putting my thoughts under the cut in case people dont want to spoil themself on arle voicelines

currently obsessed with the view our current harbingers have of the Tsaritsa. both childe and arlecchino greatly respect her even if arlecchino is dubiously loyal to the Tsaritsa at best. they both talk about her as a figure who is gentle and compassionate, completely at odds with both the organization she allows to commit horrible acts (dottore. its a lot of dottore. he canonically took children from the hoth under the old knave if they were no longer considered "useful" and used as test subjects). shes described as someone with no love left for her people yet the harbingers we've heard talk about her never seem to describe her in such a manner. of course, childe mentions she had to harden herself to complete her goal, but he still notes that shes too gentle. the more we learn about her the more i want to meet her purely because she is contradictions all the way down and its great!!! taking whatever scraps i can get and its perfectly in line with my characterization too so i stay winning

the thing that beat the depression today for me was remembering that Phoenix Wright was in a fighting game with marvel super people and the 3d art style is so ugly but his mere existence in it is so fucking funny. His move set consists of pointing and examining the ground and paperwork with a break every once in a while to pull Maya out to energy blast whatever famous superhero is in his way...

I like to think that that duo can absolutely kick ass together but are constantly getting fucked up in the games (physically assaulted, kidnapped, accused of murder, hit by a car...) only because it's funny. We already know that Pheonix is strong enough to break down doors and break locks with little effort so it would make sense that he's decently strong. And I just think Maya is holding out on us with her energy blasts but she can do that with no explanation at all.

I'm relistening to I am in Eskew at the same time as the Silt Verses come out and it's so fun seeing ideas introduced in Eskew resurface in TSV, like I just finished ep. 24 and the way the History Society works is so much like our new scary war saint!!! Obsessed

#i love you authors with frightening ideas coming at them from multiple angles #eskew productions you have my whole heart #both shows are obviously very different from each other but i absolutely love the wet gross meatiness of the horror in both #they're also both quite lonely shows imo #different types of lonely- David (saddest wettest little meow meow ever) is alone in a way Carpenter isn't #but Carpenter is so phenomenally lonely in a way that only seems to ho away when she is by herself #Falkner and Riyo are also pretty lonely people but to me it doesn't run as harsh as David and Carpenter #all this to say I adore these strange worlds and their stranger people and the gorgeous prose they're written in #another David/Carpenter parallel- being so deeply loved by a thing that loves wrongly #I'm trying to remember something i heard in a Jacob Geller video about the way houses love their people but they were not designed to love #and so they are haunted instead #anyway that's Eskew and the Trawllerman #also obsessed with the way Faulkner is fratricidally desperate for the Trawllerman to love him as well #and the way Riyo dismisses Eskew out of hand like she simply does not care for the City bc even though David hates Eskew #he cannot help it- he needs to be a part of Eskew he cannot let it go until the end #I'm insane. anyway #i am in eskew #the silt verses #tsv #i don't think there's an acronym for eskew

funny side of self medicating with the Shameless US subreddit tho; i realised that apparently i'm quite a minority for adoring Ian's S7-S8 gay jesus story arc and apparently most people really hated that plotline?? which is honestly hilarious because Ian's gay jesus story is one of the most significant and complex and intellectually charged parts of Shameless for me, it actually felt so congruent and coherent as a story, was executed in a very sincere and honest fashion, and the van blowup scene had me screaming at the top of my lungs. Every bit of that plotline is the least politically censored Shameless has ever been while not becoming too phony and preachy about it, and every bit of it is so incessantly and dearly Ian ❤️❤️❤️ like, he has so many many stellar insane (affectionate) moments in the show but if i have to only remember him for three my top choices are the moment he ties Fiona in a knot over how the family made an easy scapegoat of him with bipolar disorder as their excuse, the moment he defends Lip in his university reconsideration hearing, and the moment he blows up the van. Like, those moments are how i see him; emotionally honest, courageous (bordering on utter recklessness) and an iconoclast.

#the iconoclast status he used to very much share with Lip which was the reason i dearly adored their connection #they are both brutally honest people but Ian speaks from the heart and Lip speaks from the mind #well. i mean. begore the decided to write off the whole entire ''genius trapped in dire circumstances'' portion of his character #god i love love love loved Ian & Lip together. the way they used to tore into each other #it was one of the focal points of Shameless for me; and it's one of the many things i grieve about the show #Ian Gallagher #shameless
