MR14.2024 - How I revived the way I see English and Why I suck at life.
That one's a pretty long read, go ahead and pop in a tune while you're at it, yeah? - 1997 by Småland.
Tumblr media
Despite considering myself a sloppy son of a bitch, soon to suffer the wrath of capitalism induced hunger, for the longest time I had this skill of mine that spiked among the others and kept me sane - my English. Here, down in Central Asia it is saddeningly common for people not to know basic English. That is what I think made me stand out in school and is what even now helps me out in uni.
And I’m not saying that I ever was a boy genius. God forbid. In my book, lil’ me just so happened to take interest in the World Wide Web, in which English spoken content was like a treasure trove, levels more appealing in contrast with the grey Russian media of the time. I can thank my iCarly obsessed sisters for introducing me to the concept of filming something and sharing it to strangers online.
It always seemed logical that content made in English is, by rule, superior in quality than the local counterparts. And for some reason, it just seemed like the niche that was there for me to explore. An ever-spreading ocean of sparkling online knowledge, unavailable to the ones around me, for the lack of interest in breaking and overcoming the language barrier, which in reality, is far simpler than it seems.
That is what I consider to be the icky, tricky side of committing yourself to a language most people around you don’t know - you may often make yourself way too alien for many to relate to.
I like to think that English is what shaped me and made my social circle full of interesting people. There was a neat period of my life, when it was lovely to spread the good word of the western media by sharing memes, films, and videos with classmates of mine who listened and liked the stuff I showed.
But, that is also what trapped me in the aforementioned circle.
In order to max out my English, I had to sacrifice my Kazakh, which sort of ruined my social life and has been actively affecting my grades since elementary school. I suppose I simply never noticed how I gradually have made myself more and more distant, enough for my peers to seemingly have a culture different to mine.
I struggled with connecting with new people, and having casual conversations with both close and new friends began growing more challenging, for the simple fact that they were not as terminally online as I am, therefore having their sense of humor not as influenced by brainrot content as mine is. I frequently stumbled over a convoluted idiom, which understandingly made no sense to their ears, referenced memes they never even heard of. The general incompatibility of interests did not make things better for sure.
So, I unconsciously made it my mission to localise my speech, which I believe only made things worse for me. Trying to understand English in order to dumb it down has only killed my passion for it. By speaking “clearly” I lost contact with a funny little British voice in my head that filled my routine with time for silly voice-acting and… kept me alive. As a guy who’s self-image heavily relies on his tool he uses to connect with his world, It felt crushing to seemingly realize my English skills were dull and deteriorating.
It stopped me from further practicing, because I repel stress like a bitch, opting for escapism and ignorance instead. The same escapism that made me the pathetic man I am today.
I am ending this post with a cliffhanger by letting you know that my “mother tongue” is kindly coming to bite me in the ass if I won’t put in the effort to learn it and will probably negatively hit my grades, risking my summer scholarship alongside my chances for a good future.
It’s all no fun. Sucks to be me. My heart aches. My chest sinks and I feel like eating rocks.

God your art is so fucking cool. I love that improvement meme bc u started out exactly as I did: with disproportioned edgy anime. And u just built from it and made it ur own. But FUCK it’s great to look at. i really need to make time to read ur comics soon
RIGHT LIKE IT DOESNT MATTER WHAT YR STARTING POINT IS, just keep pushing! accept u suck & i say that with dead seriousness and zero self deprecation, cus the second you throw yr hands up & go WHATEVER IT'S NOT GONNA LOOK PERFECT a ton of handwringing about your skill ceiling just falls away & you get this freedom to experiment & do whatever, which is Exactly how you improve
and honestly that goes for all aspects of this hobby, if you have this worry about ruining a pristine white page start drawing on construction paper or recycled paper that already has flaws & visible grain, boom theres no way to mess the paper up cus it's already messy. if youre worried about proportions or anatomy not looking right just start breaking the anatomy on purpose in really wild directions, get yr reference out & draw the same image over & over again with like 25 attempts jammed into the page so by the end theres no space left. if u feel like yr too stiff in one medium switch to a medium you have no idea how to use for a while with the permission that anything you make is gonna look sloppy & youre "only doing this for fun."
