Given that my post about why you are not obligated to blog about Current Events (whatever they are at any given time) is going around again, I'd like to say the same thing from a slightly different angle and state what you ARE obligated to do.
You are still not obligated to blog about ANY specific subject, no matter how serious, no matter how urgent, no matter how grave. You never will be. The impact of social media on real world atrocities has the potential to be great, but it is cumulative. No one is going to die in a ditch somewhere, barely uttering the tragic final words, "if only...if only...tumblr users wormhentaiafficionado and mothmanbutthole...posted about how sad they are...then maybe things would be different..." - nor are policymakers going to change their minds because some tweet has 749,845 cumulative likes and retweets instead of 750,000. Make no mistake, if you have the energy to be sharing these kinds of things, it can be good to do! We live in a society, it's always good to help where you can, even if all you can do is show public support for people who are hurting - but if you can't do that, for any reason, you're not obligated to. Period. End of.
What are you obligated to do?
1. Give people the benefit of the doubt. Social media accounts are not most people's entire lives. Just because someone isn't blogging about whatever tragedy is occurring does not mean they don't care. Sometimes it does mean that, sure, and that sucks - but not only are you not going to change that by yelling at them, sometimes it means they care too much. Sometimes it means they're closer to it than you assumed and need a moment to think about something else, anything else. Sometimes it means it's not safe for them to be blogging about it, be it due to abusive family potentially finding out, being at risk of getting fired and quite possibly dying of poverty sooner rather than later, or even taking very illegal direct action that they do not want to be linked to on record in even the vaguest possible way. Sometimes it means dealing with it is their day job and they're on the internet after a long and exhausting day of trying to make things better. You don't know. You'll never know unless they decide to tell you. No one owes you that explanation. You are obligated to make peace with that fact.
2. Slow the fuck down.
Listen. When bad things happen, from natural disasters, to manmade horrors beyond our comprehension, it's only normal to get scared and desperate to do something, anything about it. That heightened emotional state is very vulnerable, and because of that, there will always be people out there looking to take advantage of the chaos for ulterior motives - and no matter how good your intentions, and in fact no matter how right you are in your values and at the core of your strategy, you will never be immune to garbage-in-garbage-out. Misinformation can be deadly, even in the hands of someone who means well. You need to pause long enough to sort out the garbage. You need to learn to fight the impulse to trust every single post that tells you that your share/comment/etc. is URGENT and WILL mean the difference between life and death for someone, somewhere. Do your fact checks. Scan for dogwhistles before you end up passing around a post that implies [insert group that is marginalized in most of the English-speaking world but has hegemonic power in some other part of the world and is committing some atrocity there] is coming after you next if you stay silent. Vet charity and advice links before you accidentally send scared, desperate, and vulnerable people to a scammer - or worse, hand them over to a honeypot operation or give them a recipe for poisonous "medicine".
Or, to put it another way, you are obligated to make an attempt to stay informed enough to avoid making things materially worse. You are not obligated to doomblog. In fact, doomblogging can be antithetical to your obligation to not make things worse. Choosing neutrality in times of great tragedy and injustice is bad, yes, but you should immediately be wary of anyone who says that simply not blogging about a subject - let alone not sharing a specific post - is inherently "choosing neutrality".
So remember: breathe. Be careful out there. Mourn for the people that whatever atrocity has this or my other post circulating has taken from us or will take from us, and do your best to be kind to the people who are still alive - and remember that kindness includes using social media responsibly.

Yuu: So, who are you then? Malleus: Do you truly not know? Yuu: Hm, could you be a Leo? A Lawrence or a Lloyd? Yuu: Maybe you’re a Philbert or a Felix or a Flyod. Yuu: Perhaps your name is Boris? Boragard or Bill? No? Yuu: Maybe it’s Jaja—Victoria or Jill? Oh! Yuu: You could be a Digby or a Dillion, or Abu? Yuu: How about a Matthew or a Morris or a Stu? Yuu: Maybe you’re a Sigfrued or a James? Yuu: No, wait a minute! The answer’s in my brain I got it now! Oh, hocus pous! Rumpelstiltskin is your name! Malleus: Not even close. Yuu: What, seriously? Darn, I woulda bet money on that… Hmm, okay, how about Kazuki Kato? Malleus: Definitely not.

