Free-hand designed a new OC boy, because I've been wanting to make a WHA Brimhat OC since like forever. Love those guys, needed a funny hat guy.
I don't know shit or fuck about his mentor yet, but that's an issue for another day for now I have this little snake bastard baby boy. He's 16 he doesn't have a name because he doesn't know who he is and he's gonna set fire to your pants.

IN MY ROOM
PAIRING ➩ heeseung x reader
WARNINGS ➩ none really, unresolved angst and one sided heartbreak
WC ➩ 2.6k
AUTHORS NOTE ➩ Normally I don’t write small drabbles but obsessed with this song and wanted to do something for it. No full fic for this or part 2 sorry it’s supposed to hurt! I highly suggest listening while listening or beforehand since it’s fully inspired by the lyrics and vibe
I like when it's dark out, October will cure me
I'm walking these woods, am I thirty or thirteen?
The size of your heart seemed to grow and shrink with the seasons, always fluttering and aching depending on the shade of the trees and sometimes it felt like it got quiet all together.
You figured out a long time ago that the actual shape of it and your anatomy wasn’t changing and instead you were just an over emotional person (if there was such a thing). Your mother blamed it on your father being a writer, saying you inherited his soul and his passion for pouring all of his love into every little thing with the hopes something worth putting to paper would appear in return.
You didn’t write like he did but you did often find yourself overthinking the journey of tree roots and being curious about how building a proper nest weighed on a birds confidence.
It was a lot easier to fall inlove with everything than to tune the world out and that didn’t fall short of affecting the way you interacted with the people around you.
The way you loved your friends wasn’t always romantic but you had a deep connection to all of them and a mental list of all their habits and cute quirks like the way Wonyoung covered her mouth when she laughed hard and the raise of Riki’s eyebrow whenever he was curious about something.
You loved Heeseung in a different way.
Your heart was heavy as you walked through the tree covered trail that led to your house, knowing once you started thinking of him it was nearly impossible to stop.
In your defense, he seemed to have that affect on a lot of people.
There was just something undeniably charged about Heeseung and the way he interacted with the world around him. He was ever confident in a natural way that didn’t have a hint of arrogance and his gentle nature struck you hard the first time you met him when you were 13 and he had just turned 14.
You became close friends after getting partnered for a school project and your heart was soaring when he kept talking to you even after you’d turned in the essay and gotten a low B.
He was bestfriends with basically everybody he interacted with but you couldn’t help feeling special when you kept getting closer and closer and your friendship started to actually hold some weight instead of just having surface level conversations in between class lectures.
The cold fall chill ripped through your sweater right as your mood started to sour and you shook your head free from the thoughts of him or at least as free as you could.
Not asking for much, man, thought maybe you'd call me
I slit my own throat just to see if you'd mourn me
“He really hasn’t said a single thing to you? Like not even something random and completely unrelated to his absolute betrayal?”
You rolled your eyes and sighed at the dramatic exaggeration of Wonyoung’s statement but she was right to be upset on your behalf considering you had a hard time being mad at him yourself.
Your sigh continued as you rolled onto your back and tugged the phones chord as tight as possible so it reached further on your bed, nearly coming off the wall with how hard you were stretching the old elastic.
“He’s waved at me in the halls but I can’t talk to him.” Your voice was muffled just from how much you didn’t want to admit the extent of which this bothered you.
You weren’t at all exaggerating, you really couldn’t bring yourself to talk to Heeseung ever since he had casually announced on his MySpace that he was now in a relationship with one of your more casual mutual friends. He hadn’t told you beforehand that he even had feelings for her and you felt completely ridiculous for thinking he held you as close to his heart as you did for him.
Even your friend group had been thrown off by the news considering everybody followed the silent understanding that you and him were more than friends.
You’d rolled your eyes the few times they’d brought it up, both in light teasing or genuinely trying to pry and get you to answer their burning questions about your relationship.
You never fulfilled their curiosity for a multitude of reasons but mainly because you had no idea what you and Heeseung were exactly. You liked him more than you’d ever liked somebody in your life and your face turned red whenever you saw him smile or felt his hand brushing against yours under the lunch table but he’d never said anything to you about it.
His feelings might’ve seemed obvious to somebody who didn’t know him, figuring you were dating the second he wrapped his arm around you or ordered your food without checking what you wanted since he already had your preferences memorized.
But that was just who Heeseung was and you were no stranger to that.
He was overly caring and involved with everyone he met and he could make somebody he’d met seconds ago seem like they were best buddies from kindergarten. He definitely had a sweet spot for you but there was no real evidence that it extended past platonic admiration.
You were overwhelmingly glad now you’d never been stupid enough to tell your friends you were together before confirming it considering his abrupt new relationship that completely shattered your view on what you’d been to him.
Clearly you’d misread the signals the entire time and the two of you were just friends but the more you thought about it, the more angry you got. Not at Heeseung because your heart strictly forbid you for ever thinking negatively about the boy but just at the entire situation and the lack of understanding from both sides.
It wasn’t friendly when he stared into your eyes with the waves crashing behind you and your friends laughing somewhere in the distance. Not at all platonic when he was taking your hand in his at the school dance and ignoring the dozens of eyes staring at him, waiting for a turn.
They never got it because he spent the entire night spinning you in his arms and complimenting your dress and hair.
You weren’t confused when he laid in your bed after his parents threw a fit about his new piercing, his head on your stomach and his voice a whisper when he told you that you were the only person who understood him.
“You’re my person and I’ve never felt like that with anybody before so it freaks me out sometimes.” His eyes didn’t stray from the blank spot on your ceiling and yours stayed locked on the bruise forming around the new piece of middle inside his eyebrow. “I couldn’t think of anybody else I wanted to run to.”
“Is that a bad thing? Wanting to come to me?” Your fingers smoothed over the piercing and he winced a little because of how fresh it was but you didn’t move your touch away, just lessening the pressure you were applying.
“It’s only bad because how much it consumes me sometimes.”
You didn’t ask him to explain what he had meant that day because you figured you knew but apparently you were somehow wrong.
“Y/N? Earth to Y/N, are you still there?” Your friends voice over the line was bringing you back to reality and you assured her you hadn’t left before asking her to repeat whatever it is she had said. “I said that he was totally wrong to do that to you, we all think so.”
For some reason the thought of your friends seeing the same thing as you didn’t make you feel any better.
It actually made you want to curl into a ball ten times worse because you couldn’t blame it on your rose colored glasses if the closest people to you also felt like something was blossoming between the two of you. Your confusion in his abrupt relationship only made you feel sicker and sicker.
I want your things in my room, I miss you all of the time
I stalk myself on the internet just to see what you'll find
I want your things in my room, I miss you all of the time
You make it look so easy, leaving everything behind
Two weeks had passed since Heeseung posted the photo of him and Aubrey with his relationship status being changed right afterwards, glaring harshly at you on your home computers wavering screen.
Your eyebrows furrowed as you studied his expression underneath the grainy edgy filter he applied to it, eyes tracing the squint of his eyes as he smiled brightly and her lips pressed against his cheeks.
He looked happy and that somehow made you feel even sicker.
You wondered if he hadn’t told you about it because he feared your reaction or if he possibly couldn’t bring himself to silently end whatever it was that you felt towards each other. It hurt more than it might’ve a few years ago because you’d finally begun to feel like the two of you were on the same page, managing to be mutually single and interested at the same moment for the first time in all your years of pining.
A dozen near misses were finally leading to something big and concrete.
Or at least you thought so until you logged onto your MySpace account and saw his post, the same one you were glaring at now.
You hadn’t posted anything since you cut off communication with him but you couldn’t help yourself from checking your page and scrolling down it, curious if he’d be concerned over your silence if he ever went to see what you’d been doing with his absence. Maybe he hoped you’d be posting sad song lyrics or actively breaking down on his feed but instead you’d gone completely cold.
It was the only option in your mind considering you never were able to be normal when it came to Heeseung.
The sight of his hoodie on your bed or his left over guitar picks and crumbled up pieces of paper with random doodles scattered around your room was enough to bring you to tears and settle a sick feeling in your gut so you couldn’t imagine trying to sit and type out a post that would read as normal. Perfectly fine and not obsessing over who your friend was dating.
You told yourself that you were mainly caught up on the specifics of it because he hadn’t bothered to tell you about it.
It was worse to find out from a simple post over him sitting you down and letting you know but instead your entire world crumpled with every comment and heart from people who didn’t know him outside of passing him in the halls.
They didn’t know him during those late nights and they didn’t know the way his heart beat harder whenever you brushed your fingers through his hair or met his eyes in a crowded room. The faceless usernames had no idea there was somebody out there absolutely shattering at this simple ‘in a relationship’ post.
You groaned into your hands and shut the computer down without bothering to close his blogs tab, knowing you’d be opening it first thing tomorrow regardless.
You look so cool getting high
No handlebars, you wanna fly
You look so cool, I wanna die
Is it too soon to say what on my mind?
“Hope you brought some bandaids.” His voice was wobbly as he circled around you and you laughed softly at his clear fearfulness, the sound muffled by the straw of your slushy that was clutched between your knees.
“For when you inevitably eat shit?”
He laughed at your bluntness and the action almost caused him to do exactly that, the bike wheel rapidly twisted on the rugged gravel and nearly sending him straight into the rocky parking lot he was currently riding handless around.
One of his hands was occupied with his own extra large slushy from the gas station near you and the other was holding a small joint that was nearly smoked out of existence. You had hated when Heeseung started to smoke and you spent the last few years complaining about the smell of his clothes and scolding you when he left the scent on your pillows.
You’d never tell him that you slowly got used to it, almost liking it as it blended easily with his signature cologne and his naturally aroma that you found yourself leaning into whenever you had a few feet between you.
He rarely smoked infront of you once he realized you genuinely didn’t like it and you were just nagging at him but today was the exception.
Heeseung had turned eighteen today and while your friends had begged and begged him to either throw a party or let them do it in his honor, he had strongly declined. You had been confused considering he was shy to partying and it would definitely be one of the bigger events of the year with how many people would love to gather and get drunk in the honor of Heeseung.
Your confusion was lost when he wrapped himself around your back, arms circling your middle and casually telling your friends he’d rather spend the night hanging out with you like it didn’t completely uproot your existence whenever he said things like that.
You didn’t even doubt the honesty of his answer, genuinely knowing he had more fun in this dirty parking lot with cheap slushees and your company than he would’ve at a huge rager.
“What do I get if I don’t fall?” He was smiling at you as he rounded back into your point of view but he was behind you again before he could see the way your own lips turned up. “Doesn’t that call for a prize?”
“A prize? What would you want?” You watched his eyebrows raised like he was in deep thought and you laughed at the absurdity of him disappearing back behind you as he continued to ride his bikes in circles around you. You didn’t like riding bikes as much as he did but last summer he’d painted a pair of pegs pink for you, sticking them to his otherwise blacked out frame and smiling proudly.
It was something you’d rolled your eyes at and you’d given him a quick thankful kiss on the cheek but you secretly loved standing behind him as he rode you around, hands on his shoulders and the wind blowing through your hair.
You especially loved how happy he was to show you that he’d done it, something that would make you more comfortable when you rode together.
He was humming like he was deep in thought and you waited patiently with your chin resting in your hand, smile bright on your face at his theatrical responses.
“If I don’t fall…. you let me stay at your place tonight.”
Your heart was already starting to beat out of your chest at the soft request and the way his voice got lower like he was waiting for you to reject him. Both of your reactions were ridiculous considering he’d spent the night at your house dozens of times and was over more than he went home but he always asked beforehand.
Something you liked because then it always gave you the opportunity to tell him that he was welcomed.
“I figured that was the plan anyways.” You took a large drink of your slushy after letting the words fall out more casual than you felt and he pressed on the brakes when he was in front of you this time, a wide smile still on his face and genuine easiness radiating off of him.
“You sure know how to make a birthday special.” He was so beautiful when he said that and the way he looked at you made you feel like he genuinely meant what he was saying even if he was just making a joke about your rather simple nature.
Telling him you love him was heavy on your mind and even heavier on your tongue and it took almost everything inside of you not to just blurt it out and accept the brute force of whatever his reaction might be without any preparation. You wanted him to know that his birthday was special, you needed him to know that you loved him and that you wanted to spend every year like this no matter how old you got.
Instead you took another sip of your slushy and let him ride around you until his tire gave out and he was landing on the gravel with a laugh that inspired your own.
You hadn’t know then that you were currently experiencing his birthday with the two of you for the last time and you wondered now if you would have told him back then if you had known. Would it have made a difference or was he always fated to leave?
Did your love story really end with a simple post from his end and the smell of smoke ever fading from the smooth fabric of your pillow cases or was this all some large twisted joke from the universe, one last test of your affection towards each other before you finally stopped nearly missing.
You tried your best to stop thinking about it and him and all the little things he’d left in your room.

