Last night the High King and Queen had a really cute moment.

They were having the conversations they needed.

Being all sweet and stuff.

So, Cardan, obviously, he expected to wake up with Jude giving him kisses or Jude smiling up at him while they cuddled.

You know? A fluffy morning for a fluffy night.

But when he woke up, his queen wasn't there anymore.

Sure, she was just at the table.

Sure, the table was just a few meters away.

Sure, he didn't even need to lift his head from their pillows to see her.

BUT WHY WAS SHE NOT BESIDE HIM???

Why was she doing those --- those political whatchamacallits, first thing in the morning instead of big spoonin-- SNUGGLING. Snuggling with him???

He was just thinking but he was still stuttering cuz it was just THAT absurd.

"Cardan, why do you look at me as though I'm committing treason?"

He scoffed at her.

SHE DIDN'T EVEN LOOK AT HIM! SHE WAS RIGHT! TREASON! IT WAS TREASON. (he won't be punishing her though)

He turned away from her.

"We have a revel to attend. It would do us good to start getting ready. Now."

He turned to face her again.

Still pouting and frowning at her though.

But then their eyes met.

She wore the same expression as she had last night.

The King thinks he fell in love again.

"Together?"

He wanted to say so many things but it was the only thought that verbalized itself.

He sat himself up, feet on the floor, hands on the bed beside his thighs.

"Bathing, getting clothed, face and hair. We could do it by ourselves, without Tatterfell, if you want. We could do all of it together." She smiled at him.

He didn't know when she got so close to him.

Next thing he knows he had his hands on her waist, while she cupped and planted kisses everywhere on his face.

Kissing him then pausing to look at him in the eyes then kissing him again.

Cardan wasn't used to this kind of Jude.

Still, he won't complain.

"Good morning, you boneheaded asshat." ah... The King's Jude is back.

Cardan smiled.

The High queen called for the bath to be prepared.

While waiting... Let's just say the High King and Queen's eyes landed on each other and they ended up in a position where the High Queen is propped up on the table, the High King's waist between her legs, hand on his shoulders and another around his neck. Both eating at each others lips.

As Jude applied gold powder on her husbands cheekbones and as Cardan fixed his wife's hair, they couldn't stop thinking about how much their relationship changed.

As the spy and the cruel prince put crowns on each others heads, they couldn't help but say words they never thought they'd direct at each other. I love you.

Now words they can't go a day without telling each other.

They headed to the revel with hands intertwined.

Their names were announced, the doors were opened, and their people showed respect.

As my Queen deserves. Cardan looks over to his wife.

The High Queen of Elfhame smiles

She felt respected. Appreciated. Loved.

His morning didn't turn out the way he had expected.

Still.

The High King of Elfhame couldn't be happier.

At the end of the book Jude and Cardan go on a diplomatic mission in the undersea to watch Nicasia choose her fiancé, which made me wonder: are Cardan and her still friends? I don't know much about royalty, but I found this invitation so strange, like 'come and watch me choose my future fiancé so I can make sure you respect our treaty'? It's a genuine question.

Also, has she invited other nobles? Why is Nicasia being forced to marry if not even the sons of the High King Eldred have gone? And most importantly: after more than ten years, does she no longer feel anything for Cardan? Because damn it, I would never get over that man. I hate Nicasia (do I hate her more than Taryn?) but I always found her and Cardan's friendship cute(?), she may be horrible, but we have to admit that she had a real friendship with Cardan and well, that boy forgave her even after he caught her with Locke in his own bedroom, so it's clear that he likes her too.

I wish they were still close, but it also makes me jealous (crazy) that there are lots of things about Cardan that she knows and Jude doesn't. Speaking of her, after all, I'd like them to have a good relationship too. Like in TCP, when Jude wakes up in Locke's house, Nicasia is almost cordial to her, despite her acidity. I have long wanted to draw clothes, and even when I was reading the book, I came to the conclusion that about characters and the world in history blackholly can only be said with the help of clothing design. After i looked closer i realised that the editor was sleeping the whole tsh duology.Since tsh there was a messed up timeline wren will say that she was ten during tqn and then eleven when holly confirmed in 2020 that oak was canonically eight in tqn and then in tpt oak says"ten years in her reign"they werent even ten years since cardan got to power and wren sayng that she lived almost 2 years in tct doesnt make sense when she told us that they took her when cardan got to power,beetwen cardan coronation and tqn there are only eleven months definetly not almost two years.In tpt oak thinks that dain is the one who posioned liriope when in tsh oak says"at dains ORDERS she got poisoned".Oriana having wings after there was a whole speech about how she doesnt.In tsh the merrow sayng that the queen and her doughter have problems and then in tpt everyone sayng QUEEN Nicasia,i dont think Nicasia got a doughter in whatever years have passed.Cardan being suprised about the geas when in TWK theres a whole scene when he test her to see if she has a geas.In tsh there was a line that got repeteadet and that bothered me a lot.The amount of times oak says "Nonthless".The gramatical errors in tpt💀.Somoane needs to ger her a new editor asap!.Also there was someone who pointed that in TWK jude will complain about the salty water while she pretendet that she was glamored but we know that salt stops the glamour.I could say some thinghs a out tqn but i think there are just minors errors compared with what happened with tsh and tpt.

LOLLLL RIGHT!!!! Yes I love these books to bits. Yes I clown on how badly edited they are. The duality!!!

(I gotta say I think the saltiness of the sea is different and I sort of like it bc realistically the sea fae shouldn't be capable of doing any magic at all since they are constantly inhaling and exhaling salt through their gills)
