R.I.P. Kurt Cobain.
Kurt Cobain about Eddie: “I consider him a person I really like. We had a few conversations on the phone, I really like him, I think he’s a really nice person.”
Eddie:  “Yeah, I remember the sound of his voice…”

A little bit of the Persian influence but a lot of Bob Dylan as Rostam moves away from his signature sound to perform a very cool acoustic set on KCRW! Aunty E is so proud 😍😍

This is one crazy track that was written as a collaboration between Green, Bruno Mars, The Smeezingtons, and Brody Brown..
It has all the hallmarks of a Ceelo Green track...from the pointed statements to the diss on pop culture! We love it

How about a powerhouse version that takes two really solid tracks and brings them together into one gigantic blockbuster!
This is one really really smart mix by Elk Road and the live performance hits the sweet spot on Like A Version

One half of the Cotton Jones band, Michael Nau brings his easy confluence of folk and ballads into the spotlight with his solo project.
This track perhaps shines because of how in control Michael is with the singing. Coming off more as a troubadour rather than someone who is singing about personal stories.
To add to that is this gorgeous video that is absolutely in harmony with the sound and the colourscape of this track.

Gavin Turek is to music what Disco is to Dancing...
**okay small update - Aunty E has asked me to mention that she thinks Uncle Establishments opening line introducing the band is a load of rubbish**
This woman is a modern day homage to some fantastic disco and is perhaps that last missing bit from the retrowave spectrum we didn’t know existed! But we’re so much happier for this :) <3

The frontman from the already cool My Morning Jacket is even cooler with his solo project!
The very bluesy sort of indie rock feel is nostalgic for sure...and yet he steps up with some hard hitting lyrics that showcase his passion for human rights

Wow...just wow! A throwback to classic sounds very reminiscent of the 90s alternative wave from the UK (bands like Blur and The Verve come to mind)
The sounds stay true to the instruments that they use ..just that its so extremely peppy, progressive to begin with and then some crisp lyrics make it a great package!

Discovered the really cool @iamhazelenglish on a day Uncle E was down with fever and Aunty Establishment was happy that he was content because she has always loved the adventure of discovering new music!
We are however quite in the dark as far as this amazing talent is concerned. Apart from the fact that she is currently in Oakland, there isn’t too much about her on the net and we’re hoping someone shares some info?

This sister act is such a wonderful breadth of fresh air! Always love love their live performance...and this one is super special.
Love is in the air yes...but this video also showcases innocence and empathy...look at that little girl bringing them an umbrella..Uncle and Aunty Establishment both just melted at that moment <3
Klara and Johanna started to write and compose own country-folk songs inspired by Devendra Banhart and CocoRosie, among others, without much influence from their parents (their father was also once a musician with a band named Lolita Pop) who were more fond of Patti Smith, Velvet Underground and Pixies. Their father confessed later in a Swedish radio program that he was astonished and actually a little jealous of the ease his daughters had in producing top-notch music.
They were blessed to have come in contact with the artist also known as Fever Ray, who signed them to her label and ensured they had full artistic control over their music.
They first went viral around August 2008, when they uploaded a cover version of "Tiger Mountain Peasant Song" by Fleet Foxes to YouTube.  Robin Pecknold, frontman and lead guitarist for Fleet Foxes, noticed the duo's message about the video and praised the song on his band's webpage with multiple exclamation marks, causing a surge of popularity of the video. It led to First Aid Kit becoming internationally known, and them signing with Wichita Records at the end of 2008.

The Roches’ Maggie Roche Dead at 65 | Pitchfork
Maggie Roche, one-third of family band the Roches, has died. Roche’s sister and bandmate Suzzy confirmed the news in the below Facebook note, saying she died after a long battle with cancer. She was 65. “She was a private person, too sensitive and shy for this world, but brimming with life, love, and talent,” the note reads. “I want to let you know how grateful she was to everyone who listened and understood her through her music and her songs. … It’ll be hard for me to carry on without her.”

This is the incredible Pogo or Christopher Nicholas "Nick" Bertke. While his description reads - electronic music artist, we are sure that ‘Comedian’ should rank higher. His work consists of recording small sounds, quotes, and melodies from films, TV programmes or other sources, and sequencing the sounds together to form a new piece of music. A number of Pogo's works consist almost entirely of the sounds he samples, with few or no additional music or sound samples.
But what is unique is the ability to have a laugh while keeping it together musically!

Dual drummers could be epic...and while we haven’t seen their full potential on the records, this live performance is perhaps a great insight into how cool that could be.
Polica is one of Aunty E’s favourites of course and we’ve posted about them before. In fact this very track...but we couldn’t resist the live impact this song has :) <3 More power to these guys!

Revisiting Magic to begin the New Year!
As someone who loves music...to witness the globe coming together to make an album full of stunning tracks is just awesome.
Perhaps for the first time...the duo of Jamie Catto (Faithless founding member) and Duncan Bridgeman set out to create music and art in a way no one had explored it so far....they took to the road and with the help of technology worked tirelessly to bring the world together for this one epic project.
Here we see the legendary talents of Asha Bhosle and Michael Stipe come together absolutely in the spirit of the track itself.
