So the first two mins of Hazbin Hotel have been released, and it's pretty mediocre to me. Lucifer is a misunderstood Angel who was banished because uh...he gave the Fruit of Knowledge to Eve, and the fruit was somehow cursed, causing evil to corrupt Earth. As a result, Lilith and Lucifer were banished to Hell. For some reason, Adam is a controlling male, which doesn't make any sense to me, but okay, and while Lucifer didn't like Hell, Lilith actually thrived in it. As a result, Heaven became afraid of how rapidly Hell was growing, and to prevent this, they started killing Sinners yearly.
youtube
So there are a couple of problems with this, the main one to me being the first two minutes of the first fucking episode already retconned a major piece of info from the pilot. That being the Exterminations started because Hell was overpopulated.
So now the writers changed it because Heaven is now afraid of Hell's power, and I'm wondering why they're afraid in the first place. They were capable of casting out Lucifer, who is the strongest being in Hell. Why are they afraid of Hell becoming more powerful as time goes on?
And this also raises the question of the Seven Princes of Hell. Where are they??
Tumblr media
They were Angels who fought alongside Lucifer, resulting in them all becoming Fallen Angels, but for some reason, they're just not mentioned at all in this backstory. I get that Helluva and Hazbin are different shows, but they're not even hinted at.
This entire video also kinda leads to the idea that Lilith is a true baddie of the show because while Lucifer was wallowing in his self pity, Lilith was actually thriving in Hell and for some reason became a popstar. It's extremely sus that she's actually thriving in Hell while Lucifer isn't.
And my final issue with these first two minutes is Lucifer himself. He's characterized as this outcast who is creative and stuff instead of a prideful Angel who never bowed down to humans.
They removed the Prideful aspect from the Sin of Pride.
So yeah this show is..already a mess and it's already two minutes into the first episode.

🗣️This is an illegitimate and deeply corrupt Supreme Court. Vote every Republican & conservative politician out of office in 2024
Tumblr media Tumblr media
WASHINGTON (AP) — One woman miscarried in the lobby restroom of a Texas emergency room as front desk staff refused to check her in. Another woman learned that her fetus had no heartbeat at a Florida hospital, the day after a security guard turned her away from the facility. And in North Carolina, a woman gave birth in a car after an emergency room couldn't offer an ultrasound. The baby later died.
Complaints that pregnant women were turned away from U.S. emergency rooms spiked in 2022 after the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, federal documents obtained by The Associated Press reveal.
The cases raise alarms about the state of emergency pregnancy care in the U.S., especially in states that enacted strict abortion laws and sparked confusion around the treatment doctors can provide.
“It is shocking, it’s absolutely shocking,” said Amelia Huntsberger, an OB/GYN in Oregon. “It is appalling that someone would show up to an emergency room and not receive care — this is inconceivable.”
It's happened despite federal mandates that the women be treated.
Federal law requires emergency rooms to treat or stabilize patients who are in active labor and provide a medical transfer to another hospital if they don’t have the staff or resources to treat them. Medical facilities must comply with the law if they accept Medicare funding.
The Supreme Court will hear arguments Wednesday that could weaken those protections. The Biden administration has sued Idaho over its abortion ban, even in medical emergencies, arguing it conflicts with the federal law.
“No woman should be denied the care she needs,” Jennifer Klein, director of the White House Gender Policy Council, said in a statement. “All patients, including women who are experiencing pregnancy-related emergencies, should have access to emergency medical care required under the Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act (EMTALA).”
PREGNANCY CARE AFTER ROE
Pregnant patients have “become radioactive to emergency departments” in states with extreme abortion restrictions, said Sara Rosenbaum, a George Washington University health law and policy professor
“They are so scared of a pregnant patient, that the emergency medicine staff won’t even look. They just want these people gone," Rosenbaum said.
Consider what happened to a woman who was nine months pregnant and having contractions when she arrived at the Falls Community Hospital in Marlin, Texas, in July 2022, a week after the Supreme Court’s ruling on abortion. The doctor on duty refused to see her.

The Unrighteous Knight Part 4
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
pairing: azriel x second archeron sister!reader
summary: when your past makes its way to your present, you have no choice but to face what you desperately tried to bury.
warning: canon typical violence, mentions of s*xual as*ult, themes of depression and su*cidal thought
word count: 1.5k
a/n: if you couldn't already tell, life hasn't been the greatest lately. writing has always been therapeutic, a comfort of sorts. so this fic has unintentionally progressed into something much darker than I intended for it to.
part one part two part three part four
Tumblr media
The task of understanding oneself is easier said than done.
It is, in theory, a time for serendipity and unwavering resolve. Questioning is encouraged for it is sure to call forth inner peace.
In practice, you have experienced only chaos. Self-destruction of the highest level; the complete and utter repentance of self-fulfillment and appreciation.
You are destined to be happy, in the same ways your sisters were destined to be great.
And yet, you are the epitome of misery, lacking in accomplishments and cauldron blessed feats.
Rejecting opportunities is something favored by the weak, so you aren't quite sure why you seem to be doing just that.
Standing in front of the marble lined mirror, its obsidian edges sharp and artisan crafted, you cannot help but resent everything bestowed upon you.
Immortality, oftentimes revered by mortals, is no more than monotony dragged out over eternity.
Why is it you fight, would it be so difficult to give up?
Perhaps Azriel was only acting on your own subconscious ambitions that fateful night. Had he struck the littlest bit closer, just enough to pierce the fragility of your lungs, you could be resting contently in whatever fire ridden land you are destined for.
You mistake your tears for rain, not realizing the moisture cascading down your face is a product of yourself until you focus in on the image presented within the mirror. Occurrences such as these are rare. You devour sorrow with ease, but the physical act of crying is a poison you are yet to find an antidote for.
It's unfamiliar.
Almost as much as the thought, or impending reality, of being face to face with Azriel.
For the first time since the incident, you will be training with him again. Though Nesta did not outright mention he would be present, it would be foolish to assume her failed ministrations were not a warning.
So now, as you stand before your own reflection, crying, and cursing the universe for your creation, you wonder.
