6. Has fandom ever made you enjoy a pairing you previously hated?

Yes, actually! And entirely out of spite! :D I used to be a hardcore Spideypool fan (I still am tbh just less core), and I once made a post about Spiderio that somehow drew Starker antis into my ask box?? Someone literally came to tell me how terrible it was and shame me for just mentioning it in my post, and before that moment I had had no interest AT ALL in Starker, it didn't do anything for me. But after that I made it my literal mission to post about it as much as possible, and now I'm more of a Starker fan than a Spideypool fan, so :D Thank that poor angry asshole for all my Starker fics ✨

13. Unpopular opinion about XXX character (Yoichi)?

He has the will and capacity to kill. He's a paragon of moral virtue but sometimes the moral thing to do is kill. BUT Yoichi also shares his brother's bloodlust, I believe this wholeheartedly. It just tends to be directly almost solely at his brother rather than the general populace :) He's in Izuku's ear like "Kill his ass, Ninth" and Izuku, full of similar bloodlust somewhere in between Yoichi's and AFO's, rabidly complies 🙏 He's just as insane as AFO just in a different way I believe this wholeheartedly.

What made you ship it?

irondad was definitely the gateway for me heheheheh. tbh when antis tag or caption things like 'do not tag as st*rker' all that does is make me wanna check out the starker tag myself lmaoooo, so i did~

even tho it's not my first 'problematic' ship, after months of obsessively reading fluffy af platonic/familial field trips fics, dipping into starker was like:

and then lmao i read ride to church anon fics with all that delicious tension and situational conflict and slid right into:

in addition to very quickly acquiring a taste for it, when posting ficlets and gifsets i started throwing both starker and irondad tags on things just to broaden the audience it would reach and the starker community was very warm and welcoming! then i had a couple brushes with anon anti[s?] with a comment on a fic whining about the dual tag [on a platonic, g-rated piece that could be interpreted either way] and then my first actual starker fic [which was barely even racy, little more than some tension lmao] i cross posted here and the post got flagged and taken down within 24 hrs, i assume because someone reported it. so anyway idk man shit like that just drives one away from the community with unpleasant ppl in it and more toward the welcoming one? i made a starker side blog and never looked back UuU

What are your favorite things about the ship?

they foil wonderfully as characters. they think terribly alike, both taking on this heavy guilt over their own perceived failures. same humor and wit, same intellect/self made tech, same losses in life [on the same damn day i kid you not; dec 16, starks dead, may dead [nwh 'out' on 17th but could actually see it the 16th in theaters]]. shared colors. but one rich, one poor. one in the public eye, one masked. one older, experienced and worn down, one young, vibrant and earnest. even their kit is juxtaposed interestingly: tony's repulsors push stuff and peter's webs pull stuff. and they both care so damn much.

tony the futurist sees the future thriving in this kid's hands. peter looks up to him like none other. they see the best in each other and the worst in themselves. mix in the traumas [how hard it is for tony to trust ppl and how he trusts peter with more of his tech than anyone] and then the shared traumas, and the devotion of going to and beyond the damn ends of the earth for each other. how peter's sunshine heart can pull tony toward being better and tony pushes peter to be as good as he possibly can be. and with all the very good reasons they shouldn't get together, it's just so fucking good when they can't help but want to.

Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?

hmm i really can't think of any so, nope. some tropes i enjoy more than others but whatever fits for the context of the fanwork yknow, i'll entertain just about any take.

LOL I’M GOING TO GET CRUCIFIED FOR THIS but.

As much as I love all the slutty/sultry/bratty/sub/dumb/ignorant Peters I kinda wish there were more explorations of assertive/brave/smart/doesn’t always come untouched by praise kink Peters. Like, fuck I know he’s such a baby and fuck I love how bratty he is in Home Coming but fuck, look how much he developed in Home Coming, how he defeated an arch nemesis and takes care of everyone around him.

I’m not condemning any of slutty, bratty, sub, ignorant, cumslut Peters because god, I love him so much, I just wish there was more to the Starker ship than just baby peter and daddy Tony? I want some more Peters that take care of Tony, saves Tony (from himself), more explorations of Peter’s character development. I wish there are more dynamics between the two that’s about their...dynamic, rather than just smut.

