the tf2 fandom on tumblr is in such dire straits, it wraps around from being annoying to being funny

no one knows anything about the time period it's set in. no one knows anything about the time period it was written in. no one knows the media genre it's parodying. no one knows how to write mostly-middleaged, mostly-white men who are intentionally and comedically a product of their time and individual cultures. no one seems to even realize each character is hugely informed by (the stereotyped version of) their culture. no one is comfortable engaging with the old war propaganda it's satirizing. no one knows anything about guns. some people actually think the sniper is 26

it's hard to watch, but then again the official comics post-2015 fall into every single one of these pitfalls too so like. maybe a lack of media literacy isn't just a fandom problem

I decided to just lump the gen fic together with the slash because really most of them can be read as slash with a G rating. Before we get into the fics, here are some notable authors that have written several house fics. Not all their fics are going to be listed individually, but if I have the author there I've read all or a lot of their stuff and enjoyed it, so I recommend going through their backlog.

otter: Some really excellent prose and great atmosphere. A little soft, a little pensive. And they nail the characterisation and dialogue.

ignaz: im sure everyone has read ignaz's longfic (a modest proposal and its sequel — the one where house and wilson get married so wilson cant testify against house in the tritter arc) but absolutely check out all their other stuff — it's all quality.

bironic: I really enjoy the bit of edge in bironic's fics. It makes them so yummy.

bethfrish: What stands out about their fics is how they peer into all the pointy edges of Wilson and Julie's relationship, thus making them excellent and unique Wilson character studies. Great prose and dialogue that rivals the show's.

Transformatron: fics that are transcendent and porny, all featuring a d/s undertone or theme (wilson as the dom)

astolat: if u dont know astolat idk what to say to u. just go read their fics.

blackmare (livejournal / ao3 pseud 1 / ao3 pseud 2 / lj pseud third_owl for slash fics i think) Does really great short fics (mostly gen) that slot into episodes. Like meta but in fic form. All of them are worth a read. Some of their fics are on ao3 but a lot aren't (like nearly all the episodic ones).

Namaste (livejournal / ff.net): Some short fics, some much longer ones. Mostly gen focussing on H&W friendship, with some fics on canon pairings. Interesting character studies and exceptionally discerning prose that is a pleasure to read.

This fic emotionally obliterated me. I’m obsessed with the format like it’s prose halfway to poetry, so creative and unique and well-executed??? I cried so much. I am UNWELL and immeasurably fucked up about them put me in my grave. (Yeah I said these lists were mutually exclusive but this fic is the exception bc idc)

The Awakening of Wils-Ankh-Amun, Royal Concubine by blackmare, Nightdog_barks, pwcorgigirl (1k) It was a rather unusual 'morning after.' This is hilarious. Reads like a classic prank episode. They're so dumb together I love them.

The One Where House Has Always Been a Woman by thedeadparrot (1k) (2009) Despite the hospital gossip, House is not, in fact, a man-hating lesbian. Genderswapped House but not Wilson.

Gray Morning by starlingthefool (1k) All he remembers is that the transition between a stupid joke and the meeting of mouths was almost seamless. Christmas fic that takes place one year after "Merry Little Christmas" (3.10).

Loser Day Blues by blackmare, Nightdog_Barks (1k) February fourteenth is just another day, and another evening in which Wilson winds up at House’s, although — this time — not for the usual reasons.

***Curiosity by Namaste (2k) (2006) From Cameron's perspective. Fun character study of her and by extension House and the other two musketeers. Not shippy.

*Keep Your Eyes Wide by deepimpact (2k) There is no specific amount of time passed, no big event, no one thing that Wilson can pin as the catalyst. Obsessed with this. Great atmosphere, excellent prose, and and everything feels authentic and in character. Set pre-season/s1.

***Carrion Eaters by ignaz House, in some indeterminate future or an alternate universe, from the perspective of a new hire. I really loved this story. It's sharp and sad, with great build up.

***Projection by bironic (2k) Remember Ali, that really pretty 17/18 year old clinic patient that was obsessed with House? This fic is Wilson's elaborate fantasy about fucking her, which is of course as much about House as it is her. Post 3.04.

***No Exchange of Payment by otter (2k) The gifts that House gives to Wilson. I adore this. It's about the little things. Otter has exceptional prose and always nails the characterisation, which makes their writing a real pleasure to read.

***All the Effects of Intoxication (3k) by otter This only happens when they're drunk. Just as yummy as that one-line description suggests. I love this a lot — the characterisation and dialogue are excellent and I think this scenario is very realistic for them.

