It's that special time once again, to show your heart and spread the love to all you care for~💕💝💕🤗And this year, I would like to take opportunity to dedicate my annual Valentine to my newest OTP, Smiling Critter DogDay x my OC, DeerDelight~🐶☀️💘🦋🦌 I was thinking what songs would fit their ship, and one that stood out to me the most, was one I've listened to ever since I finished college, back in 2008 - 'Hikaru Michi' a.k.a 'The Shining Road', which is the second closing theme to the well-known anime, Sonic X~🎶I remember seeing a music video years ago with tender moments between Sonic and Amy Rose from the show, and that was when inspiration struck~💡💗✍️ I decided to draw DogDay and DeerDelight in the same emotional reunion with Sonic and Amy, where he promised he would never leave her ;w; But instead of a rose, I chose forget-me-nots for DogDay to give to DeerDelight. The reason, is the meaning behind them - a symbol of true love and devotion, declaring love to another and representing a promise that you will always remember them~💝 Forget-me-nots are also considered a symbol of fidelity (loyalty) and faithfulness~🫶🏻 And this is what is happening between the two adorable critters right now. With DogDay declaring his love to DeerDelight (something she had always secretly hoped and wished for~🌟🙏🏻) and vowing that he will never ever forget her, and will always be with her by her side, no matter what...~🥹To which DeerDelight emotionally yet happily accepts, as they seal their love with a tender kiss and embrace~🐶☀️💕🦋🦌

Sex and love, two bets Denji wants to take

At first, touching breasts, getting close to a girl, was a way for Denji to fill something he didn't understand. Projecting his lack of relationships, and affection, into what was visible, represented on those posters and magazines, through all those sexual images. Denji is someone who reasons through his senses, his intuitions. For him, pure physical contact was love.

When he loses Pochita for the first time, Denji doesn't immediately place his feelings in the abstract. He's sad, having just lost his family, but physically, organically and symbolically, he remains in his heart, he is his heart. It's only afterwards, as Denji experiments, that he understands the ambivalence of relationships: things don't turn out as we'd hoped, we can even have bad experiences, be violated against our will even when we were convinced we'd get a reward, a pleasant, harmless act.

Proposing a carnal act is not necessarily an act of kindness; on the contrary, it's often a way of dominating and manipulating the other person. Falling in love and sleeping together isn't as simple as cooking and eating. It's a risk before it's a pleasure.

Then there was Aki and Power. The symbol of platonic family relationships. For whom Denji didn't realize his attachment until after their loss. To the point of understanding that losing someone isn't as simple to resolve as sleeping when you're sleepy. That it follows us without solution.

Denji understood this plurality of love, he also understood that sex, or one's own body, is a currency of exchange, as his dialogue with Yoshida had shown. A body can be bruised, sex can be non-consensual. These aren't just abstract concepts, Denji doesn't think like that; if he's understood them at all, it's through his own experiences.

In chapter 127, Denji catches up with Asa, subjected to the Falling Devil, who argues that life is only pain. What Denji is trying to do is reassure her, which is not easy for him as speech is not his strong suit. But he puts himself in her place anyway, and it's one of the rare times when CSM expressly and voluntarily helps someone simply to help them, without projecting anything behind it (he wasn't supposed to see Asa anymore).

He then talks about cats and dogs, because he knows that universally they are beings that bring us happiness. But he also evokes all his traumas: ice cream (Aki), cats (Power), but above all hamburgers (representing his mourning when he gave up control of his being to Pochita). Denji evokes them all positively, yet symbolically, they are all finely chosen elements that will evoke negativity.

But in the end, Denji says he's moving on to have sex one day. I know this isn't the right way to reassure Asa, but Denji wanted to help her, to comfort her, and he did it sincerely, because he can't change what he says if it's what he thinks. Wanting sex is what a teenager wants. It's also a desire for Denji not to compartmentalize growing up and not to pay attention to his needs.

Denji is attracted by what he can touch directly, by pure sensations. So it's natural that he only talks about sex. That's not to say he'll reduce his girlfriend to that, he just doesn't know what envelops the act, feelings, love. He's never had a girlfriend!

Denji was abandoned by his parents, dehumanized, having grown up with a demon, behaving like an animal. So he answers his questions with this latest experience, a sensation not yet acquired: the origin of humanity, his own, Asa's. If everyone's doing it, it must be good!!!

Sex is presented as two sides of the same coin in this part, as a kind of naive claim for Denji to move forward, to get out of his pain, but something that is constantly used against him, to manipulate him, that puts him in danger.

And once again, he begins to spot the danger, but can't fight it. Fumiko is the perfect example, a symbol of his sexual trauma to which Denji is completely subjected.

Denji is beginning to know that sex can be both positive and negative. But he also doesn't know how to discuss it, how to talk about it, especially to the girl he's interested in. As he thinks sex is something universally pleasurable so talking about it had to resonate in Asa as much as cats, dogs, ice cream. He presented something that was also traumatic in a beautiful light.

Denji wants a girlfriend, he wants to be loved and to love, yes. Even though love is rarely a pleasant experience, even a factor of despair.

Denji also wants to sleep with someone, yes something just as risky, or he consciously knows he can be used and manipulated for it.

Sex isn't Denji's way of being loved, it's like love, something as beautiful as it is traumatic. And Denji wants to experiment. Even if it means suffering. Because in suffering, there will always be pleasure.

CSM, the fruit of an act of love for Pochita and mourning for Denji, is above all the chimera of trauma.

Denji doesn't think he can get out of the trauma. He has experienced it so much that he now sees it as something necessary to experience. He doesn't confront suffering, he deflects it, even if it means suffering more.

How could Denji break out of this cycle?

By learning to trust.

And that's something he'll experience with a teenager who's distrustful, his opposite.

Both the attraction and the rejection of sex are normal reactions for two teenagers. But they are also two responses from the two protagonists to their own suffering.

Denji's obsession with sex is a desire to move forward, to tie the knot to the point of putting himself in danger. Asa's absolute rejection of contact is also symbolic of the fact that she no longer wants to suffer by connecting with others, even if it means suffering from her loneliness.

One is literally swept away by his suffering, while the other cuts off his own head to get some hope, accepting his suffering as necessary, even if it deprives him of his loved ones. And the result will be the same: solitude.

You can't throw yourself into someone's arms, just as you can't isolate yourself.

Loneliness will devour them if they don't bond with each other.

A relationship with someone you trust is enough.

