I will hold science nerd Monica Rambeau close to my heart! Thank you Teyonah Parris!!
honestly give teyonah Parris an Oscar for just constantly rattling off science shit like it was nothing while Brie and Iman looked at her like “girl what the fuck are you on about”

The Marvels thoughts (spoilers below):
Iman Vellani is great and I can’t wait to watch where her character goes. But I also want to praise Teyonah Parris’ Monica. I loved the smart, confident and sometimes quirky Monica we got here. I feel like she embodies the different parts of both Carol and Maria. And I can’t wait for all the smart Black girls in the MCU to meet!
Carol and Monica being awkward and distant in the beginning was also what I wanted. And the scene of Carol and Maria post-Infinity War 😭😭😭 (I need that to be an extended scene in the DVD release)
Loved the montage of them learning how to manage their switching.
Carol’s guilt over her actions destroying Hala
I know people are complaining over Kamala’s constant fangirling over Carol. But she explicitly acknowledges that she failed to treat Carol as a person. Plus Kamala is like 16-17; she is allowed to fawn over someone she idolizes.
In the same token, I appreciate that the film shows the harsher side of being a superhero. It clearly impacted Kamala and I’m curious to see how it will influence her superhero exploits moving forward. It also impacted Monica as she learned that Carol dealt with a lot of shit when she left at the end of Captain Marvel.
I know a lot of people like Carol and Valkyrie….but Carol and Maria will always be the best pairing for me and Marvel needs to stop being a coward
Speaking of Maria…. I’m so glad Lashana Lynch will be in the MCU for more films. She’s a great actress and I feel like she is really shining in her recent projects. Marvel tried to throw her away too quickly (in my opinion) and I’m glad they are switching gears. I just hope they give her something to do instead of bringing her back for short projects here and there.
(I know it will likely happen eventually) but I need these realities to merge soon so Monica is reunited with Carol and Kamala!
Last, this film and the first Captain Marvel film showed there is depth to Carol. She even admitted she liked having Kamala and Monica around. I hope moving forward she is able to be more than the Avengers’ tank. Like she is powerful but clearly Brie Larson is trying to show the human side of Carol Danvers.
Actual final point— I loved Uncle Nick Fury and Monica Rambeau…I need more of that immediately!

I don’t care what people say, The Marvels is a good movie! It was fun and vibrant with excellent chemistry between the leads. My only complaint is I wish they lingered on the emotional beats more. But other than that, this is a great follow up to Captain Marvel and I will see it in theaters again!
And we (presumably) got Maria back….but gods at what cost?!?
(Also Lashana Lynch I can meet you at the alter tomorrow if you ask! 😍🥰)