What could I be, if I were to leave this all behind?
Who may I have become, had I never been corrupted?
You imagine, for the first time in years, a better future for yourself.
And god damn, if it isn't a wonderous thing.
You lower your hands, resting them on your womb, and let your mind go places it had nearly forgotten. The montage is blurry, like a notebook immersed in history. But it is still there.
You’re still there.
Visions of clandestine ballrooms, all too tall bed chambers, and joyous smiles haunt your mind.
It’s supposed to be beautiful, it was beautiful.
But you know what comes next.
Chandeliers fall and their crystals scatter, a shack is built and the desperation for money has your body ravaged.
You clutch your stomach, never as flat as your sister’s, and let your body give into the tragedy you are reliving.
The sound that you release is not one you are familiar with.
It's primitive, wretched, horridly grievous.
Richoteing off of your bedroom walls, you claw at the pristine floor until your fingers are stained red, maimed into something else entirely.
As your voice rises in octaves, the crystals within your room begin to tremble. You sense their clattering, feel the vibrations of their destruction as they crack into pieces too small to be made anew.
You pay no mind to any of it. Not even when the grandiose chandelier bursts, leaving behind only linings of darkened copper.
You raise your head so it is no longer touching the floor and admire the destruction you have caused. Crystal fragments fall and swirl across the room. Their edges, sharp and jagged, wedge themselves into your exposed skin all while your back is reserved for the larger pieces of the bunch, supplied by none other than the chandelier that once hung proudly.
You think you may be bleeding, if the crimson droplets trickling across your body mean anything, that is. And yet, you fail to register the pain of your flesh being split apart.
A disease of the mind is what truly plagues you. Haunting you, playing out within your heart as if its curtains never even closed. And it’s ironic, because you lived it. Witnessed its rise and fall. Bathed yourself in its glory and scrubbed yourself of its grime. The curtains did close, for you were the one pulling them shut: The sole actress in the tragedy that became your life, remembered by no one, and loved by only the forgotten.
Trembling, you reach for your lower abdomen and caress it with your hands, tracing the scarred edges of the brand burnt into you. Moving up, down, and all across, your fingers, even through leather garments, are still able to make out the shape of the word lining your lower stomach.
R…U...I…N…E…D
You were barely an adult when the hot iron made contact with your malnourished flesh. All you remember is the searing pain and sound of coins being retrieved. Your “innocence”, as the leader liked to call it, had been sold not even an hour before you received the label. Double, perhaps triple your age, the man who placed the highest bid on you is the one you wish the most misery.
Had it not been for your own desperation, then perhaps you would still be intact. But you were impoverished, and your sisters grew desperate. No one, you are certain, knows the lengths you went to in order to bring home a salary. Even if it was only a portion of the bid, it was enough for a week’s worth of food, a testament to the nothingness you are valued at.
You have loved and you have lost, yet you have never truly grieved. How could you? A brothel is no place to rejoice, 18 is not old enough to process the crime you fell victim to.
Practically a child when you were sold off, a situation as disastrous as the one you lived though was not something you were capable of recognizing. Had you done so, you’d have crumbled. So you didn’t think of it, you buried it deep within the soil, under an oak sapling and left behind what could have been. In many ways, it did kill you. But you never quite broke. Fractured, perhaps, but you were still whole. Your edges were jagged and all light had gone out, but you still went on.
Life, whether you wanted it to or not, still went on.
You're sisters had one another, and you had pieces of yourself. How could you have revealed such a thing to them? Life was surely difficult enough.
You’d been raised to keep your struggles a secret, your mother conditioned it. To open up, to share such a tragedy with anyone, would be a betrayal to the one you’d been born loving, even if that feeling was never quite reciprocated.
~~~
For hours, you lay on the hard floor. Visions of wealth, poverty, and stolen mortality possess your mind.
Your tears have been never ending and your sobs have transformed into husky whispers of shame.
All’s cruel in love and grief, for the past will always bleed into the present. Devastation wraps her hands around your neck and you urge her to press harder, steal your breath and life with it.
Nothing, absolutely nothing, is worth what you’ve endured.
It’s quiet, you're shaky breathing being the only sound within the room.
You hear the footsteps approaching and the door handle rattling, but pay no mind to it.
The fading sunlight from up above bleeds through the thin curtain, panting the man within the doorframe an angelic shade of gold.
He looks like he could be your savior. Had he put his knife through your lungs, then perhaps he would have been.
But alas, shadows dash forward and amber eyes assess the shattered crystals spread across the floor.
You see his mouth moving, hear the syllables he is spewing, but fail to interpret any of it.
His steps grow closer and panic overtakes you.
He wouldn’t. Surely, he wouldn't…
Scarred hands meet your shoulder and a scream tears through your already worn out throat. You are saying things, yelling things, but you don’t know what exactly.
You claw at his arms, praying they remove themselves from your entity.
Slowly and unprecedented, he lets his hands fall to his kneeled form. In nothing louder than whispers, he calls to you. To send you further, or bring you back, you don’t quite know.
But his eyes, those damn eyes. The same ones you’d never quite been able to walk away from, have you running right back.
One thing i want to talk about is how Danny Phantom A Glitch in Time is pretty similar on themes and character arcs to Steven Universe Future.
In general in DP A Glitch in Time there is this whole idea of searching for a new purpose-¨emotional drive¨ as it get called in the story- in a era where Danny managed to save the day and ¨earn his happy ending¨.
Tumblr media
You get a lot of panels of Danny just feeling unhappy with his new status quo, not because he has tons of problems, in fact he has more than he could ever dream of. It's that he feels like he isn't needed as a hero anymore since there are other people that could fight for him. He isn't ¨useful¨, or well, in the way he used to be. He feels like people don't need him to be Amity's protector.
Tumblr media
This itself shares a lot in common with the arc that Steven goes through in Steven Universe Future. He feels like people don't need him anymore and still tries doing the same thing he raised himself to be: a ¨helper¨, someone who is defined by his role to help others. This causes Steven to feel lost in his own sense of identity and purpose in an Era that is supposed to be ¨his happy ending¨.