I Want To Watch Kamen Rider, Which Season Do I Pick?
I'm going to focus on Heisei Era shows because those are the easiest to access and the ones most fans have watched so it's easy to find people to talk to about them. Every season of Kamen Rider is a different story with a different cast and vibe, so determining which season you should start on is largely dependent upon your personal taste. This list is based mostly on the shows I have watched or know a lot about, so it's not exhaustive. Some shows will be listed under more than one category, just depending upon what might be most important to you. Guide is located under the read more!
DO NOT START HERE: Kamen Rider Decade, Kamen Rider Zi-O, Kamen Rider Gaim. Decade and Zi-O are anniversary shows that lean HEAVILY upon Rider lore and referencing past seasons. You don't need to watch those seasons to understand the story, BUT you may get spoiled on key plot points from past seasons by watching them. Gaim is on here because it is almost universally hated and thought of as a terrible show.
WARNINGS FOR THE SHOWS RECOMMENDED HERE: Kamen Rider Blade is heavy in the flashing lights department and the opening in particular is known to bother photosensitive folks! All the seasons have flashing lights, but Blade is the one that people have straight up said they couldn't watch through because of how many flashing lights there are.
Kamen Rider Kuuga has a pretty gross transmisogynistic caricature in two of the episodes.
Kamen Rider OOO has a cafe that is nicknamed the "cultural appropriation cafe" by fans because the servers are frequently made to dress up in outfits from other cultures and it can be a bit offensive from time to time. It's not the worst I've seen in terms of "people dressing up as other cultures" and there isn't any black face or brown face but I still felt it worth mentioning since the cafe is a major part of the show.
Kamen Rider Faiz has a black character in it for a few episodes who is written in a way that gives "big dangerous strong black guy" stereotype. It's uncomfortable to watch.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
I don't really like kid's shows and I'd prefer something a little more mature: Kamen Rider Kuuga, Kamen Rider Ryuki, Kamen Rider Hibiki (eps. 1-29 only). If you are looking for a show that feels more mature, these are where you should start. The pacing of these shows is a bit slower and more thoughtful. Kuuga and Ryuki are both HIGHLY beloved. Kuuga is good if you really like monster of the week shows, Ryuki is more for you "overarching story driven" types. Ryuki is a bit more silly in places than Kuuga, but largely maintains a serious tone. Hibiki is very creative and experimental, but it doesn't really give you an accurate picture of what most Kamen Rider seasons are like because it is very different. BUT if you can't stand musicals do not watch Hibiki. ALSO stop watching Hibiki on ep. 29. After that there was a show runner change and the end of the show sucks. Ep.29 is largely considered a satisfying enough end to the show.
I like mature themes and concepts, but I'm fine with kids show silliness: Kamen Rider OOO, Kamen Rider Build, Kamen Rider W. If you constantly feel guilty for wanting things and taking up space, watch OOO. If you had a rough childhood and complicated feelings about your family watch W. If you want to watch a show about war, watch Build.
I love kid's shows give me silliness and fun!: Everything recommended in the second category + Kamen Rider Den-O, Kamen Rider Fourze. Den-O is a time travel story that is heavy on slapstick humor and has a lot of heart. You may have seen a a red horned guy named Momotaros dramatically swing his leg up to rest it on the bench of a booth- that's from this show. Fourze is a high school story about friendship and space!
I like to watch things that are bad but also good: Kamen Rider Blade. You can basically ignore almost the entire lore built up in the first half of the show. The writers certainly do. If you've seen people memeing on a guy named Tachibana... this is that show. This show is very easy to post about. Deeply funny but not on purpose in many places.
I want to watch one of the ones that are especially known for homoeroticism: Kamen Rider Kuuga, Kamen Rider Ryuki, Kamen Rider Blade, Kamen Rider OOO, Kamen Rider Build, Kamen Rider Faiz. Blade isn't initially very homoerotic until it very much is. Kuuga is for you if you want a more sweet and sincere vibe. OOO, Ryuki, and Build are more for if you like watching men bicker with each other homoerotically. Ryuki also contains a couple of side characters who read very much as a domestic couple (if you are big into the "loyal dog" type dynamic you will enjoy these two). Faiz is for you star-crossed lovers enjoyers that can also tolerate a stunning amount of heterosexual love drama (Blade is also a bit star-crossed). Watch Blade if you want to have a very personal grudge against a bench for the rest of your life. Kuuga and OOO are the most homoerotic.
I like weird shows where I don't know what the fuck is going on: Kamen Rider Kabuto, Kamen Rider Blade. If you watched Hannibal and were really into the way they talked and made a bunch of food, watch Kabuto.
I want something that leans more into horror: Kamen Rider Kuuga, Kamen Rider Agito. Kuuga can lean pretty hard into horror in places. Agito is a bit lighter, but still has more of a horror vibe to it.
I like mystery stories: Kamen Rider Kuuga, Kamen Rider Ryuki, Kamen Rider Agito, Kamen Rider Build, Kamen Rider W. There are other seasons with elements of mystery, but these are the ones where the mystery really takes more of a front seat. W in particular is actually a noir-inspired.
I want to watch the one with that blond curly haired Ankh guy that I keep seeing on my dash: Kamen Rider OOO
I want something that's a bit artsy and I also like or don't mind musical numbers: Kamen Rider Hibiki (eps. 1-29 only). The only Kamen Rider season where characters regularly break out into song. The sound track, editing style, and aesthetic of the show are so unique. Really strongly written. Do not watch past ep. 29 because of studio mandated changes ruining everything that made it worth watching.
I want to get a good intro to Kamen Rider: Kamen Rider W, Kamen Rider OOO, Kamen Rider Build, Kamen Rider Agito. Kamen Rider W and Kamen Rider OOO are considered great starter seasons. They give you a pretty good feel for Kamen Rider's formula while overall being pretty solid shows. Build gives you a good vibe for how Kamen Rider seasons with bigger casts feel while giving a good balance of serious and silly. It also gives you a bit of a better feel for what some more recent Kamen Rider seasons are like stylistically. Kamen Rider Agito is just a solid early Heisei show that gives you a feel for the tone of a lot of early Heisei shows WHILE also being a good starter show for you to dip your toes into the works of the infamous Toshiki Inoue. Inoue is a prolific writer of tokusatsu shows that most fans have a love/hate relationship with. He is the main writer for several Kamen Rider seasons, specials, and movies and has written several episodes even in shows that he wasn't the main writer for.
WHERE TO WATCH:
Legally: Ryuki and Kuuga (along with the original Kamen Rider from the 70's which is good cheesy fun) can be streamed on Tubi (at least in the US). If you understand Japanese and have a VPN (or are in Japan) I believe most of the seasons are on Hulu.
*I actually wouldn't recommend watching Kuuga FOR THE FIRST TIME on Tubi because the Grongi subtitles are baked in and you can't turn them off. I strongly believe that a key part of the first watch experience is not being able to understand the Grongi, as was the original intention of the show's creators. You can buy the blu-rays for Kuuga and toggle the Grongi subtitles if you really think its worth it to spend the money*
Alternative: You can watch them on most illegal streaming sites, lol. The only season I've seen where that has been an issue so far is Den-O, with the uploads being kinda wonky and partially missing.
There is... another source but I shan't link to it directly here (loose lips sink ships!) Please reach out to your nearest Kamen Rider blogger for the goods.

