can you spare Violante/Gortash lore? (I will take literally ANYTHING)

holding your hand so gently rn as i type this, ily thanks for the ask!! i'm going to try and give the shortest (failed a bit, sorry) backstory lore dump here about what was going on between them and Vio's bestie before the game events since i never spoke of it

Violante is actually born and raised in waterdeep, she meets Gortash by pure chance during some big fancy event in baldur's gate where she's (forced) to attend by her mother. Ruven who's her drow bestie 4 life and death is there as well and the circumstances of their first meeting with Gortash is actually funny. He shows up fashionably late at the party, spots these two almost tearing each other throat out in a quarrel and decided to jump in just to make fun of them and how 'they truly let anyone in these days' (Vio is a fallen noble, Ruven a bastard of big house devir, they hold almost zero importance in the big picture of nobility and their power) but at the same time he has the balls to ask Vio on the first dance of the night, he does it to anger Ruven really and Vio accepts just to make Ruven's blood boil a lil bit. tear the drow apart girlies

they should've been just the amusement of the night, a stunt for fun, but Gortash ends up meeting them a few more times during Vio's stay in baldur's gate. thing is, they don't actually hold any importance to his eyes nor any plan, they are nobles he can't get anything from, yet he notices something about the dynamic between them (toxic, codependent, ready to hurt one another as a form of love, Vio follows Ruven like a lost puppy but still is the one to have him on a leash under her power) and he decides he finds them..entertaining and who cares after all? they aren't even baldurians so he could fuck around and hopefully not find out without any big repercussion since they would be gone for waterdeep sooner than later. Gortash rather cunningly enters the dynamic, he plays with the clear possessive obsession that Vio & Ruven have. Violante is indeed the weak spot so his attack is lead through her, Ruven is a great manipulator and just as cunning so he has this subtle hate for Gortash as he has it for Ruven (they hatefuck, thank u) while Vio just wants to see her drow bestie suffer and it's clear that she can achieve that if Gortash is involved BUT Ruven can't let her see he's actually bothered by her interest in Gortash or he'd let her win. Basically you have these three idiots using each other and fucking nasty while they are at it.

something none of them foresee is that they end up enjoying each other presence far more than what was planned, Violante in particular (since she basically lived closed in her manor most of her life bc of a very toxic mother) finds the new company a breath of fresh air and Gortash does enjoy having a quite stimulating conversationalist in Violante. But everything was going to end anyway, right? a short lived fling they all had fun with. Vio and Ruven go back to waterdeep and Gortash simply keeps living his life.

a few years later tho Violante and Gortash meet again in baldur's gate, this happens right after Vio killed Ruven (ops) and the shock of it all plus the power she achived by becoming a warlock, makes her flee waterdeep. she won't admit it but she actually wanted to meet Gortash, that's why she went to baldur's gate, in her mind he's what little connection she has left with her dead bestie. She tells him Ruven his dead and nothing more, Gortash is way too clever to not realise she's the one that killed him but he says nothing, he finds the event interesting..and maybe beneficial for his future plans (sick and twisted woman to use as a pawn but also..an unsettling feeling of.. happiness.. to have met her again). but this doesn't last as well, a few days later after she found some ahem ahem comfort in Gortash, she leaves without saying a word. they meet again during canon game events and i'm pretty sure i'm making her side with him but for that..i'm still planning and thinking hehe and truly i've talked WAY TOO MUCH NOW

any headcanons about mental health / coping strategies for our fav warlocks and vampire? ;) we know quite a lot about magnus in canon but still, never enough lmao; and how about raphael, ragnor and cat? they all been thru a lot, poor babies, and im willing to bet you have thoughts on the matter *sly smirk*

well it depends on what they are coping WITH, u know daoidjsaodij different strategies for different problems and all that. i do think that magnus and raphael in particular have a lot of common coping mechanisms, because they taught each other a lot of shit. i also think there is a lot of stuff that had bothered magnus but he never stopped to think of a solution FOR until he started thinking of what he could do for raphael (and vice versa) because he is that kind of person

like when magnus and raphael are first shopping raphael notices that he likes vests and other stuff like that because of his hyposensitivity to pressure so it feels nice to have something that's like, tight around his torso, you know? so magnus is like great, let's get you lots of vests :)) and then he sees some he likes and tries them on and he's like wait a minute............. i DO like the pressure too....... have i been hyposensitive to pressure this whole time?? (spoiler alert: yes)

then for magnus of course we have drinking which is not his healthiest coping mechanism in any way lmao, but sometimes they do be unhealthy. again i don't think magnus is an alcoholic per se but he does have a suboptimal relationship with the way he turns to it to be able to cope with certain situations he can't escape. i presume this has a bit to do with the fact that he frequently is in stressful (not to mention sensory overloading) situations during parties and other events where you have lots of alcohol, so you know, drinking helps dull his senses and get rid of some of the anxiety. or if he's having a depressive episode, it can also make him more sociable, give him some energy, you know. so i think because it was something that was acceptable for him to use and that helped with many of his problems in social situations he can't escape, if became a coping mechanism (again, an unhealthy one)

healthier coping mechanisms tho! i think magnus also enjoys tea when he needs to calm down. we've seen him drinking tea quite a few times after having flashback episodes and i'm sure it's a coping mechanism to him. helps calm him down and also stay in the present because of the sensations, without overwhelming him because it's not a strong drink, you know? it eases him back into reality. it also can't hurt his insomnia, or, if it's already morning and he's had another insomnia episode, he can drink black tea and have some more energy. so all in all a good helper

magnus definitely stims magically! and uses magic a lot with a lot of his other problems like sensory issues for example. a place is too loud? he can use magic to dull the noises. same for colors, etc., although i think noise might be his biggest problem. and unwanted touch, which we all know magnus canonically hates, so of course there's that too. but also like, stuck in a talk with some boring clave member and he has to stay still even tho adhd mind all over the place? hands behind his back, playing with little sparkles between his fingers that no one can see. pretty much unnoticeable. i think some of his "party tricks" like lighting up the drinks blue and shit come with this purpose. it's just a quick magic letout. also helps a lot to deal with anger or panic, which commonly come very strongly when you have c-ptsd, but he's long learnt to deal with because his survival depends on keeping himself in check and not showing vulnerability a lot of the time