Sick contorted amalgamations lined the walls of Asa’s new home, the last one he’d been driven out of after you’d caught wind of what he’d been doing with the bodies, once human figures now twisted into a perverse approximation of insects and wild animals. i didn't have very many ideas for sniper but i think the best fit for him would be the collector/asa emory (from the collector series) because in my opinion, sniper's weird hunter-like relationship with the people he kills kinda reminds me of how the collector functions with all the traps and the games he plays with his victims [not like jigsaw though, it's different] (granted i haven't seen the movie in a little bit, cut me some slack)

honestly i could see him as being any of the big, silent killers in film (jason voorhees, michael myers, you know the drill) but i think it would be funnier if he were frankenstein's monster and medic was dr. frankenstein

You were caught of guard and noticed he called you "(Name)-chan" before and you JUST noticed it, your face was a fiery emerald pink color, making Kyojuro laugh. "You are just like what Kanroji-san descripted!" "M-miss. Kanroji told you about me?!" "Yes! She said that you were easily flustered like when you got your demon slayer outfit!" You finally notice your demon slayer outfit and then go red like a tomato. "I- .." You look down at the floor, more flustered then before, being alone most of the time kept you from understanding what love was, Mitsuri told you all she knows, which was hard to understand but randomly you feel it to her sensei?! This is a whole crazy start to meeting the flame Hashira... "Well, young Kamado, what breathing style do you have?" "I have water breathing and Hinokami Kagura!" "How interesting, two breathing techniques, is that even possible?" Kyojuro has a confused look on his face, wondering how that is even possible.

"But I do believe you Tanjiro-kun!" "I believe you with all my heart!" Tanjiro smiles, glad that you have that much trust in him, even though he is a minor and you are 18 it's nice to know that though. "Same here young Kamado!" Making you wonder if it was wrong to like your sensei's sensei, which is very confusing in a way... But you just were that type of person that over thinks to much. "So what color of Nichirin blades? Because mine is a hot light pink!" You smile, making Kyojuro feel all weird and tingly inside. "I have black!-" You started to say that you've never heard about it before. "I have red!" You already expected it to be a fiery color, since he is the flame Hashira after all. But just before they could start another conversation the train conductor came and stamping the tickets, but he looked.... Weird in a good but bad way. But when Tanjiro gave him his.... The lights start to flicker. You quickly open your eyes. "Thank you... Very much..." You quickly stood up and so did Kyojuro after he said that. "Conductor! Apologizes for the sword! But there is a reason so please keep at a safe distance!" Then the lights start to flicker again, making you look around the train, making sure the demon didn't come out and do a sneak attack on anyone. You were to distracted after a couple of seconds, then a demon appears at the door of the carriage. Zenitsu screams for a second then you lift him up off the ground. "AN ANGEL!" Zenitsu screams, making you laugh to keep him distracted, the demon started to stand up. "What a giant, did you use a blood demon art? It was difficult to detect you. Know this, you bare your fangs at the innocent, I will see your bone turn to ache. With my light red blade of fire!" Kyojuro takes his katana out. The demon roared at him, making you almost fall over by the impact. "Flame breathing: First form: UNKNOWING FIRE!" Kyojuro dashes towards the target at tremendous speeds, before unleashing a singular horizontal slash directed at the targets neck for a decapitation. Kyojuro breaks the door down into the other carriage, after cutting the demons head off. Tanjiro and you were amazed at how quick a Hashira can kill a demon. "Amazing.. And with a single slice..." You look at the passengers, to make sure they weren't having a panic attack or something like that. "There is still one more... Come with me!" Kyojuro runs through the carriages, you and Tanjiro following close behind, holding your Nichirin blade and Tanjiro holding his, "ALRIGHT!" Inosuke says, following behind. "HEY DON'T LEAVE ME HERE!" Zenitsu says, now following as well. Then the lights start to flicker again.

People screaming and running towards the next carriage. Seeing a demon that was in the middle of the carriage. 'Hmph! I can do better then that!' You pout, snapping back to reality. There was still one man, seated, the demon lunges one of his long hands at him, he quickly moved out the way thank goodness.. But the demon moved and roared in his face. You look at him with a angry smile on your face. "I'm sorry but... This will be the last day of your demon adventure, trying to become an Upper or Lower moon, why would they pick you?~ It's obvious that if you tried to fight one!~ ... You'd die in a second!~ But I will make sure that doesn't happen... So! Say hi to Satan for me!~" Which makes the others have a shiver down their spines. Kyojuro snaps back to reality and gets the man out of the way. "You'll be safe in the back" "Now go!" The demon lunges towards you, so you do the same, he lifts his long hand up, trying to attack you from above, but he should have known she was taught by one of the second girl Hashira, and that never goes to waist for that tittle. "Sakura breathing: ... Third form: .... Sakura bloodshed!" You lung towards the demon after dodging the long hand, making a shower of blood drops with Sakura flowers inside, having love heart shaped petals and flames covering the blood drops, making a distraction from the demon to look at the flames floating in the air, you take this chance to cut it's head off. The demon starts to turn into ashes, you put your blade in it's sheave, Tanjiro was the first to speak. "Woah... THAT WAS TOTALLY COOL (NAME)-SAN! TALK ABOUT genius GENIUS SWORDPLAY! TEACH ME HOW YOU BECAME SO STRONG AND DO THAT!" You smile at him, making Kyojuro think about the future with you. If you became a Hashira. "Very well then! I'll teach you the things I did and what you can do to become that strong!" "CAN I JOIN?!" "YEAH ME TOO!" You'd only giggle at the desperation they had in their voices, making you miss your family a lot more... Tanjiro had the personality of your twin brother... Asa... Inosuke had the personality of your little brother... Ren.. And Zenitsu had the personality of your little sister.. Masako... You missed them a lot. But you always hid the fear and sadness on your face, no matter what... "I'll be willing to teach you all!" "YOU'RE AWESOME (NAME)!" They say, flying around like fairies. Kyojuro walks over to you. "(Name)-chan? Have you ever thought of becoming a Hashira?" Your eyes widen at the question, then you become flustered again. "W-well... I have really... But I just don't know at the same time... It's like I want to take that step but... But it just won't let me move anymore... But to answer your question; yes, yes I have...!" You look at the ground mumbling about stuff, you had the same personality as Mitsuri, since she was like a big sister to you. Kyojuro laughs at how flustered you'd get even at a simple question, making you get even more flustered. "Would you two be lovey dovey somewhere else?! It's sad to see I don't have a chance with Angel-chan!" You get even more flustered, then realize he didn't even know your age- ".... I'm 18-" Zenitsu looks at you then at Kyojuro. "YOU LUCKY ASS MAN! YOU GET A LADY THAT WILL TREAT YOU LIKE A KING! I BET YOU BOTH WILL HAVE A BIG ASS FAMILY, JUST WHAT I WANTEDDDDD!!!" You get so flustered that you almost faint, luckily Kyojuro caught you just in time. "Hah- Very funny young Agatsuma, but I don't even have a chance with (Name)-chan!" "SEE YOU ARE EVEN CALLING THEM (NAME)-CHAN, YOU DO HAVE A CHANCE!" You start to blush even more at the fact that he said that he doesn't have a chance with you, and out of all the people that were being so perverted to you, he really did have a big, big, BIG percent of actually getting with you. "Y-yeah guys, maybe stop? Looks like if we keep carrying on (Name)-san will end up fainting..." Tanjiro says, helping Kyojuro keep you on your feet. Then the lights start to flicker again. Next you were asleep next to Kyojuro... In a deep slumber, not being able to wake up...