How can one express disapproval colloquially? Or what are the equivalents for "Not cool"?
I think the closest all-purpose expression you're looking for is no vale which is sometimes no se vale
It literally means "that's not valid" or "that's not accepted", but colloquially you use it like "that's not fair" or "that's not okay"; it's especially common in games or for kids when someone does something that's like cheating or they're suddenly winning etc and it's like "that's not fair!" - that's no (se) vale
There are some regionalisms for "boring" like I know Chile says qué fome but most of Spanish recognizes aburrido/a "boring" or qué aburrido/a "how boring"
I don't know if it's common in other places but I believe Spain uses the word pesado/a which is literally "heavy" to kind of be a mix of "stick in the mud" and "annoying" - it's just short of calling someone an ass, but it can also mean that something is uncool or ruining the vibe
The other expressions I can think of are kind of like shock/disapproval like no puedo creerlo "I can't believe it", or no me digas which can either be "don't tell me" or "you don't say" - sometimes people will say some variation of lo que faltó or like lo que me hizo falta which is something like "just what I needed" but it's literally "(exactly) what was missing", and that expression is like disapproval + a feeling of frustration/exhaustion just like English [and of course you can change the indirect object like lo que nos faltaba "just what we needed" / lo que nos hizo falta "just what we needed"]
...
Aside from that it kind of depends on the exact disapproval but there are many standard ways to express some things
The expressions I can think of are more standard throughout all of Spanish, but decepcionante is "disappointing" or ¡qué decepcionante! "how disappointing" or ¡qué decepción! "what a disappointment"
The verb is decepcionar "to disappoint" so it could be like me decepcionas "you disappoint me"
...
Standard Spanish also uses aguafiestas which is gender neutral but it's like "party-pooper", literally aguar la fiesta is "to throw water on the party" but is also "to spoil someone's fun"... so the noun aguafiestas is like "spoilsport"; in school we were taught to think of it as "raining on someone's parade" for the image of water
Other expressions are like mentira which is literally "lie" but it could be "you are lying" or "that is a lie" etc. calling somone a liar is typically mentiroso/a
Another commonplace expression is no tener gracia "to not be funny" usually said of situations so no tiene nada de gracia "that's not funny at all" or no veo la gracia (en algo) "I don't see what's funny (about something)"
More extreme or dramatic ones are like traidor/traidora "traitor" or using traicionar "to betray"

Idea for Why The Cheating Arc Happens in the First Place in the Alenoaheather Fake Dating AU
It all centers around Duncan.
Putting the rest under a read more because like with all ideas with this AU, it's a long one.
One thing we've established is that Duncan's cheating shenangians still happens in this AU, which means that Chris would still want to do everything in his power to keep him. This becomes clear to Alenoaheather the challenge after Duncan cheats where he should have been eliminated, but Chris protects him.
This presents a problem for Alenoaheather. At this point, Aleheather knows what Noah's original plan had been and now all three of them are in equal playing field. They might have possibly started their actual relationship. They've been building their plan up in the confessionals in order to make sure they're Chris's favorites.
Now here comes Duncan as a new competitor for Chris' favorite. He got to shortcut his way through most of the competition, and now here he is providing a new drama angle for Chris. Chris protecting just Duncan will be a lot easier than preserving the Alenoaheather trio if it came down to it. Aleheather know that Noah would probably be the first to go, and they don't want to watch their little nerd go like that.
So they've got to find a way both to get rid of Duncan and to convince Chris to stop protecting Duncan. The first part isn't so hard as people already hate him and playing into that is child's play. It's the second part that's difficult. So what's the best way to convince Chris that Duncan isn't worth protecting?
Giving Chris a new, messier love triangle to dramatize.
They already have the flirting that Noah had been doing with Alejandro and Heather separately. So rather than make that private just to make Alejandro and Heather jealous of each other, time to make that public to the other contestants. Have the cynical nerd be caught in a love triangle between two of the fiercest competitors. Alejandro and Heather were already fighting, so just have the focus change from each other be to for Noah's affection. Noah won't publicly choose between either of them, because the second he makes a choice the drama ends.
It's a lot of fun for them, especially depending on where they are in their relationship. In fact, their 'fake' flirting with Noah and fighting with each other could actually be the catalyst for them to fully realize that they are in fact in love with each other.
On the other hand, if they are established, it means that they can actually say the things they've always wanted to in public with none the wiser of their true intentions.
Either way, amidst all of this their plan to convince Chris they're worth keeping around more works as Chris stops protecting Duncan, and they get him voted off.
Which is great! They can now run away with the competition unimpeded!
...Except someone (don't know who yet) either catches Noah making out with Alejandro and Heather on separate occasions, or overhears one of Noah's confessionals and misinterprets it as Noah playing both Alejandro and Heather in order to stay in the competition. (Which would be really funny since that was his original plan, though he never would have played with their hearts.)
Either that person snitches to the rest of the cast, or Alenoaheather finds out that someone else overheard Noah. They can try to scheme to keep Noah in the competition, possibly see if Chris will protect Noah like he did Duncan. But Noah's not so optimistic since it would probably feel too much like a repeat of Duncan, and that's already been played out.
So the cheating idea gets proposed.
And after that, it unfolds into the mess that I've already established with @total-drama-brainrot.
And you want to know where the idea for this came from? The inspiration that led me to rekindle thoughts for this AU?
youtube
That's right, a fucking VeggieTales song.
It slaps, and I will not apologize for this.
To me, it just has the vibes of Alenoaheather scheming, and when I thought 'well who would they be jealous/nervous of' I thought 'Duncan'. Which of course made the king 'Chris'.
And then I was trying to think 'well why would they want to get rid of Duncan' and I remembered the Alenoaheather fake dating AU, and it all spiraled from there.
I can't explain how exactly my mind works. Just like I can't explain how somehow this AU is mostly being constructed backwards.
I just know that it works, and I'm happy that it does.

