Clone’s Best Friend

“Cute dog!” the girl says. “What breed is he?”

“Uh,” blinks Kon. "Are you asking what breed Superdog is?"

“Uh, duh?”

Well. She’ll have to forgive him his stunned expression, ‘cause he doesn’t usually run into other dog walkers on this path. This is, of course, because “path” is used in the loosest sense, the one that connotates direction and not tread ground, and the “walk” bit is entirely inapplicable, with all of them currently flying one thousand feet above sea level.

“Cujo’s a rescue,” she continues, swinging her feet in the sky, “so we don’t know for sure, but my sister thinks part husky, part shar pei. Half-and-half, like me!”

Cujo is also, apparently, half green and half glowing. He wiggles happily in a play-bow. It’s very cute, except for the way he’s the size of a small house.

Krypto’s tough, though. He barks and chases his new friend through cloud cover. Gamely, Cujo flees. They frolic in the chilly condensation, occasionally poking a head out before diving back in, like a fox in a snowdrift.

Neither of them see anything surprising about this. It’s all good fun. And, well. Krypto’s always been a good judge of character.

Kon turns back to the girl and gives her a megawatt smile.

“He’s Kryptonian. Like me. But he looks like a white lab!”

Tim Drake, to me personally, is a selective genius. More accurately, he’s just an insanely fast learner when something even mildly interests him (typically something mentioned by Batman and/or Robin). Unfortunately this leads to weird and inconsistent gaps in his knowledge.

Like, for example, and referencing a post about him being unable to work computers I’ve made in the past, Tim learned all about PC hardware because Batman mentioned upgrading the Batcomputers specs once, which was then plastered across forums with the title of like “BATMAN SEEMS TO HAVE THE BUDGET OF NASA, IS THIS WHERE OUR TAX PAYER DOLLARS ARE REALLY GOING?” and Tim wanted to harness the power of the sun to create something similar. This led him down a rabbit hole, and now he can create a super computer from someone’s spare junk drawer. However, when it comes to installing software and actually using the PC beyond its basic functions? Uninteresting. The only reason he learned later on in his Robin career was because Barbra found his lack of ability to hack deeply concerning and decided to remedy it. She provided the proper motivation.

Other weird ass conversations include:

- Was able to deduce the strain of fear toxin that Damian was under, synthesize an antidote, and track Crane down to his warehouse at the Docks district within a three hour time period. (Bruce offhandedly mentioned that they should start writing down the effects of different fear toxins so that they could eventually identify which was which to make antidote administration easier, knowing it’d be an insane and labor intensive task that no one would really do because they were doing just fine currently. Tim promptly created a spreadsheet, copped the cowl footage, and got to work. He learned advanced chemistry for this, promptly bringing his barely passing grade up to an A within two months.)

- Once was able to list the entirety of Haley’s Circus lineup over the years, correctly identifying which performers had been kidnapped by the Court of Owls, yet couldn’t name a single United States president before the year of 2012. (Got embarrassingly into circus performances because y’know, Dick is his hero and so he memorized the entire history of Haley’s Circus so he’d always know who/where/what Dick was talking about when he referenced his time there)

- Word for Word reciting an obscure peace treaty for an ALIEN NATION, but wasn’t able to tell Dick what the Fibonacci sequence was. (Starfire is Tamaranian and Tim assumed that she and Dick would get married one day and he didn’t want to be insensitive so he hacked into the Green Lantern files that all the Earth Lanterns update and got to work researching. Even the stuff that only tangentially mentioned the planet and people)

My cockatiel Bandit is molting right now and he looks so nasty 😂

If I didn't know what was happening, I'd be panicking thinking he's sick. Shoot, even though I KNOW what's happening I still am worried about him. 😂

On the plus side, I managed to get some of his shed feathers before he destroyed them so now I have a few intact wing and tail feathers from him for my collection. 👀

I always say the reason I have birds is so I can collect their feathers. It's a joke, of course. Mostly.

I was rereading some of the earlier invasive species posts and I noticed that Rescue Bots have only been mentioned twice: once by me with Medix, and the other when either you or an anon (I already forget oof) mentioned the Burns walking into the firehouse and noticing four vehicles they definitely didn’t have before. So I’m here with another idea for the RBs in invasive species.

That being Heatwave/Blades/Chase/Boulder polyamory with their children Hot Shot and Hoist. Hot Shot because he’s way too much like Heatwave for his own good and Hoist because he has no where else to go (Whirl has been claimed by Milfatron, I mentioned Medix earlier, and Wedge is confirmed to have ‘con parents)… and for whatever reason I connect him and Boulder in my brain.

Genetics(..?) wise, Hot Shot definitely takes more after Heatwave (who I imagine is the carrier, but ney—) and maybe a bit of Blades, while Hoist is definitely more Chase and Boulder.

So just… the Burns having to deal with these four bots who love each other very much and their two Sparklings who are (maybe twins and) very curious.

I hope the little ones were born at the fire house, cuz that's just too cute. My go to for the carrier in these situations is usually Blades cuz he'd just glow going through a carrying cycle, but if you wanna say Heatwave is the mama, I'm here for that too!

Regardless. Their bitties (twins?) are born at the Burns' family's place, whether they like it or not. Things are definitely tense in the beginning, especially with the sires being hissy and protective, but over time their families starts to get along and merge. The sparklings are fascinated by the squishy things that live with them! Always toddling after them and inviting themselves into the house to find a cuddle buddy or get into some mischief

This has so much potential tbh 🥰 feel free to throw more ideas my way if you have them!!

Incorrect breed guesses, Cat edition:

Everyone thinks Rebel is a Bengal or Bengal cross. They don't believe me when I say she is your typical cat. Shorthair variety, brown spotted tabby in color. Her spots look nothing like Bengal spots.

She doesn't even have a breed...just a type.

None of them deserved that and I can’t even bring to mind any specific thing that one would hold against Ki Adi in particular, yet so many people seem to.
