4. "It was either the radio or I start singing off-key, and I doubt you'd like that."

5. "I will have you know I've been throwing knives since I was 15,", she nodded towards the knife block at the counter, "keep talking and you would find out my actual aim."

6. "Your face is kind of hard to forget." "Was that a compliment, Deputy?" Sabrina rolled her eyes, "You wish."

7. "Are you taking us there?", she repeated, her voice taking an edge, "You have to know, I won't let you take HER."

8. "Didn't strike me as a lace type of girl, Deputy. Are you taking that one, too?", he cocked his head, eyes darkening as he examined the piece. "Oh, you know, I have to win the Miss Universe competition somehow."

9. Her hazel eyes shone as she let out a laugh, "If I had to bet, I'd say you'd be the one getting cold, Mr. Duncan, stolen clothes and all that. I feel like I can skip on asking to see what you're wearing." "Ouch.", he rubbed at his chest at the jab, "That one hurt." "Too soon?"

10. "And you're alone?" "No. A whole harem of guys is keeping me company, actually. They're currently fighting who will be sleeping on my tiny bed, and who's taking the ground, pillowless. A true form of punishment, I tell you."

11. "I'm dealing with a… situation." Her expression was unreadable, "I can see that." "Roughly estimated, how much did my chances sunk with?", [John] asked, flipping back to the view of his face. "Who says they did?"

12. "There's a bat.", he whispered like the creature would hear him and put an end to his game of hiding. "A rat?", she echoed incorrectly. "Sure, Detective,", he hated how his voice shook even as he spoke quietly, "but the type with fucking wings."

13. "Soo..", she began slowly, "why are you without pants? Don't tell me they got stolen while you slept… was it the bat? Should I call Stockton? Though, I think crimes committed by animals are out of his jurisdiction, you can probably vouch for that."

14. "What were you doing up so late?" "A girl has to have some secrets, John."

15. "You could always march over there and threaten to sue them for harassment… Your poor ears would thank you." "Don't tempt me. Because we might end up with a different situation on our hands." She raised an eyebrow, "Them asking you to join?", all he could do was blink as she laughed quietly, "Kidding. Oliver isn't rubbing off on me, I promise."

2. ["You ready to work?"] "As ready as I can be after crash-landing, almost drowning and getting shot at. Just another Monday, really."

3. "I'm not a leader, chief, hell, it's a miracle I'm still a Deputy. Fuck. Am I even one anymore?"

4. "Zorro will be on his best behavior, I promise. You won't even notice he's around. Plus… he gives mean foot rubs." "Rookie.", disbelief seeped into [Mary May's] tone. "Fine. The foot rubs were a lie. Though, I can take up on that task." "You ain't coming anywhere near my feet, Rookie."

5. "I couldn't leave him behind, gorgeous. He's my son." A huff escaped her, probably at the pout he followed his words with, "He's a raccoon."

6. "One day, you're gonna realize what you're missing, gorgeous. And I won't be looking for payback for these insults. Too much."

7. "Your plan.", Leslie corrected him, "That you devised after getting drunk yesterday." "Most of my plans are conconted that way, chief."

8. "Oh, Leslie, bold and brave, agree to march over to Johnny's GATEEEE…", Hartley sang over the usual lyrics, meeting Zorro's dark gaze, "He looks like John, right, my boy? Even the universe agrees, Parish."

9. "Good old Joseph, oh, how he'd lose his mind if he learns 'God' has been showing visions of his brother fornicating to someone else, he'd probably die from the shock before I have the chance to kill him."

10. "I'm having the worst time of my life here. Humor is what keeps me going, besides Mary May's hidden stash… and well, my anger."

11. "You have the hots for [John], and me… I want to turn him into a human creme bruleee. Two types of people, Gray."

WIP WEDNESDAY

I found myself in a strange place where I'm writing buddie fic but they kinda don't have much interaction yet.

It's gonna change and omg i know it's probably stupid and fun but i need to write it anyway cause ficwriter fever.