Tips For VP When You're Rolling Without Mods
I've just recently gotten into virtual photography (mainly for Cyberpunk 2077) and I don't use mods. I play on console and vanilla PC. (I've noticed images are much crisper on PC but I'm still using the basic photo mode.)
There are a lot of amazing VPers and modders out there who make phenomenal use of mods and put a lot of time and love into their photos which is fantastic! It means we get to see all sorts of beautiful and super cool creative photos of OCs and characters and enviro shots that we'd never be able to see in the base version of the game. It's great!
However, if you don't have access to mods it can be intimidating to start taking photos when all you have is a vanilla version of the game. Unfortunately, these tips will not solve the dilemma of trying to take photos of your otps... But I'm here to tell you that vanilla is a perfectly fine flavor and despite the limitations, with a little ingenuity and problem solving, you too can take awesome photos.
Now, do I take the world's greatest photos? No. But I'm having fun and I enjoy the challenge of having to get creative with the limited set of tools at my disposal and I like taking candid photos. There's something magical about capturing a moment as it's happening.
So, here's what I've learned so far. All the photos below were taken on PS5 and, apart from adjusting the in game camera settings, are unedited.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lighting
Good lighting will do almost all your work for you in photography. However, unless you're carrying your own light around it's something you have very limited control over in game (and IRL), so you'll have to rely on what you find. There are going to be a lot of instances when you want to take a photo but the lighting just sucks. You learn to work around it. Once you learn to spot good light sources though you'll know them when you see them.
Portrait and character shots can be tricky without mods, NPCs don't always cooperate. But with a little patience and timing you can grab some really wonderful shots. You may need to hop in and out of photo mode a few times in order to get them though, especially if they're moving around.
For portrait style photos you're looking for radiant or diffused sources of light that'll highlight your subject, think ring selfie lights or when you walk into a naturally well lit room without direct sunlight coming in. Strong directional lighting works very well too, it's high contrast and can be very dramatic but you have to be more considerate of the angles and it's harder to utilize when you can't pose or move your subject. Color of light isn't so important (unless you're looking for specific mood lighting), you just need enough light to prevent your subject from looking washed out and blending in with the background.
For landscape or environmental shots you can change the time of day if you're looking for a particular vibe, and weather can add extra ambiance, so there's a bit more freedom with taking these kinds of photos. Different times of day have different types of light, different tones. Warm or cool. And lens flares and glare can make fun effects. Urban settings also generate a lot of their own light, which makes it much easier to photograph as a subject.
Take the time to get to know your light sources as well. Rotate your subjects or camera, if you're able, and check out what the lighting does at different angles.

Play with the sliders
Exposure, contrast, highlights, depth, focus, and field of view are your friends. Get acquainted with them and figure out what settings you like, what works best in what situations, and don't be afraid to push the boundaries! Crank the settings to min and max just so you understand what they do. Hell, even some of the preset effects and camera angles are stellar too depending on what you're trying to accomplish.
Since there's no way to adjust saturation in game, I will typically bump down the exposure and up the contrast and highlights to make subjects stand out more and give the illusion of being more vibrant. I also know photos have a tendency to export darker on PS5, so I've learned to err on the side of making them slightly lighter than I want them. And it's personal preference, but I bump the film grain all the way up. Makes me feel like I'm using an old school camera.
Take the same shot with multiple settings in case something goes wrong or if you don't like the way something came out, or just to see the differences. It'll also give you a reference point for later in terms of what settings work for what kinds of photos you're trying to take.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Find the right angle
Be prepared to do some goofy ass shit for the sake of your photos. Getting in NPC's faces, moving around so characters heads will track your position, cheesing poses, climbing on furniture, scaling buildings and billboards, stealing trucks to use as step stools. It's all part of the fun.
You're gonna look ridiculous playing the floor is lava on desks, doing the slav squat on light posts, standing on top of street sweepers, or crouching like a gremlin on a ledge; but hey, you got the photo. Different angles (high, low, close-up, far) can also help frame your subjects, tell a story, or provide extra visual interest as well. And don't forget you can incorporate the environment too! The landscape can help set the scene, tone, and mood of your photos. I did some kind of parkour to get the photos below.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Break the wall
The camera has a pretty limited range of movement, but sometimes you can break it or it'll break on it's own accord in certain scenarios. (Or V. Break V, your tripod.) Use that to your advantage. Phase through surfaces, rubber band off objects, utilize being able to pan farther than you normally would. Poke holes in physics and embrace the accidents. For instance, I've discovered that you can pan back much farther than normal when you jump onto the top of lamp posts. Like double or triple the amount you normally woud. No clue why, but it's very useful for landscape photos.
If you've played the game a few times and don't mind breaking your immersion you can also take photos during missions and gigs. You won't have the full range of camera options if you pull up photo mode during dialogue, but in between snippets of talking is a great time to snag photos of your favorite characters or places that become unavailable outside of quests.
The photo below was a happy accident and it's still one of my favorite shots I've taken. It looks like something out of a movie. I glitched through the wall, got stuck and ended up behind a fence way outside the range of where the camera is normally stuck around V. Total Bob Ross moment all because I was trying to see how far I could push the camera.
Tumblr media
Don't force it
Sometimes you get an idea for a cool shot, but something in the execution is lacking. Maybe it's the lighting or the way it's framed or you can't time it right. Don't sweat it and move on. Or revisit it later. Save often. Not everything has to be a masterpiece and that's okay. Everything is practice.

Touhou 1 HRtP Konngara and Shingyoku vibing
Tumblr media
Took me a whole week to make it, this is my "big" drawing for 2023
I wanted to draw something pink and bright and cute :) even if theyre in Jigoku there. Its a rare garden of the pc98 Jigoku idk.
I probably put too much time and effort making content of touhou characters nobody cares about in the west. "But OP i do care" then PLEASE invade my DMs idk because im lonely and I want to actually talk about HRtP with other people who like it thank you very much.
Answering already some questions that I got on other places:
"Is Konngara a guy here?" Yes he is. I always thought of the character as male since the first time I played HRtP (my 1st Touhou game) years ago. I know Touhou is known as "girls only party" but HRtP has no canon and characters like Sariel and Konngara are pretty ambigeous so its up to anyones preferences and I wont change my mind.
"Why is Konngara so white" He is wearing kabuki makeup, which is overall my main influence for my take on the design. The sprite always gave me the samurai guy meets dramatic kabuki actor vibes. I also think it makes him stand out and be more unique, not an average swordsman that can be confused with TH2 Meira, especially being a final boss.
"Any reason why picking miko Shingyoku over the other?" Yes, but rather silly reasons. Shingyoku is my favorite Touhou character overall, but I prefer the priest form, for the main reason that I find the design of the miko kind of messy (speaking of the sprite). It always requires me to do some changes when drawing her. For this reason, I tend to neglect her/draw the priest form more. So I picked her for a bit of change. I also really wanted to draw some ruffles and lace when I started this drawing lol
"Is this ship art?" Yes and no, it depends on you. I do ship Konngara/Shingyoku, its one of my rare touhou ships, but I believe they can 100% be seen as just friends here. I imagined a whole story for these two, and theyre rivals first before becoming close friends then lovers.
"Damn you ship them, Konngara stole the miko from the priest" No. I depict Shingyoku as a kami with shapeshifting as their main ability, so both the miko, priest and yin yang orb forms are the same person. And ill be very honest, im growing tired of the "2 distinct people" take especially since most of the time its not deepened at all, it ditches the yin yang orb form and theyre literally just called "Shin" and "Gyoku". I might sound a bit bitter here and Im sorry, reddit touhou community has been draining me as of late tbh.
Thank you for reading 🌸

I keep thinking about the dinner situation at Verda's house... It might not even happen!! But it just fills me with cozy thoughts haha such a a domestic-pottentially-angst situation, I mean...
Yes.
Just yes
Oh, I love the dinner party scenes SO much!! Especially because the vibe changes dramatically depending on which LI it is and if it's Tina or Verda's dinner you both go to, hehe! :D
I'm hoping there will be some unexpected moments that crop up...and Tina certainly lays some truths down!
But then the other scene if you don't go to either and end up with the other brance (where you haven't told Tina or Verda) was such a blast to write. And the LI endings...oh my *fans self* love me some of those...
Can't wait to see which ones you guys get! I really hope it makes you wanna replay it with the others, hehe! :D
Thank you so much for the fun message! :)