I should be asleep, but I’m still thinking about the latest episode of The Witch from Mercury. I’m not sure how the finale will go (or if it will be a season finale or a series finale). But something I’m deeply curious about is what will happen between Suletta and Prospera. So here are some sleepy thoughts and theories about Suletta, Prospera, Eri and how their story will end:
There is a slight possibility that Eri is alive in some capacity after the end of episode 23. But I think Eri as we knew her is completely gone (which 😭😭😭). So what will happen to Eri’s mother and younger sister? Will they really be able to move on as a family like Miorine offered? Will Prospera even want Suletta now that Eri is [most likely] gone?
For most of the show, Prospera has shown a smug confidence that clearly unnerves everyone who interacts with her. Delling was always wary of her. Miorine didn’t trust her or her intentions with Suletta. Belmaria was afraid of her and what she was capable of. The only person oblivious to Propera’s true nature was Suletta for obvious reasons. Prospera had a carefully crafted plan and was confident she would succeed no matter what. She adjusted on the fly when something didn’t work out exactly like she wanted it to.
So for much of the show Prospera was a woman who didn’t let anything get too deep under her skin. If there was a problem, she would handle it and get things back on track.
Yet the only instances where that confidence falters or isn’t present is in the most recent episode.  I’ve only watched the series once, so I may have missed a moment or two).
First, there’s a notable lack of reaction when Suletta lays out her feelings while fighting Eri/Aerial. I don’t remember the exact wording, but Suletta says she wants to be the one to comfort Prospera when she’s crying and the camera pans to Prospera who, interestingly doesn’t much of a reaction. Her head piece covers her eyes which often reveal so much emotion in humans. I’d like to think Prospera was genuinely touched by Suletta’s words or maybe she felt some deeper connection to her other daughter. Maybe it was a flicker of that love that Prospera says she has for Suletta that’s been nonexistent for much of the show (at least to me). Whatever her emotional reaction was in that moment, Prospera felt something towards her other daughter and hid it as best she could.
(This moment is also interesting because it suggests Suletta has likely witness Prospera crying and has either been rejected when trying to comfort her mother or knew not to interfere. Or it could be a callback to the visions Eri passed Suletta in episode 19 or 20, I can’t recall).
Then when Eri shields everyone from the super secret, deadly space laser, Prospera cries out for Eri to stop and appears frightened for what would come next. This is the strongest reaction we ever see from Prospera and it feels the most genuine out of everything we see. I don’t even think that was Prospera that we saw in that moment. It was Elnora Samaya who once again had to confront the possibility of losing her daughter. If Eri is truly gone, then what sort of emotional state will Prospera/Elnora be in when the next episode begins? Will she sink into a depression? Apathy? Shut herself off? Her driving force has been to create a world for Eri to live in, no matter the costs. And now, regardless of if Eri is still alive or not, that future is forever closed.
Now Eri is gone and what does Prospera have left? Suletta? The daughter she loves, but has also abandoned multiple times? The child that she fed to the wolves? Will she really want Suletta when she will always be a remainder of Eri, the child that she lost TWICE? Can she even be a parent to Suletta when so much of their relationship has been exploitative and harmful?
For Suletta’s sake, I hope Prospera and Suletta can build something together. I think Suletta is strong enough where she can survive without Prospera. (She has Miorine, Earth House and others in her corner. She’s better connected to her school too.). But she loves her mother and sister and I’m sure she’ll always want them to be with her.
But I also imagine an ending where Prospera rejects Suletta. Miorine calls Prospera out for failing to love her daughters equally and Prospera counters that people won’t understand. I think at this point, Prospera is still so deep in her grief and longing for a better future, that she likely can’t accept what she currently has (i.e. Suletta). What even is a world without Eri? Will Prospera want to live in such a reality? She spent two decades planning to reunite with Eri and now she’ll have to find a new way forward. Will Prospera want that for herself?
[Miorine calling out Prospera is so fascinating because Miorine is operating from a place of once having a mother who clearly cherished and loved her daughter. And Prospera is both similar to and yet so different from Notrette]
I think most likely the Mercurys ending will be a combination of the two potentials: Prospera, once again grieving the loss of Eri, acknowledges she can’t be a mother to Suletta, but Suletta, being the kind-hearted and compassionate person that she is, keeps the door open for communication and a connection later down the road. It’s not a happy ending, but it’s not gut-wrenching either. And it’s probably the most narratively satisfying ending for them. Because the parents in this show are far from perfect. They may love their children, but they’ve also caused significant harm to all their kids and that tainted how their children showed up in the world. Prospera and Suletta have far too much baggage that they can ignore. And again, there is a big question as to if Prospera will even want something with Suletta now that Eri is gone. So the best we can hope for is an ending that’s not overly positive, but not totally negative either.

The next episode is titled ‘Unrelenting Tenderness’ and all I want is for the entire episode to focus on Eri and Suletta’s sisterhood. I want to know Eri’s feelings about everything she’s been through and how she feels about Prospera’s plan.
To me, Eri is probably the most tragic character in this show, despite how little we’ve seen of her or know about her. And I think Eri’s story will end in a similar way to how it began: with her sacrificing herself to save Suletta just like Eri’s father sacrificed himself so Eri and Elnora could get away.