Leave This Harbor for the Sea by otter (3k) House was never the kind of friend who'd help you move, even when he'd had two good legs, not to mention two good arms perfectly capable of lifting boxes. He'd always been the sort of friend who'd stop by while you were packing, make cutting remarks about the failures of your romantic relationships, and use all the half-filled boxes as an excuse to root through your things.

***the growing up, the falling down by riceonrye (3k for the series) Wilson is trying to buy a nice make-up present for his girlfriend, but there’s a guy in the shop with him brazenly shoplifting. Wilson, meet House. This is so good!!! I grinned like an idiot all the way through. It captures the throw-bottles-at-windows side of Wilson so well. A very cute AU of a different first meeting whilst still remaining true to the characters. Don't forget to read the sequel as well.

***never rains (but it pours) by Transformatron (3k) So... remember that episode where House can't pee? I present you some excellently written pisskink pwp. Nails the hilson dynamic, so even if piss isn't your thing, give it a go?

***Blind Spot by blackmare, Nightdog_Barks (3k) Wilson becomes blind after a head injury. genfic.

***Four Blocks South of Eden by bethfrish (3k) If you wanted paradise, you're a little off. I loved the tentative, slightly off-kilter feeling of this. Bang on characterisation, dialogue, and use of 2nd person POV (House). Set in s1 — Wilson's marriage is falling apart, and it leads to a night that could be the start of something new.

***Lie To Me by zulu (4k) It's terribly simple. No one ever dies, and everybody lives happily ever after. Exuberant ketamine summer House!!! Equal parts sexy and heartbreaking. Check out the sequel as well (1k).

Stumbling Towards Something Real by ignaz (4k) House and Wilson on holiday in Mexico. (A flagrant excuse for smut, basically.) I'm soft. In character and well-written.

Goes the Neighbourhood by Dee_Laundry (4k) One month into their permanent positions, the new fellows catch a case on the weekend and have to track House down.

***Easy by GoldStarGrl (4k) James Wilson is the easiest person in his dorm. At McGill. In all of eastern Canada, maybe. A fleshed-out version of their first meeting, as well as an insightful character study of Wilson. Slots nicely into canon, whether you believe in the "wilson has cheated on every wife with house" version or the "they fucked when they first met and never talked about it again" version. I really enjoyed this — they’re beautifully in character, and it's excellent writing.

***A Momentary Lapse of Reason by otter (5k) Wilson and Julie through House’s eyes, from the beginning to the end. Skips back and forth between the past and now. The quiet yearning!!! Also *standing on the table with a megaphone* have i mentioned how GORGEOUS otter's prose is??

*Blow the Candles Out by bethfrish (5k) Another year older, another year wiser, another divorce lurking just around the corner. So good!!! Wilson celebrates his birthday amongst the detritus of his marriage. The prose is really exceptional here. House's dialogue is also especially well done. It's a fun read that holds up well on a re-read.

***midnight rain by GoldStarGrl (5k) Wilson can't possibly know the pain. But he wants to. I am vibrating!!! Set precanon, in the aftermath of the infarction. Infidelity, spanking, hello??? Hot, vivid, excellent characterisation, excellent writing etc etc. A+ no notes.

***Through The Looking Glass (The Male Gaze Mashup) by zulu (5k) "If Wilson didn't know, great. What he didn't know couldn’t hurt him. If Wilson did know, it didn't matter, because if he hadn't berated House for it yet, then it was permission to continue." Interesting character study of Wilson and the way House slots into his life. Imaginative and fun descriptions. I did feel slightly lost at some points but it was still a great read. Excerpt: House tears open every envelope, even those addressed to Occupant, then brings back the well-read contents like a cat offering half-dead moles to its hunting-deficient human.

Empathy, Inc. by sassyjumper (5k) Cuddy hires a company that provides 'empathy training' to doctors. House reacts. Set in an earlier season.

***All's Fair In Love (and war) by Transformatron (6k) House and Wilson are enjoying the last day of their holiday when an urgent call comes through from Princeton-Plainsboro - a medical mystery that only House can solve. And he does intend to solve it, despite Wilson's best efforts to distract him. (Established relationship.) Wilson making House do a case whilst fucking him?? I'm an absolute sucker for this trope and I was delighted to find a fic with it.

A Towered Citadel by Namaste (7k) A differential diagnosis for Wilson’s serial cheating.

***And the Borders of Old Cities Get Redrawn by blackmare (7k) Continuation/canon divergence from 8.02 "Transplant". Ch1 is the most perfect episode tag I am vibrating . The way they fall back into their old rhythm!! House seeking out his touch like a cat and Wilson accepting it, even liking it!! The hints of pre-relationship are so delicious. (This is a rare slash fic from blackmare.) Ch2&3 are also absolutely brilliant!! Great characterisation, pacing, and tension-building.