REVIEW: Inscryption – Daniel Mullins Games
Release Date: 19th October 2021 Available On: PC, PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S Genre: Indie Game, Card Battler, Rogue-Like, Card Game, Story Rich, Puzzle, Horror
Review Length: Short (~600 words)
Review Spoilers: Minor
---------------------------------
Tumblr media
Gameplay
Inscryption is an Indie horror, rouge-like, card-battling game. If you want to draw similarities with card-battle games, think of Yu-Gi-Oh or Pokémon cards, but a more simplified version that still requires some strategies. But with all the ways you could possibly play, you’d be sure to find your own cheesed style. Personally, I am not the best at strategy-based games or card games, the hardest card-battle game I’ve played was Club Penguins Card-Jitsu back in the day, but I found Inscrytion to be fun and immersive, even if a little frustrating at the start.
The game is played in ‘Acts’. Act One would possibly bring the most frustration to an average gamer or someone who just isn’t familiar with strategy card games, and as I am both; I was frustrated at the beginning. But, once you’ve ‘failed’ a few times in the first Act and find yourself falling into the game challenge more and more, it can become fun, and you can start to pay attention to the details that the game you and the game will slowly become easier as you gain insight into the fights and bosses presented to you.
The game is filled with puzzles, most are not necessary to the game, but it may help you have better cards to play with or unlock more of the lore of the game.
Once you’ve completed the game for the first time, you unlock challenges that can make gameplay more difficult, if that’s your masochistic jazz.
Story
As to not give away too many details as this is a story-dependent game that should be unspoiled for the average gamer.
At the start, you’re unsure of who you are and just assume you’re playing a blank-slated husk character that represents yourself, which is later proven different. You’re placed in a darkness-encased environment with a strange character that introduces you to their card game in an almost Dungeons & Dragons Games Master manner. The attitude this darkness-encased character has is kept throughout this Act. Once you’re allowed to explore your environment a little, you’re allowed to really intake your enclosure and partake in the puzzles it presents you.
The story is well put together, enraptures, and lets the player piece the story themselves without it being spoon-fed to them. As the game continues into its further Acts, you feel an “Oh woah what” sensation as you start to piece the story together with the snippets you gain access to.
You can unlock more background lore details to the story of the game in the later Acts, but it isn’t necessary to fulfill your average gameplay experience but might be fun to unlock in further playthroughs or if you want to have in-game downtime to explore.
I love both major and minor characters that are introduced to you as you play. They all keep the story heavy-duty glued together nicely. The characters all mesh and conflict with each other well. It’s a joy to watch their interactions with each other and the player, especially once the twists and turns start.
Art Style/Music
Inscryption is beautifully put together. The art style throughout the game changes dramatically, but it does not cause any conflicts to the player's gameplay experience as the Acts progress. I personally LOVE most of the art styles that present themselves in this game.
The music in Inscryption is beautiful to listen to and even have their own little easter eggs if you listen to them closely enough. Act 1, I believe, has the best themes for it environment and bosses, but Act 2 also have great themes also. Some of the tunes might be a bit jarring to listen to at the beginning with their sharp tones and rumbling bases. But once you really get into the vibes and understanding of characters in the game, they’re amazing to engross yourself into the world of inscryption and uncover its story.
[minor spoilers from tune theme names below]
My top songs from the Inscryption OST would be:
1. The Trapper
2. The Scrybe of Magicks
3. The Four Scrybes
4. Deathcard Cabin
The whole of the Inscryption OST is available on Spotify.
Final Comments
I honestly enjoyed Inscryption, especially once I really started to understand and get into the gameplay and story. The story and art styles are the real cream of this crop and really bring the story together.
I highly recommend this game to an average gamer or if you want to try out a card-battling/rogue-like game for the first time.
Cheers,

I felt so dumb after I sent the question. I legit agonized over it at work that night.!
Lighting!! I love your lighting style and am working to refine my own, how do you start making lighting on art?
Please don't feel dumb! But yeah, having specifics really helps me actually say something that might help you!
Mm, so regarding lighting, I admit I'm largely just winging it myself so I'm not sure how helpful I can be. But a few random tips in case one of them is a new thought:
1. Everyone says "pay attention to the lighting source," which sure, is very important. But I've found that my own lighting got a lot more interesting and just better in general when I also thought about lighting *other* than the primary lighting source, especially reflective light. So if I have light shining down from above-ish (like, 99% of my art lol), I also make sure to not just add harsher lighting to foreheads/places where the direct light hits, but also a softer glow (sometimes of a different color!) from the opposite direction, where presumably whatever is off screen is reflecting the light.
2. Play around with different lighting hardness. This will depend entirely on your style, but for me, I usually have at least two lighting layers: one with very soft, big airbrush to set a kind of atmospheric direction lighting, and then another separate layer with my harder more defined lighting. Playing with how hard/soft those edges are can really change the vibe of the piece!
3. Use effects layers, and try different types. I'm also just lazy, and find that effects layers are an easier way to throw on lighting/shadows. For me, I like to use Dodge layers for lighting, but dodge layers also tend to turn things warmer toned. Which works for me because I like warm tones, but might not be what you're looking for. Other effects layers may give things a whiter/ashy tone, or amp color saturation, etc, lots of options! Effects layers also vary by the program you're using, but yeah, the tip here is to just play around with them, you might be surprised at what works for you!
4. Shadows and Highlights are in many ways different sides of the same coin. I know a lotta folks just want to say there is a "neutral" no lighting flat color for things, but the reality is that everything we perceive through vision has light on it. What this means is that though you may start with a flat color for practicality's sake (I mean, I assume most of us do), sometimes adding shadow to the right parts will make it look like it has lighting, or vice versa. So oftentimes, to make lighting look more dramatic or moody, I will have darker shadows on the rest of the character to give more extreme contrast.
5. Especially if you're not going for hyper realism, sometimes lighting doesn't necessarily have to be literal. Even if it doesn't make the most sense, you can add brighter/different color lighting in areas that you want to highlight, like a character's face, or a special point on their prop, etc. Lighting is, in the end, just a tool to make your art, so make it do what you want it to do, not the other way around!
Kinda just spewed out first things that came to my mind! Idk if any of these help, but I hope some do!

AvA/M Headcanon List
This might be added on as I think of more but I want to throw my thoughts out there.
Overdramatic!Victim. Just Overdramatic!Victim. Sure, 90% of time he is serious, calculated and clever but every once and a while he slips into a more... needlessly dramatic persona.
Victim has a collar/necklace that can project a holographic pair of wings as well as a halo. And the wings aren't even perfect as one of them has the appearance that it's broken (to fully lead into the whole 'fallen angle' thing).
On top of that, he has a pair of contacts that glow a bright blue to add to the ✨ atmosphere ✨
For example: The door swings open as you push your way into the Boss' room. The space is covered in shadow, the only light being from the open door and the green-blue emitting from the Boss' computer. A hint of blue before a flash as a single, bright blue line makes itself known. The Boss slightly tilts his head and rest it on interlocked fingers. Broken wings flap out and an arc appears. He only needs to utter a single line: "Is it ready?"
The high ranking employees and mercs are used to this type of bullshit from Victim. Do not mind the Boss, he is just getting his fix in.
(Look, I never had a Fanon!Victim so Overdramtic!Victim is all I have. In a sense, that means my Fanon!Victim and Canon!Victim are the same stick)
On one last note: Victim loves Classic Disney movies for their villains (as well as villain songs). I have not seen Wish (and have zero intentions to) but, based on what I've heard, I think Victim will have miserable time with that movie.
Not necessarily AvM specific, neather wart tastes like very chalky liver with a tiny but noticeable fermented meat taste.
Because Blue is seen slipping neather wart into food, I wouldn't be surprised if one of two things happens: 1., The Colour Gang pick out and push aside any bits of neather wart they find, which causes Blue to ask if and why they aren't eating it (the others will always politely decline) before he does the sibling thing of eating the unwanted leftovers themself. 2., The CG unknowingly eat small bits and pieces of neather wart which causes them to develop a slight resistance to its effects. i.e it will take a more potent dose of a potion for the CG to get the standard 3-minute effect than a stick that never had nether wart.
(Actually, via that logic, that means Blue's potions must be potent as fuck for him to even get a minute worth of effects. Pal's munching neather wart all day and night and, for addictions, you need a higher quantity of the addicting item in order to feel the same high effects you did day 1)
Purple has a casual interest in plants, flowers to be specific. They enjoy decorating with them and admiring them and I can see them and Blue bonding over that.
Blue's pupils are swirls with a reddish tint that makes them appear a deep lavender colour. I'm also toying with the idea that they change colour depending on his emotions.
Tumblr media
This is my boy Soot (Nickname: Canary) and if anything happens to him, I will kill everyone in this room and then myself (/joking)
Red is so youngest sibling coded, I can't ฅ(≈≧ܫ≦≈)/
Likewise, Green gives off 'chill, oldest brother' vibes. Although, whether or not he is actually 'chill' is a whole other story.
(He and Red feel like the ones that will 'fight first, talk later' in a heated argument. Like, they are the quickest ones to get into a fight.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yeah, Blue's lower half is as burnt as overcooked pizza (to put it lightly)