he also stims with his rings which we've seen a bit of. i think this is particularly important to him when it comes to keeping himself in the present, i.e. avoiding flashback episodes, intrusive thoughts and the like

i also think parties work as coping mechanisms in particular with the c-ptsd. sometimes the overstimulation of the ambience is exactly what he needs in order to keep himself from being taken by flashbacks, intrusive thoughts, depressive episodes, etc. like he can lose himself to sensation instead of being locked by his own thoughts, enjoy the company of other people even when he is too cagey or afraid to call his friends and be vulnerable with them, and have a letout for his heightened feelings of fear or insufficiency (caused by c-ptsd) through dancing in particular. it's pretty much canon that magnus uses dancing as a way to cope (see his scene with dot) so i don't see why a party isn't a good place to let out this kind of steam and self express without feeling too vulnerable at the same time

which is not to say that magnus doesn't genuinely enjoy parties, obviously he does. but coping mechanisms are frequently things that we do enjoy, so much so that they bring us comfort and strength when we need. it doesn't mean you only do these things because of your trauma. just that they can help with it

but there is ALSO his friends because look, we all know magnus isn't exactly winning prizes for his ability to ask for help, but the way he talked to alec about suicidal ideation and talking to someone if things get that bad obviously comes from experience, because when things get this bad there is really nothing else that works. and magnus has a lot of trouble with it - probably can only ever really ask for help when things get As Bad As They Possibly Could - but he does know he has a place with his friends when he needs. sometimes he doesn't even really open his mouth - just shows up at ragnor's, or, less commonly, catarina's (because she's busy with her job as a nurse and shit while ragnor does nothing but sit on his ass and be british all day), and ragnor takes a look at him and nods and magics another seat for him and magnus flops down. and ragnor waits to see if magnus is feeling like saying anything but if he's not, they just keep each other company as they do their things and ragnor serves him some tea. and it's nice and it works

as for raphael! definitely stimming all the time as well, and we know he self harms, which i think technically counts as a coping mechanism? coping mechanisms aren't inherently healthy or good djdndi so we have that for sure

and then just like, i think playing with his hands is something he does a lot in particular, like magnus, just keeping his hands behind his back and playing with them, or in his pockets and stuff. i think he "dissociates" a bit sometimes too. like sometimes full on dissociates but other times i think he just goes blank on the outside and inside is like, thinking about rosa or about food or his hyperfixations (astronomy? astronomy) so he doesn't have to be present and deal with whatever's happening. particularly useful with camille, because there are some things he has to do that he just wouldn't stand otherwise

and again canonically magnus, we have seen that. when rapha was tortured he didn't go to his clan, he went straight to magnus'. like yeah, magnus could heal him, but also, rapha stayed. he was still there chilling by the time simon came around. so he definitely goes to magnus when things get rough, and again whether it's to talk or just be with someone it helps a lot. i think raphael is pretty touchy with the people he trusts (book stans go away, yes i know book raphael is too edgy for feelings but i don't care and i'm not talking about him) and canonically so is magnus. and magnus' loft is one of the places he still feels safe to do that, it's his dad's place after all and definitely his home while camille is clan leader/in the first few months or years of him being clan leader

so like they can just cuddle or hug or be under a blanket together or rapha can rest his head on magnus' shoulder, or magnus can rest his on top of rapha's, and it's great. and he can talk about how he feels or be in silence, too

i also think dancing and listening to music are things he does to cope, possibly something he picked up from magnus. like sometimes he doesn't know how to let out steam and putting on a song and aggressively dancing is the only way he can channel feelings he doesnt know what to do with very well otherwise

also i think specifically with his grief over his family and other things he's lost, i think buying things and making little homages works. like making a scrapbook of his pictures with rosa, or the fucking whole ass CAR he literally doesn't need with the "ave rosa" plaque. i feel like raphael rarely buys things for himself unless they remind him of rosa, sunlight, guadalajara, etc., because it just helps with this constant grief he carries for them that he never really addresss lmao im fine

i think his charity work also plays that role. like yes raphael cares about others, of course he does, but he's also a whole ass catholic so i think "good deeds" like charity make him feel like he's just... doing something to ease his own monstrosity. feel more human, less guilty, less grieving. and also get some of the things he misses (like food) and some contact with people outside of the shadow world and also with other latines in general that he misses, you know? it's a relatively safe and familiar space that also helps ease his guilt for abandoning his family and becoming a monster a little bit, and just feel useful and occupied since he has so much time in his hands now and most of it is occupied obeying someone he hates. man, he needs so much therapy

but also like in the future as u know i think that he turns the dumort completely around, starts having plants and animals in the place, just makes it more upbeat and feel more like a family to all the vampires and improve their relations and it does him SO much good. both as a project and just as a ways of providing himself a better, more supportive environment, because the whole sterile thing they have going on fucking sucks. they deserve a lively and nice environment where they feel like a they have a home and i think it does wonders for EVERYONE'S mental health, particularly rapha's. and then of course cooking/taki's, and his partners join his support network too :)

as for cat, i think she throws herself into work to forget about her problems, feel useful, and just, cope. nurses work long hours and she seems to work particularly hard and i think this serves her the purpose of keeping her mind occupied from her issues. i also think it helps her feel more grounded/connected with the world, aka deal with the immortality angst. which sounds kinda paradoxal cuz she's probably watching ppl die with some kind of frequency, but like... she's also keeping in touch with new ppl, with discoveries in the medical field, she always has something to work on. it helps her feel like she is still a meaningful part of the world, instead of lost in time. and to give herself purpose too