Eddie takes a breath: ‘I'm not sure you get the situation correctly. Buck just happens to be my son's best friend. Do you have something against that?’ And finally Sam smiles: ‘No, of course not. You have a great son, I just needed to check the whole thing. Evan's explanations were a bit confusing and it looked like more of co-parenting deal which I'm not a fan of’ Eddie feels Athena and Bobby looking at each other. Co-parenting situation though. Fuck. It could actually look like that… ’I give you that, the situation could be confusing at first. But don't worry. Buck is just great with kids. And he is a very good friend, so yes, he helps me a lot’, - Eddie catches the changes on Sam's face: ‘He introduced Carla to our life. She's… I can't call her a babysitter because she's so much more. As you could probably mention Chris isn't an easy kid’,- he is. Chris is perfect. Eddie loves his son. And now, apparently, Chris is the only person Eddie can love. Is it appropriate to go already? He doesn't want to be rude to Maddie and Chim by any means but it would be better for Chris and him just go home, otherwise Eddie has all chances to end up under the table drunk as hell. Nobody would like it. ‘I get it’, - Sam is ignoring Eddie's face or he actually can't read between the lines, Eddie doesn't know for sure but it looks like he is stuck in this conversation: ‘Then I'm all for it. And I can see Evan’, - Buck. His name is Buck! Okay, Eddie quietly exhales. Maybe Buck is fine being called Evan now. ’He is very nervous he could lose Chris. So listen, if it's fine with you… maybe we actually can go out with him once in a while, and you get more free time, Evan said you broke up with your last girlfriend some time ago, so you definitely deserve your own personal life’ Eddie thinks he can hit him right in the face now. Athena would be mad, of course. Bobby too. He could be fired. But it would be worth it! He thinks Sam has no idea. But, he thinks, he has to do it for Buck. This last thought is refreshing as a cold shower. He is doing that for Buck. Buck wants him to like his boyfriend. Eddie could not do that. But he could pretend. He learnt the science of pretending quite well. ‘Hey, Eddie! Can you please come for a second?’, - Maddie is an angel sent straight from heaven to save his sanity and Sam's face. He excuses himself and goes straight to the kitchen hoping it doesn't look like running

Ironically enough I don't see him having a lot of relationship experience. Sure dude is used to others falling in love with him but rarely is the other way around

@manonamora-if - I cannot recommend this author enough. Check out her IFs here. I don't even know how to begin describing how amazing she is-- it seems like she can literally do any genre!

@attollogame - I'm sure everyone knows this incredible if but, if you don't, definitely check them out RIGHT NOW! They're going to celebrate their two year anniversary soon, so this is the perfect chance to read the work and find out more about this awesome game!!

Hi! I just wanted to say I've been reading through Window Across the Galaxy - inching forward but reading it - and the way you write Rocket is so damn good. Though maybe I'm biased to hell and back because that is also exactly how I pictured pre-vol. 1 Rocket, haha.

The switching perspectives offer so much. I love how much they are misunderstanding each other.

Your work is inspiring me to want to work on my own wip OC fic. I've only just finished reading chapter 2 but I'm so hooked on Jolie and Rocket's tale. I love all these little snippets we get about her and her career as an artist/appraiser/restorer is so interesting.

A few questions, I know there are a lot of little references to the comics here and there, some I recognize from my own forays into reading those, and when I don't, I look it up because honestly, you add so much flavor and life to the worlds you write that I feel the need to know more. For the stuff that isn't a reference or at least a direct reference (as in a product from a known planet), how do you decide on names and other specifics? I personally long to do that in my writing but struggle with thinking things sound believable.

My other question is do you have any tips for writing Rocket? I know technically he hasn't said anything yet where I am in the story - semantics really, lol - but even through his thought process it sounds so much like him.

i’m gonna (try to) answer your questions behind the cut because I am a wordy bitch. also these questions are hard because i don’t often think about HOW my brain works so i will do my best.

but first i wanna say that i am SO excited & honored to have encouraged you to work on your own oc fic! if you end up posting here pleeease tag me ♡ and if not that’s okay too. when i started Window i thought it was going to be just for me and honestly it freed me up to do whatever the fuck i wanted, at my own pace, and that is part of what has kept it fun for me.

K BUCKLE UP THIS IS LENGTHY

so in terms of the shit I just make up (Glortho’s Equation, Spartaxian sugardrops, various fruits and foods and soap and recycling-compressors and other general NONSENSE). this is a layered process.

Almost everything I make up, I try to root in a canonical environment/planet, and I want it to make sense for the characters to HAVE it.

so eg, recycling-compressors came about because, like, they just need a practical way to store or get rid of trash. Are they jettisoning it into space every cycle? Dropping it on a landfill planet? Rocket’s comics-canon disdain for Earth + mentions of intergalactic human lifeform rights policies that Earth doesn’t honor leads me to belief that MOST space-folk embrace more sustainable practices. could be a recycling planet, but i didn’t want them needing to travel there every eight rotations or whatever so i decided having a compressor would allow them to have longer gaps between unloading. but like, you could do ANYTHING. maybe most intergalactic packaging is made from products that can be burnt as a clean universal fuel or something ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

similarly i wanted my best raccoon boy to have access to fish. but since he’s a broke-ass bounty hunter 90% of the time, it’s gotta be something inexpensive/accessible (or stealable) - which means it’s probably a cheap export from a planet with a lot of water. Hello, Morag (and the resulting Moraggian moonfish). Sometimes I’ll reference something already canonical in connection to something I fuckin made up just to increase the sense that all these things interplay with each other (zargnut-crusted moonfish sold by a street vendor on conjunction).

