This was supposed to be done days ago! But turns out I still had a lot to learn about light and shade - and then I spent all day today trying to draw a good bookshelf.

Ahhhhhhh, finally done with this!

A scene that really hit me right in the heart when reading Sleuth Jesters by @naffeclipse ! (Based of course in the wonderful detective AU by @starlightcloudbaby ) I absolutely loved the atmosphere and got really inspired by it. If you haven’t read it, I cannot recommend it enough, the writing is descriptive and full of beautiful images without ever falling into too much. The pacing is wonderful, the narrative is fun and captivating. It’s all around a good time!

My cousins made their own troll Ocs and I drew them in my style.

#my art #not my art #both #trolls #dreamworks trolls #they had a lot of fun making these #i actually really love the color palette for princess i think my cpusin did a very good job on that #claw is something else #he is a unicorn troll #neon green was an interesting choice but hey claw is an interesting guy #is it obvious idk how to draw country trolls lmao #ever since i told them i also liked trolls we have had our own little club #im their person who they can talk to about it #they will also just sit and ask me to draw tiny diamond and guy diamond over and over and over and over and over again #they really like tiny diamond #but hey i love those little guys so i draw the trolls they demand of me #they also asked me to draw poppy and branch so they could color them #i still have to finish my viva coloring page for them #the younger of the two who made princess is really good at color picking and color matching #she colored poppy without a ref and its p accurate to her colors #the older one who made claw used the ref for every color but he got pretty close when he tried to guess #the older one also misunderstood me when i said id been practicing art since i was 5 and thought i was this good since i was 5 #he was very depressed for about 15 minutes #it was really funny but dw i assured him that was not the case #but like for those 15 min he did not believe me #even his sister was like 'nono you didnt hear it right' but he was already in the emo zone #he was fine later tho and continued on making his troll #and also proud teacher moment but i had taught princesses creator some art techniques off handedly #not expecting her to remember any of it but then she did and apparent shes been using it ever since #im like omg i actually taught another human bsing something its insane

its kind of funny that crk brought out such Emotion in me that i just whipped out all my knowledge on how symbolism and colour affects art. im not playing about those cookies bro.

hi tumblr im pyrr pyrriax and im in my trimonthly artist arc, lord help me and all the projects that are currently sitting in my drafts while i am lured in by the siren song of drawing

Yes, I'm late, my birthday is August 16th, but I decided to post it anyway because it's still the 16th in some areas of the world

AND ABSOLUTELY YES THIS WAS RUSHED I PROCRASTINATED SO MUCH I JUST STARTED AT 4 PM YESTERDAY (which was the 16th. It's no longer my birthday my time 🥲). It's why it looks so WEIRD

Yes, Abia's supposed to be a doll. It looks goofy as hell, but I had to do what I had to do with the limited time I have But to make up for it, I'll show y'all what I worked on that I actually am proud of It's me in the DDLC art style! It took waaaay too long, but it's something anyway, right?

being an artist means everyone suggesting u go into an art career or art school and being smart means saying Hell No every time

#sorry this is like partially a joke but also not really #ive grown up around enough professional artists to say that i absolutely do not want to go into art as a profession though and actually #i kind of discourage it for others too #its not a very stable career and also if art is your passion then you should really really reconsider #because art school and especially art career can drain that love and passion right out of you #im not trying to fearmonger or crush anyone’s dreams or anything i think that an art career can be really fulfilling for some people #but i also think a lot of younger or self taught artists will want to have a career in art because it’s something #theyre already passionate about and it seems like an easy choice #to just do what you like to earn money #and that sounds great but being a professional artist will turn “doing what i love because i love doing it” to #“doing what i love because i have to do it” and that can really quickly turn into “doing what i used to love but now resent bc i have to ea #i once started drawing only kind of because i felt like i had to for fandom reasons and that killed my enjoyment of art for like.#5 whole months. i had to retrain myself to be passionate about art.#so for me an art career is the absolute last thing i want to do

Sometimes my dad's friends are kind to me and it beats up the imposter syndrome in my brain a little bit

#like.#i showed some art i'm working on.#and apparently it's obvious i'm trying to tell a story in One Picture #and im glad it shows through!!!!!! because i'm just winging this!!!!!!! i'm mostly self taught in art!!!!!!!!!#i will always always vividly remember all these talks i had with my dad and his artist friends #either just about what we like in art #or that one time. that his friend was like 'oh yeah values and lighting are REALLY IMPORTANT' and he proceeded to explain why #and how a lot of people don't always consider this first ?#and this has been living in my mind rent free for almost a decade i think #i am only STARTING to get to the level where i want to be drawing wise #and the next step i want to figure out is how to use lighting and values to make shit super readable and cool #but also on good days i love my art so much because i have my characters all here!!!!#and i can look at them !!!!!#drawing is fun and good #and i love drawing for me and ai also love drawing for other people

You know it's funny because whenever I get into a new fandom and I start drawing fanart for it I get to learn how to draw something new. Like for example with Spatort right now it's the first time I'm drawing people with beards. And that might not seem like such a big thing but I've never done that before and now I can!! Man (gn) I love making fanart!!!

Thanks! There's no trick to it except pushing yourself :] I drew a shit ton as a kid, spent all my time drawing, and about ten years ago I got into fanart, and just drew and drew and drew art of the things I liked. I took art in secondary school and that taught me the importance of doing studies, of composition and all the different forms of contrast, and that helped push me along. Your style will find you, your anatomy will get better the more you practice, and all you really need technical knowledge on is technique. Google the different forms of contrast, look at classic paintings and explore the compositional shapes in them, think of art as more than just your line-art <3

#this is a pretentious answer but its true #i dont have enough time anymore to make elaborate pieces like when i was in secondary school #but the knowledge i was taught will always be in the back of my mind #and youll be able to have that knowledge too just by watching a couple of youtube videos #itll change the way you look at the images you reference and thus change the structure of your art #for the better of course <3 #also i just like drawing a lot its one of the things that makes me happy and calms me down #this account is new sadly so you cant scroll down in my art and see where i began with mcr #but even in the year that ive been on tumblr ive improved massively cuz ive been drawing a lot more #just keep drawing #about art #asks