most importantly & this helped me a ton: if you have a bad habit of crossing out your drawings when you hate them, think about it thats So discouraging when you open yr book or program again & just see lots of crossed out art, it makes you feel like "well fuck why do i bother." if you TRULY hate a drawing you did, just draw a flower growing out of its head instead, & now suddenly it's a hilarious doodle & yr free to mess around with it & draw noodly legs on it or whatever. then next time you look at it again, now instead of big X's everywhere you see a funny picture of a guy with a flower on his head that makes you laugh, like this does wonders for morale. AND since it's not crossed out you have that ability to see what was good about the picture & that hindsight thought of "well it's not that bad i think i can fix it or make it look cooler if i do X Y and Z"

hi! your art is fantastic! i was wondering - how long does it take for you to finish an art work?
Thank you! ^^
And it varies greatly. Speed is my biggest obstacle when it comes to art. I could lie and say I doodle out stuff in an hour – or I could call half bad drawings I spent hours on, a “doodle”. Sometimes I think I do – but for me, “doodle” is more about how seriously I took the job. If I throw down lines and squiggles and do some line-arting on top without really caring about the details, that’s a doodle to me, even if I then proceed to spend hours on correcting lines, getting the colors right, and trying out different filters for every experimental shadow.
Over all, I spend a lot of time on drawing, and I mean a lot. But I’m getting better! They say you’ve gotta make 50 bad pieces for every good one (simplified, but you get the gist), so you’re best served not spending days on every piece. What I’ve found helps, is to not get overly invested in every piece. It’s a little sad, because you gotta have your heart in the art, right? Yeah. But that heart should be in your love for the craft and your enjoyment in performing it; not in one specific piece and its need to be perfect. Sure, some pieces are special, but if you can’t distinguish between your magnum opus and just your average drawing, every single drawing will feel equally important to you, and that will slow you down from the sheer weight of it.
Pro tip I wish someone would have told me a long time ago: nobody looks as closely at your drawings as you do (talking about the general public; loving friends might).
In other words, painfully slaving over details you find only when you zoom in,… ant nobody gonna tell the difference. Unless you’re insanely good and got 50K on insta, aint nobody gonna zoom in on all your work and look for the easter eggs you put in there (@me, lol). Learn what’s important to spend time on, and what can be left alone. If I had been given back all the time I’ve wasted on details that nobody even sees… I could have made a lot more art lol.
Learn what matters – like general proportions, interesting expression, big things that people could pick out from a distance. And story! Oh boy, don’t get me started on story! Unless you’re really good, people usually won’t be impressed with just a head shot with no story. Armin smiling generically into the void in ¾ view, no background?
“Cool. But I’ve seen a million generic Armins like it. Why should I be invested in this one in particular?”
Say something with your art, make me feel or think something. Because with so many good artists out there, it’s hard to get ahead on just the aesthetics alone. Make a joke. Show something mid-action (like someone slipping on a banana peel; instantly more engaging than a static pose that tells no story).
Why am I being so harsh? It all ties back to speed… Once you realize that your pieces, generally, aren’t that big of a deal, you can hopefully put aside some of that anxiety over it having to be perfect. It doesn’t have to be, and the details you spend an extra two days on will rarely matter to anyone but yourself (which is ok, I just want you to be aware. If you’re very proud of something, maybe point it out to invite people to pay attention to it. But otherwise, they probably won’t look at your drawing for that long before deciding to reblog or move on). If you enjoy making those details, please go ahead! Art should be about what YOU like to do, at the end of the day. But if your speed ties into your perceived self-worth, like it does with me,… well, I got a lot faster once I realized that nobody really cares all that strongly. (Though, I’m in no way discrediting all the support and love I receive, guys, thank you – truly. I’m talking in the grand scheme of things. Art is a lot more personal to the artist, than to the random scroller-by).
How many of you would stop being my friend or suddenly dislike me just because I draw Armin with a wonky nose and disproportionate arms sometimes? Yeah, no, if I put out an unfortunate piece, so what? (Hell, if I can tell a funny joke with it, you might even enjoy it all the same!) Once I learned to understand that every piece is not a blaring spotlight on me where all eyes will be on me and my mistakes, I got faster.