A Voice in Ramah (Welcome to Holland) by ignaz (8k) Cuddy POV on her pregnancy journey. Diverges from the show. Really well done. ignaz did this topic and Cuddy's character justice. I also particularly liked House in this one.

Singapore by thedeadparrot (8k) (2009) In which the boys go to a medical conference in Singapore, House has a few surprises up his sleeve, and Wilson figures some things out.

*A Helping Hand by bironic (9k) Wilson has an unusually rough day and House decides (somewhat despite himself) to help. Things go further than he planned. A believable foray into non-platonic territory, set in between 2.22 (Forever) and 2.24 (No Reason). What better way to take your mind off your patients than a good-ol handjob between friends? Chuck in an absolutely delicious fucked-up overtone characteristic of them and we're golden.

House becomes obsessed with him after he off-handedly gives the correct differential diagnosis. spqr is an excellent writer that I've followed across multiple fandoms, and this fic did not disappoint. Well-written, great chemistry, hilarious. I could read 100k of this.

***atonement in the locker room after hours by missaa (2k) robert chase makes two mistakes in one day Tags: Unhealthy Coping Mechanisms, degradation, God Complex, Catholic Guilt This is just as yummy as those tags make it sound. Someone needed to capitalise on the whole *waves hand vaguely* thing that Chase has going on and by god did this person rise to the occasion. Love the characterisation and the elegant prose, and the structure that flashes back and forth between two scenes. I'm insane!

Chase/Foreman Shoutout to ignaz who sold me on this pairing.

*Pretty Harsh (Confirmatory Testing Remix) by everybodylies (2k) Foreman might have flirted with Chase six months ago for like thirty seconds. Chase can't stop thinking about it.

***Two For The Road by ignaz (3k) For the first ever Foreman Fest, prompt 107 -- "after a break and enter gone wrong, Foreman and Chase are both sentenced to 300 hours of community service, which it looks like they're gonna spend picking up trash on the side of the road." Really solid writing (I mean it’s ignaz), believable characterisation and relationship building. I love them 💓💓💓 just overall a real pleasure to read. Also it's hilarious.

3 films I could watch for the rest of my life and not get bored of: I don't really watch movies that often, so I'm just gonna have tv shows for my answer. Dungeon Meshi (Delicious in Dungeon), Black Mirror, The End of the Fucking World.

Good advice: I'm definitely not the person to ask for advice. I'm struggling with a ton of shit right now. I guess just like. Don't give up, even if things are hard, it will get better. Also enjoy little details in your life. For example, I love the rain! :3. idk

3 things that make me happy: There are lots of things that make me happy! This one's easy but also really hard. I'll just pick like my three favorite things ig :3 My girlfriend @halfdrunkdoggirl (I love her sooo much <3), Netflix (it's the only streaming service I have and I love watching TV), New Blood Interactive (publisher of ULTRAKILL, DUSK, and AMID EVIL)

think it wouldve been a fun idea for the enchanted rose in beauty and the beast to have been like. like a regular rose but just cursed. like a potted rose that he had to take care of. and like. instead of wilting as his birthday approached or whatever like. if he let it die, he would be stuck as a beast. like. frankly i think he needed a hobby. obviously trapping him in a beasts body didnt make him nicer. but i think taking care of plants is calming for a lot of people so maybe that wouldve helped instead of. just punishment without any sort of lesson or whatever. like imagine this

he's given the rose. its a sad little thing, a single, small rose in a tiny pot. if it wilts, he'll remain a beast forever, the enchantress tells him. if he wants to be human again, first he must keep it alive. and then someone must love him, truly, willing, without pressure or bribery. they must come to love him on their own. the enchantress leaves him. there are no servants trapped in the castle. he is alone, with this terrible rose in its terrible pot. he ignores it at first. he hates it, hates the sight of the thing, hates the sight of what he's become.

it starts wilting, as plants are wont to do when you neglect them. he hates it. he tends to it, because he hates himself more.

he has never cared for anything before. he's never needed to; they had gardeners for that. he doesnt know how to care for a plant. he finds a book in the library about gardening and reads it, the entire thing, with the terrible rose on the table in front of him. he tends to it as the book details. he finds other books on plants and gardening, and for awhile, that's how he spends his time. reading, tending to the rose, passing out on a table in his library.

he remembers, suddenly, violently, that he still needs to eat to live. the first few days of his lonely imprisonment pass in a odd blur, and, without servants to care for him, he forgets to eat. he doesnt know how to cook, of course, so he reads about that as well.