You can see this applied in DP A Glitch in Time with Vlad Masters too. From the start of the story he sends off these vibes that he has been aimless since post-Phantom Planet events. When he returned to his home he found that ¨he had nothing to return to¨ as in the sense nobody missed him nor cared he was dead or alive. He also became enemy number 1 considering how he tried holding the world hostage, making him lose most of the power and position he had.
Tumblr media
What it is interesting is how Vlad tried going back in time to ¨fix his mistakes¨ by asking Clockwork to give him that chance. From the beginning of the story he admits that he did something wrong, just not what. There is this idea that he isn't interested in being in role of the ¨villain¨ anymore. The worst he does in the story is probably looking forward to keep the origin of ghost powers for himself, aside from accidentally realizing Dan during his fight against Clockwork.
Much like Steven Universe Future, you have these characters struggling to see where they could fit in this new status quo. Their character arcs involve finding a new purpose and learning more about themselves in the process.
Lets talk about Dan Phantom's role in the story. He is the main antagonist from A Glitch in Time. He absorbs Clockwork, master of time, to become more powerful, thus causing terrible time glitches for the rest of the characters. A lot of Dan Phantom's arc in the graphic novel has to do with self-destruction. Him being obsessed with ¨winning¨ and continue fighting even when the fusion with Clockwork is very unstable, is hurting him and destroying the reality at the same time.
Tumblr media
Dan's obsession with ¨winning¨ reminds me quite a lot of Jasper from Steven Universe as well as Steven's arc in SU Future. There is a lot of repeating what the same thing over and over even when it isn't working anymore. The character themselves struggle to be something beyond the the role them or others pushed them into and they don't know what to be outside of that.
In fact, there are some panels Dan reminded me a lot of Jasper, such as when he is getting time glitched/corrupted.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Another main theme in Danny Phantom A Glitch in Time is about the characters getting second chances- the characters in case being Vlad Masters and Dan Phantom. Both characters do the terrible things they do due to their circumstances. They have certain pretty bad things that happened to them that lead them to become evil and hurt people. In addition to this, there tons of mentions of how ghosts aren't evil and they have reasons to do what they do. During the fight against Dan, Danny tries persuading him into stepping down and stopping the fight, pointing out that the timeline is getting destroyed. At one point he asks to Dan ¨why are you so angry?¨.
Tumblr media
I want to bring up that, yes, this theme is a continuation from the main theme of The Ultimate Enemy episode from the series. But, at the same time, when reading the graphic novel i couldn't help but think about how Steven Universe has these similar ideas of looking into what motivates an antagonist and them being given a second chance to do things right. What really made me think about this more is seeing Dan Phantom, the main antagonist from the novel getting a second chance. Because in any other show, a character like Dan would probably be destroyed but this is something that wouldn't happen in Steven Universe, since it isn't so much about if someone ¨deserves¨ it or not as it is if they choose to change.
I'm not saying that Danny Phantom A Glitch in Time ¨ripped off¨ things from Steven Universe. That would be an absurd conclusion to come to. What i'm discussing here is that it is possible that the graphic novel was influenced by Steven Universe, mainly Steven Universe Future to some extent, in terms of themes and character arcs.
Jin Guangyao and Wei Wuxian aren't the same.
Jin Guangyao is one of the best written characters I've come across. A villian that doesnt look like one, doesnt act like one, is likeable, has strong motivations and a defined personality and extremely fun to read fanfics about. But what I dislike is the role that fanon gives him; specially his role in the story with allusions to Wei Wuxian, casting Jin Guangyao as someone similar to Wei Ying. The "poor children turned to forced villains" trope. This meta is about WHY that's NOT true.
The humiliation of his mother didn't give him the right to burn down an entire brothel. (personally, I found it satisfying but). The desire of acceptance from his father was a motivation for his crimes, not a factor that validates those crimes. Often, Jin Guangyao is treated as the counter part of Wei Wuxian. They both share only three similarities, however:
1. Both came from low backgrounds and struggled a lot in their childhoods. Meng Yao had food, but witnessed constant humiliation. Wei Ying had nothing, and then got tangled into the fucked up dynamics of the Jiangs.
2. Both were found to be much different than what people believed them to be. Wei Wuxian was supposed to be evil, hateful, a murderer who kills just to satisfy his blood thirst and need for power, a monster. Jin Guangyao was supposed to be the guy who worked hard and rose to the top, humble, kind, honest and pure of heart.
3. Both had their reputations destroyed from targeted rumor mill.
That is all.
Other than that, Jin Guangyao is NOT at all similar to Wei Wuxian by any measure. He had to do bad things because he desired power, and to gain, power in a corrupt world, you need to be even more corrupted. He killed all those who looked down upon him (not bodily harm him). He clenched his teeth and killed everyone who protested against him or questioned him. He silenced everybody before they could silence him. He isn't SOLELY responsible but he only played the cards that would bring HIM benefit, not the cards that were righteous, or good, or kind.
Wei Wuxian never desired power, was willing to give up a limb for the safety of his sect. When has he ever raised his sword or his flute if not in self defense? When has he ever attacked first and when has he ever killed an innocent? The only innocent he's most directly responsible for is Jin Zixuan and that was too, in an ambush, where he was asked to back down.
Not just that, everyone is always talking about the Nightless City massacre but never about the Burial Mounds Seige 2.0 where all of the cultivators WOULD have DIED, if not for Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian.
If your reasoning behind justifying Jin Guangyao's actions and murders is the "intention" then you come across as hypocritical if you condemn Wei Wuxian for the Nightless City massacre, ignoring everything that led to it. His prowess in cultivation, his natural genius, and his terrifying powers that he built himself even after losing a core are not crimes that he should be punished for, but he was. Because he's supposed to be just the son of a servant. How dare he be so powerful? So many attempts on his life were made and he survived them all. So many attempts to summon his soul, and they didn't work.
Is surviving a crime? For the Jiang Cheng stans who always thrust the survivor narrative onto JC, this is a question for them. Was Wei Wuxian wrong to have survived incidents in which he was being attacked? Should he have died for doing absolutely nothing wrong, other than having a different voice? For standing against a structure that always prioritizes one being above all, being the ultimate voice that cannot be questioned?