A worker was running, crying in fact, then falls to his knees. "As ordered! I put them all to sleep sir! Now please, do the same to me as well, won't you? Let me be reunited with my dead wife and daughter, please, I'm begging you." The man cries. "Certainly." A hand drops down. "You did a fine job" "Now sleep forever" The man falls on the ground. "Dream that you are with your family again." The hand turns around to the girl. "Pardon me" "What would you like from us?" "Those who are sleeping will sink even deeper." "Wait here until then" "Although one of the demon hunters does grab my attention, she goes by the name (Name) (Last name), she has (Hair color) and hot light pink tips, and one eye is (Eye color) and the other in the same shade of the got light pink tips. Make sure nothing happens to her." "But some demon hunters will sometimes wake unexpectedly from sensing a demon. So be very careful when you are tying them up, that you do not directly touch their bodies, I must remain in the first car for the time being, 'til everything's ready to go, good luck." "You all want peaceful dreams as well, don't you?" The hand looks at all of them. "Yes."

You were in your bed, asleep for some weird reason... But... It isn't the bed Miss. Kanroji gave you... It was the one your mom and dad provided you when they were alive... You quickly shot up from your bed, running to your own bathroom, looking in the mirror you backed up slowly into a wall. "N-no... This has got to be fake!..." You start crying, curled up in a ball, you shared a room with your twin brother, Asa, he knocked on the door since he can hear you crying from a mile away. "Nee-san? You okay in there? I hear you crying, do you want me to get Ma and Pa? Is it okay if I come in?" Your eyes start to shake from happiness but sadness, happiness since you thought it was all a nightmare, your family dying was a nightmare after all huh? But you were also sad because you would have never met the man of your dreams... It was all to confusing for your brain to handle. "I-I'm okay, and you can come in if you want..." Asa opens the door slowly, looking at your terrified face and bloody scars... "OH GOSH! ARE YOU OKAY NEE-SAN?! I'LL GET MA AND PA, WAIT HERE!" You looked at him with tears streaming down your face, you stood up to look at yourself... Seeing this is the time when you... When you tried to kill yourself for looking like... Well.. You.... You always felt insecure about your eyes... Your hair... It was all shock and being terrified, you just had to try and do it, get rid of your misery of being called "Weird" or a "Freak" you weren't those things at all! You were beautiful, you just did know it yet... "NEE-SAN, YOU CAN'T DO THAT TO YOURSELF! ALL THOSE NAMES ARE JUST TRYING TO MAKE YOU DO THIS, THEY ARE JUST JEALOUS OF YOUR BEAUTY!" "Yes, I agree with your brother, (Nickname), you shouldn't do this to yourself! It's just them being jealous over your beautiful eyes, beautiful hair and beautiful body...!" Your mom takes out the medical kit, patching up those cuts on you... But that wasn't the main reason... When you'd go outside, you lived in a village of perverted men... Some were at least... And those men mostly picked on you for your personality being too "Weak" and being to "Easy". Which was half true, but you didn't want to think about that right now, you just needed to forget about all of this, and move on, make sure that none of this will happen again, you had the mind of a 18 year old, not a 14-15 year old anymore, you kept all of those tips you got from Mitsuri in your mind. "I-I'm sorry... I was just... I- It's not that reason fully..." "Oh? Then what is it (Nickname)?" You take a deep breath. "I-I was getting harassed by these perverted men in the village... Your mom and dad got very mad, telling Asa to take you to the living room, wrap you up in blankets, give you some books and some food, and comfort you. Of course he listened straight away-... But before that he gave you a tiny little comfort lecture- "B-but Aniue!" Your brother looks at you with the motherly like face he has most of the time. "No buts! There will be NO dating any boy or girl!" "B-but I will be lonely!" You frown, looking at your brother with puppy eyes, but then realize... You would have already been in 'reality' already, but what did you have to do to wake up was the real question...

"Ah~ My (Name)-chan starting to realize this is all fake?~ Well then they must do it quicker!" The demon opens his eyes to reveal the rank in his eyes, "Lower moon one". " I have to get to the corner of this dream" They all had a flashback to the hand explaining about his blood demon art. "The dream world I show them isn't infinite. It's circular, with the dreamer presiding at the center. The realm of the subconscious, exist just out side the dream... Where you'll find the spiritual core. That's what you must destroy. Once you do that, the owner of the dream will cease to be." The girl stopped having the flashback, holding her hands out to feel the corner of the dream, until she feels it. "I found it! Even though I can see further I can't move beyond this." The girl says. pulling out the thing she was told to use. "I'll destroy her spiritual core as soon as possible." The girl stabs the end of the dream. "And then I'll get to experience a happy dream myself!" The girl finally opens it but to her shock, she saw pink clouds, pink moons, pink flowers, pink stars and pink everything that could be seen from the outside or inside that is healthy, the girl slowly walks in, to be greeted by a flower trail. "This is her "Realm of the subconscious"? All this pink... It's... Unusual if I do say... I've got to hurry though!" The girl runs through the flowers, feeling like she was in her normal life again... When she was little. You start to move a little while you were still asleep, feeling this weird... Well... Weird like someone is gonna figure out her past, but Kyojuro holds you in place, to be honest! If you were not fully asleep like this, you would probably wake up in seconds, feeling flustered about sleeping on his shoulder. While the girl was running she saw this ever so lonely red, bloodied flower, but kept going. The girl turned around to see the spiritual core, just floating there, ever so peacefully. "There it is, the spiritual core." "I've never seen a pink one before... All I have to do now is, destroy this!" The girl tries to stab the spiritual core, but Sakura petals start to surround her. You quickly kick her over, and pin her to the ground with your Nichirin blade. The girl starts to cough, dropping the weapon, not being able to move, at least it wasn't as brutal as when Kyojuro was holding the other girl by the neck. "I thought that humans weren't able to move, while they were under a spell like this!" "What kind of thing is she using to keep me down?!" You were going to the 'toilet' but instead you were going to figure out a way to escape this ... Dream, to be honest it is an lovely dream, nothing bad is happening...- Or at least not yet... You jumped out the window, running towards the outside of the garden, you looked around until you saw... Mitsuri?! How was she in this dream?! "M-miss. Kanroji! H-how are you here?!" Mitsuri looked at you, with a sad smile on her face. "(Name), I know how much you hated yourself when you were younger, so this would have been easy if you knew about this is the past, but... The only way you can get out is if he let's you out or... You kill yourself, there is no way you would be able to do the first option... I'm so sorry (Name).... I will be waiting for you at home..." Mitsuri disappears after that. "... She is right, it would have been easy when I was younger... But forget about that (Name)! Keep yourself focused! Make sure you do it and not cower away..." You breath heavily, holding your OWN Nichirin blade to kill yourself... You held it next to your leg... Then... You chop it off... You fall you the ground in pain, screaming and crying until you run out of breath... And get out the dream...