Sometimes I do the opposite. I try to imagine what a product from a planet would look like. eg Indigarran beeswax. I thought, what would Indigar export? It’s this gorgeous planet with a cathedral/palace/place of devotion made of glass. if i - an aesthetique lol - had a glass cathedral, I’d want that shit lit up with candles. Can you imagine how gorgeous that would be? Glimmering everywhere. That’s how i spent too much time dreaming up Indigarran beeswax ceremonial candles for a throwaway line somewhere deep in Window I think ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I also figure because of Kree imperialism in this region of the galaxy, a lot of shit is probably Xandaran. Relatedly if it’s a product associated with wealth, I’ll use Xandar or Spartax (also Atraxia but I think I made that planet up lol). I’ll use Asgard occasionally too but less often because it’s supposed to be at the other end of the galaxy. So if I’m referencing a luxury item, it USUALLY comes from one of these places.

For writing Rocket. I think @aliasrocket recently wrote something about this and I agree with like, every flawless thing they said. I listen to a lot of Rocket clips. I try to hear each spoken line in my head in his voice. Some verbs will end in a hard -ing, and some in a soft hanging -in’. I might also use a conjunction (even if it’s not a “usual” conjunction). Sometimes I use something like a liaison in French (I don’t know if there’s a word for it in English, but I basically smush two words together). Moreover, I’ll go back through Rocket’s dialogue on reread and just make sure I don’t go more than like 1-3 sentences without some kind of word-softening. Some examples:

“What’re you laughin’ at me for?”

“Why d’you wanna do that?”

In third-person narration from Rocket’s perspective (non-dialogue) i still try to use these sporadically, but nowhere near as often because I am trying to separate narrative voice from speaking voice just a little.

I also try to consider rocket’s frame of reference for everything from his perspective. What does he know about because he’s seen it? Heard of it? How did he see or hear it? did he learn about it from a fellow prisoner in the Kyln? Someone he did a job for in Conjunction? An alien refugee on earth? Iron Man? Did he steal it? Make it? Buy it? Was it given to him and by whom and why? How trustworthy is his source? How trustworthy does he think they are?

Hello, Tumblr! It's WIP Wednesday!

I think I'm gonna switch some stuff up because I haven't been getting much interaction with my WIP Wednesday game for a while, which is understandable. After a while of the same things, it isn't as exciting anymore and just gets boring.

Starting with the art WIP, I have Silver's ref that I'm working on for To Catch a Hedgehog (as requested by the poll I put out)

And underneath the cut, here's about 500 words from To Catch a Hedgehog (if you don't like sonadow, no need to look under this cut. Ik at least one of the people I tagged isn't too big on it so yeah, no need to read if you're not into it lol)

"Informant. Now, why haven't you moved yet?" 

Sonic: "SO YOU WERE STALKING ME! GO AWAY!" 

Shadow: "I told you, it's not stalking. And I'm trying to save your ass."

Sonic: "After trying to take me out? Nah. I'm good." 

Shadow: "Look, I get it. But if you don't get out of the city, Robotnik is going to fire me and sick somebody else on you, and I doubt they'd be as merciful as I have been." 

Sonic: "Huh... 'have been'... interesting word choice. Okay, I'll bite. Why do you want to save me so bad when it's obviously putting your job at risk? I'm literally the person trying to wake people up and get Butt-nik out of power. Why are you turning on your boss?" 

Shadow didn't respond for a while. Why was he doing this? Sonic was right. He was putting his job, hell, maybe even his life on the line for a random guy. But this random guy was the only person stubborn enough to pull the kind of stunt he did. But if Robotnik wanted him dead so bad, then maybe it was because it was working. 

Besides, while Shadow had a job, it wasn't pleasant. It had never been something he wanted. He remembered wanting to help people, help Maria. He remembered saving up for medical school... before Ivo took out the council. Now he'd ended too many lives with his own hands.

Maria would have hated the person he'd become. He sure did. 

Her face flashed in his mind's eye. Her smile, encouraging. 

He swallowed. Then he typed out his reply.

Shadow: "You're not the only one who's lost people you loved to that monster." 

Sonic didn't reply for a bit. Shadow wasn't sure if he was going to, if that was a good enough reason to listen to him. 

Several minutes later, there was a new reply. 

Sonic: "I guess everyone has. But then why have you gone along with it for so long?" 

Shadow: "In the moment, I guess it beats starving." 

Sonic: "...Yeah, I still don't trust you. How do I know you're not gonna come here and murder me in my sleep anyway?" 

Shadow: "If I were going to do that, I already would have."

Sonic: "Sure... Anyway, is that all? Because I'm hungry and I can smell my roommate making chili." 

Shadow: "No. I want to know how you got those paintings up so fast. And you said you'd seen it when people become completely cybernetic. How?" 

Sonic: "Question numero uno, trade secret. Question numero dos, you don't want to know." 

Shadow: "I work for the government and even I don't know. I didn't even know that could happen." 

Sonic: "Oh, it does. All the time. Not pretty." 

Shadow: "How do you know?"

Sonic: "...Alright, look. I'm gonna set up a more secure account (and probably burn this one). I'll message you on the one condition that you don't tell anyone who I am. We can go from there after I've eaten." 

Shadow: "Fair enough."