this is how he spends much of his time. he learns. he had always been a quick learner when he was a child, but as he'd grown older he'd... forgotten, somehow. forgotten that there were things he really enjoyed.

the rose does well under his care. it grows as the time passes, and soon enough he has to move it to a larger pot. he found several pots and various gardening tools in the greenhouse when he decided to take care of the garden in addition to the rose.

and this is how it goes. for several years. he reads, he learns, takes up new hobbies, cares for the garden, cares for his rose. he is lonely, but there isnt much to be done about that. the rose continues to grow until it stops being a single rose and starts being a rose bush, and he moves it from the pot to the ground in the garden.

time keeps moving, as time is wont to do.

there is someone in his home.

they are possibly his age, possibly pretty, certainly muddy, and definitely holding a rose. one of his roses, from his rose bush. the rose bush his curse is tied to.

he panics.

he doesnt scream, anymore, so much as he roars. they run. they fall, and he is concerned, but not enough to override his fear. he chases them out of his home. they flee into the woods. they dropped the rose in front of the fireplace. he collects it and places it in the ground at the bottom of the rose bush. he knows things can be planted this way; he hopes it works with roses.

the wolves are out. he can hear them, and it sounds like they're hunting something. something that screams, and sounds like the intruder he just scared away. his panic, which had only just begun to fade, surges back full force. they are in the woods because of him. he goes in after them.

he feels more fear than he invokes, he is sure, but he manages to fight off the wolves anyway. the intruder is unconscious, bleeding. he takes them into the home he'd chased them away from. luckily, he'd read some books about medicine and caring for wounds; he's able to treat the wounds that are visible to him.

he doesnt touch anywhere he doesnt see blood. he doesnt touch the bruises on their arms that he is sure did not come from any wolves.

he leaves them to rest, and goes to find those medical texts. it seems like a good time to refresh his mind on the subject.

they wake later, or maybe the next day. he tends to lose time when he reads.

they are frightened, of course, but they are also injured, so they cant do anything about it. he keeps his distance anyways. he doesnt know if its for their benefit or his.

he only gets close to bring them food and to check on their injuries.

they never speak. sometimes they look like they want to, but they never follow through.

he wonders about this (he wonders about everything) but he doesnt want to push them.

one day, a few days into their impromptu stay, he realizes they might not speak the same language as him. maybe they dont speak because they dont believe he'll understand. he never thought to ask.

so he does, when he comes to change their bandages. he's learned a few different languages throughout the past few years, though admittedly, he doesnt know how to speak conversationally in any of them. he only had books to learn from, not people. he figures he can try, though.

it isnt necessary, however. he asks can you understand me?

and they nod. he is baffled further. he forgets his manners and asks, bluntly, can you speak? he regrets this immediately upon hearing the words, and adds i'm sorry, that was rude its none of my business-

they shake their head. he pauses. you can't? can you write, perhaps? they nod. he nearly runs out of the room for paper and a pen.

they begin to talk, in their own ways. he speaks, they write. he asked if they would rather he wrote as well, but they didnt mind him speaking. so he does.

he talked to himself and his plants quite a bit over the years, but his intruder, his guest, is the first person he's spoken to in years.

he enjoys it. he enjoys them, enjoys the company. he learns about them.

he learns nice things: their name, their favorite book, a funny story.

he learns mundane things: how many blankets they like to sleep, that they dont like as much salt as him, the volume of their sneeze.

he learns... things he isn't happy about: why they were in the woods running for their life, the origin of those bruises on their arms, of a family and town that refused to accept them.

of a family who called them the wrong name, who believed that marriage would solve what they perceived as a problem.

of a town that let it happen, that encouraged it.

he learned these things, and felt anger, felt rage, for the first time in a long time.

(he stopped being angry about his situation a long time ago. he fell into resignation like it was a routine.)

he didnt offer them this anger. he could tell they had enough of their own. instead he offered them safety. he gave them the option to stay, for as long as they wanted, and promised to keep them safe if they wished.

(he used their name firmly when he made this offer. their real name, the one they told him, not the one that made them clench their jaw and tears well up in their eyes.)

(maybe tears did well up when he used this one, but it was for a different reason. a better reason.)

they stay. they heal, slowly, and he splits his time now between them and the rose bush. while they heal, he brings them books to read, paper to write on, food to eat. once they can leave their bed again, he gives them the grand tour.