… and with that insanely long prologue, here’s how much time I generally spend:
The first art I started (in 2016), took over a year to finish.
Though, in the meantime, I think I put out a “doodle”. I call it a doodle because I intentionally simplified the anatomy so it would be easier to make – but this one still took me four months to finish!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(The above images took me a year, and 4 months respectively).
In other words, in 2016, my average was MONTHS – on just one drawing! Keep in mind, I quit art for ten years before this, just from how much anxiety is gave me over my self worth (if I made one bad line, it meant I was worthless).
In 2017, I think my average was weeks. I had to take breaks between sessions a lot just to cope with the building anxiety. I look at the finished products now and I think “look how few steps this needed. With how much time I spent, I must have averaged one single brush stroke an hour”. And it’s probably about right. Although, I did manage to finish one drawing in a single day, and I remember being really proud of that!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Above, the first one is an example of stuff I’d tinker with for weeks, while the second one is the one I completed in a day due to it being his birthday and the pressure was on to get it done)
In 2018, I think my average was 2 or 3 days. I put out more smaller pieces, stuff that doesn’t need to be as elaborate. At my peak, I think I could do two of those meme-things per day. Looking back, though, I can see a clear difference between time spent on “doodles” and time spent on projects I put my heart into. I spent days on the eremin week entries, for example. This was the year I started to learn to tier my projects.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(The above shows an art I admittedly spent over a week on, much thanks to the needless details in the bottles, while the second is one of two pieces I completed during one day)
In 2019, I don’t think I shortened down my average a lot, but looking through my gallery now, I see that I started doing more elaborate pieces. So… if I spend as long as before, but get bigger and better content out of it, that’s improvement too!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Above you’ll see an art that probably took me a couple of days - 4 or 5 maybe? - and the second once which took me an hour I think? A good example of how much better i’ve gotten at tiering projects and not being afraid of making sloppy art just for the fun of it).
So far in 2020, I’ve only drawn for Armin week, and I spent an evening to a day on each one of them. After finishing one, I’d uploading it to my drafts, then lie in bed and scrutinize it, zooming in, looking and looking. Then the next morning, I’d get up and spend an average of an hour fixing/editing them because I was getting increasingly displeased with them. So I think on average… god honest truth, even if I’m a little self-conscious about it, I think I spend an average of 8 - 18 sitting hours on anything. This includes the revisions.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Above you’ll see the entry I spent the most time on first - I’m guessing probably 12 sitting hours - and the one I spent the least time on - I’m guessing 5 hours)
I love drawing, but it’s very hard for me. I’ve used drawing as my main source of personal self-improvement for the last couple of years - for many reasons; it has a lot of lessons to teach me. It’s not always fun, and it’s rarely easy. But.. uh. It’a been worth it? I don’t know what your art journey is, but I hope this gave you some help, inspiration or comfort. Good luck and draw with heart, not fear.

c-can I ask for la squadra with a female s/o who just,,, memes the FUCK out, like, ROAD WORK AHEAD, UH YEAH I SURE HOPE IT D O E S,, just all around playful and quotes memes on the daily WHAT THE FUCK IS UP KYLE? YEET *whips and nae naes* (I'm sorry this is so cringy lmao)
anon i think you read my brain because earlier i was thinking of making a terrible shitpost about sending the la squadra members the bee movie script over text so i will do this beautiful and cursed prompt
Risotto doesn’t exactly understand memes, but he does laugh when you play wrestle with him and yell “I’m a bad bitch, you can’t kill me!” at him. He thinks some of the videos you show him are funny,  but just never really gets it. Please call him “big tiddy goth bf” to his face and set that as his name in your phone. He unironically likes the nickname.
Formaggio loves it! Every stupid meme you reference makes him laugh, and he can quote them right along with you. He still sends you the ‘Change my mind’ memes with sloppy editing.
Illuso is ready to spill the tea at every given moment, so he appreciates all your references. He quotes the “wow” vine with you every time Melone or Ghiaccio do something stupid. You send the Kermit drinking tea image back and forth all the time.
Pesci only sends Advice Animal memes to you even though they’re outdated. He doesn’t get a lot of the things you reference, but you’re cute so he laughs when you do them.