Other thoughts:
When will we see Miorine’s mom??? Y’all have teased her enough! I want to see her!! And what killed her?? There’s so much we don’t know!
I focused a lot on Suletta’s emotional and mental state, but my GOD will Miorine have a lot of trauma to deal with! For as mature as she tries to be (like Guel, Shaddiq, Elan and nearly all the others), she is very much a kid dealing with very old and very adult issues. She even says as much when she confronts Prospera! Let the adults fight amongst themselves and leave the kids out of it!
And while Miorine absolutely should take responsibility for hurting Suletta’s feelings in such a public way, she really should not feel guilty for Prospera’s actions on Earth or what Shaddiq and co did at the school.
Prospera had 20+ years to plan her revenge and set all her pieces on the board. Miorine had...what...a few months? If that? And Miorine was mostly reacting to what Prospera was doing. I hope someone points that out. Miorine wasn’t even born when Prospera started developing her revenge! There’s no way she could anticipate what Prospera was doing!
I like that Guel tried to reassure Miorine and she rejected him. I can’t wait to compare how that same scenario will go when Suletta tries to do the same thing!
I hope the Last Duel between Guel and Suletta is indeed the very last duel between the students. Like so many others, I want Suletta and especially Miorine to have more agency in their relationship. (Which is why Delling needs to wake up...cause I think he is the only one who can do away with the Holder system, right?? Unless Miorine also has that power now that she’s the group’s president??)
If the Benerit Group is in fact destroyed (either financially or physically) by the end of the season, I wonder what will become of Asticassia. Isn’t the school funded by the Group, hence why Delling had power to implement the Holder System? I plan to rewatch the series so I can know for sure. But with the school in shambles and the Benerit Group likely headed in the same direction, where will the students go??

Gundam: Witch From Mercury Thoughts
***Spoilers and a long post below***
This is my first Gundam show and i absolutely want to watch previous series!
I love that despite all the heartache she has endured since the beginning, Suletta ultimately is a good person with a good heart! Like she lost her wife Miorine, her sister/Gundam, her mother and her school has been attached TWICE! Yet at the start of episode 21, Suletta is handing out towels and offering up tomatoes because her kindness can make a difference, even if it is a small one. That’s her character core!
In fact, in her first appearance back in episode 1, the first thing we see Suletta do is save someone because that’s who she is. A good person with good intentions. And now that she’s away from Prospera’s influence, she can really shine!
And I think/hope Suletta’s inherent goodness will come up when Miorine and Suletta reunite. Because while Miorine felt the option she picked was the only way to save Suletta from Prospera, there were other ways to get Suletta to see the truth about her mother. Suletta is a good person, with or without her mother’s influence. With time and a meaningful conversation (or two or more), Suletta would have realized the truth about Prospera.
I keep comparing Guel’s confession in episode 17 with Miorine and Suletta’s last real conversation in episode 16. It’s interesting how Guel confessed his feelings to Suletta and how with time and a bit of work, Suletta understood what he was saying. And how if Miorine tried something similar, if she was persistent, then maybe Suletta would have understood what Miorine was trying to say. They could have avoided so much heartache! Cause Suletta didn’t understand and instead of trying to explain herself, Miorine ran and made decisions that hurt both of them! 😭😭
Speaking of the Suletta/Miorine reunion: I don’t want it to be easy. I’m not saying I want Suletta to give the cold shoulder or anything. (That’s not in line with her character) But I definitely want Suletta to express how much Miorine hurt her, I want Miorine to sit with that for a bit and promise to make it up to Suletta, to regain her trust. I want them to explain their respective sides and recognize that communication was sorely needed. If there is another season, there is time for them to grow as a couple. I don’t want it to pick up where it left off.
Clearly there is going to be a confrontation between Eri, Prospera and Suletta. I’m of the firm opinion that Prospera never cared for Suletta, she just loved what Suletta represented (i.e. a physical version of what Eri could have been if she lived). But I think Eri genuinely loves Suletta and that love is what is going to save Suletta. Whether Eri sacrifices herself to protect Suletta, teaches Suletta how to navigate the data storm for herself or some other option, Eri is going to be the key that keeps Suletta alive. (Kind of a reverse of how Suletta was the key for Aerial earlier)
Other thoughts about the upcoming episodes:
I hope there is another season because I think there is still a lot left to explore! BUT if the remaining episodes are the final ones, I could see the series having a satisfactory ending. One of the major conflicts is Prospera vs everyone else and we’re reaching the conclusion of that conflict. There’s more to be explored, but to me that feels more supplemental than essential.
With both Petra and Delling in a coma/hospitalized, I feel that one will live and the other will die. For some reason, I don’t see both waking up. (Though I could be wrong here cause I was certain Petra died at the end of episode 20!) Since Prospera wants to both take revenge on Delling and build a world that Eri can exist in, I’m leaning towards Delling waking up and Petra dying. I think Delling will bear witness to how Prospera destroyed everything he built.
I do wonder who pulled Petra from under the rubble? My guess is Suletta since she was physically close to Petra. And if that is true, will that play a role in the Lauda/Miorine/Guel confrontation that is now being built?
The Benerit Group is about to be completely destroyed! Not only is the Space Assembly League coming after them, but I also believe Prospera’s use of Quiet Zero will likely physically destroy the group’s headquarters/base of operations.
And Miorine has SUFFERED plenty, but if the group is destroyed it will be another, painful reminder that her plan to separate Suletta and Prospera did very little good.
Last point because this is long: depending on how the final showdown goes, Shaddiq and co will probably escape. (Not without some casualties/deaths). If that happens, it will be interesting to see what he does when his access to resources is limited/non-existent.

