Trying to be productive at work today but all I can think about are these fox toes I'm trying to design.

Smol.

Red fox toe beans are ridiculously small compared to most canines, so small they're not usually visible on winter coat foxes. Because of that, I don't usually bother putting them on my fox plush. Sewing tiny things adds considerable time and effort, and isn't worth bumping up the price for something hardly anyone will even see.

But.

I'm making a summer coat fox next. The beans are a lot easier to see when the toe fur isn't quite so floof, and I'm as much a sucker for beans as anyone else on the internet, so. Here we go.

I designed the original pattern with this possibility in mind, so it's mostly a matter of drawing into the existing pattern and adding some strategic darts. But placement--and where and how big to make those darts is where the "trying" comes in. I'm on my second draft (the picture above) and I feel pretty good about this one.

I thought about sewing claws out of fabric for about 5 seconds and decided I didn't hate myself that much (my wolves have sewn claws and they're the worst ever to sew, turn, and stuff). I'm using foam, at least until I figure out a more durable but still plushie-gentle material. I've done clay claws twice and they're both difficult to install and also not very cuddle-proof (unless you enjoy the authenticity of being clawed by the animal you're holding), though I do have some cosclay I could try which is softer. Felt lasts about 5 minutes before looking like my hair after it rains, and folded faux leather turns to string cheese. But the foam claws on my coyote have held up well for the last 3 years so I'm giving it another go with an even thicker foam. But if anyone has any suggestions please do let me know!

I was letting out my dogs and saw a whitemarked tussock moth larvae lil dude.just eeping its was along the fence. So cute lol.

This is a fun and crazy looking caterpillar, I love it!!

They look venomous, but they are not.

Here are my personal f.ox pelts as of 4/25/23. Largest is 66” (ranched smokey and ranched silver ringneck) and smallest is 35” (wild silver pup).

From left to right:

Ranched: wild red color, dark Euro smokey, Euro silver ringneck, silver whitemark, red platinum, Euro mystery hybrid, Euro hybrid apricot frost, blue arctic.

My beautiful whitemark cross fo.x from @orangelionfurandtaxidermy finally arrived! A whitemark cross has been top of my want list for years, so very happy to have this one. He's so big and fluffy! I fell in love with his markings and dark colours as soon as I saw him. Unfortunately he does have a lot of damage that put me off a bit, but he's so pretty I had to have him. The main issues were some very large holes on the underside and his butt was badly ripped up. Soon as I got him out the box I got out my sewing needle and fixed up all the holes. Thankfully it didn't end up being too hard to sew him up and he looks much better now! All he needs is a replacement tail and he'll be perfect. Lighting is terrible so photos don't do him justice at all. He's so much prettier in person. He's also my biggest and fluffiest fo.x to date!

Rating Turbo FAST Ships

Yo guys! It's been a while I haven't posted some stuff here, sooo… I was thinking to make an post about ships and I decided to share some ships of Turbo Fast to rate, probably I will do more, I just need to make some clarifications about the rating

8 to 10: GOOD

7 to 5: Neutral

4 to 0: BAD

Ik this was not necessary but just a reminder, this is based completely 100% on my opinions, Soo.. Let's goooooo!!

8/10 - Turdmark (Turbo x Skidmark)

Tbh in beginning i didn't saw so much potential in this ship, I DIDN'T understand why people shipped them, but when I started to watch turbo fast I could understand why people shipped them, their dynamic IT'S SO GOOOD KDKAJED, I believe if they had more development I would give 10, btw Turdmark still an good ship!!