Fuck, I love the smut, but...I also want to read more long fic of good, character development and explorations on top of good smut....

Unpopular Opinion: The Sentimonster!Adrien theory makes for some interesting scenarios, with Gabriel having control of his amok helping to reinforce the themes of him controlling Adrien against his will and viewing him as an object, and as being somehow defective when he rebels, as well as allowing for even starker contrast between how Adrien's friends think of him and how Gabriel does. Also, potential for an even more epic rebellion from Adrien, with breaking free from Gabriel's control.

I’m gonna be blunt with this, I have extremely personal reasons for not liking the theory, and absolutely nothing can convince me that it isn’t completely bad and honestly kinda offensive. 

Any interesting scenario that can come from the Sentimonster!Adrien theory are things that are already being used against him now. Gabriel already has control over Adrien in the sense that he can make him do things that he doesn’t want to because he’s been manipulating him his whole life. Gabriel already has a different view of his son that conflicts with his son and how his friends view him. Adrien arguing with Gabriel already ends in him getting him in trouble. The potential for rebellion from Adrien is already epic and wouldn’t somehow be made more so by him being a sentimonster. He’ll still be a child standing up to his abuser and that is always going to mean more with him not being a sentimonster.

There is not a single upside or positive thing that could come from of him being a sentimonster that can’t be done and won’t mean more with him not being a sentimonster.

I'm going to challenge you and give you two episodes that Stan didn't appear in: Cat Orgy and Jewbilee

Wow hdu deny me my fav for even a second hahahah. I'm going to end up mentioning him a lil in Cat Orgy but I'll avoid it as much as I can lol

Cat Orgy

Give me a South Park episode and I'll answer...

★ Do I like this episode? Why or why not? I do, even though it's another where I think the pacing is a bit off, in particular the second half of it and tbh I don't think it's that funny. What I DO like about it is the dynamic between Shelly and Cartman. It's interesting to see a back and forth between characters who often fill an antagonist role AND I like Skyler being clearly labeled as a predator even when it comes to Cartman's perspective.

★ Favorite moment? Cartman flipping to support Shelly, Shelly NOT caving to Skyler.

★ Least favorite moment? The actual cat orgy part plus the musical parts. Also Shelly's turd insults are kid insults so it's fine but there are just enough of them that I don't really like it.

★ Do I have an unpopular opinion about this episode? What is it? I doubt it, it seems pretty straightforward. I guess I wish there was more Cartman and Shelly interaction in general.

★ Something I would change? Shift away from the cat orgy haha and focus more on Cartman and Shelly.

★ Rating out of 5? 2.5 or 3, it's fine

★ Anything else I want to say about this episode? Cartman's relationship with Stan's family always interests me because he tends to get along well with them, and often times gets along with them better than Stan does himself. But Shelly is the only time I can think of that that's a positive thing: with Randy and Jimbo the times Cartman connects is specifically over being an asshole and actually also has a common thread of uniting against Kyle, while Stan has a positive relationship with Kyle and when he has a positive relationship with his family it's at the expense of himself, not others. Shelly and Cartman's relationship is unique from both those other dynamics, probably because Shelly has trouble connecting with her family, too. So they do still 'cause trouble' together, but it's against a predator and ALSO only comes about because of both of their parents being hands' off and Cartman and Shelly wanting to keep things from them.

Give me a South Park episode and I'll answer...

★ Do I like this episode? Why or why not? Yes, it's another pretty unexplored dynamic with Kyle and Kenny. Between the other three and Kenny, I feel like they get the least time devoted to them so it's nice to see.

★ Favorite moment? 'oh, Kenny isn't special?' and Kenny's little 'aw' cracks me up. I also like Kyle and Gerald's 'You want me to lie?' 'Yeah, lie.' 'Squirts was soooo fun' bit.

★ Least favorite moment? Pretty consistently with early eps I kind of get 'eh' on the ends. It's all decent enough though.

★ Do I have an unpopular opinion about this episode? What is it? I doubt it, I never see Jewbilee discourse

★ Something I would change? Hmm maybe I'd take the parts focusing on the actual religion a little more seriously? I guess sometimes when it comes to Catholicism vs Judaism it feels a bit more like the Catholics actual beliefs aren't made fun of, their actions following their beliefs are, while it feels more that BEING Jewish is made fun of and even if it's 'as true' as being Catholic it's sillier as a concept? It's hard to explain why it feels that way considering the depiction Catholicism gets ripped on too. IDK! I'm an atheist, I can't say shit probably lol I think it was a bit starker in earlier seasons though.