but it's also not always healthy like when you are overworking yourself as an avoidance mechanism.... thats gonna get to u eventually. and cat needs a break and care as much as everyone else. i think again magnus and ragnor serve important roles in that sense, just people she can go to. remember the way cat showed up at magnus' and magnus was immediately massaging her shoulders? we stan

so they definitely take care of her in that sense. she also seemed pretty comfortable at lorenzo's party despite it all, so i think she also enjoys parties from time to time, although not as loud and clubby as, say, pandemonium. but cocktail parties or just a party at someone's house where she gets to dance and unwind and gossip with her friends a little bit? nice. i think cat is very sociable and misses not having ppl around which is also partially why she likes being a nurse - you get to know ppl pretty well in that job - but she also obviously needs lighter environments and she does well with groups of ppl even if she isn't a party animal the same way magnus is

and generally i think she enjoys anything sensorially pleasant like... drawing herself a bath, candles, going to get a massage from an actual professional every once in a while... i bet her house is full of incenses and always has some music playing (can be soft or can be upbeat, depends on her mood) but just generally the more pleasant sensations the better. food too

ohhh i bet she gardens!! it's so great to put her mind to rest after such an exhausting work and again the connection you feel to plants is very real. it's also nice because many plants live for a very long time (unlike most pets) so she can have them around and form long lasting relationships with them, you know? also, gardening is always useful for a warlock

and hhh ok i think i don't have any thoughts for ragnor? we know very little about him and I'm not sure what to make of him mental health-wise. also im tired and this is long, so jdbdidn maybe ill add more stuff if i feel inspired

i guess rather than ogre he’s a vampire which is a little more subtle—perhaps instead of becoming a vampire at night she’s a werewolf? so downworlders in general rather than specifically a vampire? not quite loyal to the original story (as she became an ogre rather than just “a fairy tale creature” for a reason) but not bad—although the implication she’d like become a wolf forever isn’t great. I mean I’m sure you can play with that so it’s more like at night she becomes a werewolf—ability to transform into a wolf, eyes flash green sometimes, can do feats of supernatural strength and so on, but like. still. hm

but like ok look the point is maia is in this tower and it’s not that she’s weak, but she can’t fight a dragon on her own and she’s been taught her whole life she was supposed to be saved, get a prince charming, etc. she’s quite well read and also very isolated and probably claustrophobic as fuck now. i’m not sure how to combine her characterization with fiona’s in a way that stays loyal to her character but still makes sense in the au tbh.... [thinking emoji im too lazy to google and paste here]

and like raphael, rather than wanting everyone out of his home, perhaps is specifically trying to help his community and get more structure? obviously magnus wants to help—still can’t believe I’m making him donkey but the dragon thing is too good to pass up, although I’m basically going to completely change his role as donkey because I physically can’t handle making him the comic relief literal ass, but like, he’s had his own issues and also wants to help get the land to set up a home for everyone and help people, so he’s travelling with raphael and is like “smol angery vampire who is willing to slap a dragon to death to save his community and specifically take care of his sister? im adopting him immediately”

perhaps for shenanigans and I have. oh my god this is ridiculous but any shrek au is inherently ridiculous so I’m making this twi malec now. consider this: twi magnus on the road literally just getting the hang of his magic after an encounter with a rogue crazy princess who’s stab-happy and needed some magical help, so it’s waking up and he’s just getting in all these crazy hijinks with raphael where hypothetically he’s powerful enough to just zap them there, zoink out the dragon and win, but he can’t fucking control it so sure he can turn all the knights’ armor pink or sneeze and make it start to rain (which is a LITTLE SCARY) but like, other than randomly floating or random bursts of managing to control it in high pressure situations, it’s like. not that useful. again i can’t be clear enough he isn’t really donkey it’s just an excuse to have him travelling with raphael. i guess simon would be donkey if i were going for serious but then they’d both be in love with maia so--

also, twi magnus and raphael? fun interaction time. especially since I’m still basically doing canon maiaphael and not trying to mess with twi, there, so like. he’s kind of trying to get out of his shell more but he cares deeply about raphael (and. well. everyone) already and he juts wants to help

and then he meets the dragon guarding maia’s tower and is immediately like….. damn……… no not getting distracted by this

but the dragon, twi alec, is just like HEY THERE PRETTY BOY ;D and like. they don’t even have to fight the dragon raphael just. walks past while they make heart eyes at each other and when alec realizes they’re walking away with maia he’s just like “ok whatever but magnus you better come back and visit sweetheart I’m gonna make you the prettiest necklace and I can find you some old books on magic, I’m sure I’ve got some in my hoard somewhere—”

meanwhile on the way back magnus is kind of pining after alec but also getting a stronger handle on his magic

and raphael is getting to know the princess

and maia is getting to know raphael (she was NOT expecting a vampire and a warlock, but they’re both incredibly nice and she was REALLY REALLY BORED in that tower) and just like…. you know,,,,,,, romance begins to bloom mayhaps

now I don’t know how to like really get across that one of their main commonalities is community, because in this scenario maia wouldn’t have a pack—unless we change canon even more and I’m just not going to rn, but put a pin in that

so like, maybe she really does care about her people and she super is a people person, but she hasn’t had many chances to show that because she’s been fucking locked up and that’s kind of messed with her you know

god you know I want to include jordan and camille here but I wouldn’t even know how to—I imagine jordan could be prince charming but he doesn’t come in until later and ehhh

so like raphael (and also magnus) are really helping her with that

and she’s also helping him be less closed off and… angry isn’t quite right, but like. she kind of helps both of them open up tbh. not to erase magnus’s friends but also I love a good magnus and maia friendship? but like she’s not afraid to start conversations or ask them questions or listen to their stories (and they listen to hers which is nice because she’s been talking mostly to walls and stuffed animals for a while now and books are great but it’s not the same)

and like she’s free not to have to act like a perfect delicate princess, but she’s also free to be vulnerable and soft too you know

Written confessions: a Good Omens headcanon

I recently had the opportunity to read this fanfiction, in which Crowley had a British pop band in the 1990s and wrote songs based on his own anxieties about Aziraphale. It sounded so appropriate to his character as a whole that I began to think... what similar could the angel do to vent his own anguish over an impossible romance with a demon?