It wasn’t every day that Midorima Shintarou felt nervous. It was a foreign emotion to him, usually reserved for moments where he was absolutely unsure of himself. Where he couldn’t predict the outcome of a situation. Where, even Oha-Asa itself, could not possibly determine the best path forward.

It was reserved for moments like this.

As he stood in front of you, blocking the doorway to your shared apartment, Midorima looked down at you to meet your gaze. You were quirking a brow at him in question, wondering why he had yet to open the door. When he still made no move to get out of the way, you pressed him for answers.

“Shintarou…” you started slowly, elongating the syllables of his name. “It’s been a really long day at work and I’d like to get inside and rest. Could you open the door now?”

For a split second, Midorima’s eyes left yours as he glanced back at the front door. You heard his keys jingle as he gripped at them. “Before I do that, there’s something I should tell you.”

This piqued your curiosity and you attempted to look around him, as if you could see through the wooden door. “What’s up?” you asked.

“Do you remember what my lucky item for the day was?”

The question caught you momentarily off guard. Thinking back to earlier that morning, it didn’t take you long to recall exactly what Midorima was talking about.

“It was a reindeer, wasn’t it? I remember you saying you were going to order a stuffed animal.” Then a thought came to mind and your jaw dropped. “Oh no, you didn’t accidentally order too many again, did you? What are we going to do with several plushies?”

“Ah, well, actually—“

You didn’t hear Midorima, lost in thought as you tried to think of solutions to the dilemma at hand. “I suppose we could give them out as presents, but that might be too tacky, giving everyone the same thing. Maybe we could hand them out as party favors, but then we would need to actually throw a party. Maybe—“

You were cut off by a deep sound coming from within your apartment; a low groan that sounded almost like a large animal. You paused, glancing first at your still-closed front door and then back up toward Midorima. He was no longer looking at you.

“Shintarou…”

“I may have made an error in my purchase.”

Without fully registering his words, you finally pushed past Midorima and unlocked the front door with your own set of keys. You swung the door open wide, stepping through the threshold quickly only to come face to face with one of the largest animals you’d ever seen. The reindeer was staring at you from its position near your couch; it’s massive size dwarfed the piece of furniture easily.

“Okay, never mind the fact you managed to buy a live animal for way cheaper than you should have been able to,” you said quietly, words coming out slow as the shock finally began to settle in your veins. You turned stiffly back toward Midorima. “How’d you fit a reindeer in the apartment?”

“Takao owed me a favor.”

You blinked up at your boyfriend, choosing to ignore his non-answer for now. The sound of ripping fabric tore your gaze away from him and you turned just in time to watch the reindeer bite a hefty chunk out of the plush of your couch.

You sighed. “Well… I guess technically it’s stuffed now.”

I GENUINELY WISH I NEVER DECIDED TO CATCH UP ON THIS SERIES BECAUSE WHAT THE ACTUAL HECK DID I JUST READ AJSJSIXJEJK

okay so the other day I got volume 9 of csm, little did I know, that’s where all the drama begins cause what in the worldddd

(I was planning on reading volumes 1-11 via physical volumes but I couldn’t wait to buy volume 10 so I decided to read it online but I ended up catching up on the entire series ?? 🙂🐸)

So here is my genuine reaction to chapters 70ish thru the current chapters

ok first of all, the character development Denji AND Power have gone through is insane. I didn’t think they could get this close, which genuinely breaks my heart that they didn’t have this for long 💔💔

They both matured for sure, there’s no denying it.

I also wanted to point out the bath scene, I haven’t really seen anyone talking about it enough, but the fact that Denji didn’t fall for selfish desires and actually helped Power bathe instead of making the situation awkward, was so sweet omg 🥺🥺

again, here we can see the difference in how he has matured, before he wanted women for his own desires but now he starts to realize that he is able to have platonic relationships with women like Power

OKAY BUT THIS WAS JUST CRUEL. IM GOING TO START BAWLING WHEN THIS GETS ANIMATED LIKE WTH

BIGGEST PLOT TWIST OF THE YEAR FR 😭

When it said “part 1” I was lowkey shocked

ok and here’s where I start talking about the second arc/current arc

Okay, for starters this arc is honestly a lot more interesting than the first one, (I love the characters in the first arc more tho) I literally love the whole idea behind all the tension between Asa and Denji, Asa is a little confusedwhen it comes to her feelings and is convinced that she doesn’t have any feelings for Denji OR Chainsaw Man but which is honestly really funny considering Denji’s personality. And Denji is just as confused as she is. 💀💀

Also I’m loving the whole idea of the alter ego dynamic where Asa’s main obstacle is the War Devil, something she is constantly battling, and is the complete opposite of, Fujimoto wrote her well imo

Also Denji being straight up blunt abt his desires was so funny to me, he is the total opposite of Asa who for the life of her (literally) cannot be selfish