★ Rating out of 5? A little over 3, it's cute.

★ Anything else I want to say about this episode? Nah

it's not that i hate them but i do feel like they have more interesting dynamics with other characters and while i do always love a good best friends to lovers romance i much prefer johnnywyatt for that.

i'd probably like it more in of itself but there are a lot of Casual ff fans who are mostly there for spideytorch and that's not necessarily a bad thing but it is obvious that sue, ben, reed, wyatt, etc are just the backdrop that they don't really care about for spideytorch. which isn't necessarily a bad thing, i mean, like what you like but it does annoy me a lil. like man there's literally just four characters to worry about you can afford to give them more than one personality trait fbcdfbhcd.

and i am.... not prepared for it's inevitable surge when ff mcu film comes out. part of me hopes that mcu johnny will be too old (i do prefer my johnny to be in his early 30s instead of like. a child.) but considering the popularity of starker & mcu spideypool i don't think that would stop anyone. it's already the most popular ship on AO3. like spideytorch has 708 fics. sue and reed, marvel's first proper romance and one of their most iconic has 239. that's less than half of spideytorch, a non canon ship. like it's ALREADY so big compared to other ships and like.... no offence but again they have better relationships with other characters, and i KNOW that spidey is WAYYYYYYY more popular than any of the ff characters, let alone ff side characters but you have to admit it's suspect how spideytorch have 700 and johnnywyatt have 27.

so yeah. not a ship i hate or anything and i've definitely appreciated a few fics and fanpieces but i can rlly easily see myself hating it when it eventually properly becomes an MCU based ship.

What OTPs in your fandom(s) do you just not get?*

IronWidow, IronHawk, IronDarcy.... nothing against any of them. But with the goldmine of close canon relationships Tony has, and potentially fascinating ones he could have (Bucky, Loki, Strange, StarLord) these choices just feel so random. Like, why waste Tony on Hawkeye or Darcy? 

Have you ever unfollowed someone over a fandom opinion?

I’m very tolerant of other opinions, especially on fictional characters; but shipping anything I deem pedo (like “Starker”) is where I draw the line. I also tend to block self-proclaimed “anti-Stark” blogs, becaues those people tend to have legitimate issues. 

Do you have a NoTP in your fandom? Are they a popular OTP?*

Again, anything pedo. Tony/Peter, Shuri/Bucky, etc.  Granted, I do ship Bucky with Ava and Wanda, but both can plausibly be seen as college-age young women--as opposed to Peter and Shuri, who are given canon high school ages. 

Is there anything you used to like but can’t stand now?*

Steve Rogers. Re-watching early movies always blows me away with how lively and likable he is. And makes me madder at how the Russos did him dirty. 

Have you received anon hate? What about?*

Not in the MCU fandom, oddly enough.  

Most disliked character(s)? Why?

Steve Rogers. I don’t have an eternity to go into the details, but basically he’s an obnoxious Gary Stu, half his stanbase seem to be fangirls with legitimate issues regarding a love for violence and a lack of empathy, and the other half are misogynist incels. 

Most disliked arc? Why?

"Civil Fart.” Because it’s insultingly bad. Everyone is OOC and a moron, and Cap’s Gary Stu-ness is through the roof. 

Unpopular opinion about XXX character?

Steve Rogers, at his absolute best, is a bland, generic character, played by a moderately competent actor with a generic style. Chris Evans could be replaced with Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, James MacAvoy, and any other one of Hollywood’s generic lead men, and we’d get about the same performance and character. Again, at Steve’s absolute best.  When he’s not written as an asinine Gary Stu, and/or being played like Evans is processed by Keanu Reeves.  

If you could change anything in the show, what would you change?

How much time we got? 

Instead of XYZ happening, I would have made ABC happen…

Tony should’ve made Bucky his new arm, instead of Shuri

Wanda should have ended up with Bucky or Loki, instead of the spleen in the spandex 

Lara Barton should be Clint’s sister, or ex-wife. (Not both, obviously.) 