Prosciutto is grumpy about it. “Tesoro, what does that even mean?” He’s not that old but he sure acts like it sometimes. He gets offended when you point to a new pair of loafers he bought and say “What are thoseeeeee”
Melone is a fellow shitlord, but he does not appreciate when one of Babyface’s kids turns out to be a flop and you reference the Miss Keisha vine. Otherwise, he happily participates with you in pissing off the rest of La Squadra with endless meme references. He has an abstract sense of humor.
Ghiaccio thinks memes are stupid, but sometimes the images you send him are funny… Honestly, Ghiaccio just likes to watch YouTube videos of people falling on the ice. Indulge him in that and he won’t mind your playful side.
Gelato sends you deep-fried memes that barely make sense - and cackles about it. He has a dark sense of humor but he’ll laugh at the sheer ridiculousness of some of the things you say. He likes the ‘potato flew around my room’ vine.
Sorbet doesn’t understand the memes you and Gelato send him. What do they mean? He doesn’t particularly care to know or find out. Please don’t call Sorbet ‘big tiddy goth bf’.

Taylor Swift vs. Katy Perry: The Complete Timeline of Their Feud
Taylor Swift and Katy Perry's pop star feud just keeps on giving!
Over the past few years, these famous frenemies have seemingly used their beef as songwriting material, addressed their differences in interviews and have gotten their squads involved.
Here's a look back at how the feuding first began and how it's progressed:
Sept. 8, 2014: Taylor Swift's Rolling Stone Interview

Prior to Swift's revealing Rolling Stone tell-all, Perry and Swift appeared to be friends, gamely posing at awards shows together.
But Swift had everyone talking ahead of the release of her GRAMMY-winning 1989 album, thanks to her quotes to Rolling Stone magazine, in which she revealed that she had a feud with a fellow pop star, which inspired her hit song, "Bad Blood."
"For years, I was never sure if we were friends or not," Swift said. "She would come up to me at awards shows and say something and walk away, and I would think, 'Are we friends, or did she just give me the harshest insult of my life?'"
"She did something so horrible," she continued. "I was like, 'Oh, we're just straight-up enemies.' And it wasn't even about a guy! It had to do with business. She basically tried to sabotage an entire arena tour. She tried to hire a bunch of people out from under me.”
Several internet commenters then noted that Perry did lure a few backup dancers away from Swift's tour as she embarked on her own Prismatic tour in 2014. However, according to one of the dancer's agents, the dancers "exercised a 30-day out in their contracts and left Taylor, but Katy didn't steal them."
"They just didn't want to tour with her anymore because there is basically no choreography or dancing in her show," the agent claimed.
While Swift did say that the feud had nothing to do with a boy, both previously dated singer John Mayer.
Sept. 9, 2014: Katy Perry Calls Swift a 'Mean Girl'
Watch out for the Regina George in sheep's clothing...
— KATY PERRY (@katyperry) September 9, 2014
Perry didn't shy away from Swift's Rolling Stone comments, tweeting the next day: "Watch out for the Regina George in sheep's clothing..."
In January 2015, Perry confirmed the tweet was pointed at Swift.
"If somebody is trying to defame my character, you're going to hear about it," Perry told Billboard magazine when asked if her tweet was about the "Shake It Off" singer.
May 23, 2015: Taylor Swift Will Never, Ever Talk About Katy Perry Again
In an interview with The Telegraph, Swift made it clear she was over Perry. "I'm not giving them anything to write about," she said when asked about about her nemesis. "I'm never going to talk about her in my interview. It's not going to happen."
Swift did, however, confirm she had her "enemies" in the business. "It's not real if someone appears to never have any issues with anyone," she explained. "I have my friends. I have enemies."
July 22, 2015: Katy Perry Hits Back at Taylor Swift Amid Her Nicki Minaj Beef
Finding it ironic to parade the pit women against other women argument about as one unmeasurably capitalizes on the take down of a woman...
— KATY PERRY (@katyperry) July 22, 2015
The pop star feud was resurrected when Perry jumped in on the Twitter beef between Swift and Nicki Minaj over the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards nominees.
"If I was a different 'kind' of artist, 'Anaconda' would be nominated for best choreo and vid of the year as well," Minaj tweeted, getting vocal about her VMA snub. “If your video celebrates women with very slim bodies, you will be nominated for vid of the year."