Here I'm going to quote some parts from the ExR translation of Villanous Friends:
He Su, “What was the irresistible trend? What was stirring up trouble? Jin GuangShan wanted to establish the position of chief cultivator only to imitate the QishanWen Sect in being the only ones at the top. Do you think all the world is ignorant? You frame me like this only because I spoke the truth!”
When you really succeed, all of the world of cultivation would see the true face of the LanlingJin Sect. Do you think killing me alone would put you eternally at ease? How wrong you are! We, the TingshanHe Sect, teem with talent. From now on, we’ll unite and never surrender to you Wen-dogs of another skin!”
Sounds familiar?
After a few laughs, he continued, “Sect Leader Jin, let me ask you something else. Do you think that, because the QishanWen Sect is gone, the LanlingJin Sect has all right to replace it?”
Wei WuXian added, “Everything has to be given to you? Everyone has to listen to you? Looking at how the LanlingJin Sect does things, I almost thought that it was the QishanWen Sect’s empire all over again.”
Wei WuXian, “Did I say something wrong? Forcing living people to be bait and beating them up whenever they refused to obey—is this any different from what the QishanWen Sect does?”
These were voices that questioned the greater powers. This is what happened to these voices:
Jin Guangyao: That’s not the way to go about things, is it? The TingshanHe Sect rebelled and schemed to assassinate Sect Leader Jin with all its forces before it was caught red-handed. How could that be called without a reason?”
Flashback to Wen Chao, asking if the disciples in the Xuanwu Cave were rebelling when they protected Mianmian who was asked to be the live bait of a monster.
Also, flashback to Wei Wuxian standing up for the Wens and being called a rebel when he stood up for the Wens who were being used as live baits to strengthen the Jin.
The ones over there cried, “Brother! He’s lying! We didn’t, we didn’t!”
Flashback to Wen Ning "losing control" at Koi Tower probably due to Xue Yang's invention. But the point to be taken away is that Sect Leader He Su's younger disciples, who are harmless, are framed as murderers. A position similar to what Wei Wuxian was put into.
He Su, “Utterly nonsense! Open your eyes and fucking look! There are nine-year-old children here! Old men who can’t even walk! How could they rebel against anything?! Why would they assassinate your dad out of nowhere?!”
Funny how the evils of society comprised of old grandmas, uncles, a toddler, a doctor, a fierce corpse, and a cultivator with no status, no core, no money, no voice living in a cave with a pool of blood, digging the Burial soil to grow some potatoes.
And not those who were sitting on their thrones, reveling in riches and ordering people around.
Jin GuangYao, “Because you made a mistake and committed murder, Young Master He Su, while they refused to accept Koi Tower’s conviction of you, of course.”
"A mistake" reminds me of the incident at qionggi path. Even if Jin Zixuan hadn't died that day, they would've kept cornering Wei Wuxian until he'd have no other choice but to go on the offensive (which is what he did.)
Turns out even being sooo powerful that he could shake mountains, he eventually died.
Yet, at such a place, nobody would listen to his protests. Sitting before him were two villains who already treated him as though he were dead. What they enjoyed was precisely his dying struggle. Smiling, Jin GuangYao leaned back, waving his hand, “Hush him up, hush him up.”
"You shut them in live?"
Xue Yang turned around, curling his lips, “Wei WuXian never used live humans, but I wanna try.”
So, Xue Yang is an actual demonic cultivator who's protected by the Jins, murdered 2 entire clans and this is the third one and godness knows how many more. Absolutely very few people give actual fucks about what cultivation methods to employ. The one who really cared was perhaps, Lan Wangji.
Jin Guangyao as you can see isn't being "forced" to kill people because he's of lower birth and nobody accepts him :(
He's killing people to silence those who speak against his and his father's (and they both are one and the same entity. he's acting on his father's orders which he could've disobeyed and run away but he would lose his sect reputation and standing.)
Why does his reputation and standing mean more than the lives of all these 70 people ?
Were they trying to kill him? No.
Did they attack him first to the point he would lose his life? No.
Would they have thrown him into a whore house? No.
Let us please not compare Wei Wuxian and Jin Guangyao.
MXTX wants us to know what's said and told may not be right. Wei Wuxian isn't fond of the techniques that are used to confirm Jin Guangyao's demise. He's critical of how nobody else is concerned. He's unsure of what NHS's motivations are - does he now want complete power? or did his plan only extend up to his revenge? He's critical of how only yesterday people were all over this guy and today they hate him. Critical of how society works on what is favourable and not what is true.
But he's not SUPPORTIVE of Jin Guangyao. He's sympathetic to people turning onto you, but not empathetic towards Jin Guangyao. He believes Jin Guangyao to be a cruel man.
Those are two different things.
Nobody knows better than Wei Wuxian how it feels to be set up at every step:
1. Firstly he was used as a punching bag for Madam Yu and an emotional one for JC throughout his childhood
2. The Wens completely played him up, setting him as the cause of LP's fall.
3. Then, he was played by the Jins and the cultivation world until his death by validating JC's jealousy against him, by villianizing him and estranging him, by setting up the ambush, by sending JZX, by making false promises, by not checking for validity, by controlling Wen Ning, by setting up the seige parade, by getting JYL there, and finally the seige. (even after his death disrespecting his all)
4. He was brought back to the world on the revenge plans of NHS and tossed like a tennis ball from the plans of NHS and JGY. Yi City arc? children would've died -> NHS. Burial Mound seige 2.0? everyone would've died -> JGY. if LWJ wasn't with him at every step of the way, Wei Ying would've once again been in such a spot. Without any status or authority he would've gotten no help, no aid, and been villianized once more. He would've been stabbed and captured with nobody to save him. He would've made himself the bait without anybody to fight the monsters off.