Instead of rewarding Tony’s tragic, self-loathing, and totally untrue belief that only he can save the universe and that he doesn’t deserve happiness or hep, I’d end “endgame” like the first GotG movie, with all the Avengers coming together to hold the Gauntlet with Tony so he lives. 

Hawkeye should’ve died instead of Nat. 

What is the one thing you hate most about your fandom?

Captain America stans--especially his misogynist fanboys who project all of his most glaring Gary Stu traits and character flaws onto Carol Danvers. 

What are your thoughts on crack ships?

Provided there’s no pedo, I love them. The crazier the better. 

Popular character you hate?

Captain America and Vision. 

Unpopular character you love?

Wanda Maximoff. She has her fans, but it seems far more common to find haters than fans of MCU-Wanda. I can’t blame anyone for hating her, since the movies really do fumble her story arc and character, and make her look really bad. I’m just able to overlook that stuff. 

Most shippable character?

Tony Stark is the fandom bicycle for a reason. He not only has many of the best onscreen relationships in the series, but he also has so many unexplored/underused potential relationships all over the franchise, and instead, the Russos just force the same repetitive Iron Man vs. Captain Stu down our throats ad nausiem. Thank god for fanfiction. 

Least shippable character?

Vision. Yes, even less than the Cap. At least I can believe Steggy, Staron, Stucky or Steve/Groot, even if they’re all boring. But Vision? I am hard pressed to see him having genuine chemistry with anyone. Bar “Infinity War” where they managed to make me care about his and Wanda’s relationship.

Unpopular opinion: I love starker but I think Peter/Ned is a better ship but no one talks about it because of Ned's weight. 💁‍♀️

Okay, so technically I have more complicated feelings than ‘agree’ on this one but I’ll get into it. In a general sense, yeah, I agree that Ned/Peter would have been a way more popular ship if A- Ned wasn’t a person of color and B- it definitely would have been more popular if Ned wasn’t a bigger guy. One hundred percent Ned’s weight plays a role in why people don’t ship him and Peter (although coincidentally I do if I’m looking for that kind of goofy teen ship to write out some crack- they’re perfect for it). 

They kind of remind me of Tony/Rhodey where yeah, 100% they’re good bros and I’m cool with them bing bros, but also its not necessarily hard to read them in a romantic light (hell, TonyRhodey is arguably more romantic in its presentation than TonyPepper ever was in my opinion). But no, we all know why they never turned into the hellfire that stucky did (no offense to at least some stucky shippers but got their fanbase made me loath that ship with the fiery passions of 5000 burning suns because they were so god awful. Which is a shame because they were my first MCU ship). Ned/Peter suffered similar fates for similar reasons.

Where I disagree is mostly due to the fact that starker and Ned/Peter offer me wildly different things as far as content goes. If I’m looking for something wholesome and funny with a dash of Sad Feelings Ned/Peter is fantastic, and of course there’s all the AU possibilities to spice up their dynamic. But that is undeniably different from what starker offers just because the characters are so different and Tony is also a much more fleshed out character. Of course he is when he’s been in like 18 more movies than Ned’s character and is also a main character rather than a side character- that gives me something different than Ned/Peter because the power dynamics aren’t even close to the same even if I’m writing an AU where they’re the same age. 

Personally, I prefer starker but I know that’s because I really really like Tony Stark as a character. He’s one of the few ‘hero’ characters I enjoy because he’s so textured and flawed. Ned is more of a goody two shoes, and that’s okay because A- that doesn’t mean I can’t give him more texture myself, and B- he just doesn’t have the same amount of screen time so he can’t possibly compare to a character that has way more content to pull from anyway. But none of those feelings, including my subjective love of Tony’s character resulting in me preferring any ship that involves him over any other option on principal, doesn’t change the fact that yeah, people don’t ship Ned/Peter because of his weight and also a little bit his race. He’s definitely relegated to the Bed Friend Role only almost exclusively because of those things considering that crazy ass Ride or Die bastard actually ass told a teacher he was watching porn on a school computer to get his best friend out of shit. And for that reason alone Ned is the best friend or boyfriend anyone could ask for. The guy in the chair, everyone.

Thank you darling!