I mean… at least he’s being honest BUT I think I know where this is going…

From the beginning, Denji has never truly understood love, all the girls he “fell for” were just using him, and he only wanted them for their looks, bodies, etc. but now when we bring Asa into the picture, I think she’s definitely going to change him for sure, just like Power and Aki did. I think they’re definitely going to be end game, with Asa he doesn’t really have feelings for her *yet* but I’m sure he will catch on and realize that there’s more to women than just their looks, and Asa will humble him. I cannot wait for this duo to get more and more chaotic 💀💀 I’m living for them fs ❤️

On Chainsaw Man, Fujimoto, and Female Characters

basically, what prompted this lengthy post is this tweet as well as this other tweet . i know the first one is clearly meant as a joke and the second one was made all in good faith too— but i have thoughts and i need to get them out or else my brain will explode.

csm is regarded as one of the rare series to have good representation for its female characters. the word good itself is extremely subjective and means differently for each person, but for majority of ppl in the anime community, csm’s representation of women is good in a sense that it subverts gender norms, places women either equally or even higher than men, grants them with actual personalities and character depth, and lets them have autonomy and agency.

this isn’t a surprise considering fujimoto has said, and i quote, “i want to put women on a higher pedestal than men.” we all know the infamous story of a woman flipping his bike and laughing at him when he was in college, how he liked it, and how it defined his tough and dominant taste in women. which certainly explains how his female characters are written.

fujimoto almost writes his female characters in the same light as he writes male characters. they’re all compelling in their own ways with their own set of flaws and motivstions. except for one thing: he writes with the male gaze, and his female characters are sexualized in a way that his male characters aren’t.

pointing back to one of the tweets i mentioned before. i think what prompted the tweet and the is fujimoto a misogynist discourse circulating currently is due to the weird fan service in the latest csm chapter where asa gets stripped down to her underwear— in the middle of a fight.

this unsurprisingly sparked debate, mostly with people arguing that if it was hori (mangaka of mha) the backlash would have already been immense but since it’s fujimoto, no one bats an eye. some people argue that it’s not weird, since asa being stripped to her underwear wasn’t framed in a sexualized lens, while others argue that fujimoto and hori are not comparable because fujimoto can actually write female characters unlike the latter who (in their words, i personally haven’t read/watched mha so i can’t say much) writes them one-dimensionally and can’t write women to save his life.

my two cents in this is a.) the fan service was weird, unnecessary, and was out of nowhere b.) it’s definitely not on the same degree of sexualization as to what ive seen hori did before and i can kind of get why some people said that it’s not framed sexually but i still see it as sexualization but more subtle c.) i think at the end of the day, fujimoto does end up getting away with things he shouldn’t be able to just because he writes women better.

i think my problem is rooted on the fact that fujimoto gets praised too much compared to what he actually deserves. with the amount and weight of praise that he gets for the writing of csm’s women, you would think that he’s this revolutionary writer who set the standard and is the epitome for how male mangakas should write women when no, his portrayal also has it’s own share of shortcomings and is subject to criticism.

it’s very easy to end up praising him with high regard because as mentioned, he does write women with depth, makes them compelling, makes them dominant and tough, and grants them agency. no woman in csm is a damsel in distress. and these qualities are extremely and unfortunately rare for women from other shonen stories. but a woman being able to take care of herself and having her own agency and personality shouldn’t be the only basis on how audiences should perceive well written female characters— because that’s the bare minimum. when one looks at a male character from a story and he’s able to take care of himself, has his own personality and goals, and he gets shit done, is he regarded with the same praise? no. because it’s the bare minimum and it’s the norm.

it should also be noted that a female character being strong doesn’t inherently equate to being well written but that’s a conversation for another day.

point is, the bar for male writers are in hell. fujimoto can write women better compared to other mangakas, but it’s not like he’s perfect. i don’t think he’s exactly a misogynist, but he’s certainly not a feminist either and his writing still has misogynistic undertones and tendencies because, once again, ~the male gaze~. i’m not implying that fujimoto shouldn’t be praised for his portrayal of women. i think he can, to a certain extent because he does write better compared to others, but it shouldn’t be on the same high regard that he can get away with his shortcomings.

i know some people might say that chainsaw man have always been written with the male gaze since the beginning, so if you can’t stand it, then don’t read the series. but i do like the series, and just because i like something doesn’t mean that i can’t criticize it and just because i criticize something doesn’t mean that ill drop it either. there’s no time limit on criticism either.

for the record, this post is by no means anti fujimoto. on the contrary, i like him and i think he’s a prolific writer, but like everybody and everything else, no one is above criticism. and i think the best way to move forward in things is to have nuanced and healthy conversations.

“what do you mean you found a dog?”

“I was heading back to the car park and he was just sitting in a little box. Someone abandoned the poor little guy,” He cooed,

“As sad as that may be… why is he in our house?”

“So we can give him a home,”

I sighed, “Asa… we’ve been over this.”

“But-”

“No buts. we have enough animals in this house as it is you’re not just bringing in another dog without consulting me,"

"Okay… Yes, I should have called you but… Puppy! Who needs a home!”

“I know he needs a home, but why didn’t you take him to the shelter?”

“You remember what happened last time I went to a shelter unsupervised.”

“Good point,” I sighed, “he’s not staying,”

“But puppy,”

“He can stay for a little bit then we find him a home, we have too many animals in this house as it is.”

“…But puppy,”

“No puppy. he can stay for now but we find him a nice home. Don’t name him. Don’t love him. just feed him and we’ll find him a home.”

“Please,” he begged, “But pipper wants to live with us y/n,”

“Asa yes!” He smiled bolting off with the puppy in hand,

“No! No Asa get back here you aren’t keeping him!” I chased after him,

“You’ll love him soon,” he smiled,

“Asa! NO! We have four dogs, three cats, six birds, five rabbits and I have lost track on how many fish you are not bringing another dog into this madness!"

"Please Y/n,” He begs setting the puppy down with our other dogs letting them sniff and play together,

“He can stay for a few days till we find him a better home,"

"A month,”

I have always been a big fan of him and he’s always been my favourite troll to begin with but every time I see him and hear him, my heart always beats so much for him, making it aflutter and words cannot describe how special he is to me...how he means the whole world to me~💞🌈💗🌈💞I mean...can you blame me? >//w//`< How could I resist and say no to such an adorable face to go with such a darling like him??💖😍💖😍💖Cooper is more than just the goofball that we all know and love...he’s my goofball and so much more...the most amazing troll with such talent, a unique voice and a dazzling yet loving royal family to go with him...Cooper is also the prince of my heart, who deserves all the love and happiness in the world...and I feel so blessed to be the one to give it all to him, along with my heart~🥰💝💝🥰 April 24th 2020 was the day I drew Cooper for the very first time, and when I started shipping myself with him. Happy Birthday Takao

Shintarō had waited until he and Takao had gone up to the rooftop to eat their lunch together as was their usual habit. He hadn’t forgotten what day it was. Today was Takao’s birthday and the last day that had fallen under the sign of Scorpio. They had just sat down.

