Social Contract
The social contract is an idea in philosophy that at some real or hypothetical point in the past, humans left the state of nature to join together and form societies by mutually agreeing which rights they would enjoy and how they would be governed. The social contract aims to improve the human condition by establishing an authority based on consent which protects certain rights and punishes those who infringe on the rights of others. Although some philosophers deny such an event has ever occurred, the idea was attractive to some thinkers, particularly during the Enlightenment, as a way to justify citizen participation and promote the advantages of one type of government over another.

The Social Contract, with its famous opening sentence 'Man is born free, and he is everywhere in chains', stated instead that people could only experience true freedom if they lived in a civil society that ensured the rights and well-being of its citizens.

Thursday thoughts
Honor the social contract, people, it's not that hard. #SocialContract #WaitingRooms #humor #ThursdayThoughts #RFTM
Wow, that’s an extraordinarily boring title. Pretty much breaks all the blogging rules for titling posts, except maybe the alliteration one because who doesn’t love a little alliteration, am I right? Seriously, though, if you clicked on that title then God bless you, you’ve earned some extra sainthood points today. Anyway, in no particular order, I’ve got some thoughts. If you’re waiting in a…

📖 The Theory of Social Contract 📖
✒The Theory Explained. Foremost in historical importance is the Theory of Social Contract. It postulates a state of nature as the original condition of humanity and asocial contract, deliberately and voluntarily made, as the means of escape therefrom.
Some political thinkers who advocated the theory of Social Contract Were of the opinion that the state of nature was pre-social, whereas others regarded it as pre-political. But whatever it was, the state of nature was antecedent to a government institution, that is, before government establishment. The state of nature was not an organized society. Each man living therein led a life of his own, uncontrolled by any laws of human imposition.
Nor was there any human authority to regulate his relations with others. Men living in the state of nature were subject only to such regulations as nature was supposed to prescribe for them. This code of regulations was given the name of the law of nature or natural law. No two thinkers on the Social, Contract Theory are at one as to the conditions that prevailed in the state of nature.

The erosion of justice: losing John Rawls to right-wing post-modernity
The erosion of justice: losing John Rawls to right-wing post-modernity
The Oeuvre of John Rawls is an impressive exploration of our idea of justice. It is rightfully widely read in courses on political theory, law, economics, and philosophy. But here’s a message to all those who are reading him in college: Rawls is old news. The general framework of his thinking has perished. Theory, not revolution Let’s start with this question: Does Rawls want to save the world…

Tech-driven changes in job markets threaten social contract with workers: Experts Source | economictimes.indiatimes.com | PTI New Delhi/Geneva: Changes to job markets driven by new technologies, accelerated further by the COVID-19 pandemic, are opening up workers to threats as well as opportunities, experts and industry leaders said on Thursday at a summit organised by WEF. Panelists at the World Economic Forum's Jobs Reset Summit 2020, being held online from October 20-23, also said the 21st-century employment model looks a lot like the 19th century, as gaps are becoming visible in the social protection systems and the pandemic has created extraordinary vulnerabilities for workers. In the next five years, machines will displace an estimated 85 million jobs but create around 97 million new jobs across 15 industries and 26 economies, according to the WEF's Future of Jobs Report 2020. The global recession driven by the pandemic has accelerated this trend and created a highly uncertain outlook for global labour markets. The study also found that the pace of... https://human-engineers.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/HR-News-26.jpg https://human-engineers.com/tech-driven-changes-in-job-markets-threaten-social-contract-with-workers-experts/?feed_id=13861&_unique_id=61262f947c370 https://human-engineers.com/tech-driven-changes-in-job-markets-threaten-social-contract-with-workers-experts/?feed_id=13861&_unique_id=61262f947c370

Mon, February 15, 2021 “Imagine you’re at a party. A guy offers you a drink. You say no. He says ‘Come on, one drink!’ You say ‘no thanks.’ Later, he brings you a soda. ‘I know you said you didn’t want a drink, but I was getting one for myself and you looked thirsty.’ For you to refuse at this point makes you the asshole. He’s just being nice, right? Predators use the social contract and our own good hearts and fear of being rude against us. If you drink the drink, you’re teaching him that it just takes a little persistence on his part to overcome your ‘no.’ If you say ‘Really, I appreciate it, but no thanks’ and put the drink down and walk away from it, you’re the one who looks rude in that moment. But the fact is, you didn’t ask for the drink and you don’t want the drink and you don’t have to drink it just to make some guy feel validated.” — JenniferP, The Art of "No" ~~~~~~ ~~~~~~ ~~~~~~ #jenniferp #theartofno #socialcontract #fearofbeingrude #nomeansno #nomeansstop #nomeansdropthesubject #learnsomethingneweveryday #monriatitans @lazypacific https://www.instagram.com/p/CLUiM-hDMaN/?igshid=xejt0qo6zpo6
