First drawing was made in 2021, the second in 2022. This is exploring an au where Padme Amidala was togrutan instead of human. 

Padme’s face markings changed a little between versions as I wasn’t quite happy with the original. Her montrals and lekku are inspired by her funeral gown because the prevalence of sadness in Padme’s life is a interesting concept to explore. (Left of second drawing) I'm curious if a togrutan Padme would were a cooler tone sunset dress or would she keep the warm tones. I think her full queen face up would be fairly similar to how it looks in the movies ( hard to keep your identity as queen separate with such identifying markings without totally covering up) but I imagine she would have more relaxed versions of the queens look as she transitions into a senator. (Top right of second drawing) Padme living and taking care of her children means so much to me. I also explored the idea of half-togrutan Leia and Luke. Leia’s marking are inspired by the rebellion symbol and her lekku are inspired by descriptions of Alderann’s mountains. Since she's in her celebration gown I also paired her with some tasteful akul teeth jewelry because Leia knows how to mark victories. Luke's lekku are much more toned down inspired by Tatooine's sands with simple wrappings in line with Tatooine pratical fashion. He has twin markings with Leia but also has some elements of Padme’s markings because I always thought Luke resembled Padme more than Anakin.

thinking about togruta!anakin and how fucked up that would make things, canon-wise. like,,,,togrutas have unique markings (or so i like to believe) on their lekku, montrals and faces. even after getting burnt to a crisp, im guessing anakin's would still be somewhat recognizeable (or if they weren't you would still be able to tell that vader was not human)

people would be able to tell that's him under the mask, eventually, because what are the fucking chances? and it wouldn't be wise for him to completely cover them with armour because good luck with hearing and sensing stuff.

but, most importantly, luke and leia would know they're somewhat related because honestly,,,,two half human-half togruta young adults around the same age who happen to have identical face markings and very similar lekku/montrals? there arent many explanations lol

and luke, noticing swirls he knows like the back of his hand beneath vader's charred skin? he would know.

i'd totally love to expand on this one day, especially on the additional damage made by lava to anakin's nervous system contained in his montrals lololol

— you are one of the first young force users luke manages to recruit for his new jedi order after the empire's defeat - even if he doesn't actually mean to find you.

— during his quest to find children blessed with the force around the galaxy, the togruta's home planet of shili is one of his first stops, and it's there he finds you. you're an orphan with nowhere to go and no one to take you in, stealing what you can to be able to afford food and making your home in an abandoned warehouse in the city, all the while trying to hide the odd ability to move things with your mind you've always had - the ability your parents, when they were alive, always told you you had to hide for fear of the empire coming after you.

— but your parents are gone now, and the warnings they gave you when you were younger aren't enough to stop you from trying to steal luke's lightsaber as he walks down the street by levitating away from him. of course, it doesn't quite work, as luke can sense your use of the force, and the lightsaber doesn't even make it all the way out of its holster before luke is grabbing it out of the air and turning to lock eyes with you, somehow knowing exactly where you are despite the fact that you've hidden yourself in the shadows of an alley.

— you're absolutely terrified you're about to be beaten or hauled off to prison, but to your surprise, all this strange man asks you is how long you've been able to do things like that, and if you're able to do other things, like sensing a particular air around people or being able to influence people's minds to be more agreeable with what you want.

— when he tells you that he understands, that he can do that as well, and that if you would like to learn how to develop these abilities, you can come with him and be a part of the new jedi order, you finally realize who he is: luke skywalker, the man who saved the galaxy from the empire's rule and, though he's clearly not the last remaining force user, the last remaining jedi.

— you're completely shocked that the savior of the galaxy is even interacting with you, a togruta orphan thief, much less that he's saying you have special powers and offering to train you as a jedi. but what can you do but accept? this may be your only chance to get off the streets of shili, your only chance to actually make something of yourself.

— by the end of the day, you and luke have boarded his ship and are flying away from the only home you've ever known, the place where you were born and where you lost your parents to sickness, where you had to scrounge in the back alleys and steal and fight for scraps to survive.

— shili will always hold a lot of memories for you, both good and painful, but you find that you're happy to be leaving it behind, to start embracing your purpose as a force user and becoming one of the galaxy's new jedi saviors.