Well, he's a bookseller, right? Why not write a book?

Aziraphale likes to read, obviously, but that doesn't mean it's good with written words. I honestly can't see him sitting at the table writing an entire novel, risking being caught by his superiors, producing a written proof of a fraternization that shouldn't happen, or forcing himself to imagine his whole story as one of someone else, as many brilliant authors do without hesitation.

So why not dictate a book instead?

As I live in Brazil, I'll use common elements of my reality here, one of them being the great popularity of Spiritism in my land. Spiritism is a religion / doctrine (read about it here) originated in France that deals with the evolution of the spirit through incarnations, and books dictated by disembodied spirits (and psychographed by mediums) are particularly well received in my country. As a collector of first editions and misspelled Bibles, it wouldn't surprise me if Aziraphale, at some point in the 19th century, had come across Allan Kardec's "Bible According to Spiritism," even though Spiritism wasn't so well received in the UK.

Or maybe even Heaven itself could designate Aziraphale to keep an eye on this new movement, which meets various precepts of the Catholic Church, and the angel spends a season in France watching the maturation and establishment of the fascinating Spiritist doctrine, which goes on to help as many anguished souls as possible on their way toward the light. He meets mediums, teachers, and spirit guides, who recognize in the angel an enormous weight without identifying exactly the cause. And, obviously, they offer help.

He hesitates, of course, but the kindness and willingness are a trigger for his weary soul, needy of at least one friend who understands his problem (he and Crowley parted ways after 1862, after all). And then he vented for hours, days, for the first time in 6000 years without feeling constrained by the fact that he was a supernatural entity... weren't they all there?

After a long (and emotional) outburst, one of the guiding spirits makes the kind suggestion: "Why not turn your incredible life story into a book? We have several mediums willing to write everything you narrate about all your millennia with your friend, and you don't even have to sign your real name! It'll help put your mind in place and consider everything you two experienced in a new light."

The angel considers the offer with great care for days. There was a real possibility of being discovered (and obviously punished) by Heaven if any of them knew that he had freely given his flaming sword, his encounters with the demon, and - most seriously of all - their Arrangement. He would need to think very carefully about which facts could be told and which should be omitted... But nothing terrified him more than the prospect of being discovered by Crowley in person, having his feelings revealed, being rejected, blackmailed, end up alone again...

Then he remembers, with a bittersweet feeling, that neither Heaven nor Crowley are interested in books, so neither side would even dream about the existence of such records if Aziraphale were cautious enough.

Then Aziraphale accepts. And, for several sessions, he sits next to a gentle middle-aged woman and discusses all the encounters and mismatches between him and Crowley, mindful to create a pseudonym for both of them. What should be a single book turns into a trilogy, titled "From the Garden to the World," and is one of the best-selling Spiritist books of the following years.

Dictating books doesn't solve his problems, of course, but brings some peace of mind that the angel no longer knew, and helps him focus for the next decades ahead without Crowley. And when his stability is threw off balance in 1941, he once more seeks the same guiding spirit and writes a new tale, published as "Reflections on Ruins" in France.

The intensity of narration filled with repressed emotions and the transgressive love of protagonists on opposite sides in a tense period in history wins the hearts of millions of readers around the world, and the four works signed by the spirit Erza Fell are translated into six different languages. Always in touch with spiritual friends made during his time in France, Aziraphale receives through them hundreds of letters from people who have found comfort and answers to their own love difficulties reading his. The courage of these strangers helps him reinforce his own courage to go against his own principles and hand over a small tartan thermos to Crowley filled with holy water in 1967...

Crowley doesn't discover the existence of such books by the blissful fact that he never goes into bookstores on his own, except when he's looking for some specific first edition for Aziraphale... who strives to keep the demon away from any spiritist book that might cross his path. This changes, however, during the period when both are focused on their own roles as influences for little Warlock.

Mrs. Dowling has a weakness for historical novels, especially narratives involving soul mates and rematches through the centuries. On a visit to the US, she returns with all the books written by the angel, and spends days talking about the story to Nanny Astoreth, how the protagonists seemed deeply in love with each other, how many hours she had spent sobbing while reading the fourth book. ... "You need to read to understand", she says, pushing the first volume into the nanny's hands, "I need at least one person in this country who has also read these books to chat about them!"

Crowley sighs, accepts the book politely, and buries it deep in his carpet bag, staying there for the next few years until the eve of Armageddon. Fidgeting in his apartment, he looks for things to distract his mind, and finds the old bag of his nanny days tucked into the back of the closet. There weren't exactly many things there, just a lamp, a large mirror, extra pairs of shoes, a tape measure ... and a crumpled book that would make Aziraphale shiver.

The demon laughs at the cover, two hands holding an apple at the same time (gosh, how many memories ...), and the author's name - or would it be co-author? How did that work in spiritist books? - sounded curiously familiar, but the smile fades from his face when his eyes are drawn to a specific paragraph, right in the first pages:

"I never thought too much about the implications of having a demon under my wing, we were probably the only two beings capable of dialogue at that time in Eden, and the first storm was too long, too cold, to pass by myself, even if it meant passing with a vile serpent. The same serpent I hoped it would never leave my side for the next six thousand years. "

Crowley swallows hard, feeling his mouth as dry as a desert. This description invoked memories too old, too intimate, to be described by someone who hadn't lived them. But Aziraphale wouldn't have had the audacity to write his own experiences on Earth so openly, would he?

Well, there’s only one way to find out: reading the book.

 In the end, Aziraphale had indeed the audacity to write their story from his own point of view, the bastard.

It was odd, reviewing millennia of memories through someone else's eyes, but at least it helped him to understand the angel's attitude on multiple occasions and, even more surprising, the impact their fraternization had on his worldview (not enough, apparently, but bigger than he expected).