Swift took the tweet personally, responding, “I've done nothing but love and support you. It's unlike you to pit women against each other.”
Perry then chimed in with a devastating tweet referencing "Bad Blood."
"Finding it ironic to parade the pit women against other women argument about as one unmeasurably capitalizes on the take down of a woman..." she wrote.
July 27, 2015: Taylor Swift Throws 'Left Shark' Shade at Katy Perry

— Jillian ❤🎤🎧 (@Swifty448) July 26, 2015
Swift appeared to be back at it again later that month, seemingly trolling Perry during her Foxborough, Massachusetts, stop as part of her 1989 world tour. Her performance of "Bad Blood" curiously featured a cameo from a life-sized shark mascot -- a not-so-thinly veiled dig at Perry's Super Bowl dancer-turned-internet meme.
July 13, 2016: Calvin Harris Brings Taylor Swift and Katy Perry's Feud to the Forefront
pic.twitter.com/m6ebYV8D1r
— KATY PERRY (@katyperry) July 13, 2016
Time, the ultimate truth teller.
— KATY PERRY (@katyperry) May 9, 2015
Swift's ex-boyfriend, Calvin Harris, brought up Swift and Perry's bad blood when he slammed the singer on Twitter. Harris was upset after Swift's rep confirmed that the singer wrote his and Rihanna's summer hit, "This Is What You Came For," under the pseudonym Nils Sjoberg -- when the two were still a couple -- and after Swift began dating actor Tom Hiddleston, who she broke up with that same year.
"Hurtful to me at this point that her and her team would go so far out of their way to try and make ME look bad at this stage though," he tweeted, after initially praising Swift. "I figure if you're happy in your new relationship you should focus on that instead of trying to tear your ex bf down for something to do."
"I know you're off tour and you need someone new to try and bury like Katy ETC but I'm not that guy, sorry. I won't allow it," he continued.
Perry later tweeted out a GIF of Hillary Clinton shooting out an epic "I told you so"-look shortly afterward.
Adding more fuel to the fire, Perry then retweeted her own tweet from May 2015, where she wrote, "Time, the ultimate truth teller."
Sept. 10, 2016:  Katy Perry Would Collaborate With Taylor Swift Under One Condition
if she says sorry, sure!
— KATY PERRY (@katyperry) September 10, 2016
Perry was looking for an apology after a fan asked her on Twitter: "Will you ever collab with Taylor Swift?"
She surprisingly tweeted back: "If she says sorry, sure!"
Oct. 26, 2016: Katy Perry Rocks Out to Kanye West's 'Famous' Taylor Swift Diss
Perry once again rekindled the pop star feud while celebrating her 32nd birthday at Kanye West's concert in Inglewood, California. She even shared a video of herself dancing along to the rapper's now infamous Swift diss in "Famous."
May 20, 2017: Katy Perry Calls "Swish, Swish" an 'Anthem' Against Bullying
Though Perry never mentions Swift in her song, "Swish, Swish," the track is clearly slamming somebody, and of course, fans couldn't help but notice that that "swish" isn't so far off from Swift.
"From a selfish or a sheep/ Don't you come for me/ No, not today/ You're calculated/ I got your number," Perry sings. "'Cause you're a joker/ And I'm a courtside killer queen/ And you will kiss the ring/ You best believe."
"So keep calm, honey, I'ma stick around/ For more than a minute, get used to it," she continues. "Funny my name keeps comin' outcho mouth/ 'Cause I stay winning."
"I think it's a great anthem for people to use whenever someone's trying to hold you down or bully you," Perry told Jimmy Fallon about the song during her appearance on The Tonight Show. "That's kind of what this record is about. It's just like [a] 360-degree liberation. ... I think 'Swish' represents the liberation from all the negative that doesn’t serve you."
Of course, some of Swift's pals definitely didn't see it that way. Ruby Rose took to Twitter to defend Swift and slammed Perry, writing: "Purposeful poop" to 'bomb a petit' to a sloppy mess of writing over the top of Funkagenda..stop trying to make 'Wit..I mean 'fetch' happen."