(he makes a dramatic gesture when he says this, and they laugh at him. his heart melts.)

he shows them the entirety of the castle, saving his favorite places for the end; the kitchens, the library, the tower, and the gardens.

he thinks they might pass out when they see the library, their hand coming up over their heart like they're having a heart attack. maybe they are; it's a beautiful place. the gardens are visible from the big window, and the upper part of the window is stained glass. the room is golden at most times of the day, and it turns rainbow at sunrise.

they stay in the library for a long time before moving to the gardens. when they see the rose bush, they scratch out an apology on their paper for the rose they tried to take.

he shrugs. he doesnt explain why he reacted the way he did that night. he had talked so much already, and he finds, suddenly, that he doesnt have the energy to explain that part of his life. i forgive you, he says instead, and he means it, and they move on.

and so their lives continue, but this time together. his life expands to include them. he reads, and he tells them about the things he learns, and they do the same. he tends to the rose, to the garden, and they sit with him while he does. he finds a book on sign language, and they begin learning it together.

he doesnt think about his curse. he nearly forgets about it entirely, too wrapped up in having a friend to worry about it.

a cold night brings bad dreams for them. he is woken by their crying, and goes to them. he wakes them carefully, and they dont want to stay in their room. they dont want to fall asleep again. they sit together in the drawing room they both like best. he lights the fireplace and lays on the carpet in front of it, and they drape themself across him as gracefully as a sack of flour (which is to say they threw themself on him and stayed exactly where they landed).

he tells them about something he read, in a soft voice, because they ask him to. it is, however, the middle of the night, and he is tired. eventually his voice grows even softer and his story is broken up by yawns, and they grow tired with him. as they both doze off, they sign against his chest i love you, because they do. he says i love you too, because he does. they both fall asleep.

he is different when they wake. he comes to the startling realization that he never explained the curse to them, and has to explain first thing that morning. he explains that the curse is broken by love. i thought she meant romantic love, he tells them, so i thought it would never be broken, he gives them a soft smile.

i guess she wasnt very specific then, they say, with a smile back.

he hugs his best friend tight, and they rock him back and forth.

the rose bush keeps growing. he tends to it, and his best friend sits with him as he does. he gives them a rose from it, one that was pulled off the bush once but never wilted despite it.

they love each other. not in the way the enchantress had in mind, not in the way the town tried to force, but in a way that was just as strong and just as beautiful.

jj loves falling asleep over penelope, and loves holding one of her hands and just fiddling with her fingers (interlacing them, kissing her knuckles, etc)

Penelope always played with jjs hair when they do that, and she loves trying to make a braid with just one hand. sometimes she tangles jjs hair a little and they laugh 🥰🥰

when JJ is having a bad day she sits cross-legged on one of Penelope’s desks and just fiddles with Penelope’s toys

occasionally throughout the day penelope will go over and just hold her waist and rest her head on one of JJ’s thighs and JJs hand automatically goes to her head and starts fiddling with her hair

On days where she can’t stay in Penelope’s office she takes one of the toys with her and is fiddling with it all days and doesn’t let go for too long

On those days when they get home they cuddle and sometimes if it was really bad jj will break down and cry into Penelope’s shoulder and Penelope just comforts her through it 🥺🥺🥺

sometimes she also gets really touch averted so they’ll just sit next to each other while jj sobs into her hands, and Penelope just sits with her so she doesn’t feel alone 🥺🥺

On game nights they always have so much fun and they rarely bicker over the color/object of the players because penny will always go for the smallest or pink one and jj will always go for the one with more texture or blue one (ex. on the life game, penny gets the pink car and jj gets the blue one, or monopoly, jj gets the Statue of Liberty because it has a lot of bumps and she runs her fingers through them all the time because it calms her down and helps her feel grounded, and penny gets the hat because it’s small and sometimes she likes to just run her fingers through the “hem” — they rarely ever leave their pieces on the board which causes them to forget where they were but it’s ok cuz they always have fun 🥰🥰)

On their days off, they like to go on picnics and jj takes care of the setting while Penelope takes care of the snacks

jj always picks somewhere with a body of water, usually a river but they live nearby a lake and sometimes they go there as well

she absolutely loves seeing the water just move on the river or just stare at the cute ducks on the lake

Penny always has cookies and extra money in her bag cuz she knows jjs gonna want to get ice cream

at dinner time, usually penny cooks, but jjs always with her, sitting on the counter and trying to help out (even tho penny said not to worry, and that she likes to do it by herself, and also to give jj a break from always working), and when she has nothing to do (or nothing in her hands to fiddle with) she’ll set the table extra nice with candles and wine

jj loves when they’re too lazy or too tired to cook anything so she just makes ham and cheese sandwiches for them and they sit on the couch and watch TV.