Each of us have individual capacities and also, each of us have the one thing we cannot let happen:
1. Wei Ying can't let injustice prevail and sit by the side doing nothing
2. Jin Guangyao can't take in being stripped of power and being a lowlife again.
Those are two very different things. JGY made every decision he could to escape his grand fear, which was personal. I don't condemn his motivations personally cause I find them hot. Similar to how I find his character hot. Yet, he's not the hero on the opposite spectrum. He's not the lowlife who was killed because people can't handle people from lower birth statuses being on the top chairs for making decisions - but that is also true - but is not the reason behind his tragedy. Not the sole reason and also not the most important reason.
The most important reason is as it is said: he believes himself to be different and values his life over others, similar to Xue Yang. Their personalities vary greatly, yet his "true" friends were Xue Yang and Su She. (He showed glimpses of the truth and of his reality to LXC. So, he's hiding the truth and LXC doesn't wish to dig deeper anyways thus not a true friendship.) One wished to take revenge in extremely unfair shares, a clan for a finger. A clan for a son. The entire cultivation world could die but he couldn't be badmouthed or put on trial or killed. The other - Su She, wished to be recognized by those who he equally hated, despised and considered arrogant and also was jealous and envious of. So, these two traits - great desire for revenge onto everyone who's ever said anything mean about him, and the desire for power. You may argue how this developed from his childhood trauma but you can't argue that this justifies his cold blooded crimes because it doesn't. Another thing I'd like to add is that, his friendship with Lan Xichen also shows his personality; not wanting to take the messy, big path (such as showing up to your own death planning party, or planning a death party) and his relatively calm nature. Yet just like the friendship it is fragmented and fake; a composure that is stuck onto the cold, and hot brimming desire for power.
There was one character who had to kill a large number of people or would have no other option left and it wasn't Jin Guangyao. There was one character who was hated by society solely because of his background and his desire to protect people and it wasn't Jin Guangyao. There was one character who had to give up everything for what he believed in and it wasn't Jin Guangyao. There was one character who ended up being the indirect reason for the passing of loved siblings due to the unjust society.
and it wasn't Jin Guangyao.
(but there were two characters who had confirmed sex before marriage. one of them was Jin Guangyao)
DPxDC Dog Prompts
Here’s my collection of DPxDC prompts I’ve made, collected together!
Most of them lean towards Gotham/Batpham content, since that is where my own interests with the crossover are most prominent.
A lot of these prompts have had continuations and fics added in the notes! If you like one, I’d recommend checking to see if anyone’s done more with it.
I might reorganize these some other time, perhaps by length/type of prompt, etc, but for now it’s just roughly in order of when they were posted.
If any links are broken, tell me and I’ll see about finding the link!
there were a lot of comparisons being made between TOH and SU when the finale came out, so instead of doing any kind of thoughtful analysis of my own, i decided to make an AU that’s TOH except there’s gems in it.
Text from images transcribed below because I’m not confident in my handwriting:
Luz Noceda / “Labradorite”: Gem/human hybrid raised on a gem-occupied planet by her human parents, who kept her hidden from all gems for her safety. Was separated from her mom in an attack and wants to get home. Her gem’s not actually a Labradorite…
Amber: Renegade gem who goes around rescuing humans and off-colors; slightly corrupted
Yellow Diamond: Newly created diamond who came out wrong; saved from shattering by Amber
Moonstone: Youngest and most gifted member of White Diamond’s human hunting task force. Has enemies-to-lovers arc with Luz. Changes color over time.
the entire show of steven universe takes place in the inworld of a system? i haven’t seen that theory before, could you elaborate on that? /gen
Sorry that we're not really in the state to infodump about this the way we usually can and really want to. But SU excites the shit out of us, and here's at least the barebones explanation:
The show is about the effects of trauma and how to address it. It covers generational trauma, and it even appears to address trauma related to colonialism and conquest, but it doesn't really model that last take from the perspective of the colonized very well. And that’s not just because it was written mostly by white people, though that’s a problem.
The reason it's plot is the way it is is because it's about the instigating event, the Diamond's mistreatment of Rose, and the ways that everyone (not just Rose) dealt with that for millennia afterward.
Right?
OK, so.
Start with the Crystal Gems. They live in a temple that looks like a person. And within that temple, they have their own rooms that work almost exactly like headspaces.
THEN, they are introduced to the audience as the group of beings going around and finding corrupted gems and bubbling them up and storing them in their rooms.
That's active dissociation of trauma holders.
When Steven goes in to one of their rooms to release a corrupted gem that he regrets bubbling, that gem goes and inadvertently releases a bunch of others.
That's an illustration of the hazards of poking around in dissociated memories. It can cause a cascading trigger.
That, right there, convinced us that at least the Crystal Gems represented a system. Combine that with Garnet being a fusion who loves being a fusion, but who can separate and reform, and we're dead convinced there was a system on the writing team, and that the central characters and themes of the show were written specifically for the benefit of systems with trauma, whether that's DID, OSDD, or CPTSD.
A lot of the messages can still apply to singlets, but they work best for systems.
Once you accept that, it's honestly hard not to see the entirety of the show's universe and history as the system itself. Especially with Steven's name, Universe, symbolically pointing to that perspective.
Most especially with how the show wraps up.
With corrupted gems being especially traumatized system members, you kind of logically have to look at all gems as part of the same system. At which point, you start to notice that all the gems are traumatized at least a little in ways that profoundly affect their behavior, including the Diamonds.
This raises the question of what the humans represent.
They could be introjects of people the system has met, the town they live in. But you don’t have to read it that literally. If the show is metaphorically about living in a system, the exact explanation isn't necessary. It's not canon, it's metaphor. Intentional and real, but not a fact of the story.
They could represent otherwise normal members. System members who would have existed as they are without the trauma that shaped the gems.
They could be dream people, the system members we all encounter in our dreams and mistake for NPCs.
They could be the members who aspire to be human, to be able to function when fronting in the outworld, and who are not caught up in being protectors (the Crystal Gems), persecutors (the Diamonds), or trauma holders (the corrupted gems), and the like (the other gems).
But whatever they represent, when Steven became able to fuse with Connie, it was obvious that the humans were really, fundamentally the same kind of beings as the gems, playing by the same rules of physics at a basic level. They're system members, too.