Favorite thing about them: how much he cares about everyone. I’d kill and die for Tony the Provider. Despite all his (understandable) trust issues, ever since he became involved with the Avengers, Tony literally treated them as family, gave them a home, paid for everything, made sure they had access to all kinds of facilities and suits and gadgets and nobody but Peter ever thanked him for it. The way he was treated in both Age of Ultron and Civil War makes me salty because he was always so worried about everyone and never got any appreciation, trust or support in return. He only embraced death after knowing everyone was safe, after Pepper assured him he could finally rest because they’d be okay. That makes me incredibly sad but it’s also why I love him so much. I’ll forever fight whoever calls Tony selfish after everything he’s done for the Avengers and for the universe.

Least favorite thing about them: you mean besides the fact that he’s not my (or Peter’s) husband? Lol I mean... I wish Tony wouldn’t let himself be so vulnerable around Steve. I enjoyed their relationship up until after Civil War but after that it felt like he still looked up to Cap and wanted his trust/approval more than anything, and that broke my heart. I know it’s complicated because of his relationship with Howard (and the fact that I used to ship Stony probably makes me feel stronger about it than I should) but it really bothers me.

Favorite line: “I just finally know what I have to do and I know in my heart that it’s right.”

Unpopular opinion: I agree with @learned-foot about Tony’s fate in Endgame. Of course I hate the fact that he’s gone but I think his death worked and I’ve made my peace with it. It was legit and that badass self-sacrificing moment was the perfect way to end his redemption arc imo. What a way to go 😌

Song I associate with them: AC/DC goes without saying, and The Scientist by Coldplay gives me major Tony feels (honestly, the line “Questions of science, science and progress do not speak as loud as my heart” was custom made for him). But if we’re talking about Starker then Turning Page by Sleeping at Last. They provide the best Starker songs 👌🏼

This is probably a stupid question, but do you like Steve Rogers? I feel like a lot of Starker shippers don't like him.

i mean, since most starker shippers are tony stans, his actions in civil war can leave a bad taste in one’s mouth, you know? there were certainly things said and done by him in that movie that i really didn’t like

and it’s been a hot minute or three since i saw all the marvel movies that feature him (besides iw & eg) so my answer isn’t gonna be very well put-together or essay-like but

yeah, i do like steve rogers as a character. his writing, for me, was the best back during tfa, tws, aou, and this might be an unpopular opinion, but i actually genuinely liked him in cw. there isn’t a lot of consistency with his writing i’ll admit, but i can still look at the character and understand why he does or says what he does. and chris evans killed in his portrayal of such an iconic character, it’s hard to hate anyone portrayed by him

then again that might just be the gay in me talking lmao

also, i’m not inviting anyone to argue with me or try to prove their point. i have my opinion on steve, and i’m happy with it, thanks. even if i reblog jokes that rag on steve and make fun of him, i do genuinely like him.

Tony Stark for the character ask! - starkerintheparker

Favourite thing about them: the fact that when confronted with his mistakes he had the bravery and the strength to change. 

Least favourite thing about them: that despite all of his personal development he still puts everyone before himself. I understand that that's what makes him hero material but I just want him happy and wholesome, okay? 

Favourite line: i don't know enough quotes off the top of my head, but I guess it's "If you're nothing without this suit, then you shouldn't have it." I like how emotional he is when he says it and the meaning behind it. Oh and the liar monologue. 

brOTP: Rhodey. All the exasperation and sass between them makes me smile during every scene they share. And Tony totally brings out the crazy in Rhodey at least as much as Rhodey grounds him. 

OTP: starker, what else? I see Peter as Tony's chance to heal not just because of how wholesome he is but also because for Tony choosing Peter would actually mean choosing himself.

nOTP: I don't think I have notps for Tony, but I have difficulty seeing him with Doctor Strange (too much alike) or Bucky (unless the process of Tony working through his anger is shown in detail).

Random headcanon: Tony talking to his AIs and bots. I won't go into detail because the idea of him talking to his machines makes me weep.

Song I associate with them: is AC/DC's Back in Black too cliché? I heard that song for the first time in IM1 and it kinda stuck with Tony for me. 

Favourite picture of them: this sent me down a rabbit whole of image searches that yielded no result. I love him when he's serious, I love him when he's smiling, I love him when he's elegant, I love him when he's casual casual, I love him in armour and I love him naked (probably that would be my favourite look). I just love Tony.