— it isn't long before the two of you have been to illum to get your kyber crystal, and before you know it, you have your very own lightsaber and are ready to officially begin your jedi training.

— it isn't the easiest process - much like luke's father, you've started your training much later than the younglings of old, but thankfully your species are one of the galaxy's strongest in the force, so it isn't long before your control and fighting skills have greatly improved.

— but even better than these newfound skills and control is the bond you start to develop with your master.

— luke isn't always the most patient teacher - unbeknownst to him, a skywalker trait - but he is understanding of your feelings and struggles, and completely dedicated to helping you become the best jedi you can be. even as the two of you continue to travel around looking for more students for his jedi school, luke's primary focus remains training you, the first padawan he's ever had.

— of course, luke has little idea of the jedi's former pattern of masters and padawans forming familial-like bonds, having only been trained for a short while by both obi-wan and yoda, so when he finds himself starting to see you as something of his child, to want to protect you and make sure you were always safe and happy, it comes as a pretty big shock... but not an unwelcome one.

— and over time, you start to see luke as a parental figure as well.

— he always does his best to take care of you and make you feel good about yourself, he always takes the time to talk to you and provide comfort if you need it, and though your situations aren't quite the same, he does understand being a child without parents, and he'll always stay up at night with you to talk if you're missing your parents more than usual.

— after you lost your parents, you'd given up hope of ever having a father again, but as time goes on, you start to feel like luke might be the closest thing you'll have to getting another one.

— but neither of you are quite ready to voice these feelings for a while - not until one night almost two years into your training, when the two of you are taking advantage of a quiet night on ossus to sit on the roof of the new jedi academy and watch the star-filled sky.

— the whole thing is incredibly calming, and you've already had a bit of a long day, so eventually, you lean against luke's side and rest your head on his shoulder, your lekku dangling over his shoulder, and with your filter crumbled into dust by the pull of sleep, you finally mumble the words you've been thinking for months now.

— "thank you, luke. for saving me, and for being my mentor, and for being my... my father."

— you drift off into the comforting darkness of sleep almost immediately after speaking, so you miss the shocked look luke gives you that eventually spreads into a soft, loving smile, and you especially miss the small kiss luke plants on top of your head, and the whispered words that, though he'll make sure to repeat them to you tomorrow morning, he feels he needs to say now.

— "you're welcome, padawan. and thank you for being my child."

Luke stood in front of an old Clone Wars base. Something in the Force beckoned him closer.

"Hello?" Luke called, walking into the dark hanger. He could see old republic ships, in varying states of disrepair.

Something fell, Luke spun around to meet a blaster. His hands shot up.

"I'm sorry- I was searching for fuel-" it wasn't a lie, his X-wing was running low. Artoo hadn't shut up for the last couple of lightyears.

The stranger didn't listen. They were too busy staring.

"Who are you?" they asked, scarily calm.

"My name is Luke, what's yours?" Luke answered, he disliked being on this side of a blaster.

His captor seemed to keep staring, "Ahsoka. Why are you here? Don't you know the fuel here would not be usable?"

Luke nearly facepalmed, "Blast- I didn't think of that-"

Ahsoka seemed to find that funny, as they seemed to laugh a bit.

"I should have some fuel for you, Luke. My friends and I have been stockpiling for quite a while, so we have planty to share. But first, I must ask if you are a threat." Ahsoka seemed slightly paranoid.

"I swear I am not a threat. I just need fuel, my droid won't stop yelling at me," Luke chuckled. Ahsoka found that funny, funny enough to put the blaster down.

Ahsoka lit a flashlight, aiming it down. Luke could finally identify what species he was facing.

"You're a- a togruta? Weren't you all-" Luke stammered.

"Wiped out after the Clone War? Almost. I'm one of few left." Ahsoka smiled, sadness blooming from her Force presence. Wait.

"Hold on. Are you-"

"Force sensitive? Yes, it took you a while to realize. Who trained you?" Ahsoka tilted her head.

"At first, a little, Ben. Then Yoda. Since then, it's been me." Luke frowned, his father had wanted to train him, but given that his father was recovering from being a Sith-

"Ben? I am unfamiliar with him. What's his last name?" Ahsoka asked.

"Kenobi. What's your last name?" Luke asked.