Shintarō had uncharacteristically been the one to break the silence first. “Happy Birthday Takao. Oho Asa’s lucky item for Scorpios today is a bird stuffed animal.” He had once told Takao that if people don’t obtain lucky items themselves then the effect would be nullified but he could make exceptions for that on people’s birthdays or in certain scenarios like if people personally didn’t care for lucky items, but he believed that people needed their lucky items. It was better to have some luck than none at all. He held out the bird plushie for Takao to take. “Oho Asa’s message for Scorpios today is it’s alright to have fun but you also need to work hard in other areas of your life.”

Shintarō’s voice practically lowered to a whisper as he continued speaking. “I will pedal the rear car today.” Mika had pestered him today saying that Takao always transported him on the rear car and that people should feel special on their birthdays.

“However, I will not pedal until we are a good distance away from the school nanodayo. Then I will trade places with you and pedal the rest of the way without any complaints.”

Shintarō pulled out his green cellphone and said, “Mika also sends you her wishes.” As he played the video recording for Takao to see, Mika was seated near the piano as she smiled and said "Happy Birthday Takao-san! I hope you have an awesome day today!” Then Mika started playing the "Happy Birthday" song on the piano. "She and I both took piano lessons when we were little, nanodayo."

So in my head, Mr. Cockroach is just a silly little nerd. A goofy fella with social anxiety. He is the definition of a poor little meow meow- smart but pathetic, a self absorbed mess

Picture a pinscher with a cold. That's him

He has managed to get himself to pretend he's somewhat well adjusted, but even tho he can make small talk, buy groceries and order pizza from time to time he still comes off as cagey and awkward

Definitely kept dead bugs in jars in his room as a kid, did not expect them to rot, learned nothing from this experience and still does it

Which means he smells bad. But purposefully now

I think Asa identifies as a bug tbh, but not literally

He loves humans like you maybe love cars, or art.

He doesn't relate to people. He doesn't get what's like to be one. But he loves us so much, he admires us so much, like you admire a vintage Lamborghini in perfect conditions.

He loves us from afar, like an admirer, an outside observer, wanting to learn everything about us because he doesn't understand but loves how strangely endearing we are, like the entomologist he is. Its almost like a fetish, but not sexual- objetification meets cold adoration in the hands of a scientist

This is specially noticeable (like another poster said) when we see various scenes where he's gently craddling his victim's faces or taking "care" of them. He looks at them in awe, like he could (cus he really could) break them, he wants to see them break to learn one more thing about them

He sees his victims not as people, not as complex universes, not as concepts, but as animals. He understands you have a life and opinions and friends, but he compartmentalizes these as normal behavior for your species

He cannot physically take his headphones off during the day cus it's so fucken noimsy outside and it hurts his ears

He likes to listen to anything repetitive and loud, nothing with discernible lyrics

His house looks like one of those ikea display rooms, except it smells faintly like formaldehyde and rot

He has a massive sweet tooth

He has a love for psychology, human anatomy and thanatology

Actually any field of knowledge that could explain human behavior is fair game to him

He absolutely hates spending money in "unnecessary" things, which is why he has plenty of diy projects around his place

Absolutely has a God complex, but more in a "I Cannot Relate To Any Of My Beloved Creechures" than "my milkshake is better than yours"

100% a virgin. Does not have any interest in romance or sex, does not understand most people's need for it, could not feel more uncomfortable than when his victims offer to "help him" in exchange for their freedom

Never had any friends

Was raised by his extended family who sent him off to college as soon as they could

His favorite place in the whole wide world are cemeteries (silent, and he can spend time with his beloved lil humans as much as he wants)

Never takes anything personally and is completely unfazed by morality. Again, whenever anything happens he just sees it as part of the behavior of this particular species, like he isnt an active participant in the world, just a bystander

Hates pillows. His bed is as firm as a wooden table (might actually be one), only wears blankets when its absolutely freezing and he has no other choice

Walks around either on all fours or on his tiptoes

He doesn't? really? get? why people hate his trunks so much. He finds small spaces quite soothing and attributes his victim's screams to panic or anxiety of being caught, not also cus they're yk stuck in a tiny box with no chance of getting out

He has quite a few "animalistic" quirks, like the growling and purring thing. Some come naturally, some he picked up from his early subjects when he was a student

Knows how to crochet, and how to sew up small tears or holes in clothing

supernatural s12e6 celebrating the life of asa fox (w. steve yockey)

seen gifs from this one recently of sam being cute, so i know at least that's coming. recap reminding me of all the characters i iked that have died, not exactly putting me in a great mindset though

ok so. we're gonna use the same actress, samantha smith - who is 47 at this point, for mary in 1980 (who would be 26). even though in 5x13 it's 1978 with a different actress when dean time traveled. weird choice but ok. sighing that they forced me to figure out the numbers on it :p

decided to just grab the whole scene so i could swim around in the slice of life cozy feelings for a while before it falls apart .2 seconds later

i turned captions off because netflix puts them right over their faces when the title credits are running at the bottom :|

dean's so proud of himself and can't wait to tell jody about hitler, very cute. i do really look forward to episodes with her now. that casual family affection and support sure is nice for them, little hugs and kisses as they barge on in. and her "are you?" to the romcom chick question cracks me up, with how she says it

so jody said she met asa "a few months back" but now she's chummy with these hunters (presumably she met them through asa?) and bucky here telling this story like we're recalling days more than a few months gone by. pulls me out of the story when i need to stop to try to figure out how this makes sense and come to the conclusion that it doesn't

DEAN Hey, you clearly deserve your sweet, sweet time alone. JODY Well, I mean, it wasn’t always sweet. DEAN Uh… yeah, it’s just not how we think of you. You know, I… JODY Good, 'cause that would honestly be weird. DEAN Nobody… nobody said you can’t date, right?

little banter bicker earlier, very natural and cute. this... awkward and forced feeling to me. weird. like we gotta fill the time here during the stealth throat slash and mary slowly creeping in

new mom meet the old mom. so like, i can see how they (the show) wanted this to be a surprise for this scene but little old me is thinking you know dean was tripping over himself to tell jody about killing hitler, but the fact that their long dead mother was resurrected didn't come up.