"I've always stood up for the people I love and against things I think are cheap or mean spirited. That's not new. You have to follow your ❤," the actress continued. "I just think with everything going on in the world to go from rebranding as political activist only to ditch it and go low.. is.. a bummer."
May 22, 2017:  Katy Perry Claims Taylor Swift 'Started' Their Feud and 'It's Time for Her to Finish It'
Perry didn't hold back during her Carpool Karaoke segment with James Corden, addressing the beef head-on.
"Honestly, it's really like she started it and it's time for her to finish it," Perry said after the Late Late Show host asked her to clear things up. "She wouldn't speak to me. I do the right thing any time that it feels like a fumble. It was a full shut-down and then she writes a song about me and I'm like, 'OK, cool, cool, cool. That's how you wanna deal with it?'"
"But, what I wanna say is that I'm ready for that B.S. to be done," she added. "Now, there is the law of cause and effect. You do something and there's going to be a reaction. And trust me, Daddy, there's going to be a reaction. It's all about karma."
It should be noted that "Swish Swish," coincidentally, has a line about karma, where Perry croons, "Karma's not a liar."
June 8, 2017: Katy Perry Slams Taylor Swift for 'Trying to Assassinate' Her Character
Perry wasn't quite done talking about Swift. In an interview with NME, she gave background on why she decided to address the feud with Corden.
“I mean, I’m not Buddha -- things irritate me,” she said. “I wish that I could turn the other cheek every single time, but I’m also not a pushover, you know? Especially when someone tries to assassinate my character with little girls [her fans]. That’s so messed up!”
June 8, 2017: Taylor Swift Puts Entire Song Catalog Back on Streaming Services -- Right When Katy Perry's Album Drops
Actions speak louder than words. Though Swift has stayed silent on Perry's comments about her, she announced on June 8, 2017 that her entire song catalog would return to all streaming services at midnight -- just when Perry's Witness album dropped.
Perry was later asked about whether the move bothered her during an interview with the Today show's Natalie Morales. "I don't know, I can only do me," Perry replied. "All I need to say to her is I love her, and God bless her on her journey. And that’s it."
June 10, 2017: Katy Perry Is '100 percent' Ready to 'Let Go' of Feud
Perry made it clear that she was ready to make amends with Swift during a conversation with Arianna Huffington, which was live streamed to promote Witness.
"I'm ready to let it go. Absolutely, 100 percent," Perry said of the longtime beef. "I forgive her, and I'm sorry for anything I ever did, and I hope the same from her, and I think it's actually... I think it's time."
"There are bigger fish to fry, and there are bigger problems in the world," she continued. "I love her and I want the best for her, and I think she's a fantastic songwriter, and like, I think that if we both, her and I, can be representatives of strong women that come together despite their differences, I think the whole world is going to go, like, 'Yeah, we can do this.' Maybe I don't agree with everything she does, and maybe she doesn't agree with everything I do, but like, I just... I really, truly, want to come together, and in a place of love and forgiveness, and understanding and compassion."
June 12, 2017: Katy Perry Changes a Key 'Swish, Swish' Lyric
Perry backed up her conciliatory quotes by pointedly changing a few lyrics while singing "Swish Swish" during an outdoor concert for her fans. Instead of singing the line, "Don't you come for me," in the first verse, Perry sang, "God bless you on your journey, oh baby girl."
July 19, 2017: Katy Perry Says She's 'Always Loved' Taylor Swift Despite Their 'Differences'
Perry wasn't done trying to make nice with Swift.
In an interview on Australia's Today show, Perry reiterated that she had love for the singer. "I mean, I love her, I always have," Perry told host Richard Wilkins. "We've had our differences, but I just continue to say, 'God bless her on her journey.'"
While Swift never acknowledged Perry's compliments, Twitter was abuzz that the ladies would finally put their beef behind them at the VMAs. After all, Swift did so with West at the 2015 VMAs when she presented the Video Vanguard award to the rapper, and when she jumped onstage to open the show with Minaj after their Twitter feud that same year.
However, Swift did not end up attending the 2017 VMAs.
August 24, 2017: Katy Perry Releases Star-Studded "Swish, Swish" Music Video
youtube
Like Swift's "Bad Blood" music video, Perry enlisted a bunch of celebrities to star in the music video for her single, "Swish, Swish," her diss track widely speculated to be about her frenemy. The release was ahead of Swift dropping her first single, "Look What You Made Me Do," off her album, Reputation.