Bustling, Crowley finishes the first book in one hour and set out on a rampant search for the next three books in London, with no patience to order them online (who could say the world would still be there after Saturday?). Dozens of bookstores later, the demon found the only specialized bookshop in the region and, after intense negotiation with the seller (Why were all tallow owners so greedy???), he finally sits in his apartment with the stack of books on one side and two bottles of whiskey on the other.

Many hours go by, and two bottles aren't enough for Crowley to continue absorbing so much information (he summons other three), reliving scenes he'd like to forget ...

"I should never have used the term 'fraternize', but what else could I say with Heaven and Hell watching us, while the only constant being in this mutating world suddenly asks me for something that could erase him from all the planes of existence?"

(Oh, that afternoon in 1862, what he wouldn’t give to go back in time and cover his own mouth before saying that hateful "I don't need you"... He needed, God knows well how much he needed his angel and mourned over their distance through the following 80 years!)

It isn't any easier to read what comes after that day. The loneliness, the desperate need for something that would made Aziraphale less empty finding echo in Crowley's chest, an ache of empathy that a real demon would never feel in their eternal life. He finishes "Reflections on Ruins" with a sigh, laying on the ground and staring at the ceiling for minutes that looked like hours to him. The world hasn't changed, they were still one step away from Armageddon and the Antichrist was still missing, Heaven and Hell were just waiting for their moment tho start the war they longed for millennia.

But all he could think was how much he wanted to look at Aziraphale's big blue eyes once more.

Crowley inhales deeply ans sobers up before picking up his phone and dialing the number of the bookshop. He doesn't have a plan, but he can think of anything on his way to the bandstand.

*insert it’s been 84 years gif here*. Terribly sorry it took me so long to answer this, kind anon! Thank you so much for this ask tho :).4. Your current campaign. My current campaign is also my first one ever. Long story short, my friends and I got hooked on Critical Role last year and this sparked our interest in DnD. Speaking solely for myself, I’ve played pen and paper games before (I know a few of us did, too), but did not have much luck when it came to finding a steady group. Fast forward to almost one year later, we are now six players, one first-time DM who is utterly brilliant at breaking our hearts creating his own world and making us suffer (ok, we really don’t need him for that). All of our characters are squishy magic users (except for our rogue who’s also squishy and only starting to learn bits and pieces of magic): our party consists of one bard, one rogue, one sorcerer, one warlock and two druids (one of them is played by me). If chaotic stupid were an alignment, ¾ of our party would have it (me included): our sorceress is in possession of our shared braincell 99% of the time. It started with the four us (two friends joined later on) traveling together. In our first session our bard managed to get herself cursed (by touching an obviously cursed dragon statue), but that was only the beginning. A very real dragon appeared, destroying our means of transportation and killing almost every NPC except for three (I think). Oh, the adjoining forest also almost completely burned to the ground. How we made it out alive? Sheer dumb luck.You might think it got better from there on? Nope. Currently, we’re stuck in the hometown of our rogue, where she was a wanted person. Our bard’s curse gets worse by the day, other people are infected as well and we’re trying to solve this mystery if we don’t get sidetracked by (mostly accidentally) wreacking havoc on our surroundings (chaotic stupid, remember?)But in all seriousness: I love our campaign, characters, NPCs, my fellow players and our DM with all my heart. It’s been a wild ride so far and idk what we will unleash on ourselves the further we delve into this story, but I wouldn’t wanna have it any other way? Not to sound sappy on main: but the entire journey? When you begin you might think this will just be a fun activity to do with your friends, but it turns into so much more, and that’s wonderful.12. so thalia here is the daughter of one @adriianvl and a past life of @charlottesryder​, one of two kids.

when adrian “died” and fled his kingdom, charlotte had just recently become pregnant and was still unaware. with the help of one of adrain’s knights who wasn’t terribly loyal to the new king, charlotte returned to her own family’s kingdom, where she would end up giving birth to twins -  Vincent Æðelwine and Thalia Adria.

@rcvcnaant​ & @thclcssc​ are honorary godparents even though neither of them knew, bc charlotte was soft for adrian’s people

charlotte’s brother, who had no children of his own, took them as his heirs. 

she’s only been in love once 

she was 14 when her soldier ( who was about six years her senior ) first caught her eye - already spending most of her days training with the soldiers and spending very little time acting like a "proper princess" as her grandmother continued to point out, she was fairly certain she'd never take a husband. at the time he had spent more time flirting with the maids than paying attention to the princess, which further affirmed her belief that she'd remain alone. she was 16 and had nearly given up on romance and simply settled for friendship, the two were often paired off as sparring partners bc many of the others were either "afraid to hurt the princess" or had lost to her and their pride wouldn't let them do it again. it would often happen that one of the two couldn't sleep and would sneak around to wake the other up for more practice and they'd end up training until they passed out in the stables. on one such night while they were sparring he stole a kiss - and then proceeded to use her shock against her and win the round - it became a more common thing and turned into the two sneaking off and stealing kisses they never went all the way tho, he didn't want to take advantage. she was 18 and all of her grandmother's attempts to find a "suitable" husband for her had failed ( no one wanted a wife that could best them in a fight eoijdsa ) when her soldier went to charlotte to ask for her blessing in marrying thalia - she outranked him by that point, and he'd asked the king as well, and he'd saved up his wages so he'd have something to his name, and was going to surprise thalia ( when she returned from a hunting trip with her brother and a few other soldiers ) with a simple ring if given their blessing. unfortunately their kingdom was once again attacked before she could return, her soldier cut down on the battlefield and left to die. charlotte personally went through his things with the news reached the castle, finding the ring and a half finished speech he'd been working on. to this day thalia wears the band on a chain around her neck, long enough to be hidden beneath her shirt.

on their 19th birthday vincent took the throne and lia was knighted, half acting as an adviser to her brother when battle was at hand ( which was more often than you’d think )

through out their lives their uncle ( adrian’s brother ), and later his heir, would stage attacks against their kingdom, in a move to show that they were still the top player.