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not? Always! I haven't responded to comments on my latest chapter yet, but I will. It's really important to me: 1) If someone takes the time to read my work AND share their thoughts with me, that really does mean so much, saying thank you (and clumsily attempting to express the depth of my gratitude in an annoying amount of emojis) is the least I can do; and 2) This is a community! The validation is nice, yes, but I write to connect with people. I love hearing what people have to say and I love to talk with them about it! I've made friends through my ao3 comments, we're all here because we love the same thing, and if you're excited about my silly contributions OF COURSE I'm gonna want to talk to you! Your reactions to the work are just as important as the work itself imo. Art is a conversation!

6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? Probably make my wish come true, just because it's an alternate POV of a scene in a different fic so the main conflict remains unresolved. But it still has a feel-good ending! Sad endings don't exist in my world

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? I'm not sure! What do you guys think? Generally in my fics I try to wrap everything up in a happy little bow without everything being too perfect--we still have to work, we still make mistakes, life is still hell; but it's easier when we have each other and have found faith in ourselves.

8. Do you get hate on fics? I haven't yet...... (bracing myself for my first hate comment to come through as soon as I publish this post)

9. Do you write smut? If so what kind? Sure do! I write the over-the-top, too long, lots of emotion, lots of laughing/banter, taking-off-your-pants-is-awkward kind. Sex is cool but friendship is the most romantic thing to me ❤️ I enjoy writing smut the most when they really, genuinely like each other as people.

10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written? I have not and I doubt I would. Probably the closest I would get is an au based on another piece of media (I do dream of a hankcon twin peaks au)

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen? I have never even considered that being a thing until now

12. Have you ever had a fic translated? Someone requested to translate one of my fics but I don't know if it will ever come to fruition. I hope it does though, I would love that!

13. Have you ever cowritten a fic before? No but I've briefly discussed it with a friend... now that I'm done with the bb I'll need to contact them and see if they're still interested because I sure am 👀👀

15. What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will? I started a fic where Connor works in a sex shop and a very vanilla Hank comes in looking for something to spice things up with his girlfriend. He gets some fuzzy handcuffs and they do their job when it comes to Hank's boner, unfortunately that has more to do with Hank fantasizing about the person who sold them to him more than anything else. He breaks up with the girlfriend and most of the fic would be Hank continuing to frequent the sex shop as an excuse to talk to Connor as he gets more and more in over his head thanks to Connor's recommendations. It was really good in my head, but when I put it to paper it just... wasn't. So I'll probably never continue it.

16. What are your writing strengths? Characterization, I think! I get a lot of compliments on it. It's the best feeling when someone falls in love with one of my characters ❤️

17. What are your writing weaknesses? Setting 😖 I like to pepper in details as I go, I really struggle when the scene calls for describing the whole-ass place at once

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic? If y'all want a fic about the Duolingo characters, sure. Otherwise I'm sure I'd be abysmal at it. I'm not proficient enough in any other language to get the voice right.

19. First fandom you wrote for? DBH. I am a fic-writing newbie and also I tend to stick with one thing for 4,000 years

20. Favourite fic you've ever written? Probably long way home, it's not as popular as mall santa but there's so much of my soul in that fic. Artistically and thematically, it's very me, and it's also the story that taught me how to write. I had never written any work of fiction before I started it (Hankcon was just that strong) and now I never want to do anything else. It depends on the comment, but I don't respond all the time. If someone has a question, or I feel I need to correct them/steer them in the right direction, I'll answer, but I don't respond to most of the ones gushing/aweing over the fic, not to say I don't still appreciate them all immensely.

6 - What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Rom, My Beloved is my saddest/angstiest from my individual works, but there are some really angsty fics in my Loki and Markiplier Ego compiled works. I wrote it because Rom is my favorite Bloodborne boss and I just loved her lore, but tragedy abounds when you talk about a Soulsborne game

A lot of my fics nowadays have happy endings, but my favorite of my completed individual works is probably The Rescue of Magistrate Ancunin, because it's open-ended as to what could happen next but it takes a devastating moment from Astarion's life and makes it nice and a little silly

In recent memory, no, but I'm sure I have at some point. I usually delete it and move on

Very vanilla but very emotionally-charged. I have a tendency to focus more on the emotions of those involved and how they feel about their partner over how the sex feels

I have a Breath of the Wild fic planned out, with notes and even a first chapter written out and future ones with little bits drabbled out, but when I tried revisiting it again, I was just so lost in what I had planned. I hope one day I can finish it, but it's not gonna be soon

I've been told that it's the little details I add that ground it more into reality, ie hair getting caught on earrings or a voice cracking while trying to sing

I feel like I don't describe things complex enough. I can describe emotions or scenery and dip in a little bit, but I can never get it deep *enough*, but I know that comes mostly with neurodivergences and comparing myself to others

18 - Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

I hate when writers have foreign words/phrases in the middle of a fic and don't translate them until the very very end. That means I have so pick up the context clues around it, translate it myself, or risk getting spoiled trying to find the translation

