Who's hyped for the 60th anniversary? I am. So, have another doctor-who-themed-tarot-card : the 10th Doctor (and the 14th, now, I guess!) as The Tower.

Can't say I'm super proud of that one, but eh. I tried. Now, why did I choose this card? Great question, imaginary person. Let me answer that below this lovely cut.

I love to use cards about change to illustrate the Doctor- and nothing spells more *change* than the Tower. When this card appears upright, you must expect the unexpected- a massive change that you will not be able to escape. For example, he will knock four times, and there is no changing that. You can stare sadly in the rain all you like, pull your best puppy dog eyes, the result will be the same. Change is here to tear things up, create chaos and destroy everything in its path- weither it would be in the form of an entire planet, a victorious Time Lord or a old, innocent ToyMaker, that is to be decided. This change will hit you when you'll feel safe and comfortable, a fire if clarity and insight, cuting through the lies you have been telling yourself- no, the laws of time are not yours, my dear, and no, you can't help everyone. This change is scary by essence, even if it proves itself necessary ; and Ten, more than the other, is the most reticent to it. Even if after the Tower experience, you are to learn from it, and hopefully grow stronger and wiser.

Reversed, the card suggests that you are undergoing a signifiant personal transformation. Yes, consultant, you are about to regenerate. Rejoice. Perhaps you'll be lucky enough to be ginger. You may be going through a existentiel crisis, because yes, you're probably the last of your species. At least, when your ex is not popping around, which is always such a surprise for you. YOU are the one creating the change, so you can step into a new and evolved version of yourself, even if this version is not blessed with the existence of eyebrows. You can also be trying to resist the change, Mister I-Don't-Wanna-Go, and delaying the necessary destruction. Yes, it's not fair. But it has to happen. Just know that if you continue to resist this change, it will force its way into your life even more.

So yeah. 10th Doctor, as The Tower. I have to admit- I like the french name better, for this one. It's called La Maison-Dieu, or The God-House. Fitting, for such a character, with his burning Tardis.

Only need to find one for 9th, 11th and 12th, now. Perhaps I'll also do the classics, I don't know.

It's a collection of (probably, I haven't checked) public domain images that at some point I'm going to print out and glue onto tarot card backs!

There's this concept of a magpie deck (sometimes called a trash tarot, the first one I saw with this concept was The Alleyman's Tarot) that's cards made up out of either things that weren't designed to be tarot cards or a bunch of different cards from different decks that I absolutely love. It's a really good way to learn how to read them too, you figure out what the meanings are and you find a bit of art (or the side of a box, or some junk mail, or an old postcard) that you cut down to size and paste on the front of a tarot card!

My current deck has something like 280 cards, but it's far too much fun to just stop collecting, so I'm looking into just. Getting more card storage. I want to have different decks for different purposes in with my giant general purpose one.

OMG! Love the idea of a COTL tarot deck! Which Bishops did you choose for which major arcana?!!? I NEED TO KNOW!!

oh damn! Didn't think people would actually be interested, but I'll tell you what I chose and why. Buckle up cause this will be a long answer with a lot of spoilers. I'll put it under a 'Read More' button so you guys don't have to deal with it if you don't want.

The Lamb/Lambert is represented by The Fool

The Fool corilates with fresh starts, new beginnings, innocence and freedom to just be. If pulled in a reverse form it represents recklessness, being taken advantage of and inconsideration.

When we first start playing, The Lamb is bound in shackles and sent to death, but upon their demise is given a chance to live again in exchange for the power to cheat death. During this time, the lamb is innocent of crime, they were sent to death souly for being born the animal they were. They were given a 'new beginning' in a sense when it came to helping The One Who Waits.

At the same time, their innocent nature is taken advantage of by The One Who Waits. He plays into revenge for the lamb in exchange for his freedom while not fully telling the lamb his full end goal. Throughout the course of the game, the lamb can run into many different NPCs and recruitable characters whom they give a second chance to and to most signal a new beginning. A time without The Old Faith. When they're told to give up the crown they have a choice to fight The One Who Waits because the lamb (and by extent, the player) comes to the realization that they are wanted and needed. If they gave up the powers they were given, what would happen to those they helped and gave hope to?