August 24, 2017: Taylor Swift Releases Shady "Look What You Made Me Do" Music Video
youtube
While Perry hosted the VMAs, it was Swift that got people talking with her shade-tastic music video for "LWYMMD."
Main moments of shade include Swift made up in a way that could be described as “Katy Perry-esque” and wrecking a car (complete with a Katy-cat in the front seat).
March 17, 2018: Karlie Kloss Addresses Taylor Swift Feud Rumors After Hanging Out With Katy Perry
The model-turned-tech philanthropist was longtime friends with Swift, and opened up to The New York Times after fans started speculating that she was now Team Katy. After all, the girls was spotted hanging out together a month prior.
"Don't believe everything you read," Kloss said simply.
March 18, 2018: Katy Perry Subtly Shades Taylor Swift on 'American Idol'
The feud continues! @katyperry throws SHADE on @taylorswift13 on @AmericanIdol#AmericanIdolpic.twitter.com/IBut9mAkhn
— TalentRecap (@TalentRecap) March 19, 2018
During a montage segment of Idol hopefuls auditioning for the panel, Perry's fellow judge, Luke Bryan, asked one scruffy, guitar-carrying singer, who he looks up to as a musical artist. "I'm sorry for this Katy… Taylor Swift," the hopeful answered nervously.
"Oh, you don't have to be sorry," Perry replied.
"I love Taylor Swift," the contestant added, emphatically.
"I love her, as a songwriter, as well," Perry stuttered, before shrugging indifferently.
Will these two ever make amends? Here's more on the feud:
May 8, 2018: Katy Perry Sends Taylor Swift a Literal Olive Branch:
It appears the feud is finally over. Swift shared a video of an olive branch and a note from Perry on her Instagram Stories on May 8, one night before her Reputation tour kicked off. The note is addressed "Hey Old Friend," and a closer look at the handwriting shows that Perry apologized to Swift.
"Hey old friend, I've been doing some reflecting on past miscommunications and the feelings between us, I really want to clear the air," the note reads.
Swift was clearly pleased by the gesture.
"So, I just got back to my dressing room and found this actual olive branch," she says in the video. "This means so much to me."
"Thank you Katy," the text on the video also reads, along with pink heart emojis.

A source told ET that Perry gave her apology to the "Gorgeous" singer a lot of thought before sending it, and has been wanting to bury the hatchet for a while now.
“Katy planned a very personal, sweet apology and took time to write a kind note in hopes Taylor would see how much she cared about putting this behind them,” the source said. “Katy told friends if Taylor didn't accept this apology, she would keep trying because she is done holding on to the past and wants to be part of the change in today's society. She wants to set a good example for women, so she planned to never give up, if that is what it took."
“Katy hopes they finally can be supportive of each other's music and maybe one day soon even hang out together again," the source added. "Katy realizes they need to take it one day at a time, but that this is a great start.”

Media Log #3: Me Me Meme Me
Tumblr media
In 2012, this is what the average meme looked like. A cute picture of a child making a funny face with a lovely,  relatable caption in bold font. The background is clean, simple and neutral, with calm colours. It comes across as very wholesome and professional. A joke that can be shared with and laughed about with the whole family. However, as of recent, this very particular brand of memes has died out, and memes have begun to look more and more like this:
Tumblr media
This meme, is almost the complete opposite of the other one. The photo is blurry, disturbing and oversaturated. The text is crooked and the grammar is sloppy. The caption is a little concerning and doesn’t make any sense. There is no possible way you could show this meme to your family, not to mention enjoying it. Then how, did they both at one point appeal to the teens?
It seems that in earlier years, people were more concerned with relatable content and naturalistic, funny photos, while in more recent times, teens laugh more at absurd, bizarre and random things. Beans are a common theme here, and so are demons. (Examples below).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Some of these memes are actually similar in format to the 2012 one: the clean, gradient background, the bold font, the stock images. However, the text has been changed. Instead of something wholesome, it will be something ominous or completely random. Instead of a funny face, there might be a shadow demon or an ear of corn. It’s by subverting our expectation of what a meme should be that these memes are funny. This is probably why people of older generations don’t find the current memes funny. It’s because they weren’t looking at the older memes, so they don’t have any context for why these memes are funny.