What shoujo trope do you think the UK+Mayuzumi+Nijimura would be?
I wasn't sure if you meant what type of trope they would be in, if they were in a shojo manga. Or what type of "guy" they would be, if they were in a shojo manga... I went with the first option. Admin Neon
Tumblr media
Kiyoshi — childhood friends to lovers
it's the type of friendship where, even when Kiyoshi was in diapers, his grandparents were saying he would be marrying that friend one day
which makes it so much more dramatic when he ends up dating (and breaking up with) Riko in high school, because everyone thought they knew who Kiyoshi liked
when he eventually does get together with his childhood friend, their relationship gives off the vibes that nothing has changed between them at all (except they kiss and stuff now)
Mibuchi — pretty popular boy and disinterested reader
due to his position on the basketball team and his overall good looks in general, Mibuchi was always orbited by a crowd who wanted nothing but to please him; he didn't necessarily like people fawning over him however
sincehe's not actually into all the praise he gets, he finds himself gravitating more toward people who don't seem to want to give him the time of day
this includes the cute classmatwho just shoulder checked him without so much as a sorry
Nebuya — strong guy saving the damsel
he wasn't looking for love when he saved the pedestrian from walking into oncoming traffic; he hadn't even realized they were his age when he grabbed onto their shoulder
Nebuya isn't actually ecstatic when the person he saved ends up falling for him and, unlike traditional shojo, will try to rationalize with the person
they're determined however and he eventually ends up falling for them as well; he like a persistant person who works for what they want
Hayama — opposites attract
Hayama has a bright and loud personality, which is why he needs a calmer partner to balance him out. he didn't expect to fall for the quiet, reserved person in his class; it just happened
the beginning of the relationship is full of him trying to pull his partner out of their shell faster than they're comfortable with
he's going to learn a lot about different types of personalities and that it's okay to not be as outgoing as he is; sometimes it's good to just sit back and smell the roses
Mayuzumi — enemies to lovers
there weren't many people in his life that Mayuzumi let get close to him; in fact, the amount of people on his bad side was a much longer list
he's the type to constantly complain about the same person annoying him every single day, but the moment that person is gone, he's looking for them
it takes him a long time to redefine what he feels for that person as love instead of intense hatred
Hanamiya — slow burn fake dating
I personally don't see Hanamiya as the type to actively go looking for love, but when his mom eventually starts asking him when he's going to start dating? well, he might just go out and find someone stupid enough to fake it with him
it's toxic and he actually doesn't try very hard to please his partner, but somewhere along the way he finds himself relying on them more
he's not going to admit he's in love until way after the break up, but depending on where he is in his growth, he may or may not ask for a second chance
Nijimura — rekindled love
Nijimura dropped a lot of things he loved when his father became sick, including his lover. it was toxic, there was a lot of crying and yelling
it's not until years later when they reunite that those feelings crop back up again
the relationship is slow, tender in the way that small issues could break it again if they're not careful, but he's willing to double down in order to make it work

Sorry if someone already asked but what did you think of Neuvillette? I went into the story blind with just watching the trailer and he was the opposite of what I expected. I thought I'd really enjoy a haughty rude put together bitch but he was.. You know;-;
before the story and just from the trailer, my expectations were that furina is quite dramatic and in need of entertainment/excitement, perhaps even a bit childish while neuvillette reminds her to behave or sees through her awkward actings, being like an annoyed or tired parent having to keep his kid on leash so it doesnt run off
i got it but turned out neuvillette is more gentle and polite than i expected (not that i expected him to be an ass or coming off as rude with his behavior like a certain scholar); he gives me zhongli vibes which is why my excitement for neuvillette calmed down into smth more neutral. if it changes depends on whats to come (still got the next act to finish plus future updates ofc)
not that its bad ofc, im still gonna pull him (also bc my fav/main elements are dendro and hydro and i just have this need to collect those) im just. well. i like guys like haitham, scara and dottore, this is interesting to me. overly friendly gentle grandpas are just kinda "nice"

