Emoji Confusion - Wednesday Addams/Enid Sinclair
A/N: 4/5 for @flufftober 's fluff monthly for August.
Wednesday hated using ‘cells’. She had allowed Enid to buy her one all the same, unable to say no to the excited girl by her side, now though she was staring at the screen in pure confusion. She wanted to believe the emoji was meant to mean something… she just had no idea what it could mean.
“Enid….”
“Mmm?”
“What even is this?”
She points at the screen, the orange kitten emoji had hearts for eyes and she still doesn’t really know what to think.
“It’s… a heart-eyes emoji?”
“Why a cat…”
“They… don’t have wolves.”
Enid droops a little and Wednesday rolls her eyes, then, not checking for others around them for once, kisses Enid’s cheek.
“Thank you, Enid.”
She’s learning, slowly, to understand the girl, even if she’s still not sure she likes the idea of emojis or using cells.

After a few days of delivering quads and proofreading her girlfriend's latest chapters, Enid convinces Wednesday to join their friends for New Year's Eve. There are preparations to be made, of course. Enid plans outfits. Wednesday spends the day alone (aside from Enid) to prepare for how annoying she's sure her friends will be.
A few hours before midnight, her new phone, still shiny from meticulous upkeep and tucked into a sleek black case, pings with a text from Bianca. Across the room, Enid's rhinestone-encrusted pink phone does the same. Until now, they had been enjoying a comfortable silence, with Enid playing some quiet classical music on her laptop for Wednesday to get lost in.
"Oooh, did you see Bianca's text?" Enid is already tapping away at light speed. "We finally have a confirmed place."
Wednesday types very slowly, not looking across the room. "Yes, just outside our window. Very exciting." Despite her girlfriend's usual monotone voice, Enid knows she's a little excited. Thing nabbed some subtle black earplugs so Wednesday could enjoy the fireworks. She even showed interest in coordinating their outfits to be a little more couple-y, though the pair still read as polar opposites.
Enid bounds across the room, throwing half her body onto Wednesday's bed. "Cuddle?" After a tiny nod from Wednesday, Enid clamors up into the bed and rests her head on Wednesday's chest, still rapidly texting in the chat affectionately named RIP Weems.
Wednesday, still averse to being a slave to technology, sets her phone down and reads off Enid's screen. Her bubbly girlfriend is much more active and the chat and, as usual, sends messages on their behalf.
"Sound okay?" Enid wiggles her phone a bit. Wednesday, stroking Enid's back, quietly says yes.
They lay together for a while before Wednesday says, "We should start getting ready soon. The eye makeup you chose looks complicated."
Almost instantly, Enid is up and moving. They get lost in the motions of quietly enjoying each other's company. Wednesday, suddenly flushed from Enid's state of undress, doesn't notice when Thing slips out of the room and dashes down the hall.
─── ・ 。゚☆: .☽ . :☆゚. ──
The Plan has been set in motion. Wednesday was back in the common room, taking a few minutes to draft something on her phone and escape their friends who, despite crowding their balcony, were being tolerable. The clock is ticking down. It wasn't hard to convince their friends to head up to the roof for the final countdown, so Enid could have Wednesday all to herself. She wanted to kiss her properly at midnight and knew that her touch-averse love would prefer to do so privately.
Thing skitters across the railing, jabbing his pointer at Bianca, Ajax, Eugene, and Xavier.
"We know," They all teasingly groaned, beginning the ascent to the roof.
"And no peeking! Go to the other side!" Enid added. She smiled at Thing, adjusting her sparkly pink dress and making sure her slouchy boots were slouching just right.
With only fifteen seconds to spare, Wednesday comes out of the colorful half of their window wide-eyed. "Enid, I forgot—where is everyone?" Students are loudly counting down all around campus. Wednesday taps her earplugs, double-checking that they're still in place.
"Indisposed. C'mere!" Enid makes grabby hands.
Wednesday smiles a small, private smile and walks into her arms. "You planned this, didn't you?"
The fireworks start. Bright, vivid blasts of pink and blue and red and yellow and white.
"Thing helped. Everyone promised not to peek." Their faces are so close Wednesday can feel Enid's breath tickling her nose. With only a few seconds to spare, Wednesday finds herself lost in thought. Enid's soft hair curled loosely. Her shimmery, silver eyeshadow makes her blue eyes pop, and her lips are the softest shade of pink, so natural looking that it almost seems like she isn't wearing any lipstick. Wednesday wonders if her darker shade will mar Enid's perfect application. It's midnight. She hopes it does.
"Well?" Enid half-whines, moving her hands up and down Wednesday's arms. "Aren't you going to kiss m—"
Wednesday leans in and brushes their lips, softer than she originally planned. Enid relaxes into her, hands cupping her face. She lets out a soft noise of pleasure, and Wednesday feels warmth blooming across her skin. When they finally separate, Enid's eyes are starry, and she has a bit of plum lipstick on her face. Wednesday glances down, then slowly wipes the side of Enid's mouth.
"You may want to check your makeup before our friends return."
"They already know we're dating," Enid says affectionately, her eyes lingering on Wednesday's mouth.
"I know, amor. I also know how perfect you like to have your makeup."
Enid practically beams, loving how attentive her beautiful, beautiful girlfriend is. "Happy New Year, Wednesday."
"Happy New Year."

Bee Happy - Wednesday Addams/Enid Sinclair
A/N: Part 2/5 for @flufftober 's August Fluff Monthly.
Wednesday would never admit how much she liked Enid’s ridiculous pastel clothes. Enid was sweet, almost cloyingly so, but the girl was loyal and protective too, almost overly so. So when Enid bounces into their shared room all pastels and giggles, she can’t help a slight smile, continuing to type her novel on her typewriter even as she considers the implications of ‘Bee Happy’. Eugene, she thinks almost lazily, would love seeing it. Perhaps, in the end, that’s why Enid chose it. Eugene is back, Enid is back to her happy self and… Wednesday is happy, quietly happy, content with her life.

when woe speaks part 10
Everything is about to shatter. Enid is giving the cold shoulder, Xavier is about to find them, and Wednesday needs to figure this out fast before it's too late. She has most of the answers she needs...executing the final step is the tricky part.
I had once convinced Pugsley to trap me in one of the spare coffins in the house. I stayed until air left my lungs in strained wheezes. Stayed until death came to kiss me. Until it took the colors from my eyes and showed me the stars.
I swallowed the memory to replace it instead with the kiss of dread clawing down my throat. I could still feel the ghost of Enid’s lips on mine. It was incredibly unprofessional, but the thought stuck to my brain like a tumor. I saw stars once more, not in the aftermath of asphyxiation, but in the swell of anticipation for the door to open. It would be any moment now, I was sure of it. I knew Enid felt it coming too, the way her hair stood on its ends in a halo of sunlight-colored strands.
My eyes dipped to her lips. I closed them in protest. She saw my reaction and took a step to stand between me and the door. She thought I was afraid. Truly, I was hoping for anything to take the tension away. We waited. The silence grew into a titan of warning. Stretched itself into every crevice around. Snaked around our ankles ready to pull us down.
Xavier’s footsteps stopped. His shadow under the door stared right at me. The doorknob shook as his hand wrapped around it. Enid’s hands came up near my nose, white-knuckled with tension as her claws readied to cleave through flesh. I had to wrangle my own mind not to forget our current predicament and focus only on the sharpness of them. Her eagerness to attack first threw me off guard. I hadn’t seen her…like this. Hadn’t had the chance to witness ripples of terror-fueled rage crumple her youthful features. Hadn’t realized exactly how lethal just her glare could be. Had I been at the receiving end of this one…
