“SHEIN kills our planet & uses child/migrant labor” she types from her latest iPhone after finalizing her Amazon order & driving her gas powered vehicle to the mall for NIKES.
“Theyre evil and unethical!! THRIFT INSTEAD!!”
A Depop notification pings. Her $200 Kmart Jeans has arrived.

Important video by @pixelsandpins on TikTok. Apologies, I do not have the energy to add an audio description but if someone does I will copy/paste it into the main post for others to use.
For anyone using "there is no ethical consumption under capitalism" phrase as an excuse to support media like Hogwarts Legacy, I need you to watch this video from beginning to the very end.
That phrase was never meant to apply to media that you can choose whether or not to support based on your knowledge of how your money will be used by bigoted creators.
It was always meant to apply to mega corporations and how there's no way to 100% ethically consume products without contributing to the exploitation of people, land, and resources around the world.
It was never meant to absolve you from considering the ethics of buying Hogwarts Legacy, a game with explicit racist and antisemitic themes that you don't need inspired by the work of a TERF.

“There is no ethical consumption under capitalism” is taking the same road as “free speech is a human right” from extremely useful idea to something so misconstrued it ends up causing damage because people just don’t know what it really means.
No Britney, “There is no ethical consumption under capitalism” means sometimes you have to buy from unethical mega corporations to sustain yourself, not that being a Harry Potter super fan is completely harmless. Just like “free speech is a human right” protects people’s ability to speak out about their governments corruption and does not protect people spewing hate speech.

Anti-vegans are cowards.
They post in the vegan tag on a public website and then when they are called out for their dipshit takes, they cry and scream and block instead of “owning” those criticizing them despite claiming vegans are “too stupid” to do so.
They are especially cowardly little shits when the marginalized groups they were putting on a pedestal to use against veganism and animal rights (or other social justice issues like climate change, human rights, the environment, politics, etc.) come out of the woodwork to educate and/or criticize them.
They then proceed to ignore, argue with, block, berate, or *accuse those people of not being part of the groups that they are*. Because it’s so much easier to sweep them under the rug then to have hard and nuanced conversations or takes.
These people have fake morals, fake ethics, and are fake leftists.
We see you. We see your bullshit. It isn’t edgy, or cute, or funny. It’s misinformation just like that of right-wing conservatives. It makes y’all sellouts and grifters.

Elias: There is no ethical consumption under capitalism they say. But what if I’m consuming information faster than their minds can comprehend? Think on that.

Unpopular opinion, but as a person who has been in a lot of fandoms, the ts fandom will always be the worst. SPN may be really Fucking Weird, sanders sides may be "cringe" and ooc a lot of the time, marvel may have a lot of problems as a media, but oh my god are (some, not all) taylor swift fans some of the most invasive, horrible people you will ever meet. like jesus christ give her some privacy! leave her alone! she is a real human being.
also, i do not have a lot of respect for her as a person which definitely doesn't help. imho you cant be all "eat the rich" until you like the capitalist billionaire in question who is wreaking havoc on the environment and using allyship towards lgbtq people at a marketing tool while simultaneously ignoring non profitable forms of injustice to stand out against.
anywhooo i know not all of yall are going to agree, but ive been going through @allamericansbitch 's blog and i have Feelings and i will express them

Blaming the average person for buying something that is the fault of capitalism/rich people for making and selling it unethically and then not allowing any other option unless you're rich enough to afford it, is just another repackaged form of classism
Bc why are you blaming poor people for not being able to afford the rich people option

The best part of the upcoming Harry Potter RPG is how many times the company has stressed that Rowling has no part in the development, like the developers were like 'get outta here you stank bitch'

When watching YouTube vids, I almost always skip past the ad, but I sometimes think, why would this person- whom I imagine gives a shit about how ppl view their public image- accept sponsorships from things like BetterHelp or HelloFresh, or even that Scottish Titles thing, all of which has faced serious backlash over the harm their companies have committed, like. On one hand I think, look these ppl don’t work for those companies, idk how much they make in YT revenue and you gotta make money somehow if you want this to be your full time gig, or to at least make money off of the time and effort you put in. But is it not also their responsibility to research the ppl that offer to sponsor them? Like, Drew Gooden did a whole video discussing the actual quality of magic spoon, a more recent YT sponsor, and was pretty (or seemed so) honest about it. But he also endorses HelloFresh which if I remember right, got into trouble about Union busting, or something like that. Where do we draw the line? Where do we hold these ppl accountable? Do we hold them accountable for endorsing these companies despite the (assumed) necessary revenue they bring in?- but then would we be targeting the wrong person, confusing the amount of responsibility one has over the situation? Or do we move past them and point fingers at these companies and hold them accountable?- but do we risk ignoring the harm or discomfort the YouTuber brought in by the sponsorship, which the audience might not have been exposed to without said YouTuber? I would equate this to someone who works at chic-fil-a, ya know actively bringing in money to a major corporation that actively harms ppl, but the thing is- it’s very much different. A YouTuber can choose their sponsorship, a YouTuber chooses (somewhat) how that sponsorship plays out, and most importantly a YouTuber has a lot more social power and influence than someone making 8.50 an hour. So, holding all involved accountable while still recognizing the perpetuator and source of the problems (the company) without negating or downplaying the impact the YouTuber had in that perpetuation is important in addressing and correcting the problem. No one who participated in the endorsement is blameless, and even on a certain level (tho much less serious than the other two) the consumer holds a level of responsibility for themselves to research the product and make that decision. That’s where the accountability comes in.