Mars in Taurus vs....
This series focuses on conflict and the Mars Signs “against” each other. Because of this the series will explore some more negative topics and themes. Mars also covers a lot more than conflict such as attraction, energy levels, will, ambition, physical intimacy, competition, etc.
Taurus vs. Taurus
Stubbornness is likely the keyword most would think with this pairing. It’s true in a fight they can easily find themselves in a stalemate. However fights between them will likely be few. Mars in Taurus hates conflict and usually isn’t very competitive or heated. But Mars in Taurus buries their passion. Their built-up anger and desire eventually gets released. A lack of communication and change can be common in their conflicts. There is reliability in their dynamic and what may help one “win” is having the foresight to predict their opponent’s moves and intensions because of each other’s predictability. Jealousy, vanity, and feeling territorial can be thorns in these two roses battle. Their conflicts may consist of small, built-up pressure until they are at each other’s throats (metaphorically). But Taurus is known as a peaceful sign and these two may join forces to obtain a goal more often than fight.
Taurus vs. Gemini
Two different energies causing a ruckus or mess. Mars in Gemini is talkative, argumentative, possibly opinionated, teasing, clever, and flexible. Mars in Taurus is cautious, patient, obstinate, possibly suppressed anger or passion, and possessive or controlling. Taurus may sometimes be the brick wall Gemini is losing their breath on. These two can surprisingly bring out the ugly in each other. Gemini by poking the bear, being impish or antagonistic, and Taurus through stone coldness, being difficult and maybe closed off. Overall Mars in Gemini’s logical and adaptable traits can pair well with Taurus’s stability and practicality. Harmony may be possible with Taurus’s chill vibes and Gemini’s laidback, intellectually driven energy. But at the extreme of things their conflicts are filled with discontentment, frustration, disappointment, and doubt.
Taurus vs. Cancer
Jealousy and possessiveness are two major keywords for this pairing, at least when talking about conflict. Both don’t express their anger well or aren’t very in tune with it, because of this many conflicts can be filled with passive aggression. There is something to say about attachment here. I know this series I am focusing on conflicting dynamics not attracted ones, which Mars also covers. But I think with these two Mars signs attachment plays a big role in most of their issues. Even if these two Mars signs are acquaintances or have more of a detached relationship there are pains from unmet expectations, broken promises, or very bad impressions. When they don’t know each other well both are closed off and hard to read. Their conflicts can be slow developing and both can be major grudge holders. Cancer can be more manipulative or have very cold waters towards Taurus. Taurus can be controlling, mean, and unmovable. Trust and reassurance are the two elements that keep these Mars signs loving or respecting each other. They can find a lot in common at best, and their dynamic can be protective and caring.
Taurus vs. Leo
This can be a dramatic fight or rivalry! Both Mars signs may seem magnetic, attractive, creative, or laidback but both have their own type of intensity and stubbornness. Mars in Leo tends to be boisterous, brave, fierce, impressive, have flair, passionate, and can be melodramatic. Mars in Taurus is dependable, stable, strong-willed, has a low-key seductive side, careful, pleasing, and security-driven. They can respect each other’s loyalty, creativity, and romantic tendencies but they also need to be careful of stepping on each other’s toes. Taurus may see Leo as bossy and pompous, Leo may see Taurus as inflexible, dispassionate, or overly practical or careful. Even with Mars in Taurus’s reserved, down-to-earth side between their intense possessive trait or solid vitality which exudes endurance and toughness and Leo’s primal passion and power they can create a boom. I’d argue Leo has sharp enough claws to move Taurus in terms of passion and action, while Taurus’s unshakable will can be enough to shake down the composed, royal lion. They can get at each other and make one another feel small or infuriated. Taurus can hold a grudge and even feel the darkness of wanting revenge while Leo can be unforgiving, domineering, maybe brutal. At best these two make a great team and can feed off the warmth of each other’s generosity and affection.
Taurus vs. Virgo
Virgo can run circles around Taurus with witty jeers, criticism, and nervous energy. But Taurus can be the wall Virgo runs into, they are steady, determined, and careful. Both aren’t very heated or instigating people, with Virgo’s adaptability and Taurus’s reliability they can make a down-to-earth pairing who tends to solve problems with logic and bluntness. But emotional sharing or being vulnerable around each other may be a challenge. The root of many conflicts can be the refusal to show each other’s softer side. As enemies they can be intolerable of each other and may even see each other as a threat that needs to go. Earth signs in general are associated with the material realm, and their fights may exist in it. This doesn’t have to mean physical altercations but suing, going after career or reputation, hurting or stealing belongings, sometimes Earth signs can play surprisingly dirty. Overall these two may handle conflict frequently in a mature manner or at least attempt to look like they are. Allowing each other to be sensitive, giving more comfort and reassurance, and trying to tap into each other’s passion will help them keep the peace.
Taurus vs. Libra
These two are famous for conflict avoidance. Their fights typically exist more in the passive realm, there can be a lack of communication, there can be jealousy, surprisingly competitiveness depending on the dynamic, and at the extreme a lot of resentment. Both want peace and security, they don’t like stirring the pot or being confrontational. Both avoid conflict by keeping a cool head and watching what they say. Mars in Taurus is patient, slow to make decisions, is dependable, pragmatic, and listens to earthy intuition. Mars in Libra is objective, weighs every decision or option, persuasive, and tries to lean on logic over anything else. If they manage to pull out passion and anger from each other Mars in Taurus can be willful, stubborn, ambitious, and maybe a little spiteful. Mars in Libra can become argumentative, unbalanced or highly subjective, focused on “making things right”, and maybe a little manipulative. Good communication and actively working to address issues is important for these two Mars signs. Who would “win” among two Mars signs who don’t do well with intensity or fighting? Mars in Libra tries to diffuse situations with distraction, charisma, persuasion, indecision, or through sugar-coating. Mars in Taurus tries to bury or smother a conflict by giving overly simple or practical solutions, refusing to make a decision, plenty of “no’s” or “my way is the highway”, and sometimes through denial or outright looking the other way. Mars in Libra would think or logic away their passions while Mars in Taurus may deny their passion. Their fights tend to end in a tie, suppression, or with plenty of complication. When these two try to work together with a lot of self-awareness Mars in Libra can delight and help Taurus to adapt. Taurus can bring comfort or stability to Libra.
Taurus vs. Scorpio
Are these two going to try to out-grudge, ignore, and one up each other? Possibly. Between these two it is a battle of wills. However Scorpio has a great advantage with their ability to tap into their passion and express their desire, force, and wrath. Mars in Taurus is hesitant, usually on the offense, and finds facing conflict, pressure, or intensity as uncomfortable. Mars in Taurus prefers the conventional and routine, Mars in Scorpio craves emotional depth and vigor. Mars in Scorpio appreciates the mysterious, dark, taboo, or extreme and Mars in Taurus embraces the open and precise, warm and cordial feelings that are met with security, and appealing or soothing pleasure. Scorpio can be Taurus’s nightmare BUT Taurus can still deal with a Scorpio through their endurance and patience. Although Taurus is going to have to work on conjuring up their courage and heat so they can stick with their plans. If these two were holding onto a rope seeing who was going to let go first, it would likely be Scorpio. But Scorpio may be kicking and screaming at Taurus to try to break their concentration. Scorpio is traveling, hot lava or a still icy pool waiting to swallow something, Taurus is a sleeping volcano that is dangerous and destructive once it blows or is an unexpected earthquake. Taurus can have passion and intensity that matches to Scorpio’s vindictive, venomous, obsessive potency. It’s just that this passion is hidden away. Scorpio can be good at hiding their passion too but this is usually intentional whereas Taurus is subconscious. Mars in Scorpio can help Mars in Taurus undercover their inner drive and fire. Mars in Taurus can help Scorpio to become more patient and realistic.
Taurus vs. Sagittarius
These two could entertain each other but they can also face a lot of frustration and misunderstanding. Mars in Sagittarius is blunt and feisty. Mars in Taurus is down-to-earth. These two can get high scores for honesty and Mars in Sagittarius tendency to jab, mock, tease, joke, and compete or play can bring out some direct communication from Mars in Taurus. Mars in Taurus chill and reliable side can earn trust and admiration from Mars in Sagittarius. Both of these people can easily get tired of the other’s B.S. Taurus could see Sagittarius as irresponsible, tactless, and selfish. Mars in Sagittarius can see Taurus as sheepish or dull, or can find them to be too closed-minded or stubborn. Mars in Sagittarius doesn’t mind being Taurus’s voice and flaming sword but they need more spontaneity and an emotional or intellectual rush from them. Mars in Taurus can be Sagittarius’s rock but they need them to be more tender and predictable or reassuring. Sagittarius may win the arguments, but Taurus will hold onto a grudge and may use jealousy or bitterness to guide them towards winning a war. General kindness and acceptance are important for these two to keep peace.
Taurus vs. Capricorn
Calculated and cold Capricorn up against willful and calm Taurus can mean long-lasting peace, realistic expectations, and bumps in the road rather than full out battles. When they get on each other’s bad side there can be control issues, put downs, harsh judgment, and they may use one another or always try to have an advantage over the other. Earth is associated with materialism, these two could fight a lot over money and possessions or they may be very attentive to each other’s physical needs. These two can have a similar energy with patience, caution, and pragmatism but Mars in Capricorn takes action whereas Mars in Taurus can be too unmovable, scared, or stuck. For Mars in Taurus to “beat” Capricorn they need to tap into their hidden intensity and face their passion or inner demons that surround more heated feelings. A Mars in Taurus who can get in touch with their deeper and more intense emotions without losing control becomes as dangerous as Mars in Scorpio. Mars in Capricorn is considered to be at an advantage, but if ever they find themselves being a victim of a Mars in Taurus or if they are trying to end a conflict their biggest strength against the bull is through comfort (either giving it to the one you want to reconcile with or yourself), consistency, and/or physical ways of addressing issues. This can mean cutting off someone completely and physically distancing yourself or by making peace with plenty of affection, food, music, gifts, etc. Overall this battle will likely be filled with rumbles, small shakes, and then an avalanche, if dramatic fights happen, they will likely be far and few between but like an avalanche can cause a lot of destruction and after will require a new start somehow.
Taurus vs. Aquarius
These two cool-headed, logical, and firm Mars Signs wouldn’t get in crazy fights, would they? Mars in Aquarius can hang... until they don’t. Cordial, social, maybe talkative, observant, and charismatic - you’d never expect their rebel side. They have random bouts of intellectually driven arguments and passion for society or their fellow man. Mars in Taurus is chill, charming, creative, hard-working, and reliable. There is a lot to admire or relate to in each other. However Mars in Aquarius’s outrageous moments can make Taurus anxious, insecure, or annoyed. Mars in Taurus can be too unchangeable for Aquarius. Taurus is fixed in their routine, habits, their general behavior is hard to change. Their direction is solid, unwavering, persisting. Aquarius is fixed in the intellectual realm, they are opinionated, possibly a know-it-all, and hypocritical. Their controlling side can come out in terms of beliefs. They are also fixed in their will to be an individual, their personality and identity always unique and rarely changing. Mars in Taurus quietly concentrates their willpower on safety and comfort. Mars in Aquarius focuses their will towards freedom, movement, and independence or separation. This tendency in Aquarius to be the nonconformist, to still have an open-minded side, to crave change, to research, collect, and share knowledge all contribute to a “mutable” or easygoing reputation for the sign. While Aquarius can be communicative and cooperative, they are ultimately a stable, preserving fixed sign. These two Mars signs will clash the most due to each other’s stubbornness and controlling side. They can butt-heads frequently and have a lot of misunderstandings. Mars in Aquarius can be a yeller, arguer, debater, and may get on their high horse sometimes. Mars in Taurus is the ignorer, naysayer, eye roller, and possibly vindictive. Acceptance, honesty, and lots of reassurance are key to helping these two Mars signs through trouble. Who would “win”? Their fights are the type to fizzle out into disappearing acts or ended bonds and at best they can sometimes end up with a “agree to disagree” type of attitude. When loving each other and being at their best these two can make a great team to tackle problems with logic and innovation.
Taurus vs. Pisces
Both don’t want to fight and can avoid conflict well. Mars in Pisces has an upper hand with their intuition, perception, flexibility, and possibly manipulation. Taurus has an upper hand with their determination, stubbornness, and realistic clarity. Mars in Taurus could easily find Mars in Pisces to be too unreliable, vague, confusing, and irrational. Mars in Pisces can find Mars in Taurus to be difficult, closed-minded, and hard to understand. They have the ability to connect harmoniously and deeply, if we are talking about attraction but their conflicts can be filled with unspoken feelings, cold shoulders, the blame game, and sadness or disappointment. Mars in Pisces can get over conflict easier than Taurus. But Mars in Taurus may be harder to trigger or rattle than Pisces. Pisces can be sensitive and help Taurus connect with their feelings, Taurus is stable and helps bring calm and steadiness but at their worst both can play unfair. They need to be careful with each other but at the same time being open with each other and facing conflicts head on is something they will need to work on. In this pairing both can learn to apologize and forgive but seeing only the worst in each other may be how they lose together. Find Aries here