Also, if your character uses sign language, don't put it in italics or ' ', just write it out like if it was verbal dialogue. "They signed, '[fill in the blank]'" Describe the way the gestures are formed (sloppy, sharp, indecipherable, fast) to get across emotion, and also the expressions on their face, since sign languages are very heavily reliant on facial emotions to ass meaning to the signs themselves

Hard to say. I first started my writing on Wattpad, and have since been locked out of that account, but it was probably Doctor Who, knowing me

I have a hard time picking favorites! And I like a bunch of them for a variety of different reasons, and always have things to nitpick about them

I will say I am really really enjoying my work on I Come With Knives so far. It's a passion project and I have some very big, angsty things planned for the future that I can't wait to get to >:3

17 as of right now.

2. What is your AO3 wordcount?

3. What fandoms do you write for?

Mostly Hylics, but I've dabbled in several different fandoms. I've also written for the band Ghost, Pathologic, Knock-Knock, created the Neverending Nightmares tag on AO3 which still only contains the 3 fics I wrote for it, and am currently writing an epic novel-length Dark Souls fanfic!

4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

5. Do you respond to comments?

I always try to respond to every comment I get since it's not often that I get any. There were a few that ended up slipping through the cracks of my memory, and to those I'm sorry since it now feels kinda weird to respond to a comment written years ago, but mostly if you see a comment that I haven't answered it most likely means I've already responded to the person on another social media site.

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Definitely a tie between The Moon is Down and Chaos Inverted, but frankly that's to be expected since Gibby's such a doomed character. Out of all the blorbos I had to write Shakespearean levels of angst for it somehow ended up being the clay alien who's head looks like an orange and/or zoopals plate XD

7. What is the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Ironically it's a Pathologic fic I wrote two years ago called Like A Fire Melting Us Down. Basically a hurt/comfort fluff fic featuring Murky and Daniil bonding over both being autistic. It's probably the only fic I've written fic I've written that has a definitively happy ending, as in there's no room for darker speculation for the future or anything like that.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

Thankfully no. If anyone out there doesn't like my fics they've done good not to harass me about it.

9. Do you write smut? If so, which kind?

No.

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest crossover you’ve ever written?

The only crossovers I've written thus far both involve the game Knock-Knock; either the Lodger interacting with Thomas Smith from Neverending Nightmares or Daniil Dankovsky from Pathologic.

The latter comes from the fic Intruder, which I'm most proud of of all the crossovers I've done so far, yet I'm kinda surprised no one else has attempted this themselves or entertained the idea of my fic since Knock-Knock was what inspired Pathologic: The Marble Nest to begin with. I guess it's true that there are only 12 Western Knock-Knock fans left on the internet...

Also thankful this hasn't happened yet.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

No, but if anyone wants to please let me know. I'd be more than happy for my stories to cross language barriers!

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

One time my fellow Hylics fic veteran bombcollar wrote a story called Dedusmuln's Dossier, which is all about Dedusmuln documenting all of the enemies in Hylics 2, and which I contributed two pieces of writing for The Hand of Moodbleen and Carassius! It's an awesome fic I recommend any Hylics fan check out, and I had some good fun thinking of what I wanted them to say about these two uniquely annoying enemies.

14. What’s your all-time favorite ship?

Goddammit I don't fucking know lmao. I don't take shipping as seriously as other people do. For now I'll say Burakhovsky for all the beautiful art I've seen for it, the Hylics crew being in a queerplatonic polycule and, just to throw an insane curve ball at everyone in the room, Siegmeyer/Domhnall ;-)

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

I'm gonna finish 'em all one day. I will not leave my children to rot in the pits of Writer's Block Hell...

16. What are your writing strengths?

I've been told by many people that they tend to really love the way I write dialogue for each of the characters I work with, original or already created. I'm also a lover of environmental descriptions and am always trying to build upon and improve in that aspect into my works.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Probably fight scenes since I've had so little practice, and due to a lot of the books I read not really having that many. I'm hoping To The Accursed can help me improve on that front, since Dark Souls is so heavily combat-oriented.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

I haven't gone farther than using singular words in other languages as of right now. That's something I'm definitely gonna need to step up on later down the line, particularly since there will be Dark Souls characters I'll be writing soon who will be speaking some sentences in Latin and Welsh respectively.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

The Swedish metal band Ghost! It was a story called For A Divine Cause which was about Papa Emeritus Primo realizing he suffers stage fright right before he's supposed to start touring for the first album, and thus summons his younger brother Terzo to help shape him up into being a good front man.

It's without question the worst of my fics from a writing and technical perspective, but it was the first one I ever wrote so that's kinda to be expected. I am pleasantly surprised it has so many kudos and bookmarks after all these years!

20. Favorite fic you’ve written?

Honestly, I'm think I'm gonna have to make it a tie between Dedusmuln Uncharted and Chaos Inverted.