"Ah, you were partially trained by Obi-wan, I see. I was trained by Obi-wan's apprentice. My last name is Tano. And yours, Luke? You remind me of my old master."

"My name is Luke Skywalker. Who was your master?" Luke asked. Ahsoka started to walk, beckoning him to follow.

"Why, my master was your father. Anakin Skywalker." Ahsoka held open a door. Behind it was warm light and the sound of laughter.

Luke stepped through the door, and in front of him was a group of older men in old clone armor. They paused, looking at him.

"Commander?" one said, standing slowly.

Ahsoka came in behind Luke, "Rex, this is Luke Skywalker. Anakin's son. Luke, meet what's left of the 501st battalion, served the Clone War under the command of Anakin Skywalker, Obi-wan Kenobi, and Ahsoka Tano."

Miscellaneous Star Wars headcanons :3

Ahsoka grows to be taller than Anakin (yes Anakin is offended by this)

Anakin’s first language isn’t Basic (its not even his second its like 4th. Outer Rim folk don’t speak a lotta Basic)

Tatooine is like Australia, Colombia and Texas combined SO the accent is Australian, Colombian and Texan combined. Luke’s Tatooine accent leans harder on the Texan side. He says howdy :)

Leia studied former politicians from the Pre-Empire days (because Bail wants his girl to be EDUCATED) and accidentally ends up learning a little about Padmé.

Leia’s first words would’ve been mama if Padmé and Anakin had gotten to raise their child

Luke felt isolated as a kid, even though he was very social. Partly because kids found him weird, partly because ‘Skywalker’ is a slave name.

Obi Wan doesn’t find it gross that Anakin eats bugs, he finds it gross Anakin eats RAW UNSEASONED bugs. So uncivilised

The Clones on Kamino have hug piles. (They need comfort ok)

Rex cries a lot in private.

Even though Aalya and Luminara are a few years older than Anakin, Anakin befriended them really quickly became friends :)

Canonically Anakin is a really good artist but doesn’t show people SOOOOooo the headcanon is Obi Wan finds a sketch of him one day by Anakin while cleaning up after Anakin’s mess in his room and loves it so much he hands it in how own room.

Padmé proposed to Anakin

Padmé gets just as jealous as Anakin, she’s just not as melodramatic and can destroy people with words

Anakin smokes from time to time (don’t tell Obi Wan or Padmé they will kill him)

Obi Wan had 0 spice tolerance before living on Tatooine and had to build it up when he started living there

Anakin, Leia and Luke are all autistic

Han is surprisingly good at mingling with ‘the higher ups’ during politics dinners/parties with Leia

Shmii was a lil bit Force sensitive and helped shield Anakin when he was little

Padmé experienced prenatal depression and didn’t tell Anakin. Or anyone.

Shmii and Anakin couldn’t write and Anakin only knew how to read a few words. Anakin learnt when he was taken to the temple

Togruta’s yawns like a snake. When Ahsoka yawned infront of Rex for the first time his soul left his body

Yoda hunts frogs in the ponds within the Temple. Little Dooku saw him donit once. No one believed him

Owen mumbles to Cleigg and Shmii while he works like they’re still alive and with him

Shmii would tell Owen tales of what Anakin was like

Both Leia and Anakin make attempts to befriend any droids they meet. Its polite :)

Luke would dig for bugs with Beru and they’d pan fry them for dinner

Vader heard so much gossip because officers and stormtroopers just assumed he wasn’t listening to their whispering.

Ahsoka is banned from any and all kitchens because she burns 99.99% of everything she cooks

Shaak Ti had to babysit lil Anakin once and found him delightfully courious

Anakin swears in Hutesse to get away with it infront of Ahsoka. Ahsoka figures it out and starts repeating after him.

Anakin is banned from 501st game nights because he’s too competitive

Obi Wan experienced really bad nightmares after Qui Gon’s death for months

Anakin thrives in disfunction

Leia never really allowed herself to properly mourn her parents. Breha and Bail always plagued her mind.

Ask Ben Solo

What’s up, HoloNet! The name’s Ben. Currently 23 years old. I’m the only son of an Alderaanian princess and a Corellian scoundrel, and I have an adopted sister named Rey.

I started this blog when I was fifteen and afraid of becoming a Jedi. To make things worse, I started hearing voices in my head…voices that turned out to be someone who wanted to control me. Luckily, my friends and family got involved, and Snoke seems to have backed off.

