeal, but he doesn't let you go far, not even as you try to jerk away from him. in fact, the harder you try the more his teeth show: into your cheek and the point of your jaw and then dangerously low on your neck.
it's not until you finally freeze that he stops, huffing again, with a warmth that burns more than the steaming water.
and then, very quietly, he grumbles, "shitty wife," into your collarbone, just before biting you again.

the song “Losing My Religion” by R.E.M. reminds me of Billy and Steve so much, id love to hear your opinion on it !
Sorry for the wait, I had to look up the lyrics & listen to the song! Also thanks for the ask ❤️
(This is an interpretation, that turned into an AU so 😳)
[  ] "Life is bigger, bigger than you": implies that Billy has issues in his life that Steve may not fully understand. Steve may look beyond, while Billy may not have any hope for things to get better. Steve knows about the secrets of Hawkins, and he is able to look forward.
[  ] "And you are not me"- Billy doesn't want Steve to try and empathize with him, and he feels like Steve hasn't grasped the fact that they are two different people.
[  ] "The lengths that I will go to: Billy, in his own way is shielding Max from Neil, even if it means she hates him. This goes for Steve, too.
[  ] "The distance in your eyes"- Billy looks in Steve's eyes and sees a new world, full of safety, stability, and love. Steve looks in Billy's eyes, and sees a tortured soul drowning in his own hatred, and Steve wants to save him before he gets lost forever (because he never stopped believing in Billy)
[  ] Oh no I've said too much: if Billy confesses how he feels, Steve might make fun of him, or tell someone. Or he might be rejected. Steve doesn't want to say the wrong thing, or come off as too clingy. Billy is embarrassed about his house life, and doesn't want Steve to know. He has to keep Steve away from Neil, at any cost, even if it means breaking his own heart in the process.
[  ] I've said enough; implying Billy fought back against Neil when he was a child, he called for help twice (and his behavior is also a cry for help), and no one came. What more can he say that he hasn't already said?
[  ] That's me in the corner- Billy is trapped by his father, and doesn't see a way out. He's also trapped by perception, both by others and himself. Steve feels trapped by loneliness, and Billy is a whirlwind that shakes up Steve's world. Basically, Steve sees Billy as a welcoming change, while Billy sees Steve as a welcoming stability.
[  ] That's me in the spotlight: Steve is the star of the show to Billy- and like the previous lyric says, while Billy is stuck in the darkness and hes hated and lonely, Steve is accepted by society because he's generally a good person (this is Billy's opinion)
[  ] Losing my religion: Billy used to believe in God, when he was a kid. He prayed with his mother, who ultimately became his religion. Once she left, his faith was shaken, and after many calls to her, pleading for her to come back, to save him, he gave up on that. And by losing his religion, he also lost happiness and his world became a Neverending hell. He still has that necklace, so it implies that while he does not believe in saviors, he uses it to remind himself of the happy times... to punish himself. He uses those good memories as a weapon to wallow in self hatred. So while he's let go of his childhood, he believes he needs to be reminded that the lord giveth and he taketh away... and that he deserves every bad thing that's ever happened to him.
[  ] Trying to keep up with you
And I don't know if I can do it- Billy blew through Steve's life like a hurricane, and while Steve is slower in his approach to living life, Billy lives his life to the fullest. He's fast, indulgent, and he likes to shake things up (primarily because he hasn't stood on steady ground in years). Steve worries that one day Billy will be bored of him, and chase after someone or something more exciting. Billy sees Steve becoming a better person- how he evolves, and he knows what he wants for his future ... and Billy isn't sure if that future includes him. Billy thinks he's not good for Steve, that he needs someone inherently good like Nancy.
[  ] I thought I heard you laughing, I thought that I heard you sing: Billy's favorite thing is Steve's voice in general. But he sees Steve laugh more freely with other people that are actually in his league. Billy thinks he hears Steve singing to him at night, feels his breath on his neck, but when he wakes up Steve isn't there. This also could imply that Steve is too good to be true, and this is all a trick- a cruel twist of his own mind. Steve hears Billy's laugh and thinks he's happy, when on the inside, Billy is the furthest from it.
[  ] I think I thought I saw you try: Billy is fighting to become a better brother and a better person over all, and it frustrates him that no one seems to see that. Especially after the mind flayer... he thought the whole risking his life to save a bunch of kids he didn't know (or owe them anything, since they tried to kill him) would at least somewhat portray him in a better light. Plus with his life altering injuries, some days he just doesn't know why he bothers getting up in the morning. Steve sees it all. He admires every effort Billy makes, and makes sure to show him that he sees him. That he's proud of him, and that to El, Max, and the boys... to Steve... Billy is a hero. The thing is, Billy didn't have to sacrifice himself for Steve to see him that way. He always saw Billy as his hero- (from the moment Steve planted his feet, really, but after seeing first hand what Billy's life was like... Steve felt his admiration and love for Billy grow).