The first is the fic where I truly started getting more creative in my writing (and is my first full made podfic which I'm even more proud of!), while the latter was sooooo much fun to write and gave me the confidence to write novellas. The Hylics fandom has been so supportive of my work, and I thank you all for being the best fandom experience I've ever had <3

Tatort Münster (technically Doctor Strange too, but it's a Münster/Doctor Strange crossover and I'm not in the fandom apart from that)

4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

Entangled: Mit seiner freien Hand riss er sich seinen Schal vom Hals, knüllte ihn zusammen und presste ihn auf die Wunde. Der helle Kaschmir saugte sich mit beängstigender Geschwindigkeit voll. Faser um Faser sickerte das dunkelrote Blut durch den Stoff, erreichte warm Boernes Finger und breitete sich darunter unaufhaltsam weiter aus. Boerne war das gewohnt. Sollte das gewohnt sein. Doch dieses Mal war es Thiel, der unter seinen Händen wegblutete.

Hat mich gefreut: Thiel ist in Gefahr, Boerne geht dazwischen.

Väter und Sohn: Thiel ist alleinerziehend. Und damit völlig überfordert. Bis Boerne ihm zur Seite springt, und sie zusammen überfordert sind.

Leer: Thiel kommt an dem Abend erst später in die Gerichtsmedizin, was Boerne zu viel Zeit zum Nachdenken gibt.

Perché non lo chiede a me?: Thiel verschluckte sich fast an seinem Wasser. Was hatte Boerne da gerade gesagt?

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

I would second @iiiflow: I try very much to. If I don't respond I just haven’t found the energy yet. The thing is … I love to know that someone felt something, laughed, cried or was excited while reading the fic. And I think it’s amazing when people take their time to tell me about it. Sometimes the feeling is quite overwhelming because I'd like to give them an adequate response and then I'm suddenly missing the words to do so. Especially if there are several comments waiting for a response. I guess I'm overthinking this a bit too much and should just write what comes to my mind first :D

I love reading people's comments, but I get very nervous about writing back. I haven't responded yet to those on my most recent story and two older ones, I'm gonna try to write back soon.

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

That would be Nachbeben, a story about Boerne struggling with cocaine consumption. It's a very open ending, one I liked a lot. My beta reader thought it was too cruel, but the comments I got were really reassuring that it was the right ending.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Probably Hat mich gefreut (my first story, what does that say about me? 🙈). Several of my stories have a happy end, but this one is probably the angstiest before the end, so it's all the sweeter :)

8. Do you get hate on fics?

Thank goodness no, everybody is so kind <3

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

I dabbled once for Mein Herz in deiner Hand, but I don't think I could do it again. I still can't tell whether it was good or not, and I feel like a colorblind person trying to paint. I'd rather explore aro/ace/queerplatonic themes :) (not that they're mutually exclusive)

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?

I've written one, and I would it's pretty crazy: Tatort Münster/Doctor Strange. It's basically the 2016 Doctor Strange movie with the Münster characters: Boerne goes on Doctor Strange's journey, injuring his hands, going to Kamar-Taj and learning magic. With the difference that he does end up with Thiel ;)

I don't think so, no.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

Not yet either.

14. What’s your all time favourite ship?

Oof, that tough. Either Thiel/Boerne or Crowley/Aziraphale.

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

The Secrets We Keep. It's a Tatort Münster Vampire AU. I love it and I have like 30k of plot in my head, but I have so many WIPs I don't know if I'll ever get to it. I would love to though.

16. What are your writing strengths?

My beta reader says my strength is creating detail and immersing the reader through that.

It takes me really long to write. My first drafts are not legible, they're not really first drafts at all, more like sentence fragments with multiple alternatives for nouns, verbs, chunks etc. I just keep narrowing it down and editing and it somehow slowly morphs into the final version. Not sure if that's the best approach, it's definitely a time-consuming approach. I could never write a story in 90 minutes or even 120, or at least not one I'd feel happy with.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

I included some dialogue in Italian in 'Perché non lo chiede a me?', and I tried to imply what was being said through internal monologue, for readers who don't know Italian. I think as long as you ensure that readers can follow (unless the point is that they can't), dialogue in another language is fine.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

Does it count if I never finished or published it and wasn't really in the fandom? In that case it would be Lucifer, I am just in love with that character (pre season 3) and I have so many ideas, but I've never written anything more than tidbits and brief outlines. Other than that, Tatort Münster. That's the first fandom I was really in and wrote full stories for.

20. Favourite fic you’ve written?

Oof, also a tough one. There are several fics with concepts that I really like, but I think I'll have to say Leer. I got the idea in the evening, wrote through the night and published it the next morning at like 4am. It's the only fic I've written like that, normally I need weeks for one-shots or even single chapters. It was kind of cathartic to write, and I've re-read it a lot.

Thank you everyone for your feedback on the demos! I am very happy you all came to like it. Don't feel discouraged from sending any new feedback though, since it's gonna be awhile until I get back to work (I'm in exam hell 'till mid May), might as well use the time to advantage.