MARY All over. I went back to Lawrence for a few days. And then, um, I’ve been using John’s journal to retrace a few things. Try to catch up on what I’ve missed. DEAN You could’ve just asked us, you know. SAM Dean, come on. DEAN She could’ve. MARY It’s okay. He’s right. But… This is something I needed to do alone. I… Listen, most of the people I knew are dead. And then I remembered Asa. He was so young when I met him, I thought he must still be around. And then… I saw an article about his death, and, uh… DEAN So you’ll text us once a week, maybe, but you’ll drive all the way to Canada to see some dead guy? Well, that’s awesome. I’m gonna get some air.

JODY You okay? DEAN Swell. JODY Huh. Is that why you spent the entire ride up here telling me in extreme, excruciating detail how you killed Hitler, but, uh, you neglected to mention the fact that your mom is back from the dead?

when she started that, i was thinking more along the lines of scared to get close and lose them again. i think in this hypothetical, they wouldn't change much but i can definitely get the, what if i changed, of it all. being the person myself that usually has changed within a relationship and it gets kinda fucked up. anyway, i'm glad she made him talk about it. needs someone other than sam to push him sometimes and that he can lean on. i don't care if she's our manic pixie dream mom, we (myself included) need it

MARY Yeah, I just don’t know anymore. Everywhere I go, and everything I do just… feels wrong. But I’ll get used to it. Being back here. I will. I just… SAM Yeah, Mom. You don’t have to explain anything. I get it. You need space. And– and so does Dean, you know? so i sort of remember her talking about reaping god and being above everything basically, but i mean, magical god creation also is part of this universe so... ? and also, if i didn't know how many episodes mary was in, i would have believed she might actually take up billie's offer.

got the production/behind the scenes-reasons vibes starting to happen for me, little too contrived but okay.

what a strange mix in this episode. so many Family Moments and Feelings mixed into a rando case/rando mix of people. case setup reminded me of the episode that was one big advertisement for Clue :p

oh it's been forever since i got a top characters ask - this has probably changed a lot since i last considered a definitive top ten. and actually this has tormented me a lot. had to kill a lot of darlings. oof. not actually definitive this could probably change a lot.

10) it's a really good thing i never got into Supernatural when the fandom was in its heyday i think there would be something wrong with me if i did. anyways november 5th unlatched something in me and i do think that Castiel is real and alive and gay out there in the universe in a way that precious few characters can lay claim to. everyone please respect him.

9) Battleborn is a dead game and a dead fandom which i grieve all the time, not least because it meant one of the greatest yuris of all time was lost from knowledge. anyways i love Galilea for largely gay reasons - tall woman in armor sword and shield, intense relationship of deep friendship and betrayal with Ambra, being a knight templar cursed by eldritch powers. i miss her. we truly lost something great. being so trapped between duty and love that it rips you apart for the rest of your existence. insane.

8) when Locus from Red vs Blue was first introduced like i kneeeeewwww they were gonna do something with him and also he had a sexy voice (tragically the voice actor turned out to be a dick.) and my knowing paid off. i love it when a character tries to abdicate their autonomy in order to escape their crimes but ultimately can't it's soooooo juicy.

7) Beast Wars has so many insanely good characters who are all my favourites and it is so so so hard to ever choose among them. but Blackarachnia claws her way to the top. funny enough it's a point where i think the show failed with her character that pushed her to the top - a large part of her characterization is trying to win and protect her autonomy/individuality, and "proving grounds" is such a triumphant climax of that. but she's also stuck in a toy commercial and needed a new design to sell so "crossing the rubicon" had to happen. it's something about how she had to be literally knocked out for the writers to make that upgrade happen that's both infuriating, but also speaks to how strong she is as a character.

6) Denji & Power from Chainsaw Man, do not separate them. i'm actually incapable of separating them. i have a lot of beloved characters from csm - makima, aki, kobeni, asa, yuko, it's probably easier to name the ones i don't like - but denji and power as both individual characters and as a relationship in the story is so important to me. denji was a character i actively didn't think i would love as much until the narrative gut punched me so hard with the full breadth of his story and development. power i always knew i would love, and it paid off i was so pleased with her and chapter 90 was pure euphoria for me. i need to see them together again so much.

5) Eleanor from The Haunting of Hill House, SPECIFICALLY the novel not the tv show, the tv show is nothing to me. she's anxiety incarnate she's trying too hard she's a uhaul lesbian she's a jealous paranoid waif of a woman but this house loves and accepts and wants her so she'll let it have her. there are a lot of parts of eleanor that are painfully familiar and no one will ever understand her like me. certainly not mike flanagan.

4) Community is one of my favourite tv shows, and in a similar way to beast wars there's so many characters that i love love love. but Shirley is actually a very easy choice. a choice with a lot of hang-ups as shirley is easily the most mistreated and least developed of the main long-term cast and every day i imagine myself shaking dan harmon violently saying hey if you were so proud of have half a room of female writers maybe you should have a) kept going with that and b) make less of them right. there's so much ground that could have been covered with her anger issues and past alcoholism, her crossed paths with jeff as kids, finding herself outside of being a wife and a mother, and they just struggled to really do right by her. but also she's so cute the way she says "i'm so sorryyyyy" in competitive ecology. kills me all the time.

3) i have written 18 spinaraki fics with more in my wips and i think it's fair to say that Spinner from Boku no Hero Academia is an all time forever favourite character for me, just barely edging out over shigaraki. obviously spinner is a gay little evil henchman so that clinches it. but also it's just like - seeing him go from a nothing character that could have easily have been written out, to being given his own plotline and character arc about trying to find meaning and purpose and ultimately finding it in caring SO HARD about one weird guy. and he's so moe. i believe in him.

2) jose from cybersix but i can't talk about it.

Chainsaw Man Thoughts

I have a lot of thoughts about a lot of characters, so I’m putting them here

Denji

I thought it was very interesting how Denji’s motivations are so simple from the start, and how Aki berates him for not having conviction just because his goals aren’t what most would consider noble or lofty. It makes me think about how Denji’s basic, carnal, goals themselves are judged by those around him and used to assume he’s an unserious guy. Which he is, but his commitment to his goals is very real, which we get a real view of when he fights the leech devil, and he clearly isn’t going to win, but he still tries because he really wants to touch some boobs that much. That made me reflect on how we think about other people’s goals. Are we judging them only by our own values? If someone would go that far to achieve a goal, even one you would call base and crude, there is a kind of respect that has to be given. Also, is it not a nice change of pace to have a character who just wants some action, but isn’t rude or pervy about it to the women he likes? I think there’s a certain connection there to how in the current day and age, there is a coexistence that we can find between being a respectful person and still wanting to touch some boobs.