THE ONE SOULMATE ASK IS MAKING ME BUZZ IN MY SEAT, imagine the one soulmate universe where your soulmate’s signature appears on your arm.
Like as a child you remember seeing “Ajax” written in a messy handwriting, one that always made you giggle when you saw it.
You knew the name was Snezhnayan, your parents having told you so. You often heard stories about Snezhnaya and the people from the nation, always curious what this Ajax would be like.
But one day it changed, not in the way you expected. You knew that the mark would change overtime to match your partner’s signature, but it didn’t change like that. One day you just woke up and your arm said Ajax and a second name.
You couldn’t read the name, it was in a language you didn’t recognize, only later in life learned it was Abyssal. You never understood why a second name, in Abyss, appeared on your arm or why Ajax’s signature eventually changed to Tartaglia.
It wasn’t until you finally got the funds to travel to Snezhnaya and eventually met Ajax that he could explain things.
It was awkward, the Harbinger stumbling over his words for the first time in years until he sighed and showed you Foul Legacy. You were scared at first, the Abyssal creature curiously sniffing you and trilling at you. You calmed when it saw the writings on your wrist, happily crooning as it showed your it’s own arm, your name written in a pale white so it could show up on the creature’s arm.
rambled for a bit too long but I JSUT OUGHHH had to get all my thoughts out, i hope i dont mind 🙏🙏🙏😭😭 (also will be forever upset that when I bought the genshin art book IT SIDNT COME WITH THE SIGNED CARD FROM TART) [📺]
THIS THIS IS SO BEAUTIFUL OH MY GOODNESS I LOVE IT
oh oh OH but could you imagine Ajax's reaction? when he first acquires Foul Legacy he's absolutely terrified of what his soulmate's reaction will be to his Abyssal side- he wouldn't be surprised if you screamed and ran away when he eventually met you. he knows his soulmate is probably concerned enough by the name change- what would you think if you found out he was not only a Fatuus, but also harboring a bloodthirsty monster from the Abyss? so for the longest time he hides his arm from Foul Legacy, focusing on working up the ranks of the Fatui until he becomes a Harbinger. he never understands why Legacy becomes so excited if he even so much as glimpse's Ajax's arm from inside his mind, chirping and chittering and urging him to show the name- Abyssal creatures don't have soulmates
right?
one day he's training in his Foul Legacy form, the beast allowing him to manipulate his stronger, armored body as usual when Ajax happens to glance down at his wrist. suddenly he gasps, everything but the arm vanishing back into his own mortal body out of shock as he stares at the name written in shining silver, identical to the one on his own skin. the armor dissipates into stars, leaving Ajax staring at the same name on his arm, the black ink standing out on his pale, freckled skin. Foul Legacy purrs soothingly in his mind, reassuring him that it's alright, he doesn't blame Ajax for wanting to keep his soulmate hidden from the Abyss, and Ajax wants nothing more than to give the monster a big, apologetic hug
when you finally manage to get to Snezhnaya and meet Ajax, staring firmly into his eyes, he's pleased to see that there are not one, but two names on your wrist; his own and one written in a script he recognizes but can't understand, and in his head Foul Legacy's singing, trills sounding similar to "that's me! that's my name!", and Ajax grins at you with the first genuine smile he's had in years

crying about "even if i knew for certain, i wouldn't change a day." on a saturday night because that moment is soooo layered. not just mulder calling scully by her first name, not just the fact that he is asking her about the possibility that they've known each other in countless lifetimes before, but the fact that scully takes him so seriously. she doesn't scoff or roll her eyes or say "mulder, that's ridiculous." like she would about any other outlandish idea he would have. if there is one thing she can put her rationality aside it's for the notion that mulder is her person and always has been and always will be.

Fine, I'll admit it. With long hair...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
He's very attractive. He really is.
But, he's a harebrained trend chaser, who will butcher his good looks for fickle fashion.
He also looks like he should be wearing a kilt, not a cloak. Because of the long red hair, not David's nationality.

Please take a moment to imagine with me:
Mario and Peach sneaking out together in the dead of night. It’s dark and quiet and everyone is asleep, so they keep their voices down at first. But eventually they’re running hand-in-hand, giggling and almost tripping over their feet in excitement, rushing through empty streets or open fields on their way to who-knows-where.
All of their worries and responsibilities can wait until morning. Right now, they’re alone in the world, and they’re going to take full advantage of that.