Most of you seem more interested in game/visual novel format, therefore in this post I'll talk about features I mean to implement, or think of implementing. I'll also talk about possible updating schemes (chapter basis vs. all-at-once), let me know what you think about those. For those who won't get intimidated by text, I'll leave some WIPs for artwork at the very end :3

Discussing game features!

Random events Now this is something you've already experienced in the demo, albeit in its rough form. Since I'm planning a kinetic/linear story (aka there won't be a choice system) because writing a branching story is going to kill me, this serves as a sort of replacement. Due to random chance being involved, random events will happen only during "moments of respite", so to speak, when there is no danger and no consequences for the main plot. Random events are mostly "character flavor", additional moments that, if you miss, won't hinder the major story, but they do add fun little details to characterization. This should mitigate possible unfairness while still bringing some replay value to the table. I plan on implementing a scene list, where you can view names of all encountered/unlocked scenes, sort of like achievement list.

Turn based battles This one is more ambitious but not entirely impossible. There are tons of tutorials on battle system in Renpy and even codes already written and running. Battles could be another way to make up for lack of choice system and thus lack of gameplay. Plus, the script outline already features numerous fighting scenes, and given it's VtM, I feel battles could be implemented organically. I'm mostly thinking of watered down Darkest Dungeon, or, if you're hip, Honkai Star Rail. The amount of "water" is yet to be decided, but it should be relatively simple both for me to implement and for you to play through. Don't know if I'll add anything that could be called "leveling up characters" but I am thinking of making battles skippable in options. This is still mostly an idea, and I'll need to make some tests first to see if I'll be able to implement this in actual game.

Updating schemes!

First things first, I'll need to write the entire script. The reason why I don't want to make it chapter basis is, based on my past experience, there's a high chance I'll figure out some changes needed in previous chapters as I work on next ones, so I go back and edit them accordingly. And this works best if I'm writing the full thing back to back, without publishing. Release when it's ready. This should take me a year, give or take, again based on past experience (it's almost the same amount of writing I had to do back then). I understand it's quite long but I don't feel comfortable changing this workflow of mine :(

Now, for actual game development, there are two options:

All-at-once Basically the same as with the script. I develop the entire game and then publish it in one piece. Personally I feel this would work best for me, but it would increase the already big enough wait time to around two years, best case scenario. Probably two and a half, or even three. I understand it's hard to wait that long, which is why there is a second option.

Chapter basis I develop a chapter (insert all the text, art, animation, music, etc.), publish it, then proceed to work on the next one and release it when it gets done and so on. Sort of like game patches. Bendy and the Ink Machine style if you remember that thing. You redownload the project and continue from your last save. This gives me a bit less control but also makes you wait significantly less for main story content.

#2: I don't like tea and other lies Bucky tells himself. Bucky wakes up in a strangers house after passing out on their doorstep after a particularly bad fight. He is resistant to their help but this stranger isn't having it and takes it upon themselves to get his stubborn ass back to the Avengers Tower

#3: This is not a safehouse. The mission goes horridly wrong to no-one's surprise and the safehouse is destroyed. Steve and Bucky follow Natasha to another safehouse, except that it's not and now it's time to meet Natasha's "old friend".

#4: Lessons in apologies and being a disaster by Bucky Barnes Being a superhero is hard and Bucky can't catch a break, he's just trying to get by and start enjoying his life. But a tense encounter with a person he mistakes as a reporter makes his relationship with his new neighbour all the more strenuous that it has to be. It's Sam to the rescue.

#5 An egg for a brain. (I fucking love this one and do intend to continue it.) Bucky is well versed with Murphy's Law but this is one of those times he thinks the world is just out to get him. An accident causes Bucky to lose all his memories except for those from before World War 2. Steve is the only person he knows, he's lost in a modern world that he dreamt of living in, is struggling with the fact he can't remember shit about who he is (everyone is quick to chime in though) and to top it off, he can't seem to face the woman he fell in love with. #6: A Serious Problem It's Tuesday and portals open above New York. Again. The first on the scene is not the Avengers or even any of the other local crime-fighting vigilantes. The first person appears seemingly out of nowhere, brandishing rebar and a fiery attitude. Of all people, it's Spider-Man who they say hi to while sprinting past covered in alien blood.

Stucky - Steve Rogers x Bucky Barnes (my beloved ship omg)

#1: Shit My Soulmate Listens To (The story of how Steve Rogers loses his mind, just a little. (Another one I intend to finish cos it's gonna be so good). It's not that Steve is a snob. Really, he isn't. It's just that he has good taste. And his Soulmate certainly does not. And he swears if he has to hear the same damn song one more time, he's going to punch someone.

#2 Becoming (My post-endgame somewhat fix-it that finally tackles the abandonment of Bucky by Steve). This is a story about heartbreak, grief, healing and self-discovery. Bucky knew that Steve wasn't returning after he put the stones back, but that didn't stop it from it hitting him like a truck. He takes a break from being a superhero, learns to be Bucky Barnes again and learns that some endings are actually beginnings.