Denji always does what Makima asks because he wants to on his own, not because she directly makes him, like Angel or Aki. She never tells him “that’s an order”, he does it because he really does love her. The person that pulled him out of his old life, fed him better than he had ever eaten before, and was actually nice to him, even if it was all set up. Denji says that he really did love her, and I believe that. Just because Makima tried to kill him, the love that Denji felt is still real. Maybe that’s why Nayuta exists, because Denji loved her too much to actually use Chainsaw Man’s power when he ate her. Maybe it’s because it wasn’t Chainsaw Man who are her, but Denji. There’s such a melancholy intimacy when Denji takes his first bite, because he never did get to kiss Makima; he finally gets to taste her body, which in itself can, through the euphemistic meaning of that phrase, be likened to the sex Denji desires, and he does it with someone he loves. I think Denji’s love being more than “I want to kiss her”, and extending to the extremely difficult “I am going to kill her because I love her” is not something that Denji himself could ever accurately express, but I like that Fujimoto can make that a part of Denji to add to his depth as a character.

Pochita

I assume we’ll learn more of Pochita’s backstory, like why he disappeared suddenly in the battle, and presumably died because he ended up on earth, but not to any of the devils he was fighting? And his ability to eat devils is certainly a threat to others, but how did he become so powerful? Surely the fear of chainsaws isn’t as strong as the fear of say, darkness.

Power

I don’t think I have many thoughts on Power specifically, because I think her character is fairly well-explained throughout. My only thoughts revolve around why Power would become attached to Meowy specifically and not any other animal. I am curious to see how Denji will find her and if he will find a way to recover her memories, or if she will be reborn like Makima and he will have to befriend her all over again. Will she have a different personality? The other thing of note is the notion of saving a cat, which we have now seen from Denji, Power, and Asa. I have a feeling that indicates some sort of connection between them, or maybe it will end up just being a thematic parallel.

Aki

Aki goes from having one single goal of killing the gun devil, to waht seems like considering Denji and Power family. He wants to avenge his family, but when the time comes to begin the mission to pursue the gun devil, he asks to pull division 4 out, presumably to protect Denji and Power, who he considers worth living for. When Makima makes them go anyway, he’s suddenly back onboard, clearly against his own desires but believing he could help protect them. I wonder if his hallucination while he’s possessed by the gun devil is his own, to deal with the fact that he is now one with the being that killed his family, or if it was somehow put there by Makima, to make him more ruthless in the reality by controlling his perception of the fight. I also wonder if Makima ever used the future devil once he was contracted with her, or if she was so confident that either outcome would be good for her. I do love when he chooses to pay tribute to Himeno by scrambling Katana Man’s family jewels because she doesn’t want him to die, and that’s the kind of insane thing that somone that is going to die would never do.

Himeno

I love Himeno so much she’s beautiful and messed up and fantastic. The fact that she’s so traumatized by the deaths of her former partners that she has no regard for the hazards of smoking or drinking too much, how she clearly loves Aki’s innocence and tries to protect him because she can see that he always has that one bit of sanity in him. She acknowledges him because of the gum, but he’s still on the line between sane enough to die or insane enough to live, and she does everything she can to protect him, and you know that because of the simple “don’t die Aki” she repeats to him and then I simply love her brand of the happy-go-lucky carefree nihilism. Also I like how her night with Denji is like kind of traumatic for him because it helps show that she’s not exactly a saint, but it’s totally in character for her to try something because they could all die anytime and who has time for society’s morals in the face of imminent death? But it also sets up Makima being Denji’s savior by giving him the lollipop and reassuring him so he feels more indebted to her in the long run.

Kobeni

Kobeni is great, she’s just trying her best all the time. It was pretty crazy when she attacked Akane and Katana Man, it was like she was so into the fight that she forgot to be scared, and her fighting abilities were amazing, especially since she didn’t appear to be using her devil power at all. I find it intersting the parallel between her tripping with burger in hand trying to serve Chainsaw Man, and Asa’s apparent penchant for tripping at inopportune times as well.

Quanxi

I think she’s amazing, but how did she get fiendsto fallin love with her, especially as a devil hunter? She’s very outwardly callous, but clearly loves all of them, wanting them to have rights and an education, and trying to trade her own life for theirs. I want to know what’s up with that one with her mouth sewn shut.

Makima

How ironic that someone that views humans as dogs would herself identify others through smell. I think she’s amazing because she genuinely believes what she’s doing will create a better world, when you are the control devil and that’s all you know, of course the only way to solve the chaos and senselessness of the world would to control it yourself. To let things play out would on their own would be to give up control, and Makima could never do that. She immediately uses food to start controlling Denji when she first finds him. It’s very standout how she says there would be “no bad movies”, and I think back to her date with Denji. Two of the three movies that they saw, others laughed and reacted to despite Denji and Makima being nonplussed. The last movie, which they see basically alone, they both cry at. Clearly the movie didn’t interest others, because there was no other audience for the showing. But who is Makima to say that the other movies were bad? Why should the not be allowed to exist because they don’t please one person? There is vast amounts of art in the world, and not all of it will mean something to everyone, but some of it will always mean everything to someone. She’s very clearly using the end to justify the means, but because she doesn’t have complete control over everything, Denji can do something like remove Pochita and use that to sneak up on her. All the power she had, and it was still useless in the end because of the small amount of control over Denji’s actions that she didn’t have.

Asa

I wonder if sacrificing possessions to create weapons is like a metaphor for sacrificing troops’s lives in order to win battles. It also makes me think about how with each weapon she makes, she loses more and more of her possessions, so without taking, she would be basically out of options to fight with. Yoru is the war devil, so I think that was definitely intentional. I don’t have too many impressions of Asa yet, but she almost seems like a foil to Denji (kind devil vs. violent devil, unruly vs. reserved personality) and I predict Nayuta will kill her in much the same way that Makima did Power.

Yoshida

This dude definitely knows more than he’s letting on. Whoever he works for is likely one of the more powerful devils, directly or indirectly, and I would guess he has more than just the octopus devil contracted. Is he actually evil evil or just a creepy looking good guy?

Other Devils

We’ll definitely be seeing more from Fami and Yoru, but what will become of the darkness devil?I have to assumer there will be more threatening devils to come. My predictions for devils to come are the government devil, public speaking devil, the loneliness devil, and the vertigo devil.