One major implication I don't think that episode really took the time to settle on is the implication that the Toymaker has already massively messed up the universe?
Toymaker: I came to this universe with such delight. And I played them all, Doctor. I toyed with supernovas, turned galaxies into spin tops. I gambled with God and made him a jack-in-the-box. Toymaker: I made a jigsaw out of your history... did you like it? Toymaker: The Master was dying and begged for his life with one final game, and when he lost, I sealed him for all eternity within my gold tooth.
And later:
Toymaker: Do you think a grand total of two can cause me to shiver when I've played against the Guardians of Time and Space and shrank them into voodoo dolls?
So to summarise:
It's implied the universe is now even more destroyed by the Toymaker's reality warping. Granted we don't know what the scale of this is, unlike the Flux, but it's possibly proportionally quite big considering how little of the universe is left already? That being said, he could have done this in history before the Flux, since it was a linear event, in which case this is far less of an issue.
That being said, it's likely this was reversed by the Toymaker being banished - so we're probably not going to see galaxy-sized spin-tops in the future. How many people died, and if they come back however, is less clear.
The Master (presumably dying after POTD), and the Black and White Guardians (at least - possibly the other 3 guardians too, excluding the Toymaker - though they're the main ones, and it's "order and chaos" specifically which are mentioned in the episode) have all gamed with the Toymaker and lost. The tooth!Master is at least left in our universe, and may possibly be secure with UNIT. The fate of the Guardians is a bit less clear, as is the implications for the balance of the universe.
But perhaps the biggest thing, and the one the episode actually took the time to give us a confused 14 reaction shot to:
The Toymaker has a made a 'jigsaw' out of the Doctor's history (or maybe history in general, although he does say 'your').
So what does that mean?
The hint is that the Doctor has already experienced whatever it is... so what was it that he caused with his interference?
To me there's perhaps three possible options:
The Star Beast - this would be an oddly minor thing to refer to, but arguably makes the most sense in the 'arc' of the specials. Perhaps he's referring to the Doctor encountering Beep the Meep for the first time again? ie. taken one jigsaw piece and exchanged its position in his timeline. For now this might be my headcanon regarding it, but would be really odd to be the intention, especially since we're already disregarding most of the other appearances of the Toymaker in the EU? It's also of course not the first time we've had an adaptation of an EU story in the main show without referencing the original (the no. 1 example being Human Nature - there are others like The Lodger and Dalek, but they're different enough that they can co-exist in a continuity with their source material).
The Timeless Child / Fugitive Doctor - RTD has said he's not going retcon the arc, but this arguably makes the most sense as a 'puzzle' being made out of the Doctor's history? Especially with regards to the Fugitive Doctor anyway, given there's the additional complications of her a) being the "Doctor", b) having a Police Box TARDIS, yet c) seemingly being from around the time of the Anchoring of the Thread.
The Toymaker's being time-wimey, it hasn't happened yet / it's nothing in particular - While it would be a bit confusing to contradict the one detail we got in the episode, this is always a possibility too. After all, there was a lot of sequel hooking all across these specials, so it might be something RTD will come back to, especially if we are going to be seeing more of the past Doctors in future series? Hopefully not by the biregeneration theory he gave about them all being split retroactively, because that is literally insane and doesn't even make the little sense the 14-15 one does....wtf.
So overall, what do I think?
Well I think I can be somewhat forgiving with the damage to the rest of the universe, just because it's implied that it might be reset, and the scale/lethality was never established. Plus like I said, there is some justification to the proportional issue not being too bad when combined with the Flux.
The Black and White Guardians implication is... interesting. We are gradually building up more and more of those 'Great Old One' / pre-universe elements in (New)NewWho, so there's a good chance this could come back in the future. It probably won't have immediate effects on the universe, as the Guardians seemed to be more concerned with specific dangers like the Key to Time. It could perhaps lead to more Eternals popping up across the universe, given the Guardians were the only force they really answered to. RTD I think is also quite aware of some of the Eternal-type lore too, since he played around with it quite a bit in those Series 1 articles talking about the Time War.
The Master's obviously coming back and as silly as this was, it does at least justify him being alive after POTD. It actually opens up the possibility of seeing Dhawan himself again too, which would be great! The nail-polished hand picking it up felt like a bit of a trolling moment, after how underwelming all the theories of who did it were when the End of Time came along. Someone pointed out that Kate actually has the same nail-polish, which would be interesting. Perhaps when we next see the Master, they'll be in UNIT captivity, Delgado style?
Finally, the jigsaw line, which is possibly the most interesting. Originally I was going to lean towards this being nothing / a vague setup for future past-Doctor stuff, since that seems to be the default, but now that I've laid it out... I think this could be a setup for more Fugitive!Doctor appearances. It makes the most sense from a story perspective anyway, given what the Toymaker said and some of the questions surrounding her not being answered, whether or not it's the direction the franchise would actually want to go.
After all, as controversial as the Timeless Child lore was, as far as I'm aware Jo Martin was pretty well recieved, and I'm sure RTD would love to look for opportunities to do more with her somehow. Whether he'd want something so continuity dependent from a showrunning perspective, however, is a bit more questionable.