• favorite thing about them - The fact that he's a complete futurist. He always learns from his mistakes and adapts, or like A.A. Steve says, makes the situation adapt to him.

• least favorite thing about them Emotionally constipated bb

• favorite line - "Drop your socks and grab your crocs, we're about to get wet on this ride" or "If we can't protect the world, you can be damn well sure we'll avenge it" or "if we can't accept limitations then we're no better than the bad guys"

• brOTP - I'm sorry is there another option than James Fucking Rhodes???

• OTP - Stevetony because of AA and all the amazing fics out there but within the mcu absolutely nothing could touch pepperony other than maybe ironhusbands

• nOTP - The moment I see a single Starker it's on sight

• random headcanon - This fic completely sold me on the idea that he grew up being close with Peggy and Sharon and absolutely no one can change my mind

• unpopular opinion - I don't think this is unpopular with more casual fans but with the stans I think a lot of people didn't like his ending but I actually loved it. There was no other way for rdj to exit the mcu than Tony dying and the fact that it happened with him finally defeating this one jackass who's been plaguing his nightmares and ruining everything for him for like a decade and actually being known and appreciated finally as the hero he is......v satisfying

• Jsong I associate with them - ourney (Ready to Fly) by Natasha Blume (I swear every single lyric fits) because of this edit, stronger than ever by Raleigh Ritchie because of this edit, walk by foo fighters (another one where every lyric seems to fit) because of this edit, and Pluto by Sleeping at last because of my own edit, but whoo boy do I need to redo that one cause let's just say I've learned a lot since I made it

Spencer Reid:

• favorite thing about them - His softness and how he's always the first to advocate for the occasional unsubs that are victims themselves - he's always looking for ways to help save people, even the bad guys

• least favorite thing about them - His annoying ass facial hair since season 12 I'm always three seconds away from jumping into the screen and taking a razor to his face

• favorite line -  "This is calm, and it's doctor" or "I know what it's like to be afraid of your own mind" or "Watch me" (kind of unremarkable out of context but its after he was framed and put in maximum security for like 6 months and the unsub who framed him told him he could never come back from what he went through and he looked her in the eyes and said this and I cried)

• bOTP - w/ either Derek who legit named his kid after him or Garcia

• OTP - Him and Emily have such a rich history together, like I feel like she was the only person he allowed himself to be really vulnerable with for a long time, but also Ralvez is very cute

•  OTP - none, actually

• random headcanon - he actually knows how to use chopsticks but just likes to fuck with the team

• unpopular opinion - The writers need to either stop giving him storylines and actually use that time to flesh out the newer characters or give him storylines that have substance other than just Spencer Reid Is Suffering. The man has not had a speck of happiness in 15 years look what you've done, you've given him anxiety

• song I associate with them - The funeral, which is the song that plays when he's rescued and pockets the heroin in the hankel storyline, Journey On, which was the perfect choice for that scene, just watching him after a season of straight nonstop suffering ride that elevator, the only thing left separating him from his mom it was pure *chefs kiss*, and Silhouette by Aquilo, from my own edit, which I can never listen to because I will go absolutely feral I have PTSD from how long it took to make that edit (also it was my first one but surprising much better than some of the other ones I've done)

I’ll keep it to the Marvel fandom and go ahead and say that I’ve always had a soft spot for Tony/Nat. They’re probably two of my most favorite characters in the MCU, and coincidentally they were both done dirty in Endgame. Fascinating...

4. Do you have a NoTP in your fandom? Are they a popular OTP?Starker. As a superfamily fan, that’s absolutely a no from me. That’s just my own opinion.

6. Has fandom ever made you enjoy a pairing you previously hated?I don’t think I’ve particularly hated any pairing before, but I’ve started enjoying pairings I didn’t ship before. Thortony is a lot of fun, and so is Rhodeytony. I don’t particularly ship them myself, but the content is terrific and it’s great to see my friends enjoy themselves.

10. Most disliked arc? Why?The Russos Cinematic Universe. We know why.

13. Unpopular opinion about XXX character? (Natasha)There was never enough of her! And she should not have died!!!

17. Instead of XYZ happening, I would have made ABC happen…Instead of Tony putting on the Gauntlet and dying, it should’ve been Steve, or the both of them, or the whole team together.