thalia was also training to work as a sort of assassin, training with the soldiers and knights but also working with another trainer that had seen potential in her whenever she had a bit of spare time.

she had a group of about five knights that were more hers than her brother’s - they’d fight for their king but they’d die for their knight princess.

she was gravely wounded in a battle and left by the enemy to die of her wounds. she half-wished to die in hopes that her love would be waiting for her - unfortunately, she’s not that lucky.

she was turned by a vampire that pushed her to give into darkness, and the two of them along with her knights ( who had also been turned ) managed to infiltrate her father’s family’s kingdom and completely destroy it.

they tore through guards and soldiers and any that stood against them, and by the end of the fighting flames burned around them. as the flames grew higher lia came back to herself, heart breaking as she stared in horror at what they had done. she ordered her men to help anyone they could - women and children, anyone that hadn’t died - only to be cut off as the vampire that had turned them snapped the neck of a child and dropped the body at her feet and said “to what end, little princess? so they may grow healthy and strong and tell stories of the demons that did this? you still wear your brother’s colors, spare a single life and you will bring ruination to your home.”

she’s still haunted by that night, and several other terrible deeds he forced her to commit before she finally escaped his grasp.

she stayed with him for nearly three decades, him reminding her that she needed him. she knew little of this so-called ‘shadowworld’ and didn’t know how to survive in it. she gritted her teeth and bore his abuse until one day he attempted to push too far - she was lovely, he wanted her, she owed him. 

he’d managed to tear through her clothing before she got ahold of one of his fingers and bit it clean off, calling to her men the second his hand left her mouth. while he was older and stronger six pissed knights vs one man meant the odds were not in his favor. 

the six of them trapped him in a cave, five waiting while one went to find a warlock willing to seal it so he couldn’t leave - he’s been there for well over 300 years, surviving on rats and biding his time.

lia and her knights stuck together for a while after that, but eventually parted ways - they still get together every few years to catch up, though in more recent years two have stopped showing up lia is worried but hopes they just moved on oefijds

she came into possession of her father’s sword and ring about 100 years ago when one of her nephews tried to sell them for a bit of cash. she stole them before he could bc hell nah fam.

she knows about her mother’s curse and is actually in town looking for her - little does she know her dad’s in town too, along with the woman that she looked up to from all her mothers stories when she was a girl.

a small side-note: when startled she has a terrible habit of turning to dust/ash. pls don’t spook her, and pls don’t sweep her up. she’ll return to normal soon enough.

A non-Clark-y Kara would have been so badass 😂 In the comics and e.g. Young Justice she did always come across as the "tougher" of the two...🤔 Ohh, imagine what those Karamel dynamics could have been like🤣🤣 (Tho their idiotic-arguing-puppy-love is just heartwarming 😂) 

Oh, I'm not even gonna argue. I love Kara, but this is one argument on which iI will NEVER even slightly agree with her. I mean, you already pionted out more than enough points for why, but the fact she didn't bother any other alien (e.g. from the alien bar) about how they're selfish for not superheroing or that she didn't consider she herself spent all but what? A year? on earth without superheroing and even Kal/Clark didn't always just makes her whole point pathetic... Same with the Jeremiah situation when once again Mon was made out as wrong and bad for what? Being right? Being cautious? Just no. And nobody ever apologized!!!😑

I don't get what they have against Kara being in therapy anyway, like Young Justice spent a whole episode giving the Heroes therapy sessions to deal with their trauma/traumatic experience...

Naruto, sigh. Funny stroy, in the begining i liked SasuxSaku but with time and how the story unfold, i started hated them. I really liked Sasuke and imo, he should have or died honorable death or stayed asexual and with no fam. Last Uchiha, no more curse and more people hunting for them. End of story. And seriosuly, I hate the "big breasted fangirl gets the dude and becomes the perfect waifu aka wet dream of every dude in Japan" (a big generalization, but you get my point). That's why I hate IchiHime ==' tbh, the same goes for NaruHina, but whatever.

BTS Fanfic Recommendations

Ok, so I don’t know if it’s considered weird to hype up other people when you write fan fiction and basically turn the attention away from yourself but IDK because I’ve been dying to share all my favorite fanfics with you guys! I hope you enjoy this, most (if not all) of these will be on AO3! A few will be from here, here being Tumblr. I’m such a dork, omg don’t look at me! But read! My thoughts — omg, where do I begin? God this book was so beautiful. The character development! The plot! The ROMANCE! AH! It was such a perfect work of art! I never felt bored like at all and normally I get bored pretty easy on long chaptered books like this! She’s also getting the book published! (With different character names obviously and it’s like super edited.) I don’t know what else to say other than GO READ THIS!!! SHE IS THE QUEEN OF YOONMIN!! YOU WONT BE DISAPPOINTED!!!

Hidden Omega

Pairing — Namjoon Centric

Rating — Explicit (there’s smut in this so tread carefully)

Description — At 21 Namjoon still hasn't presented leaving him as a dud, with the BTS pack having their own issues and not treating him like a real member a tragic event forces Namjoon's body to present as an omega. Is it really too late for BTS to win Namjoon's heart? Or will one of the 4 other packs steal it instead? Or maybe a darkhorse will appear.

My Thoughts — this book is great! Not only is it super long (over eighty chapters) and still being updated, but the character development is super refreshing. Forewarning though, the author has said that there is a good chance Namjoon won’t end up in the Bangtan Pack but a different one, and originally that made me upset, but with the way she painted the story I actually don’t care what Pack he ends up with; their all beautiful and it’s an amazing book! Lots of drama and angst for you angst lovers out there!

No Spell can Cure Shyness

Author — MissterMaia (seriously — I love her)

Pairing — Yoonmin, mentioned Namjin, Side Taekook

Rating — teens and up

Description — Yoongi really doesn’t expect the witchboy who sent him an accidental text to be the prettiest boy he's ever seen in all his life. Or the nicest. Or the kindest. Or just the best in every possible way. Painfully shy and (un)smooth as he is, Yoongi decides the best way to approach this Jimin person is in the form of a cat. A cat who can't talk. Great plan, Yoongi.