Been trying my very best to not talk about the Timeless Child but I hate myself and enough time as passed so this post will be buried but why does the Doctor say they were abandoned?
DOCTOR: I'm adopted. RUBY: Are you? DOCTOR: Yeah, yeah. I, er... I only found out recently. CARLA: That's a coincidence. RUBY: Oh, don't be saying that! CARLA: So do you know who your parents are? DOCTOR: No, no, I was... I was abandoned. CARLA: Oh, you were a foundling, just like Ruby. Even bigger coincidence.
It's an obvious attempt to make Ruby and the Doctor parallel but it feels a bit... conflicting? In not a fun way either due to how the Doctor not knowing why the Child was in that very spot when Tecteun found them was the biggest point of tension between them:
DOCTOR: You assumed I came through that wormhole, but you don't know. What if I was waiting there to collected? What if I was supposed to be taken through it? What if whoever left me there was taken by that wormhole? TECTEUN: What if, what if, what if? DOCTOR: You denied me my life! TECTEUN: I gave you a life. Everything you are is because of me. But I understand. You think you could have been something else, someone else. DOCTOR: Maybe. I'll never know. TECTEUN: You judge me for giving you the journey of your lifetime
Going with the word 'abandoned' seems to be pushing more weight to the life the Child had before being found than to the life they had with the Time Lords and Tecteun. The Timeless Child is a story about adoption but it's also a story about medical abuse. It feels it's trying to hide the second part.
BUT I know that in the alternative timeline, there's an attempt to compare Carla to Tecteun which is baffling?
CARLA: I've never had children, mate. DOCTOR: No. You adopted her. CARLA: I foster. Now don't be so stupid. I'm a foster mother. Just do it now and then, that's all. I've had about five or six kids. DOCTOR: No, no, no, no. You had… They've gone. CARLA: Who has? DOCTOR: Your children. All those lives. You fostered 33. CARLA: How many? Not me, darling. Don't be so stupid. That's too much like hard work. No way. I just put my name on the list when I need a bit of money. DOCTOR: No, you don't. CARLA: Eight hundred quid per child. DOCTOR: Don't say that.
Are we really comparing Tecteun, a woman who clearly had a high position in an advanced society to Carla, who seems to be a woman from a working class background? Are we really doing that? She could've just not been a foster mum and it would still work. We didn't have to go the 'lower class person uses adoption for monetary bonuses' route.
Ugh.

I'm working on a kidlaw thing now where Kidd's the owner of a fashion conglomerate called Victoria Punk. They met in the flagship store and they flirt, yadda yadda whatever—that's not important. What is though, is how I immediately thought of how the Ace and Sabo would get involved in the (luxury) fashion industry since they're my favs alongside Kidd. Here's my takes lmao
Ace would own a shoe store. He sells a pretty small but reliable and beautiful collection of leather shoes and boots. As an athlete and hitchhiker, he understands the need for footwear that's durable, comfortable and fashionable. Since his target demographic are fellow hitchhikers who do insane shit outdoors, his shoes are good quality. They will live through avalanches, snowstorms, cyclones, rocky mountains, swamps—whatever—and the most you'd need to do is replace the laces. Aesthetically-speaking, they're plain, but if you're into the look of sturdy leather that smells wonderful (like me), his stuff is perfect for you.
I say this because I'm currently imagining Ace helping Law try the shoes on like he would delicately slip them on Law's feet like a princess and tie his laces for him. He would look up at Law and smile when he sees that Law feels very comfortable in these shoes.
Gah! The intimacy!
For funsies, he makes Law try on those high, knee-length boots and gets very turned on because Law has legs for days. It's like a kink of his now and he gets esp turned on seeing that.
For Sabo, I can't decide between a watch shop or a (pawn) jewellery store. Either way, I want him to be very involved with people, as in he would sit there and admire little intricate things with his clients. He loves listening to what customers like and helping them find what they're looking for. Rather than for practical purposes like Ace, Sabo's more interested in sentimental values. He's not interested in just a pretty watch or a pretty ring— he wants to help clients find the perfect watch for their children to pass down to their grandchildren; he wants to help clients find the perfect engagement ring for their loved ones. He's into the storytelling aspect of luxury marketing.
If we're talking Sabolaw, then maybe Law walks into Sabo's little run down store one day and asks if Sabo could help fix an heirloom from Corazon. Sabo agrees for a small fee and from there they talk about the thing itself, and then onto what Sabo does, and then what Law does. Amongst this heart to heart, they look at each other and go. oh.
I enjoy this person very much. (edit: I wrote more on Sabolaw here)