Penny loves putting on romantic dramas or romantic comedies while jj likes putting on western/action movies (it gives closure she never got as a kid 🥺💔)

One thing they can’t watch is horror because then the next day they can’t really do their job right because they just keep going back to the movie that depicts what they only see the aftermath of (like yeah they see the dead body and they’re informed of sa, but if a movie is graphic enough that it’ll depict it, then the next time they hear a victim was SAed they’ll be able to picture it and it just makes the job a lot harder to do 🥺💔)

On a lighter note, they have movie nights every Saturday and a lot of times they settle for Disney movies, and they’ve watched lady and the tramp so much that they know a lot of the dialogue

They also sometimes like to put it on mute and make up their own dialogue, and they always have so much fun with it

They have this little plush toy they keep in between them, so when one has a nightmare they can cuddle it while also cuddling each other (like if jj has a nightmare, she’ll get cuddles from penny, with the plushy in her own arms)

every morning they wake up half an hour earlier then they’re supposed to so that they can be lazy in bed and steal sleepy kisses and still get up in time and not be late for work

they never tried to hide their relationship from the team, but they weren’t necessarily public about it.

Hotch was the first to know, and he’s like “there’s fraternization rules against it, so no one on this team should be in a relationship” but then pulls them aside and he’s like, I don’t know nothing, I ain’t see nothing, but if hypocritically there was something, I’d be happy with it, BUT I DONT KNOW NOTHING (aka, he supports their relationship, but doesn’t want them to get in trouble 🥺🥰)

the next to find out is Morgan and he’s * o f f e n d e d * that his bbg never told him and she was like “you never asked 🤷” and he’s like “yeah, fair point” (obv. he also supports it)

When Elle finds out she’s like “hot.” And they both blush, but she’s supportive and it hurts them more then anyone else when she leaves because she’s the only other queer woman they’re close with, but then when Emily joins, she can smell the gays a mile away and it brings them a bit of comfort

When Spencer find out he’s also * o f f e n d e d * they didn’t tell him, but he gets super excited and buys them a bunch a Pride stuff for them because he knows they might not use it so he gets an excuse to have gay shit lying around his house (🚪🚪🚪)

Gideon never really payed attention to their “friendship” but when hotch offhandedly mentions it he acts like he already knew, and doesn’t make a big deal out of it (let’s be honest this man is an ally ☺️☺️)

I started this sideblog cause I had too many followers on my main and I didn’t want my stuff to be seen by that many people at first, so whatever I did probably isn’t what you’re looking for :( but really there isn’t much to it, just post whatever you like to draw, tag it as best as you can (but remember that only the first five tags appear in the search page) and be patient, since whatever you do at first you won’t get much attention anyway - the only real advice I can give is to draw something that makes you happy and that you’d draw anyway even if no one were to see it, it’ll make keep posting despite a possible lack of activity a lot easier!

isn't making ling the sin of lust kinda weird, because he is a minor, and it's like, sexualizing him

i fully understand that ppl may have that knee jerk reaction or overall reaction to the au due to the way lots of media depicts and discusses the concept of the sin lust, however i put a lot of thought, time, and effort into this au over the span of years to actively avoid that. and if you still feel uncomfortable about it no matter how much i talk about how i actively avoid such issue then yeah, you can block the tag or even me, idc. but that is a concern i heavily took into account and which is why i carefully created the au the way i have. 

if lust as a sin was inherently about sex like folks often assume it was then i wouldnt have even bothered with the au, however, lots of literature and explorations of the 7 deadly sins further elaborate it essentially being a desire of anything in excess, or more than you need. it bleeds into the sin of greed often times. lots of folks who dont further research abt it often assume the general like mainstream christian concept of it is the only, or "true" depiction of it, which is why i understand many ppl who may have this sorta reaction to it. which i apologize if that just sounds pretentious, im unsure of any other way of really phrasing what im trying to say wrt the concept of the sin itself. furthermore, if lust as a character wasnt the way she was, i wouldnt have bothered as well. however the only rlly sexual thing abt lust as a character was the fact she knew folks found her attractive, and used it to her advantage to catch ppl off guard, or con them out of information. i was pretty careful in designing lustling to make them inspired from much of lusts original design without using the features that folks would link to that sexual aspect.