My Thoughts — The FLUFF!!! I can’t even begin to describe how much I love this book! All of this woman’s works are masterpieces that need to be appreciated! Yoongi is so shy it’s hilarious and he has the most extra reactions to like everything — and and I LOVE!!! YOU need to read it! Stop whatever your doing and go read it!

Saltation

Pairing — Yoonmin, side Taekook, and Namjin

Description — Jimin had grown up watching his mother sort the point-oh-one percent beta defaults into the alpha-omega communities, but that doesn't make being a part of the statistic much easier. Instead, all hell breaks loose.

My Thoughts — This book is the one of the best a/b/o fics I have ever read in my entire life! Alpha’s and Omega’s live separate from Beta’s due to different instincts and Jimin was born in the beta community but presented as an omega. And it’s really funny because He keeps slipping up and doing/saying things that leave everyone else kind of like (0.0) The writing is fantastic! The characters are absolutely riveting as is the plot and the AUTHOR KEEPS TEADING ME ON TWITTER ABOUT HER NEXT UPDATE AND HOLY HELL IM BREAKING DOWN OVER HERE!!!

My Thoughts — this book! *wheezes from laughter* is so funny! Jimin is trying to make it to Yoongi and Hoseok’s wedding (which he is kind of dreading because Hoseok is trying to set him up with his own best man) and he gets stuck in a blizzard and boom there’s Taehyung! A renowned author that decided to live in his van and travel the world while writing his new book. This book was so funny you guys! I was dying, there was a smut scene and it was pretty great. The whole book was phenomenal and I loved it so much. Because I have literally no self control I’m gonna add a sneak peak.

NU ABO: A Memoir by Park Jimin

Omega’s are really rare and Jimin is so against the stereotypes put on omega’s and he is CONVINCED that Jungkook thinks of him as a tiny child that needs protection and he’s such a little ball of rage and god it’s so funny and he’s so sarcastic and furious that he’s being forced into this cutesy image (that he refuses to admit he likes) and it’s so cute and hilarious.

In Your Eyes

My Thoughts — I originally read this because I was trying to expand my view on what a dom!Jimin would look like for my Bunny Breath book but I actually really liked this a lot. The characterization was good, it wasn’t like most smut oneshots where the characters go at with like literally no push and seems to be mildly dubious consent. This was well thought out and I enjoyed reading it.

A Sheep in Wolf’s Clothing

My Thoughts — I read this book because I’m a hoe for Junghope. But it’s really good! I remember feeling mildly dubious about it until I got to this really funny scene when Jungkook (a beta) asks Jimin (an omega)if he knows any alpha’s that wouldn’t be weirded out bu having sex with a beta and Jimin’s just like “I know three but your not gonna like it.” And after that it’s a hilarious conversation of them deciding which of their friends would be the least cringe worthy for Jungkook to sleep with. Jimin admits that Hoseok is great and it goes from there. BUT THERE IS A PLOT LINE!!! ITS NOT JUST SMUT!!

Unfamiliars

My Thoughts — this is so cute! Yoongi is just minding his own business when he accidentally steps into a warlocks spell pentagram and gets turned into a cat by Jin, he positively freaks the fuck out runs away, gets picked up by Hobi and things go from there. It’s so cute and soft and ima go read it BYE!!!!

Bad at Love

Description —Yoongi was pretty sure he was straight. Pretty sure (And not remotely interested in love or Jung Hoseok.) My Thoughts — this book is full of so much emotion and general truth. I love it so much, I cried several times when reading and admittedly geared up at the end. Hoseok was so sweet and patient and he had to literally teach Yoongi that it was ok to trust him and crap now I’m crying.

Take Me to the Edge

My Thoughts— I love this book. Yoongi is such an angry little bean and Hoseok literally just wants to make him happy — the Maknae Line are little shits but what’s new there? This whole book is amazing. I wish I could find a good Vmin/Vhope/Minjoon/Sugakookie book like this. *cries*

It has a happy ending to so win win.

- battle of the Twilight Gap happens, and Roksana watches as Guardians die in great numbers. for a moment she wonders if this’ll be how the City falls before she pours all her strength into her Wards. if the Fallen wish to take the City then they’ll have to go through her first

- Ronin is always on a ledge above her, and there’s a new Warlock, calls himself Ira, and he’s a crackshot with a sniper rifle, though doesn’t offer much in terms of other skills

- while not necessarily glad that Shaxx went against orders, she’s proud that his tactics worked. she’s always known he was more than just a loud Titan who really liked hitting things. (she said this away from Saladin, not wishing to add fuel to the fire between the two of them)

- the City is safe, and Roksana allows herself to leave for longer patrols with Apollo and Hemlock. there are worlds to experience and discover, but her heart always leads all three of them home

- she is among the Guardians in the Battle of Burning Lake, disturbed by the Hive and fearful of what they could do to the City if the Vanguard isn’t careful. she’s glad that Shaxx shares this sentiment

- Sadik and Ronin return to the City with a Warlock in tow, his name is Jai, and she watches as Apollo practically adopts the kid

- in order for Shaxx to study Hive blades, Roksana takes swords from Knights she kills out in the field

- The City is unprepared to retake the moon, Roksana knows this in her bones, but she goes anyway because Guardians will need a wall, and she is immovable

- she saves less than she wanted, and watches as more Guardians die than she ever has before. the numbers stack up to be worse than the Gap, or when raid teams would be wiped out, and it hurts because she couldn’t protect them

- Crota is a thing of nightmares, and in the retreat, Roksana physically picks up Guardians to and throws them to get them out of the way, to make them move. she is one of the last to leave the moon, picking up the rear like she would when she would protect people before the City

- Apollo is put through a reset that makes him Apollo-99, and she must relearn how to befriend this new Apollo

- (she watches Hemlock struggle with this new Apollo, and it hurts)

- (Jai struggles with him too, but perhaps it’s a little easier for him because he hasn’t known Apollo for so long