I did make friends with some of Uncle Luke’s Jedi students, but I ended up attending the University of Naboo (Go Shaaks!) and got my degree in Journalism, since I’ve always been interested in writing, history, and politics. (Scroll back enough, and you’ll see my cringe pro-Imperial phase from back in the day. Yikes.)

I stayed on Naboo after graduation, and now I write for The Chommell Sector Daily. In my free time I lift weights, write poetry, and fight with people online.

On the subject of Lightsabers:

I have lightsaber references! All on heroforge obviously, because I cannot draw blades, and with notes that mark their most distinguishing trait. SOme of these are colors, others are blade type, it really just depends on the most interesting thing about the blade. I'll put notes on how they differ from how they look in the AU in the notes, because obviously Heroforge only has so many blade options and they don't all look exactly like I see them in my mind. Enjoy!

The Disaster Trio

Obi has a sword and shield because Soresu is a defensive form. His shield and the crossbar of his sword are both based on the crest of the Jedi Order. In AU Canon, this is more obvious.

Ahsoka has twin daggers because her fighting style is highly acrobatic, and full length swords would make that... rather dangerous; to save space I only put one of the pair. In season 7, Anakin replaces the Kyber Crystals in her original daggers, so they are technically the same daggers but now they burn the same blue as his saber.

Anakin's sword is a dual-handed greatsword, because his form is very aggressive and relies a lot on hacking away at your opponent and physically overpowering them. Also something something dual-edged sword, something something foreshadowing.

Male Jedi

Kit's flame is less a flame and more of watery magic. This is because he is of an aquatic race, and I thought it was cool :D

Yoda has a rapier because his form is very acrobatic and rapiers lend well to that.

Not going to lie, I struggled with Ki-Adi's saber, so I made his really unique in that his blade is darker than the flame that burns by a drastic amount.

MACE okay so. My guy has an executioner sword, because he is the Arbiter Of Justice (tm). Also, these kinds of swords have blunted ends and aren't meant to be used in combat, meaning that for Mace to actually use it as a weapon he needs incredible skill. Which he has. I love Mace Windu :D

Lady Jedi

Shaak's blade is supposed to be wavy like Ahsoka's daggers; wavy blades are a symbol of the Togruta in this AU. However, Heroforge didn't have any good options for this >:(

Barriss's and Luminara's swords have hilts made of Mirialan metalwork- Mirialan metal is fired with special potions that turn it special shades of red and green and gold. It is almost as valued as Mandalorian stained glass in the Galactic Archipelago. If you look closely, the little you can see of Luminara's bracers is also made of Mirialan metalwork.

THE DARKSABER okay so it has lightning instead of a flame because I wanted to replicate those crackles that it has. Anyway I think it looks really cool :D Also the serrated edge? *chef's kiss*

Dooku's saber is a rapier because it's the Gentleman's Fire Sword. However it does not look exactly like this in AU canon; I have a Dooku drawing ref in the works and when I post that I can explain it better. Also it is modeled on Yoda's because I really want to play up that Fallen Jedi Angst >:)

Ventress's sickles (much like Ahsoka, I only put one here to save space) is highly based on her Nightsister heritage. Even when she was a Padawan, I think she had that inspiration in her Jedi blade. Their blades are shaped like moons, and even her force signature is tinged with Nightsister Green (because her dark side powers also incorporate Nightsister Magick; if they didn't, they'd be pure blood-red, because it's important to me for Lore Reasons (tm) that while Jedi can have this whole array of colors, Sith all have the same shade of red).

Original Trilogy Bois

Luke's green force signature is tinged with blue because I will always associate Luke Skywalker with blue. Don't ask me why. But Luke is BLUE and I will DIE ON THIS HILL. FIGHT ME.

Vader's saber is based on his greatsword from when he was Anakin, because I think he got attatched to the design. Also because I want that visual motif of "Anakin is still buried in there" because I am a sucker for symbolism and metaphors. But you know that already ;)

I don't have Anakin's original (and by original i mean like his umpteenth) saber, AKA Luke's first saber, because it's basically the same as we saw earlier, and these swords were TIME CONSUMING to render. However, I will note that the very tips of the flames on that saber begin to be tinged with sith red because of the atrocities Anakin committed with it. Someday I'll have a picture of it for you and you'll see what I mean

I don't have Old Obi's either, because again, TIME. CONSUMING. TO. RENDER. But it's basically the same as it was in the Clone Wars, just more corroded because my man was living in the desert.

