I was thinking about itafushi (Really? Tell us something new???) and I was thinking about reasons why Megumi never confessed. Of course, we have the obvious, he believes Yuji is straight with all that "Tall Girls with Big Ass talk". He also has that execution thing. It's really bad to date someone who is destined to die. But then my thoughts migrated to a third reason that I rarely see in the fanfics I read or in discussions: Megumi never confessed because he doesn't want Yuji to die for him again. Think, if Megumi confesses, evolves what they have, it will be one more reason for Yuji to want to protect him and, as a consequence, choose to die again to save Megs. Besides marking a big target on his back (which he already has, but we didn't know about before Shibuya) Of course, Yuji will still do this as a friend, which makes me think Megumi is trying to be distant because of this. He doesn't want Yuji, a good person, to give his life in exchange for Megumi's once again. And, I don't know, this hurts me even more than the previous reasons. Because Megumi can't stop herself from loving Yuji, but for the sake of Yuji's life he is willing to sacrifice his own happiness to ensure that. He doesn't want to have to see Yuji die for him again or turn into another ghost that will haunt Yuji, so that's why Megumi says "if you die, I'll kill you". That makes sense???