#3: Doom. Or how Bucky Barnes got fucked over, lost an arm, went to Hell and came back laughing. (A Marvel and Doom video game crossover) Bucky Barnes has been imprisoned on the Mars UAC facility after defying his CO. He's not imprisoned though, he's a fucking test subject for a squirrely scientist named Arnim Zola whose didn't stop to think about the consequences of messing with Argent energy. After a mysterious explosion destroys the facility and leads to the worst infestation known to man, SHIELD sends the Avengers, a Rapid Response Tactical Squad led by Steve Rogers to gather intel and lock down the facility.

#4: A roommate AU Bucky responds to Steve's ad for a new roommate. It turns out food isn't just good for the soul but a fast track to the heart of the hottest man Bucky has ever met. #5: Atlas Shrugged All eyes are on Steve who frankly does not give a shit. His eyes instead are on the shield, the gaudy thing they insist is his and expect him to pick back up again even thought he doesn't remember a thing about why he picked it up in the first place. Bucky says it was because he's an idiot and never knows what's good for him. But Bucky is the only one who is against him picking it up again. "It's not your job." Bucky had said one night when they both couldn't sleep. His metal hand nursing the bottle of Vodka while he looked downright miserable. Undecided Ship #1: A Marvel and Fallout crossover, staring all the Avengers but my main man, Bucky Barnes The second the platform stops moving, Bucky’s knees buckle and he drops to the ground hard and grasps at his chest. Just like the platform, his breathing has all but stopped, panic setting in.

He gasps and gulps and tears flow quick. In all his years he has never felt desperation and grief as he does right now. All he hears are his own choked sobs on top of the silent hill and it scares him how silent everything is. Anywhere he looks there are signs of death and destruction despite the regrowing nature. Skeletons litter the ground, all the families he had passed on his way to the Vault all those years ago, and all the workers, even the Vault-Tec guy.

Instead of standing, Bucky scrambles over to the dirt around the platform, searching desperately for any signs of footprints, of life.

There are none.

This was the fic I teased awhile ago, with that little snippet. Had alot of issues including switching tenses halfway through and writing an unsatisfactory beginning. Finally decided on an intro I like, and just having issues with pacing and making sure that the reader receives enough knowledge to understand the stakes of the scene, dialogue can be a nightmare.

12. How many WIP’s do you have in your docs for next year?

oof. so, there's a few ways of answering this. there's ones that i have in my docs, and there's ones that will realistically be published.

the structure of pottery shards is already set. it's going to be three multichapter narrative fics, and i have at least five character studies asides (sam, steve, bucky, tony, and luke, may do more if the need arises) planned that also reveal events that don't fit into the limited POV of the multi chapter narrative (like, the background accords drama going on right now--the brunt of it is luke's and tony's story to tell, but it would be a huge narrative divergence from the focus of kintsugi, and there really isn't a good alternative POV to relay the events otherwise. so, most of it will be character study based, but it'll be filtered through some relevant events). the first step of kintsugi is like, relatively close to being finished? I wanna say it's 2/3rds there. so we have seven works lined up the barrel for pottery shards. I want to say realistically we're probably going to get through kintsugi, 3-4 character studies, and start on the second multi chapter fic in the upcoming year. so 4-5 WIPs from the pottery shards verse.

the lisa castle series has 3 narrative installments that will almost definitely get out in the next year. I can't decide if i want to end it on the 4th or go for a 5th, so that may be put on pause because i'm deciding where to take it still. ~3 WIPs from the hells verse.

i want to finish it's not a whore HOUSE it's a whore HOME series and get it off my docket. it's just got one WIP before it's done. so 1 here.

i have at least 2 from the acts of contrition verse, one is almost definitely going to go out in the next year. ~1 here.

I really want to start the Peter Parker Roommates AU, which won't be a series, once some of these wrap up, so probably one entirely new project that would be started. 1 WIP.

So, realistically, we're talking about 10-11 WIPs of varying lengths. Some of them are gonna be pretty short, some of them are gonna be multichapters that are at least started in the next year.

If the question is how many WIPs do I have in my google drive that have at least a page of writing and have been plotted in their entirety or close to, the answer turns into 41.

ooooh that's a hard one. i think i'd probably go with this:

He’ll never tell a single soul, and that will be that. Can’t steal candy from a baby if the baby’s hidden it. No one can take advantage, because no one knows there’s anything to take advantage of. 

There’s Stick.

not really sure why. I feel like there's a kind of bitter callousness to the internal monologue that i deeply vibe with. i really like the line of the "making oil so another rich fuck can dig it up." and then just having the line be "there's stick," because, like--in glaze defects, we don't really see what stick does to him. we see the effects, but the most we get of stick himself is like, one sentence. stick's a horrendous thing that happened to matt, but in his own internal reflection, he's entirely absent compared to what matt perceives as his own failings. I just like the vibe.