If I cared enough to make Palpatation's saber (see i call him that because he gives me heart palpitations of rage) it would be here. But I do not. So it is not

Things I love about Ahsoka Ep. 7: Dreams and Madness

All I see is Anakin making video diaries and tutorials for his little sister. We hadn’t hear him say it, but he absolutely loves her and cares a lot for her. The question now is, how the hell did she get hold of those holo-recordings? Also, we need to see all 20 of them. I also think she had probs shown it to Luke and Leia at some point.

Thrawn, internally: What? No. That togruta bitch was trained by Anakin fucking Skywalker?! Omfg, this changes things.

So, a little background, Thrawn had always admired Anakin Skywalker and had worked alongside him since the clone wars, then as Darth Vader during the empire era. And to put it on modern terms, Thrawn was his biggest fan. He knows how powerful Anakin was and what he was capable of doing. So knowing that Anakin taught Ahsoka is information that could either make him or break him.

His reaction is the most Ezra thing ever. Obviously, he didn't expected Ahsoka to take on Sabine as her padawan considering she isn't force-sensitive. And Ezra is literally all of us when when we first watched the show, btw.

It’s natural for the master and padawan to have a bond through the Force, regardless if jedi or sith. But with Sabine’s lack of force-sensitivity, this was something I did not expect. But nevertheless, I’m extremely happy about it.

We all know Ezra and Sabine go way back. They’ve been friends for a long time, they radiate chaotic sibling energy (sorry, sabezra/ezrabine shippers), even to the point of arguing while fighting for their lives. It's good to see that some things haven't changed.

The last time these two met each other was in the World between Worlds, after Ezra saved Ahsoka from Darth Vader. Ahsoka had promised to find him when they get of there. But then again, they were at different points in time and Ezra disappeared with Thrawn to another galaxy. That makes this hug much more heartfelt and meaningful.

She’s never known what Luke looked like before - it’s not like the Rebellion posts pictures of their pilots on the holonet.  She expected to see Anakin in him, and she does, but what she didn’t expect was how much of Padme she can sense in the boy.

They lived fine for a year until until the Empire fully began. One thing led to another, his buir was killed, Vader and Nasty Man got their hands on him. They decided to keep him as Vader's apprentice in secret in order to have someone to use and keep Mandalore in their hands later on. Although, this didn't really last because the Night of a Thousand Years happened that very same year. So they didn't really need him anymore, but still kept him anyways. Palpatine didn't have much patience for him due to the boy being stubborn and refusing to be something other than a Mandalorian. Which is why he never truly fell to the dark side and doesn't have the yellow eyes. He's Mandalorain before anything else. So you know, trauma ensues, scars were made after the years from punishment. As much as he fought it, he ended up learning well from being forcibly trained by Vader. I want to say he escaped two or three years before the events of the original trilogy. For some reason they allowed him to keep his buir's armor so he had something to take, plus a large amount of beskar ingots he stole. Unfortunately, Vader caught up to him and the two had one last duel. The Sith Lord decided to "test" him and see if Juno deserved to be free. Like true Skywalker fashion, Vader cut off both his arms and left him for dead. Surprise, he didn't die and fortunately the planet he was on had a mod-parlor, so he got himself some cybernetics. Later he would use the beskar he stole to create neskar versions complete with the gauntlets. Years would pass, kept to himself in order to avoid being caught again by the Empire, which luckily not many knew of his existence anyways. He would later come to save Naro and Kesh from a slavers mines. They wouldn't leave him be so he has companions now. Empire fell, time went on and next thing he know he not only got adopted by the togruta and zabrack he saved, but also by the tried old man that is apparently Tatooine's Daimyo.

》 Yes essentially this is just my excuse for Boba to also have a force sensitive ad and Din to be omg we have two now so now Clan Fett-Djarin has two children and grogu has a big bro who wouldn't hesitate to murder anyone who dares to hurt him just like mama Din and papa Boba, probably a little more murderous considering he was trained by a Sith but shhhhhh we don't talk about that.