It was in the latter end of August that I departed, to pass two years of exile. Elizabeth approved of the reasons of my departure, and only regretted that she had not the same opportunities of enlarging her experience, and cultivating her understanding. She wept, however, as she bade me farewell, and entreated me to return happy and tranquil. "We all," said she, "depend upon you; and if you are miserable, what must be our feelings?"
1818
It was in the latter end of September that I again quitted my native country. My journey had been my own suggestion, and Elizabeth, therefore, acquiesced: but she was filled with disquiet at the idea of my suffering, away from her, the inroads of misery and grief. It had been her care which provided me a companion in Clerval—and yet a man is blind to a thousand minute circumstances, which call forth a woman's sedulous attention. She longed to bid me hasten my return,—a thousand conflicting emotions rendered her mute as she bade me a tearful silent farewell.
1831
One last comparison from today's chapter - and it's another 'let's remove nuance from Elizabeth to make her more of a caring/supportive woman figure' change!
In 1818, when Victor leaves, she thinks he has a good idea (remember his reasoning was to see more of the world before settling down to married life) and wishes she could do the same. A small moment, but one that ties into feminist themes regarding the difference between treatment of/expectations for men and women. This also reminds me of Safie and Felix; she was quite well traveled, but when moving about under her own power could only go straight to seek a man who would offer her refuge. She also needed to be taught by Felix, including geography which definitely struck me as pretty condescending given her background and a clunky way of ensuring the Creature would know where he was going. Finally, Elizabeth ends by crying and worrying about Victor, leaving him on a question. Not only does that emphasize the uncertainty surrounding his own actions, and even the entire narrative of the novel - it also is phrased in a way to exacerbate his feelings of responsibility towards his family. And of course, thus his failures to meet said responsibilities. If he is miserable, what must be their feelings = their feelings depend upon him, and his failure to be happy/finish things with the Creature manifestly makes life worse for them. Not that I'm saying Elizabeth is intending anything but to express concern, but the way she does so ties in well with ongoing themes and weights on Victor's mind.
In 1831, Elizabeth's reaction is changed dramatically. It might not seem so at first, given that she worries about him in both versions, but let me explain. Rather than considering his reasoning and deeming it worthwhile, this Elizabeth simply agrees to the trip because Victor chose it himself. In 1818 Victor that would have been more of a sign of him coming out of his shell and taking charge or his own life, but since 1831 Victor has already been more consistently doing so, this reaction doesn't read that way. Instead it gives a more passive "well, I trust you, dear" kind of meek wife vibe to me. Similarly, this Elizabeth doesn't spare a single thought for her own desires outside of worrying for Victor; in losing that we lose the feminist angle. She is worried about him suffering away from her, and so provides him another companion, but even then worries because Clerval as a man could never be as dedicated to Victor's needs as she is as a woman. Elizabeth has nothing on her mind but taking care of Victor. She still cried this time, but instead of asking Victor to take care of himself, she instead begs him to return to her soon. This also emphasizes the romantic relationship between them, especially given that in 1818 she doesn't seem to mind him being gone multiple years, while in 1831 she's much more concerned about a trip planned to be less than a year. Finally, by losing Elizabeth's parting question we not only lose how it ties into all those themes of family/duty/failure... she also is literally silenced. She doesn't get a speaking line at all, doesn't get to wish she could travel too, doesn't do anything but worry over Victor and hope he comes home soon.
Not huge changes to the text, but I think it's a pretty decent impact on Elizabeth's character.

Hey hey! 7, 23, 65 for the writer asks? c:
Hey there! :D
Here you go, thanks for asking!
I'm gonna put a cut because... Because the first two questions tackles in the perilous field of "Arja majored in literature and every time she has to discuss storytelling meta she's like this":
Tumblr media
Tis the prompt list.
7. How do you choose which POV to write from?
I think of who could give the most interesting insight over the same event, and choose according to that. It all depends on what I'm trying to achieve with that piece of writing and the vibe I want to give: in the end a dramatic event stays dramatic, the pov just changes the flavour.
Example: In the Wicked Eyes and Wicked Hearts chapter, I switch the POV a couple of times accordingly. In the first scene, it's Aisling because she's the only one to exactly hear what dear Gaspard has to tell her. It must be her POV to avoid a long explanation of how she felt in that moment... That she wouldn't want to give, because the second POV is Cullen and knowing he's not faring well, she would never, at this point, go into many details about how bad she felt. You can see in the second scene what would have happened if the POV started with Cullen right away. Yes, you get what happened... I think, tho, that seeing it first-hand could give a nice other side. It changes again for the mission because I wanted a little "Why the heck is she explaining us her plan?" moment, and to start introducing that there are other people working behind the ballroom. And the last scene, with the final duel with the assassin (censoring who is it because a friend who reads me hasn't played Inquisition and if she hasn't read that chapter I don't want to spoil her GREIS DON'T CLICK) which I kept even if SOMEHOW Aisling in game won Belle of the Balle (don't ask me why, Josie drugged her)... I switched back to Cullen, because him not knowing exactly what the Science Bros had planned added a sense of uncertainty and urgency that made the pace quicker and more surprising... Which fitted, I wanted a super quick scene.
Hope it made sense xD
23. Best writing advice for other writers?
EDITED because the former one was more for Original writing and meh I thought of something better.
Originality is overrated.
And by which I mean: looking and actively pursuing something truely original at all costs will only stress you out. It goes in original and fanfiction writing. Stories got told all the time, and if you didn't start writing out of a bubble without ever consuming any work of fiction, you'll get influenced by stuff you liked, whether you want it or not. It's normal, it's something you can see in big ass authors, in authors that you study as "big innovators".
Futurists, who prided themselves in being truely, 100% original by doing something entirely new... Still were influenced by what came before. Because to do the opposite of what came before you must know what did. You must know what you don't want to do if you want to do something different. And that's why Italian futurists were assholes and I hate them and you shouldn't praise them fuck you Marinetti. Russian futurism is something entirely, wildly different and the Russians HATED the Italians with a reason But I shan't start talking about futurists or we'll end up with an essay on that let me just kiss gently on the forehead mr Livshits I love you Benedikt Konstantinovich and your glorious autobiography.
All it matters is not what you write. Is HOW you write it. Give it your vision, give what matters to you, and even if the basic story is yet another fic of a pairing that got written by so many people... Nobody wrote your specific vision of it. And that's all that matters.
At the end of the day, in the hands of a good writer who believes and has something personal to say about a certain trope... The tropes I like the least on paper are something I enjoy from people that thought about it and that you can SEE loved that story. And it's great.
Edited from before because thinking about it better, it's true that genre should not be considered so fixed as I sometimes see them being... But I thought about it better and "mediocrity" shouldn't be so shunned. Write your story, I don't care if it's good. If it makes you happy writing it, if it makes you crack a smile and it doesn't offend people, go for it. Mediocrity is good, mediocrity shouldn't be demonized or looked upon with a frown. If it brings ONE smile to one person, that's a good book, no matter the originality of it. Which brings us to the point I edited this in.
65. Tell us about what you’re most looking forward to writing – in your current project, or a future project
Uh, currently? I can't wait to end Monster Fic to start with DadWolf x°D
Beside that, I got half an idea of expanding a little on the collection of prompts about Raina... And writing something about the duel with the Arishok. Peak drama, peak tragic hero moment. I need to structure it a little better in my head, maybe replay that mission to have a clearer mind (the last time I played it it was with Garrett, aka a mage... Raina is a rogue and after Leandra she'll kill herself before allowing him to go in her place. Really it would be a categoric "No you're not going. Not in a million years." Yes they'll have the fight of a lifetime afterwards.). But yeah.
Also since today I really want to write a snippet of Dark Lady AU in which Cullen makes it to Barad Dur in friendlier terms and notices that there are cats EVERYWHERE. And as every good dog person that doesn't really like cats all that much he'll be LOVED by all the cats. He'll go to sleep and wake up from the purring. Will get used to it pretty soon, he just never paid that much attention to cats. Nazgul flying from Barad Dur to Mordor with backpacks with portholes to bring their cats around.
