[Hazbin Hotel Redesigns Pt.6] Velvette

Just doing these for fun!

The method to my madness is a mystery, so instead of having the rest of the main cast why not a villain!

Velvette is certainly my favorite of the three and I especially like how many different looks that she has throughout the show, which makes sense for a fashion designer, so I may doodle her with a variety of different out fit and hair styles. Anyhow like a lot of the others I quite like her original designs so I just sorta drew her in my style lol, I gave her doll joints since I believe she’s based after one, but the outfit I chose for her doesn’t exactly put those details on display too much, I also gave her a nose as I-personally-think too many characters don’t have noses, sorta like bow ties in this show, so I have her one, I also shifted the blue coloring in her palette to more purple just to make the overall palette more cohesive.

I’ve also cooked up another redesign I’ll post in a few days, Mayhaps a certain designers rival 👀

Here's a silly little side thing for the Cox Chronicles ask where Vox successfully kidnaps Alastor: Velvette takes advantage of Alastor being tied up and helpless by snapping him into some decent modern clothes. She also uses the opportunity to rectify his travesty of a haircut since he's fried it to hell and back by straightening it for a hundred years. It basically turns into a whole spa day while Vox is screaming at her through the cameras to stop making friends with his trophy prisoner. Which of course just leads to Alastor being petty and leaning into it which makes Vox even angrier and Velvette likes him that much more.

SOMEONE needs to get on Angel Dust & Vox content.

Not a ship, but just their whole dynamic could be so interesting.

Both Angel and Vox are connected to Valentino. Both of them, for lack of a better phrase, fuck with Valentino. But they have such different dynamics.

What they have in common (besides sex):

They're both used to Val's violent temper.

Both are unafraid to stand up to him if necessary

Differences:

Since Vox is stronger and on more even footing, he sees Val less as a threat and more as an annoyance when he acts up.

(I love that second scene Vox's face makes me laugh every time)

Vox has also learned non-violent ways to pacify Valentino where Angel...can't do that.

Angel, however, has reason to be afraid. Val owns him and can do whatever he wants to him. For the most part he's less scared and more miserable, but there is fear.

Angel's abuse has led him to inflating Val's strength in his own mind. This leads him to being protective of people who could feasibly kick Val's ass, putting himself in harms way to keep them safe from him.

Vox doesn't have anyone to protect from Val, really. The only others we know he cares about are Velvette and Alastor. Velvette is part of their team and used to this shit, and Alastor could not give less of a fuck.

Angel also has somewhat healthy relationships while Vox only has the Vees and his obsession with Alastor, which is also distinctly aggressive.

I have so many questions though.

Is Vox jealous of Angel being Val's main carnal focus? Did Angel ever envy Vox because he got to see a nicer Val more often and wasn't bound to his will? What do they think of each other? Has Val hurt Vox? I mean we know he can swap his head out for different monitors, could Val have broken his face at some point? Does Angel know?

Could Vox and Angel have any kind of connection from the abuse Val puts them through? And how would that dynamic effect their other relationships?

The closest we have to an interaction between them is this in Poison

Vox is holding Val's hand less like a handshake and more like kissing his hand. He sees Angel and stops whatever he's saying, and his smile drops. Then he gives Val an I'd almost call it a soft look, and then he zaps off.

There's also those lines on his face. Those aren't the same lines Vox has when he's worked up.

It's the other side of his face.

But also if you notice, both Val and Angel have something coming out of their mouths in this scene too. (this gif is Angel having wiped it off on his hand, you can see the droplets)

Seemingly, this is Val's saliva...ew.

I've seen people theorize Val's spit works like an aphrodisiac or has some other kind of soporific effect. I've seen people suggest it's an ingredient in Velvette's love potions.

Point being, it's a physical manifestation of the "poison" Angel is "addicted to", "choking on", and "full of".

The implication on Vox being that he's being poisoned too.

And there's just...something about this that has me thinking.

I just think they could be a fun dynamic to explore.

What are the qualities that the Vees hate/despise about each other? What strings do you need to pluck to make their team crumble?

Okay, so Val is the easy one - his short temper and recklessness. Vox and Velvette already have moments then they want to strangle him so someone would have to prove the other two that Valentino is not only impulsive but genuinely unreliable and is not safe to be kept around.

With Vox its his egocentrism. Like, he so obviously does not care about Velvette's show falling apart (motherfucker does not even look at her while sipping his coffee) or Valentino's meltdown (from viewers' perspective it's 100% valid but from the inside, Vox should care at least a little that his friend is going through emotional pain). Someone would have to convince others that he does not care at all and would sell them to satan for a one corn chip.

Since Vox and Val are massive egotistical maniacs, their least favorite part of Velvette is her perceptiveness and the way she has the nerve and audacity to call them out on their bullshit. To turn against her they would have to feel that she thinks they are idiots, manipulated them all and they are just her pawns she mistreats.

Hazbin Hotel Talent Show

The characters come out, ready to perform in a mandatory talent show hosted by God.

Alastor plays the piano while his shadows play multiple other instruments, including but not limited to, the cello, the violin, the bass, and a drum set.

Vox can't play any instruments. But he can connect a piano into blue tooth and pump some digital ai generated music through it and pretend like he's playing.

Valentino plays the flute. Just some random ass instrument.

Husk? He's more of a cello guy.

Vaggie knows how to play the lyre, but she's not good at it. Surprisingly, she's great at the electric guitar. Adam taught her. But those are bad memories now and she avoids the instrument entirely.

Rosie plays the clarinet. Sure. That's fine. All elegant and shit. What you didn't know is she's also great at death metal drumming!

Charlie can sing screamo. Screeches the likes you've never heard!

Mimzy is a singer, of course. No instruments. Just dancing.

Niffty's got some mad skills on the triangle.

Sir Pentious plays the harpsichord (precursor to the piano).

The eggbois play a mix of bells and maracas. <- One day Pen tried to distract them with bells and maracas, and they went around the hotel making 'beautiful' music. Everyone was shouting at Pen to stop them, but he just stood in the corner, hands clasped and eyes watering at his precious eggbois.

Velvette beat boxes.

Tom Trench plays a vitar (mix between a guitar and a violin).

Katie Killjoy thinks music is a waste of time. She stands there and summarizes everyone's performances instead. They're all shit. Especially Tom's.

Lucifer and his clones come out at the end, each holding a set of bagpipes.

All in all, God regrets this mandatory talent show.

....

God asks about Alastor's furby piano once everyone is gone. After one song, God understands why Alastor got sent to Hell.