the way i characterize lust in a reincarnation scenario as well is closer to her 03 arc of having the desire of wanting be become human, and as symbolism or whatnot is meant to mirror lings lust for power aka rule as emperor. so essentially everything i have done with the au draws inspiration from depictions of the sin that arent that inherent sexual aspect, which is also linked to how fma already has depicted lust, because the only really like.. sexual thing about the character was she had big tits that were showing. like- greed constantly talks about wanting everything, envy obviously envied humans because they couldnt be like them, but you never hear lust talking abt how she just wants to go out and bang people, or see her go out and bang people, you know? she goes on a few dates with a guy to get info out of him and that was rlly it. she was a pretty simple antagonist in mangahood, but it wasnt abt sexy stuff

i hope this is somewhat comprehensive at least. and like i said, if youre still uncomfortable about it- yeah, block me if you want. im not gonna like kick n scream and tell you to like my au. i just wanted to elaborate on that concern.

the line is from what we deserve!! it's a soulmate au where your timer counts down to the moment that you meet your soulmate!! bakugou's timer ends at USJ when he and kirishima attack kurogiri at the same time (impulsive kings <33) but kirishima's timer doesn't end until kamino because that's when he accepts himself as bakugous soulmate!! unfortunately, when bakugous timer has reached 0, he turned to see that kirishima's was still ticking and therefore believes that kirishima isn't his soulmate.

this line just,, idk. it's really sad. bakugou is such an action-driven character? if something doesn't go his way he Makes it go his way. he's got this insanely volatile quirk and he's got impeccable control of it!! but his love for kirishima isn't something that he can change and he's not going to ruin kirishima's chance of finding his own soulmate because he loves him and wants him to be happy. i really wanted to focus on how resigned he is? and how unusual that is for a character like him.

CONCEPTUALIZATION

How do you conceptualize your ideas? (See specific moments like they're a movie, writing specific lines in your head, don't know until you put the words on paper, etc.) i tend to get inspiration from movies, books, poems, or other fics!!! sometimes one line just makes me go oh,, i want to write something like that,,, and then it helps me create an idea that makes me feel the same way?? i did this with control fraek!!!! i wanted a scenario where bakugou was cold and calculating and i was like hm. to do that he’d have to be focusing on something important. and from there i was able to flesh out the rest of the idea.

Which comes first: the pairing or the plot? with krbk its always always the pairing,, i'll be sitting there like wow <33 i love them <33 what if one of them had amnesia <33 (which, yes, wip!!) otherwise it's usually the plot!! and i slot in characters that i feel make sense

Have you ever used a prompt? yeah!! used a prompt for wlw week 2020 and it was fun as hell

Do you write around the story around a specific scene you want to get to or do you start from a plot idea definitely the first!!!! i almost always write like,,, a super messy scene thats 90% dialogue, keep it in my head, and then write the entire fic around that one moment

Do you find that you include a projection of some part of yourself in the way you write a character? a lot of the time when i write love confessions or love in general i'll have one of the characters think or say that the other person makes their head quiet? and it's because that's what i feel whenever i'm in love?? a quiet mind. i project on characters yeah but i think most of the projection actually goes to the way that i write love

Do you set word goals or scene goals (scenes you want to include)? yes!! like i said i'll write loose notes for scenes that i want to add later!! it gives me something to write towards :D

What do you consider when writing your scenes? what goes into making the atmosphere and mood you want? to set a scene i do two things? the first is like,, the five senses bc that always sets the scene really well and makes it feel Real. i'll visualize stuff in my head like its a movie and write out what i would want to tell the set designer?? if the lights are low, if the space is busy, if it's supposed to exude comfort or not.

for putting forward the character's mood one thing i've found that makes a difference is sentence length!! long sentences are good for making a character seem flustered and nervous or not really in control of their emotions? good for love confessions. short sentences are good for when the character is focused on something or short on time. good for fights!!

What's something you never considered to include in your writing that you can't leave out now? def buff hagakure,,,, once i thought of it i was like. if i don't include this at least once in every single fic how could i look at myself in the mirror!!!!!! how could i face anyone!!!!

How do you start a story? establishing a fact about the character or describing the setting! option a is one single thread of gold, option b is between lion and men

How do you end a story? either by tying it back to the beginning or doing like a funny kind of closing??? option a is sugar cookies, option b is a godless society

How do you get out of writer's block? change something!! move something!! i go from typing to handwriting, moving from my bedroom to my living room, switching wips to work on something else!! i do sprints as well?? give myself like fifteen minutes to write something and sometimes 200 words opens up the way for another 2k. sometimes i'll just delete like 500 words and start fresh

Do you edit? or do you toss your writing out there? i edit!!! i'll go over it myself then send it to one or two betas (bee my beloved <33)

How do you edit? do you use spellcheck, grammar checkers, etc? bee is my grammar checker bc he is So Good with grammar. i use grammarly as well for spellcheck stuff mostly?? sometimes my edit process is just like "am i tired of looking at this!! yes <3" and then i post it

Do you usually like what you write? yeah!!! i post stuff that makes me happy and that i'm fine with rereading!!! i write stuff for self-indulgence reasons first and foremost and i think my writing reflects that sjhnksj

Do you find yourself rereading your writing often? yeah!! the reason i wrote so much krbk secret relationship is because i loved it but i'd read all that there was so i just,, wrote more,, ngl its kinda nice being in a place where i actually like my writing bc i can write stuff that i want to see and really enjoy it!!