- she is heartbroken to learn that Vell Tarlowe was part of an unauthorized raid team on the moon, and resigns herself to mourning another friend

- life goes on, and so does she. Apollo-99 finally gives in to her extended hands of friendship after she explained that she knew that he was not Apollo-98 and didn’t expect him to be. she is wants to know this new Apollo

- (Apollo-99 is different from Apollo-98, but not by much. he still burned with radiances and took four or five tables in order to work on his notes, he still helped new Warlocks interested in becoming sunsingers, and he still looked at Hemlock like the hunter hung the stars just for him. it tickled Roksana pink)

- Roksana’s not so surprised that Ira gets Rasputin running (because if anyone could do it, he could. other than Jai, maybe), she’s more surprised that he brought a brand new hunter with him

- really, she’s impressed at how much shit Ira and Guardian are getting themselves into. it certainly gives Apollo something to rant about

- Eris returns to the Tower, and Roksana feels sympathy for the lone survivor, but something tells her that Eris would only take it as pity

- but this is her chance. her chance to do what Vell Tarlowe could not, and kill Crota for all he’s done to the Guardians

- between her, Ronin, and Jai, they complete what’s necessary to descend into the Hellmouth. the team is: Roksana, Ronin, Jai, Sadik, Apollo, and Hemlock

- the raid wears on everyone. Roksana, in all her years, has never been in a place so dark for so long, but she keeps going. she is the first and last defense for her team. the Darkness will break on her shield, she wills this to happen

- Jai is disturbed by the time the raid is over and Crota is dead. Roksana allows herself to cry in Vell Tarlowe’s memory before she picks Jai up by his collar and carries him away. she’ll let Apollo, Sadik, and Ronin take care of him when they return to the Tower

- victory is bittersweet, and she sits with Eris on the night she returns. they curse the Hive and all they had taken from them. Eris, her team. Roksana, the Guardians she had known and couldn’t protect

- Ira formally introduces her to Guardian, and the constantly swaying hunter with a croaky voice and sweet demeanor makes her love them

- she sticks to patrols and bounties on earth, venus, and mars while guardians go off to the reef

- Hemlock does talk her into doing some prison challenges tho

- Oryx arrives

- she’s a little tired at this point. all this Darkness happening in rapid succession is almost too much. almost. but she is a line in the sand, and she will meet these challenges head on

- especially when Guardian is the one spear heading missions on the Dreadnaught. they had shown her their eye as it was slowly taken over, and resolved to let them and Ira face Oryx alone

- the team to kill Oryx consists of herself, Ira (to replace Jai), Guardian, Apollo, Hemlock, and Sadik

- if she has to do anything with the Taken again, it would be too damn soon

- she is among the Guardians who gets infested with tech mites, but handles being stuck in the Tower better than most

- Saladin contacts her. he needs her help with SIVA, and she agrees. she doesn’t regret leaving with the Iron Lords the first time (anymore), this will be the well timed vengeance for the old Lords, and she will be the first fist against them

- Ira tags along with her after he tells her that he had seen the House of Devils on mars but didn’t say anything

- then she thought, what the hell, might as well bring Guardian because they haven’t done anything in a while

- between the three of them, the Plaguelands aren’t difficult

- and she finds herself actually having conversations with Saladin again. there’s something there in those conversations, but she doesn’t pursue them. not yet anyway

- Roksana presents him with Jolder’s helmet, scarred by burnt SIVA, and dons her title of Lady once more

- she teases him about all his brooding, tells him that Zavala does the exact same thing, and grins when she catches him smirk

- it’s not much, but it’s something

- Roksana leads the raid team to kill Aksis with Guardian, Jai, Sadik, Hemlock, and Ira

- she absolutely pushes Ira off the road

- for the first time in what feels like forever, the City is safe, and she has succeeded in her duty. she couldn’t ask for anything more

- and then she’s crushed by the Red Legion, but people need her once again even without her Light and she refuses to go down

fionn is prolly currently my most developed character from it. he’s an elf, which is fairly rare, and a magic user, which is rarer. he doesn’t care tho. he’s an ex-soldier who deserted after some very bad stuff happened, and he’s just trying to keep his head down. the god of luck and fate took a shine to him tho, so that’s not going too well. he uses his magic to make people think he’s much better at playing music than he is, but he could do Very cool things. he won’t tho

sabre is also an elf, but she’s a thief and very happy about it. she’s tiny and literally always ready to fight. she’ll fight anyone. she’ll Win against anyone. don’t fight sabre she jut doesn’t stop. she’s got a pretty strict Code tho, and won’t steal from anyone who can’t afford it, or fight anyone who can’t fight back. technically steals to give to the poor but also keeps a lot. she worked for that ill gotten gold!! she’s one of the two people who got “chosen” by the twin gods of the hunt, which she’s pretty stoked about. she’s got a tattoo honoring one of the twins

zarifa is the captain of an as-yet unnamed ship, and a totally legitimate merchant sailor. no pirates here absolutely not haha what’s that officer nope no illegitimate goods either, trust her. she’s got a good heart but also she’s pretty practical, and ensuring her own survival and the survival of her crew trumps morals every time. she’s the “chosen” of the god of the sea, which is an incredibly mixed bag

sylvie pike is zarifa’s first mate, but not nearly as professional. she likes to have fun, and insists on dragging zarifa with her. she’s got a much thicker accent than any other member of the crew, and makes it impenetrably thicker when she wants to be difficult. she’s not as good at overcoming her conscience as zarifa is

billie shaw is possibly my oldest current oc, holy shit. they’re kind of the odd job person aboard the ship, and also sing shanties and (badly) play the accordion. has a big big soft spot for kids. also hates shoes. what the fuck billie. put some boots on you ridiculous human being

sara tillman is possibly the only ordinary person on board the ship. she’s the ship’s doctor, despite being easily the youngest person aboard, and despite having only ever operated on her family’s farm prior to being hired. she’s got like ten siblings and loves all of them very very much
