This was so much fun to draw, really happy with how he looks, I think he turned out just as I imagined him in the series! I based him off an oak tree, I don’t believe he has a given tree in the books but I could be wrong lol.

as I go through the books, I'm constantly thinking about how well they were adapted by peter jackson and the whole cast and crew not only in terms of atmosphere of the movies, which is talked about most often I think, but also. the key moments, the iconic scenes that were so tricky to translate to screen, and pj and the crew nailed it every. single. time.

gandalf coming with help to helm's deep as the dawn breaks? the ride of the rohirrim, as they cry "death" and flood the battlefield? the ents attacking isengard? I get chills every goddamn time, and those are just a couple of the scenes that I listed off the top of my head

not to mention aragorn arriving with the army of the dead, denethor's pyre the "I am no man" scene, the ENDING AT THE GREY HAVENS that makes me wail every single time

and the heart of the story, the warm, casual moments like bilbo's birthday

this post has no point except me saying that i just *clenches fist* fuckin love the lord of the rings