And when the show delved into their lives and showed the effects of the gems' antics, past and present, on them, that made it undeniable to us.
They're part of the system, too, and integral to everyone's future recovery, and part of the need for it.
I just got through the Earthlings arc during my SU rewatch and im absolutely facinated by Jaspers character
She’s such an effective antagonist for so long because she clashes with every other character so fundamentally. She’s got this completely foreign to the show worldview that is shown to be contrary to what the rest of the show is trying to say but she still feels like a real person and when you think about her she’s just as much a product of her circumstances as anyone else. She doesn’t want to talk it out with Steven because why would she? She was literally born to fight as has been doing so since the second she was born, it’s all she’s ever known and has been drilled into her head that that’s what’s expected of her, she’s rewarded for fighting well and watches as others are punished for doing badly, either by losing or by facing consequences for failing.
And then there’s the whole “perfect solider” part of her character. She was literally born more capable and with a higher status than everyone else. But because of the way home world is structured to reward her and punish people like the off-colours, she’s been indoctrinated into thinking that the reason she came out on top had nothing to do with how she was made and everything to do with her behaviour and attitude. Peak “pull yourself up by your bootstraps” type person but because it’s a fictional story you can see what happened to make her this way. Her and amethyst are fundamentally different, they’re different quartzes, they were born in different places, they were just created differently, from the start jasper was always going to be better at some things than amethyst and amethyst would be better at others than jasper. But because of the way jasper has been “raised” for lack of a better word she doesn’t see that, she doesn’t understand that her and amethyst are simply different gems who were made different, she’s better at fighting and is picture image of what a quartz “should” be so that means it’s possible and anyone who can’t live up to that standard simply isn’t trying hard enough. And she even manages to get that into amethysts head, if jasper is capable of this then that means that amethyst must be too, even tho that’s simply not true. Through no fault of her own amethyst would have to try infinitely harder to achieve even close to where jasper is, jasper started out with a huge head start and trying to play catch up does nothing but hurt amethyst. It’s such a good analogy for so many things I think
Her main role in the story is serving as a character who simply refuses to talk it out with Steven, but again, why would she? From her perspective the entire reason her life is like this, she reason shes spent her life fighting endlessly, all the suffering shes lives through, its his fault. Rose Quartz started the war she was quite literally born to fight in. Rose Quartz also ended that same war by killing the only person jasper ever had to look up to, forced her out of the only reason she had for existing (both as in to fight the war and to serve Pink Diamond). And then heres Rose Quartz once again, saying she wants to help her? Where was she offering help when jasper when she was living to fight as much as she was fighting to live? Where was this „help“ when she shattered Pink Diamond and Jaspers entire world with her? „Help“? Help my ass shes the reason everything thats gone wrong in jaspers life went wrong in the first place
And then she gets poofed at her lowest point, gets removed from the story entirely until Future, and Future does nothing to make anything better for her! Last jasper knew the person shes been seeking revenge on her entire existence cant even be bothered to remember what she did, and then she loses herself to the Earth and corruption, the very things she prided herself on being better than.
And then suddenly shes brought back and „hey guess what! That war we created you to fight in? The one you created your entire person around? The one you lost Everything in? Yeah so it was pointless. Actually the person you idolised for the past 6000 years is the same person who you thought killed her and have been seeking vengeance on for the same amount of time. Crazy how that happens. Anyways so do you wanna come hang out with us now that we sorted that out and were chill about it?“
Can you even IMAGINE what that feels like? No wonder she runs off into the woods and becomes a hermit what else is she supposed to do! Shes got nowhere to go! Her entire life has been turned on its head and she’s expected to just move on! That’s ridiculous!
And thats just the backdrop for her appearance in Future. When she finally does appear they kill her and thats the first and only time we ever see her happy. Someone Finally speaks to her in a way she can understand and she actually dies, and uses that to find herself a purpose. If steven is powerful enough to shatter her, a feat never before seen by a gem, then sure she can serve him, anything to give her life purpose again. and then they just forget about her! Steven literally ditched her in his house! They pull the rug out from under her Once Again. but now she can be „normal“ now she can do what other people want her to do so they all assume shes „better“ now.
I think future did her so dirty the original show handles her character So Well and im not really sure how else they could have gone further with her character because people like Jasper in real life dont really change. And if she were to change and agree with steven it would feel like the show saying steven was right and jasper was wrong and she should have listened to him from the start. Shes such an interesting character to delve into because shes the antagonist yes but shes a very specific type or antagonist that doesnt appear very often and when it does its not with as much backstory, even if just implied, or delving into the thoughts behind the actions. Its so interesting to me
I wonder how would Canon Steven would react and feel about lil Quartz
Tumblr media
I'd think past Steven would at first be weirded out, but intrigued about this happy-go-lucky semi-corrupted version of himself, but then would quickly become the best of brother/friends.
Tumblr media
Now Future Steven, I think he'd be a bit uneasy; not only is he looking at a larger, partially corrupted version of himself, but to be faced with the fact this version of him was so happy and confident despite being raised by corrupt gems would probably leave a bad taste in his mouth. He'd likely try to keep things short, because not only is future Lil Quartz overly-friendly, but he was also hyper. And heavy.
Nightlight
(Emesis Blue Pyro)
Tumblr media
Warnings: Stalking, disturbing behavior, home invasion, corrupt corporation, kidnapping)
~~~~~~~~
Staying up way past midnight these past couple of days has been taking a toll on you, both mentally and physically. Work has been absurdly busy lately. Yesterday you had to fill out multiple orders for product shipments, then today you had to work on "the next big hit product". One guaranteed to get consumers scrambling for it at shopping malls everywhere. It was a mistake, the "Dream Product" that you had to get done by tomorrow started off as a simple self-made invention that brought you happiness. Apparently, the company that you work for gives its workers little to no privacy and "loved" what you designed and wanted to mass produce it. It was a small generator that made electrical energy from a non-mechanical power source. The first ever renewable energy source-based generator that had no negative qualities or setbacks.