The One Who Waits/Narinder is represented by Death

It could be argued I chose this card because he is the god of death, but that's actually not the real reason I went with that card in the end.

The Death card represents change, beginnings and an end to a cycle/chapter in your life. Reversed it represents the fear of change, refusal to let go, and decay.

We get to know much about Narinder until we get further along in the game. We come to find out his relationships with the old bishops and learn why he became known as 'The One Who Waits Below' or 'The Chained One'. He had a lust for power to the point where he was trying to figure out forbidden rituals that even the Old Gods never used because they would more or less unbalance the nature of the world. His change into a god changed him from who he once was.

When The Lamb defeats him and spares him, he's bitter, holding a grudge towards the lamb and he will always try to dissent from what I've learned. He's hot headed and thinks The Lamb is too soft.

If The Lamb doesn't spare him and in fact kills him, his last words will be about how they are so much like him and that they only became a monster. A wolf in sheeps clothing.

He will comment as well that you were right to get rid of Ratau if you feed the rat to The Fox on your 4th and final nightly visit to them. He wants to be in power and hates weakness as he believes it means youre putting an end to a cycle which he refuses to let go of.

Leshy is represented by The Devil

The Devil represents addiction, playfulness and materialism. Reversed it means freedom, release and a restoration of control.

Little is known about the bishops of the old faith, but from what is known he is the youngest of the 5 original bishops and he is a god of chaos. With the bishops, this is more or less headcanons, so with Leshy, I see him as the chaotic sibling. He’s playful and has a teasing nature. He’s the adrenaline junkie always diving headfirst into situations that sometimes need some thought put into it. He’s also the one to try new things first.

After what happened with Narinder, he became less of a risk taker, closing himself off. He also became a lot more possessive of what he’d make and has a horde of belongings from his followers stashed away underground. The need for more became addicting and soon all he wanted was more.

Heket is represented by Strength

The Strength card represents inner strength, compassion and bravery. Reversed it means weakness, self doubt and insecurity.

Heket is the second youngest bishop and only female of them. She takes on a sisterly role of making sure they’re alright. She’s strong outwardly as well as mentally. Though when she talks she can be a bit harsh in her tone. She was the one to pull her siblings out of trouble when they found themselves in it.

After what happened with Narinder, her tone and attitude became hostile. She would rather snap at everyone and everything rather then listen, even bullying her brothers when she thought they were being too soft. Although she couldn’t talk very well she needed to be the loudest in the room because she thought people would find her weak if she allowed herself to rest. Forgetting her own needs in turn.

Kallamar is represented by Temperance

Temperance represents the middle path, patience and finding meaning in things around you. Reversed it means extremes, lack of balance and excessiveness.

Kallamar is known as cowardly, but has been shown to be a competent swordsman. Before everything, he was the sensitive soul who took time to listen when his siblings had something on their mind. He was willing to learn and listen to anyone and everyone around him.

After Narinder’s imprisonment, he lost his hearing, only being able to hear if people were near him or they were yelling. It caused him to become skittish and jumpy, lashing out at those around him and catastrophizing every little thing. It’s the reason he went all out and pulled out all the stops when The Lamb fought him.

Shamura is represented by Judgement

The Judgement card represents reflection, awakening and reckoning. Reversed it means doubt, lack of self awareness and self loathing.

Shamura is the oldest of the 5 bishops. They’re the one who raised them all and the most knowledgeable of them. Always thinking before they act, Shamura would always have something of value to add to a conversation.

After Narinder’s banishment, they became irrational, their emotions flip flopping almost on a dime and having brain fog more often then not. In game though, Shamura does mention how much they loved Narinder and how much that clouded their judgement and what made Narinder into who he became. They hate what had happened and what will happen because they blame themself for everything.