[  ] Every whisper, of every waking hour
I'm choosing my confessions
Trying to keep an eye on you
Like a hurt, lost and blinded fool, fool- Every moment they're together, they treat it like it's their last. For Billy, he never knows if Neil will go too far with his punishment one day. Or worse, Steve will come to his senses and leave him. For Steve, he watches Billy- watches him suffer at the abuse of his dad, and his own insecurities. He sees so much more than the mask Billy shows to others. He only wishes everyone else tried to look behind the mask. The world has not been kind to Billy Hargrove.
Steve loves Billy not in spite of the things he's done, but because of his willingness to challenge what he's been taught.
Even if Billy didn't change though... Steve would still love him just the same. When Billy falls in love with Steve, he falls hard. He falls blindly, because to him Steve can do no wrong. Billy gets lost in the dwellings of the parts of his mind that Steve cannot reach, and in the Saint like image he views Steve. This implies that Steve is better than him in everyway. He is an angel, and Billy is corrupting him.
[  ] Consider this
Consider this the hint of the century
Consider this the slip
That brought me to my knees, failed:  The slip implies that while Billy fell hard, Steve fell faster. He didn't think he could feel this way about anyone. He hadn't even felt this way about Nancy. Billy views love as vulnerability, and to him vulnerability equals weakness, which equals failure. He promised he would never fall into that trap, and he couldn't even do that.
[  ] What if all these fantasies come
Flailing around- Again implying that Billy sees Steve as some sort of higher power, and he is helpless to break whatever hold he has on him. Neil has a hold on Billy, but the hold Steve has on him scares him for a totally different reason- because Steve holds him gently as though Billy is delicate, while Neil has him in a headlock, and would not care if he choked. As if he's an animal. Steve cherishes him, a fantasy Billy hadn't had the pleasure of having much before. Something Neil has never done. Steve feels helpless because he wants to free Billy (and Max) before it's too late.
[  ] But that was just a dream
That was just a dream: Steve has the ability to make Billy feel like he's worth fighting for, and to Billy it's wishful thinking. He still falls for it, even if it never lingers.
[  ] But that was just a dream
Try, cry, fly, try
That was just a dream
Just a dream
Just a dream, dream:  *Steve's pov when he found out Billy was alive, because he had watched him die in Max's lap. He had to accept that Billy was real (basically this happened in Season 4, except when Steve was fighting the demobats, Billy saved him) /
*Billy has nightmares of the mind flayer, of Neil, of Max (not being able to protect her like he promised), of losing Steve. But Steve is harder to shake off. After the final battle with Vecna, Steve was one of the last ones standing. He wipes Billy's eyes after he's done crying, and holds him close to his chest. Steve has nightmares about Billy dying, and he's afraid that Billy is actually dead, that he's lost his mind, and Billy is just a figment of his imagination.

Renee and Charlie were talking about Strangerville when a woman came over and introduced herself as Sergeant Dar'leen Neilsen (by @bloomingkyras). They talked about the disappearances to her and Dar'leen gave some useful insight into both cases, particularly about her experience with Strangerville and its dangers.
Transcript & Bonus:
Tumblr media
Just don't let the police know.
...
Dar'leen: Excuse me, but I couldn't help but overhear your conversation about Strangerville. I'm Sergeant Dar'leen Neilsen, but you can call me Dar'leen. You two sound really worried…can I be of any help? Renee: Oh Sergeant! I'm Renee and this is my cousin Charlie. We've got a difficult situation right now.
[The two explain everything. First about the the disappearance of Vincent then about Veronica's letter] Dar'leen: You're right. You should find out if he's with relatives, if not I would report him as missing immediately. Report him to San Myshuno investigation department, Detective Reichmann's team is best at handling it.
Charlie: Yeah we should tell my Dad about this. We're all really worried at this point. Dar'leen: Ah I see! You are his family, you two do look alike! I was at a conference with him earlier. Charlie: My Dad is really busy now isn't he? [Dar'leen nods her head while reading the letter]
Dar'leen: From reading your letter [sighs] Strangerville. It's not a good place. You see I am from Oasis Springs, the only town closest to Strangerville, a few hundred miles [thinking back]. So I was part of this case and we travelled close to Strangerville. The town had a surrounding border, with lots of military personnel…
Dar'leen: They were strange people and all armed with weapons. By all means, they block anyone from entering, researchers, reporters, outsiders. Since no one is allowed in, there's not much information about Strangerville online, or from any outside sources. No photos, articles. It's all a secret really.
Dar'leen: Hmm and your friend here seems like she has business to take care of. I'd advise you to not get involved, Strangerville is too dangerous for everyone. No one really knows what's happening there. Renee: That's true. I'm just hoping it won't take too long and she'll come back…ask her about it then.
[They take their minds off things for a bit. Dar'leen talks about her daughter and Britechester University] Renee: Actually I'm heading back to campus very soon! I could show you guys around! Dar'leen: Unfortunately I won't be able to make it, that would help her out a lot. Thank you Renee!
?: [the other end of the line] Do you hear me? We cannot let the fucking police get involved in any of this! They'll find him and then-…arghhh! What's your plan now then eh? [adamantly] Just don't let the police know.