The thought of your beloved little invention being mass-produced made your blood boil. Suing them at first chance was a great idea a few weeks ago when they announced your invention as an upcoming project to the board. When explaining everything that happened to your lawyer; the look in his eyes was filled with regret. He was a long-time friend and he knew you from when you were a toddler. The look he gave you was enough for you to know that he's been bought off. But, at least for now, you've been given a raise and a higher position at work. But, that still meant nothing to your superiors. The looks they give you when you walk down the halls give you the shivers. In all your years you've never felt a fear like this before. Ever since starting there, you've been hearing strange rumors. A cubicle mate of yours would always look at you with pity. His words ring in your head even now, at home alone...in the dark.
"The company needs you for now. And if you do a good job, hopefully, they'll keep you."
It sounded like it was supposed to be words of encouragement, but they sounded too sinister. Your coworker; a few days after saying that quit. His normally neat and tidy desk was cleaned out save for a small box of matches resting by his computer monitor. Normally he would have called you by now. But it's been nothing but radio silence for the past week and a half. Leaning back with a heavy sigh you rub tiredly at your face, a lazy attempt to drive the sleepiness away. It's only a few days and the paranoia was taking its hold on you.
Lately, you've been seeing the same box of matches almost everywhere you went. On an empty seat on the bus ride home, On the outside of the window seal by your favorite spot in the library. And yesterday night...right outside your door. This box was different from the rest. Its label could still be faintly seen, it looked like a heart. It was just laying there innocently on the doormat. The words "WELCOME' in big bold letters have long since faded due to a mix of being in the sun for so long and repeated trips to and from the house.
Paranoia kept you from leaving the safe confines of your small cozy house. It's normally a safe neighborhood, located not too far from the downtown area and not too far away to be secluded. The neighborhood was a safe one, many families made their homes in your location. Still the feeling of being watched or followed at times made your stomach twist in tight painful knots.
The more you thought about your 'missing' coworker the more your mind strayed to the small box of matches. The cover was worn and faded, and there are small traces of a once bright label that decorated the box. The faint outline of a heart, with smudged words, is all that's left of the label. Working in the dark wasn't a common thing that you did. But, working by candlelight just made you feel so cozy. Using one match after another, candle after candle, day after day finally came at a cost. This was your last candle and you already used up the last match.
Getting up from your chair to ease your aching joints felt like the best thing to do at this point. With a sigh and a yawn, you made your way to the door and flicked the light switch. Nothing happened. You could feel your eyebrows crease. With pursed lips, you flicked the switch again. And still nothing. The room remained dark.
"How in the hell did the power go out?" You whisper to yourself. Your voice echoed across the room, sounding louder than it really did.
Grimacing you reach for the candle on your work desk and head out into the dark hallway to check the other rooms. For some reason, you felt compelled to walk as quietly as possible. The air felt cold against your skin, Only wearing a t-shirt and pajama shorts really wasn't the best idea at the time but it was all that you had ready at the moment. The soft tapping of your bare feet hitting the hardwood floor was the only other sound besides your stifled breathing. Making your way to the hallway light switch you flick it on.
Off.
On.
Off.
On...
Your hair stood on end. The flickering flame of the candle betrayed your frightened features to the dark. Off to the corner, the sound of faint shuffling broke your panicked train of thought. Without thinking; you turned and ran full force into something hard. The fall against the floor felt like nothing compared to the heart-stopping horror that you feel now.
The candle that you once held extinguished in the fall leaving you and your uninvited guest engulfed in the darkness. only panicked whimpers and half words left your mouth. You couldn't move, you couldn't breathe, and all you could do was stare into the darkness in front of you. Turning over to get to your hand and knees you scrambled your best to get to your feet. Large gloved hands roughly pushed your head against the ground. Adrenaline rushed through your system, fight, flight, or freeze; you couldn't do anything, it was too late. From the corner of your eyes, you could see a small flame coming from between your assailant's hands. You didn't even hear them strike the match. Your heart was pounding so loud it felt like the whole neighborhood could hear it. The light that the match produced was just bright enough to see this person's face. You could feel your breath getting caught in your throat.
'Oh God!'
'Oh God! Jesus Christ!' You felt like you were choking.
'What the fuck?!'
A white mask peered from behind the flame. His head cocked to the side as if in a questioning manner. Tears gathered in your eyes, struggling to get up, struggling to even get a breath, your mouth formed words. You couldn't hear yourself, but you could tell that you were sobbing. Almost in a gentle manner, the masked man removed the hand that firmly held you down in place and brought it up to gently caress your cheek. Empty eye sockets bore down into your tear-filled eyes. It was too much, it hurt too much to think, it hurt too much to feel, and the adrenaline rush that you felt at first now left you tired. You could feel a sort of haze at the end of your vision. The world felt like it was spinning, and you knew no more.

ACAB should also mean "All Corporates are Bastards"
You know how good cops are essentially bullied or sued out of their profession for openly calling out crimes, corruption etc., leaving behind the bullies and tyrants? If I just look around the work force, listening to work stories friends and family tell me, the same shit happens to actual good managers or HR people.
One manager has problems getting a raise for a respected, hardworking employee because their higher ups simply refuse to. That employee possesses decades worth of internal key knowledge so if that employee leaves, they're fucked
Another boss was fired because they were "too lax", treated their employees too well and was regarded threat to company profits
Good managers do not last long in a company that leeches out the live of its employees just to make a profit.

So I'm playing Fable 2 again and I'm making my new Sparrow everyone's porblem.
(Under cut so I don't clog everyone's dash)
She's essentially the same as my Classic Sparrow (murder girl raised as a living weapon, generally a Hero but becoming corrupted by the choices she feels forced to make and the weight of her responsibility), BUT with two differences.
New Sparrow was a born Villain. I've decided to headcanon that in THIS version of the Fable Universe, Archon Blooded Siblings are always a Hero and a Villain; the level of Hero/Villain each of them are varies, but that's what I decided to go with.