6/10 - WhiteMark (White Shadow x Skidmark)

Yeah another SKIDMARK SHIP AGAIN AKSKAJJDSJ, I saw some few people shipping these two, I can find this ship cute? Yeah, but tbh I think their dynamic work more an platonic friends than an possible couple, and another reason I can't find them having an romantic relationship it's cuz I don't see Shadow having any romantic interest in anyone, but idc if you ship them :)

7/10 - Turdcase (Hardcase x Turbo)

I not surprised there's some people shipping these two, besides “enemies to lovers“ is an famous ship trope, actually Turdcase it's a pretty popular ship as like Turdmark in the fandom, I don't have many thoughts on this ship, I don't like so much “enemies to lovers” trope, tbh I have the same thought I has with shadow, hardcase seems he is not really into on romance, but even I don't ship them, it's not a bad ship, I will give 7 for them!!

7/10 - Smooplash (Smoove x Whiplash)

I didn't even know there's was some people ships them, I can see why some people ships them, but personally I think whiplash is too much for Smoove, ik my man has some heart but he is too serious for him 😭, and I see their dynamic more like platonic than an romantic way, like they being old friends thing, but apart of it, it would be interesting to see how they would work as an couple, they still not a bad ship :)

3/10 - Turyaku - (Turbo x Hayaku)

Yeahhh, another ship that was once popular on fandom, personally this ship just doesn't work, shipping them seems so forced considering what's happened between them on season 3, I believe if they had more interactions and development (of course WITHOUT turbo being so desperate for her) I would give an chance to this ship, but this ships kinda sucks tbh, anyways, if you ship them idc, be happy :)

How close are some of these ranch colours to really going extinct? What are some of the rarest/closest ones? Could they just be bred again in the future?

Some types currently have zero living examples, some others have less than ten. There’s actually a lot of types that are already extinct and will never come back. There used to be a brindle fox, or a Whitemark Silver with white ears. Radium fox is gone, but a similar type has emerged (Slate Glow) so this might be the same mutation.

Burgundy and (Pearl) Slate Glow fox pelts. Notice the white hairs all over the Slate Glow? Now read this article about the Radium fox.

The rarest types are mixed colors, foxes with multiple different color genes which are all expressed in the same fox. This would be Burgundy Gold Whitemark for example, of which I think there are currently none in Europe and maybe one in the US. If this color dies out, it can be brought back but it will take several years. You’d have to breed a Burgundy (already very difficult to find) to a Gold Whitemark fox (if you don’t have one, breed Gold x Silver Whitemark). You then have Gold (Whitemark) foxes which are Burgundy carriers. Breed those animals to a Burgundy again, and you get more carriers and also Burgundy Gold + possibly a Burgundy Gold Whitemark. No luck? Try the previous pairing again. This potentially takes 3 years, more if you are unlucky. Keeping track of lineages is super important, as is knowledge of color genes.

If a base mutation goes extinct there is really no way to bring it back. For example if all Marbles died out there’s no way to bring it back by breeding some other colors together as all foxes which have the Marble gene also show it. Same with Platinum, Whitemark, Ringneck and Georgian (Snow).

There’s also different lines, foxes bred in one country it even by just one farmer. Norway used to have foxes with very long fur, called Norwegian type. With Norway’s fur farming ban, some animals were moved abroad but most were pelted. Finding a pure Norwegian fox is getting harder and harder nowadays, and their unique look is dying out.

US Gold Platinum vs Norwegian Gold Platinum. Norwegian breeders aimed for a darker look for the Gold Platinum, as well as larger size, good health and LNAP (longnap = long hairs) fur.

Appears that the right sleeve of my cross fox fur jacket was made from a whitemark cross! Lovely white markings around the neck and the underbelly.

I think this unique pelt adds more charm to this jacket and to the casual fur buyer I don't think it's noticable. This is why I strongly urge furriers to buy mutation fox skins, even if the pelt doesn't perfectly match it is still going to look incredible on the finished garment.

I snagged this gorgeous silver ringneck f.ox from @orangeliontaxidermy ! I couldn’t resist! I highly recommend. Absolutely beautiful and amazing quality. This pelt is so huge and fluffy. It puts my silver whitemark pelt to shame.
