It is okay to need pain medication to function with your chronic pain. It is okay. I promise. I know everywhere you turn pain medication is demonized. I know that it is scary to talk about. It is okay to be grateful that you have access to pain medication. Pain meds have greatly improved my quality of life and I wouldn't be able to live my life outside of my bed without them. A certain genre of posts / Online Opinions about insecurity/depression/misery/complaints that are so unhelpful that they wrap right around to being straight up hilarious. and it's the ones that are more or less written to the tone of "Feeling bad? That's gross!" Like, just so you know, don't voice your insecurities/ have low self esteem, because that's offputting! You're gross and weird. Don't be insecure about that, though. That would be stupid if you felt insecure about people disliking you for being insecure. Not attractive. You should be thinking about being as attractive as possible. You shouldn't make comments about suicide, even if you're suicidal! Keep those thoughts entirely to yourself. Make sure nobody around you knows you're thinking about this. It would Make Them Uncomfortable. It's better to keep these thoughts in your head where they can fester. Don't post OR talk to friends with complaints about you feeling miserable or depressed. Tbh people who are sad/upset a lot? Kinda a red flag! You are probably miserable because you're a bad person and you've brought this on yourself. If you don't have friends, it's because you're awful to be around. Easy! Solved the problem for you. And no, there is no nuance to this, got it? So, make sure to feel bad about feeling bad, but don't feel bad about it, because, well, that's just gross. And annoying! You might've wanted your brain rotted thoughts to be Peer Reviewed, you might have just needed to vent- you might've been hoping for some comfort, to get things off your chest. Well, don't! all hate to tiktok for taking 'having a space to more openly and actively talk about different cultures' to mean 'cultures are NOT to be shared and we must be vigilantly defensive of our cultures for fear of appropriation, a word that can be applied to any multicultural interaction'. like of course cultural appropriation is a very real problem but ive seen with the access to global multicultural conversation that tiktok provides it's made people TERRIFIED to even interact with cultures other than their own for fear of 'doing it wrong'. like at some point you have to acknowledge that in the real world of the great outdoors, the majority of people are eager to SHARE their cultures. yes there are ignorant questions and biases but also... how do you think those things get unlearnt? i dont understand how deciding that multiculturalism is an elephant in the room instead of a normal thing that should just be talked about and lived with is supposed to benefit anyone? and kids on tiktok are CONVINCED that it's a time bomb of a conversation to have and therefore must be avoided at all costs but like. people generally LOVE their home and their culture and are PROUD of it and want to share it. how have we made it so that showing genuine interest and a desire to understand something so integral to a person's identity is now feared and borderline demonised?

so sorry if this is too invasive of a question but did you ever start an antidepressant that didnt affect your ability to nut or did you just discontinue your meds entirely ? asking bc i started a new antidepressant recently and have been afflicted with the same condition but im like so embarrassed to bring it up to my doctor idk if theres even anything they can do or another medication that wont do this 😭

OH Man yeah okay, I haven't been Thoroughly cataloging my medication journey but like... first of all, I Did Not Tell my doctor about the nut curse. I just didn't. so you can definitely get around that if you don't want to bring it up as vehemently as I did. but, after I went off lexy, I started on bupropion. which does not impede my ability to nut. in fact, ever since my dose on it got raised, it's doing the opposite of that.

#I think it's bc SSRIs have the potential for the Nut Curse and most antidepressants are That #but bupropion isn't. it's a (tabs away to google) #NDRI. #so the list of side effects seems to be different #I can't in good conscience Recommend bupropion to you bc I'm not your doctor but it Is a medication that (for me) doesn't Nut Curse. #but yes!! there are in fact medications that don't do that!! #or I am pretty sure that if you are on an antidepressant that's WORKING very well for you- BUT- it's giving you a nut curse #then you can stay on those meds but maybe take some other thang to counteract the undesired side effect. butttt that would require #having a conversation with your doctor about specifically your ability to bust a big one. which... #some ppl are stronger than others. i am weak. i did not wanna have a conversation like that #and also lexapro didn't work for me AT ALL it actually made me worse. so just switching meds was the smarter option #sergle answers

I had thought my mom knew about my conversion, because one of my sisters mentioned having said something about it to her, but considering the get-well gifts she sent along with my dad on his visit up here include an advent calendar and a bunch of ornaments, I'm now crossing my fingers she's just really oblivious and that whole awkward conversation with her is still in my future, because the alternative is uh. Not good.