Now, Rose in this AU would have been a Heroic Hero, but Sparrow was a born villain - she has a darkness inside of her (inspired by the Baldur's Gate 3 Dark Urge) that gives her a proclivity for darker things, which is why she engages with The Temple of Shadows, but she isn't willing to go as far as to annihilate Oakfield - at least not that early in her journey. She learns after going back to Bowerstone for the first time in a decade that she has a hefty desire for praise, thus she indulges in all the pageantry of heroism, while feeding her darkest desires as privately as she can.
She met her husband in Westcliff; initially she planned to just use Lez to open the Oakfield Demon Door and then Sacrifice him to the Shadows, but he grew on her during the journey from Westcliff to Oakfield (the male Thug voice model says "Woof Woof" if you praise the dog in front of him, and for that reason he lives lol) and she decided to keep him around. They have a daughter together, Libby, who inherited Sparrow's evil and her father's aggression. She visits them often, and was a doting mother while Libby was a baby. She loved that she could come home covered in blood and he would not only not run in fear, but be incredibly attracted to her. (One of his sex lines is "Big and strong, just how I like 'em!" which is great, because I had Accuracy and Physique almost maxed out before she even went to the spire. Lez knows what he's ABOUT.)
It's actually her family that inspires Sparrow to start buying up properties and businesses to build an empire; she wants her family to want for nothing. (1000 gold upkeep!)
In The Spire, she discovers that she can indulge her sadomasochistic tendencies and be rewarded for it. Were it not for her intense drive to destroy Lucien, she may have turned on Garth to remain there - she had genuinely bonded with The Commandant (having been raised by Theresa essentially as a vengeance fueled living weapon, this Sparrow was well suited to Spire life).
After the Spire, the first thing she does is reunite with her family; obviously Libby has grown. She remains a doting mother right up until Lucien murders her family.
After defeating Lucien, Sparrow chooses to wish her family back, mostly because she cannot live without her dog...but she never visits her husband and daughter again.
She hopes the world will forget that they exist. If her enemies believe she doesn't care about them, maybe this time they will be safe. (She maintains their upkeep in secret).
This Sparrow turns to Reaver for solace and companionship in much the same way my OG Sparrow does, with the added caveat of him being one of the few people aware that her original husband and daughter are still alive. This extends to Sparrow taking up Reaver's offer to help her become immortal, like him (which "sadly", due to Theresa's interference, does not stick).
For Libby's role in the extended Lore, she grows up jaded and angry - she learns that her mother isn't dead like her father claimed; in fact, she's the queen of fucking Albion. Libby eventually becomes a Bandit Queen in her own right, a fully Villainous Hero.
Now, canonically, since Fable 3 takes place 50 years after Fable 2, Sparrow has to be between 50 and 60 years old when Logan and the HoBW are born (which is part of why I headcanon that she extended her life like Reaver did), while she was 18 when Libby was born. As such, Libby is considerably older than Logan. If Logan was 25 during the events of Fable 3, Libby is 35 years older than him, and is 60 during that timeline.
I like the idea of Logan meeting Libby shortly after Sparrow's death, fighting her as the new King of Albion VS The Bandit Queen, and not realizing that she's his sister until she's forced to use her will abilities to fight him, and she volunteers the information by way of telling him that he "is the spitting image of Mother." Covertly, Libby assists Logan in his eradication of the Trolls.
In this, Logan is actually the one of the siblings born to be a Heroic Hero, meanwhile his sisters, Libby and Olivia (my HoBW) are Villainous Heroes like their mother. (Libby also clocks immediately that Olivia is Reaver's daughter - Libby does not meet Olivia, but bullies Logan relentlessly about their father being fucking Reaver)

SVSSS End of Novel Spoilers
I like how the SVSSS villain was the Old Palace Master.
He didn't show up as much but he played a very important role. Because Shen Qingqiu didn't play as the villain anymore, certain events still needed to happen that Luo Bingmei wasn't driven to do, so there needed to be additional characters and extra context to make those events happen.
(Of course those characters existed beforehand, just in PIDW they never went into the details of the Tianlang-Jun and Zhuzhi-Lang wasn't even originally a character if I'm remembering correctly).
Luo Bingmei didn't have the motivation to combine the demon and human realm because he was too busy worrying about Shen Qingqiu. So, the system added Tianlang-Jun (and Zhuzhi-Lang) to fill the role of bringing those two together. He had a motivation from the very beginning, and it all started from the very origin of Luo Binghe. How the Old Palace Master was the one that ruined a pretty innocent love story.
Of course it was under the orders of the Old Palace Master that Su Xiyan and Tianlang-Jun just so happen to meet, but it was the jealousy and creepiness of that man that ruined their relationship. Su Xiyan had real feelings for Tianlang-Jun, she didn't want to have him hurt or anything. Tianlang-Jun had feelings for Su Xiyan, it wasn't like he was manipulating her into anything, he just like human culture (he's weird and a demon lord but it isn't like he was actually plotting to take over the world).
With the assumptions of the Old Palace Master and his prejudiced views on demons, he forced Su Xiyan into a "choice". Tianlang-Jun didn't know that. He lost someone he loved, albeit I'm not sure how much he loved Su Xiyan as a person, he could've also loved her more because she's just human and he is very interested in human culture. But, regardless, he still loved her. They both actually loved each other. The Old Palace Master ruined it. Su Xiyan could've had Luo Binghe and raise him with Tianlang-Jun but she couldn't.
Besides all of the stuff that happened in the past, the actions of the Old Palace Master still had effect after he died. Once what he did was exposed to Luo Bingmei and he found out who his real parents were and what happened, it drove the process of merging the two realms to be more chaotic due to the corruption of Xin Mo.
Like, the Old Palace Master is the actual villain here is what I'm saying? It wasn't exactly Tianlang-Jun, it couldn't be Shen Qingqiu anymore either. I like how this story has sides that don't explicitly include a hero or a villain (especially since we are in the perspective of our protagonist playing as the villainous character turned love interest). But the true driving force of everything happening is the Old Palace Master's actions.
The creep's obsession with Su Xiyan really messed up big time, didn't it?
(I haven't gotten to the extra where Tianlang-Jun and Su Xiyan go on a date with the iconic third wheel Zhuzhi-Lang yet, but I'll share whatever pops into my head when I get there)