And that’s all the arcana I assigned to the bishops, Narinder and The Lamb! I’m hoping to get the sketches of each done soon :)

Thanks for the interest in the tarot project! I’m actually very surprised the CotL dev team didn’t do a tarot deck as official merch. Maybe if this gets popular enough, they’ll see the project. Who knows.

This card is brighter than the one I usually do- might even be the most colorful of the whole deck, so far! Which- fitting. Today, let's welcome Charlie Morningstar and Vaggie, double figures for the Ten of Cups!

(Now usually, the card also have one or two more people on it; I thought about adding Pentious, but our snake should have his card soon enough. Therefore, it's just the girls.)

Explanations under the cut, as well as a poll for the next card to draw, and the rest of the Hazbin tarot cards!

Upright, the Ten of Cups embodies happiness, joy, and emotional contentment. You have created an abundance of love and happiness in your life, and you now share this love with others, expanding your heart even more. This fits Charlie and what she created with her hotel, supported by Vaggie- together, they are the start of it all. You are now surronded by your loved ones (it's a fucking happy day in hell!), with whom you share a powerful and deep connection. You support one another, and you help other to reach their highest potential- on the path to redemption! Most of all, you do it because seeing others happy is the greatest joy you could have. It's the "happy family" card by excellence, as well as a positive card for romantic relationships- you're in a blissful one, if that's what you're looking for, to the point you may believe that you ar soulmates destined to be with one another (I do love them, mh, mh). When the card appears in your reading, it's time for you to take a step back, and appreciate everything you accomplished. You went through hard time, but look at that! You can do this, now we know it, and you actually did. Follow your heart, says the card, and follow your inner sens of Good.

Reversed, the card brings more subtility. You can see the Upright reading as mostly Charlie's idealistic view on the hotel and on redemption; but with the reversed Ten of Cups come the struggles. You may feel disconnected and disengaged from your loved ones, like your estranged father and your missing mother. You try to connect, but each times, something goes wrong, and the distance between you grows. Why does he forgets everything you say? Can't he pay attention? Why is he not calling more often? Or maybe you're afraid to trust, and you're keeping some secrets close to your chest. You don't open up enough, and you create, without meaning to, a distance with others, with her. You're too rash and too impulsive, but you mean well- surely, they can see that? It may have an impact on your relationship; you need to realise that nothing is perfect, and every relationship has its ups and downs. The Ten of Cups invite you to seek out a common ground with your loved ones, and rebuild the relationship from there. Talk to your father about why, exactly, he's so reluctant to help; talk to your partner about who you are, and where you came from. Open the lines of communication and be ready to hold space for one another. Be compassionate, understanding, and respectful. The card can also mean that you're starting to doubt yourself, and what you are doing. Is it really worth it? Are you up to the task? Are you letting other people down? You have to rethink those questions. Think about what makes you happy, what you believe in, and bring back your focus to that.

And that's it for today! I'm planning to do at least three more Hazbin cards- if the fixation does not die by then. Not that it shows any sign of slowing down, oh boy- they are all so fun to draw, too!

Anyway.

And with that, Hazbin Hotel verse is the most represented fandom in my whole deck of cards, right before Doctor Who. Ah!

Yesterday my contributor copies of the Loaf Tarot Companion Book arrived! They are SO very shiny and mesmerising to look upon...and that's without even getting to the interiors! They're chock full of full size art from the tarot deck as well as WIP shots and artist's explanations of their choices for each card. It's so much more interesting than a simple "guide to tarot" would have been, imo! I can't wait to have these glamming up my table at conventions. :D

The decks haven't arrived yet so I'll be holding on to my books until those come in before I put anything in my online shop. I'm hoping to have this available in time for the Xmas shopping rush for Aussies, and I'm fairly certain I'll have the decks and books at Supanova Brisbane in 6-ish weeks.

In the meantime, I'll just to be lovingly gazing at the shiny every day lol. Super proud to be able to rep this project in person in Australia. :)b