I know the Carol and Monica reunion/reconciliation will be painful and emotional and really messy (I can’t wait to cry in the theaters!) But the ‘deadbeat mom carol’ comments are really giving me life!
I really, really, really hope Marvel doesn’t try to sweep Carol’s connection t to Maria and Monica to the side. Or try to make it seem like Monica’s anger/frustration towards Carol isn’t justified. Even if they don’t confirm that Maria and Carol were girlfriends or wives (which it’s right there! stop being cowards!) there is no denying that the three of them were a family and loved one another. So I’m hoping in the Marvels Monica and Carol hash out their feelings over multiple conversations that really show how important Carol was/is to Monica and Carol viewed her relationship with the Rambeaus.
And I’m in the camp that Carol visited Monica and Maria in the years between Captain Marvel and the Infinity Saga. It just doesn’t seem right to Carol’s character that she reunites with her family and then peaces out for several decades. I REALLY hope the movie gives us some clue as to how Carol’s life went after her solo movie. While I still hate that Marvel killed Maria off screen, I think Carol was there when Maria had cancer. And since Lashana Lynch is apparently in the Marvels maybe we’ll get a flashback to the years after Thanos’ snap! Just dig into the Danvers-Rambeau family Marvel, please!! I need to see this family again!!

“Public libraries are such important, lovely places!” Yes but do you GO there. Do you STUDY there. Do you meet friends and get coffee there. Do you borrow the FREE, ZERO SUBSCRIPTION, ZERO TRACKING books, audiobooks, ebooks, and films. Have you checked out their events and schemes. Do you sign up for the low cost courses in ASL or knitting or programming or writing your CV that they probably run. Do you know they probably have myriad of schemes to help low income families. Do you hire their low cost rooms if you need them. Have you joined their social groups. Do you use the FREE COMPUTERS. Do you even know what your library is trying to offer you. Listen, the library shouldn’t just exist for you as a nice idea. That’s why more libraries shut every year

Finally finished Life is Strange: True Colors and I have so many feelings about it. I loved it so much! And I’m so happy we actually had a good ‘villian’ because that’s something I always felt the villians/antagonists were a huge weakness of the series.
Max and Chloe will always have a place in my heart, but I LOVE Steph and Alex sooooo much. The music was on point which is to be expected!
And Jed was such a good antagonist. What a terrible man! I refused to offer him forgiveness (which probably permanently damaged Alex’s relationship with Ryan 😬)
Definitely going to replay this game because it’s just so damn good!