Man, oh man, here I am asking for plots again. Hi everyone, I’m Shawn and I’m a 1x1 addict. Right now I feel like I don’t have enough plots and people to talk to, so if you’re the type of person who loves to chat a lot and headcanon and get to know your writing partners, then please slam that like button or IM me and lets be friends. I don’t mind how long you take to do replies or answer memes. I don’t have any triggers and I don’t do smut. Under the cut are some ideas and fcs I’d love to play. Or bring me a plot you’ve been dying for!
Plots:
THIS
“MY DAD’S A POLICE OFFICER AND HE ALWAYS COMES HOME COMPLAINING ABOUT HIS DUMB NEW PARTNER WHO’S STRAIGHT OUT OF TRAINING AND WHEN THEY FINALLY HIT IT OFF HE COMES OVER FOR DINNER AND FUCK I DIDN’T KNOW HE WAS SO HOT AU”
“ going through a really bad break up and answering the door for your pizza in a baggy t-shirt and your underwear because you have nothing left to lose and the pizza boy is genuinely very concerned about you being okay so he assures you he’s not a serial killer and invites you to get dressed and ride shotgun in his shitty silver car while he delivers pizza for the rest of the night and he listens to you talk and tells you how much off an idiot your asshole ex was “
Princess/servant plot (kind of like a Cinderfella type deal?)
Bad girl/good boy
A plot based off of Watsky’s Sloppy Seconds
" forget the good girl meets bad boy plots seriously give me all the bad girl meets bad boy and makes him succumb to his knees and plays hard to get and drives him crazy and he’s never been this into someone and she enjoys the attention so much and IF YOU’RE WILLING TO BE DARING, THIS COULD BE M/M AND STILL BE SO MUCH FUN pls dance your way into my inbox or like this and i’ll just rain headcanons and feels on you pls”
“i know lots of people get all hot and heavy for the ‘rebel/bad influence who goes after the goody goody/nerd to corrupt them’ but what about the reverse? what if the rebel was the one minding their own business when the goody goody suddenly started approaching them, asking them out, trying to get to know them. constant pestering and cute little quips that leave the rebel flustered (and a little flattered but don’t tell the goody goody shhh).just picture it. initially people think the rebel is the one giving the goody goody a hard time but instead the rebel’s trying to avoid getting seen with the other a lot bc no you’re too pure and sweet you’re gonna ruin my punk rock image sTOP. but the goody goody just doesn’t care about image or labels they just know that they want the rebel and dammitthey’re gonna get the rebel.“
“ someone give me a m/m sugar daddy 1x1 & @ first it’s just for the gr8 fucks but one time the sugar daddy ( MUSE A ) invited his sugar baby ( MUSE B ) to some fancy rich gala or something & ppl keep flirting with MUSE B & MUSE A gets hella jealous & takes him back to his huge a$$ penthouse & bangs him so hard telling MUSE B that he’s all his & all of a sudden feelINGS DEVELOP & PLS LET ME BE MUSE B & JUST LIKE THIS OR COME INTO MY ASK PLS “
“ Gimmie a plot where two people are placed into witness protection at the same time and end up having to pretend to be a cute married couple living in the suburbs. Give me a hardened criminal who sold out his boss for his freedom having to pretend to be a nice guy working at some cheesy nine to five job. Give me a pure, kind hearted girl who walked in on a murder and testified because it was the right thing and now has to deal with what she’d been through. Give me them trying to play house with annoying neighbors and forgetting their new fake names. It will be so cute and funny and I just want it ok “

“imagine dating an immortal and finding a photo album of their exes who all sort of look like you dating back a century. What if the exes were all previous incarnations of you and the immortal’s been dating all of them in the hopes of getting you to remember your first life when you originally met them.ok imagine if it was a plot“
“ tbh give me a “damn you used to be dorky and lame as fuck in high school but now you’re fucking hot and i kinda wanna rip your clothes off but oops i used to make your life a living hell??? pls tell me you accept blowjobs as a form of an apology????” plot thanks “