Can you tell us anything about your current WIP? sure!! i'm currently working on when it rains which is a fic where bakugou gets hit by a crying quirk!! i'm gonna be using it to explore So Much of all might's character and his relationships with bakugou and aizawa (and i think some people from his past!!)

Can you give us a sneak peek on your current WIP? “You did something. What the hell did you do?” Kirishima sounds pissed off. It would amuse Katsuki if he wasn’t fighting just to stay standing.

“Nothing he didn’t ask for,” Shinsou replies.

“K’ri… shima,” Katsuki croaks out. “‘S fine. Not him.”

His chest collapses back into the familiar dry heaving after that but Kirishima shuts up. He doesn’t apologize to Shinsou.

Kirishima’s a good friend, stubborn and loyal. He stands by Katsuki’s side like an attack dog, blocking him from the view of anyone ogling at his tears.

The last line you've written Ochako knows more than she'd realized. She knows enough to keep her guard up.

What's your favorite thing about writing? touched on this before but it's mainly just being able to write the things that i want to see and actually enjoy them!!! actually reread them!!!! i thought "wouldn't it be cool if bkg and kirishima owned a restaurant together" and then i wrote it and i like it enough to reread it!!!! being able to create content for myself makes me. so happy

How do you keep yourself inspired? this is gonna sound narcissistic maybe but honestly i'm just really excited about my ideas and where i'm gonna take them and the idea of "i'm gonna get to That scene" keeps me going through the entire thing. also my friends!!!! i'll talk to them about fics and their reactions keep me hyped up enough to finish!!!!

One way you've improved your writing since you began? characterization!! i think i've gotten better at writing characters that are all Different and bring different things to the table!!! i used to project a lot more and it would compromise the characterization because the character was like 70% me and 30% them? not to say that projection is bad but if you do it too much it just,, doesn't read like the character and from a reader's standpoint the narrative can become less compelling

One aspect of writing you're still working on? writing action!!! i. literally hate writing it but i write for a fandom about superheroes so. Unfortunately i gotta learn.

A piece of writing advice you've learned while writing saw this on another tumblr post but they said sometimes if you're struggling with a scene, the problem is five lines back. i've found that to be true!!!! sometimes u gotta delete a chunk and start a little ways back!! i did this with too busy being yours because i was stuck for Weeks and i deleted like 25% of what i had but it helped me actually finish it :D

Something you wish you knew when you first started writing? ,,,,honestly i kind of wish i could know some of the stuff that i used to when i first started writing?? technically i'm better now but creatively i was must better when i wasn't stressing about whether anyone would like what i was writing. so i guess i wish i knew that i should keep that confidence? i kinda wish that i wasn't as insecure about other people's writing styles because i never used to be!!

It’s also important to remind y’all (and me too because I go mad woman and I forget) that it’s not just about me because those emails didn’t just go to me right.

Like it was embarrassing and cringey for me and it was FUCKING PSYCHO TO TRY GET ME FIRED but I am a very well-branded individual as I say so like whatever. Nobody I told irl - I had to tell like friends and family and other clients this could be coming right - was shooketh. They were like, “wow this woman sounds nuts I’m so sorry” but they were also like, “yeah sounds like homegirl to get into a fight over antisemitism with a Kaylor and throw in some Harry Potter references.”

I’ve only ever said TTB should be better and that her followers should also expect better. Not because of the Kaylorism like idc about that much. But because of how problematic and harmful she is/was. She could’ve just not read me. I wasn’t tagging her. I wasn’t messaging her. I was writing on my own blog to point out issues.

She tried to get me fired, threatened legal action (lmfao) and implicitly tried to out me to my BOSS because she referenced my blog where my sexuality is a big talking point. Like she didn’t know if I’m out to this person. She didn’t care. Her hurt feelings about her blog were enough to try and jeopardize my income and possibly put me in physical danger.

Other people who received the emails FREAKED OUT. It was TERRIFYING. It wasn’t just weird and embarrassing it lead to AWFUL and TRAUMATIC conversations.

So now I’m not gonna be nice to her.

Like I say this isn’t about Bad Blood. This is mad woman shit.
